Cameron Diaz made her film debut alongside Jim Carrey

I was -1 years old when Cameron Diaz made one of the most impressive film debuts alongside comedy legend Jim Carrey.

1994 was the year of Chuck Russell’s The Mask, which follows timid bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey) who unearths a magical mask – unleashing his wild alter ego (with superpowers).

Stanley then comes up against crime boss Dorian Tyrell (Peter Greene), while Cameron Diaz makes her start in Hollywood as lounge singer Tina Carlyle, The Mask’s eventual love interest.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Diaz was asked about reprising her debut role, noting that Carrey kind of said he would be up for it.

“If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one,” she admitted.

This comes after Comicbook.com asked the Dumb and Dumber actor about the possibility of a sequel, to which he replied: “Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea.

“If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… But I never know.

“You can’t be definite about these things. I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting.

“Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”

Meanwhile, Diaz’s new comedy flick – Back In Action – marked her return to acting following a 10-year retirement, alongside Jamie Foxx.

Her last on-screen role was a decade ago in the 2014 Annie.

Previously speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Diaz said: “I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different.

Carey starred as The Mask (New Line Cinema)

“The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie.

“He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented, and just being able to work with him.”

Foxx previously told Entertainment Tonight that he persuaded Diaz to come out of retirement.

“Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business,” he said.

“We love her. So it was literally, ‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’ And I think that’s what brought her to it.

“We miss special moments sometimes in our business, and I think this is a special moment.

“So we’re so happy that it’s happening and looking forward to it.”

Woman issued major warning after being stung by ‘most venomous creature on earth’ that left ‘body vibrating’

Aussie tourist Zoe Cahill has been left with permanent scars after being stung by a box jellyfish

A woman warned holidaymakers to be wary when heading for a dip in the sea after she got stung by what experts have dubbed the ‘most venomous creature on earth’.

Zoe Cahill spent more than a month in hospital and has been left with permanent scarring across her body after she wrangled with a deadly box jellyfish in Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand.

She explained that she had been enjoying a solo-trip on the party island and had gone swimming near the shore of Zen Beach in October 2023 when the menacing marine animal struck.

The 23-year-old, from Queensland, Australia, said that it felt as though ‘electricity had shot through her body’ when the sea creature’s tentacles made contact with her skin.

Box jellyfish have up to 15 tentacles – which can reach 10ft in length – growing from each corner of their bells, according to National Geographic.

Each of these have around 5,000 stinging cells, which unleash a deadly toxin when they realise that prey is nearby after sensing the presence of a chemical on the outer layer of its lunch.

The venom from one of these cnidarian invertebrates, which get their name from the cube-like shape of their bell, attacks humans hearts, nervous system and skin cells.

“It is so overpoweringly painful, human victims have been known to go into shock and drown or die of heart failure before even reaching shore,” National Geographic explained. “Survivors can experience considerable pain for weeks and often have significant scarring where the tentacles made contact.”

Recounting her ordeal, she previously told 9News: “I thought I saw what looked like little bits of plastic in the ocean, and within seconds, this jellyfish stung me. The adrenaline kicked in.”

According to the yoga teacher, her entire body ‘felt like it was vibrating’ as the box jellyfish’s venom began to take hold.

The people who assisted Cahill on the beach later claimed that she had collapsed on the sand and had started to turn blue.

A nurse also began performing CPR on Cahill, who could only recall ‘crying, screaming’ and being ‘confused as to what was happening’.

Experts advise those who suffer a box jellyfish sting to immediately exit the water, alert emergency services, and to apply vinegar, hot water, or baking soda to the sting if possible.

As well as causing excruciating pain, this injury can lead to paralysis, cardiac arrest, and even death.

Cahill was taken to a local hospital in Ko Pha Ngan, where doctors then informed her that she would need to be rushed to the nearby island of Ko Samui via speed boat for emergency treatment.

She was then tended to by a marine toxin specialist and ultimately ended up remaining in hospital for more than a month.

The keen traveller was unable to walk for two weeks due to the extent of her horror stings, reminders of which are displayed across her body in an intricate web of scars – which Cahill says she wears ‘like the finest of jewellery’.

She has been sharing the details of her recovery on social media since her 2023 ordeal, explaining that she also suffered a cardiac arrest following the box jellyfish attack.

In an Instagram post shared in November 2023, Cahill wrote: “Mumma Ocean gave me a beautiful upgrade. I was stung countless times by planet Earth’s most venomous animal – the box jellyfish.

“Permanent stings across my chest, arms and legs sent me into a natural state of cardiac arrest, the venom giving me the grandest of awakenings.

“When I miraculously made it to shore I very peacefully drifted into a deep state of sleep. Beginning my journey towards the heavens.

“I have spent the last weeks in the emergency wards of a Thailand hospital in a state of deep meditation. Western medical experts affirmed to my family that the chances of my survival were next to nothing.”

According to Cahill, she was somehow able to walk away with test results showing that her ‘organs were functioning at a healthy rate’ and that she had ‘no signs of injury’.

Although the tourist is now empowered by her bout against the box jellyfish, she doesn’t want others to go through the same pain that she did.

She explained that she wanted to share her story after hearing about other victims ‘sparked her attention’, adding: “I don’t think many people are aware. I had no idea these types of jellyfish were so close to the island.”

Interestingly, Cahill revealed in a post that she had actually developed something of a ‘jellyfish obsession’ in 2020 before the incident, saying: “I would dream about them constantly. Nothing is accidental.”

She told her followers that her ‘entire value system changed’ the day she got stung and that it ‘unraveled a newfound appreciation for this human existence and the love that surrounds her’.

The 10-part anthology series was first released back in 2017

If you need something to watch this weekend, look no further.

A sci-fi thriller that people are calling ‘better than Black Mirror‘ has been added to Amazon Prime Video, and it’s getting some impressive reviews.

The show was first released back in 2017 on Channel 4 and stars the likes of Bryan Cranston, Timothy Spall, Terrence Howard and Holliday Grainger.

Similar to Black Mirror, each of the 10 episodes follows a different story and is based on work by 20th century author Philip K Dick.

The sci-fi anthology series explores different eery plots, including aliens using body doubles on Earth, robots and telepathic super powers.

Considering the similarities, people have been comparing the show to Black Mirror with many viewers claiming it’s better than the Netflix series.

Others were sad that it didn’t seem to get as much recognition, with the show only running for one season.

Over on Google Reviews, one person wrote: “All episodes have famous actors and the storyline pulls you in to the story. A must watch for sci-fi fans.

“Better than Black Mirror in the sense that most episodes have happy endings and Black Mirror had only San Junipero in the 1st season. Some of the CGI might not be as good as other shows, but everything else is 5 stars.”

While another wrote on X: “Been watching Philip K Dick’s electric dreams on prime + now I really need to read his written work bc wowwww such a shame there was only one season, it really needs another as it’s so thought-provoking + raises a lot of questions surrounding the nature of reality.”

And a third added: “Electric Dreams in prime giving me Black Mirror vibes with its story telling.”

“Everyone talks about Black Mirror but no one talks about Electric Dreams and that makes me sad,” said a fourth.

And a fifth added: “If you liked Black Mirror, check out Electric Dreams on Prime. On top of being a scifi anthology with strange twists, we also get performances from Anna Paquin, Bryan Cranston, and Steve Buscemi. What more could you ask for?”

The show only ended up running for one season, with some users explaining the episodes were better as they went along.

“It gets better and better as it goes along, with the last two episodes in particular being amazing,” wrote one viewer.

If you’re craving a decent sci-fi series, after the last season of Black Mirror aired in 2023, Electric Dreams could be one to binge watch.

One Dragon was proved wrong after they completely dismissed the idea

The Dragons’ Den is full of wealth, expertise and business knowhow.

But pretty much no one knew just how successful one of the rejected businesses would become.

During a 2008 episode of the BBC show, Rachel Watkyn entered the Den with her sustainable packaging business.

And at the time, it was labelled as ‘pathetic’, whilst most of us parrots at home probably would’ve agreed.

But how wrong were we after the Tiny Box Company went on to become a mega £10million-a-year business.

Though Duncan Bannatyne absolutely slated it: “I think it’s ridiculous that you’ve come along with what you call a business, that you describe as ethical and recyclable materials and you produce a box which my eight-year-old daughter Emily could make better at school, the ends don’t match up, the lines aren’t straight.

“It’s pathetic, it really is.”

Just because he wasn’t onboard doesn’t mean the other Dragons weren’t, as Watkyn and her business partner walked away with £60,000 worth of investments by Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis.

And she’s absolutely had the last laugh of it.

Fifteen years on from her Dragons’ Den experience, she told ITV Meridian: “They were brutal, they were absolutely brutal.

“On the show, I didn’t have any confidence. Off camera, I just knew that ‘Etsy’ was becoming more and more popular and ‘Not on the High Street.’

“There was a movement of a lot of start up companies and I knew that they would all need packing like I did.”

She was totally right; her company now makes over 1,500 products for nearly 200,000 customers.

Making £10 million a year, Watkyn finds it ‘hilarious’ that not everyone understands her business.

“It’s really funny when people come into the warehouse and don’t know why they’re here, or are coming for something else, they’ll say ‘what do you sell then?’ And we’ll say ‘boxes.’”

People ‘just don’t get it’ when she explains they sell ‘empty boxes’.

Watkyn added: “One of the dragons said that eco-friendly packaging would never be mainstream.

“But everything people buy comes in a bag or a box or some kind of packaging, and if we can help business switch from plastic or less environmentally friendly solutions to more environmentally friendly, then the job’s done.”

Despite the confusion and the slamming of the business being ‘pathetic’, Watkyn was actually awarded an OBE in 2024 for her work in sustainability, ethical business growth and exports.

If you haven’t had the bug, it might be down to more than just good hygiene

If you’ve had a run-in with Norovirus this winter season, then we feel for you.

Over the last few months, the UK Health Security Agency has issued warnings after a surge in cases of the highly contagious bug.

Norovirus, which has also been nicknamed the ‘winter vomiting bug’, is a virus that mainly causes vomiting and diarrhoea.

Sufferers may also have a fever, a headache and muscle aches, too.

If you’ve had it, you’ll know it’s pretty unpleasant, but it does often clear within a few days.

However, it is known for being super contagious and is usually spread via close contact or on surfaces. It’s also pretty immune to hand gel, which is why washing hands is the best option if you want to avoid it.

If you haven’t had the bug, however, it might be down to more than just good hygiene.

Ever wondered why some people tend to get it while others don’t? Or, why some people come down with it much worse?

According to Professor Patricia Foster from Indiana University Bloomington, people with a certain blood type could be more resistant to the bug.

Turns out, those with B blood type could have less chance of catching Norovirus, than those with A, AB or O.

“When Norovirus is ingested, it initially infects the cells that line the small intestine. Researchers don’t know exactly how this infection then causes the symptoms of the disease,” writes Professor Foster.

“But a fascinating aspect of Norovirus is that, after exposure, blood type determines, in a large part, whether a person gets sick.

“Your blood type – A, B, AB, or O – is dictated by genes that determine which kinds of molecules, called oligosaccharides, are found on the surface of your red blood cells. Oligosaccharides are made from different types of sugars linked together in complex ways.

“… Norovirus and a few other viruses use these oligosaccharides to grab onto and infect the intestinal cells. It’s the specific structure of these oligosaccharides that determines whether a given strain of virus can attach and invade.

“… People with B blood type will tend to be resistant, whereas people with A, AB, or O blood types will tend get sick, but the pattern will depend on the specific strain of Norovirus.”

So, if your blood type is either A, AB or O, you could be less resistant to the bug.

Norovirus can usually be treated at home and tends to resolve after a couple of days.

The NHS heavily encourages getting plenty of rest and to make sure you have lots of fluids to avoid becoming dehydrated.

It’s also recommended to stay at home until you have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least two days as this is when you’re most infectious.

Jennifer Lawrence slept with director of film which she admits she 'doesn't understand'

Lawrence opened up on the bizarre 2017 film that she starred in

Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she’s still lost on the plot of one of her most successful movies, despite being in a relationship with its director at the time.

The 34-year-old is now happily married to Cooke Maroney with a second child on the way, but the star continues to be overly eager to share details about her private life.

Rising to stardom as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series, Lawrence also won an Oscar for her role in 2012 movie Silver Linings Playbook.

However, one of the actor’s films made headlines for an admission that she made on a talk show in 2023.

Released in 2017, the horror film, titled Mother!, directed by Darren Aronofsky, stars Lawrence as the titular character.

The flick follows a poet and his wife, whose calm life becomes a hectic mess when uninvited guests start to show up to their home in the countryside, uninvited.

Described by many viewers as confusing and bizarre, the thriller is shrouded in symbolism and tone rather than character and plot, meaning it can be easy to get lost as the story progresses.

And, it turns out that filmgoers weren’t the only ones who weren’t entirely sure what the fever dream of a movie was trying to say.

In a conversation with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Lawrence admitted she was still baffled by the movie.

The host asked: “On a scale of one to totally confused, how much did you understand your film Mother!?”

Lawrence responded: “I’m going to be honest. Well, I was sleeping with the director, so I had CliffsNotes. So… five? Or a four. But if anybody needs any tips on understanding their films, you know what to do!”

When Cohen joked back, “F*** the director?,” Lawrence replied: “Yeah!”

The actor tried to explain the film’s plot in an interview with Deadline in 2017.

“The most important thing to know about this film before seeing it is that it’s all allegory. It’s all metaphor that’s tied to this narrative. It’s the creation and decimation of the universe, including Biblical themes and creation of religion,” she said.

“I represent Mother Earth, and what I have is Baby Jesus – if we guess the religion. I play this woman who has built this home from the ground up. I’m in a relationship with an artist who is obsessed with needing appreciation from me first, and then I’m not enough.”

Lawrence dated Aronofsky, who also directed Black Swan, for a year before they broke up in November 2017.

J-Law also revealed that with the director thinking of Mother! as ‘his baby,’ she found it hard to relax.

In an interview with Variety, she said: “Normally, I promote a movie, ask people to go see it, and then it’s just out of your hands.

“I normally just kind of let it go. Dating the director was different. We’d be on the [press] tour together, and that’s all he wants to talk about, and I get it. It’s his baby.

He wrote it. He conceived it. He directed it. I was doing double duty trying to be a supportive partner while also being like, ‘Can I please, for the love of God, not think about Mother! for one second?’”

KSI agrees to fight ex-footballer Wayne Bridge with shocking comments at live event

YouTuber KSI agreed to a boxing match with ex-Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge last night (18 January)

YouTuber and influencer KSI has called out former footballer Wayne Bridge for a fight.

The content creator is the CEO of Misfits, a crossover boxing promotion that often features celebrities and non-traditional boxers going at it in sold-out events.

Most recently, Misfits had its first event of the year at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester last night (18 January), where the main event saw English mixed martial artist, Darren Till, knock out fellow MMA fighter Anthony Taylor in the sixth round.

While Till focused on calling out Tommy Fury and KSI after the fight, the latter had his eye on someone else in the arena for his next bout.

Taking the microphone after the headline fight, KSI addressed the crowd before former Premier League footballer Wayne Bridge made his way into the ring.

As the 44-year-old came face-to-face with the influencer, he laughed, before saying: “Aren’t you the guy who let John Terry smash your ex?”

The comments brought on a reaction of jeers from the crowd, as Bridge asked the 31-year-old if he really wanted to go there.

“I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re known for,” KSI said to the crowd, before starting a chant about his ex-girlfriend: “Vanessa, woah, Vanessa, woah, she jumped on Terry’s d***, made big boy feel sick.”

As the crowd joined in, Bridge stared on, before finally replying: “You want it, you can get it,” as KSI seemingly agreed to a fight, saying ‘let’s do it’, before shoving the former Chelsea and Manchester City defender.

Though nothing has been confirmed yet, it looks like we could soon be seeing KSI in the ring with the retired footballer.

You can’t deny that it’s entertaining, but many fans of the YouTuber have been longing to see him step in the ring with Jake Paul, who has also been making a name for himself in the boxing world, with an 11-1 record.

Paul and KSI have also both faced off against Tommy Fury, though the former Love Island contestant emerged victorious both times via decision.

Users took to the comments to share what they thought about the scuffle, as one said: “Ksi makes fun of Jake Paul for who Jake fights then ksi calls out a former football player”

Another added: “About as predictable as the news at 10”

A third commented: “People were saying KSI is not going on the same route as Jake Paul. Now what?”

Specific rule on board world’s largest spicy cruise ship with 6,700 swingers will see you put in boat’s jail if you break it

There are also strict rules about where you can nude and where you can have sex

The world’s largest spicy cruise ship welcomes a staggering 6,700 swingers on board when setting jail. But it comes with a warning, with passengers potentially ending up in the vessel’s jail for breaking one very serious rule.

Hosted on board Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seasthe Bliss Cruise holiday is loved by thousands of swingers every single time it sets sail from Miami, Florida.

One married couple recently took to TikTok to document their time on board the polygamous cruise, explaining what they got up to from the ordinary to the more unique.

But as with any holiday or excursion there are rules we all have to follow. And falling foul of them could land you in big trouble, with that trouble in this case being a cruise ship’s jail.

Cruise ship rules

Bliss Cruise has many rules on board its Symphony of the Seas trip.

There are basic ones such as being at least 21 years old and showing respect to other passengers.

But given the nature of what goes down in the play rooms and private cabins, there is also an emphasis on consent.

“No means no. Anyone that doesn’t understand this or is making unwanted advances could be subject to expulsion from the ship at the next port, without a refund,” Bliss bluntly says on its website.

Being nude is also allowed but restricted in certain areas, such as the restaurants. In fact, you can only be without clothes on the outside decks, play rooms, and the sauna.

As for partaking in sexual activity, it is strictly only allowed in private cabins or in the designated play areas, of which there were three on the last cruise (including an open air one, fancy).

“Guests violating any rule pertaining to sexual activity in forbidden places may be removed from the ship by its security team at the next port of call. No refunds will be issued,” the cruise holiday said.

Another key point stressed by Bliss was not to approach staff to get involved in these goings on, who will ‘lose their jobs’ if caught taking part.

What rule will land you in cruise ship jail?

It’s all to do with what you bring on to the spicy cruise.

So if you think you can bring illegal drugs on board, you’ll be in for a shock. The same goes for medicinal cannabis.

If you’re caught with anything at the port when boarding, you’ll be denied entry. And if you’re caught with substances on board, it’s jail-time for you.

Rule five on the Bliss Cruise website explicitly states: “Illicit and illegal drugs of any type, including medicinal marijuana, are not permitted on the ship.

“If found during the check-in process at the terminal, the cruise line will deny boarding.

“If found on the ship, the cruise line can and will most likely jail you until a port is reached where you will be handed over to the authorities, and possibly face criminal prosecution.”

Bliss Cruise adds that ‘no refunds will be issued if denied boarding or removed from the ship’, so it’s a lose-lose in every sense.

Man is asked ‘one of hardest questions ever’ on 1% Club and gets it spot on

It’s a tall order to get the right answer in 30 seconds

A man who ended up winning the Australian version of The 1% Club had to get through a really difficult question to get his hands on the final prize.

If you’re not familiar with the show, 100 contestants have to answer questions that a progressively smaller amount of people were able to get right and for everyone eliminated another grand is added to the prize pot.

Get to the end and you can walk away with a nifty 10k of your currency (so you should play the UK version because our money is worth more) or you can risk it all for your share of the accumulated prize pot by answering their ‘1 percent question’ that almost nobody got right.

What you’ll get depends on how many players have been eliminated, whether anyone took their money and quit the game (something you can do if you reach a certain point) and how many final contestants there were who get the last question right.

Of course, the dream has got to be ending up as the last player standing so you can get all of the money for yourself.

That’s just what Aussie bloke Michael managed to do when he was asked what viewers thought was an incredibly hard question.

Could you do it in just 30 seconds?

Michael got the question right, can you? (Channel 7)

Michael got the question right, can you? (Channel 7)

The question goes: “If January equals 717, March equals 5315 and June equals 4624, then what does August equal?”

Start that 30 second timer and see if you can get the right answer… tick, tick, tick.

When Michael’s time was up he’d been writing right until the final moment and admitted that he’d changed his answer while trying to figure out the final question.

With AUS$100,000 (£50,000) on the line he was clearly hoping he’d figured out the right answer and cleared the final question.

The answer was revealed to be ‘6848’, which is precisely what Michael had given as his answer and his success was greeted with widespread applause.

Does that answer make sense to you? (Channel 7)

Does that answer make sense to you? (Channel 7)

If you played along properly reading this and got the correct answer, then you ought to feel good about yourself.

However, if you’re wondering how on Earth you get the number 6848 from August then remember that The 1% Club questions almost always function like riddles where the clue is in how you’re asked.

The answer is 6848 because there are six letters in the word August and it’s the eighth month of the year, multiply them together and you get 48.

Put all the numbers in the equation together and you get 6848, your answer, which is also how you get 717 from January, 5315 from March and 4624 from June.

Olga Moskalyova’s harrowing last words were to her mother

A mother spoke out about her devastation after her teenage daughter was killed while on the phone to her.

19-year-old Olga Moskalyova was taking a summer walk in eastern Siberia before the horrific incident happened.

Olga was on the stroll with her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, by a river in the Russian region of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in August 2011 when a predator attacked them.

A brown bear lunged at the pair, though Olga dodged the animal at first, she witnessed the mother bear attack Igor as his skull was crushed and his neck was broken in front of her.

As he died, Olga ran about 200 feet away from the beast, though it caught up and bit into her leg, dragging her to the ground.

While trying to fight for her life against one of the most terrifying creatures in the world, she got her phone out and called her mother, Tatiana, multiple times during the attack.

Firstly, she shouted down the line: “Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it’s such agony. Mum, help!”

Tatiana initially thought that she was joking, but she recalled to the Daily Mail: “But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga’s voice, and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing.

“I could have died then and there from shock,” she remembered.

Tatiana then tried to get in touch with her husband, not knowing he had already succumbed to his injuries.

She then tried to get in touch with authorities and called family members in the village of Termalniy, desperately trying to get help as she asked people to get to the river.

Olga then called her mother again, saying: “Mum, the bears are back. She came back and brought her three babies.

“They’re… eating me.”

Then, the teenager made her final call about an hour later after the bears left her for dead.

“Mum, it’s not hurting any more. I don’t feel the pain,” she told her mother. “Forgive me for everything, I love you so much.”

That’s when the line was cut, and Tatiana heard her daughter speak for the last time.

Just half an hour later, Igor’s brother, Andrei, appeared at the scene with police, finding the mother bear feasting on his body, with Olga’s dead body also on the ground.

Six hunters were called by emergency services to kill the mother bear and her cubs.

Tatiana said at the time: “My daughter was such fun. She was so cheerful, friendly, and warm.

“She had graduated from music school, and just days before the bear attack she got her driving licence.”

Olga and Igor were buried on the same day in 2011.
