Here’s a revelation: chatting about what you want could mean you actually get what you want

With the festivities over and the new year kicking off, you might be spending the next month or so indoors to recover from the financial and social pile-on.

So, that might mean spending even more time with your partner at home than usual and maybe, even more time to get it on in between the sheets.

Well, that’s if you survive the ‘New Year Split’ period anyway. And while there are plenty of things you should ‘never’ do in the bedroom, here is something you should do – chat.

A sex therapist has shared the 10 questions to ask your partner in 2025 that could change things in the bedroom.

Vanessa Marin is a sex therapist who took to Instagram to help people ‘feel more connected’ in their relationship.

Enjoyment

First up, Marin suggests: “What do you enjoy most about our sexual experience?”

She says that having an understanding of what brings pleasure for your partner ‘can deepen intimacy’.

Fantasies

Apparently, we should be having a chat around: “Are there any fantasies you’d like to explore together?”

The sex therapist reckons asking this can ‘open new avenues for exploration’ in the bedroom.

Frequency

“How do you feel about our current frequency of sexual activity?” should be getting discussed, according to Marin.

Getting an idea of how often your partner wants to be getting steamy will help ‘align expectations and desires regarding intimacy’.

Get it on

Marin suggests asking one another: “What are your biggest turn-ons and turn-offs?”

Of course, it’s important to have a good knowledge of each other’s preferences and once you’ve got that right, she says you can ‘enhance mutual satisfaction’.

Experimenting

“How do you feel about trying new things in the bedroom?”

She says asking this and unlocking the door on experimentation can give you a gauge on just how far you can open it.

Emotions

Maybe try asking: “What role does emotional connection play in our sexual relationship?”

Having an understanding of the emotional aspect of it all for your partner ‘can strengthen the bond’, according to Marin.

History

The therapist encourages the question: “Are there any past experiences that affect your current sexual feelings?”

Getting this understanding of each other’s histories can make your bond stronger and ‘promote empathy’.

Outside or inside

“How do you feel about discussing sex outside of the bedroom?” is another one to ask.

Marin says being able to communicate about sex can ‘improve the overall relationship’.

The line

“What boundaries do you have regarding our sexual relationship?”

Establishing each other’s boundaries ‘is crucial for mutual respect and comfort’, according to the therapist.

Working together

And finally, Marin recommends asking: “How can we support each other in enhancing our relationship?”

Having this kind of conversation can apparently encourage ‘teamwork and collaboration in improving intimacy’.

Tom Holland has now been sober for three years

To get over a heavy festive period, to save some cash or for just whatever reason (it doesn’t even matter if you don’t have one) you might have decided to have a go at doing Dry January.

The month without booze is a challenge completed by plenty of Brits – even famous ones.

Tom Holland is one of those celebs who took on the month without booze and has been open about his journey with sobriety since, not to mention launching his own alcohol-free beer.

And in one conversation about ditching drink, he revealed he had a ‘scary’ realisation after attempting Dry January.

Appearing on the Rich Roll podcast, the Spider-Man star explained he’d had a ‘complicated’ relationship with alcohol as it was his ‘go-to to celebrate’ as well as his ‘go-to to commiserate’.

So in January 2022 he decided to go sober for the month with no real intention to do it long-term.

“And in doing Dry January, it really scared me because I had a really tough time,” the 28-year-old said.

“I couldn’t quite wrap my head around how much I was struggling without booze in that first month. And it really scared me.”

Holland then decided to ‘punish’ himself by deciding to do two months.

“The second month was no easier if anything like it got a little bit harder,” he explained. “So then again, I was starting to kind of panic thinking ‘damn, I have a bit of an alcohol thing’.”

The actor explained he’d had an ‘upsetting conversation with a doctor’ about his liver a year earlier and this acknowledgment of an issue contributed to a decision to do March too.

“And I got through March and started to feel a little bit better, but was still really struggling,” Holland said. “So I said to myself, if I can make it to June 1st, which is my birthday, and I can do six months without booze, I will have then proved to myself that I don’t have a problem. I’m just young and enjoying a drink. And then by the time I’d done six months sober, I really started feeling the benefits.”

Holland found he was sleeping was better, handling stressful situations and his relationships with his partner and family were better.

He then decided to try and get through a year. But by the time he’d ‘crossed that annual mark’, he ‘was done’.

The actor recalls thinking: “I’m never gonna drink again because this is the best version of myself.”

The best booze alternatives to try now

Best for IPA fans: BERO Variety Pack, £27 (approx)

Tom Holland’s new sober drinks range is a pretty good place to start. The variety pack comes with three booze-free tinnies: Kingston Golden Pils, Edge Hill Hazy IPA, and Noon Wheat. It’s gone down a treat with customers too – just take a look at the five-star reviews if you need convincing.

Guinness fans say this is the closest you’ll get to the real deal – and production of Guinness Zero tripled last year, so you’ll be in good company here.

Best ice-cold lager: Peroni, £4.60 per case

Of course, there was only one place to look. Peroni 0.0% claims to have the flavour of the renowned lager without the booze. It’s only £4.60 for a case, so you’re saving pennies too.

Best IPA variety pack: Lucky Saint, £22 (12 pack)

One of the best non-alcoholic beer brands on the market, Lucky Saint proudly uses centuries-old techniques to create modern beers that give maximum flavour (without the hangover). This pack comes with everything you need to survive Dry Jan: a new Superior Hazy IPA and Superior Unfiltered Lager.

If your go-to order is a good old G&T, then look no further than Tanqueray. Fans recommend mixing with a mediterranean tonic for best results.

Best booze-free cider: Galipette Brut Dry Cider, £30 per litre

If it’s cider you’re after, then Galipette has hundreds of five-star reviews. One shopper raved: “Wow. This is now my number one alcohol-free cider. I love the balance of sharpness and sweetness which, for me, is spot on.” Sold.

Most impressive rum: Caleño Dark and Spicy, £19

Well, this might make the new year’s hangover feel worse

The likelihood is you’ve either spent today (1 January) hitting the grind and prepping for a big year or slobbed out on the sofa and left it all for tomorrow.

But whatever plans you do have for 2025, you might want to consider. Well, depending on how much you believe in the likes of Baba Vanga, Nostradamus and other psychics anyway.

That’s because a self-proclaimed psychic who claims he predicted Covid-19 has given a shock revelation for 2025 with one major warning.

Nicolas Aujula says he has accurately predicted events like Donald Trump winning the US election in 2024 and the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Apparently the 38-year-old realised he had these abilities at 17-years-old as he gave his predictions for the year ahead.

The hypnotherapist, who lives in south London, reckons there will be ‘major wins’ for women in sport as well as a big concert where singers raise money for those in need.

I mean, considering the women’s Euros is coming up this year, those predictions seem pretty vague.

But despite seeing improved equality in the workplace in our near future, Aujula doesn’t see 2025 as bright.

Some may argue world wars have already begun (Getty Stock Image)

Yep, he’s apparently had visions of a Third World War kicking off from the middle of the year as he warns it’s going to be a year ‘where there is a lack of compassion in the world, where we will see horrific acts of human evil and violence towards each other in the name of religion and nationalism’.

Plus, here in the UK, Aujula is predicting slow economic growth with farm closures, companies going into liquidation, businesses ditching the country and a rise in inflation.

The psychic has also thrown shade at Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer as he predicts he’ll step down by the end of the year and ‘be replaced by a woman’.

It’s not so great for the environment either as Aujula predicts rising sea levels, increased rainfall and flooding that will damage homes and the environment.

Other predictions for 2025 include Katy Perry having ‘marriage problems’, Cate Blanchett ‘bagging a lot of awards’ and a reconciliation of Prince William and Harry with ‘images of this in the press’.

In the workplace, he predicts: “I see that there will be greater wage or salary transparency in the workplace so that employees will be able to see or check what people earn to create fairness.”

But despite the odd bits of success here and there, Aujula seems to see a pretty rough 2025 ahead for us. Just what you were hoping to hear today, right?…

How you can know if someone doesn’t like you based on their body language

Have you ever been talking to someone and suddenly got a feeling that they don’t like you?

You can’t put your finger on exactly what it is – they haven’t explicitly said it – but there’s just something in the air that feels hostile.

It’s a pretty common feeling but don’t worry if you’ve experienced it. A psychologist has shared five body language signs that might mean someone secretly dislikes you.

Francesca Tighinean is a US-based psychologist who regularly post videos on TikTok about the topic with her 1.3 million followers.

In her most recent video, which has been viewed more than 20,000 times, she shared certain things that can indicate a person’s real feelings towards you.

Avoiding eye contact

One of the easiest ways you can tell if someone doesn’t like you is if they avoid eye contact.

“This may suggest they are trying to avoid deeper connection or conversation,” she explains.

Pursing their lips

“‘Number two, pursing your lips,” she continued, explaining that this key detail can be ‘a nonverbal indication of irritation, stress or disapproval.’

Turning away from you

Francesca then notes that the person’s feet and/or body position can also indicate what they’re feeling.

“Number three, turning their body or feet away from you. This can indicate a desire to disengage. They might subconsciously position themselves toward an exit or away from the interaction.”

These include not smiling, pursing their lips and avoiding eye contact (Getty Stock Images)

Creating barriers

“Placing objects, such as a bag or crossed arms, between you can symbolise a need for psychological or physical space,” she reveals.

“Similarly, taking a step back or maintaining a noticeable distance can suggest discomfort.”

Not smiling

And last, Francesca says that limited smiling and engagement could be a sign they’re not interested.

“A lack of genuine smiles or limited facial expressions signals disinterest or lack of warmth in the interaction.”

Another psychology influencer, Josh Fraser Young, has shared further signs that the person you’re talking to is a hater and claims: “Knowing these will open your eyes to how people truly feel about you.”

According to Young, the number one thing to look out for is when a person downplays your achievements.

Next are people who are nice to everybody but you.

He explained: “If someone shows up for others but refuses to show up in that same way for you, they don’t like you.”

Trying to outshine your achievements and nitpicking at your flaws are also tell-tale signs that they’re not your biggest fan.

So, if you have anyone in your life who does these things, it might be best to make like Frozen’s Elsa and let them go.

Luke Littler will lose large chunk of earnings after staggering amount of money made in debut season

The lad could be set to make much, much more

Luke Littler’s back at it at Ally Pally tonight (2 January) for the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship.

And that means it’s been about a year since the lad truly broke through as a household name when he amazed us all with his skills on the global stage.

Last year’s matches marked just the start of a remarkable debut season for the Nuke as he went on to win the likes of the Bahrain Darts Masters, the Premier League and the Grand Slam.

So, with a number of titles under his belt, Littler has been able to rake in a staggering amount of money. However, he’ll lose a large chunk of those earnings.

Yep, just like the rest of us, the 17-year-old isn’t safe from the tax people.

Littler has earned a whopping £1,013,500 in career winnings across ranked and invitational tournaments so far. He took in a whopping £811,000 in 2024 before the increases thanks to the current Worlds.

And with big earnings comes a big tax bill at the end of the financial year.

Sport finance expert Dr Rob Wilson explained to Card Player: “On a simple tax calculation, he will have lost 40, 45 percent of his earnings, but he’s not going to be on a normal tax calculation. He’s going to have companies set up doing certain things.”

Wilson said Littler will have ‘big expenses’ to cut off those earnings ‘so the reality is that he’s paid 20% of that back in tax’.

“It might be a little bit less if he’s got some really good tax advisory around him which we’d expect someone to have that’s having that sort of earning capacity,” he added.

Littler has already made a hefty amount. (James Fearn/Getty Images)

This isn’t ‘about evasion’ though apparently, ‘just being efficient’.

“Let’s not forget that of that 600 plus thousand [his earnings], he also has a team around him that he needs to pay for. They will all be on salaries, he needs hotels, he needs travel, and all of those things get wrapped up in some of that as well,” Wilson said.

“Having earned £633,000 [in the financial year of the PDC’s Order of Merit], you can estimate that he’s kept 500k of that. But if he’s got a competition manager and a personal assistant and a chauffeur and so on and so forth, all of that’s going to come off that 633. The expenses are high.”

Littler’s earnings will only get heavier if he makes it to the final of the Worlds again with the winner taking £500,000 and the second-place player, £200,000.

Nicole Kidman explained how she created intimacy with co-star in movie she had to pause filming due to ‘orgasms’

The actress sat down with co-star Harris Dickinson to discuss their on-screen relationship

If you haven’t had your fill of Nicole Kidman talking about her abundance of ‘orgasms’ in her latest film, you’ll be glad to know she’s still got more to share.

Babygirl hasn’t even been released on this side of the pond yet, but most Brits are already well aware of the exhaustion she felt from repeatedly feigning pleasure.

Fans in the UK have to wait a little bit longer to find out what all the fuss is about when it hits cinemas here on 10 January, but our US counterparts have already seen it.

The reviews are already rolling in, with people praising Kidman’s performance alongside Harris Dickinson, 28.

The pair have taken on the leading roles in Halina Reijn’s new flick, which delves into the murky waters of power dynamics and sexuality within a professional setting.

Kidman stars as high-powered CEO Remy, who begins an affair with her much younger intern Samuel (Dickinson) and they act out some pretty kinky stuff.

Her husband Jacob (Antonio Banderas) hadn’t been pleasing her between the sheets and she has never been able to climax with him…which is where Samuel comes in.

The intern shows her exactly what she’s been missing out on for all those years – again and again and again.

So it’s no wonder Kidman had to pause filming to take a break from all the orgasms, as she said it got to a point where she ‘didn’t care if she was never touched again in her life’.

“It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout,” the Australian actress said.

We’ve heard all kinds of details from her in the last few weeks, including how she was left with bruises ‘all over her body’ after shooting the sex scenes.

The Eyes Wide Shut star also dished the dirt on how these intimate moments were filmed, what her husband Keith Urban thinks of them, and how thinking about the shots makes her ‘blush’.

So, after all this hype surrounding Babygirl, people have got pretty big expectations – especially about that milk scene, which was inspired by real-life events.

Thankfully, those who have watched the film have been applauding the ‘easy chemistry’ between Kidman and Dickinson, so the relationship between them is apparently very believable.

Kidman and Dickinson get hot and heavy in Babygirl, which will be released in the UK on 10 January (A24)

And in a new interview with BAFTA, the duo explained how they forged this dynamic between them – and how the rest of the film crew helped, too.

Describing those who work behind-the-scenes as ‘unsung heroes’, Kidman heaped praise on cinematographer Jasper Wolf for his ‘delicate’ approach to filming the sex scenes.

“There was just an enormous amount of trust there,” she said. “So [Wolf] just focuses on what we’re trying to create, and he will dance around that, he will light accordingly. He was just a joy.

“You can be doing all these things, but if you don’t have the camera there in the right way, with the right lighting, with everything, then you’re not going to have it.

“It won’t exist. You may as well be doing stage.”

Dickinson was in firm agreement and explained that ‘even the boom operator’ was instrumental in getting the risqué scenes done right.

“In some of those scenes the crew were reduced to facilitate a more intimate environment,” the Triangle of Sadness star said.

“It felt like there was times where you’re really all on the same energy.”

Kidman then chimed in: “And so there’s times when you feel incredibly vulnerable and exposed and raw.

“But then there’s other parts that are very exciting and hopefully they’re capturing those.”

The Babygirl co-stars both admitted that filming in New York in freezing temperatures was ‘brutal’, but in the end, they reckon it ended up adding to the emotion of certain scenes.

Kidman continued: “It penetrates the performance. You know, you will either be shivering or shaking, or even when we’re outside when smoking a cigarette together.

“And there’s this kind of palpable energy, and then when you have to keep each other warm, even when we were swimming in the pool.

“You have to come together. When you use the environment and you don’t fight [it], I think that really helps the performance.”

She then explained that the pair ‘rehearsed a lot just by talking’ and would raise suggestions for tweaks to the script with Reijn after finding a natural flow between her and Dickinson.

Dickinson added: “The script was changing, like we were feeding back to Halina along the way, and she would sort of try stuff with us and then we would change it and adapt it to what felt right.

“We did long takes. You know, we had scenes that were sometimes six pages, where we had to just do it all the way. And that’s fun, I think.”

Kidman compared their approach to ‘theatre’ performers, suggesting they were able to exercise a bit more creative control over their characters.

Now, there’s just over a week to go until Babygirl lands in the UK, and we can finally see if their extensive efforts paid off.

We’re a quarter of the way through this century, can you believe it?

Do you ever get the urge to stick some of your possessions in a box, bury it and then come back many years later to dig it all up again?

If so, you might want to invest in a time capsule and cross your fingers for good health in the years to come.

We sometimes don’t realise how much the world around us has changed in recent times until we unearth a little pocket of what it used to be like.

For one man who buried his time capsule back in the year 2000, opening it up again 25 years later is a veritable trip down memory lane to what things were like at the turn of the millennium.

One of the people who did this was Dylan Schrader, who posted the contents of his capsule on social media 25 years on from when he first sealed it up.

He explained that he initially intended to bury it but never got round to doing that, and at many points in the past two-and-a-half decades thought about either chucking it away or opening it up but patience won out in the end.

Dylan opened his time capsule after 25 years (Moppet)

Dylan opened his time capsule after 25 years (Moppet)

The first things he pulled out of his time capsule were late 90s pamphlets about AIDS, abstinence, HIV, alcohol and drugs, with the abstinence pamphlet seeming to point the finger of blame for the fall of the Roman Empire towards a population decline caused by a lack of sex.

Also in the capsule were family photos, a floppy disk, an advert for Pokémon themed sweets and an old coin from 1877.

Dylan also found a button from when his mum ran to be on the board of his school along with that staple of the 90s, Pogs.

This is what an Icee cost at Walmart, apparently. Also a note that I wrote to you, the people of the future. Bonus: TI calculator info.

He also included a Walmart receipt from 3 January, 2000, and apparently if you went to the US 25 years ago, you could buy a small slushie for 88 cents or a large one for $1.08.

Presumably the amount it costs for either drink these days is a depressingly higher amount.

Dylan also discovered a tape he’d recorded for his future self, though since the time capsule didn’t come with a tape player he had to put in some effort to find out what message he’d wanted to leave himself.

He later tweeted that: “It starts with reading from a Calvin and Hobbes strip, continues with references to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a poem (?) by me (?), musings on the future, and then into a song by Alanis Morissette.”

The Concept of Tesla’s Airbnb Model

Imagine a future where Tesla vehicles are not just modes of transportation but also mobile accommodations. This vision aligns with the growing trend of peer-to-peer rental services exemplified by AirbnbTesla’s model could allow owners of electric vehicles to rent them out as temporary lodging, turning their cars into comfortable, mobile homes.
