Hosts Saudi Arabia won’t be making any exceptions

Football fans will be completely banned from drinking alcohol at the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The hosts won’t be making any exceptions for the tournament with the Kingdom having a strict ban on booze for over 70 years.

FIFA confirmed in December that Saudi Arabia would be hosting the men’s World Cup in 2034.

And Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, ambassador to the UK, has now confirmed to LBC that alcoholic beverages will not be sold anywhere as football fans flock for the matches – including hotels, restaurants and stadiums.

“At the moment, we don’t allow alcohol,” Prince Khalid said.

“Plenty of fun can be had without alcohol – it is not 100 percent necessary and if you want to drink after you leave, you’re welcome to, but at the moment we don’t have alcohol.”

When asked if this meant fans would instead be able to have a drink once they got back to their hotels (like during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar) the ambassador clarified: “No, there is no alcohol at all.

“Rather like our weather, it’s a dry country.

“Everyone has their own culture. We’re happy to accommodate people within the boundaries of our culture but we don’t want to change our culture for someone else.

“And I mean, really, you can’t live without a drink?’”

Football fans caught breaking these laws on alcohol could potentially face prison sentences, fines, public flogging and deportation.

There had been a bit of an expectation, or shall we say, a hope, from those planning to head over for the World Cup thanks to what happened at the most recent one.

Another Muslim country, Qatar had allowed supporters to buy alcohol from designated fan zones and hotel bars during the tournament.

However, it did reverse its initial decision to sell booze in stadiums just two days before the competition began.

But hey, there’s still another nine years to go until this World Cup even takes place, at this rate you never know what plans could change.

With this strict ban on alcohol, same-sex relations are also illegal in Saudi Arabia and being transgender is not recognised. Prince Khalid, however, insisted: “We will welcome everyone in Saudi.

“It is not a Saudi event, it is a world event and, to a large extent, we will welcome everyone who wants to come.”

Police share new details after two children likely ‘froze to death’ while sleeping in van

Authorities in Detroit said the children were two of five kids sleeping in a parking garage

Police in Detroit have shared details of a tragic incident in which two young children died after spending the night in a van amid freezing temperatures.

Interim Detroit Police Chief Todd A. Bettison shared details of the situation in a press conference on Tuesday (February 11), one day after the children’s mother realized the two-year-old girl and the nine-year-old boy had stopped breathing while sleeping in the van in a parking garage.

Bettison said the mother had already called a close relative for help when the van ran out of gas, after which she realized her son, who was one of five children in the van, wasn’t breathing.

The mom then called 911, and the friend used their own car to take the nine-year-old to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

According to Bettison, the mom then proceeded to check on the remaining four children who were in the van, at which time she realized the two-year-old also wasn’t breathing.

The ‘entire family’ then got into the car and went to the hospital, where the two- and nine-year-old children were ‘pronounced deceased’.

Detroit Police Capt. Nathan Duda told NBC News that early indications suggested the children ‘froze to death’.

Temperatures had fallen below 32 degrees Fahrenheit while the kids were in the van, police said, indicating the deaths had been the result of ‘exposure to hypothermia’.

The cause of deaths will ultimately be confirmed by the medical examiner.

The other three children, aged four, eight and 13, were determined to be in a stable condition after they were treated in the hospital. They are now with other family members.

Meanwhile, the mom was detained and provided a statement before being released.

Authorities have confirmed that officers will conduct an investigation into the deaths to determine if charges are necessary.

Duda told NBC: “It has to be [investigated]. I don’t think anyone really wants to think about that at the moment with the two children passed, but the reality is that the circumstances do have to be examined.

“We have to figure out how to go forward.”

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan revealed during the press conference that the family involved had previously reached out to the city’s ‘homeless response team’ on multiple occasions, most recently on November 25.

While there was ‘no resolution reached’ in that conversation, Duggan said the family ‘never called back again’, but neither had anyone ‘proactively’ reached out to the family.

Noting ‘there were family shelter beds available just a few miles away’, he added: “[It] brings home the point that having services available doesn’t mean very much if the residents who need them don’t know how to access them.

“We have to make sure that we do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Jaysley Beck was found dead at her base camp in Wiltshire, UK, in December 2021

A sergeant who allegedly ‘pinned down and tried to kiss’ a teenage soldier, who was later found dead at her barracks, has given an update on leaving the army.

In December 2021, Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck was found dead at the barracks of her army base in Wiltshire, UK, months after raising a complaint about the behaviour of a colleague.

The inquest heard how Gunner Beck had filed a complaint against Battery Sergeant Major Michael Webber in July 2021, after an adventure training exercise at Thorney Island, near Emsworth in Hampshire.

The 19-year-old also reportedly told a friend that ‘something happened that night.’

Her pal, Lance Bombardier Kirsty Davis said in the hearing: “[Webber] was trying to kiss her and she was trying to push him away, he was pinning her down.”

“Jaysley had told him ‘no’, tried to get away from him but he had persisted so she left,” she added.

Mr Webber received a minor sanction on his record for the complaint but the inquest heard crucial details of the offense had been omitted, leading to a ‘miscommunication’ on legal advice, the BBC reports.

Speaking at the hearing, Mr Webber said he had intended on leaving the army in April but declined to answer further questions about the alleged incident.

However, he did say that he had written a letter of apology to Gunner Beck and maintained what he had wrote in it was true, though declined to comment further.

When the coroner asked: “You will see in the letter you describe your behaviour as ‘absolutely unacceptable’ – what was your behaviour?”, Mr Webber did not answer.

Despite the sanction, Mr Webber was promoted to Warrant Officer1 rank in May 2022.

Before her death, the teen claimed WO1 Webber told her that he had been ‘waiting for a moment for them to be alone’ and invited her into a drinking game called Last Man Standing.

It is then alleged the officer grabbed her leg and tried to kiss her.

Major Robert Ronz was then assigned to deal with the complaint, but told the inquest he felt the incident fell into ‘minor sanction territory’ at the time, and decided against a formal investigation.

During the hearing, he said he was ‘unaware of any physical contact’ due to the ‘miscommunication’ through the chain of command. Had he of know, he said the outcome of the punishment against Mr Webber might have been different. The teen said her boss was 'stalking' her (Family Photo/PA)

UK Army policy states any offense of a sexual element must be referred for legal advice and investigated by the Military Service Police, while minor sanctions have a ‘shelf life’ of two years.

In Gunner Beck’s case, the paper trail of the incident ends on the minor sanction, which cites ‘inappropriate behaviour unbecoming of a warrant officer’, as per the BBC.

A service inquiry report published in October 2023 described Gunner Beck had endured ‘an intense period of unwelcome behaviour’ and said it was ‘almost certain this was a causal factor’ in her passing.

The inquest also heard Gunner Beck received thousands of messages from another senior colleague, Bombardier Ryan Mason, who reportedly caused the teen to feel ‘trapped’ and ‘not safe’ at work, Sky News reports.

The youngster became ‘freaked out’ by her ‘obsessive’ and ‘psychotic’ boss’ behaviour, during which she said she received 3,600 messages from him in one month alone before her death.

She was also worried he had hacked her cell phone.

The inquest further heard there are three more ‘contributory factors’ to her death, including the ‘significant strain’ of a relationship with a married colleague, an ‘unfaithful’ previous partnership and an ‘unhealthy approach to alcohol’ and ‘binge-drinking’.

Obscure law that’s one of the reasons Trump’s executive orders keep losing in court

Multiple executive orders signed off by Donald Trump have been temporarily halted with questions over whether they comply with a 1946 act

Multiple of Donald Trump’s executive orders have been challenged and temporarily halted as a result of them potentially not complying with an Act established in 1946.

After being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump wasted no time signing off on multiple executive orders – over 50 in around two weeks.

However, that’s not to say all have gone on to be easily achieved, with one in particular persistently blocked all thanks to the Administrative Procedure Act.

What happens before the Administrative Procedure Act?

Well, before a president even enters office, they typically have an agenda that they’ve been pushing to help them achieve the votes – an agenda which they may ultimately continue to rally behind once they’ve been sworn in.

Now, some laws go through Congress to become policies, however, some presidents will choose to sign off on executive actions which don’t have to go through Congress in a bid to turn them into law.

Executive actions involve setting a policy and then designating the policy to certain specific federal agencies – also known as executive agencies – to enact it.

However, everything executive agencies do must follow the Administrative Procedure Act, which ultimately means if an executive order doesn’t comply with the Act, it can’t simply pass through and become a law – unlucky Trump.

But what it the Administrative Procedure Act exactly?

Unlucky Trump ( Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

Unlucky Trump ( Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

What is the Administrative Procedure Act?

The Administrative Procedure Act is a federal statute signed off in 1946 which requires all administrative agencies – i.e. organizations that are part of the US federal government – ‘to satisfy procedural requirements (referred to as notice-and-comment rule-making) in developing and issuing regulations,’ Thomson Reuters explains.

Under the act, an administrative agency must ‘publish a general notice of proposed rule-making in the Federal Register’ and ‘allow interested parties to be involved in the rule-making process by submitting written data, views, or arguments’.

It must include a ‘general statement of the regulations basis and purpose,’ which help ‘provide the public [with] a chance to participate in the rule-making process’ alongside helping ‘an agency educate itself before promulgating regulations and procedures that have a substantial effect on the regulated community’.

If there’s a question of whether the act has been followed within an executive order, the order can be challenged and taken to court and temporarily halted in the process.

Trump can keep signing away, but that doesn't mean all his executive orders will end up as law (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

Trump can keep signing away, but that doesn’t mean all his executive orders will end up as law (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

How does this affect Trump’s executive orders?

Basically, it means Trump doesn’t simply have free reign to just sign off on any executive order he wants and it gets enacted as a law.

If any of Trump’s orders are found to go against the Act or someone challenging an order can convince a judge its ‘arbitrary and capricious’, then the order can be prevented from being put into action.

Multiple of Trump’s orders have been temporarily blocked by various courts, meaning the action cannot be enforced at least for now until a federal court has determined whether or not it can lawfully go ahead.

And even if a court did decide against one of the executive orders, this decision can also be appealed and taken to the Supreme Court, which has the ultimate say.

So, which of Trump’s orders are potentially hanging in the balance?

Trump’s blocked orders so far

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is not yet allowed access to sensitive federal government payments, as a legal challenge was filed by union members and others, and a federal judge later agreed to place a temporary block on it.

Another suit was filed by other union members, but a judge denied issuing a temporary restraining order and nineteen states filed a similar suit arguing it’s unconstitutional for Musk to access personal data too.

Green Day change lyrics to ‘American Idiot’ to slam Donald Trump

And that’s not all:

  • Trump’s attempt to strip down the US Agency for International Development to a few hundred workers by placing them on leave – a Washington district judge issued ‘very limited’ temporary restraining order.
  • Requiring agencies to work with DOGE and cut down federal workforce, administration offering to pay workers if they agree to resign – Labor unions for federal workers argued the offer was illegal and the date for workers to agree or disagree was later delayed by a federal judge in Boston.
  • ‘Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship’ order – this was met with a number of lawsuits and later seeing Maryland and Washington federal judges issue nationwide preliminary injunctions, one since appealed by Trump.
  • Funding freeze for federal aid and programs such as the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) – federal judges in Washington and Rhode Island have signed off on temporary restraining orders.
  • Transgender inmates – Four transgender women prisoners filed two lawsuits and two judges blocked the prisoners from being removed from their prisons and transferred to male prisons.

The actor also revealed there’s not actually one singular tattoo he regrets, instead explaining he wished he didn’t get any of them.

“I made a lot of those decisions before rehab, so I have the dumbest tattoos,” he claimed.

“I got a collection of cartoons smoking blunts like a muppet smoking a blunt, the Tootsie Pop owl smoking a blunt.”

In January, Davidson offered fans an insight into how it felt to get his sprawling body art collection removed.

“They gotta burn off a layer of your skin and then it has to heal for, like, six to eight weeks and you can’t get in the sunlight,” he stated during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“Then you gotta do it, like, 12 more times.”

Davidson’s idea to essentially cleanse his body of ink came after he was forced to show up three hours early to a movie set just so make-up artists could get to work.

“I didn’t think that they would put me in stuff – like the movie business. I thought after SNL, it’s a wrap,” he previously explained.

“It takes like three hours – you have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much.”

According to the Reformation Valentine’s campaign, the Bodies Bodies Bodies alumnus is now the ‘official boyfriend’ of the brand.

“Together, we’re reminding you of what makes a really great partner,” Reformation’s site reads.

“With these reliable, sexy, 100% boyfriend material things. And we aren’t just talking about Pete.”

Having helped President Donald Trump reclaim the Oval Office, Musk now finds himself leading a new government department

Elon Musk has stepped into politics over the course of the last few weeks, after being appointed to head a new government department.

For the richest man in the world, Musk has a strong cult following, with his fanbase supporting any and all of his ideologies – love that was not shared for Microsoft founder Bill Gates when he staked claim to being the wealthiest person on the planet.

Ironically, Gates is still incredibly less popular than Musk despite pledging to give away virtually all of his wealth. While the Tesla owner faced somewhat of a scandal for donating millions less than he was required to by law after setting up a nonprofit charity, The Musk Foundation, and filling it with tax-deductible gifts, he is still strangely revered by many right-wing Americans.

Anyway, having helped President Donald Trump overcome Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris during his campaign, Musk was rewarded by the Republican with his own office.

Musk is heading up the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), alongside the former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Their mission is to streamline the US government through plans to axe thousands of jobs and drastically reduce the wage bill, and once they have finished their mission, they have vowed to disband the department – setting a completion date as no later than July 4, 2026… Independence Day next year.

So, now we’re all caught up with what exactly is going on, let’s get into what Joe Rogan has said about ‘psychopath’ Musk – which has sparked a debate online.

Speaking on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, he said in response to claims that ‘Elon is going to steal everyone’s money’: “He has $400 billion – I’m telling you he’s not going to steal your money; I’m telling you that’s not what he’s doing. What he’s doing is, he’s a super genius that’s been f***ed with, okay?

“And when you’ve been f***ed with by these nitwits that hide behind three-letter agencies, and you’re dealing with one of the smartest people alive – and he helps Donald Trump get into office, and he goes ‘I want to find out what corruption is really around’. Well, you f***ed up.

“You f***ed up and picked the wrong psychopath on the spectrum, because he’s going to f***ing… he’s going to hunt you down. He’s going to find out what’s going on, and that’s good! That’s good for everybody.”

He continued: “That’s how you should be looking at this, like ‘Wow, we have a brilliant mind that is examining these really f***ing corrupt and goofy systems, and bringing in a bunch of psychopath wizards’.”

Musk has since reacted to Rogan’s comments, reposting the clip on Twitter with the response: “The party is just getting started.”

Also reacting to his comments on Twitter, the social media platform which Musk coincidentally owns, one user wrote: “So why didn’t he stop at 1 billion? The rich have never said ‘I have enough’.”

“Ah yes, Joe, deep throat that boot and show how anti-establishment you supposedly are,” someone added.

“Jesus anyone who believes this must still think Santa Claus is real.”

With a third commenting: “If Musk actually had proof of mass corruption, he’d have released it in a way that goes beyond cryptic tweets and political posturing. Until that happens, claiming he’s ‘hunting down corruption’ is just blind hero worship with no factual basis.”

But some people argued against those views. One typed: “Fr he has $400B. I don’t think he cares about anyones money LOL He’s doing this for the American people.

“If you think Musk is after your money you’re looking at the wrong man he’s after corruption.”

With a second adding: “Simple logic. How much of my money has Elon extorted from me? How much of my money has the federal government extorted from me?”

A decades-old cold case has had a major update with the help of forensic genetic genealogy

A murdered woman dubbed the ‘Jeweled Mom’ has finally had her identity revealed decades later.

In 1982, the remains of a deceased woman were discovered by a real estate agent in Loxahatchee, Florida. The deceased had died as a result of being shot in the head, and her death was ruled as a homicide.

There was limited information about the victim at the time, other than her being white and that she was presumed to be between the ages of 24 to 34.

It was also believed that the unidentified woman was a mother and had given birth to one or two children, CBS reports.

Police attempted to piece together and DNA profile for the murdered mom, but they struggled to positively identify her.

Instead, the woman earned the name ‘Jeweled Mom’ due to the accessories that were discovered on her.

As per a news release, the mom was found with ‘a silver handcrafted heart-shaped pinky ring, a gold mariner’s anchor necklace with a 180-degree twist, a wristwatch, a four marquis cut ring, and a diamond ring with 14K white gold setting’.

The case had long remained cold until the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with Othram — an American corporation specializing in forensic genetic genealogy — in 2021.

With the help on modern day technology, the woman has finally be identified as Leona Jean Keller, who was 37 years old when she died.

Othram used a DNA sample from someone who is thought to have been related to Keller, which lead to her identification 43 years after her death.

Original evidence taken back in the 1980s was also given to Othram, which assisted them in creating a more comprehensive DNA profile.

“Forensic evidence was submitted to Othram’s laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas where scientists successfully developed a DNA extract from the evidence,” the news release explained.

“Using Forensic Grade Genome Sequencing, a comprehensive DNA profile was built for the unknown woman. Othram’s forensic genetic genealogy team then used the profile in a genealogy search which resulted in new leads about the woman’s identity.

“These leads were provided to investigators who launched a follow-up investigation.”

The leads then helped investors find possible relatives of Keller’s, which ultimately lead to her positive identification.

Keller represents the 36th case in the State of Florida where officials have publicly identified an individual using technology developed by Othram.

Milaпo’s Accυsatioпs Agaiпst Mυsk

Dυriпg a receпt iпterview oп a popυlar podcast, Milaпo opeпed υp aboυt her decliпiпg career aпd the strυggles she has faced over the past few years. She claims that Mυsk, who took over Twitter (пow X), played a direct role iп creatiпg aп eпviroпmeпt that stifled her ability to secυre actiпg roles.

“Ever siпce Eloп took over Twitter, the platform has become toxic,” Milaпo said. “He allowed hate speech to floυrish aпd sileпced voices like miпe. That’s пot oпly impacted my advocacy work bυt also my actiпg career. Prodυcers doп’t waпt to work with someoпe who is coпstaпtly targeted oпliпe.”

Milaпo also poiпted to the broader cυltυral shift she attribυtes to Mυsk’s leadership style. “His versioп of ‘free speech’ has emboldeпed the worst elemeпts of society,” she coпtiпυed. “Aпd that has trickled dowп iпto the eпtertaiпmeпt iпdυstry. People like me are beiпg blacklisted becaυse we speak oυt agaiпst it.”

A Career oп the Decliпe?

Milaпo rose to fame as a child actress oп the sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” aпd later became a hoυsehold пame with her role oп “Charmed.” However, her actiпg opportυпities have dwiпdled iп receпt years. Critics have argυed that her oυtspokeп political activism has made her a polariziпg figυre iп Hollywood.

Milaпo’s activism, particυlarly her vocal criticism of coпservative figυres aпd policies, has earпed her praise from progressive circles bυt also backlash from those who disagree with her views.

“It’s пot easy beiпg aп oυtspokeп womaп iп this iпdυstry,” Milaпo said. “Bυt wheп someoпe like Eloп Mυsk, who has eпormoυs iпflυeпce, decides to target yoυ, it caп have real-world coпseqυeпces.”

Fiпaпcial Hardship Claims

Milaпo also addressed her fiпaпcial strυggles, claimiпg that her dimiпished actiпg roles have led to sigпificaпt fiпaпcial hardship.

“I’ve had to dowпsize my lifestyle,” she revealed. “I’ve lost oυt oп mυltiple projects becaυse people are afraid to work with me. The backlash I’ve faced oп social media, fυeled by Eloп’s policies, has real coпseqυeпces.”

Despite her challeпges, Milaпo remaiпs committed to her advocacy work. “I’m пot goiпg to stop speakiпg oυt,” she said. “Bυt it’s importaпt for people to υпderstaпd that there are costs to activism, especially wheп powerfυl people like Eloп Mυsk are iпvolved.”

Pυblic Reactioп

Reactioпs to Milaпo’s commeпts have beeп mixed. Some have expressed sympathy, agreeiпg that Mυsk’s leadership of Twitter has coпtribυted to a more toxic oпliпe eпviroпmeпt.

“Alyssa is right,” oпe social media υser wrote. “Twitter υsed to be a platform where people coυld advocate for chaпge. Now, it’s a cesspool of hate.”

However, others have criticized Milaпo for blamiпg Mυsk for her career troυbles, argυiпg that her activism—пot Mυsk—is the primary reasoп for her lack of roles.

“Maybe it’s пot Eloп Mυsk,” aпother commeпter wrote. “Maybe Hollywood jυst doesп’t waпt to work with someoпe who coпstaпtly briпgs politics iпto everythiпg.”

Eloп Mυsk’s Respoпse

As of пow, Mυsk has пot pυblicly respoпded to Milaпo’s accυsatioпs. The billioпaire has previoυsly dismissed criticism aboυt his maпagemeпt of Twitter, argυiпg that he is committed to protectiпg free speech.

Iп receпt iпterviews, Mυsk has maiпtaiпed that his goal is to make X a platform for all voices, regardless of political affiliatioп.

“If people waпt a safe space, they caп go somewhere else,” Mυsk said dυriпg a coпfereпce earlier this year. “We’re here to promote opeп dialogυe, eveп if that makes some people υпcomfortable.”

A Broader Discυssioп oп Free Speech aпd Accoυпtability

Milaпo’s accυsatioпs have reigпited the oпgoiпg debate aboυt the balaпce betweeп free speech aпd accoυпtability. While Mυsk aпd his sυpporters champioп a platform that embraces all viewpoiпts, critics argυe that υпchecked free speech caп lead to harm, especially wheп it allows harassmeпt aпd misiпformatioп to spread.

For Milaпo, the stakes are persoпal. “I jυst waпt to be able to work iп peace,” she said. “I waпt to υse my platform to do good withoυt beiпg attacked for it. Is that too mυch to ask?”

What’s Next for Milaпo?

Despite the challeпges, Milaпo shows пo sigпs of backiпg dowп. She remaiпs active oп social media, advocatiпg for caυses she believes iп aпd coпtiпυiпg to call oυt what she sees as iпjυstice.

As for her career, Milaпo is hopefυl that the tides will tυrп.

“I’m пot giviпg υp,” she said. “This iпdυstry has its υps aпd dowпs. I’ve beeп throυgh it all before. Bυt what I woп’t do is stay sileпt.”

Whether Mυsk respoпds or пot, oпe thiпg is clear: Alyssa Milaпo is determiпed to keep fightiпg for her voice to be heard—both oп aпd off the screeп
