The 54-year-old millionaire shares five children with his ex-husband and business partner, Tony. Fathering twins, Saffron and Aspen, through surrogacy in 1999, the pair were reportedly Britian’s first gay dads.

After the self-made millionaires split, Barrie met Scott, feeling an instant attraction to the lad 23 years his junior.

And when they began dating, people were led to believe he was his Saffron’s ex.

However, on Truly, Scott explained: “I was still kind of that straight lad so I didn’t really have that attraction straight away.”

So, with Barrie feeling an attraction the ‘moment he met him’, the storyline with his daughter came into play.

“When Scott was coming out, he didn’t want to just announce to his parents and everybody that he was gay so between him and Saffron they came up with this plan to say that Saffron was actually his girlfriend,” the multi-millionaire explained.

“He was literally seeing me. It kept our relationship a secret.”

The cover-up was so convincing to some that people would troll the pair with Barrie admitting ‘lots of people think it’s weird’ he would be dating his daughter’s ex.

“But the fact is, she was never his ex,” he added.

Saffron also confirmed she ‘never actually dated’ Scott, saying they were simply ‘just best friends’.

They say the backlash to people believing the ruse was ‘horrendous’, questioning Barrie over ‘how could he go with his daughter’s boyfriend’.

“If he was my daughter’s ex-boyfriend I would still have no qualm whatsoever in sh***ing him,” Barrie joked. “There’d be no problem with that at all – if they’re done, then he’s mind if I want him and that’s it. But the fact is, he never really was.”

Having been together for over a decade now, the pair share two young children together; Valentina and Romeo. Barrie made much of his fortune with Tony through a number of business ventures including a trans-Atlantic surrogacy business.

While Barrie might be targeted by ‘keyboard warriors’, he said he ‘couldn’t give a flying f**k what any of them thought’.

A family from Canada, who were lucky enough to capture Ring footage of the meteorite falling onto their property, say ‘it’s not anything we’ve ever heard before’.

Joe Velaidum, from in Marshfield, Prince Edward Island, says he’s lucky to be alive after ‘standing right at the point of impact, just minutes prior’.

Before Joe and his partner Laura headed off on their dog walk, the home owner said he noticed that a leash was on the grass that day on 25 July, 2024.

He went and moved it because landscapers were supposed to be coming the next day.

Had he stayed there for a minute or two, Joe believes a meteorite would have struck him.

“It’s mind blowing to think that this hunk or rock travelled hundreds of millions of miles and landed on our front doorstep where I was standing, exactly, a few minutes prior.”

“So, when I was innocently moving that dog lead, a meteor was hurling towards me,” he added.

“We didn’t know this until we came back from the walk. When we came to the walkway it was covered with black rocks. They were everywhere.

“We had no idea what caused it, so we started to clean it up. Laura’s parents live close to us and were outside, and heard a large bang when we were out walking the dogs.

“As we were cleaning it, they came over and Laura’s dad thought immediately that it could be a meteor. We were both skeptical.

“But when we went onto the video cameras, we saw that something hit with a tremendous force in the exact spot I was standing just a few minutes earlier.

“That’s when we contacted Chris Herd, the well-known meteor specialist from the University of Alberta, who eventually confirmed this as a meteorite strike.”

“As the first and only meteorite from the province of PEI, the Charlottetown Meteorite sure announced its arrival in a spectacular way. No other meteorite fall has been documented like this, complete with sound,” Chris Herd, curator of the University of Alberta’s Meteorite Collection said.

“It adds a whole new dimension to the natural history of the Island.”

Known also as 2pac and Makaveli, the American music artist rose to fame in the 1990s with hits such as ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ and ‘Me Against the World’ gaining him popularity before dropping his most memorable tune, ‘California Love’.

Sadly though, in 1996, his life ended in tragedy.

Tupac was gunned down after watching Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson in Las Vegas on 7 September 1996 while making his way to his record label’s nightclub, Club 662, with record executive Suge Knight.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he would die from internal bleeding days later.

Aged just 25 at the time, Tupac’s death is considered one of the most tragic in the music industry.

But now, the detective who worked on the ‘Hit Em Up’ star’s murder has spoken about how his life would have looked if he somehow survived the shooting.

Former LAPD detective Greg Kading is known for working on both the Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace) and Tupac Shakur murder cases.

Since then, many have credited Kading and his task force for laying down the foundations for the 2023 arrest of Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis for the murder of Tupac.

Speaking on the Mad That Podcast, Kading claimed: “If Tupac didn’t get shot and killed, nothing happens to Biggie. That’s just guaranteed.

“If Tupac would have survived in Las Vegas, a lot of people won’t realise, his life was going to be forever changed.”

Kading went on: “Even if he had survived the shooting, he had lost a lung, (so) he would’ve been a different Tupac.”

The former detective opened up on the events before Tupac’s death too, where, along with his associates, they assaulted a man in the hotel lobby as one of them claimed he tried to rob them previously.

As it was caught on CCTV, Kading claimed: “Maybe he would’ve went back to jail, because he was out on bond and now he just participates in an assault in public, which is videotaped.”

However, he also said that if the fight at the MGM hotel never happened, both iconic rappers would be alive today.

Biggie Smalls was gunned down the year after Tupac’s death in a similar drive-by shooting scenario. He was just 24 years old.

However, the first responder on the scene following Tupac’s death says otherwise, as Las Vegas Police Officer Chris Carroll held the rapper in his arms after the shooting.

Rogan, best known for his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience and for commentating on the UFC, once shared an extreme diet that he undertook.

The 57-year-old is known for leaving no stone unturned on his show, with some admissions being better left unsaid.

But Rogan ploughs on regardless – it’s more or less part of his brand now.

He previously explained how he lost 12lbs (5.4 kg) through a specific diet and how his body reacted afterwards.

Celebrity diets are always a hot topic of conversation, but the ‘wacky’ diet, as he described, had an effect on his bowel movements.

Wait – it gets worse.

Going into excruciating detail, Rogan said that he had diarrhoea so severe, that it felt like a ‘rainforest mudslide overtaking a mountain road’.

Reading this feels like a punishment for something but at least you’re clued up on Rogan’s bowel chronicles.

It all began back in February 2020, when Rogan said that he gave up veggies, fruit, grains, nuts and seeds to take on the carnivore diet.

While eggs and some dairy products were allowed, the American podcaster went all in with animal food products.

Rogan decided to consume raw animal meat because he’d recently weighed in at 205 pounds (14.6st) – which he said was the ‘fattest he had ever been’.

Taking to Instagram at the time, he explained: “So I did the carnivore diet for all of January, I lost 12 pounds, gained a tonne of energy – my energy levels were completely flat the whole month, no ups and downs from crashing after eating.”

Rogan went on: “I had a belly; a lot of people made fun of me, fat-shamed me. I lost all my fat, I lost the belly, I lost my love handles. I don’t know if I’m gonna keep eating like this but it was tremendously beneficial.

“I also have an auto-immune disorder, it’s called vitiligo, and my vitiligo improved, I had a bunch of white spots fill in, so, I don’t know.”

He also added: “I went into this thing thinking this carnivore diet was wacky and probably thought it was nonsense, but this is as good as I’ve felt in a long time and it’s just one month.”

But Rogan’s weight loss ultimately came at a price. A very explosive, smelly one (yes, sorry we’re back to diarrhoea).

The podcaster then revealed: “There’s really only one ‘bad’ thing, and that thing is diarrhoea.

“I’m not sure diarrhoea is an accurate word for it, like I don’t think a shark is technically a fish. It’s a different thing, and with regular diarrhoea I would compare it to a fire you see coming a block or two away and you have the time to make an escape, whereas this carnivore diet is like out of nowhere the fire is coming through the cracks, your doorknob is red hot, and all hope is lost.”

There you go – you’re now an expert in Joe Rogan’s bowel movements. For better or for worse.

Despite it coming out 40 years ago, it was a staple in many of our childhoods from doing the Truffle Shuffle in the playground to shouting ‘hey you guysss’ at any given opportunity.

And it’s lamenting its cult status with the announcement of a sequel film. Yep, according to ScreenRant, The Goonies 2 is in development.

Chris Columbus is set to come back for it and pen a treatment, having written the screenplay for the original hit.

But while we might not yet know the details of this new movie, there’s one stand-out character in particular who we can sadly be sure won’t return – Sloth.

The deformed son of villain Mama Fratelli, the guy who played him has a tragic story.

John Matuszak was best known as the iconic character but also appeared in films like One Crazy Summer and North Dallas Forty.

Primarily though, he was a professional NFL player and mostly played with the Oakland Raiders before retiring after his second Super Bowl win in 1981.

Matuszak sadly died at the age of just 38 in 1989 following misfortune after misfortune.

Before even reaching adulthood, he lost two brothers to cystic fibrosis, with one dying two months after birth and another dying at the age of two.

The actor, who would spend five hours getting into prosthetics and makeup to become Sloth, was an imposing man with a height of 6ft 8. And that came in pretty handy on the football field.

But while the sport brought him plenty of success, it also brought chronic pain, beginning with an injury that he suffered while playing in college.

This initial injury – a shoulder separation – at the University of Missouri was followed by multiple back injuries that eventually led to surgery in the early eighties.

By this point, the footballer was in so much pain that he was put on the reserve list before retirement.

Matuszak resorted to self-medicating with drugs and prescription medications, which resulted in addictions.

During an autobiography published in the eighties, Cruisin’ With The Tooz, he said he did get clean at one point.

“I abstain from cocaine, and any other foreign substance, entirely now,” Matuszak wrote. “I take nothing, not even sleeping pills. I’ve hit damn near bottom. I don’t ever want to go back.”

However, he sadly due to an accidental overdose.

Following his death, his parents spoke of Matuszak’s pain being a major contributing factor in his death, while his ex-girlfriend added he was also in ‘a lot of emotional pain’.

Dr Chris van Tulleken is no stranger to taking on experiments to do with food, all in the name of science.

The medic previously went on a different diet to his identical twin brother in order for them to compare results and has advised people to avoid ultra-processed food for their long-term health.

Dr van Telleken undertook the test for 30 days for the 2021 BBC doc What Are We Feeding Our Kids?.

He prefaced the experiment by explaining that his normal ‘healthy diet’ consists of 20 percent ultra-processed foods, moving to the 80 percent ultra-processed food diet as one in five Brits eat like this, regularly.

Dr van Telleken wanted to see if this change would impact his health, though his experiment was monitored by ‘one of Britain’s top obesity experts’, to ensure scientifically valid results.

Feasting on meals such as fried chicken, microwave lasagne, stuffed crust frozen pizza, oven chips and fast food among other things.

The doctor noted that he continued to eat ‘when he felt hungry’, though as time went on, he found that this feeling came around more often than before.

Reading the ingredients on the packaging on some of his new meals, Dr van Telleken quipped: “What am I tasting? What are they trying to get me to taste, and how does this all feel in my mouth?”

Dr van Telleken also revealed that he was struggling to poo, even going 48 hours without a bowel movement.

Before he knew it though, the 30 days were up and it was time to see the results.

The results

The before-and-after photos showed that he had clearly gained weight over the course of the month, and that’s not all.

His weight increased by 6.5 kg within the four weeks, while his Body Mass Index (BMI) went up by two points, making him overweight, while his body fat also increased by three kilograms.

Dr van Telleken explained that at that rate, he would have gained six stone (38 kg) in just six months.

Moving onto brain activity and hormone levels, the obesity doctor highlighted that his hunger hormone went up by 30 percent, which explained why he constantly felt hungry despite eating a lot, as well as a decrease in the ‘fullness’ hormone.

The way the doctor’s brain worked changed too, as scans revealed that new functional connections were made in his brain as a result of the diet.

He explained: “Comparing these scans has revealed that my diet has linked up the reward centres of my brain, with the areas that drive repetitive, automatic behaviour.”

Dr van Telleken said that essentially, eating ultra-processed food was something his brain was telling him to do, despite him not necessarily wanting it.

Both medics shared their worry for children in the UK who may eat the same diet, though their brains are much more malleable than his.

As nice as a cheeky fried chicken or frozen pizza may be, it might be best to lay off the ultra-processed scran for a bit.

And so that means we’re at the point where it doesn’t take much for your mate to convince you to just ‘have one’ because you’ve made it so far into Dry January.

But for some, the benefits of ditching drink might be proving so worthy you’ve realised how much good it’s done you. Perhaps you’re even considering carrying on without alcohol for a longer period.

There really are so many benefits to sobriety, often individual to everyone, and one woman who has been sober for three years has shared the most surprising thing she experienced.

Lucy Moon is a content creator who shared a Q&A video after hitting the three-year mark in November 2024.

Explaining she’d experienced ‘so many changes’ since ditching alcohol, a follower asked her: “What was the best thing you didn’t expect to come out of being sober?”

And for Moon, it was something less about herself, but more about her connection with others.

“I think being able to help people who are also trying to get sober,” she said. “I do some work with helping young people get sober in my personal life and that is really, really rewarding.”

As well as this surprising benefit in the joy she feels in helping others get sober, Moon explained that the changes to her ‘physical health and mental wellbeing’ since is ‘like night and day’.

She explained that her lips stopped being as chapped, she lost weight, her skin got ‘so much clearer’, she has less inflammation, and her sleep is ‘much more regular’.

Moon said that going sober helped her to be able to eat gluten again which she found ‘mind-blowing’ because she was convinced that she was celiac.

However, she reckons she just ‘had loads and loads of inflammation’ that she was simply ‘fuelling’ with so much wine.

“My sleep is better quality which makes my whole life better quality,” she added.

“I’m much more self-aware and at the same time I’m much more forgiving,” she continued, “and able to manage the heightened self-awareness a little bit more.”

The holidaymakers flew out to Safaga, Egypt, with two friends to the four-star Paradise Abu Soma Resort in September.

Robbie, a 42-year-old former civil servant, complained about his ‘shabby, 1980s-style’ room, which was ‘dirty’, claiming there were hairs in his bed.

But that was only the start.

He said that the ‘sports facilities’ were unusable and the hotel suffered an alleged power cut.

“It’s an annual trip that me, my wife and our friends take to celebrate our anniversaries. We got married in the same month, in different years, to our respective partners,” the Colchester resident said.

“I’ve been to Egypt eight or nine times over the course of the last 13 years. We’ve never had any issues in the past.

“My wife booked the hotel online and all the pictures and reviews looked really good. It looked really picturesque.

“When we got to the hotel, we thought this can’t be right. My wife was practically in tears.

“We were supposed to be staying in one of the beachside, ocean-view chalets, which was just a double bedroom with 1980s decor in really poor condition.

“I think we had one plug socket in the whole room that we could use. It was really dirty – there were hairs in the bed. Just very poor quality.

“This was supposed to be a four-star hotel. We didn’t even have a duvet, each bed just had a single sheet on it. There was no additional bedding in the room. We just froze the whole time.”

The pair who booked their holiday with On the Beach said they were in touch with the travel agent to change hotels.

Allegedly, Paradise Abu Soma Resort offered them a different room, but Robbie says it ‘looked terrible’ – and it had been nicknamed the ‘prison block’.

“The hotel offered us a different hotel room in what the guests call the ‘prison block’,” he said.

“They advertised basketball courts, tennis courts, crazy golf, sports facilities and it looked more like Syria or Beirut. You couldn’t use them.

“It looked and felt like a warzone. If we’d taken them up on their offer and stayed in the ‘prison block’, that would’ve been our view when we opened the curtains.

“My wife was so disappointed because she’d booked the whole thing. She thought she’d ruined it for everybody. She wanted to go home.

“We were going out there to celebrate our anniversary and have a relaxing time, but we just thought thank god that’s over. It was a relief leaving.

“We’d like some compensation for the experience we had. It was the one holiday we save up for every year that we spend our hard-earned cash on.”

“We always want our customers to have a great holiday and have offered a cash refund to reflect their experience.

“We have also implemented new processes and additional training to quickly and proportionately manage, resolve and support customers who contact us with issues while on holiday.”
