Chilling reason why two-bedroom house is going on the market for $1.20

Chilling reason why two-bedroom house is going on the market for $1.20

Well, we can’t all be fussy in a cost of living crisis, eh?

A house is listed at a starting price of $1.25, but like all things that sound too good to be true, it comes with a catch.

Amid a cost of living crisis, the prospect of ever getting on the property ladder is looking less and less likely every day that passes – it’s no surprise one man decided to live in a dumpster and others have upped sticks to cruises.

So a $1.25 house? Sign me up. Although, once you see the eerie details surrounding the house you may think twice.

The house listing

The property is located on Pasture Row in Bishop Auckland in County Durham in the UK.

It’s a terraced house with two beds and an impressive 473 square feet.

Not only that, but it’s freehold has ‘no onward chain,’ and even has ‘super’-fast 51Mbps’ broadband.

The listing continues: “We are delighted to offer to the market this two bedroom terraced property located on Pasture Row, Bishop Auckland.

“[…] Briefly comprising; Lounge, Kitchen. To the first floor lies two good size bedrooms and a family bathroom.”

However, once you see the pictures of the property you may understand why it’s currently listed online for the grand total of $1.25.

The kitchen (OnTheMarket)

The kitchen (OnTheMarket)

Yup. It’s hardly the most enticing of properties, images showing an outside which leaves a lot to be desired and an inside which carries on a similar trend.

The kitchen is messy with litter strewn around, the staircase and a ladder to an attic look like a scene from a horror movie and the fact the bathroom is the best bit says all you ned to know.

It’s not a surprise the listing states: “Once renovated this property has the potential to be a substantial family home.”

It also adds: “Properties in this location are extremely popular.”

However, you may slightly doubt the last line when you hear about the slightly chilling location the house resides in.

The Mail Online reports the area surrounding the house is a ‘ghost town’ of a former mining village.

Not only that, but the area is reportedly rampant with crime and bad behavior, so bad in fact, bus drivers refuse to stop and let people on or off there.

Other properties surrounding the – already pretty bleak – house are reportedly covered in graffiti and abandoned.

According to the listing, the auction date for the property has yet to be announced and ‘fees apply’ – so keep your eyes peeled if you want to be in with a chance of bagging the $1.20 property in the ghost town.

We can’t all be fussy in a cost of living crisis now, eh?
