The former cabin crew member spoke about a number of hazardous things that people try to get away with on planes

An ex-flight attendant has spoken out against some of the most annoying influencer trends that she’s spotted on flights online.

The influencer is known on social media as Skye Taylor, and worked for Virgin Atlantic for 16 years in the past.

Taylor, who is now a full-time content creator, complained in a previous TikTok video about some things she has spotted online that she finds ‘crazy’ when it comes to air travel.

And honestly, you can understand why she was so infuriated by the ‘unsafe behaviour’ some people were showing.

Snapping pictures near plane engines

We didn’t think you needed a sign for this, but it might be needed, as Taylor explained this and several other unsafe trends that may happen on planes to the Express.

People do a lot for likes on Instagram, but standing near engines that generate tens of thousands of horse power (an average car has about 180hp), is not the smartest thing to do.

Flight attendants and other trained airline staff might snap a quick pic next to them, but the average passenger should steer clear, for their own safety.

There are markings on the floor that tell you where you should not pass, and they are there for a reason.

Placing their babies on the floor

This sounds unbelievable, but the flight attendant said: “The amount of people that show their babies sleeping on the floor is absolutely crazy.

“It is like, you certainly wouldn’t go and put your child in the footwell of a car.”

She pointed out that the aircraft, in the worst case scenario could drop ‘10,000ft within minutes’, while your child is on the floor under metal.

Taylor suggested that there should be restrictions on sharing content like that as ‘it gives people ideas’, as she added: “It is just about being safety aware which a lot of people aren’t and I totally understand that because they don’t do it everyday.

“But some of it is a little common sense, which seems to be lost sometimes on social media.”

Writing on the bathroom mirror

This may sound harmless, but in the past, Taylor says that it has posed a threat to those in the air – after all, you are crammed into a metal tube in the sky.

“There was one TikTok and there was writing all over the aircraft mirror,” she explained.

“I get that normal people wouldn’t understand that, but there have been quite a lot of occasions in terrorist attacks where writing on a bathroom mirror was quite a horrible thing.”

Other complaints

The former flight attendant still feels a certain way about people complaining online about an unpleasant flight, claiming that the anger aimed at cabin crew was often caused by them adhering to safety restrictions.

She pointed out: “I saw somebody else saying the crew member refused to hold her baby while she went to the bathroom.

“But we are not allowed to hold babies any more, that is a safety thing that was changed. If we do want to hold a baby, we have to find a secure seat, strap ourselves in, and put that baby on our lap,” the Brit revealed.

The flight attendant added that in a post-COVID world, working onboard is so busy that they wouldn’t even get the opportunity to do that.

She highlighted that if they say they can’t do something, they ‘are not being rude’, as there is usually a reason – which a lot of passengers don’t understand.

Taylor further urged passengers not to bring large, unsafe car seats that can partially block the aisle, which can be an issue in an evacuation.

Doctor has an 'ADHD quiz' with 11 questions he asks patients to determine if they have it

He explained that it may be difficult to spot

A doctor came up with a quiz which he thinks could help someone work out whether they’ve got ADHD or not.

Between three and four percent of adults in the UK are thought to have ADHD, and according to the NHS there are a number of signs to look out for.

Cases are most often diagnosed at an early age when someone is under the age of 12, but there are times when an adult is diagnosed with it as well.

Dr Ali Ajaz said that the criteria for diagnosing ADHD was ‘biased against women in general’, and suggested that a woman wondering if she had ADHD should try a quiz he came up with.

Men are more often diagnosed with ADHD, but women experience the same type, number, and severity of symptoms as men.

Experts have suggested that women are more likely to exhibit inattentive symptoms, which can lead to difficulties with concentration, organisation and memory.

Men and boys are more commonly found with hyperactive or impulsive symptoms, which are sometimes easier to spot.

Dr Ajaz compiled a list of 11 questions and asked people to score themselves between one and five points for each, with one being ‘very rarely’ and five being ‘very often’.

If you feel as though you might be displaying symptoms of ADHD, have a browse over Dr Ajaz’s questions:

  1. Are you clueless to how others manage to lead consistent, regular lives?
  2. Do you have trouble controlling what you spend your money on?
  3. Do you find a request for just one more thing at the end of the day emotionally triggering?
  4. Do you feel like you are passing for a normal person, but really feel like an imposter inside?
  5. Do you feel you have better ideas than others, but are just unable to organise them enough to act upon them?
  6. Have you ever been thought of as selfish because you don’t write thank you notes or send birthday cards?
  7. Do you feel like you are always on the go like a tornado or just slobbing around like a couch potato, but never in between?
  8. Do you think twice about having people over to your home because you’re ashamed of the mess?
  9. Do your friends or family call you a slob, or just simply very spacey?
  10. Is all your time taken up just holding your life together with time for fun or relaxation?
  11. Do you often display that you’ll never fulfil your potential or achieve your life goals or ambitions?

As for what this means, the doctor suggested ‘if you score over 35, it’s possible that you might have ADHD’.

He suggested that you speak to a doctor ‘about a specialist referral’, as an adult being diagnosed with it is done by a specialist and under current guidelines cannot be confirmed unless symptoms have been present since childhood as ADHD is not currently considered to develop in adults.

Adult star who earns eye-watering amount of money a month says X-rated career has ‘destroyed’ her dating life

Maddi Miller said that men ‘view her as competition’ because of how much she rakes in

A woman who claims to have achieved millionaire status thanks to her career in the adult industry said her job also ‘destroyed’ her dating life.

Maddi Miller might have the flash cars and a fancy home, but she lost her fella after taking the plunge and signing herself up to an X-rated site.

The Australian, who boasts 25,000 Instagram followers, explained that she first joined the industry when she was aged 18 and in a relationship. She said she got into this line of work to ‘secure her future’, however, Miller says her boyfriend soon became unhappy when she became the breadwinner.

The model explained that her other half was making the most money in the early days of their relationship and he regularly paid for romantic date nights.

But when the roles reversed and Miller started bringing in up to $70,000 (£111,568) a month, she says that her partner began ‘viewing her as competition’.

It wasn’t just this guy, either – as the adult content creator says she has struggled to find a bloke who can deal with her making more money than him.

She told news.com.au last year: “I feel like it hurts their egos. They still have this expectation that, as the man, they should hold the financial power in a relationship.

“I obviously threaten their sense of masculinity in that way.”

The fact that she lives in a small town in Western Australia with a limited dating pool doesn’t help matters, either.

“It’s always been ironic to me that I’ve never had more men frothing over me on the internet than I do now and yet in real life, I have less going on than ever before,” Miller said.

At the time, she explained she had been single for about a year.

“But I’d rather be celibate than with a man that doesn’t support my career,” Miller added.

She said she has got her sights set on meeting a guy who is ‘also successful in his career and someone who I can build an empire with’.

Miller continued: “People tend to look at me, my style, my tattoos and what I do for work and make assumptions about my values. They’re almost never right, I’m a total romantic.”

The adult star explained she has been motivated to make money since the age of 14, which is when she got her first job.

Saying she has ‘worked hard from the moment she could’, Miller told how she was employed in various roles over the years, such as a tattooist and an administrator at a golf club.

Speaking of her venture into the adult industry, she said: “This career gave me the chance to take my finances to another level and secure my future as well.”

Known for his food reviews and comedic takes, while also saying his ‘I’m Delicious’ catchline, Noone has deleted his social media

Irish creator Garron Noone, known for his viral ‘I’m Delicious’ catchphrase, has deleted his social media accounts on TikTok and Instagram following a video about immigration.

It comes after his fellow countryman Conor McGregor made demands to the Irish government on ‘White House paper’ regarding the political future of Ireland, including people coming in to the country.

McGregor said, without evidence, that Irish politicians have ‘abandoned the voices of the people’, adding that there was ‘zero action with zero accountability’.

He went as far as saying there is an ‘illegal immigration racket running ravage’. Again, without providing evidence of this.

Noone, who had more than one million people following him across his accounts, became popular during the coronavirus lockdowns for his food reviews and satirical takes on current affairs and news.

But in a new video on the serious matter of immigration, Noone said countless people had messaged him for his take on McGregor’s visit to The White House and to see President Donald Trump as a way for the USA to mark St Patrick’s Day.

“Now, my opinion on Conor McGregor is irrelevant. But I don’t think he’s a good person,” Noone said. “I don’t think it’s particularly hard to find evidence of that.

“But it doesn’t surprise me in the least to see a lot of people agreeing with what he was saying.

“There absolutely is a immigration issue in Ireland.”

Noone, who is a professional musician, added that this ‘doesn’t mean that people feel we shouldn’t take the refugees that we’re able to take’ or that ‘people shouldn’t be able to come here for better opportunities’.

On the wider issue of politics in Ireland, he added: “The systems that we have in place are being taken advantage of, and that is plain to see.

“And the government continually does not allow people to express their concerns about that.

“Along with this, Ireland continues to become one of the richest countries in the world while most people’s quality of life is going down.”

Despite saying he didn’t agree with McGregor and doesn’t actually like the man, he tried to clarify his comments in a later post saying that he knew his opinion would be taken out of context.

He said that extreme views on immigration are ‘not something that we want’ but that ‘we need to hear people out’.

Now the creator has now made the sudden decision to deactivate his accounts on TikTok and Instagram.

His YouTube account is still active but he has yet to publicly comment on why he has removed his other two platforms.

There are some signs you should keep an eye out for in the early stages of a relationship

A relationships expert has explained the four things you should be wary of when you’re in the early stages of a relationships, which are the reddest of flags.

Jana Hocking is a seasoned dating expert from Australia, and in the past, she’s given her opinion on things you might want to avoid in the bedroom, as well as acts that women find the most attractive.

But now, she has shared the four behaviours that most likely mean that you’re about to get ‘ghosted’.

‘Ghosting’ basically means to stop communicating with someone with no warning or reason given, ignoring all future attempts from the other person to get in touch.

It’s really toxic, and while Hocking may be an expert on sex and relationships, she revealed to news.com.au that she was recently a victim of the trend.

Recalling that she had ‘finally found the perfect man’, Hocking said her brain ‘short-circuited’ after just one kiss.

In fact, she claimed that he ticked all the boxes for her, going as far to admit that he might have been the one.

They both admitted they had feelings for each other, but just months down the line, he ghosted her, and said that it ‘might have been my fault’, analysing the signs that she admitted were there for ages.

“He was never really into it,” she stated.

She realised that he would talk a lot, then disappear for days, and when he did appear, it made her feel ‘like a million dollars’.

Hocking only saw him three times, explaining: “Despite countless texts, voice notes, cheeky sexts and calls, we had just two dates and one birthday party together.”

So from her situation, she outlined the four things you should be looking out for to avoid the same outcome as her.

Being vague about plans

While warning others to focus on actions rather than words, Hocking said that upon reflection, his actions said ‘I’M NEVER GOING TO DATE YOU PROPERLY’.

One of these signs was when she would get heart-eye emojis, though trying to plan things would be really hard.

She highlighted phrases such as ‘I’ll check my diary when I get home’ and ‘Let’s lock it in next week’ as signs to call it a day.

Getting left on read

We’re not saying to start panicking after five to 10 minutes of being left on read, because they may be busy, but if it’s hours on end, the sirens should be loud enough.

“My guy usually got back to me around 10pm, which didn’t scream ‘priority’,” Hocking admitted.

Talking the talk but not walking the walk

While compliments and late-night chats can feel nice, taking action after putting the phones down is crucial, according to the expert.

She claimed that they’re simply using you for attention, with no intention to go further – wasting your time and effort.

Excuses, excuses, excuses

Hocking says that ‘half-a**ed excuses’ are a no-go, though she missed all the signs at the time.

The Australian recalled: “We had a date planned, and when I suggested going out instead of dinner at home, he suddenly remembered he had a work meeting.”

She later realise that he, in fact, did not.

The expert highlighted that if they aren’t interested in ‘proper dates’, you can expect to be ghosted in the future.

Signing off, she said not to listen your heart (which may be a bit far), and to use your brain a bit more as ‘the signs are always there’.

Ancient Egypt archaeologists stumped after discovering 3,600 year old royal tomb of unknown king

A huge archaeological find, but who in Ancient Egypt was it built for?

A huge archaeological find has been uncovered in Ancient Egypt after daylight was shone on a lost royal tomb for the first time in thousands of years. But experts examining the lost tomb have been left confused. Who is it for?

It is a question that has left Egyptologists stumped after coming across the tomb in the Mount Anubis necropolis in Abydos. Lying west of the River Nile, Abydos is one of the most sacred sites from Ancient Egypt and is the burial spot for the civilisation’s founding kings.

An Egyptian-American archaeological mission from the University of Pennsylvania in the USA made the 3,600-year-old discovery alongside a complete Roman-era pottery workshop in the village of Banawit to the north of Abydos.

Buried underground by some 23 feet, or seven metres, the burial chamber is made of limestone and covered with mudbrick vaults. Thought to be 16 feet high when constructed, it stood at a height of five metres.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, emphasised the importance of these two discoveries.

“The discovery of the royal tomb in Abydos provides new scientific evidence on the development of royal tombs in the Mount Anubis necropolis, which dates back to the Abydos Dynasty, a series of kings who ruled Upper Egypt between 1700 and 1600 BC,” the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a statement on the find.

But who is the lost Pharaoh? No idea is the general take at this moment no time.

What we do know is that their reign dates back to the Second Intermediate Period, which was from 1640 BC to 1540 BC. Back then, northern Egypt was ruled by a group called the Hyksos and the southern part of Egypt was controlled by multiple Egyptian kings, LiveScience reports.

At that period of time Abydos was under Egyptian control. But the control of who, we do not know.

Josef Wegner, a professor of Egyptology and Egyptian archaeology at the University of Pennsylvania who led the team, said: “The king’s name was originally recorded in painted scenes on plastered brickwork that decorated the underground entrance to the limestone burial chamber.

“However, the hieroglyphic texts were damaged by ancient tomb robbers and not enough survives to read the king’s name.”

The style of the decorations and texts is similar to those previously discovered in the tomb of King Senebkay, who ruled between 1650 BC and 1600 BC.

Sadly, the tomb was ransacked a long tie ago by grave robbers. Not even the king’s mummified remains were left in the tomb or their sarcophagus.

Despite this, Anna-Latifa Mourad-Cizek, an assistant professor of Egyptian archaeology at the University of Chicago, said it was a ‘highly significant’ find given there is a limited amount of evidence about the rulers of this region of Ancient Egypt.

At the nearby Roman pottery site also uncovered, a number of burials were found at the site including mud-brick tombs containing skeletons and mummies, likely representing family graves for men and women, most of whom were children.

The find comes after a recent archaeological discovery hidden beneath Egyptian pyramids that, according to experts on the case, changes everything about how we think of the four-sided structures.

Archaeologist makes historic Tutankhamun discovery after studying Egyptian pharaoh's tomb

A huge new development in the study of Ancient Egypt and its most famous son

Tutankhamun, the most famous king and individual in all of Ancient Egypt, continues to make headlines despite having lived more than 3,300 years ago.

The youngest Pharaoh in Ancient Egyptian history who died at the age of just 18, King Tut is for many the most iconic name in all of Egypt after the very famous discovery of his tomb back in 1922 by British Egyptologist Howard Carter.

One of the biggest finds of the 20th century, it was a spectacular find in the Valley of the Kings, with his cause of death still causing headaches for archaeologists to this day.

And a result of his standing in modern pop culture, as well as being the youngest Pharaoh of all time, studies in to the boy ruler are continuing to this very day.

Studying Tutankhamun’s tomb

Work conducted by archaeologist Nicholas Brown, from Yale University in the US, has looked once again at the tomb of Tutankhamun – and in particular, what is inside the tomb of the child king.

See, during his nine years in power, Tutankhamun and his advisers worked to restore old faiths that the boy’s father, Akhenaten, had removed.

And in doing this, Brown says that it presented King Tut with a chance to reinterpret traditional rituals with a fresh take.

What was found in the tomb?

All eyes were on the evidence of a different approach in the four clay trays that were found in the pharaoh’s tomb.

Each tray was roughly 7.5 centimetres by 4.5 centimetres. There were also four 110 centimetre tall wooden staffs found in the stunning tomb.

Brown explains his findings in a new research article entitled ‘These Thy Libations, Osiris! A Reconsideration of the Four Clay Troughs from the Tomb of Tutankhamun’.

In his study, Brown now believes these items were used in the funeral ritual for Tutankhamun, primarily the Awakening of Osiris ritual.

He says: “I’m pretty convinced that what we’re seeing within Tutankhamun’s burial chamber is probably the earliest iteration of this ritual that we can see in the archaeological record.”

What is the significance?

Placed at the head of Tut’s sarcophagus, the image compares to artwork later produced about the ritual showing the dead pharaoh – now Osiris, the God of the underworld – commanded to wake up by staffs behind his head.

“It’s quite possible that what we see in Tutankhamun’s burial is a precursor to the Awakening of Osiris ritual,” Salima Ikram, from the American University in Cairo, said.

It is the latest unusual find in the burial of Tutankhamun, with other rather left field moves including being the only pharaoh to have his manhood mummified in an erect position.

Yes, really.

Man sparks furious online debate after hitting out at passenger’s ‘rude and unaware’ plane etiquette

This is not what you want to see after boarding your flight

Getting through an airport and making it to your plane on time can is stressful enough on its own — so it’s understandable that finding out you’re sat near an entitled passenger would tip you over the edge.

Which is why one particularly frustrated passenger couldn’t help but pull his phone out and snap a photo after reaching his seat and finding another passenger’s jacket draped over the back of it.

The man then shared the interaction on Reddit, which promptly went viral as users debated who was ultimately in the wrong in this particular situation.

Being mindful of each other's personal space is crucial during air travel (Getty Stock Images)

In a now-deleted post, the man shared the image of a purple blazer perched on the back of his seat and explained that he found it there as soon as he boarded the flight.

“I can’t believe how rude or unaware people can be,” the original poster wrote, adding that the woman seated behind him made no attempt to move the clothing item once he sat down.

Going on to explain that he didn’t feel comfortable confronting the passenger over the badly placed item due to it being a long haul flight, the man attempted to get the attention of cabin crew, but was unsuccessful.

“It was a super long-haul flight so I didn’t want the bad vibes behind me,” he said. “I tried making eyes with the flight attendants but nobody helped me.”

The offending blazer (Reddit)

The offending blazer (Reddit)

The man was able to avoid an awkward confrontation after moving to a nearby vacant seat, but this didn’t solve the underlying problem of passengers not being mindful of each other’s personal space on flights.

“Apologies to the person in the future who eventually has to teach her a lesson because I didn’t want to deal with it.” he said.

Naturally the dilemma divided internet users, with two camps quickly forming in the replies.

On one side, you had users who were shocked at the lack of plane etiquette shown by the woman, while others wondered why the original poster didn’t politely ask the woman to move the coat.

“I want to know how people walk around through life with this kind of mentality. Are they stupid, or just entitled,” one person commented, which prompted a second user to point out: “I think part of the reason is people don’t speak up, so they assume these things are fine to do.”

“People are far more often oblivious than malicious, and 95% of the time if you politely point out something that’s bothering you they’ll apologise and your problem is solved,” a third person added.

Other users chimed in with more constructive comments, suggesting that anyone in a similar position should mention it to a flight attendant, writing: “Next time a flight attendant walks by, say ‘Sorry, someone forgot their coat on my seat’ and hand it to them.”

However if there’s one takeaway from the whole situation, it’s this: don’t hang your jacket on someone else’s plane seat.

And maybe don’t shy away from sticking up for yourself either.

Approximately 44,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK

Warning: This article contains discussion of cancer which some readers may find distressing.

Bowel cancer, also known as colon cancer, is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths in the UK behind lung cancer.

According to Cancer Research UK last year, the UK experienced the fourth-fastest rise in early onset bowel cancer (3.6 per cent) from 2017, with statistics showing that one in every twenty bowel cancer cases happened to a person under the age of 50.

One woman from Australia, who’s symptoms were initially dismissed by a doctor before receiving her stage 4 diagnosis, has raised the important reminder of ‘early detection’.

What is colon cancer?

Colon cancer is cancer that’s found anywhere in the large bowel, including the colon and rectum.

“How serious bowel cancer is depends on how big the cancer is, if the cancer has spread, and your general health.” the NHS states.

According to Bowel Cancer UK, roughly 44,000 people are diagnosed with the disease every year in the UK, and notably, the number of cases are increasing amongst adults between 20 and 50-years-old.

Tess has issued a warning (TikTok/@thegreenthumbmum)

Tess, a content creator from Australia, started to notice warning signs 10 months before she was diagnosed when she experienced ‘extreme stomach cramping’.

According to the mum-of-two, it was ‘mild’ at the start before leaving her ‘to the point where she would be on the floor in the fetal position’ due to the pain.

Although her blood test didn’t reveal any cancer, other symptoms were noted, such as:

  • Low iron
  • Anaemic
  • Blood in her stool
  • ‘Thin’ and ‘small’ stool

Tess told her TikTok (@thegreenthumbmum) followers in a video: “A lot of these symptoms got put down to postpartum, I was 18 months postpartum when I started to go to the doctor about these symptoms.

“So that’s why a lot of it was kind of washed under the bridge.”

In her comments, she further explained that because she’d had haemorrhoids, her doctor didn’t perform a colonoscopy as it was ‘assumed it was due to those’:

“It ended up being both. My gastro told me I was ‘overreacting’ when I said I thought it might be cancer and that I was probably just constipated.” Tess said. “He then did the colonoscopy and was pretty embarrassed. Keep seeing doctors until someone listens.”

Her advice for anyone experiencing concerning symptoms is to urge your GP for a colonoscopy, as they can directly visualise and remove potentially cancerous polyps, as well as a blood test.

Other symptoms of colon cancer

The mum explained that ‘there are other symptoms as well’, adding that it ‘might present in each person differently’.

According to the NHS, other symptoms of bowel cancer may include:

  • Changes in your pooing habits
  • Bleeding from your bottom
  • Feeling like you need to poo even if you’ve just been to the toilet
  • Tummy pain
  • A lump in your tummy
  • Bloating
  • Losing weight without trying
  • Feeling very tired for no reason

The deep, dark unknown is home to many creepy, alien-looking fish and wildlife that physically can’t handle sunlight, with any footage of them near the surface certain to go viral.

In reality, there are creatures down there that scientists may never discover, and the thought of that is enough to send chill down spines.

Footage from GoPros below the surface of the water is enough to kick up a fuss on social media, so what about cameras that go hundreds of feet deeper?

This footage was released last year from scientists that work at the University of Western Australia and Kelpie Geosciences in the UK, and it’s left viewers shocked.

In a clip that rivals a sub’s interaction with an ancient deep-sea creature up close, where scientists could see its eye, this ranks highly among creepy-yet-educational ocean exploration videos.

It is said that the creature mistook the camera for prey in the South Pacific on Wednesday 8 May, with Associate Professor Stewart stating: “As we were reviewing the footage, we realised we had captured something very rare.”

In the video, a rare squid can be seen wrapping its arms around a camera 1026m below the surface, where it is almost pitch black.

It’s not just any rare squid though, known as the Taningia Danae, it can be seen making its approach towards the camera and spreading its tentacles over the camera lens, seemingly thinking that it was something that it could eat.

The species is known for having two incredibly large photophores on the end of two of its tentacles that produce bioluminescence, which have also been described as ‘headlights’.

They are the largest known photophores in the known world, and are also known to produce flashes in the dark ocean to disorientate prey while hunting, which can also be seen in the video.

The equipment captured two angles of the squid wrapping its tentacles around the lens, one from the scene and one from behind, showcasing just how massive the squid is.

Also known as the Dana octopus squid, it is one of the largest known squid species, able to reach a total length of 2.3m. The largest known specimen weighed a whopping 161.4kg.
