The director said the stunts ‘will melt your brain’, and they certainly had an impact on Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise said that while performing a stunt for the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie he ‘would pass out physically’.

By now, you’re likely familiar with the actor’s habit of doing his own stunts. The 62-year-old has been more than willing to put his body on the line in the name of getting a good shot, even if it’s come back to bite him in the past.

While filming a roof jumping stunt for Mission: Impossible – FalloutCruise broke his ankle but was able to drag himself onto the other roof and run out of shot.

He drove a motorbike off a cliff in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, and then returned to the top to do the stunt five more times after being unhappy with the way the bike was plummeting to destruction.

Back in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation he was hanging off the side of a plane, and that was Cruise himself doing that scary stunt.

If you’re sensing that Tom Cruise being somewhere high up in a Mission: Impossible movie is a recipe for dangerous stunts, then you’d be right.

“When you stick your face out [of the plane], going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen,” the actor said. “So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.”

Apparently there’s an even more ‘intense’ stunt in the film than the one that made Tom Cruise pass out at times, which viewers will apparently be able to recognise when they see it.

For now it might be an idea to appreciate just how insane some of the moviemaking behind this franchise has been and how willing Tom Cruise has been to put himself out there for the art of cinema.

Fans have praised the actor as a ‘legend’ for his dedication, declaring that Cruise is ‘one of a kind’ and ‘untouchable’ as a film star.

Tragedy struck in Big Horn County, Wyoming, on Monday (February 10) afternoon when a mother and her three young daughters were found dead inside their home.

According to the New York Post, 32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman fatally shot her children in the head before dialing 911 to report the horrifying scene.

During the brief call, she informed the dispatcher of the children’s location before abruptly hanging up, the local sheriff’s office reported.

When officers arrived, they discovered the three girls with fatal gunshot wounds, along with their mother, who had also ended her own life.

KRTV reported that only one of the girls, a 7-year-old, survived the heartbreaking murder-suicide.

Her three sisters – a 9-year-old and two 2-year-olds born less than a year apart – were killed. Harshman was still alive when police arrived at the residence but later succumbed to her injuries.

While police continue investigating the circumstances, her husband, Cliff Harshman, told Cowboy State Daily that his wife had been struggling with severe mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression.

“My wife is not a monster,” he told the outlet. “Most people don’t understand how that affects the brain. It’s a chemical imbalance … And it can be exacerbated by trying to fix it with medication.”

Cliff Harshman is the biological father of the two youngest victims and had been helping raise the older two. His 7-year-old stepdaughter remains in critical condition at a Salt Lake City hospital.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help the “devoted husband and father of four beautiful daughters” with financial assistance.

“Tragedy has struck, leaving us shattered and heartbroken. [Cliff Harshman], a devoted husband and father of four beautiful daughters, has suffered an unimaginable loss: the passing of 3 of his precious girls. 1 still fighting in Salt Lake, please pray for her,” the page read.

“This devastating event has left Cliff and his loved ones reeling in grief, struggling to come to terms with the immense void left in their lives. The financial burden of funeral expenses, ongoing family support, and other related costs only adds to their pain.”

“As a community, we’re rallying around him to offer love, support, and financial assistance during this darkest of times. Your contribution will help alleviate some of the financial stresses, allowing him to focus on healing, reflection, and cherishing the memories of his dear daughters,” the description concluded.

Another GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Quinn Blackmer, the father of the two older girls.

The fundraiser page states that the two girls were “currently residing with their mother in Wyoming, who attempted to take all 4 of her children’s lives”.

“Brailey (9) and Olivia (7) and their two younger half-sisters suffered deadly gunshot wounds. This news shattered them. Their oldest daughter, Brailey (9), passed away on scene. Olivia (7) was life-flighted to Billings, Montana, then later life-flighted to SLC for the closest and best neurology care team. Olivia has suffered severe traumatic brain injury and is fighting hard for her life!”

“All prayers and whatever higher faith or power you believe in are appreciated for the family at this time. If she does pull through this, she and the family have a very long road ahead of them, a lot of unknown right now,” they added.

Lisa Manders was on a ‘bush walk’ in Zambia when she was attacked

A devastated husband watched on as his wife was killed by a hippo while the two were on an African safari in Zambia.

The American woman hailed from New Jersey and was attacked by the animal last year, dying moments later, according to a lawsuit.

Lisa Manders was 70 at the time of her death.

Her husband, Craig, is now suing the safari tour company, alleging that the tour operator should have kept her safe, despite the gruesome outcome.

Speaking to NBC News via a statement from his attorneys, the husband explained: “Had we understood the dangers posed by the hippopotamus, we never would have agreed to be in such close contact while on foot.

“The idea that we were unwittingly exposed to such an extreme danger, a danger made even worse by our tour guides leaving Lisa alone on foot with nothing between her and such a deadly animal, is nothing short of astonishing.”

After leaving the US on 31 May 2024, the mother-of-three and her husband travelled to Zambia for a ten-day safari. The lawsuit stated that the former was attacked just five days into the holiday.

They were on a ‘bush walk’, and the suit claims that the tour guide ‘knew or should have known’ how close wild hippopotamuses were, and should have made it clear to those on the walk ‘due to the known tendencies’ of the creatures.

They described the animals as ‘highly unpredictable, territorial, and aggressive’.

The guides had allegedly left the area, with at least one of them armed with a rifle, and this is when disaster struck.

A hippo charged out of a body of water nearby towards Lisa, who tried to run away, as the suit added: “She was unable to escape and the hippopotamus violently attacked her, grabbing her by its mouth, lifting her off the ground, shaking her entire body, and crushing her head and body with its bite.”

The tour was organised by safari company African Portfolio, a company that has its headquarters in Connecticut.

The company’s lawyer, Rod Gould, has described the tragedy as ‘really unusual’, and claimed that the company is only responsible for organising the tours, and not any mishaps that can take place on the trips.

“We’re not responsible if the airline loses luggage,” the lawyer stated.

The suit further adds that the couple were not aware that going near the bank would put them in danger, further adding that they were ‘negligently encouraged’ to stand on the bank for some photos of the wildlife.

One of Craig’s lawyers, Slager of Slager Madry LLC, explained that being in the wilderness ‘can be an incredibly rich experience’, but highlighted that the ‘responsibility’ to ensure the safety of visitors is up to tour operators.

Craig stated: “Her violent death is a devastating loss not only for our family, but for our community.”

Lisa is survived by husband Craig and her three children, as well as her brother Paul and granddaughter Lulu.

Scientists reveal what they predict humans will look like in 1,000 years and some changes might shock you

Scientists reveal what they predict humans will look like in 1,000 years and some changes might shock you

Apparently we’re going to be better looking, or at least our descendants are

1,000 years ago, back in good old 1025, Egypt was busy with a slave rebellion in their capital, a man named William the Fat was discussed as a possible candidate to be King of Italy (he didn’t get the job in the end), and Bolesław the Brave became King of Poland for 60 days before coming down with a bad case of dead.

Quite a lot has happened since then, too much to go into proper detail here, but the way people looked and lived has also changed significantly.

Just imagine what will happen in the next 1,000 years and what we’ll look like then.

Not you and I, dear reader, unless we can figure out immortality within the next few decades, we’ll both be long gone by the time 3025 rolls around.

However, if you don’t fancy imagining things, then listen to evolutionary geneticist Professor Mark Thomas, who told the Daily Mail what to expect from human development in this millennium.

The expert suggested that people might end up getting a bit shorter.

Human height depends on a number of factors, and a study from Oxford University found that better diets times of steady food production tended to have an impact on the average height.

Professor Thomas said that ‘one theory among many’ has some experts suggesting that shorter people are able to have kids sooner, so if more short people are having kids they’re more likely to have short children.

On the other hand he said this theory hadn’t been tested in population studies, so don’t feel smug about standing tall above your descendants.

It turns out that when Busted sang about the guy who’d been to the year 3,000, they might have been more correct than they knew about your great-great-great granddaughter being ‘pretty fine’.

That’s because Professor Thomas has suggested that since women are more able to choose who they partner up with, it’ll be more attractive guys who are more likely to father children.

Meanwhile, Professor Robert Brooks suggested that the brains of the future could be smaller as we won’t need to be quite as smart once computers are running everything, as horrifying as that might sound to some.

There have been studies on the brain mass of animals before and after domestication, which found that the brains of sheep, cows and dogs got smaller afterwards, so if we fully domesticate ourselves through technology, perhaps that could happen.

As a result, humanity 1,000 years from how could be a bunch of dumb, sexy short kings.

Then again, who could accurately predict what changes in the world and society will occur for the next 1,000 years, and the impact it’d have on what we look like?

NHS issues advice about what to do if you see blood while blowing your nose

Spotting the red stuff in your tissue isn’t a major cause for concern

The majority of Brits are never too far away from the tissue box throughout the winter months.

Amid the cold weather and seasonal viruses, people are constantly clearing their noses – but what happens if you see some blood?

Spotting the red stuff on your hankie might give you a bit of a scare, but chances are, you’ve probably just been blowing your hooter too hard.

But if it rains rather than pours, then it might be a full blown nosebleed instead.

Again, this minor ailment is usually not serious or a cause for concern and can be treated at home.

It isn’t even classed as a nosebleed until it lasts longer than ten minutes, according to the NHS, so don’t panic if there is only a few splatters.

The NHS issued some advice for those who spot blood in their tissue (Getty Stock Images)

It explains that they occur because the ‘inside of the nose is easy to damage’ – and we can cause some chaos to it in a number of ways.

This includes picking your nose and blowing your nose too forcefully, while it can also bleed if the inside of your nose is too dry.

This might be down to a change in air temperature, so take note of your surroundings if you experience this.

The majority of the time, you can stop the blood flow fairly quickly yourself.

What to do if you have a nosebleed?

According to the NHS, if you have a nosebleed you should sit down and lean forward, while your head is titled forward and your mouth is open.

Pinch your nose just above your nostrils for up to 15 minutes and you can also put an icepack, such as a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel, against the top of the nose to try reduce the blood flow too.

And if you don’t want to repeat the ordeal anytime soon, you should take it easy for the next 24 hours after a nose bleed.

To reduce the chances of getting struck down with one again, don’t mess with your nose in any capacity, and steer clear of hot drinks and alcohol.

As well as this, the NHS recommend avoiding heavy lifting, strenuous exercise and lying down flat.

If you can’t seem to shift your nosebleed after 15 minutes or so though, you might want to follow up with your GP.

Medical attention is only usually needed when an injury is involved, or if a person is on certain medication or has a specific condition.

But if you haven’t got smacked in the face with a bat recently and don’t tick the other two boxes either, you should be okay to sort yourself out at home.

The film sparked mass protests

When it comes to shocking films, lots seem to think that the movies of today are as out there as its got.

If you look at some of the films being released in the 80s, however, they make Babygirl and Nosferatu look like child’s play.

One specific film that fits that criteria is an Al Pacino serial killer thriller with ‘graphic’ unstimulated sex shown in the film amidst a murder scene – a double whammy.

Al Pacino starred in the film (Warner Brothers)

Even though it left fans shocked at how the director got away with this, it’s easy to argue this isn’t even in the top five most controversial parts of this thriller.

The film is called Cruising, and it features Pacino as a cop who is asked to go undercover as a members of New York’s gay community.

Specifically, his character is asked to infiltrate New York’s gay male leather community which is being targeted by a serial killer.

Even if you ignore the casual plot point of police in the film beating a bartender half to death to coerce a confession (only for it to turn out he wasn’t the killer), the film has numerous more bizarre moments.

One of these occurs in one of the murder scenes of the film in which a moment of unsimulated gay porn flashes across the scene.

It occurs at the exact moment the victim is stabbed, with one comment on a YouTube video of all the death scenes from the film saying: “Holy cr*p!!!!! How did [director William] Freidken get away with that!!!!???? Those are multiple frame of hardcore!”

Somehow the director, who also did The Exorcist, did get away it.

The film was based on a series of articles by journalist Arthur Bell about unsolved murders of gay men, though he later called for protests against the film.

Bell characterised Cruising as a ‘snuff film’, The Village Voice reported, and according to Friedkin, he wrote an ‘extremely inflammatory’ column about it and an interview encouraging LGBTQ+ people to ‘do violence’ – which Bell confirmed to The New York Times.

This led to a series of frankly iconic protests of production, who feared that the film would be damaging to the LGBTQ+ community.

Protests ranged from reflecting light using mirrors to mess with production’s lighting, blaring loud music during filming, and a march of over 1,000.

While Pacino didn’t have any concerns about the film at the time, he later revealed in his memoir, Sonny Boy, in 2024 that he felt the film was ‘exploitative’ of the gay community after having actually seen it in full.

He donated his check from the film and refused to promote it, saying in his book (via PEOPLE): “I took the money, and it was a lot, and I put it in an irrevocable trust fund.

“I gave it to charities, and with the interest, it was able to last a couple of decades. I don’t know if it eased my conscience, but at least the money did some good.”

He added that he wanted ‘one positive thing to come out of that whole experience’.

Friedkin later told The Wrap in 2013 that the film wasn’t ‘the best foot forward’ in terms of the gay right movement, however, he never intended it to be ‘critical of the gays’.

The 40-year-old actress, best known for portraying Ren Stevens on Even Stevens and voicing the titular character in Kim Possible, revealed the horrific details of her accident in an Instagram post.

“So I got shot in the eye. It was not fun. I am safe,” Romano said, pointing to a deep bruise underneath her right eye.

She pulled down her eyelid to expose severe redness and damage, and said: “This is really bad tonight,” before taking a moment to remind fans to “be grateful for every day”.

Despite the bruise, Romano kept her sense of humor, joking: “I get to say I got shot in the face, and lived to tell the tale.”

In the caption of the post, the Disney star explained that an unsafe gunshot from another party at the event is what led to her injury.

“Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present. There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” she penned.

Her husband, Brendan Rooney, immediately jumped into action and rushed her to the hospital as Romano was hit in five places, including one shot that was less than an inch from hitting her right eye directly.

Reflecting on the terrifying moment, she shared an emotional message of gratitude: “With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much.”

“I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant,” she added.

On Tuesday, February 11, Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano took to social media to share an update on her recovery after visiting an oculoplastic surgeon.

“It is a miracle,” she wrote. “The shot was less than 1mm from permanently blinding me. @drseanpaul also explained that the shot missed all the vital parts of my eye by moving around them like a marble hugging the curve of a bowl (it’s an anomaly).”

Doctors have determined that a pellet fragment below her eye cannot be removed, as attempting surgery could result in permanent blindness.

Another fragment lodged in her forehead has fused into her skull, and medics have decided to leave it in place since it could actually help the healing process.

Despite the close call, Romano assured her 751K followers that she “should fully recover with no issues at all.” However, she revealed an unexpected long-term consequence: “I may never be able to get an MRI again.”

Support poured in from fans, many expressing their relief at Romano’s recovery. “Wow that’s incredibly lucky holy moly. Sending you healing love!!!” one wrote. “Definitely a miracle! Im so happy you are okay,” another said.

“So happy for you. This moment will forever change the way you think about everything. Thanks for sharing…be well,” a third added.

‘Iron Mike’ has made a bold declaration

Mike Tyson is widely considered to be one of the greatest boxing professionals in history, however, he believes there is one man who clears him completely in punch strength.

Tyson may be more known nowadays for losing a boxing match to former YouTuber Jake Paul, an event which was watched by millions on Netflix, but don’t for a moment think this loss should be used as a reflection of his career overall.

After all, there’s a reason he’s known as ‘Iron Mike’.

With an overall record of 50 wins, 7 losses, and 2 no contests, Tyson’s place in boxing history was earned after he became the youngest fighter to ever hold the heavyweight title at age 20.

Tyson also won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, with 12 of those coming in the first round.

Which should give you an idea of how painful it would be to have been punched by Iron Mike in his prime.

Many boxing experts have even gone on to consider Tyson one of the hardest punchers in the history of the sport, but this isn’t a title which the 58-year-old necessarily agrees with.

When asked who he believed to be the hardest hitter ever to grace the heavyweight division, Tyson didn’t name himself but instead suggested George Foreman — yes, that George Foreman.

“[It’s George Foreman],” he reportedly told Fight Camp (via TalkSport). “I can’t match somebody’s power who’s that big and that much man.

“Only thing that allowed me to be exciting was that I did it faster than the other guys.”

Nicknamed ‘Big George’, Foreman enjoyed a boxing career which spanned three decades and only lost five of his 81 fights, with 68 of his wins coming from a knock out.

His most famous loss would come against Muhammad Ali in 1974’s ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, which ultimately saw Foreman handing over the heavyweight title and taking a year out.

Foreman has also proved that he has talents which exist outside of the boxing ring by launching his universally famous George Foreman grill in 1994, a cooking appliance which definitely featured in most of our homes growing up.

Tyson also admitted in the interview that he didn’t believe his power came naturally either, adding: “Nothing about me was natural… Only my desire to win was natural, I had a great teacher.

“Only you can do that. You’re born with it but somebody has to elicit that.”

Everything we know happened between Seth Rogen and James Franco before ending friendship of 20 years

Franco and Rogen starred in numerous projects together dating back to 1999

Seth Rogen and James Franco’s friendship defined an era of American comedy, yet haven’t starred in any project together since The Disaster Artist in 2017.

The drama film about Tommy Wiseau making The Room marked the final time the pair worked together, with James Franco later confirming their friendship is ‘over’.

This came after sexual assault and misconduct allegations were made against Franco, with Rogen finally speaking out just this week, saying ‘it really wasn’t on my radar’ when Franco said their friendship was over.

The full story however sees a 20 year friendship which dominated American comedy for years before it publicly fell apart.

Cult TV classic

Both Franco and Rogen appeared in Freaks and Geeks, a now beloved cult classic which was cancelled after just one season.

It features so many names that starred in it before they got famous it would make your head spin, with the pair joined in the cast by Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini, Busy Phillips, Martin Starr, Shia LaBeouf, and Rashida Jones.

Pineapple Express and more

The next project after this is arguably the one that many still know the pair for, Pineapple Express.

The film brought together the pair with other frequent collaborators such as Danny McBride and Craig Robinson.

They would then appear in numerous films together off the back of this, from This Is The End, in which they both played heightened versions of themselves to animated sex comedy Sausage Party, and The Interview, in which they infiltrated North Korea to ‘interview’ and kill Kim Jong Un.

During the press tour for The Disaster Artist, which had been eyed for Franco’s second Oscar nomination, five young women came forward to allege that the actor had been sexually inappropriate with them.

This happened while he acted in the position of either their mentor or teacher at an acting school he had started.

Franco was accused of creating the school to facilitate a ‘pipeline’ of young women to sleep with him. Though he rejected the idea of the ‘pipeline’ he admitted to sleeping with students.

The actor was also accused by an ex-girlfriend of ‘forcing’ her to perform oral sex on him in a car and Freaks and Geeks co-star Busy Phillips accused him of ‘violently’ shoving her to the ground and screaming at her while filming a scene.

Franco denied the allegation by his ex-girlfriend via his lawyers, stating the allegations were ‘not accurate’, while Phillips stated that he has ‘apologised’ to her.

What has Seth Rogen said and how did James Franco respond?

While Seth Rogen initially came out and said in 2018 he would continue to work with Franco, he later walked these comments back in 2021, saying: “What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that.

“I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I comment that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now.”

Franco said this ‘hurt’ in an interview with the Jess Cagle podcast, before later saying in a Variety interview: “No. I haven’t talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over, and not for lack of trying. I’ve told him how much he’s meant to me.”

Rogen was questioned about this in an interview with Esquire for his new show The Studio, which the interviewer said appeared to not be a surprise for the comedian – but that he also didn’t seem too happy with it.

He said: “Honestly, I absorb so little media that it really wasn’t on my radar”, with the interview noting ‘that is all he wants to say about that’.

Diddy launches £80 million lawsuit over 'substantial reputational harm' following release of new documentary

The 55-year-old is currently awaiting trial in a New York jail

A £80.5 million lawsuit has been filed against NBC by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs regarding a recent documentary made about his life.

The rapper, 55, is currently awaiting trial on a string of federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges in a New York jail, all of which he has denied and pleaded not guilty.

Today (12 January), his legal team announced that he is suing TV network NBC, as well as its streaming service Peacock and production company Ample over Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.

The one hour and 39 minute documentary, which aired last month, gave viewers a glimpse into Diddy’s early life and featured interviews from childhood friends, former employees and some of his alleged victims.

The synopsis for the show read: “Featuring never-before-seen footage and stories from those who know him best, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy sheds light on his childhood, rise to fame, and recent criminal allegations, challenging viewers to rethink everything they thought they knew about the mogul behind the music – and the mugshot.”

Diddy has slammed the documentary in a lawsuit filed in New York County’s Supreme Court (via The Independent) on 12 February, alleging that it is full of ‘fresh lies and conspiracy theories’.

The complaint claims that Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy included defamatory and false statements about the ‘Last Night’ rapper, while alleging that NBC wanted ‘to capitalise on the public’s appetite for scandal without any regard for the truth and at the expense of Mr Combs’s right to a fair trial’.

The lawsuit claims that the ‘entire premise of the documentary assumes that Mr Combs has committed numerous heinous crimes, including serial murder, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors’, according to the BBC.

Furthermore, it alleges that the documentary ‘maliciously and baselessly jumps to the conclusion that Mr Combs is a ‘monster’ while featuring claims which the creators supposedly ‘knew were false or published with reckless disregard as to whether they were false or not’.

The programme also ‘falsely, recklessly, and maliciously accuses Mr Combs of murdering’ people close to him, such as the mother of three of his children, Kim Porter, and rapper Biggie Smalls, according to the lawsuit.
