Robert Wagner Was ‘Shattered’ by His Wife’s Death but Found Love Again with a Woman Who Became His Children’s Stepmother

In 1981, Robert Wagner’s wife, actress Natalie Wood, met a tragic end. Left to raise their children alone, he faced years of grief and unanswered questions. Though shattered by the tragedy, Robert eventually found love again.

Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood’s love story was one for the ages. They first married in 1957, divorced five years later, but found their way back to each other and remarried in 1972. Together, they created a blended family and seemed to have built a life filled with love and success.

Tragically, everything changed one night when Natalie went missing in the ocean. In the wake of her death, Robert was left to raise their children while coping with overwhelming grief. Eventually, he reconnected with an old friend who brought love and stability back into his life.

In the early hours of November 29, 1981, Robert and the crew of his yacht, Splendour, made a distress call: Natalie was missing. The couple had been on the boat near Catalina Island with Captain Dennis Davern and actor Christopher Walken, a friend and co-star of Natalie’s.

Roughly six hours later, the body of the 43-year-old actress was discovered floating in the Pacific Ocean, about a mile from the yacht. She was dressed in a red down jacket, a flannel nightgown, and wool socks.

Nearby, the couple’s dinghy, Prince Valiant, had drifted onto the rocks, its ignition key switched off and its oars secured in place.

News of Natalie’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood. The acclaimed actress, best known for “West Side Story,” “Rebel Without a Cause,” and “Splendor in the Grass,” had been a beloved star since childhood. “It’s hard to describe the horror of this thing,” said Fred Astaire, a family friend.

Initially, authorities ruled her death an accidental drowning, but speculation persisted. Natalie had a well-known fear of deep water, raising questions about why she would have left the yacht in the middle of the night.

The case remained closed until 2011 when investigators reopened it due to new witness statements. Then, in 2018, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified the actor as a “person of interest,” stating that he was the last person to see Natalie alive.

“His version of events just don’t add up,” said Lieutenant John Corina. He also noted that Robert’s account had changed over time. However, Robert has always maintained that Natalie’s death was an accident and has refused to speak with authorities since the case was reopened.

Despite the public scrutiny and personal grief, Robert’s focus remained on his family. As he mourned his wife, he made a life-changing decision about raising their children.

A Devoted Father: Robert Raised Their Children After Natalie’s Death

In the aftermath of Natalie’s passing, the actor focused on keeping their family together. He and Richard Gregson, Natalie’s second husband and the father of her eldest daughter, Natasha, came to an agreement.

Natasha would remain with Robert so she could grow up alongside her sisters, Courtney, his daughter with Natalie, and Katie, his daughter from a previous marriage to Marion Marshall.”We were all so shattered by the loss, and we were hanging on to each other,” Robert recalled years later.

Raising three young girls while mourning his wife was not easy, but Robert was determined to provide them with a stable and loving home. Natasha, who was just 11 when her mother died, has spoken about how Robert became her guiding force.

She affectionately calls him “Daddy Wagner” and credits him with helping her and her sisters navigate life without their mother. As Natasha grew older, she found ways to honor Natalie, including writing a memoir and producing an HBO documentary about her mother’s life.

Though the pain of losing Natalie never faded, Robert and his daughters remained a close-knit family, holding on to the memories they shared. But for Robert, life after Natalie was still filled with sorrow.

For years, his life revolved around his children, and he had no plans to find love again. But just when he least expected it, an old friendship turned into something more.

Finding Love Again: A Friendship That Turned Into Romance

Two months after the tragedy, at a dinner party, Robert, who was 52 at the time, crossed paths with Jill St. John, also an actress, whom he had known for decades. Their connection went back to the 1950s when they were both young actors under contract at 20th Century Fox.

She had also known Natalie since childhood, making their bond even more meaningful. When Jill first reached out to Robert after Natalie’s passing, it was simply to offer condolences. “That was it,” recalled a close friend of Jill’s. “[Robert’ just started calling. They started dating and have been ever since.”

At the time, Robert made it clear he wasn’t looking for marriage, and Jill remained discreet about their relationship. “It’s marvelous to be enjoying a relationship with a friend of 20 years,” she once said. “There is so much trust and understanding.”

Though Robert was still mourning Natalie, his relationship with Jill brought unexpected comfort. Over time, what started as a friendship slowly turned into love. But even as he moved forward, his past was never far from his heart.

The Woman Who Became His Life Partner and His Children’s Stepmother

As Robert and Jill’s bond deepened, she became a steady presence in his life and the lives of his daughters. She didn’t try to replace Natalie but instead stepped into the family with calm understanding. Over time, she became a maternal figure, providing support and stability for Natasha, Courtney, and Katie.

For years, Robert and Jill kept their relationship private, focusing on their family rather than public attention. Then, in 1990, nearly a decade after Natalie’s death, they married. Jill’s presence helped bring a sense of normalcy back to Robert’s life.

She embraced the role of stepmother with care, and his daughters welcomed her into the family. Years later, one of them reflected on their bond, sharing a rare family photo in honor of Robert’s 90th birthday.

“We figured, why not have my dad and Jill in the photo too?” the caption read. “Hope we all get to age as gracefully and joyfully as our dad.”

After years of heartbreak, Robert had found love again, not just in his marriage but in the life he rebuilt with his family. And his devotion to them—both to Natalie’s memory and to the woman who helped him heal—never wavered.

A Love That Stood the Test of Time

More than three decades after their wedding, Robert and Jill remain devoted to each other. Robert has often expressed his gratitude for Jill, celebrating their anniversaries and milestones with heartfelt messages.

“Today marks 34 years of sharing my life with the most incredible woman,” Robert wrote in August 2024, honoring their wedding anniversary. “Over the years, our journey together has been filled with laughter, love, and countless unforgettable memories.”

He has also shared his admiration for Jill on her birthday, calling every day with her a gift. Jill has been by Robert’s side through the years, supporting him as he maintained his close relationship with his daughters and grandchildren.

In a 1987 interview, she revealed that she enjoyed cooking for Robert, focusing on healthy meals. “We do a lot of poached and steamed things, mainly vegetables,” she said. Through the ups and downs, Jill has remained Robert’s rock.

Robert’s Enduring Love for Natalie

Even after finding happiness with Jill, Robert has never stopped honoring Natalie’s memory. Decades after her passing, he continues to pay tribute to her on significant dates, sharing heartfelt messages that reflect how deeply she remains a part of his life.

On what would have been their wedding anniversary in 2024, Robert posted a black-and-white photo from their 1957 wedding, writing, “67 years ago today on December 28, 1957, I married Natalie for the first time. She will always hold a special place in my heart, and I cherish the memories of the life we built together.”

A few weeks earlier, on the anniversary of her death, he shared another tribute. “Remembering Nat today and every day. Her light continues to shine through our children and grandchildren. More than love,” it read.

Robert has also spoken about Natalie in his memoir, “Pieces of My Heart,” which he co-wrote with Scott Eyman. In the book, published in 2008, he reflected on their love story, their marriage, and the night she died.

While the memoir did not reveal any new details about her death, it reaffirmed Robert’s belief that it was a tragic accident. He recalled how writing about Natalie and other defining moments of his life was deeply emotional, explaining that it felt as though each page “took pieces of my heart.”

Natasha has spoken about how her mother’s legacy still resonates and how people continue to feel connected to her. “It’s just unbelievable that there’s a relevancy to her all these years later,” she marveled in 2024. “And that people really feel that they knew her or that they feel this protectiveness toward her.”

Robert has also shared that, at times, he sees glimpses of Natalie in Natasha. “Sometimes I see the way she moves or the way she walks or laughs, and she just reminds me of Natalie,” he once said. “It’s not a continuous thing, just a moment, a turn, her hair, some kind of look. It’s quite extraordinary.”

At 95, Robert Wagner has experienced profound love and heartbreaking loss. He has spent decades cherishing his past with Natalie while embracing the life he built with Jill who is now 86. Through it all, family has remained at the center of his world.

Team USA Concedes Early Goal to Team Canada in Four Nations Face-Off, Igniting Heated Reactions — Video

A video capturing Team USA conceding an early lead to Team Canada’s hockey team sparked strong reactions both in the arena and online.

Canadian center Nathan MacKinnon scored just 4:48 into the Four Nations Face-Off, firing a wrist shot through traffic past U.S. goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The goal gave Canada an early lead and shifted the momentum.

Despite winning the Hart Trophy last season, MacKinnon remains somewhat underappreciated beyond core hockey circles—a reputation he seemed determined to challenge in this high-stakes match.

The U.S. didn’t stay down for long. Winger Brady Tkachuk tied the game at 9:01 p.m. ET, finishing a sharp pass from Auston Matthews right in the slot. The goal reignited the crowd, with chants of “USA, USA” echoing through the arena as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” blasted over the speakers.

The energy only grew as classic rock anthems like Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” and “Quiet Riot” kept fans on their feet. Adding to the night’s quirky moments, a lucky fan won 10 pounds of lobster during a break.

Social media was quick to react to the game’s early twists. “Life, liberty and the U.S. underperforming in a gold medal style game smh[sic],” one fan posted, capturing the frustration of American supporters.

One user criticized Tkachuk, “BBBBBBBRRRRRAAAADDDYYYYY!!!!! Brrrrraaaaadddddyyyyyyyy!!!!!! It’s ALL YOUR FAULT [sic].” Canadian fans responded with pride and humor, with one writing, “Lmao. A man jinxed USA. KARMA. LOL. Let’s go Canada [sic].”

Someone else focused on the gameplay itself, “A really great shot. Nothing you could do there defensively. Helle couldn’t even see the puck with all the traffic.”

The game’s intensity and the strong reactions highlighted the enduring rivalry between the two nations.

Oprah Winfrey Hid Her Pregnancy & Gave Birth at 14, but Today, She Has ‘Daughters’ – Her Story

Oprah Winfrey once faced a moment that nearly changed the course of her life forever. At 14, she stood in a detention home, believing she would be labeled a “bad girl” for the rest of her life. But an unexpected turn of events led her on a different path—one that would define her future.

Winfrey, now 71, is one of the most influential women in media, known for her groundbreaking talk show and philanthropy. But long before she built her empire, she endured a childhood filled with difficulties. Raised in poverty, she experienced mistreatment from an early age and was left to navigate the consequences alone.

At 14, she discovered she was pregnant. Fearful of what would happen if anyone found out, she hid the pregnancy for seven months. But when the truth was revealed, she was nearly sent away. Instead, fate intervened, and a single moment changed the trajectory of her life.

Winfrey’s Secret Pregnancy and the Baby She Lost

Winfrey’s early years were marked by trauma. She was sexually abused starting at the age of nine and continued to endure it for several years. At 14, she became pregnant as a result of that abuse, but she kept it a secret, refusing to acknowledge what was happening.

She later described feeling detached from the pregnancy, saying, “I say ‘the baby’ because I was so disassociated; I never felt like it was my baby.” She concealed the pregnancy for seven months, but eventually, her mother found out.

Believing her daughter needed to be disciplined, she attempted to send her to a detention home. As Winfrey sat there, waiting to be processed, she looked around at the other girls and thought, “Now I am officially a bad girl.”

But then, something unexpected happened—a woman told her mother, “I’m sorry, Miss Lee, but there’s not enough room on our docket for your daughter. You’ll have to come back in two weeks.” That moment changed everything.

Instead of being placed in the facility, Winfrey was sent to live with her father in Nashville, which she later credited as the turning point in her life. Shortly after, she gave birth, but the baby did not survive. Winfrey recalled how her father used the moment to encourage her.

“This is your second chance. This is your opportunity to seize this moment and make something of your life,” he said to her. She took those words to heart, understanding that she had been given another chance to change her future.

Betrayal: When Her Secret Was Exposed to the World

For years, Winfrey kept her teenage pregnancy a secret, sharing it only with her closest family and friends. She feared that if the truth became public, it would follow her for the rest of her life. In 1990, that fear became reality when a relative sold her story to the National Enquirer for $19,000.

The betrayal blindsided her. Winfrey later wrote, “I would tell no one until I felt safe enough to share my dark past: the years I was sexually abused,[..] my resulting promiscuity as a teenager, and finally, at 14, my becoming pregnant.”

She had worked for years to keep that part of her life private, believing that if people knew, they might judge or reject her. When she learned that her secret had been exposed, she was devastated. “I took to my bed and cried for three days,” she recalled.

Lying in a darkened room, she struggled to process the betrayal. Her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, stood beside her, sharing in her pain. He handed her the tabloid and said, “I’m so sorry. You don’t deserve this.”

Although the betrayal deeply wounded her, Winfrey refused to let it define her. Over time, she reclaimed her story, speaking openly about her past on her terms.

Making Peace with Her Mother

Winfrey had come to terms with much of her past over the years and freed herself from the shame she once carried. However, one part of her life remained unresolved—her relationship with her mother.

The woman who had once tried to send her away when she became pregnant had never provided the comfort or protection Winfrey had needed as a child. Before she could fully move forward, she had to confront this final chapter.

In 2018, Winfrey received a call from her sister, who told her their mother, Vernita Lee, was nearing the end of her life. Although she had a full schedule, she flew to Milwaukee to see her mother. When she arrived, she found Lee sitting in her favorite warm room, watching television.

Over the next few days, Winfrey sat with her, searching for the right words to say goodbye. At one point, she asked her mother, “Do you think you’re going to make it?” Lee responded, “I don’t think I am.” During one of her visits, Winfrey struggled to express what she needed to say.

Then, she had an idea — she played gospel music, something her mother loved. She called her friend, gospel singer Wintley Phipps, and asked him to sing “Precious Lord” over FaceTime. As she played more music, she saw her mother relax. It was then that she spoke the words she had held in for years.

“Thank you. Thank you, because I know it’s been hard for you. It was hard for you as a young girl having a baby, in Mississippi. No education. No training. No skills. Seventeen, you get pregnant with this baby. Lots of people would have told you to give that baby away… but you didn’t do that. And look how it turned out,” she said.

Shortly after, Lee passed away. With her mother gone, she found closure. It was the final piece of healing she had yet to face, and by speaking the words she had once held back, she was able to let go of any remaining resentment. Now, she could move forward with a sense of peace, no longer bound by the pain of her past.

How Her Past Shaped Her Future

The talk show host has often reflected on how her difficult childhood shaped her outlook on life. She once shared that growing up in poverty and experiencing abuse from an early age gave her a deep understanding of human suffering.

“I wouldn’t take anything for having been raised the way that I was,” she stated. She also admitted that as a teenager, she reached a breaking point. After becoming pregnant at 14, she considered ending her own life. “I hit rock-bottom,” she recalled, adding that she felt there was no way out.

She later acknowledged that had the internet been available at the time, she might not have survived because it would have made finding harmful information easier. Instead, she took her father’s encouragement to heart and worked tirelessly to build a future for herself.

Later, “The Oprah Winfrey Show” became an unexpected form of therapy. The first time she publicly admitted her past abuse was on television—something she had never planned. While interviewing a woman who shared a similar story, she found herself saying, “That happened to me.”

Faith also played a crucial role in her healing. Despite being raised by a strict grandmother, Winfrey credited her for giving her a strong spiritual foundation. “She did give me a belief in something bigger than myself,” she said. That belief helped her overcome the trauma of her early years and fueled her mission to help others.

Winfrey’s Decision Not to Have Children

As Winfrey built her career, she gave serious thought to whether motherhood was the right path for her. After getting engaged to Graham in 1986, she even purchased an additional apartment in Chicago, anticipating that marriage might lead to children.

However, as time passed, she realized that parenting required a level of sacrifice she was not prepared to make. Her years hosting “The Oprah Winfrey Show” greatly influenced that decision. She spent decades interviewing people whose struggles often stemmed from difficult childhoods.

Seeing firsthand how deeply parenting could shape a person’s future made her reflect on the weight of that responsibility. She came to understand that raising a child required more than love—it demanded a lifetime of emotional, mental, and physical commitment.

Winfrey also recognized that her work consumed most of her time and energy. Unlike some women who found ways to balance both career and family, she knew she could not. She often worked 17-hour days and saw how demanding motherhood was for many of her guests.

She had great respect for women who devoted themselves to raising children but admitted that she was not suited for that role. In hindsight, she has no regrets about her choice. She and Graham both believe that had they married, their relationship might not have lasted under the pressures of traditional expectations.

Though she never had children of her own, she later found another way to experience motherhood—one that brought her even greater fulfillment.

The Daughters She Found Through Her Academy

Though Winfrey never became a mother in the traditional sense, she found fulfillment in a different kind of motherhood. In 2007, she established the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG) in South Africa.

The school is designed to provide education and opportunities for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds. She built the academy for girls who, like her, had faced hardship and loss. Over the years, her bond with the students has deepened.

Many of them had grown up in poverty, had lost one or both parents or had faced other challenges that made their journeys difficult. Winfrey became more than just a benefactor—she became a mentor and a guiding figure in their lives. As they grew closer, the students affectionately began calling her “Mom O.”

At first, she hesitated to embrace the title, not wanting to diminish the role of the girls’ biological mothers or guardians. But as time went on, she realized the relationship she had built with them was truly maternal. Reflecting on this, she once said, “They’re the daughters I did not have.”

In November 2022, she shared moments with her “daughter-girls” on social media, posting a video of herself giving them holiday gifts. “I think the holidays are better shared,” she wrote. “So I had such a great time gifting my daughter-girls all of my favorite things.”

In another post that same month, she referred to one of her students, Thando Dlomo, as her “daughter-girl,” revealing that although Dlomo couldn’t make it to Thanksgiving that year, she had sent Winfrey a song that became part of their celebration.

For Winfrey, this experience has been life-changing. “This is how having children was supposed to manifest for me,” she explained. Through the academy, she was able to nurture, mentor, and help shape the lives of hundreds of young women—something she considers one of her greatest accomplishments.

Her Relationship with the Girls Today

Winfrey’s connection with the young women from her academy has only grown stronger over the years. She remains deeply involved in their lives, offering mentorship, guidance, and support long after they graduate. Many of them turn to her for advice, seeking her wisdom on everything from career choices to personal challenges.

She once shared that the girls ask her all kinds of questions, from dating advice to how to honor a parent who has passed away. “They are my greatest, deepest joy,” she emphasized. Though OWLAG was founded as a school, it has become much more.

Since its opening, 90 percent of its graduates have gone on to attend top universities, including Harvard and Oxford. Many of the young women have built successful careers and continue to maintain a close relationship with their mentor and mother figure.

Reflecting on her journey, she has said that the maternal love she once thought she would never experience has been more than fulfilled. “Those girls fill that maternal fold that I perhaps would have had,” she said. “In fact, they overfill—I’m overflowed with maternal.”

Ben, 52, kept his look simple yet stylish. He wore a beige overcoat over a cream-colored sweater, paired with matching pants and dark sunglasses. His well-groomed beard and slicked-back hair complemented his clean-cut appearance.

Seraphina, 16, opted for a laid-back and expressive style. They wore an oversized Bob Marley graphic t-shirt layered under a navy and white jacket.

They paired the look with olive green cargo pants, red-framed glasses, and a silver chain necklace. Their dark brown hair was cut short and styled in a messy, effortless manner.

The pair was photographed walking side by side, with Ben leading the way while Seraphina followed closely. Their visit to the popular aquarium appeared to be a relaxed family outing.

The sighting quickly sparked conversations online, with social media users sharing their thoughts on the father-child duo. Many commented on their striking resemblance.

The then-15-year-old made the public aware at a family event that they had a new name: Fin Affleck. This happened at a memorial service for Jennifer’s dad, William Jack Garner, held at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia.

This was the first time Fin used their new name in public. Wearing a chic black suit and sporting a buzz-cut hairstyle, Fin — previously known as Seraphina Rose Affleck — approached the lectern and introduced themselves with, “Hello my name is Fin Affleck.”

Fin then proceeded to read a verse from the Bible that highlights how qualities like benevolence and honesty outweigh the materialistic value of being a bad person with a lot of wealth.

The service was to remember Jennifer’s dad who had died a week before at 85 years old. Jennifer had initially publicized her father’s passing by posting a tribute to him on Instagram, which mentioned how kind, strong, and doting he was.

She also emphasized how much of an impactful life he led and spoke about the lasting legacy he created for his family, a legacy which was now passed down to Fin and their siblings.

As the middle child of three, Fin has an older sister, Violet Affleck, and a younger brother, Samuel Affleck. Though their parents separated in 2015 and officially divorced in 2018, they still get along well for the sake of their children.

In 2022, Ben married famous musician, Jennifer Lopez, blending both of their families with the addition of Jennifer’s twins Emme and Max Muñiz. Like their stepsibling Fin, whom they share a great relationship with, Emme uses they/them pronouns.

Fin’s new name is a big change from their original name, Seraphina, which means “ardent” and “fiery” in Hebrew. It is also commonly used as a nickname for names like Finegan, Serafin, and Finian. Drawing back to Fin’s journey of self-discovery, in them boldly asserting how they want to be addressed, Fin follows the same path as many other celebrity kids. This path sees them choose how they want to tell their own stories about who they are.

Though their name might be new, this change is not the first time Fin has boldly embraced their self-identity. On February 11, 2024, they were seen rocking a vibrant hairstyle, exhibiting another form of self-expression.

They debuted a pink buzz cut, igniting a spectrum of reactions on social media. The change was revealed during a family outing in West Hollywood.

While Fin wore a flannel shirt with a T-shirt underneath and Adidas sneakers, Emme opted for shorts, a baggy hoodie, and Converse sneakers.

Others expressed concerns about youth trends, with remarks such as, “They are destroying the youth in society today. Unfortunately, the parents are allowing it to happen.”

Some comments, however, celebrated this phase of exploration, stating, “Totally normal youth behavior. Just deal,” and “I love her hair!”

Personal anecdotes were also shared, with individuals recounting their own or their children’s experiences during adolescence, highlighting the variety of ways young people express themselves. In this regard, someone else explained, “My daughter dressed like a Tomboy at that age and so did I.”

Though their hair color was new, the teen was spotted sporting a buzz cut a few days earlier, on February 9, 2024. Fin was photographed while waiting for their school bus with their mom.

Photos shared online showed Fin wearing jeans, a beige sweater, and an olive-colored backpack, sporting a buzz cut.

This edgy hairstyle change came after the teenager, who also wore earphones, was seen with a bob late last year. Images of Fin, born on January 6, 2009, prompted diverse comments from the public.

Of the young adolescent’s appearance, one person noted, “She looks like her dad with that shaved hair.” Similarly, another reiterated, “She looks like her father.” Someone else stated, “Sad what happened to this kid.”

Other social media users praised Fin’s hair, citing their opinions that they look good with a buzz cut. In this regard, one fan gushed, “It looks so cute on her!! So many women shave their heads in fashion.”

An admirer swooned, “Very adorable 💜.” Another social media user expressed, “Paying homage to Demi Moore! Showing her own style! I say a little color will make it pop!”

Although Fin, whose doting parents revealed their lovely name to media outlets seven days after they were born, has garnered significant traction online, they do not have a social media account. This decision was previously discussed by Garner, who has kept her children off of social media.

In 2023, Jennifer shared a conversation she had with her children. The “13 Going on 30” star divulged, I just said to my kids, ‘Show me the articles that prove that social media is good for teenagers, and then we’ll have that conversation.‘”

Jennifer went on to say that so far, her eldest daughter, Violet, has been appreciative of her mom’s decision not to allow them on social media.

As a mother of two kids in their teens and with a son on the verge of teenagehood, the loving mom understands how “hard” it is “to be an adolescent.”

As far as how Violet, Fin, and Samuel’s doting dad feels about social media, the “Air” talent previously expressed, “I got to a place where [the public perception] was so different from who I am that I just stopped reading and stopped caring.”

However, Ben also spoke about the difficulty he experiences as his children get older and get more exposed to the internet. He specifically mentioned the false rhetoric that he is miserable based on pictures of his facial expressions.

Amazon gains control of James Bond franchise after 63 years in landmark deal

Amazon MGM Studios ‘will gain creative control’ of 007

A new deal on the future of the James Bond franchise has been struck, with Amazon MGM Studios poised to ‘gain creative control’ of the 63-year-old movie series.

The BBC reports that, while Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson will ‘remain co-owners of the franchise’, creative control will go to the tech and streaming giant.

Since the release of Dr. No back in 1962, the James Bond franchise has been helmed by Eon Productions, Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, and then Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

However, the BBC’s report says that creative control will now pass to Amazon MGM Studios, which may have a significant impact on the future of one of cinema’s most iconic characters.

In a statement Wilson said: “With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects.

“Therefore, Barbara and I agree, it is time for our trusted partner, Amazon MGM Studios, to lead James Bond into the future.”

Broccoli said: “My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father, producer Cubby Broccoli.

“I have had the honour of working closely with four of the tremendously talented actors who have played 007 and thousands of wonderful artists within the industry.

“With the conclusion of No Time to Die and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects.”

Amazon’s purchase of MGM Studios a few years back gave them the right to release Bond movies, but there hasn’t been a film since the 2021 flick No Time To Die brought an end to the Daniel Craig era.

Since then, 007 has been in limbo with a long wait for a new Bond actor and an idea on what the next step for the franchise would be.

007 has raked in billions at the box office and is one of the most bankable properties in the business, but the way James Bond is handled now that creative control has been handed over will have a lot of attention on it.

Amazon did release the gameshow 007: Road to a Million in 2022, which saw teams of people race around the world taking on challenges in the hopes of winning a cash prize.

Last year, the Wall Street Journal reported that James Bond faced ‘a new kind of peril’ and claimed that the historical custodians of the franchise and the new Amazon owners were a ‘decaying partnership’, with disagreements over whether to turn the James Bond franchise into a content machine and claims that during one meeting an Amazon employee said they ‘don’t think James Bond is a hero’.

Perhaps this change will see some movement on a franchise which seems to have stalled out, but whether it becomes something different to what audiences have been used to remains to be seen.

The former Spanish football head was found guilty of the act

Former Royal Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has been found guilty of kissing player Jennifer Hermoso without her consent.

The former La Liga defender was also one of UEFA’s vice-presidents before resigning in September 2023, following the scandal with Hermoso.

Rubiales was ordered to pay a fine over €10,000 (£8,274) by Spain’s High Court, though he was acquitted of coercion.

Prosecutors demanded a prison sentence for the ex-Levante player, who made 53 appearances in the Spanish top flight.

Rubiales had already been banned from all football activities for three years from 2023 following the controversial kiss, according to FIFA.

The incident took place after Spain’s FIFA Women’s World Cup final victory over England, where they emerged 1-0 victors.

47-year-old Rubiales was congratulating Spanish players with their medals before the trophy presentation, when he kissed the 34-year-old national team top scorer without consent.

Hermoso, who now plays for Liga MX Femenil club Tigres UANL, also boasts the most Pichichi trophies in women’s football history.

She said during Rubiales’ trial in Madrid that she ‘never’ agreed to him kissing her on the lips, explaining that it ‘tainted one of the happiest days’ in her life.

Rubiales was accused of sexual assault, and for attempting to coerce Hermoso into stating that the kiss was consensual.

He continuously denied these charges, saying that it was consensual and it took place during a ‘moment of jubilation’.

However, the Spanish striker repeatedly said the opposite, insisting that it was not consensual.

The incident proved to be a pivotal moment for Spain’s female players to point on sexism in the sport and seek equality with the male team.

Hermoso claimed that she ‘felt disrespected’ in court, adding: “I didn’t hear or understand anything,” recalling, “The next thing he did was to grab me by the ears and kiss me on the mouth.”

She said: “I knew I was being kissed by my boss and that should not happen in any social or work environment.

“I think it was a moment that tainted one of the happiest days of my life.

“All this meant I couldn’t enjoy at all being a world champion after I landed back in Madrid.”

The fallout following the scandal led to a boycott of both the men’s and women’s national teams, which sparked protests across the nation.

They demanded ‘a sport free of sexist violence’, while Rubiales said she was the target of a ‘witch hunt’ by people she described as ‘false feminists’.

Jeremy Clarkson is set to star in a car show that’s not Top Gear or The Grand Tour

In recent years, the former Top Gear man has made a name for himself in the agricultural world since taking over the running of the £13 million rated Diddly Squat Farm, with the rest of the world watching on via Amazon Prime Video and its critically acclaimed documentary series, Clarkson’s Farm.

Returning in May 2025 for series four, millions more are expected to tune in to the next instalment which is bound to focus on the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter’s venture to buy a pub close to his farm through which he could sell his produce.

But before then, Jezza is set to return to a focus of all things cars through an appearance in a new series of Car SOS.

And it’s an appearance which will surprise viewers, according to its host Tim Shaw.

Speaking about the appearance, Shaw said industry people told him that the tractor driver was ‘very unlikely to take part in the show’.

But low and behold, the motoring journalist will appear on the new season of the National Geographic car renovation show when it returns in just a few weeks time in what Shaw called ‘one of the kindest gestures we’ve ever had from any celebrity’.

On the bid to get the 64-year-old involved in the new outing, Shaw said: “The general sentiment was, ‘good luck with that’. But I figured it was worth a shot. Even though it was a busy time for Jeremy on the farm, I reached out to his long-time assistant and explained the story behind the car.

“It was an all-or-nothing request, ‘could we come to his home and reveal the car to its owner?’. To my surprise, she got back to me almost immediately after speaking with Jeremy – and the answer was yes. We were all totally stunned.

“But it didn’t stop there. Not only did he agree, but he was happy for us to bring a full coach load of people, literally the kind of coach you see barrelling down the motorway. We had the entire family there, and when you see the size of the group, you realise just how generous this offer was.”

Shaw continued: “I mean, think about it, 60 strangers turning up at your property. The Car SOS team and I were even invited into his kitchen for a chat before the big reveal.

“We spent about half an hour with him, and he was warm, friendly, and, of course, typically sarcastic and funny.

“But what might surprise the Jeremy Clarkson sceptics is just how accommodating and kind he was. He genuinely cared about the wellbeing of both the team and, most importantly, the car’s owner.”

Car SOS will return to National Geographic on 13 March, with Clarkson’s appearance taking place in episode five.

The focus of Clarkson’s segment on the show will be an improved Land Rover Discovery Series 1 vehicle owned by the former Top Gear man.

Other celebrities in the new season include Mike Brewer and Johnny Vegas.

Jack Black explains what the 'D' means in Tenacious D leaving fans gobsmacked

Jack Black said they asked an audience to name the band

If you’ve been puzzling over how the band Tenacious D came up with the name Tenacious D, then today is your lucky day.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass formed the band after becoming friends as part of The Actors’ Gang theatre troupe and buddying up on a trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

What they really struggled with was coming up with a name for their band as they went through a few, including Responsive Chord and The Axe Lords Featuring Gorgazon’s Mischief.

They finally settled on a name about 31 years ago after a performance in the summer of 1994 where they played ‘Tribute’ and asked the audience to vote on what their name should be.

Among the options people went for were Pets or Meat and Balboa’s Biblical Theater, but another suggestion was ‘Tenacious D’ and while it didn’t get the most votes Black said ‘we forced it through’ as it ended up being their favourite.

As for what the name actually means, it originates from the world of basketball commentary.

In an New York Times interview with Jack Black it was explained that basketball commentator Marv Albert used to refer to strong defending from basketball players as ‘tenacious dee’, and that’s where the band name sprung from.

Black explained further a few years later to Grantland how the idea for Tenacious D first went on the table.

He said: “We were deep into the Lakey lakes [LA Lakers] in the late 80s and early 90s, and we were jamming a lot at Kyle’s apartment and watching basketball and jamming and getting high, and we were thinking ‘what would be the best name for a band?’

“And for some reason we were laughing so hard at the idea of a band being called Tenacious D.

“[Marv Albert] would say ‘playing some tenacious defense’, I don’t know if he ever said ‘tenacious d’, we might have made that abbreviation for him. I just think we were really stoned.”

Of course this is all just a smokescreen to distract you from the truth that Jack Black was born with the birthmark ‘Tenac’ on his right buttcheek, and Kyle Gass has a birthmark saying ‘ious D’ on his left buttcheek.

The band name originated from basketball commentary (Josh Brasted/FilmMagic)

The band name originated from basketball commentary (Josh Brasted/FilmMagic)

As shown in the entirely factual documentary Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, the band actually got its name when the two performers discovered each other’s birthmarks and put their butts together to form the band name.

It was also very fortunate for our planet that they were able to defeat Satan by redirecting his lightning back at him, which is absolutely a thing that happened.

Speaking in the same interview that explained the basketball commentary origin of the band name, Jack Black said: “What’s important is we got a movie about the D made, and we got to make it the way we wanted.”

By the way, if you’re wondering what ‘the greatest song in the world’ that Tenacious D were singing about in ‘Tribute’ is, apparently the inspiration comes from the song ‘One’ by Metallica.

Black and Gass said they’d heard the song and tried in vain to write something better than it and ended up making a tune about how it’s really hard to have a clear answer of what the greatest song in the world is, as the best they could do was a tribute.

Julia Wandelt was arrested yesterday after flying to the UK

A 23-year-old Polish woman who went viral online after claiming to be missing child Madeleine McCann has been arrested after flying in to the UK.

According to MailOnline, Julia Wandelt had flown into Bristol from the Polish city of Wroclaw yesterday (19 February) and was reportedly planning on meeting a friend in Cardiff.

However Wandelt and her friend, who is said to be in her 60s, were arrested by police upon the Polish national’s arrival into the country.

Leicestershire police has confirmed that two women were arrested after landing in Bristol, with a force spokesperson issuing the following statement to LADbible: “Last night (Wednesday 19 February) two women were arrested at Bristol Airport as part of an ongoing investigation.

“A 23-year-old woman from Poland and a 60-year-old woman from Wales were arrested on suspicion of stalking involving serious alarm/distress. They both remain in custody and enquiries are continuing.”

The spokesperson added that the two women are yet to be formally charged.

Leicestershire Police’s statement comes after Wandelt’s representative Surjit Singh Clair revealed the news of her arrest to MailOnline with the following statement: “I’m trying to find out what’s happened but it appears Julia has been arrested at Bristol Airport this evening just after she got off the plane.

“The police have reportedly arrested her on an allegation of stalking and harassing the McCanns.”

Wandelt became famous online in February 2023 after appearing on Instagram under the handle @IAmMadeleineMcCann.

Three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from her family’s hotel apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz region in 2007, with her story going on to become one of the most famous missing person’s cases in modern history.

Numerous theories about what happened to the Leicestershire toddler have emerged over the years, however no concrete evidence has been found in regards to her disappearance.

After making the account Wandelt would go on to do a number of interviews regarding her claims to be missing Maddie, including an appearance on Dr Phil.

Wandelt also appeared on an episode of Break The Ice podcast to claim that she had similar scars to the missing child as well as memories about the abduction.

However a DNA test taken by the 23-year-old later revealed that she was in fact ‘100% Polish’.

Wandelt’s legal representative and psychic medium, Dr. Fia Johansson, previously told Radar Online that Wandelt had undertaken a DNA test in 2023 and the results disproved any links between her and the McCann family.

“The results of this test showed that she is absolutely 100 percent from Poland,” Dr Johansson said.

“She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian, but the test results show she is Polish.”

Wandelt later apologised to Kate and Gerry McCann in January 2024, stating that she ‘never meant to hurt anyone’.

Drake fans slammed as 'genuinely dystopian' photo taken at his Australian show goes viral

“It’s as if he’s playing to the GoFundMe website”

People are questioning whether or not Drake has any genuine fans after seeing the signs displayed at one of his Australian concerts.

Fans holding up signs in hopes of catching their idol’s attention isn’t anything new at concerts, however it’s the nature of the requests which are raising eyebrows online.

The Canadian rapper’s Australian tour seems to have made it into the headlines for every reason but music, with the 38-year-old seemingly rumbled by fans for his role in a drone video promoting a gambling company.

In this story, Drake had finally made it onstage to perform, only to be overshadowed by fan behaviour at his Sydney show.

An image shared on social media by Complex, taken from behind the singer, showed fans of the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker begging for cash to pay for holidays, cars, hospital bills and more.

Examples of Drake’s fans begging for money

“Help me buy an engagement ring,” read one of the signs, while another fan held up the following message: “Papi help pay off my mum’s mortgage.”

The picture has since gone viral online as people were shocked to see the shameless behaviour from fans.

“Do they like his music or are they all just there begging for money,” one person replied to the image.

“When did signs become just people asking for s**t,” a second person wrote, while a third added: “It’s as if he’s playing to the GoFundMe website.”

“All they do is look at me, see me as opportunity,” another penned, referencing a lyric in Drake’s recent song ‘When He’s Gone’ with PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Why do Drake fans ask for money at concerts?

In all fairness to Drake’s fanbase, they didn’t all wake up one morning and decide to be cheeky en masse — as the rapper previously decided it was in God’s plan to hand out fistfuls of cash to lucky souls in the right place at the right time.

In his Anita Max Win tour across Oceania alone he’s promised $30,000 and VIP seats to a pregnant woman he spotted in the standing area as well as handing about another $30,000 to a fan hoping to quit their job at McDonalds.

Which equals around £23,783 or £15,165, depending on whether Drake is signing checks in American or Australian dollars.

This isn’t including the one lucky couple who decided the concert was the perfect spot for a romantic proposal, as Drake congratulated the pair with a free honeymoon and $25,000 for good measure.

Proving that it does pay to be cheeky sometimes.

Encouraged by Drake or not, the idea of fans attending a concert with the hopes of coming away with more money in their pockets still paints a grim image of the state of our music industry, summed up by one fan who wrote: “Drake aside (literally replace him with any celeb), this is one of the most genuinely dystopian photographs I’ve seen in recent months.”
