The five-part Nordic noir series has already racked up a massive 8.8 million views and shot straight to number one in Netflix’s Global Top Ten.

It’s currently sitting in the top spot in 26 different countries, and is currently ranked fifth in the UK and seventh in the US (as of this writing).

Still, social media is flooded with praise for The Åre Murders, with fans calling it an addictive and gripping watch.

What’s It About?

Set in a snowy Swedish town, the show follows detective Hanna Ahlander (Carla Sehn), who finds herself suspended from duty. Hoping for a break, she heads to the picturesque ski resort town of Åre, but her downtime is cut short when a teenage girl suddenly goes missing.

Unable to resist, Hanna jumps back into action and teams up with local detective Daniel Lindskog (Kardo Razzazi). Their investigation soon unearths dark secrets hiding beneath Åre’s peaceful surface.

Netflix’s official synopsis teases: “In a snowy town in Sweden, two detectives team up to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of a teenage girl, a network of human traffickers, and devastating family secrets.”

Fans Can’t Get Enough

The show, based on a book series of the same name, has been racking up rave reviews. One X (formerly Twitter) user gushed: “Just finished watching #TheÅreMurders. So good!!! Well done!!! Story, filming, cast are all excellent. Loved this series!!!”

A second added: “The Åre Murders (Åremorden/Swedish) on Netflix was good. I hope there is a second season soon.”

“Love a chilling crime drama? The Åre Murders is your next Netflix binge,” another added.
