New Orleans mayor says New Years incident is being treated as a ‘terrorist attack’ after at least 10 people are killed

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has shared a statement stating that the New Year’s incident on Bourbon Street is being treated as a terrorist attack.

At around 3AM on New Year’s Day, a pickup truck drove into a crowd in New Orleans’ French Quarter, plowing into revelers celebrating the New Year.

New Orleans’ emergency preparedness agency, NOLA, confirmed it is dealing with a mass casualty incident in the Bourbon Street area, which took place at around 3AM local time.

NOLA said in a statement: “The 8th District is currently working a mass casualty incident involving a vehicle that drove into a large crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street.

“Public safety partners are responding on scene.”

While the exact details of the incident remain under investigation, she confirmed she had been in contact with the White House and Louisiana’s governor.

She asked “for prayers for those who have lost their lives”, and told the public to avoid eight blocks around Bourbon Street where the incident took place.

Police superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick confirmed that 35 people were known to have been taken to local hospitals, though that number is expected to rise.

She also revealed that the man had fired on officers, injuring two of them who are in stable condition, and added that most of the casualties appeared to be locals rather than tourists.

Police described the incident as “intentional behavior” rather than a DUI incident, and another officer said that an improvised explosive device had also been found.

Witnesses claimed to CBS News that a truck had crashed into the crowd at high speed before the driver got out and started firing a weapon, prompting police to return fire.

In footage shared online from the scene, gunfire can be heard in the background as members of the public ran from the area.

The injured have been transported to hospitals nearby, with officials warning that the death toll could potentially rise.

Horrifying simulation shows what happened to Ozzy Osbourne after he bit into a bat a fan threw on stage

The Black Sabbath frontman quickly realized he’d made a huge mistake

A lot of musicians have made reputations for themselves with their on-stage antics, but I don’t think there are many quite as memorable as Ozzy Osbourne biting into a bat.

The historic moment took place in 1982, way before many of us were even born. But whether you’re a fan of Ozzy or not, chances are you’ve still heard about it.

It all went down at a show in Des Moines, Iowa, when Ozzy was performing as lead singer for the heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

During the show, a fan threw what Ozzy at the time thought was a fake rubber bat on to the stage.

Wanting to give his fans a good show, the singer picked up the object and sunk his teeth into it – but as soon as he did, he realized he’d made a huge mistake.

Per Far Out magazine, the rock star recalled: “Immediately […] something felt wrong. Very wrong.”

A horrifying simulation created by YouTuber Zack D. Films helps shed light on exactly what Ozzy went through in the following moments, as it shows a simulated version of the star realizing his mouth has filled up with liquid as he discovered the bat was actually real.

Ozzy recalled: “For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin.”

The simulation shows Ozzy's mouth filling with blood (YouTube/Zack D. Films)

The simulation shows the blood running down Ozzy’s chin before he was taken to the hospital to try and counter any potentially dangerous health impacts.

At the time, the musician initially feared the bat had been alive when it was thrown on to the stage, and that he’d killed it by biting off its head.

Later, however, the person who’d thrown the bat confirmed it was already dead.

Viewers have been left horrified by the simulation retelling the incident, with one writing: “His face of terror when he realized…”

At the hospital, Ozzy received rabies jabs as a precaution, and while he largely seemed to walk away from the incident physically unscathed, the incident quickly became something he’d be associated with for decades to come.

In 1997, the singer told journalist Edward Helmore that the story had followed him ‘every day since 1982’.

“It’s not Ozzy Osbourne the man who’s travelled more miles than an astronaut and sold x billion records. It’s all they’re going to remember!” he said. “When I die it will be OZZY Osbourne THE BAT BITER IS DEAD; BATS CAN NOW LIVE IN PEACE.”

A single mother went into labor prematurely and had to spend over a year in the hospital with her baby, but when she got out, her adult son had done something she never imagined.

I never imagined I would not be able to give my child a better life.

When I got pregnant with Jace, I thought living in my late mother’s old trailer was just temporary. The pregnancy had been a surprise, but I thought I could work hard and move us into an apartment or perhaps a tiny house soon enough. However, that didn’t happen.

The bills piled up, and every time I raised even a bit, I had to spend it on some emergency. But I still worked hard, hoping that Jace would appreciate what I did for him and grow into a great man.

Jace was not the most ambitious person in the world. When he turned 18, I told him it was time to find a job, but he could stay with me until he found his footing. I never wanted to be one of those parents who kicked their kids out. That was not me. Unfortunately, Jace took that as a sign that he could stay forever.

“What? No, that’s impossible. I’m the owner,” I shook my head.

He was 22 and working minimum wage with no extra effort when I accidentally got pregnant again. I had been dating a new man for the first time in a while, and I thought it would go somewhere, but he ran as soon as I told him.

“We can’t afford a new child,” Jace complained when I told him.

“We’ll make do. Babies are blessings, and this is your sibling, Jace. Otherwise, you can move out and start fending for yourself,” I replied, shrugging.

I was honestly heartbroken by his words because I knew he was right. I was much older and worse off than I had been when Jace was born. The world was even more complex, and I felt I would never get out of this hole.

However, my anxiety and concerns went through the roof, affecting my health, and I was hospitalized at the five-month mark when I went into labor. The doctors tried to stop the progress, but the baby was determined to come early, and I was in so much pain and so concerned.

My second son was born and placed in an incubator. He was too premature, and the doctors were not happy. I saw their looks of concern, but none of them wanted to give me bad news because I was still recovering.

I visited my baby in the children’s ward when I got better. There were other premature babies in incubators too, and although I was stupid and knew nothing about medicine, I felt hopeful. I thought if my son were still alive, he would make it.

“Is that him?” Jace asked when he visited us.

“Yes, that’s your brother,” I responded, smiling as I placed my hand on the incubator.

“He’s so tiny. I can’t believe he’s alive,” my son muttered, placing his hand on the machine.

“I know. It’s a miracle,” I said with tears in my eyes. Jace asked more questions about his brother’s condition, and I didn’t have much information to tell him. I didn’t understand most of the terms, but doctors often told me to be patient.

“Are you sure about this? Maybe, it would be more humane to let him go. Is he in pain?” Jace wondered, his brow furrowing.

“I have to do everything I can,” I insisted, my voice cracking. “I have to, just like I did with you. You were healthy, but I had almost nothing when I had you.”

“We don’t have much now. Almost nothing to offer him,” Jace reminded me. Was that a hint of shame I detected in his tone?

“We have each other. That’s much more than I had with you,” I told him, nodding. Jace flipped his head and stared into my eyes for several long seconds. Finally, he nodded.

“You’re right. The bills will not be pretty, but he deserves a shot. What’s his name?” Jace asked, and his tone confused me, but I didn’t have time to analyze anything.

“I haven’t decided, but I was thinking… Luke?”

“That’s perfect,” he said.

Jace left that night, and although things between us had never been sentimental, I felt like my adult son truly cared about his little brother. But I couldn’t be sure, of course.

Unfortunately, things took a turn at the hospital. My baby suffered some complications from being born too soon, and he had to stay longer… and longer… and longer.

Some doctors told me he would not make it through the several surgeries he needed. But Luke survived and healed and continued.

I was in the hospital with my baby for 398 days, and that last month, I saw him thriving despite his complications. Finally, we were discharged, and although my child needed a bunch of medications – possibly for life – he was beautiful and lovely and so worth all the pain of over a year.

I walked out of the hospital with my child and to our trailer, which was not that far from the hospital in our town in Ohio. I couldn’t reach Jace for some reason, but I was not worried. He had been busy the last few months.

When I reached our home, I discovered a new family living there. “Excuse me. I’m Amy. This is my house,” I said, confused, to the man who had opened the door.

“No, we bought this trailer from Jace,” he answered, raising his hands. “I paid him in cash, fair and square.”

“What? No, that’s impossible. I’m the owner of this house.”

I shook my head, thinking Jace had sold my only home and run away with the money. That’s why I couldn’t reach him. Despite all my struggles over the years, I was never homeless. My late mother made sure to leave me the trailer before she passed.

But now, my lazy adult son had taken it from me? It wasn’t fair, and I started to hyperventilate with my baby in my arms.

“Mom!” I heard and turned quickly to see Jace running to me.

“Jace! What’s going on? What did you do? This is our home!” I wailed, which alarmed Luke, and he started crying too. “Hush, hush, hush.”

“Just come with me. You’ll see!” Jace said and guided me by my waist as we walked away.

“Please, tell me what happened while I was away,” I asked, still calming Luke as we strolled.

“Almost a year ago at the hospital, I realized that… I’d been a horrible son to you and the laziest idiot in the world,” Jace began. “I saw your love for me reflected in your love for my brother, and I knew I couldn’t keep being an idiot for the rest of my life.”

“I finally did something. I worked all the extra shifts and weekends I could at the contracting firm. My boss even loves me now. I saved as much as I could. I know you still have medical bills, although the doctors offered you help and pro-bono treatments. But we’ll work on paying those together—”

“Jace, that’s wonderful. But I still don’t understand why you sold the trailer,” I interrupted.

“We can’t live in that trailer anymore, Mom. There was barely any room for us two, and Luke doesn’t deserve to grow up like that… so I saved up and bought us a tiny two-bedroom place nearby. It’s not the best house, and it’ll need some serious repairs. But it’s ours. It has a basement, so I’ll live there. I’m planning on installing a separate door to it, so it’s like an apartment, but we’ll see about that,” Jace revealed, and I couldn’t believe it.

“You bought a house?” I said, stunned. “You bought us a house?”

“I did,” Jace smiled. “Are you proud?”

“I think I’m going to have a heart attack from all this pride,” I replied, smiling.

Jace guided me to the house. It was not fully furnished, but we had beds and a full kitchen. Jace had also bought a second-hand crib for Luke. It was perfect. It was something I thought we would never have, and I couldn’t believe that my son had bought it thinking about us living there together.

“Are you sure? I mean, you used the money from the trailer too, but this is mostly your home,” I said after I set Luke to sleep in his new crib.

Our life was not perfect after that. We had huge bills to repay. We had many repairs around the home and many expenses with Luke, his medicines, and everything he needed. But Jace worked so many hours, and I soon started working too, cleaning houses where I was allowed to bring Luke with me.

We did all we could, and we made it through. At least, I know we would.

  • A loving parent will do everything to raise a child. Amy sacrificed so much to raise her eldest son and would not give up on her second son, even with his medical complications.
  • It is never too early for a child to step up and help his/her parents. At 18, Jace took it upon himself to help provide for his mother and brother, working hard and eventually affording a new home for all of them.

After my husband of twenty years left me, I struggled to find love again at forty-one. Desperate, I joined a dating site and met a charming man named Juan. I took a leap of faith and traveled to Mexico to surprise him, but it turned out to be the worst decision.

My name is Lily, and I am 41 years old. Recently, my husband left me after 20 years of marriage, and I had no idea how to proceed. I married early in my life, so I didn’t have much experience meeting new people.

I couldn’t make new friends, and finding love in your forties is hard. So, I shut myself off and rarely left the house.

In desperation, I registered on a dating site and started chatting with a handsome man from Mexico named Juan. He was so confident and gallant I couldn’t believe it was real. Very soon, our online flirtation was turning into something more.

Things developed quickly, and he began inviting me to visit him in Mexico. At first, I hesitated. What if he wasn’t who he seemed to be? What if I was just setting myself up for more heartbreak?

But the thought of spending my days in the lonely routine I had fallen into pushed me to take a chance. I finally decided to surprise him by arriving unannounced.

I gathered my things for a few weeks’ trip, bought plane tickets, and was ready to go. I was really nervous. I wasn’t sure he would be the same as he was online, but I needed this. It felt like my last chance to be happy.

As I boarded the plane, my heart raced with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. The flight seemed to take forever, and I could only think about Juan.

Would he be as charming in person? Would he be happy to see me? I tried to calm my racing thoughts, reminding myself that this was a step toward a new beginning.

It was difficult for me to reach Juan because it turned out he lived in a small town far from the airport. The journey was long and tiring. After landing, I had to find a taxi to take me to his town.

“Where!? Where!?” The taxi driver kept screaming at me because he couldn’t understand what I was saying. I could feel my frustration rising, so I quickly pulled out my phone and showed him the address.

“See? Right here, I need you to take me to this town. How much?”

“Good, good, let’s go!” he answered, finally understanding.

Traveling had always been a challenge for me. I always seemed to find the worst ways to communicate with people, and my luck was notoriously bad. But this time, I felt like everything was going to turn out well, which gave me the courage to keep going.

The drive felt endless, winding through narrow, unfamiliar roads. I watched the scenery change from the bustling city to quieter, rural landscapes.

The further we drove, the more anxious I became. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was making a huge mistake. But I pushed those thoughts aside, reminding myself that I was here to take a chance on happiness.

Finally, the taxi pulled up to a small apartment building. I paid the driver and stepped out, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves. As I approached the building, I saw Juan just entering his apartment.

“Juan! Surprise!” I called out, running towards him. I couldn’t wait to see his reaction.

He looked very surprised, and for a moment, I thought he was upset to see me. But then he suddenly smiled, and my heart calmed down.

“Oh, it’s you! I wasn’t expecting you! Why didn’t you text me about your visit?”

“I’m sorry, I thought you would be happy to see me, Juan. You look so much better in person!” I said, trying to keep the mood light.

“Yeah! You too… Lucy…” he said, hesitating slightly.

“Lily…” I corrected him, feeling a pang of disappointment. He didn’t even remember my name. Maybe that was the first red flag I should have noticed.

“Lily! Yeah, that’s what I meant. I’m sorry, sometimes American names are a bit confusing to me.”

Maybe he was right, I thought. I shouldn’t be so negative. He was so handsome, and his accent made me want to listen to him more and more.

He invited me into his apartment, and we sat down to talk. The conversation flowed easily; before I knew it, we laughed and shared stories as if we had known each other for years.

As the evening went on, we opened a bottle of wine. I felt my nerves melting away with each sip. Juan was charming and attentive, and I enjoyed his company more than I had expected.

“So, what made you decide to come all the way here?” Juan asked, his eyes twinkling with curiosity.

“I just needed a change,” I admitted. “After my husband left, I felt so lost. Talking to you made me feel hopeful again.”

“I’m glad you came,” he said, his smile warm and reassuring. “It’s nice to meet you in person finally.”

We continued talking late into the night, the wine loosening our tongues and deepening our connection. Eventually, exhaustion caught up with me, and I could barely keep my eyes open.

“I think I need to get some sleep,” I said, stifling a yawn.

“Of course, you must be tired from your trip,” Juan said, guiding me to a spare room. “Sleep well, Lily.”

“Goodnight, Juan,” I said, smiling as I drifted off, feeling content and hopeful for the first time in a long while.

But the next morning would bring a harsh reality I wasn’t prepared for. I woke up on the street, disoriented and confused. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft light over the unfamiliar surroundings.

My head throbbed, and I quickly realized that my phone and money were gone. I was left in my dirty clothes, feeling completely helpless.

Panic set in as I looked around. People were starting their day, but no one seemed to notice me. I tried to speak to passersby, but my voice came out shaky and desperate.

“Please help! Anybody!? Call the police!” I shouted, hoping someone would understand.

But nobody did. They all glanced at me briefly before hurrying on their way, looking at me like I was homeless or worse.

The language barrier was like a wall between me and any potential help. I felt a wave of hopelessness wash over me, and tears began to well up in my eyes.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, a tall man approached me. He had a kind face and wore an apron, suggesting he worked at a nearby restaurant. He spoke to me in Spanish, and his words were rapid and hard to follow. I shook my head, trying to convey that I didn’t understand.

He seemed to realize the problem and switched to broken English. “You… need help?” he asked, his voice gentle.

“Yes, please,” I replied, my voice trembling. “I don’t have my phone or money. I don’t know what to do.”

He nodded, his expression sympathetic. “Come… with me,” he said, gesturing for me to follow him. “I… Miguel.”

“Lily,” I said, trying to manage a weak smile. I followed Miguel to a small, cozy restaurant just down the street. The aroma of freshly baked bread and coffee filled the air, momentarily distracting me from my fear.

Miguel led me to a back room, where he handed me some clothes – a simple dress and a pair of shoes. “You… change,” he said, pointing to a small restroom.

I nodded gratefully. “Thank you, Miguel.”

I changed into clean clothes inside the restroom, feeling a little more human. I splashed some water on my face and looked at my reflection in the mirror. Despite the situation, I felt a flicker of hope. Miguel’s kindness was like a lifeline.

When I came out, Miguel had prepared a plate of food for me. Eggs, toast, and a cup of hot coffee. He pointed to the chair, indicating I should sit and eat. “Eat… you need strength,” he said.

I sat down and started to eat, the food filling the emptiness in my stomach. “Thank you,” I said again, my eyes welling up with gratitude.

Miguel smiled and nodded. “You… use phone after.”

As I finished eating, I couldn’t help but reflect on the events that had brought me here. Juan had seemed so perfect, but now it was clear he wasn’t who he pretended to be.

The realization was painful, but Miguel’s unexpected kindness reminded me that there were still good people in the world.

When I looked out into the hall to see how Miguel worked, I was stunned to see Juan in the distance. He was with a new woman, laughing and chatting as if nothing had happened.

My heart pounded in my chest, and anger surged through me. How could he just move on so easily after what he had done to me?

I rushed back to Miguel, trying to explain what had happened. “Miguel, that man, Juan! He’s the one who robbed me! We need to call the police!” I said, my words tumbling out in a frantic rush.

Miguel looked confused, not fully understanding my English. I took a deep breath and tried again, speaking slowly and gesturing towards Juan.

“He stole my money and phone.”

Miguel’s face showed he still didn’t quite understand, but he nodded and looked concerned. I realized I needed to be clearer.

I grabbed a napkin and quickly drew a crude picture of a phone and a dollar sign, then crossed them out. “Juan took these from me,” I said, pointing to the drawing, then to Juan.

Miguel’s eyes widened in realization. He looked at Juan, then back at me. “Police?” he asked, mimicking holding a phone.

“Yes, but wait,” I said, an idea forming in my mind. “Can I borrow a waitress’s uniform?”

Miguel looked puzzled but nodded. He quickly fetched a uniform and handed it to me. I rushed to the restroom to change, my heart racing with both fear and determination.

Once I was dressed, I took a deep breath and adjusted the uniform. I needed to get that phone back.

I walked out into the hall, trying to blend in with the other staff. My eyes were locked on Juan and the new woman he was with. They were engrossed in their conversation, oblivious to my presence. I approached their table, my hands shaking slightly.

“Excuse me, sir,” I said, using the most professional tone I could muster. “You dropped this earlier.” I handed Juan a napkin, hoping he would be distracted enough not to recognize me right away.

Juan looked up, mildly surprised. As he took the napkin, I quickly reached for his phone lying on the table. I grabbed it and hurried back to Miguel, my heart pounding in my chest.

Miguel looked confused as I thrust the phone into his hands. “Look at the messages,” I said, opening the chat between Juan and me.

“And there are dozens of other women, too.”

Miguel scrolled through the messages, his eyes widening in shock. He looked at me, then back at Juan, who was still laughing with the woman.

Miguel’s expression hardened with understanding and anger. He nodded and pulled out his phone to call the police.

Juan’s face went from confident to confused to panicked in a matter of seconds. The police escorted him out of the restaurant, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

Miguel turned to me with a look of concern and kindness. “You… okay?” he asked.

I nodded, tears of relief and gratitude filling my eyes. “Thank you, Miguel. You believed me and helped me. I don’t know how to repay you.”

Miguel smiled gently. “Good people help each other. You find a new start now.”

I realized that in this crazy journey, I had found someone who truly cared. Miguel’s kindness and support gave me the strength to face a difficult situation and become stronger. As I stood there, I felt a sense of hope for the future. I wasn’t alone anymore, and that made all the difference.

Filming love scenes can be one of the most difficult parts of an actor’s job, because while they may appear intimate on-screen, the reality is anything but.

From being surrounded by a crew watching your every move to having to wear modesty patches over the crucial areas, sex scenes can be pretty unsexy behind the cameras.

Scarlett, 40, has opened up on one such scene that was so “bizarre” that Joaquin, 50, ended up leaving the set.

Speaking to hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2022, Scarlett opened up about the sex scene the pair filmed on the 2013 movie Her.

She and Joaquin had starred in the Spike Jonze-directed sci-fi romance movie, which is set in a near-future LA, as a lonely divorced man who falls for his AI assistant.

Scarlett only appears in the movie as the voice of the character, but the film does include a steamy phone sex session between her character Samantha and Joaquin’s character Theodore.

She revealed on the podcast that Joaquin had already filmed his part of the scene but as Scarlett’s part only featured her voice, he would need to join her in the recording studio while she recorded hers.

She explained: “Joaquin comes in, we try to get through one take, and he was, like, losing it.

“He was like, angry … He had already done [the scene], he had done it in person, and now he was with me, in this weird theater, I’m in this box and [Joaquin] is staring at me, the lights are low, and like, Spike is there. It was so bizarre.

“Joaquin was so upset about it, he left the studio. He needed a break.”

Scarlett revealed that she understood his feelings as looking back on the experience gives her “panic” too.

“You don’t want to hear your voice, ever,” she revealed. “You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having an orgasm.

You definitely don’t want to hear what you sound like having a fake orgasm – ew. It’s so gross.”

Yeah, that does sound pretty uncomfortable, to be fair.

Despite the filming of that scene being pretty painful, the movie did well overall, having a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95 percent.

Seven Grandchildren: Henry’s Expanding Family

Henry is a proud grandfather of seven — India, Ace, Lulu, Jules, Gus, Francis Joan, and the newest addition, recently welcomed by his son Max and daughter-in-law Jessica Barben.

While the baby’s name hasn’t been revealed yet, Jessica offered a heartfelt glimpse on her Instagram stories, sharing a tender moment of skin-to-skin bonding as she cradled her newborn.

In an interview, the “Happy Days” actor warmly spoke about the joy and fulfillment he finds in being a grandfather.

“It is different, completely different than being a parent, but it is filled with the same emotion. We now have six and three-quarters grandchildren. Every one of them is different. You have to approach each one completely differently,” said the family man.
House Rules: Maintaining Harmony and Respect in the Winkler Home

Despite their unique personalities, Henry keeps consistent house rules when his grandkids come for a visit. The father of three shared that the rules in his house, although there are only a few, remain the same.

“When the youngest granddaughter is sleeping, there is no fighting, there is no yelling. They are in charge of their friends to keep it down. No matter what age they are, from 14 to 7, they have to clear their dish,” the New York native explained.

Max’s 2-year-old daughter, Francis, also brings joy to the family. In one sweet moment captured, Henry smiled warmly at her while she played in the bathtub.

Another photo showed Francis comfortably seated in a cozy chair, holding a small ball as she interacted with the family dog, both appearing curious and engaged.

Another image displayed the youngest family member enjoying a sunny day outside, splashing around in a kiddie pool while wearing an orange shirt.

In a playful scene indoors, she was seen standing by a pet crate, watching closely as another family member plays inside, showcasing her curious and spirited nature.

Transitioning to another part of the family, Jed’s daughters also share a close bond with their award-winning famous grandfather.

In addition to spending quality time with his grandkids in person, Henry also bonds with them through TikTok, a platform he has embraced with enthusiasm.

During a 2023 appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the star also shared another way he connects with his grandkids—through music. He creates playful fruit-themed songs, especially for his youngest, Francis, singing about bananas, strawberries, and apples. He revealed that performing these songs over FaceTime is a “terrific connector” for her.

Henry Winkler’s life is a blend of professional success and personal joy. While he remains an iconic figure in Hollywood, it’s clear that his role as a grandfather brings him immense fulfillment.

From setting house rules and creating TikToks with his grandchildren to singing playful songs that spark joy, Henry demonstrates how he cherishes every moment with his family.

Revelers celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street in New Orleans were mown down by a man in a pick-up truck who went past the barricades to “intentionally” drive into the crowd.

The man exchanged gunfire with police after getting out of the vehicle, injuring two officers who were later revealed to be in a stable condition, before being shot dead by law enforcement.

The suspect was preliminarily named by NBC News as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar and was confirmed to have been shot dead by police.

The FBI also released a statement confirming that the suspect – a US citizen from Texas – had an ISIS flag in his possession.

It added that Jabbar was driving a Ford pick-up truck “which appears to have been rented” and that the agency is working to confirm how he came into possession of the vehicle.

It continued: “An ISIS flag was located in the vehicle and the FBI is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organisations.”

It added that weapons and a potential IED (improvised explosive device) were also located in the vehicle, and that “other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter.”

“The FBI’s Special Agent Bomb Technicians are working with our law enforcement partners to determine if any of these devices are viable and they will work to render those devices safe,” it concluded.

US President Joe Biden shared a statement after the tragedy, saying he is “grateful for the brave and swift response of local law enforcement in preventing even greater death and injury”.

He added that he has directed his team to “ensure every resource is available” as officials work to get to the bottom of the situation and “to ensure that there is no remaining threat of any kind.”

The statement continues: “My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities.”

Earlier in the day, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell shared a statement revealing that the incident on Bourbon Street is being treated as a terrorist attack.

She confirmed she had been in contact with the White House and Louisiana’s governor, and asked “for prayers for those who have lost their lives”, and told the public to avoid eight blocks around Bourbon Street where the incident took place.

Police described the incident as “intentional behavior” rather than a DUI incident.

Special agent Althea Duncan, who has taken over the case on behalf of the FBI, appeared to contradict Cantrell’s statement, telling reporters: “This is not a terrorist event.”

She added that “improvised explosive devices” were found on the scene, and are working to find out if they are “viable”, stressing again for people to avoid the area “until we can figure out what is going on”.

It was also confirmed that the suspect had been killed in a shootout with the police, but investigators were still working to establish a motive.

The Swiss-born New York socialite was well-known for her cat-like features, earning her the nickname.

According to Paris Match, Wildenstein died in a Parisian palace on Tuesday, with the outlet claiming she had suffered a pulmonary embolism.

Born born Jocelyne Périsset, she married billionaire art dealer Alec Wildenstein in 1978, and their subsequent divorce in 1999 was widely publicized.

She reportedly received $2.5 billion in the divorce, as well as $100 million per yer for the following 13 years as part of the settlement, but went on to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2018, claiming she had nothing left in her bank account.

As well as her extravagant lifestyle, Wildenstein was known for her cosmetic surgery, having had a first eye lift in the late 1970s, with some suspecting that she wanted her eyes to resemble those of a lynx, which she’d kept as a pet.

While she had admitted to having cosmetic surgery, she claimed it was nowhere near as much as was reported.

AFP shared a statement, saying: “Her partner Lloyd Klein is saddened to announce the death of Jocelyn Wildenstein in Paris.”

Wildenstein was last seen on December 18 in Paris with Klein, where she smiled at onlookers as she stepped out in a fur jacket, leggings, and boots.

The socialite, who had over a million followers on Instagram, described herself as an art dealer.

Wildenstein had previously denied having as much surgery as many believed, telling the Daily Mail in 2018: “No, especially when we look back at my pictures – I think of course I am maybe more beautiful [back then].

“When we are young there’s a certain freshness we lose with the years. But you still find the same eyes, same high cheeks, or same nose. I think I was more pretty.”

Wildenstein’s fiancé Lloyd Klein, added his opinions, stating: “I don’t understand the whole press and the Catwoman thing because [she has] always looked like that. She never really did anything to change her face. I have pictures from 16 years old where she looks exactly the same as today.”

In a recent interview with The Sun, Wildenstein addressed longstanding rumors, once again claiming she’s never gone under the knife.

“I haven’t had plastic surgery. I am scared of what can happen, and I don’t like to have something heavy. Sometimes it is a bit heavy and terrible,” she stated.

Tragedy struck on October 3 when Storm De Beul, a content creator from Belgium, lost his life while hiking alone in the Swedish wilderness.

The 22-year-old – who went by StormOutdoorsy on YouTube – was trekking through the remote Jokkmokk region and had set up camp when the snowstorm hit, Daily Mail reported.

He reportedly contacted emergency services during the blizzard, saying he was wounded and needed help, however, medics were unable to reach him until the next day due to severe weather conditions, per Belgian news outlet 7sur7.

De Beul amassed over 9.58K subscribers on his channel, where he regularly posted content of him camping in remote locations.

He recorded several heartfelt messages to his loved ones during his journey. In one video sent to a friend, he showed how snow had filled his shoes and backpack. “Tonight, it’s going to get worse. Jesus Christ,” he reportedly added.

De Beul also shared a separate message to his grandmother, telling her that it was “snowing heavily” in the area and adding: “But don’t worry, I’ll survive, you know.” Sadly, the YouTuber was discovered dead outside of his tent.

De Beul’s bereaved parents, Bout and Elisabeth, have spoken to Belgian media about their son’s tragedy and questioned why he abandoned his shelter.

“Trees were uprooted that night,” the heartbroken mom said. “Maybe his tent also blew away and he had no choice but to start walking. But it was -6C, and because of the storm, it even felt like -18C. His feet and lower legs were frozen…His hands weren’t, he might still have had his hand warmers with him.”

Elisabeth revealed that her son had a broken nose when he was found, suggesting he had fallen. “He must have suffered for a long time and died alone. I keep imagining his last moments. It devastates me,” she added.

The young adventurer’s father has vowed to return to the place where his son died once the snow has thawed in the spring.

He also hopes to retrieve his son’s belongings, which include videos of his final days. “His videos are a priceless legacy for us,” he told 7sur7.

“But now his camera is there, somewhere in the snow, full of images from his very last trek. I would love nothing more than to get it back,” he continued. “Imagine if his camera and memory card were still there. I know the chances are slim, but I have to try.”

Paying tribute to his beloved son, his father added: “Storm was someone who had trouble connecting with people. He really liked being alone.”

“Since he had a lot of money, he regularly went on adventures in nature. That made him really happy. There, he could choose his own path, literally and figuratively,” he concluded.

Jocelyn Wildenstein passed away while in Paris with her long-term partner Lloyd Klein

Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein has died at the age of 84, her partner Lloyd Klein has confirmed.

The 57-year-old French fashion designer told People that she passed away in her sleep while taking a nap on New Year’s Eve (December 31) in Paris.

In a statement sent to AFP, Klein said: “It is with heavy heart and with great sadness that Mr Lloyd Klein announces the unexpected death of his beloved fiancée and longtime companion Jocelyne Wildenstein.”

The statement continued: “Mrs Wildenstein died peacefully in her sleep in the late afternoon of December 31st, 2024 in her… suite in Paris where the couple had taken temporary residence since August of 2024.”

Klein said he had tried to wake Wildenstein from a nap so she could get ready for New Year’s Eve dinner, but she was sadly unresponsive.

Following her passing, he told People: “We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed.”

When asked about Wildenstein’s cause of death, the 57-year-old said: “Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain.

“And we were having a nap and when I wake up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead.”

“It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad,” Klein added. “It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold.”

Klein said Wildenstein’s condition, something her grandmother also had, did not affect their holidays as her health had been ‘perfect’ just days before.

“We were at the Ritz two days ago. We were having dinner,” he said. “Before that, we had come for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good, everything was good.”

Wildenstein, of New York, shot to fame following her 1997 split from ex-husband and art dealer Alec Wildenstein – who she’d been with for 20 years and shared two children with.

Their divorce was finalized two years later and broke headlines for being the most expensive in history at the time, landing her a staggering $2.5 billion – but she didn’t get it all in one go.

The courts ruled that Wildenstein would receive $100 million a year, but after Alec died in 2008 his family made claim to his riches.

Although she was still receiving her share of the divorce settlement – that was until 2015 when Alec’s family reportedly cut her off.

Three years later, she filed for bankruptcy.

Wildenstein, nee Périsset, was born in Lausanne, Switzerland back in 1940, and despite being known for her drastic use of plastic surgery – becoming known as the ‘Catwoman’ for her feline appearance – she claimed she had never gone under the knife.

To celebrate her daughter’s birthday in August last year, the socialite posted an unexpected throwback photo which revealed what her face used to look like.

The caption read: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter Diane Wildenstein #oljogi #jocelynwildenstein.”

The photo depicts her as a blonde bombshell, one that could be mistaken for a Bond girl, as she cradles her daughter Diane – who is now 45 years old.

While last year in June, Wildenstein took to Instagram to share a picture of her when she was a teenager, and in the caption took aim at people ‘photoshopping’ her photos.

She wrote: “#tbt that’s me #jocelynwildenstein at ballet classes in Switzerland at 15 years old.

“So maybe you should stop speculating on my image! Press stop! Stop please and stop photoshopping my images because you are all [100 percent] wrong.

“Stop posting fake images of me.”
