His Real-life Actions Spoke Volumes about His Character

Kyle and Kristen Upham were shopping for a diamond ring in Santa Barbara before Kyle’s second deployment to Iraq. After realizing they couldn’t afford the $9,000 ring Kristen wanted, they left empty-handed.
Shortly after, they were called back to the store and given the ring, with staff refusing to reveal who paid for it at Walker’s request. The couple suspected it was Walker but didn’t know for sure until after his tragic death in 2013, when a store employee confirmed it.
Kristen called Walker’s gesture the kindest thing anyone had ever done for her, saying, “His real-life actions spoke volumes about his character.”
