Tennant took a swipe at President Trump during his speech

David Tennant drew applause for firing a shot at Donald Trump during his opening speech at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards.

The actor mocked the President of the United States, moving on to discuss him by saying ‘speaking of villains’.

He went on to joke: “Donald Trump said he hasn’t seen The Apprentice — because it’s a 15. It’s not on Nickelodeon.”

He then joked that by saying his name three times ‘it’s like Beetlejuice – I’ve summoned him’.

Tennant’s jokes were controversial, as most things involving Trump tend to be, and led to the BBC cutting some of his remarks from the broadcast.

The awards are broadcast on a two hour delay, allowing the BBC to cut certain content as they wish, perhaps hoping to avoid their own version of the Oscars slap.

Tennant made the joke following an opening that featured several celebrity cameos, including Brian Cox, with the former Dr Who actor doing a rendition of ‘500 Miles’ by The Proclaimers.

The Scottish star is hosting tonight’s shows which has seen nominations from films such as Conclave, A Real Pain, Emilia Perez, and Anora in one of the last major award shows before the Oscars.

One viewer tweeted following the joke: “David Tennant saying ‘talking of villains’ after saying Donald trump oh I do adore him”.

Another said: “Trump’s hair in the apprentice… Talking about villains!” Oh David Tennant the man that you are.”

The actor came out and was unafraid to fire shots at a politician despite the controversy that followed a previous insult he made at the expense of Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch.

Tennant said that Badenoch should ‘shut up’ at the British LGBT awards upon receiving an award for being an ally, saying: “We shouldn’t live in a world where that is worth remarking on.

“However, until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist any more – I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up – whilst we do live in this world, I am honoured to receive this.”

This also isn’t the first time that Tennant has made a joke at the expense of Trump, or even the only time he has called the politician a ‘villain’.

Appearing on the Late Night with Seth Meyers show in 2015, Tennant discussed how villains ‘don’t know they’re villains’, before listing Donald Trump as an example of that.

He also fired a shot at the politician in 2018 when appearing on the Channel 4 comedy show the Last Leg.

Tennant discussed how Trump had done an interview in which he claimed Scottish people liked him due to his golf courses, finally saying: “Can I say on behalf of the Scottish nation, we f**king don’t.”

Nikocado Avocado lost 17 stone in two years

YouTuber Nikocado Avocado has revealed the ‘truth’ about how he managed to lose 17 stone in just two years.

The content creator, whose real name is Nicholas Perry, became social media famous from his viral mukbang (eating show) videos.

Perry would controversially eat more to put on weight during his mukbang videos, and in turn, his subscribers went up.

Last September, however, the 32-year-old shocked his followers after revealing that hadn’t filmed a video in two years.

Showing off an insane weight-loss transformation, the YouTuber said: “I am always two steps ahead. This has been the greatest social experiment of my entire life.

“It’s worrying, it’s compelling, it’s gripping to observe all these unwell, disorientated beings roam the internet in search of stories, ideas, rivalries where they feel encouraged, engaged.”

Now, in a recent video he appeared to level with his viewers and told them exactly how he lost the weight.

“Okay, so I’m just going to come out with it… I did a procedure, another one. So y’all know about the face one. I couldn’t stop there,” he said.

“So, the truth is, when I came back to the internet… I was concealing something.

“Now, everyone was like, ‘Show us your loose skin’.

“Most people around that time already thought that I’d had skin removal surgery. I didn’t want to address it, and the reason was because I didn’t have skin removal surgery and I had a lot of loose skin.

“I knew I would have some, and I was hiding it. I was hiding it in my clothes.”

Perry explained that it took a long time to lose the weight, adding: “I lost 250lbs (17 stone) and it took a very long time. It took 2.3 years. And I did it very slowly, we’re talking about eight pounds a month.

“I’m just going to come out with it – I plateaued for some months. Sometimes I lost nothing or I gained two pounds, then the next month I lost 10 or 11, so averaged around eight pounds a month.”

He continued: “And at the end of it, I had a lot of loose skin on my belly, my arms, my thighs, my torso, everywhere.

“There was loose skin all over my body. When you take out the fluid and the fat, it’s just skin. You can kind of tuck it under your pants and hide it, and that’s what I decided to do.

“I did not want to get skin removal surgery at that time, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I can handle it.’ I was really nervous for it.”

But with the help of Dr. Timothy Katzen, he was able to remove 10 pounds of skin, which the social media star has called a ‘superior version of a tummy tuck’.

“I am loving my results. I feel so good. I haven’t felt this good for, like, ever in my entire life,” he said.

There’s a reason it’s always gloomy on Shutter Island

A TikTok user has revealed yet more blink and you’ll miss it moments from Martin Scorsese’s neo-noir film Shutter Island.

The thriller is one of those movies were every rewatch you have you wondering how you didn’t see the infamous twist coming.

Spoilers below of course.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, and Michelle Williams, Shutter Island follows the story of Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio), US Marshall with a fear of water who’s been sent to investigate the disappearance of a patient housed at a psychiatric hospital on a small, inhospitable island.

However, nothing can quite prepare you for the revelation that Teddy is actually a man named Andrew Laeddis, a man who murdered his wife after discovering that she’d drowned their three children.

The whole plot of the film is then revealed to be an attempt to get Andrew to remember why he’s in the hospital, with his ‘partner’ Chuck Aule (Ruffalo) revealed to be his primary doctor.

The reveal of Teddy’s true identity is completely mind-blowing the first time you watch the film, until you begin rewatching and realise that Martin Scorsese had been dropping hints to us the whole time.

So what are the hints thrown our way?

Rain and water feature heavily in the film (Paramount Pictures)

You may have already spotted more obvious clues such as the fact that Teddy doesn’t his own lighter, the behaviour of the guards and Chuck’s inexperience with a gun — but this content creator wants you to pay very close attention to the use of water in the film.

Explaining his observations in a TikTok, a film analyst who goes by the username @longmirelp, explained that Teddy has a hatred of water due to his children’s demise. “When the movie opens up he’s on a boat and he’s throwing up, you assume it’s due to seasickness,” he explained. “But there are clues throughout the movie suggesting it’s not the rocking of the boat, it’s the literal sight of water that’s making him sick.”

The creator also points out how a glass of water a patient is drinking vanishes in Teddy’s POV, suggesting he refuses to see it.

Water is then referenced multiple times in a scene with Kingsley’s Dr. John Cawley as they try to get Teddy to remember his true identity.

Scorsese also utilises the weather to hint at Teddy’s refusal to acknowledge the truth, as the majority of the film is set during a rainstorm.

That’s right, pathetic fallacy actually exists outside of our GCSE English lessons in school.

“Water represents the truth, but he doesn’t want to see the truth,” the creator adds, noting that the rain ceases once Teddy accepts that he is Andrew.

“The rain from the angry storm is the truth of what happened to his kids trying to slip back into his consciousness.”

Martin Scorsese, take a bow.

YouTuber Simon Wilson went to North Korea in 2019 for his Birthday

A British vlogger who decided to head to North Korea for his Birthday – as you do – has revealed what he personally experienced during the trip.

Simon Wilson embarked on a random journey to the ‘independent socialist state’ back in 2019, and it completely changed his perception.

How he got there

To travel to North Korea as a tourist, you can normally only do so as part of an organised tour.

Independent travellers though, will need a sponsor and permission from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

“I started Googling. I started speaking to a few people, and it’s actually easier than you think,” the YouTuber told the Happy Hour Podcast in 2020.

“You know, people sort the visa out for you. They sort the flights out. They sort, it’s like a full itinerary trip.

“And you know, you can do it for three days, go to North Korea for the weekend, or you can do it for a week, two weeks, as long as you want.”

No cell phone service

The solo adventure started off with a 24-hour train ride into Pyongyang, the country’s capital, where he met up with his North Korean tour guides.

“So as soon as you cross that border into North Korea from China, like, no internet, no phone signal,” he explained.

“No, your phone is just dead. So, like, I didn’t have any contact to anywhere outside of North Korea for two weeks.”

Simon said he was joined by tourists from other countries, such as the Netherlands and Germany.

No camera restrictions

“I would say North Korea was one of the places that I felt the safest I’ve ever been,” he admitted.

“I had my camera set up, and before I’m going in, I’m like, ‘Can I like take my camera in? Can I take the tripod in? Can I take the mic in? Can I take this in? Can I take that in?’

“And they just, like, ‘Yeah, whatever you want’.

“I’m like, ‘Can I film everything? Like, what can I film? What can I not?’

“They were like, ‘We’ll tell you when you can’t film,’ right?

“Like, don’t film the buildings, because they’re protected by the military. And don’t film the military. They’re the two big no nos.”

Simon claimed that the tour guides had never heard of YouTube and, along with the country’s residents, don’t have a passport and cannot travel out of North Korea.

However, North Koreans can travel out of the country, as long as they have permission from the government.

Alberto Nonino had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in the middle of his event

Italy’s Alberto Nonino was going for glory in the 400m race but during the unforgiving decathlon event, onlookers saw more than they bargained for.

Hosted in Cali, Colombia, the comp consists of 10 events; A 100m sprint, long jump, shot-put, high jump, 400m run, 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and a 1,500m run.

It’s a gruelling event, and you’d be worried about sustaining an injury or becoming exhausted given that all ten events have to be fit into two days.

But this competitor had a unique problem to deal with mid-race… take a look:

Starting in the middle lane, the athlete got off to a great start, but it didn’t take long for viewers to notice that he had started to move a bit oddly, using his hand to adjust his shorts.

Well, it turns out that Nonino’s penis had come out, with sports journalist David Sanchez de Castro making a bold observation of the incident.

The reporter explained: “Perhaps I’ve explained myself poorly. His penis escaped out of the side of his shorts and he had to hold it because it wasn’t allowing him to run properly which is normal when your dongle is swinging from side to side.”

The athlete desperately tried to rectify the issue as his legs pounded the pavement, however it seems like nothing worked.

Despite being close to the front of the pack at the beginning of the race, he fell to the back by the time the running group rounded the final corner for the final sprint.

He finished last with a time of 51.57 seconds, with the clip going viral for all the wrong reasons.

While it might not have been the moment he hoped to attract headlines for, he chose to look on the bright side.

Nonino took to Instagram to send a message to his fans following the blunder.

“I just want to talk to you a little bit about the rumpus there’s been on blogs and social media in general,” he said at the time.

“I’m conscious it was obviously an accident and I’d like to tell you I’m aware of the reaction and you don’t need to send me the links to the blogs out there.

“I’m trying to laugh about it now but immediately afterwards I felt terrible and I’m thankful to my friends and family for helping me get over what happened a few hours later.”

The sportsman said it’s lucky he’s a resilient person as this type of incident could have been devastating to someone else.

“The journalistic world worries about cases of bullying throughout Italy and around the world and then publishes these articles that for a more sensitive person could have done a lot of harm,” he added, according to the Daily Star.

The teen tragically disappeared after jumping into the water on 24 May, 2023

Here is the devastating story of an American teenager who vanished after jumping off of a boat into ‘shark-infested waters’ while holidaying in the Bahamas.

In May 2023, 18-year-old Cameron Robbins had just graduated from high school in Louisiana when he travelled to Caribbean islands for a celebration with friends onboard Blackbeard’s Revenge cruise ship.

However, the trip would end in tragedy after Robbins allegedly jumped from the side of an evening booze cruise into the water below.

According to several reports from witnesses, the teenager had gone overboard as a ‘dare’, with the aftermath being filmed and subsequently posted online.

This would be the final sighting of Robbins.

In the clip, Robbins can be seen swimming away from the a life ring in the dark waters while passengers attempt to get his attention. “This kid f***ing jumped off! Oh my f***ing God,” one person can be heard shouting in the clip, while another tries to direct him to the life preserver.

It’s not known what happened to Robbins after the footage ended.

According to Jonathan Chia, a spokesperson for the cruise ship’s parent company, Pirates’ Revenge Ltd, Robbins went overboard at approximately 9:40pm local time, as he told The Independent: “The crew executed the ‘man overboard’ protocol in line with all approved safety procedures and company policies to ensure the best chance of retrieving an individual who has gone overboard.”

An official search for Robbins was subsequently led by the US Coastguard and Royal Bahamas Defence Force, but was called off days later, after being able to find any sign of the teenager.

The US Coastguard offered their ‘sincerest condolences’ to Robbin’s family: “We were informed by the RBDF this evening that they were suspending the active search efforts pending further developments, and were not requesting further Coast Guard assistance after notifying the Robbins family.”

Concerns about the presence of sharks in the water was raised by RBDF Commodore Raymond King, who said in a press release at the time: “I can tell you that area where an individual reportedly jumped over, it’s an area that is really shark-infested as well.

He continued: “The probability of survival decreases significantly particularly if a person did not have on a life vest and particularly if a person is perceived to be intoxicated.”

Concerns about the presence of sharks – such as tiger sharks – in the water were also raised by people who viewed the clip, with many believing that a disturbance in the water seen in the first few seconds of the video was likely the animal.

Meanwhile others suggested that the presence of a tiger shark could explain why Robbins appeared to be swimming away from the life preserver.

Robbins was ultimately presumed dead, with his family sharing a heartbreaking tribute online.

“Though he left this world far too soon, he lived a life full of good friends and family. He was funny and kind-hearted, but also intense and driven. He doted on his grandparents and he took pride in his work,” the tribute read.

“He will be missed desperately by his family and friends, who will carry their cherished memories of him to eternity.”

A GoFundMe was later being set up to support his family.

Former astronaut shares terrifying details about reality of asteroid that has chance of hitting Earth in seven years

Retired spaceman Chris Hadfield compared the asteroid to ‘a bullet zeroing in on Earth from deep space’

A former astronaut has shared a worrying prognosis for the world about what could happen if the 2024 YR4 asteroid hits the planet in seven years.

The now-retired spaceman Chris Hadfield, 65, has put his two pence in the ongoing conversation surrounding what could happen if it really does make a beeline for Earth.

NASA are set to use the James Webb Telescope – which is the largest, most powerful and most complex telescope ever launched in the solar system – to get a better idea of what we’re in for.

Currently, it is estimated that the asteroid, which was discovered in Chile on December 27 last year, has a 2.3 percent chance of colliding with our planet.

Since 2024 YR4 was spotted, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding what would happen if it did hit us, with NASA reportedly making emergency preparations just in case it does.

Scientists have been sharing their thoughts on the saga, while a list of countries which could be impacted by the huge chunk of rock has also been released.

There’s even simulations of the impact which 2024 YR4 could have – and needless to say, it doesn’t look very good.

Now, Hadfield has shared his expert opinion on the asteroid, which supposedly has the capability to ‘destroy cities’ due to it’s staggering size.

Former astronaut Chris Hadfield warned that the asteroid is '500 times more powerful than the biggest bombs' in WW2 (LBC)

Former astronaut Chris Hadfield warned that the asteroid is ‘500 times more powerful than the biggest bombs’ in WW2 (LBC)

The asteroid, which is estimated to measure between 40 and 90 meters (130-295 feet) at the moment, could pummel into our planet on December 22, 2032.

As it was first spotted around the festive period and intends to make it’s return to us then too, Hadfield is dubbing it ‘the Christmas asteroid’ rather than 2024 YR4…which I suppose does have a slightly better ring to it.

During an appearance on LBC this week, the former astronaut and engineer explained why this asteroid in particular has caught everyones attention.

“Because it has a probability of hitting us and doing damage, we’re really having a good look,” he said, before explaining that the asteroid is essentially loaded with ‘7.7 megatons worth of of TNT’.

“It’s about 500 times more powerful than the biggest bomb we exploded during World War 2,” Hadfield continued.

“So think of the destruction we wrought on each other in Hiroshima and Nagasaki…this is 500 times more powerful than that, just because of the energy of it coming through the atmosphere, causing shockwaves and because of the heating, [then] exploding.

“It’s like a grenade. A grenade is no bigger than your fist, but it can do damage over a wide area. This is a grenade that’s 60 metres across.”

The asteroid could potentially strike the planet in 2032 (Getty Stock Image)

The asteroid could potentially strike the planet in 2032 (Getty Stock Image)

Unlike the atomic bombs that decimated Japan, 2024 YR4 doesn’t come with the added threat of radiation – however, it still has the potential to cause untold devastation.

Although Hadfield acknowledged the asteroid is ‘just a rock, or collection of stones’, he explained it’s speed is the scary thing about it.

The former fighter pilot, who also served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years, went on: “[It’s] a collection of stones and rock going 17 kilometres a second. The Space Station is only going 8km a second, I lived up there for half a year. It’s going twice as fast as the Space Station. Like a bullet zeroing in on Earth from deep space.”

But like a host of other experts have already explained, Hadfield said the chances of it hitting us are slim.

“The odds are it’s going to miss us,” he added. “And by springtime, we’ll know even better. The best part is, we have plans if we know for sure.”

So, don’t fret people – as the boffins of the world have a backup plan if 2024 YR4 really does want to pay us a visit.

The YouTube star has revealed how much money was doled out in total

MrBeast has shared a full breakdown of the winnings which were dished out during his recent competition series.

And after taking a look at the laundry list of handouts he claims to have made, you’ll understand why Beast Games has been dubbed the most expensive game show in history.

One thousand contestants were put through their paces in a Squid Game-style tournament hosted by the internet star, in the hopes of bagging the mammoth $10million grand prize.

MrBeast, 26, spent around around $14million building the ‘Beast City’ in Toronto, Canada, to host the games, which involved a series of gruelling mental and physical challenges.

The YouTube star, real name Jimmy Donaldson, also gave away upwards of £25 million to contestants throughout the show, which had a staggering budget of £79,600,000.

That’s on top of doling out a ‘private island, Lamborghinis, and millions more in cash throughout the competition’ – so essentially, it cost an arm and a leg to bring Beast Games to life.

Player 831, AKA Jeff Allen, ended up taking the crown – but interestingly, he will only take home $5.03 million after taxes.

After viewers got wind that the US’ Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will also be getting a large chunk of the jackpot, fans turned their focus to other cash prizes which were awarded during the competition.

Luckily for those lot, MrBeast had previously taken to social media to clarify exactly how much money was bestowed to contestants throughout Beast Games.

In total, the Kansas-born social media star explained that $25,019,995 had been awarded to players.

According to his post on X, he stumped up $10,004,242 for the grand prize as well as another $4.2million for the MoneyLion giveaway.

He dished out another $1.8million here, another $1million there – as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to some of the other 1,000 Beast Games participants.

The lowest amount awarded was $5,000, while Mr Beast explained that every single person who took part in the reality show was awarded $2,000.

Don’t worry though, as the content creator hasn’t been left in financial disrepair despite appearing to break the bank for Beast Games.

According to Forbes, MrBeast boasts a net worth of $85million, so even if it had came out of his own pocket, it’s a small drop in the ocean for him.

Despite airing Beast Games’ payouts to the world, people still had pressing questions about the money which had changed hands.

One fan asked MrBeast to provide an ‘inside look into the underwriting model of the show’, adding: “[I’m] interested in the returns with this level of costs incurred.”

Lee Mack apologised to The 1% club contestant Ally Davies during Saturday’s (15 February) episode

The presenter, 56, paused the ITV show after he ‘felt ashamed’ for his jibe at contestant Ally Davies during Saturday’s (15 February) episode.

Although Davies appeared to be fine with the witty remark, Mack insisted that it ‘was too much’.

For those unaware, The 1% Club is a popular game show, which sees 100 contestants – all with a £1,000 stake – battle it out with the hopes of getting to the latter stages.

Mack immediately apologised to the contestant (ITV)

With 15 increasingly difficult questions to get through, the aim is to correctly answer the last winning question that only ‘one percent of the nation knows the answer to’.

If they get it right, there’s a whopping £100,000 cash prize up for grabs.

Now, Mack returned to our screens over the weekend and started things off with the first ’90 percent question’ of the show.

The comedian asked contestants to unscramble letters on a can to make the two-word food ‘tomato soup’.

However, Davies was the only one to get the question wrong.

“So, we’ve lost one person, Ally Davies,” Mack said, before she replied: “Such a div.”

“Oh, Ally, Ally, Ally. What happened?” the host continued.

Davies then explained: “Because I’m 70 in March, and I wanted to come on the show and at least do well.”

She said she would have loved to spend the prize money on loads of different pairs of glasses to match her outfits.

Mack then joked: “Well, you came on the show, the first part worked,” adding: “Okay, yeah, keep trying different pairs until you can see the word soup.”

Although Davies knew where he was coming from, the presenter was fast to apologise.

“Sorry, that was a bit harsh. I’m sorry, that was too much,” he said.

“No, I’m wrong. I feel ashamed, because usually I go for somebody and have a laugh with them, then turn to the next person and do the same with them.

“I’ve forgotten you’re the only one that was out. Unlucky, Ally.”

This comes after fans were divided by the final question on last week’s episode (9 February), which saw winner bag £99,000.

The question Mack asked was: “If you remove all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all of the remaining letters.”

And the sentence they had to pick the letters from was: “ANIMAL TOSHUNINSTAMPEDE.”

Fans became divided by this sentence because when you take away all of the underlined letters, you’re left with: Thpelean.

Then if you rearrange them to something mildly readable, you’ve got the correct answer: Elephant.

The health woes didn’t end there either as George needed to undergo a lung biopsy due to enlarged lymph nodes in the area, before doctors discovered he would need further surgery due to complications with his pacemaker.

Finally on the end, the singer has now opened up about his health ordeal in a new interview with The Sun, revealing the results of his lung biopsy and why he needed further heart surgery.

The cause of his post surgery discomfort would be uncovered after George was admitted to hospital, when a representative for his pacemaker company revealed the wires had been inserted ‘too deeply’ into his heart.

He then underwent a second heart-op to correct the issue, after being warned that he was at risk of bleeding out during the surgery.

“I was worried it could go wrong again and felt anxious that it could bleed out,” Max recalled of the situation.

Fortunately his second heart operation was a success, meaning the singer can now focus on recovery. He also received the news that his vocal cords hadn’t been damaged during the lung biopsy and is now focused on returning to his old self again.

“The biopsy was pretty gnarly, it’s a camera with prongs on the end that goes down your throat. It was painful,” he said of the biopsy surgery. “The recovery was tough, I had chest pain and was coughing up blood for five days.”

However, the toughest part of the situation was seeing how it impacted his loved ones, adding that the ordeal had been completely ‘traumatic’ for this mother.

“The worst part for me is seeing my parents go through this. My mum has found it traumatic. I’ve tried to hold back from being upset in front of them,” he said.

“I feel helpless and responsible.”
