Mark Zuckerberg’s jet flies 12,316 km per flight, sparking environmental concerns.

Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Facebook (now Meta Platforms, Inc.), is not just known for his groundbreaking contributions to technology but also for his extravagant lifestyle. Recently, his private jet’s flights, averaging 12,316 kilometers per trip, have sparked significant environmental concerns. As the conversation around climate change intensifies, the implications of such long-distance air travel by billionaires like Zuckerberg cannot be overlooked.

The Rise of Private Jet Travel

In recent years, private jet travel has become a symbol of luxury and exclusivity among the wealthy elite. Mark Zuckerberg’s jet, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, allows him to traverse the globe in comfort and style. However, these flights come at a substantial environmental cost. The allure of flying privately has led to a surge in demand, with many high-profile individuals opting for their own jets, often prioritizing convenience over environmental impact.

Understanding the Environmental Impact

Long-haul flights contribute significantly to carbon emissions, with private jets being some of the most carbon-intensive forms of transportation. A single flight covering 12,316 kilometers can produce more emissions than the average person generates in an entire year. The aviation industry is responsible for about 2-3% of global carbon emissions, and as private jet usage rises among the wealthy, this percentage is likely to increase. As public awareness of climate change grows, the luxurious lifestyles of billionaires are increasingly scrutinized, leading to calls for greater accountability.

The Jet-Setting Lifestyle of the Elite

Zuckerberg’s jet is not just a mode of transportation; it represents a lifestyle of immense privilege. Frequent trips for business meetings, conferences, and personal escapes highlight the stark contrast between the lives of the ultra-wealthy and the average citizen. While many are encouraged to reduce their carbon footprints, the jet-setting habits of billionaires like Zuckerberg raise questions about accountability and responsibility. This stark disparity often leads to public backlash, as people feel that the ultra-rich are not doing enough to combat climate change while enjoying their lavish lifestyles.

The Call for Sustainable Practices

In light of these concerns, there is a growing call for the ultra-rich to adopt more sustainable practices. This includes considering alternative modes of transportation, carbon offset programs, and investing in green technologies. As a leader in the tech industry, Zuckerberg has the opportunity to set a precedent for sustainable practices among his peers. Initiatives such as using biofuels, enhancing the efficiency of private jets, or even opting for commercial flights when possible could significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

Moreover, the tech mogul’s influence could extend beyond his personal choices; he could champion environmental causes and encourage other billionaires to follow suit. By leveraging his platform, Zuckerberg could inspire a movement towards sustainability within the elite class, showing that luxury and responsibility can coexist.

Balancing Luxury and Responsibility

Mark Zuckerberg’s 12,316 km flights in his private jet serve as a reminder of the environmental challenges we face in a world where luxury and convenience often take precedence over sustainability. As discussions about climate change continue to evolve, it’s essential for influential figures like Zuckerberg to lead by example, demonstrating that it’s possible to embrace a luxurious lifestyle while also prioritizing the health of our planet.

Mark Zuckerberg's jet flies 12,316 km per flight, sparking environmental concerns.

In conclusion, the conversation surrounding the environmental impact of private jet travel is crucial. By addressing these concerns, we can collectively work towards a more sustainable future, encouraging the wealthy elite to take responsibility for their carbon footprints while inspiring others to follow suit. As we navigate this critical juncture in our fight against climate change, the actions of individuals like Zuckerberg will significantly impact not only the environment but also public perception of wealth and responsibility. By making conscious choices, they can help shape a more sustainable world for future generations.

Middle school student accidentally discovers groundbreaking new cancer-fighting compound

The incredible discovery by Camarria Williams has impressed scientists.

Camarria Williams collected goose droppings from a pond near Garfield Park in Chicago as part of a science project in collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC).

Laboratory tests showed that the excrement contained a compound that had never been seen before which slowed the growth of human melanoma and ovarian cancer cells.

Williams was one of a handful of middle school students taking part in the 14-week science program which focused on growing antibiotics from bacteria discovered from natural sources.

All the kids were aged between 11 and 14 and selected different things in their environment to sample for bacteria. Some of the students chose lake water, insects, flowers, a playground slide, and an air conditioning filter.

Under the supervision of Professor Brian Murphy and researchers from UIC, they collected 40 samples and performed over 5,500 tests. Some were then chosen for further analysis and the most promising samples were screened by UIC graduate students and postdoctoral mentors.

Williams’ goose dropping sample revealed a new compound scientists had not seen before. A press release published by the American Chemical Society explains one of the 14 samples of goose poo collected contained a strain of bacteria called Pseudomonas idahoensis. Research found it had antibiotic activity and produced a never-before-seen compound.

University researchers then determined the compound’s molecular structure using nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. They named the compound orfamide N.

Further testing could lead to even more breakthrough information (Getty Stock Image)

This compound was not responsible for the antibiotic activity the team originally observed from P. idahoensis, it did inhibit the growth of human melanoma and ovarian cancer cells in culture tests.

The discovery has made scientists excited because further tests and studies could potentially reveal further beneficial properties, the press release explains.

The incredible findings have been published in the journal ACS Omega, with Williams credited as a co-author.

Williams was recruited through the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago.

The press release says the purpose of the program is due to, ‘inequities in educational resources, especially those in science, engineering, technology and math (STEM), where experiments are expensive, have kept some students underrepresented in these fields’.

It adds that engaging young learners in real, high-quality research, the kids have a chance to learn and ‘see themselves as scientists and explore careers in science with hands-on experience’.

Passengers on flight ‘to nowhere’ as plane flies for four hours but lands back at same airport it took off from

The flight departed Amsterdam on Sunday (December 1)

Passengers were left perplexed on a flight ‘to nowhere’ as their plane flew for four hours before landing back at the same airport it took off from.

Imagine getting to the airport, going through the stressful security ordeal, boarding a flight and taking to the skies for four hours only to land at the airport you took off from. Well, that’s exactly what happened to passengers hoping to leave Amsterdam last weekend.

The Aviation Herald first reported that a KLM Boeing 777 plane had to u-turn over the Atlantic Ocean after initially leaving Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport for Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname.

The flight, which departed on Sunday (December 1), left on time according to data from Flightradar24.

However, the aircraft made a swift return to Amsterdam two hours into the flight – ultimately landing back at Schiphol Airport four hours after takeoff.

The pilots had told air traffic control the plane had suffered a small leak, hence the return to the Dutch capital.

The Aviation Herald notes the pilots did not specify what kind of leak lead to the KLM plane to turn around over the Atlantic Ocean.

Passengers flew to Suriname, which still uses Dutch as its official language after being a former colony, around eight hours after the initial departure time.

The flight takes around nine hours in total, with passengers flying on a replacement aircraft to get to their destination.

As for the 777 Boeing aircraft that had to make a return, that returned to the skies the following day on December 2, as per Flightradar24.

A KLM spokesperson told Business Insider a ‘technical malfunction’ caused the plane to return to Amsterdam, adding: “As a precaution, the aircraft returned after two hours of flying.”

UNILAD has reached out to KLM for further comment.

It’s not the first time a plane has landed at the same airport it took off from.

Passengers on the American Airlines flight from the Texas city to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea, on September 7 were in the air for nine hours in total just to return to the airport the plane took off from.

An American Airlines spokesperson told UNILAD: “On September 7, American Airlines flight 281 with service from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Seoul (ICN) returned to DFW due to a maintenance issue.

“The flight landed safely and without incident at DFW, and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team.

“We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans, and we apologize for the inconvenience.”

Billionaire’s Fiancée Explodes In Rage After Discovering His Plan To Take Mystery Woman To UFC 310

Recently, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has found himself in the midst of media attention once again, but this time for a more personal matter. After a publicized argument with his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, Bezos was seen attending a sporting event, accompanied by his beautiful sister, Christina Bezos. This sparked curiosity among fans and media outlets alike, as it seemed to reveal a side of Bezos that was far from his usual business persona. Here’s a closer look at the situation and what it might mean for the billionaire.

The Argument with Fiancée Lauren Sánchez

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have been in the public eye for quite some time, as their relationship has evolved from speculation to a solid partnership. However, like many high-profile relationships, theirs has faced its share of challenges. The couple, who have been together for a few years now, recently had a disagreement that was reportedly significant enough to cause tension between them. While the details of the argument have not been fully disclosed, it’s clear that it was something worth mentioning in tabloids.

Bezos and His Sister at the Match

Following the argument, Bezos was spotted at a sporting event with his sister, Christina Bezos. The two appeared to enjoy the match, and Christina, who is known for her low-key and private lifestyle, seemed to be offering support during this emotionally charged time. Their public appearance together was a reminder that even some of the world’s richest individuals need to lean on family during personal conflicts.

Christina, who is not as much in the spotlight as her brother, has been seen with Jeff on a few occasions, often attending events with him but staying out of the media’s glare. This outing with Bezos following a public dispute with Lauren could be seen as a way for him to find comfort in the company of family, away from the public scrutiny and personal tensions he might have been facing.

Public Reaction and Media Frenzy

The sight of Jeff Bezos with his sister after such a heated argument with his fiancée naturally captured the media’s attention. Given that Bezos is one of the wealthiest and most influential figures in the world, any personal situation involving him is bound to be dissected by tabloids and news outlets. The combination of a family outing and the ongoing tension in his romantic life created the perfect storm for speculation and rumor-mongering.

In this case, however, the public seemed to sympathize with Bezos. Many fans found it refreshing to see the billionaire away from his usual business dealings and spending time with a family member who is rarely seen in the limelight. There were also those who speculated that the relationship with his fiancée might be under strain, and the appearance with his sister could suggest that he is seeking emotional support.

The appearance of Jeff Bezos and his sister Christina at the sporting event following a public argument with his fiancée brings a glimpse into the personal life of the tech mogul, reminding us that even the richest individuals experience challenges in their relationships. Whether the argument is a minor bump in the road or a sign of deeper issues, only time will tell. However, what is clear is that Bezos is not shy about leaning on his family during tough times, and his outing with Christina is just one of many ways he can find solace in the face of personal turmoil.

Elizabeth Hirschhorn allegedly squatted in the dentist’s LA home for a year and a half

While there are people out there who don’t know where to turn to to find affordable accommodations, one Airbnb tenant renting a luxury home in Brentwood, LA resorted to a questionable solution to put a pretty expensive roof over her head.

Elizabeth Hirschhorn rented a $3.8 million home from dentist Sascha Jovanovic, but has avoided paying rent after her booking was extended.

The tenant, who has since left Jovanovic’s house, originally rented the home for six months in 2021.

Her occupancy was supposed to end in March 2022, but Jovanovic agreed to prolong her stay until April. But Hirschhorn still didn’t leave, sparking the dentist to file an eviction notice.

Apparently the pair agreed a fee of $105 a night when Hirschhorn first moved in – $110 cheaper than what was advertised on Airbnb.

The woman has reportedly paid $20,793 for the first chunk of rent, but has refused to pay since April 2022.

While Jovanovic filed an eviction notice, a judge went on to rule in Hirschhorn’s favour.

Local regulations mean landlords must provide resettlement assistance if they don’t have a legal reason to evict a tenant.

As well as this, Hirschhorn’s lawyers argued the guesthouse is violating a Department of Building and Safety’s code after the owner built in a shower that wasn’t approved.

With the judge’s ruling in mind, Jovanovic sued Hirschhorn in two different cases: a damages complaint to recoup $58,000 in unpaid rent, and an appeal of the judge’s decision to dismiss the eviction case.

Hirschhorn squatted in the property until November 2023 for 575 days. If she were to have paid the original fee of $105 per night, her total she would owe Jovanovic $60,375.

Jovanovic rented out the guesthouse to Hirschhorn.

This doesn’t include any cleaning or other additional charges that are often added on to the final fee after renting an Airbnb property.

While Jovanovic argued that Hirschhorn owes him money, she wanted an eye-watering $100,000 from him to leave the property.

In Hirschhorn’s countersuit, she has accused the Airbnb host of 15 different violations including including negligence, nuisance, intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Jovanovic has now returned to his LA villa, saying he was ‘very relieved and also a bit overwhelmed’.

It’s unclear if Jovanovic ever managed to recoup any of the unpaid rent he claimed he was owed.

Netflix subscribers cannot get enough of a ’10/10′ new thriller series that has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

With the amount of Christmas parties and drinks taking place over the next couple of weeks, what better way to get rid of the next day hangxiety than binge-watching a new Netflix series?

And a good place to look if you don’t even know where to start is social media, with Netflix users constantly speaking about what they are currently watching.

The current talk of the town is Black Doves – a British spy thriller staring the likes of Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire.

Helen (Knightley), the wife of the Secretary of State for Defence, quickly discovers that her identity as a Black Dove is in jeopardy after her lover is killed by London’s underworld.

With the help from an old friend, Helen finds things incredibly difficult in this new thriller series, but with the extra help, things may not be as bumpy.

Many viewers have flocked to the likes of Twitter to praise Black Doves, which is making even more people delve into this thrilling spy series.

One Netflix subscriber took to Twitter and wrote: “Goddddd BLACK DOVES is 10/10. And even with 6 episodes it still feels like a completely fleshed out show with world building and real characters, quick-witted dialogue AND gay stuff! What more could you want from a series? Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw you will ALWAYS be famous.”

A second added: “Impressed by Netflix casually dropping the ridiculously entertaining #BlackDoves at the end of the year without much fanfare as if it wasn’t an absolute triumph. People are going to be quoting the dialogue for years.”

Meanwhile, a third remarked: “Just finished binge watching Black Doves on Netflix. It was really good. Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Andrew Koji carried.”

Black Doves sits at a hugely impressive 98 percent Rotten Tomatoes score following its release on Netflix earlier this week.

Rebecca Nicholson, from the Guardian, penned in her review: “Inevitably, this will earn comparisons to the other big spy shows of the year. It isn’t as composed or as witty as Slow Horses, and not as self-serious as The Day of the Jackal, but in among the chaos, it finds its own voice.”

While the Financial Times’ Dan Einav wrote: “Black Doves manages to be as enjoyable to watch as it evidently was for an ar*e-kicking Knightley and co to make.”

Rudiger Koch is trying to break the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent living in an underwater fixed habitat

A man who is planning on living underwater for 120 days hopes it will ‘change the way we think about human life’.

59-year-old Rudiger Koch is currently living in a submerged capsule off the coast of Panama, having started his challenge on September 26.

He’s now around half-way through his challenge and hopes to make it to 120 days, meaning he’ll resume his normal life on January 24.

Missing kids found living with FLDS Church

The current Guinness World Record for longest time spent living in an underwater fixed habitat is held by US native Joseph Dituri.

Dituri lived in a capsule just off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, last year for 100 days.

But Koch wants to beat this and plans on remaining submerged in his 322-square-foot living space for 120 days, taking him through to the New Year.

He has everything he needs in there: a bed, toilet, TV, computer, an exercise bike and internet.

Koch is missing a proper shower, however.

He has access to the rest of his team via a vertical tube that’s connected from his capsule to another chamber perched above the waves. From this, he receives food and curious journalists have been sent down to visit him.

His wife and kids have also been visiting him while he undertakes the unusual challenge.

Speaking about what it’s like living down there, Koch told AFP: “In the night, you can hear all the crustaceans.

“There’s the fish out there, and there’s all that stuff, and that wasn’t here before we came.”

In addition to breaking the current Guinness World Record, Koch hopes that his test could make waves elsewhere.

“Moving out to the ocean is something we should do as a species,” he said.

“What we are trying to do here is prove that the seas are actually a viable environment for human expansion.”

While some people would get cabin fever from being in a small space for such a long period of time, Koch insists he doesn’t mind his current living arrangements.

“I don’t feel like I’m suffering down here, not at all,” Koch said.

“That hardest is probably, sometimes I would like to go diving.”

Four cameras are monitoring Koch while he’s submerged which will act as evidence to prove how long he’s been down there, as well as give his team the chance to monitor his health.

As to what Koch is going to do when he resurfaces next month, he says his first port of call will be getting a ‘real shower’.

Bridger Walker underwent two hours of surgery following the attack

A boy is being hailed a hero after risking his own life to save his sister from a brutal dog attack.

Back in 2020, Bridger Walker, six at the time, jumped in front of a German Shepard after the dog lunged at them while at a friend’s house in Wyoming.

The child was left needing 90 stitches to repair the damage done to his face, a procedure that involved him being in surgery for two hours.

Explaining what he did that horrible day, Bridger said ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me’.

Hawk Tuah Woman shares ups and downs of going viral

Speaking about the incident a year on, Bridger’s dad, Robert Walker, told People in 2021 how his son very much stood by those strong words.

He said: “My wife and I asked him, ‘Do you want it to go away?’ And he said, ‘I don’t want it to go all the way away,'” the father of five says. “Bridger views his scar as something to be proud of, but he also doesn’t see it as being representative of his brave act. He just perceives it as, ‘I was a brother and that’s what brothers do.’ It’s a reminder that his sister didn’t get hurt, and that she is okay.

“It almost bothers him sometimes when he’s called a hero, because he [thinks], ‘Maybe I could have done more to shield her’.”

The boy has been hailed a hero online, with his story recirculating on Reddit recently.

“Well done little man, braver than a lot of people at such a young age…” one person said.

A second added: “This lil hero better get everything from his Christmas list this year.”

Bridger’s story also garnered praise from many celebrities, including the likes of Anne Hathaway, Chris Evans, and Tom Holland.

The latter even said he would invite the boy onto the set of Spider-man: No Way Home, and he kept to his promise.

Robert took to Instagram and penned: “Remember when @tomholland2013 promised Bridger he could come to the filming of Spider-Man? He delivered!

“When we first arrived on set, I was a little apprehensive that once the ‘curtain was pulled back’ that the magic of the movies would be lost for the kids.

“The opposite was true! Tom, Zendaya, Harry, @lifeisaloha, @tonyrevolori, and the entire cast/crew made our kids feel like stars. They don’t just act the part of friendly neighborhood heroes – that’s what they truly are.”

The YouTuber splashed nearly $5,000 on refunded Apple products which he claims were worth double that

A YouTuber who bought nearly $5,000 returned Apple products and then tried to flog them for more has shared the results online.

With some tech fanatics trying to stay up to date with all the latest gifts and gadgets, some products end up getting returned and YouTuber Harrison Nevel decided to try and take advantage of this.

Nevel took to YouTube last year to reveal that he’d sourced various Apple products that had been returned, splashing $4,595 on products he claimed to be worth nearly $10,000.

Taking a quick peek of them out of the boxes, YouTuber decided to take them all to a pawn shop in an attempt to sell them and make a profit, seeing ‘how much money we potentially made or lost’.

The YouTuber discovered that many iPads were in the boxes of different generations.

“We have five of them that are worth $600 new, now I would be happy if we could maybe pull half of that, maybe a little less than half out of that, so we’re talking maybe $200 to $300 a piece because we can get $200 of each of these – that’s $11,000 right there,” he explained in the video.

With all that tech in hand, Nevel was feeling confident he’d been able to make a sizeable profit.

As the Apple products are not in a great working order, Nevel began by disappointingly only getting $80 for two of them at a pawn shop.

Another iPad was locked, so the shop refused to buy it altogether unless it could be unlocked.

Meanwhile, Nevel also attempted to use an automatic device seller to shift the iPad.

The result? $35; the YouTuber decided to decline.

In the end, Nevel made $3,750 from the unwanted Apple products, but that is, of course, far less than what it paid for it – a whopping $845 less to be precise.

“We’re probably in a little bit of a negative but that’s why nobody bought the box off of that website and why we’re here to take the risks,” Nevel concluded in the video.

Many viewers have flocked to the comments section, with the vast majority surprised at the money Nevel made.

“$80 for an iPad?! That’s an insane low ball offer I would have refused,” one person commented, while a second added: “Dang wasn’t expecting that much in the red.”

The veteran boxer’s team have denied any wrongdoing

Mike Tyson is facing a pricey lawsuit from a Cyprus-based gambling company.

Apparently, the former heavyweight champion had a promotional deal with Medier, a Cyprus-registered company that promotes online casino and betting company Rabona, but Tyson is said to have failed to hold up his end on the bargain in favor of fighting Jake Paul.

Jake Paul Vs Mike Tyson final round

In the suit, which was filed in London in October, Medier say Tyson and his company Tyrannic terminated the January agreement they’d made on the day the Netflix special was announced in March.

It was alleged that Medier breached the agreement, which lead to Tyson ending it.

The gambling company has denied any wrongdoing though, and said that its actions did not constitute a breach of the deal, USA Today reports.

Medier claim that Tyson’s actions have cost it around 1.46 million euros ($1.59 million).

“The true reason for Mr Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr Tyson had agreed a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” the company’s lawyer said in documents made public on Friday (December 6).

It isn’t thought that Tyson and Tyrannic have yet filed a defence to the lawsuit, but Tyson’s representatives have released a statement to The New York Post.

“It is the company’s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways,” it said.

“As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional reputational harm to the Tyson brand.”

UNILAD have also approached Tyson’s reps for comment.

Tyson and Jake Paul went head-to-head on November 16, with the YouTuber-turned-boxer proving victorious against the boxing legend.

The eight-round fight, which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas and was streamed on Netflix, was scored 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of Paul.

Despite the defeat, Tyson, 58, said he’s not opposed to returning to the ring.

Speaking to Netflix after the bout, Tyson left the window open for future fights.
