José de la Torre had previously opened up about his health struggles in June, revealing that he had been diagnosed with what he described as a ‘serious illness,’ Variety reports.

The diagnosis led him to step away from his acting career earlier this year to focus on receiving treatment.

De la Torre rose to prominence as part of the cast of Toy Boy, a gripping drama that debuted on Netflix in 2019 and spanned three seasons, concluding in 2021.

The series followed the story of Hugo Beltrán, portrayed by Jesús Mosquera, a male stripper on a quest to clear his name after being wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.

De la Torre’s portrayal of Iván, one of Hugo’s close allies, earned him acclaim and recognition among international audiences.

The show’s ensemble cast also included Cristina Castaño, María Pedraza, Carlo Costanzia, and Raudel Raúl Martiato, who helped bring the intense and emotional series to life.

Beyond Toy Boy, de la Torre’s acting career was marked by notable performances in several popular Spanish television productions.

Among his most significant roles was a recurring part in the long-running soap opera Amar es para siempre (To Love Forever), where he appeared in 36 episodes.

Set in the 1960s, the series explored the social and economic revival of Spain’s working class through the lens of a family-owned tavern.

De la Torre’s work in the show cemented his reputation as a versatile and talented actor.

His other television credits included appearances in Vis a Vis: El Oasis and Serve and Protect, where his performances left lasting impressions on viewers and critics alike.

Known for his dedication to his craft and his warm personality, de la Torre garnered a loyal fan base throughout his career.

The news of his untimely death has left fans and colleagues heartbroken.

Tributes have poured in on social media, celebrating his contributions to the entertainment industry and expressing condolences to his family.

De la Torre is survived by his father, Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo, his mother, Maria Jose Delgado Espejo, and his sister, Marina.

The family has requested privacy as they grieve their loss.

While the specific illness that claimed his life remains undisclosed, de la Torre’s courage in facing his health challenges and his lasting impact on the screen will ensure he is remembered fondly by audiences around the world.
