Elliot Page reveals heartbreaking advice he would give to his younger self

The Umbrella Academy actor has been hailed a ‘role model’ for his comments

Elliot Page is moving people to tears with the advice he’d want to give to his younger self.

Page, formerly known as Ellen Page, revealed in 2020 that he was transgender and shortly after began his transition journey.

He’s since released a memoir titled ‘Pageboy’ where he spoke of the ‘shame’ he once felt about his identity.

“Shame had been drilled into my bones since I was my tiniest self, and I struggled to rid my body of that old toxic and erosive marrow,” Page wrote.

Elsewhere in the book, the actor recalled the first time he kissed a girl.

He said: “I met Paula when I was twenty. Sitting on our friend’s couch, eating raw almonds with her knees to her chest, she introduced herself, ‘I’m Paula.’ The sound of her voice radiated warmth, a kindness.

“It wasn’t so much that her eyes lit up but that they found you. I could feel her looking. We went to Reflections. It was the first time I had been to a gay bar, and would be my last for a long time.”

In light of all he’s been through over the years, Page was recently asked what advice he would give to his younger self – and his reply has left people in tears.

In a video shared to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Instagram page, Page said: “My message to my younger self would be, just like, ‘You know who you are, and please embrace that’.”

“I understood my truth,” the actor continued. “I felt it very strongly and it was all of these external forces and noises that pushed and pulled, and made me sort of lose track of who I was.

“I guess to my younger self I’d say that the discomfort and pain you’re feeling – that is not yours. That is theirs. And to just keep going on the journey of embracing who you truly are.

“That what’s going to lead you to happiness,” Page concluded the poignant message.

The Umbrella Academy star has since been praised for what he said.

Someone wrote: “What a peaceful, loving response. Such a king and role model.”

“Such wonderful intelligent words,” added a second.

Another person said: “Thank you for living in your truth and liberating yourself. You know who you are more than anyone else in this world. Thank you for sharing your story it could save a life.”

When my wealthy neighbor deemed my cherished old sedan an “eyesore,” he took matters into his own hands and froze my car solid overnight. But that same night, karma taught him a harsh lesson.

I never thought I’d end up in a neighborhood where every driveway sports at least one shiny German import and landscapers show up like clockwork every Thursday morning.

But here I was, thanks to my company’s corporate housing program, feeling like the poster child for imposter syndrome with my dad’s beat-up 1989 sedan.

That car was everything to me. Every ding and scratch told a story, like the small dent in the rear bumper from when Dad taught me to parallel park, or the tiny crack in the dashboard where he used to tap his fingers along to Johnny Cash.

After Dad passed, keeping that car running became my way of keeping his memory alive.

I was out there one crisp fall morning, giving the old girl her weekly wash, when I heard the crunch of expensive shoes on fallen leaves.

“Excuse me, miss” The voice dripped with the kind of entitled condescension you can only perfect through years of country club memberships.

I turned around, soap suds dripping from my hands, to find my neighbor Tom, looking like he’d just stepped out of a catalog for overpriced golf wear. His perfectly styled hair didn’t move an inch in the morning breeze.

“You can call me Lila.” I kept scrubbing at a particularly stubborn bird dropping.

“Right.” His jaw tightened slightly. “Look, I need to talk to you about this…” He gestured at my car with obvious distaste, his signet ring catching the morning light. “This vehicle situation.”

I straightened up, crossing my arms. “Vehicle situation?”

“It’s an eyesore.” He didn’t even try to soften the blow.

“People move to this neighborhood for a certain… aesthetic and quality of life. And your car, well, it’s destroying property values. Not to mention the environmental impact — do you have any idea what kind of pollutants that ancient engine is spewing? My children play outside!”

I couldn’t help but laugh. The sound echoed off the perfectly maintained facades of our matching houses.

“Your kids play outside? Since when? The only time I see them is when they’re being shuttled between your house and your massive SUV. Which, by the way, probably burns more fuel in a week than my car does in a month.”

His face reddened, the color creeping up from his starched collar. “That’s not the point. The point is that you need to get rid of this junk heap. It doesn’t belong here, and frankly—” he lowered his voice conspiratorially, “—neither do you.”

“Oh, really?” I cocked my head, feeling my father’s stubborn streak rising in me. The same stubbornness that had helped him build his auto repair shop from nothing. “Are you offering to buy me a new car?”

“Of course not, but if you don’t get rid of it within a week,” he said, jaw clenched, “I’ll make sure you have to replace it. This isn’t the kind of neighborhood where we tolerate… diminishing standards.”

I waved my soapy sponge at him, sending a spray of bubbles his way. He jumped back like I’d thrown acid. “Was that a threat, Tom? Because it sounded an awful lot like a threat.”

He turned on his heel and stalked away, leaving me wondering what kind of person actually talks like that in real life.

I finished washing my old car and went inside. I didn’t think much about the conversation until a week later when I found out exactly what kind of person Tom was.

The morning air bit at my face as I stepped outside, travel mug of coffee in hand, ready for work. The sunrise was painting the sky in shades of pink and gold, but I stopped dead in my tracks, nearly dropping my coffee.

My car was completely encased in ice; thick, clear ice that looked nothing like natural frost.

It was as if someone had spent hours spraying it with a hose in the freezing night air.

The morning light refracted through the frozen shell, creating tiny rainbows that would have been beautiful if they weren’t so infuriating.

“Careful,” came Tom’s voice from his porch next door. He was lounging in an Adirondack chair, sipping his morning coffee with a smile that made me want to throw something. His breath made little clouds in the cold air. “Looks like it’s raining every night! Hope you’ve got a good scraper.”

I stormed over to his porch, my boots leaving angry prints on his perfect lawn. “Are you serious right now? This is how you handle things? What are you, twelve?”

“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” His smug smile never wavered. “Mother Nature can be so unpredictable. Especially in this neighborhood.”

“Mother Nature doesn’t target single cars, Tom.” My hands were shaking with anger. “This is harassment. And pretty childish harassment at that.”

“Prove it.” He took another sip of coffee, the steam curling around his face like a villain’s smokescreen. “Or better yet, take the hint and get rid of that heap, or move. I’m sure there’s a nice apartment complex somewhere that would be more… suitable for your situation.”

I spent the next three hours chipping away at the ice, my hands going numb despite my gloves. The whole time, I plotted elaborate revenge scenarios, each more ridiculous than the last.

But Dad’s voice echoed in my memory: “The best revenge is living well, kiddo. And keeping your hands clean means you never have to look over your shoulder.”

That night, a strange whooshing sound jolted me awake. At first, I thought it was just the wind, but there was something different about it, something almost musical… like water.

I rushed to my window, half-expecting to catch Tom creating another ice sculpture out of my car. Instead, I burst out laughing.

A fire hydrant at the edge of Tom’s property had exploded, sending a powerful jet of water directly at his house. In the freezing night air, the water was turning to ice on contact, slowly encasing his perfect home and his precious German SUV in a thick crystal shell.

The streetlights caught each frozen droplet, turning his property into a bizarre winter wonderland.

By morning, half the neighborhood had gathered to gawk at the spectacle. Some were taking photos with their phones, others whispering behind their hands.

Tom stood in his driveway, attacking the ice with a tiny garden shovel, looking absolutely miserable in his designer winter coat. His perfectly styled hair was finally out of place, plastered to his forehead with sweat despite the cold.

I watched him struggle for a few minutes before sighing heavily. Dad would’ve known what to do.

He always said that kindness costs nothing but means everything. I grabbed my heavy-duty ice scraper and walked over.

“Want some help?” I asked, trying not to sound too amused. “I’ve got some experience with this sort of thing.”

Tom looked up, surprised and suspicious. His face was red from exertion, his breath coming in short puffs. “Why would you help me? After everything?”

I shrugged and started scraping. “Guess I’m just a better neighbor than you.”

We worked in silence for hours, gradually freeing his car and clearing a path to his front door. By the time we finished, the sun was setting, and we were both exhausted.

The next morning, there was a knock at my door. Tom stood there, shifting his weight from foot to foot, making his expensive shoes creak.

“I owe you an apology,” he said. “I was a jerk. You didn’t have to help me yesterday, but you did.” He thrust an envelope at me. “This is to thank you… and to make amends.”

Inside was $5,000 in hundred-dollar bills. I stared at it, then at him, the paper crisp between my fingers.

“It’s for your car,” he explained quickly. “Get it fixed up — or get a new one if you’d prefer. Consider it a peace offering. And… I’m sorry about what I said. About you not belonging here.”

I looked at the money, then at my dad’s old sedan sitting in the driveway.

“Thanks, Tom,” I said, tucking the envelope into my pocket. “I think I know exactly what I’m going to do with this.”

A week later, my old sedan was sporting a fresh coat of paint, new tires, and a completely rebuilt engine. It stood out even more now as a perfectly restored classic in a sea of modern luxury vehicles.

Every time I caught Tom looking at it, I made sure to rev the engine extra loud. Sometimes he’d even give me a grudging nod of appreciation.

Sometimes the best revenge isn’t revenge at all.

Gal Gadot diagnosed with 'terrifying' blood clot in her brain during fourth pregnancy

The Snow White actress has explained why it is ‘vital’ we ‘listen to our bodies’ after her health scare

Gal Gadot has opened up about how her youngest daughter was born during emergency surgery after the actress was diagnosed with a ‘massive’ blood clot in her brain.

39-year-old Gadot, whose acting credits range from the Fast and Furious franchise to Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile, said she endured ‘excruciating headaches’ during her fourth pregnancy, resulting in a ‘terrifying’ diagnosis.

In an Instagram post, the Wonder Woman star revealed she’d experienced a year of ‘profound challenges and deep reflections’, admitting she was hesitant whether to share details of her health ordeal with her fans.

“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot typed to her 108 million followers.

“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth.

“In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”

Gadot explained that her daughter was delivered during emergency surgery and that she and her husband Jaron Varsano, 49, had decided to name her Ori.

“Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

After thanking the medical staff of the Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Hospital, the celeb claimed that she’d learned ‘so much’ during the ordeal.

“First, it’s vital to listen to our bodies and trust what it’s telling us. Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often carry deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life-saving.

“Second, awareness matters. I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT(develop a blood clot in the brain).”

Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (SVST) is a blood clot of a cerebral vein in the brain, reports Healthline.

This pressure can cause intense headaches like the ones Gadot experienced and even damage brain tissue in severe circumstances.

Symptoms also include blurred vision, nausea and vomiting.

Those with more intense cases may experience stroke-like symptoms, such as weakness, one-sided body numbness, and decreased alertness.

Other severe symptoms include fainting, seizures, and limited mobility in parts of your body.

If caught early, it can be treated without life-threatening complications.

In the comments section, Gadot continued to call her youngest child a ‘miracle’ and a ‘constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within’.

“My wish is that we all find our light, experience our own miracles, and continue to advocate for our health and for one another,” she added, wishing the Jewish community a happy Hanukkah.

Jocelyn also learned how to swim and ski when she was aged around four or five. She explained, “We were on the lake, so in the summer I would swim, and in the winter we had the mountain very close where we could go to ski. It was a very nice life, good quality.”

The socialite’s life began changing when she went to college. She would hang out with her friends in Lausanne, Switzerland drinking coffee, tea, or juice but not alcohol. By the time she reached her twenties in 1967, she had relocated to Paris.

During this time, she was in a relationship with Sergio Gobbi, a European filmmaker, whom she had been dating for five years. After Paris, the socialite embarked on a decade-long adventure exploring Africa.

Entranced by the images of its landscapes and wildlife, she made a vow to visit one day. True to her word, she embarked on the journey, fulfilling her childhood dream.

During these moments, Jocelyn wasn’t famous yet. She later became renowned for her extravagant marriage and subsequent divorce from billionaire art collector Alec Wildenstein. Her lavish lifestyle also captured public attention in 1998 when news of the pair’s divorce emerged.

At the time, Jocelyn disclosed spending over $700,000 annually on luxuries like food, wine, flowers, and medications. Following the divorce, she reportedly received one of the largest settlements in history, rumored to exceed $2.5 billion.

After her divorce, Jocelyn opened up about how she fell in love with Alec at 31, while in Kenya. The art collector had gone to inspect his family’s 66,000-acre ranch and Jocelyn, who was on safari with friends accompanied him to kill a lion at a neighbor’s ranch.

On their first day together, the pair rode their motorcycles to a hilltop and had their first kiss, which Jocelyn described as “quite intense.” The duo went on to get married in 1978 and had two kids, Diane and Alec Wildenstein Jr.

After parting ways in 1999, Alec alleged that aside from good health and a love for Africa, he and Jocelyn had nothing in common. So after the kids moved away to college their fights became constant and Jocelyn was hysterical, shocking the servants with her language and behavior.

According to Alec, they had been married for a year when she told him that his eyes looked baggy. Together, they got eye-lifts and this marked the start of the socialite’s consistent use of plastic surgery.

Jocelyn would go behind Alec’s back to get her body worked on “She was crazy. I would always find out last. She was thinking that she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. Skin does not work that way. But she wouldn’t listen,” lamented Alec.

A friend of the socialite also accused her of harming her body with plastic surgery because the pal couldn’t recall a time when Jocelyn wasn’t healing from something. Before long, her face became so taut that she struggled to blink.

Friends also suspected Jocelyn altered her eyes to look like a jungle cat. The socialite dismissed these comments, noting that her eyes were natural. “If I show you pictures of my grandmother, what you see is these eyes, cat eyes, and high cheekbones,” revealed Jocelyn.

Jocelyn, who had also accused Alec of pushing her to do face lifts, asserting that he hated to be with old people, changed this statement, saying that her ex-husband always told her that she looked very young. The socialite was just worried that one day she wouldn’t look young enough.

Still, the socialite asserted that Alec, who passed away in 2008, embellished the extent of her surgical procedures. Instead, she attributed her distinctive high cheekbones to her Swiss heritage.

The socialite argued that her pictures from when she was 17 and 18 show that she always had cat eyes. Jocelyn said that despite Alec knowing this, he had chosen the story that she overindulged in plastic surgery because it stuck to her like glue.

“But the friends I had in Africa, or some friends I’ve had since we were 17, 20, 23 years old, they know me,” Jocelyn defended herself. She added, “I have nothing to prove, In the end, I don’t care.”

In August 2024, Jocelyn took to Instagram to share a throwback of herself and Diane, in honor of her daughter’s birthday, and gave the public another glimpse at how she looked before cosmetic enhancements.

“Wow, she was really a beautiful woman,” one person commented. “More natural, is more beautiful,” another person shared. A third typed, “Love the ’90s lokk!!!!”

Jocelyn Wildenstein’s Money Problems

Aside from her journey with plastic surgery, Jocelyn, who was once a billionaire, also made headlines when her fortune dwindled. In May 2018, the socialite sought federal Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Her filing revealed a stark financial reality, including a zero balance in her Citibank account and a reliance on $900 monthly Social Security payments.

However, looming debts, totaling millions, painted a less rosy picture. Jocelyn owed over $300,000 to various legal entities, with her apartment facing foreclosure due to a $4.6 million debt.

Allegedly, the trust’s assets, including a Diego Velázquez painting later deemed a forgery and an undervalued Cézanne artwork, failed to provide the expected financial security. She revealed plans to pursue legal action against her trust, with the hope to reclaim what she believed was rightfully hers.

However, her former attorney, Douglas Pick, expressed confusion over why no lawsuit was initiated regarding the disputed artwork. Additionally, the socialite had moved on with another man, causing her to face troubles beyond financial matters. She and her fiancé, Lloyd Klein, faced assault charges related to alleged altercations between them.

After these misfortunes, Jocelyn led a low-key life but in 2023, she chose to participate in a two-part docuseries with HBO. She gave interviews before its release, revealing how she was now spending her life.
Jocelyn is also focused on Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy, the Wildenstein family ranch in Kenya, which provides sanctuary to 2,000 animals, safeguarding them under protection. While boasting an array of wildlife, notably absent are lions, deemed a threat to the very creatures the ranch seeks to preserve.

In Africa, Jocelyn initiated a school tailored for youths aged approximately 15 or 16, akin to an apprenticeship, aiming to instill confidence, provide employment opportunities, and pave the way for their future.

Now, Jocelyn is 83. She has lived an adventurous life in Switzerland, France, and Africa and has done lots of traveling in other regions. Having a rocky marriage and tumultuous divorce did not stop her from finding love again.

The socialite also no longer cares what people say about her appearance, having decided that she has nothing to prove to anyone. She is living life on the low, satisfied with her choices, and calls herself a global icon for all she has done, has been through, and is still standing strong.

Experts reveal the 'safest place' to sit on a plane if you're a nervous flyer

The ‘safest place’ to sit on a plane has been revealed

A team of aviation experts have revealed the ‘safest place’ to sit on a plane in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.

Those who are nervous flyers will know all about the dreaded turbulence and the inevitable anxiety that comes with such an event.

There is a general consensus among travellers that turbulence is felt a lot more at the rear of an aircraft, so you’d think that would make the area of the plane less safe compared to others.

But as per the Daily Star, studies have shown that the rear of an aircraft is actually the safest place on a plane if things were to go wrong.

Time magazine looked into 35 years of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) data back in 2015, with a fatality rate of 32 percent from plane crashes of those in the back third of a cabin.

Those in the front third had a fatality rate of 38 percent, while aisle seats in the middle of a plan saw a staggering increase to a 44 percent fatality rate.

However, experts have warned these figures are very much down to circumstance, with there having previously been occasions where passengers sitting near the front of an aircraft have survived.

Back in 2012, a team of scientists crashed an aircraft in the Mexican desert to determine what seat would be best to be sat in should a commercial plane crash.

There were no real people on this aircraft, with it instead being filled full of crash test dummies, cameras, and measuring instruments.

It was a crew of six that took the plane into the skies, before it was transferred to a remote control operator who was in another plane flying behind the Boeing.

Those manning the plane parachuted to safety just three minutes before the crash, which is cutting it fine if you ask me. The mammoth crash saw the plane’s landing gear and the aircraft itself split into several pieces. The experiment ultimately revealed what seat was the safest.

Seat 7A was flung over 150 metres away from the crash, which would have almost certainly killed the person sitting in it.

Experts ultimately concluded the best places to be in the event of a crash were by the wings. Near the back of the plane is also a good spot, as that’s where the aircraft’s body is strongest.

To much surprise, scientists worked out passengers at the back of a plane could have got up from the wreckage and walked away from the site without any serious injuries.

Christmas Eve always carried a weight I could never shake. As I slid into the back seat of the taxi, the world around me blurred into sleep, and I let it. When I awoke, it wasn’t to the sight of home, but to a cold, abandoned room.

The sterile white lights of the hospital hallway buzzed above me, a constant reminder of my exhaustion from back-to-back night shifts. Christmas Eve in the ER was no different from any other day—chaotic, loud, and unforgiving.

But tonight, there was a promise of something waiting at home: Jeremy, my boyfriend of four years, a man who could light up the darkest room with his smile.

“Hey, you done?” He had called just before my shift ended, excitement brimming in his voice. “I got the tree lit, cider on the stove, and even put on that ridiculous sweater you hate. You’re gonna love it.”

I forced a laugh, the kind that came naturally when he talked about Christmas. Jeremy adored the holiday. It was in his DNA, something passed down through generations of festive gatherings with his family.

I wanted to love it too. But Christmas to me was an empty chair at a table I never got to sit at. It was just a reminder of the hollow space where my parents should have been. Growing up in an orphanage, I’d learned only bits and pieces about my parents: my mother had died when I was young, and I didn’t know much about my dad.

So for me, Christmas wasn’t a celebration; it was an ache, a reminder of everything I’d lost before I could even understand what it meant.

I shook off the thought and stepped outside, shivering as the winter air hit me. Just then, a yellow cab pulled up to the curb. The driver leaned over, gave a small nod, and smiled as if he knew me. “Megan?”

“Yeah, that’s me.” I opened the back door and slid in, the leather seats cool beneath me. The exhaustion that had settled in my bones for the past 48 hours took over, and before I knew it, I was asleep.

It was the sudden silence that woke me. I blinked, expecting to see the familiar blur of streetlights through rain-slicked windows.

Instead, darkness surrounded me, oppressive and still. My breath quickened, and I realized the driver was gone. The taxi, too, was eerily still, parked in what looked like an abandoned garage.

“Hello?” My voice came out weak, swallowed by the shadows.

I reached for my phone, but my fingers met an empty pocket. Panic shot up my spine as I heard it—a faint creak that cut through the silence. A thin line of light stretched across the floor as the door slowly opened, and in its glow, I saw a silhouette.

My pulse thundered in my ears as I strained to make sense of where I was. The cab, once a safe, familiar space, now felt like a cage.

“Hello?” I called again, louder this time, but the silence pressed back, heavier than before. The beam of light grew, inch by inch until it fell on the face of a stranger.

“Who are you?” I demanded, my voice cracking.

The man didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he stepped forward, the door creaking wider behind him. As he moved into the dim light, I could see the sharp angles of his face. His coat was thick and dark, the kind worn to keep out a bitter chill.

“Megan Price, right?” His voice was low, and practiced, like he knew he needed to keep it steady to control the situation.

“Why do you know my name?” I shifted in the back seat, my fingers brushing the door handle.

He exhaled, almost impatiently, and glanced at the cab, then back at me. “You’re not in any danger. I need you to come with me. There’s something you need to know.”

I laughed sarcastically. “Is that what people say when they’re about to kidnap someone? Because it’s not very reassuring.”

“To be honest,” he said, voice thick with something that made my chest constrict, “I was against the fact that we scared you so much. Your boyfriend made it all up.” His smile was a shaky mask, an attempt to soften the bombshell he was about to drop.

My mind stumbled over the words, trying to piece together the implications. Jeremy? My confusion surged into anger, hot and immediate. “What do you mean, my boyfriend made it up? Who are you?” My voice cracked as the last word tumbled out, raw and desperate.

The man’s eyes glistened with unshed tears, and he took a step closer. “I know this is… overwhelming,” he said, his voice wavering, “but I had no choice. We had no choice.”

A painful silence hung between us. My breath came in short, every exhale shaking with disbelief. The man’s expression crumbled, and he looked down as if ashamed. When he spoke again, his voice was barely above a whisper.

“But I am… your father, daughter.” His eyes met mine, and this time, a tear escaped, tracing a line down the deep creases of his face. He swallowed hard and covered his mouth as if it could stop the wave of emotion threatening to break.

“No,” I breathed, the word almost inaudible. My legs weakened as I tried to piece everything together.

The man—my father—stood before me, shoulders slumped under the weight of emotion, but I stayed frozen in place. The word father felt sharp and unfamiliar like I’d stumbled across a shard of glass in my path.

For years, I’d pictured my parents in distant, shadowy forms, and now here was a real, flesh-and-blood person claiming he was part of me. My body ached to trust him, to accept this lost piece, but my mind held me back.

Jeremy must’ve sensed my hesitation. He stepped up, holding a crumpled envelope. “Megan, I know it’s hard to believe. But here—this is the proof. It’s a DNA test. I wanted to be sure before… well, before I put you through this.”

I looked down at the envelope, my heart pounding. “How… how did you even do this? How did you find him?”

Jeremy let out a sigh, glancing at the man and then back to me. “I know you never thought about searching, but… I did. Two years ago, I decided to look into your family, quietly, just in case it would mean something to you one day.”

He pulled me closer, his voice tender but firm. “I knew how much not having your family haunted you, especially at Christmas. So I started hiring people—private detectives, researchers. I went down every lead until we finally found a trail.”

The man—my supposed father—shifted his weight, rubbing his eyes as though he couldn’t quite believe it either.

“It wasn’t easy,” Jeremy continued, his voice lowering. “I found out that… well, after your mother got pregnant, she never told him. He had no idea you existed.”

I felt the sting of that, the realization that my mother—a woman I’d only known through childhood fantasies—had chosen to leave me at an orphanage and walk away. She’d vanished into the background of my life without ever telling this man… my father… what she’d done.

“She died several years ago,” Jeremy went on gently. “But I tracked down her sister. She lives in Eastern Europe, and after some long talks, she told me there was one person who could be your father. So, I reached out.”

I looked back at the man, a wave of guarded resentment and longing roiling inside me. “And he just… accepted it? Just like that?”

Jeremy nodded slowly, searching my face. “He was shocked, of course. It was only once I told him about you that he agreed to come, but I wanted to be certain. I wanted proof. So, one night I… I took a few strands of hair from your brush.”

My stomach twisted at the thought of it, the quiet lengths Jeremy had gone to, the hours, the money, all without me knowing. The man across from me—my father—clenched his jaw, his own hand trembling slightly. His eyes were locked on mine, an expression of cautious hope and deep pain in their depths.

“I did’n’t know about you, Megan,” he said, his voice thick, fighting back tears. “I didn’t know you existed until recently, and I… I didn’t believe it at first. But seeing you…” His voice faltered, and he glanced away, struggling to regain his composure.

The weight of his words settled heavily over me, and I took a shaky breath, my heart both heavy and fractured. “You were never there,” I murmured, a trace of bitterness slipping out. “I grew up without you. Without any of you.”

He took a step closer, then stopped, respecting the distance I maintained between us. “I don’t know if I can ever make up for that, Megan,” he said, voice raw. “I don’t even know if you’ll ever be able to forgive me. But if you let me… I’d like to be here now.”

Silence hung between us, thick with the years lost and the strange, uncertain possibility of the years ahead. The truth, the aching reality of what I’d been told, lay there, its edges sharp and unfamiliar. I didn’t know if I could open myself to him, didn’t know if I even wanted to.

But Jeremy’s hand tightened around mine, grounding me, reminding me that maybe… just maybe… I didn’t have to go through it all alone.

Taking a tentative step forward, I met the man’s gaze, that mix of hope and regret in his eyes. My voice shook as I finally spoke, letting my guard down just enough to let him hear a crack in the wall I’d built.

“I don’t know if I can call you Dad yet,” I whispered. “But… I think I’d like to know you.”

His face softened, and for a moment, the years that separated us fell away. A tear slipped down his cheek as he managed a small, hopeful smile.

“That’s all I could ask for, Megan. Thank you,” he said, his voice trembling with gratitude.

And as the lights from the upstairs Christmas tree spilled down the stairs, I allowed myself to take a step toward something I’d never thought I’d have—a father, and maybe, just maybe, a new family.

Will Ferrell explains why he dressed up as Buddy the Elf to watch hockey game

Will Ferrell starred as Buddy the Elf in 2003

Everyone’s favorite elf is back, but not as you’d probably expect.

Buddy the Elf is one of the most iconic Christmas characters out there, mostly due to how brilliantly Will Ferrell played the role in the 2003 festive flick.

While it has been over 20 years since the Hollywood actor portrayed Buddy, Ferrell decided to wear the iconic suit to a hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday (December 29).

Buddy the Elf seems as though he’s had a rough Christmas however, with Ferrell papped watching the game with a cigarette in hand.

The actor, who often attends the hockey to support his team Los Angeles Kings, caught the attention of many in attendance as he’s never watched the sport before in his Buddy the Elf costume.

FanDuel Sports Network broadcaster Carrlyn Bathe spoke to Ferrell during proceedings, with the 57-year-old telling the reporter ‘it was a tough holiday season’ and ‘he’s looking for a Kings win’.

It’s certainly not gone well for Buddy in Santa’s worship this year then.

Ferrell’s high energy performance as Buddy carried the film in many people’s beliefs, though paired with his co-star James Caan, who played Buddy’s dad, a perfect combo was reached.

Earlier this year, Ferrell revealed that Caan, who passed away in 2022, didn’t find him very funny.

Ferrell claimed that Caan had told him he didn’t ‘get’ the actor during an appearance on the MeSsy podcast with Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

“James Caan – may he rest in peace, and we had such a good time working on that movie – he would tease me,” Ferrell said.

“We’d be in between setups, he was like, ‘I don’t get you. You’re not funny. “You’re not funny.’ And I’m like, ‘I know! I’m not Robin Williams.’

“He’s like, ‘People ask me, ‘Is he funny?’ And I’m like, ‘No, he’s not funny!’ It was all with love.”

And that certainly impacted what we saw on screen as viewers.

The Megamind actor continued: “I love that the whole time, he’s not acting. He’s truly annoyed with me.

“Like, ‘Will this guy shut the f**k up? Jesus!’ So I literally drove him crazy in that movie, just acting like that kid.”

Once filming on Elf had concluded prior to its release in 2003, Caan changed his mind about Ferrell’s performance.

Ferrell recalled: “He’s like, ‘I gotta tell you, I thought everything you were doing while we were filming was way too over-the-top.”

Newborn Baby Cries All Day No Matter What Parents Do, after a While They Check His Crib – Story of the Day

Walter returns home from work to find his baby son crying. His wife has tried everything to quiet their son, but nothing works. Walter decides to check the crib and is shocked by what he finds there.

An ear-splitting wail echoed through the house as Walter entered from the garage. His wife, Abby, sat in the kitchen, and by the distressed look on her face, he knew Logan’s cries were bothering her again.

“Oh, honey,” he says and hugs her from behind. “How long has he been crying like that?”

“I’ve tried everything, Walter!” Abby broke down into sobs. “He’s been fed, changed, bathed, and burped! I even took his temperature! I don’t know what to do now. He keeps crying!”

After becoming parents a month ago, everything in the couple’s lives changed. And if there was something that really distressed Walter, it was Logan’s cries.

“Come, we’ll figure this out together,” Walter said and took Abby to Logan’s room.

He cheerfully approached Logan’s crib. But all he saw in the crib was a dictaphone and a note. Walter pressed the stop button on the dictaphone, and Logan’s cries stopped.

“What did you do?” Abby called from behind. Walter wasn’t listening. He held the note and zoned out. It wasn’t until Abby snatched the note from his hand and opened it that he realized what had occurred.

“I warned you that you’d regret being rude to me.

If you want to see your baby again, leave $200,000 in the luggage storage lockers near the pier.

If you go to the police, you’ll never see him again.”

“Oh my God!” Abby gasped. “What does it mean? Was I rude to someone? Were you? Who would kidnap Logan?”

Walter recalled the janitor he’d mistreated at the maternity hospital. He was bringing a cute bear-shaped pot for Abby while she was admitted to the hospital, but the pot broke when he tripped over the janitor’s broom.

Furious, Walter called the man awful names, and the janitor said, “You’ll regret it!”

“We’ll have to go to the police, honey,” Walter said, snapping out of his thoughts. “It must be him!”

“What? The note says we’ll never see Logan again if we go to the police, Walter. We should just pay the ransom!”

“We don’t know if he’ll return Logan if we do that. Think about it, honey. This guy is a janitor… there’s no way he’d know if we went to the police, and since we know where he works, they might be able to go straight to the maternity hospital, arrest him, and bring Logan home to us.”

Abby agreed.

Walter parked their car outside the station. He and Abby were about to exit the vehicle when Walter’s phone buzzed with a message.

“This is your first and last warning. If you enter that police station, your kid’s going into the bay. Get the money to the location mentioned below.”

Abby gasped as she read the message, and Walter looked around, trying to spot the kidnapper. But there were too many people. The only way to rescue Logan now was to pay the ransom.

Walter decided to drive to the bank right away, but Abby’s condition deteriorated. She threw up once and was about to throw up for a second time. It was better to drive her home, Walter decided.

“Don’t hate me for it, honey, but that’s the best for you,” he said. And Abby didn’t protest.

“Fine…But Walter…does that kidnapper even know about caring for a newborn?” she asked and broke down into tears.

Walter said nothing and drove her home. But his imagination wasn’t immune to dark thoughts. He kept imagining Logan in a dark room, crying for help that never came.

Somehow pulling himself together, Walter drove to the bank. Then he visited the storage locker mentioned by the kidnapper and placed the money inside it.

There were too many people around for him to spot the janitor, but Walter knew he would be somewhere nearby, watching him. So Walter returned to his car, drove a short distance, and parked around the lockers again. It wasn’t long before he spotted the janitor from the maternity hospital.

The janitor opened the locker. Walter sat up straighter, but then a tourist group walked past, hiding the janitor from view.

“Move it!” Walter snapped.

Painful minutes stretched out as the tourists headed toward one of the statues. After the last few people in the group eventually passed the lockers, Walter swore. The janitor had disappeared.

Walter barely dared to breathe as he scanned the crowd. The man had been wearing the sort of flashy shirt sold in the more eclectic, hippie-themed stores, so he shouldn’t have been hard to spot.

There! A wave of relief washed over him as Walter spotted the janitor crossing the road. He was carrying the bag of money Walter had placed in the locker. Walter leaped from his car and followed him.

The man led him around a parking lot, past a variety of restaurants and several museums before he turned into a bus station. They were heading toward another row of lockers.

The janitor placed the bag inside a locker. When he turned around, Walter was ready. He shoved the janitor up against the lockers and held him there with his forearm.

“Where is my son?” Walter demanded. “I’ve done everything you asked, you jerk; now return Logan to me!”

“Look, I was offered $100 to collect the package and then drop it off here,” the man said. “I don’t know about your son!”

“Don’t you dare lie!”

“I’m not! Some guy paid me to deliver the package! I ran into him in the parking lot after work one day, but he was standing with the light behind him, so I didn’t see his face. I have two kids of my own. I’d never hurt someone else’s child.”

Something about the janitor’s eyes told Walter the older man wasn’t lying. He let the man go, then opened the locker. But it was empty. Somebody had cut a hole in the back.

Walter jogged around to the back of the lockers. The hole was covered from the back with a thin steel plate, loosely secured by two screws. Nobody around was carrying a bag like the one he’d placed the money into.

Walter didn’t know how to break the news to Abby. Logan was their miracle baby. They’d been struggling for years before they conceived him. And now, he had lost his only chance to get Logan back.

Walter entered his home. He checked all the rooms downstairs but didn’t find Abby anywhere. He went upstairs to check their bedroom and noticed Abby’s things were gone.

At first, Walter suspected she was kidnapped. He called her. Countless times. But she never answered. Then it dawned on him that the kidnapper wouldn’t have taken all of Abby’s things. Even her hand lotion was missing.

Walter was crushed, to say the least. How could Abby do this to them? No wonder she’d been so eager to return home after feeling sick. She had also insisted they pay the ransom. Abby was Logan’s kidnapper. Did she have an accomplice?

The only thing that consoled Walter’s heart was that the ransom money was fake. He would find a way to get his son back.

Walter drove to the maternity hospital where Logan was born, and near the vending machine, he found the man he was looking for—a doctor.

“Hi,” Walter approached him. “I hope you can help me. I need someone to call my wife—”

“I’m not a phone service,” the doctor replied sharply.

“You don’t understand. I’m willing to pay you handsomely for your assistance, doctor, and your silence.”

The doctor studied Walter through narrowed eyes. He slowly smiled as Walter explained his situation and told him what he wanted the doctor to tell Abby.

Walter then retrieved his wallet and furtively showed the doctor the dollar bills inside it. The man nodded. “Okay, we have a deal. Come with me!”

Walter followed the doctor to a nurse’s station on the second floor. All the nurses were checking on their patients, judging by the activity in the hallways. Nobody took much notice as the doctor lifted the phone and dialed Abby’s number.

“Good morning, Mrs. Taylor; this is Dr. Jones from the maternity hospital. I’m calling to inform you that we just discovered something very serious in one of the routine tests we performed on your son after he was born. He needs to come in for treatment immediately.”

Walter heard Abby’s emotional outcry from the other side of the nurse’s station but couldn’t make out her exact words.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t discuss the details over the phone. All I can say for now is that he has a rare genetic condition. I’m sure he does seem fine now, but that could change at any moment. He’s at a higher risk for SIDS and several other life-threatening conditions. You really need to bring him in today, Mrs. Taylor.”

Dr. Jones ended the call a few minutes later and showed Walter a thumbs-up.

“She’s going to bring the baby in ASAP.” Dr. Jones held out his hand and wriggled his fingers. “I did my bit. Now it’s time for you to pay up.”

Walter paid the doctor and went back downstairs. He wandered around for a few minutes before his phone started ringing. His lip curled in disgust when he checked the caller ID.

“You have some nerve to phone me after what you did, Abby,” Walter said. “Where’s Logan? I demand you bring him back.”

“Says the man who doesn’t even care enough about him to pay the ransom!” Abby shrieked. “That money was all fake, you tight-fisted jerk. Logan needs to see a doctor urgently, and I can’t take him because of you. Where’s the real money, Walter?”

“In my account, where it’s been all along. What’s wrong with Logan, or is this just another scheme to get my money?”

Abby swore at him and began to cry. “I told you; he’s sick! You’ve got to send me the money so he can receive treatment. He’ll die without it.”

“I won’t let my son die! I’ll pay,” Walter replied and hung up.

Hearing Abby confirm she was behind Logan’s kidnapping broke his heart all over again. It took a few minutes before he pulled himself together enough to send her an immediate payment via his money transfer app. Now, all he had to do was wait.

***

It seemed like everything was moving in slow motion as the police officers and FBI agents came forward and surrounded Abby and James. Walter had informed the cops beforehand.

“You’re under arrest for kidnapping!” an FBI agent called out. “Hand the child over, nice and slowly, and raise your hands.”

“Get away from us!” Abby shrieked as she moved to stand between the FBI agent and Logan. “My son is sick. He needs to see a doctor.”

“No, he isn’t,” Walter called out as he approached the group. “There’s nothing wrong with Logan at all.”

Abby’s gaze locked onto him. Walter watched as the fear and uncertainty in her eyes shifted into red-hot fury. She rushed forward as though to attack him. But the police tackled her. She and James were arrested.

Walter hugged his son, relieved to have him back. But Abby wasn’t done yet.

“You think you’ve won? Logan isn’t even yours! You couldn’t get me pregnant, remember? But whatever’s wrong with you clearly doesn’t run in the family!” she yelled.

Walter froze. He looked at his brother, who wouldn’t even raise his head to look at him. It pained Walter. But nothing mattered because he had Logan with him.

“I will adopt him if that’s what I have to do!” he shot back. “I will watch him grow up while you two rot behind bars!” he said and left with Logan.

Lily said she felt uncomfortable due to another passenger as well

Long travel flights can be a bit of a pain, which is exactly why many people pay that extra money for more leg room and a specific seat.

However, in some situations, even when you have paid for your seat and are ready to travel, airlines might have different ideas.

An Australian woman has said she was forced to travel for hours with a toddler on her lap not long after suffering a panic attack.

Lily Winward, 19, of Ulladulla, has said she was flying back on Etihad Airways from an athletics competition in Athens when the flight stopped or a layover in the United Arab Emirates.

Lily has claimed the airline has remained quiet following her complaints (Lilyywinward/Instagram)

Lily has claimed the airline has remained quiet following her complaints (Lilyywinward/Instagram)

The airline staff told her the plane was overbooked and that she would have to be put up in a hotel.

However, Winward said she did not feel safe leaving the airport at night wearing tights and a singlet in the middle of Abu Dhabi.

She also claimed another passenger was allegedly harassing her to get into a taxi with him and this added to her uncomfortableness.

Winward said: “I was quite upset. I was crying, and I said, ‘I just want to get home; I don’t feel safe going to a hotel, especially with this guy bothering me’.”

As a result of the situation, she had a panic attack and staff assured her they could fit her on the flight, but noted that she would have to share the seat with a toddler.

Speaking to Australian media, Winward said that she endured the rest of the flight, which can take anywhere from 14 to 16 hours, with a child on her lap.

As you can imagine, she was less than impressed with this outcome and has attempted to contact the airline to complain.

She told the Herald and said: “I just think it’s not good enough, for someone who has paid $3,000 for flights, it shouldn’t happen.”

Her attempts to complain haven’t been fruitful unfortunately. She and her travel agent have reached out to Etihad, but the airline has allegedly remained quiet.

Winward also took issue with being singled out regarding being bumped from the flight as a woman traveling alone, rather than a couple or family.

The friction peaked when sources revealed the blunt and cutting words Princess Anne reportedly directed at Queen Camilla after she became queen, sparking what was described as an “emotionally charged” situation. However, time had an interesting way of mending their strained relationship.

Queen Camilla and Princess Anne’s Strained Relationship

The relationship between Queen Camilla and Princess Anne was fraught with tension for many years, shaped by past romantic entanglements and a clash of personalities.

Author Angela Levin claimed in her book “Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: From Outcast to Future Queen Consort” that the relationship between the two women took a long time to warm up.

Princess Anne, known for her no-nonsense approach, reportedly found it difficult to warm up to Queen Camilla when she first entered the royal fold. The initial friction between the two women stemmed from various factors.

This included their shared history with Princess Anne’s former love interest, Andrew Parker Bowles, who later became Queen Camilla’s first husband. In the 1970s, long before Queen Camilla’s relationship with King Charles III became public, Princess Anne was romantically linked to Parker Bowles.

Despite their strong connection, the possibility of marriage was ruled out due to his Catholic faith — a significant issue for a member of the Royal Family, given that the monarch is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

This romantic history added a layer of complexity to Princess Anne’s view of Queen Camilla when she eventually became a central figure in King Charles III’s life. Their shared past with Parker Bowles introduced an awkward dynamic that made it difficult for the two women to develop a comfortable relationship.

From the beginning, Princess Anne reportedly kept her distance, giving Queen Camilla the cold shoulder as she became more prominent in royal events. This frosty demeanor was unsettling for the Queen, who found it difficult to navigate Princess Anne’s straightforward and often aloof personality.

While many who had encountered the Princess Royal over the years recognized her serious nature, Queen Camilla struggled to break through the icy reception, leaving her uneasy in her interactions with the Princess Royal.

This tension wasn’t limited to Queen Camilla. Princess Anne was known to keep her distance from other women who entered the royal family, including Diana, Princess of Wales, and Sarah, Duchess of York.

Both Princess Diana and the Duchess of York found themselves on the receiving end of Princess Anne’s cold indifference, signaling that her approach to newcomers was often guided by caution and reservation.

Princess Anne’s Scandalous Remark and Brutal Prediction About Queen Camilla’s Future

When Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, it marked a monumental shift in the British monarchy. The crown immediately passed to King Charles III, making him the nation’s new monarch.

As his wife, Queen Camilla automatically assumed the title of Queen Consort. Their official coronation occurred on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey. Queen Camilla was crowned alongside her husband, signaling a major milestone in her journey from royal outsider to central figure within the monarchy.

However, the transition wasn’t without controversy, particularly from within the royal family. For years, reports suggested that Princess Anne had strong reservations about Queen Camilla’s future role. Allegedly, Princess Anne was deeply opposed to the idea of Queen Camilla holding the esteemed title of Queen.

She reportedly went so far as to predict that Queen Camilla would never be seen as a “true queen.” In May 2023, David Emanuel, the designer behind Princess Diana’s iconic wedding gown, revealed shocking details about a confrontation between Princess Anne and Queen Camilla.

According to Emanuel, tensions came to a head during a dinner held after the coronation. At this event, Princess Anne reportedly challenged Queen Camilla’s decision to drop “Consort” from her title and refer to herself simply as “Queen.”

Emanuel reported that Queen Camilla initially requested to be referred to as Queen Consort. However, she “suddenly” started going by Queen. Though the change was officially sanctioned, it did not sit well with some within royal circles.

Emanuel claimed that the situation was “very difficult” as “a lot of people” told him that they were unhappy with the shift. Emanuel then revealed that a fast-spreading story from various sources was that during the coronation dinner, Princess Anne allegedly made her feelings on the matter very clear.

According to Emanuel, the Princess Royal bluntly said to Queen Camilla, “You’re not Queen; you’re the Queen’s Consort,” leading to a “big showdown.” Emanuel shockingly revealed that the situation was “emotionally charged” and that there was “a lot of stuff” happening at the time.

Princess Anne and Queen Camilla’s Relationship Now

Over time, the icy relationship between Princess Anne and Queen Camilla gradually thawed, with both women finding common ground in their shared commitment to the monarchy.

While their early years were marked by tension and distance, the passage of time and shared responsibilities within the royal family played a significant role in softening Princess Anne’s stance.

According to royal experts, Princess Anne’s initial skepticism gradually turned into respect as she observed how hard the Queen worked to fulfill her royal duties. Queen Camilla’s dedication to supporting King Charles III and the monarchy eventually won over Princess Anne, leading to a more cooperative relationship.

Both Princess Anne and Queen Camilla are known for their resilience and commitment to the roles they’ve carved out within the royal family. When King Charles III and Kate, Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis became public in 2024, it led them to temporarily step back from some of their royal duties.

In their absence, Queen Camilla took on a more prominent role, demonstrating her resilience and devotion. The Queen’s willingness to shoulder additional responsibilities reflected her deep commitment to supporting her husband during this difficult time.

This was a trait Princess Anne couldn’t ignore. As Queen Camilla rose to the occasion, Princess Anne, too, stepped up in her role as one of the hardest-working members of the royal family.

Princess Anne, long celebrated for her tireless work ethic, has always been a reliable presence within the royal household. Known for her quick wit and no-nonsense approach, she has consistently proven her loyalty to the crown, even as her role within the family evolved.

The period following the death of Queen Elizabeth II was particularly challenging for the royal family as they navigated personal grief alongside increased responsibilities.

While King Charles III’s destiny as monarch was always clear, Princess Anne’s role became more defined in the aftermath of her mother’s passing. She took on a pivotal position within the family’s public image and internal structure.

As concerns over His Majesty’s health grew, so did the Princess Royal’s importance within the royal framework. She proved to be a steady and discreet supporter of her brother, helping ensure stability during uncertain times.

Her deep understanding of King Charles III’s upbringing and personality, combined with her unwavering desire for his success, made her an indispensable ally during this period.

“She understands completely who and what has shaped him and is eager for him to succeed: for the sake of their beloved mum and dad and the country and Commonwealth. In other words, she has the perfect perspective and characteristics to shoulder some of the King’s responsibility at this time,” he continued.

While Queen Camilla took on a more public-facing role, Princess Anne remained a constant presence, balancing the dual responsibilities of supporting her brother personally while fulfilling her public duties with characteristic efficiency.

In recent months, Princess Anne’s dedication to her duties was on display. In early August, ahead of her 74th birthday, the Princess Royal attended the 2024 Paris Olympics and presented medals.

During her time in Paris and Marseille, Princess Anne saw a range of sports competitions, including rugby sevens, swimming, rowing, and more. Princess Anne serves as the President of the British Olympic Association and has had a longstanding relationship with the Games.
