Bear attack survivor wrote chilling final note to loved ones after picking up pieces of his own flesh

Jeremy Evans was attacked by a bear in Canada in 2017

A man who survived a bear attack wrote a chilling final note to his loved ones after finding pieces of his own flesh following the incident.

On August 24, 2017, Jeremy Evans ventured into the Alberta woods in Canada in an attempt to hunt a ram.

However, instead of finding a ram, the maintenance supervisor ended up running into a bear, and nearly lost his life.

As he was out hunting, Jeremy noticed ‘a little brown thing’ run right in front of him, ‘less than 10 feet away’. He quickly came to the realization it wasn’t a ram, but a grizzly bear cub.

Jeremy previously told UNILAD he reached down to try and grab his bear spray from his backpack, but before he could find it, the cub’s mother came into sight.

In a bid to scare the bear away, Jeremy threw his bicycle at her and struck her, ending up with some ‘pretty big holes’ in his hand.

The bear eased off briefly, but then ‘came charging back in a second time,’ and so Jeremy ran for his life, leaping into a tree.

But the mom bear ‘wrapped her paws around’ his right leg before he was able to get to a safe height.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Jeremy said: “My left eye was hanging out of the socket. It was facing down. In order to really see, I either had to lift up my eye or lean my head way back.

“I remember feeling my face and nothing felt the same. My jaw was hanging down on the left side and all my teeth were exposed.”

After the bear left the scene, Jeremy’s ravaged body dropped to the ground. He couldn’t see, his vision having been impaired by the attack, but he managed to crawl back through the woods and find his bag and gun.

The first things he came across were his moustache and goatee, a chunk of his face and his ear, ripped away entirely by the bear.

Jeremy was left convinced he wasn’t going to make it out of there alive, so pulled out his phone and wrote some final messages to his wife.

“Whoever finds this please let my wife know I tried to make it,” one message shared with UNILAD read. “But there is [no] chance, that bear really [f***ed] me up.”

In another text, Jeremy wrote: “I am pretty sure this is the end. I am very tired and I feel like I am going to pass out. If I do I won’t wake up.”

Following the attack, Jeremy has undergone five major surgeries and another 15 minor procedures, though it isn’t just the physical damage that has taken its toll.

He understandably developed PTSD, and has had years of therapy in a bid to overcome the horrid attack.
