Fans Select V of BTS & Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’ as This Week’s Top New Music in All-Genre Poll

BTS‘ V and the late Bing Crosby‘s duet version of “White Christmas” has topped this week’s new music poll, which highlights releases from artists across a variety of genres.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Dec. 6) on Billboard, naming the new rendition of the holiday classic their favorite new music release of the past week.

“White Christmas” secured nearly 51% of the vote, outpacing new releases from ROSÉ (rosie), TWICE (Strategy), Bad Bunny (“EL CLÚB”), Khalid and Normani (“Personal”), and more.

In the festive collaboration, V and Crosby trade lines, harmonizing on the iconic lyrics: “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas/ With every Christmas card I write/ May your days be merry and bright/ And may all your Christmases be white.”

“I’m so grateful to have had the chance to be featured in a song with my all-time favorite jazz artist, Bing Crosby,” V previously said of the track in a statement. “I grew up listening to his song ‘It’s Been a Long, Long Time’ countless times a day, and I feel incredibly fortunate and honored to have sung along on ‘White Christmas’ with the voice of someone I consider an idol.”

“Being a huge fan of his, I sang with the utmost sincerity and admiration for him,” continued the superstar, who previously covered “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” “I hope many people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed singing it. Lastly, I wish a lovely holiday season to everyone listening to the song.”

Crosby passed away in 1977. His daughter, Mary Crosby, expressed her excitement about her father’s new posthumous collaboration, saying, “As a family, we are thrilled to have V and Dad singing together on this ultimate Christmas song. Their voices blend beautifully, capturing the holiday spirit in the best possible way.”

The Christmas classic, written by Irving Berlin in just 18 minutes, remains the best-selling song of all time, with over 50 million copies sold worldwide, according to Guinness World Records. “White Christmas” also won the Oscar for best original song in the 1942 musical Holiday Inn and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1974.

Trailing closely behind V and Crosby in this week’s poll is BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ, whose debut solo album, rosie, garnered almost 48% of the vote. The 12 tracks on the set include the hit single “APT.” with Bruno Mars, which has held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 for six consecutive weeks, as well as “Number One Girl.”

"Tonight's story is about a curious little child who sees things differently"

St. Vincent to appear on ‘CBeebies Bedtime Stories’

“Tonight’s story is about a curious little child who sees things differently.”

St. Vincent on 'CBeebies Bedtime Stories'

St. Vincent is set to read a children’s bedtime story on CBeebies this evening (November 29); you can watch a clip below.

The singer-songwriter (real name Annie Clark) will appear on today’s episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories, where she’ll deliver a reading of Henri And The Machine by Isabelle Marinov and Olga Shtonda.

Per a press release, the book is “a charming reflection on learning to appreciate art and its boundless creativity. It tells the story of a boy who asks, ‘What’s the point of art?’ when his class is taken on a school trip to the local art gallery.”

Ahead of tonight’s Bedtime Story, St. Vincent has posted a preview video on her official social media channels. “Hi, I’m St. Vincent, but my real name is Annie,” she tells viewers. “And I’m a musician.”

She continues: “I love writing songs because it gives me a chance to really think about the world around me. And it also means that I get to share my thoughts and my feelings in the songs that I write.

“We all see things a little differently, and sharing how we see the world is how we make paintings, drawings, and songs. It’s how we create art.”

Clark added, “So tonight’s story is about a curious little child who sees things differently, too.” You can watch the video in the post above.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories airs each weekday at 6:50pm GMT on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer; tune in here.

An official synopsis of Henri And The Machine reads: “What’s the point of art? This is the question Henri asks himself when his class is taken on a school trip to the local art gallery. Who wants pictures of old soup cans or melting watches?

“But when he encounters a painting with the most perfect blue, it creates a beautiful feeling. It’s blueberries, oceans, summer skies, and butterflies all rolled into one. And then he wanders into a room with a chair and a sign that reads, ‘Is this really a chair?’ Henri decides to test it out, unleashing an explosion of creativity! Finally, Henri understands what art is all about.”

Other artists to have previously read books on CBeebies Bedtime Stories include Billy Eilish, Dave Grohl, Harry Styles, Elton John, Josh Homme, Jack Black, Phoebe Bridgers, and IDLES’ Joe Talbot.

St. Vincent released her seventh and latest studio album, ‘All Born Screaming’, this April. She recently shared a Spanish-language version of the record titled ‘Todos Nacen Gritando’.

Speaking to NME about the latter project earlier this month, the musician explained: “It was a beautiful exercise and an attempt to offer a little thanks to Spanish-language fans who have met me in my native tongue for seven records.”

When asked how she overcame certain words or phrases that couldn’t be translated, Clark replied, “As a songwriter, the song can have the best groove, the production can be so cool, and singing is great. But if there’s one lyric that’s corny and it’s like, ‘I’m out’.

“I can’t suspend my disbelief. I’m like, ‘Ugh, I was almost there.’ I’m always like, ‘That was a little trite’, or ‘That’s a cliche; they shouldn’t have said that’. This happens in English.”

She added, “Whereas when I’m listening to songs in Spanish, I don’t have the same scrutiny. I’m just enjoying music. It’s such a portal to joy for me—to enjoy it and react to the sound.”

St. Vincent went on to say that she had “no idea” about the sound of her next album: “You always think, ‘OK, the next thing I do will be the best thing I do’. I have to keep going. It has to get deeper. More human, more emotional, better songs. That’s my optimism right there.”

The singer-songwriter toured in the UK, Ireland, and Europe last month and played a one-off show at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall over the summer.

Bryar was the band's longest-tenured drummer, performing with them from 2004 until his departure in 2010

Bob Bryar, former My Chemical Romance drummer, has died aged 44

Bryar was the band’s longest-tenured drummer, performing with them from 2004 until his departure in 2010

Bob Bryar, the former drummer for My Chemical Romance, has died aged 44.

He was found dead in his home in Tennessee on Tuesday (November 26) after last being seen alive on November 4, per TMZ.

The cause of death is not immediately known, but authorities have ruled out foul play, with his possessions, including musical equipment and weapons, untouched.

Bryar was My Chemical Romance’s longest-tenured drummer, performing with the band from 2004 until his departure in 2010.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1979, he began playing drums at a young age in his school’s marching bands. Following his graduation from high school, he studied sound engineering at the University of Florida.

He initially began working as a sound engineer for The Used and Thrice. He struck up a friendship with My Chemical Romance during their tour with the former in 2004, and soon after became their drummer for their tour that year in Japan, replacing previous drummer Matt Pelissier.

Though his involvement with the band came after the release of their second album, ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’, he appeared in all the music videos and promotional material for it.

His contributions can be heard on My Chemical Romance’s seminal 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’, the band’s most commercially and critically successful record. It debuted at number two in the United States on the Billboard 200, as well as on the UK Albums Chart.

Upon its release, NME liked the album to Green Day‘s ‘American Idiot’, writing that “it’s a piece of work that will challenge every preconception you ever had about the people who made it.” It was also featured as number 10 in NME‘s 50 Best Albums of 2006.

Bryar was involved in the writing process for the band’s follow-up record, 2010’s ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys‘, but left the band shortly before the album’s release.

In a statement at the time, guitarist Frank Iero wrote on the band’s blog: “As of four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.”

In the subsequent years, Bryar continued to play drums before announcing his retirement from music in 2014 to become a real estate agent.

He was an active supporter of various dog rescue charities. In 2022, he announced he would be selling his original ‘Black Parade’ uniform and using money from the sale to help “abandoned and sheltered animals in areas of Florida and South Carolina that are affected by Hurricane Ian.”.

Prior to that, he sold a drum kit—used during some of My Chemical Romance’s most formative moments—to raise funds for the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Tennessee.

ADOR publicly demands apology from Belift Lab to NewJeans’ Hanni

newjeans hanni belift apology

ADOR has issued a statement requesting an apology from fellow HYBE sub-label Belift Lab to NewJeans member Hanni.

On November 28, ADOR released a statement on its official stance regarding an alleged incident that took place between NewJeans member Hanni and a manager from Belift Lab.

Hanni claimed earlier this year that a manager had told another K-pop group to “ignore” her when they crossed paths at HYBE amid an ongoing feud between ex-ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and the parent company. Belift Lab denied the allegations in a statement last month.

“While ADOR has taken a cautious approach to avoid unnecessary disputes that could escalate into controversies for our artist, we now feel compelled to clarify our position as the matter remains unresolved,” said the label per Korea Times.

“Belift Lab’s claims differ completely from Hanni’s account,” it continued, adding that it was “unfair” and “unnecessarily harsh” to expect the singer to recount the incident in detail. “We fully trust our artist’s words and deeply regret the harm Hanni has experienced.”

ADOR added: “We urge Belift Lab to approach this matter with respect and to demonstrate sincerity to ensure this issue does not continue to cause unnecessary controversy.”

This comes amid an escalation of tensions between the members of NewJeans and ADOR two weeks ago, when the group issued a notice demanding the agency resolve several outstanding grievances. NewJeans expressed their intention to terminate their contracts with ADOR if the issues were not resolved.

While they did not make specific contents in the notice public, the girl group and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin previously called out HYBE’s alleged downplaying of the group’s achievements and undermining their success, as well as its lack of due process investigating Hanni’s claims.

Earlier this week, Min also filed an official criminal complaint against two HYBE PR executives for “breach of duty” regarding their promotion of NewJeans.

ADOR refutes NewJeans statement, claims contract with the group “remains in full effect”

The girl group announced their departure from the label in a press conference yesterday

K-pop label ADOR has refuted a recent statement by girl group NewJeans, claiming that their contract with the K-pop act has not been terminated.

Yesterday (November 28), NewJeans held an emergency press conference announcing their departure from their label, ADOR. The news came two weeks after the group issued a legal notice to the agency, stating that they would terminate their contracts if ADOR did not resolve alleged breaches of their contracts.

ADOR has since sent out a press release stating that their contract with NewJeans is still in effect. “We regret that the press conference regarding the termination of the exclusive contract was planned and conducted without sufficient review, prior to receiving a response to the legal notice,” said the agency.

The label added that it “has not violated the terms of the agreement” and that a “unilateral claim of a breach of trust does not constitute valid grounds for terminating the contract”.

“The exclusive agreement between ADOR and the NewJeans members remains in full effect,” said the agency, which also requested for the group to continue collaborating with it on their upcoming activities.

Around the same time, NewJeans also released a document from ADOR, which had addressed the girl group’s legal notice to the company earlier this month. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the label sent the letter an hour after the group called for an emergency press conference last night.

In the letter, ADOR shared the steps it had taken to address the demands NewJeans outlined in their original legal notice. These include getting an apology from the Belift Lab manager who allegedly told another group to “ignore” member Hanni, resolving a dispute with one of their music video directors and reinstating former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, among others.

In response, the label wrote that some of the group’s demands were “too abstract or overly broad”, and also went beyond its authority and legal obligations. However, it said that ADOR would “take all possible measures” to address NewJeans’ needs.

“We are willing to share progress updates regularly if necessary, and we hope to maintain communication with the artists,” it said, claiming the group are “refusing to discuss plans for their activities next year”.

ADOR then shared that they have not forced the members to attend meetings “out of respect for them”, but are committed to support the group in their activities.

DEAN releases new two-song project ‘3:33’

It’s the singer’s first release under his new partnership with Island Records

K-R&B singer-songwriter Dean has released a new project titled ‘3:33’ and a visual for the track ‘NASA’.

Today (November 29), DEAN dropped his new two-song project ‘3:33’, led by the single ‘NASA’ featuring French producer FKJ. Its accompanying visual features the singer performing the song with FKJ on the piano as ballet dancers twirl around them.

Also part of the release is the track ‘Ctrl’, which the singer first premiered live at Hypefest 2024 in Hong Kong earlier this month. According to a press release, DEAN and FKJ brought ‘3:33’ to life during sessions in Korea and Japan. “This project is alerting a signal from the future self to the current me,” he said.

‘3:33’ is DEAN’s first release under his new partnership with Island Records and his first new solo music in a year, after last November’s ‘Die 4 You’. He also teamed up with South Korean singer-songwriter BIBI on the song ‘Burn It’ earlier this month.

DEAN debuted as a singer back in 2015 with several singles, notably working with artists like Eric Bellinger, Anderson Paak, Zico, and more. He later gained significant popularity with his 2016 debut EP, ‘130 Mood: TRBL’.

Prior to his debut and early in his career, DEAN wrote music for several popular K-pop groups, including EXO, VIXX, and Block B. He has also collaborated with artists like Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, Heize, and IU.

After starting over as a trio, Eunha, SinB and Umji are now firmly in charge of their own futures. The K-pop idols tell NME about their new mini-album ‘Voyage,’ how challenges can be blessings in disguise and tease the return of GFRIEND

VIVIZ on K-pop idol life: “This job is about music and performances, but at the core, there are people”

After starting over as a trio, Eunha, SinB, and Umji are now firmly in charge of their own futures. The K-pop idols tell NME about their new mini-album ‘Voyage,’ how challenges can be blessings in disguise and tease the return of GFRIEND

Almost a decade ago, in September 2015, then-rookie girl group GFRIEND went viral because of a misfortune. While performing their single ‘Me Gustas Tu’ under a heavy rainstorm, multiple members repeatedly slipped and even fell on the wet stage. But the setback turned out to be a blessing: Girl gained global attention for their resilience, getting back up time and time again, diligently finishing the performance to roaring applause.

The song would go on to become their breakout hit, and from then on, the sextet became a household name in K-pop—that is, until they suddenly left their label in 2021 and stopped releasing music. However, that “end,” as the group’s leader described it at the time, also came with a windfall. The year after, three members of GFRIEND—Eunha, SinB, and Umji—reunited and embarked on a new journey together as power trio VIVIZ.

“You never know, mistakes can also turn into opportunities; it’s all about the journey that you take,” says Umji over a video call with NME. It’s a fitting adage for the trio, who have since taken on a series of new challenges. Among them are a notable third place on season two of South Korean reality TV competition Queendom, holding their first world tour and releasing five mini-albums, including the latest, ‘Voyage’, which came out earlier this month.

“We debuted [as friends] when we were very young, so it felt like we were solely following the company’s concept, and that fit the group at the time,” says SinB, who is seated on Umji’s right side. “But as VIVIZ, it feels like we are doing everything from one to 10.” Upon hearing that statement, Eunha, who is on the opposite side, chimes in. “Make that one to nine; we have to give one for the company,” she jokes, prompting laughs from the whole room.

While VIVIZ have the refreshing energy of newcomers, they are also seasoned veterans with nearly a decade of experience under their belts. Working together for such a long time brings forward a unique connection, even if it doesn’t show at first sight. When looking back on their debut with Girlfriend, they all agree that not only have they matured, but the K-pop industry has also changed substantially.

“This job, like many others, is about human relations. It is about music and performances and singing, but at the core, there are people,” says Umji. “You gain experience on how to problem-solve and how to care for one another. And when some things hurt, how do you deal with that? How do you grow up and move forward during those times?”

To SinB, starting over as VIVIZ has been the biggest challenge so far, one that they are still “in the process of overcoming.” Though she believes that, as more and more people get to know about them, VIVIZ are slowly proving themselves. “VIVIZ is so important and so precious to us. It is our pursuit,” she says defiantly.

At the same time, though, the trio still holds their memories of GFRIEND close—and, as recently announced, they will soon be reuniting with their old bandmates for the group’s tenth anniversary next year. “We just want to show that we’ve been working hard, discussing and planning this,” Eunha hints. Even though there’s not much the trio can “publicly talk about” during their chat with NME, they tell fans to “look forward to it.”.

VIVIZ hold a symbiotic relationship with their label, BPM Entertainment, and are involved in every detail of their projects and records. “Normally, they ask us what kind of styles we want to try,” explains SinB. “Even if we don’t have a specific concept in mind, we have discussions and build it up from there, because they cater [to anything] we have in mind.”

“Even if we have a concept that we want to pursue, it’s important that we first ask the company, ‘Hey, what kind of stuff do you think we should try?’” adds Umji. “While we value our own perspective, we love to have some outside input. We’re open to a lot of stuff, and we want to really broaden our horizons as a group.”

For their latest single, the cheeky ‘Shhh!’, it was their agency that first suggested looking into Latin pop before presenting a variety of potential songs for the trio to run through. “We considered the recording and the performance and how we could appropriately do it to convey Latin pop but make it VIVIZ’s style,” says Umji.

‘Voyage’ stands as the culmination of this teamwork, with Umji saying that the level of perfection and details they had to look into was “quite high.” “That’s the thing about us,” she continues, “Some people are like, ‘As long as my part is good, it’s going to be fine.’ However, we give honest feedback [to each other] and we don’t only look at the final product but at the big picture. This process makes a difference.”

Sitting right in the middle of the table and taking the lead on much of the conversation, Umji is the glue between her bandmates. While SinB is known for her iconic poker face and skilled dance moves, Eunha is an arresting vocalist with an extra-sweet personality. Umji, though, is a mix of both—or what fans would call an “all-rounder”—a talented dancer and a compelling singer, a cutie pie at one moment and a mischievous instigator on another.

Umji was also a late bloomer when it came to creative work—SinB and Eunha had started to co-write songs during their time as members of GFRIEND—but she has since grown into her own and notably was the first to place credits in VIVIZ’s discography. On their latest mini-album, Umji’s the sole lyricist on two of the project’s five songs: ‘Hypnotized’ and ‘Love & Tears’, the latter of which she also co-composed.

“While I was writing [‘Love & Tears’], I was exhausted because I wanted to do really well. So, I realised I needed to refresh myself, and I worked on ‘Hypnotize’ to take my mind off of it,” she reveals. “It felt like a fresh breeze. People say to me, like, ‘It must have been tough to work on both tracks at the same time,’ but it works way better, and it was actually easier.”

Eunha explains that the lyrics for their songs are chosen through a blind test among the members, recalling how Umji was curiously quiet when they unknowingly picked her hard-wrought creations. “[Me and SinB] were like, ‘Why would she be so silent?’ It turns out both the lyrics we liked were written by Umji,” she says. “I just want to emphasize how great she is.”

“I swear, that was one of my best moments for this year, really,” Umji exclaims. “I was quiet, but my heart was like boom,” she says, mimicking fireworks with her hands.

This instance is just one of many that attest to VIVIZ’s unfailing synergy and why they continue to blossom in an industry as fast-paced as K-pop. “Working as a trio has a great charm; it’s like the best of both solo and group,” Umji says. “If you listen to our music, you really feel the chemistry. If you watch our performances, you see the teamwork. But we’re also highlighting the individual characteristics of all of us. I just love it.”

Noel Gallagher says Oasis reunion shows “won’t be as raucous as back in the day”

Noel Gallagher says Oasis reunion shows “won’t be as raucous as back in the day”

“There won’t be any fallout; there won’t be any fighting.”

Noel Gallagher has claimed that the 2025 Oasis reunion shows will not be “as raucous as back in the day.”.

The Britpop legends revealed their highly-awaited return to the stage earlier this year, announcing a string of huge stadium gigs in the UK and Ireland to take place next summer. That was then followed by the announcement of dates in North America, South America, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.

Noel was asked about the shows while attending the ‘Zoë Law: Legends’ exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London on Thursday (November 28), specifically whether he believed he and brother Liam would behave as wildly as they did in their ‘90s heyday.

“No, it won’t be as raucous as back in the day, because we’re on the wrong side of 50 now, so we’re too old,” he said (via The Sun).

“We’re too old to give a shit now, so there won’t be any fallouts; there won’t be any fighting. It’s a lap of honour for the band.”

Following the revelation that they’d be returning, Oasis ruled out a headline performance at Glastonbury 2025 and said they won’t be appearing at any other festivals next summer. Liam and Noel have also shot down rumours of a return to Knebworth in 2026 too.

The band have announced that Cage The Elephant will be serving as opening support on their North American leg while former Verve frontman and soloist Richard Ashcroft and Cast will be joining the Mancunian icons on their UK and Ireland dates.

In other news, Liam recently went back on his claims that the band is currently recording a new album, telling fans “it was a laugh.”.

He’d been teasing a potential new LP since September, when one fan asked, “Is it true that Oasis will have a new album???” before Liam replied, “Yep, it’s already finished.” He also responded to a fan asking if a new record was “in the air,” to which he said, “It’s in the bag, mate, fuck the air.”.

Then, earlier this month, he told fans on Twitter/X that he was “blown away” by the material Noel had written for the record. A comment he made back in April also resurfaced after the comeback announcement, in which he suggested Oasis would be recording a new album in November.

However, he’s since dismissed rumours, saying there’s “no Oasis album in the making,” adding, “I was fucking joking, remember them, and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days. I’m sorry if I have upset anyone, but fuck me, it was a laugh.”

Liam also responded to recent comments from Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock that Oasis are “boring.” Writing on X, Liam replied, “FUCK HIM SID WAS THE PISTOLS.”
