If you’ve ever wondered what the world looks like from a polar bear’s perspective, this incredible footage can give you a good insight.

Scientists said they were left ‘amazed’ after examining the 115 hours of video they captured while strapping cameras to the animals as they roamed around Canada.

As well as giving us a deeper understanding of what it’s like to move around on all fours, the clips also highlighted how clever these creatures really are.

The thing is, this species have been hit hard by the effects of climate change over the last few years and are now considered as ‘vulnerable’ by the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group.

Vast amounts of sea ice are melting due to global warming, which poses quite the problem to polar bears, as they use the frozen sheets as stepping stones to score some lunch.

Due to the fact the animals’ primary food source is seals, the lack of sea ice really throws a spanner in the works when it comes to their survival.

According to the WWF, polar bears also use sea ice to ‘rest, breed, and store energy for the summer and autumn, when food can be scarce’.

It’s now melting earlier in the spring and forming later in the autumn in the bears’ southern range, the organisation warned, in spots such as Hudson Bay and James Bay in Canada.

And the impact of this is worrying, to say the least.

“For every week earlier that the ice breaks up in Hudson Bay, bears come ashore roughly 22 pounds lighter and in poorer condition,” the WWF said.

Polar bears are being forced to spend more time on land as a result of the melting sea ice, but food high in calories is hard to come by for the animals – hence their dramatic weight loss.

So, to get to the bottom of how the polar bears were dealing with this life-and-death dilemma, scientists strapped cameras to 20 of them who were wandering around Hudson Bay.

The team scoured through more than 100 hours of footage captured over a three-year period, which showed the creatures eating, sleeping, hunting and having fun.

They were seen feeding on bird carcasses, chowing down on berries and grass, feasting on marine animals, as well as play-fighting with each other in the water and chewing on antlers.

Anthony Pagano, wildlife biologist at the US Geological Survey (USGS) and leader of the study, previously told Vox about the findings: “We were amazed by the video footage.

“The video footage really highlighted how intelligent these animals are by using different behaviour strategies to survive their time on land while without access to their primary prey.”

Before the study, scientists presumed that polar bears might be coping with prolonged periods on land by resting to save energy, or filling up on other prey such as plants and seabirds.

The footage and other data collected by boffins – such as the amount of energy burned and measurements of movement – suggests that the predators actually did both, with some heading out in search for food and others opting to have a little lie down instead.

Despite the split in approaches among the polar bears, sadly neither was successful – and all but one of the 20 subjects lost weight.

Alarmingly, one even lost nearly 80 pounds.

Scientists also found that polar bears were taking longer swims in search of food, which is ‘unexpected for this time of year’, according to polar expert at the University of Alberta Andrew Derocher.

Derocher further explained: “These are possibly acts of desperation. Hungry and skinny bears take more risks than fat bears.”

Essentially, eating berries and smaller prey isn’t enough to tide a polar bear over.

“This study really brings home the message that there’s no salvation from terrestrial feeding to help polar bears through the ice-free period,” Derocher added.

The polar bear population in this area is estimated to have fallen 30 percent since 1987, and this study appears to prove that global warming will continue to make it even harder for the species to survive.

Conan, who has been hosting the hilarious The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien on NBC for years is going through a heart break like no other.

Just days ago on Monday December 9, Dr Thomas O’Brien, 95, passed away after ‘his health had been failing’, as per The Boston Globe.

Then, on Thursday 12 December, his mother Ruth, 92, died ‘peacefully’ at home.

The Bell-O’Dea Funeral Home in Brookline, Mass wrote an obituary for Ruth, which read: “O’Brien, Ruth Reardon of Brookline passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2024, at age 92. Beloved wife of sixty-six years to Thomas Francis O’Brien, M.D., who passed away on December 9th, 2024.”

Thomas was a world-renowned microbiologist who campaigned for antimicrobial resistance strains of bacteria, long before it was widely known to the public.

Ruth served as the vice president of the student government and became the second woman to be a partner at the law firm Ropes & Gray.

She met Thomas in 1958 through her brothers, who were his classmates, and the rest was history.

O’Brien has been dealing with a heartbreaking time, and paid tribute to his dad in an interview with the Boston Globe, which was published on Thursday, saying: “Science has said there’s no such thing as perpetual motion, but my father was proof that that was wrong.

“My father was in constant motion. And he was interested in everything – absolutely everything … The loudest I’ve ever heard anybody laugh was sitting next to him in a theater watching Peter Sellers in a Pink Panther movie … He was often the funniest guy in the room. And when he would laugh, his whole body would convulse and he would almost hug himself.

“For the rest of my time on earth I will be hearing from people who want to talk with me about my dad. I’ve never met anyone like him, and he happens to be my father.

“If I met him randomly in a hotel lobby, I’d think: ‘Who the hell is this guy? He’s the most interesting person I’ve ever met’.”

As for his mother, he previously explained a hilarious memory he had of her at a Christmas party involving Jim Carrey.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on the Virgin Radio show earlier this year, he said: “Years and years ago I had a Christmas party at my house.

“This was at the height of Jim Carrey mania, you know, he was coming off of his fourth massive hit film, and it was like The Beatles … Everywhere Jim Carrey went there was a riot …

“Out of the corner of my eye, I see my mother having a long chat with Jim Carrey, and I got nervous. When the party was over, I said: ‘Mom, what were you talking to that man about? Jim?’

“And she said: ‘Oh … he told me that he’s a comedian, and I told him: ‘Well my son’s had his difficulties but he just keeps at it, and eventually made it. So if you just keep at it Jim, you’re gonna make it too’.

“And I said to her: ‘Mom, I want you to go home to Boston and tell everyone you told Jim Carrey to keep at it!”

Thomas and Ruth will have a shared funeral in Boston on December 18.

The woman who has accused Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13 alongside Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at an afterparty stands by her allegations, but admits she’s made ‘some mistakes’ in her statement.

Combs has been behind bars since September following sex trafficking charges in which he was accused of using his ‘power and prestige’ to drug sex workers during his alleged ‘Freak Off’ parties.

He has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution and is scheduled to face trial in May 2025. The musician has denied all of the charges and has pleaded not guilty.

He also made three applications to be released on bail, but they have all been denied, according to ABC 7.

Over 120 accusers have come forward to make allegations against Combs.

Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee – who is representing the accusers – claimed the lawsuits were from 60 males and 60 females, with 25 of them being minors at the time.

However, earlier this week, a civil lawsuit which originally named Combs was refiled to also name Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – after a woman claimed that he raped her at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000 along with Combs.

While Jay-Z, 55, denied the ‘heinous’ claims in a statement, the woman maintains her accusation, but has now admitted that she has had certain inconsistencies in her story and made ‘some mistakes’ when recalling the events of the night in question.

However, her lawyer will continue to vet her version of events.

As for Jay-Z, he claimed to have been targeted in a blackmail scheme.

He wrote in a statement via his Roc Nation Twitter account: “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.

“What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.

“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!

“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!

“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”

Calling the lawyer ‘a deplorable human’, he went on to say that he is ‘more than prepared to deal with your type’.

Claiming that his ‘only heartbreak is for my family’, he described that these allegations meant that he and his wife, Beyoncé, ‘will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people’.

Jay-Z then shared that his ‘heart and support goes out to true victims in the world, who have to watch how their life story is dressed in costume for profitability by this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit’.

However, he maintains his innocence, sharing that the lawyer has ‘made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all “celebrities” are the same’ as he explained that his struggle to come out of life in Brooklyn means that he and those like him have ‘very strict codes and honour’ where they ‘protect children’.

He ended it by saying: “I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”

Buzbee has said that claims he is blackmailing Jay-Z are ‘stupid and laughable’.

There’s no doubt that the streaming giant absolutely crushes its true crime content, whether they’re re-examining cold cases like the murder of JonBenet Ramsey or retelling a mom’s ‘gut wrenching’ search for her daughter.

But Netflix’s latest offering is so unbelievable, it sounds like a complete work of fiction – but it isn’t.

The three-parter retells the story of an Elvis impersonator, who was wrongly accused of attempting to poison Barack Obama.

Paul Curtis’ life was derailed when he was arrested in 2013 after ricin-laced letters were sent to the former president and two other US officials.

The deadly poison – made from the waste left when castor beans are made into castor oil – takes just three days to kill, inducing vomiting, bloody diarrhea and kidney damage.

Famous in his hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi as one half of an Elvis tribute double-act with his brother, Paul was also a passionate campaigner for a rather unusual subject.

In 1999, while working in a hospital morgue, he learned about body parts being illegally trafficked and sold.

Paul advocated against this, becoming vocal on social media and even drafting a bill proposal to ban the sale of body parts in Mississippi.

This was only used to frame him for the poisoned letters, though – as the new ’10/10′ documentary series Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Drama explains.

If you’ve ever thought about putting your car in reverse suddenly while driving really quickly, then the good news is one guy has done it for you to find out what happens.

Putting your car into reverse at 50mph isn’t something any of us ever have to do – but it does look like fun.

YouTuber ‘Auto Vlog’ has taken one for the team with the risky challenge, as he decided to carry out the experiment you’ve been itching to try.

His previous challenges have included, er, filling a car with vodka – although you might not want to do that one.

He’s also tried the reversing at speed thing several times before, with a new and old automatic car.

The bad news is, the car had enough failsafes built in to stop him from doing it.

Sensible, but spoilsports all the same.

The creator confessed: “This is a completely non-scientific experiment…I just want to find out what happens!”

This time around he tried a different tactic, and found a rusty manual vehicle to try the challenge out with instead.

It very nearly seemed like he would fail again, as the gearstick makes it difficult to shift into reverse while you’re driving (for hopefully obvious reasons).

Determined, the YouTuber shoved the stick with both arms to force it to go in reverse.

The result is a terrifying sound as the car ground to a halt, with the unsurprising amount of friction leading to a whole lot of smoke. Oops.

“This truck is awesome!” he yells joyously when it allows him to do it.

At one point he thought he’d damaged the transmission before realising it had just stalled.

Unsatisfied with the result, the vlogger was insistent on trying the experiment again, with yet more varying degrees of success.

One commenter joked: “Him: We gotta do that again! Clutch: P l e a s e n o.”

Another YouTuber replied: “This guy just solved my life’s biggest question.”

“I asked my dad what would happen when he puts the car into reverse while driving fast,” said one person. “He said look at YouTube there are enough stupid people to try it.”

Good point well made.

Definitely don’t try this one at home.

Liziane Gutierrez said she spent a month in jail for filming a policeman in Marrakesh.

But before being admitted to the women’s prison, the Brazilian influencer said she was forced to undergo a genital inspection to prove she’s not a transsexual.

Sharing her disturbing experience, Gutierrez said: “The jail was a nightmare when I first got there. They thought I was a transsexual, so I had to open my legs in front of two women and two men.”

“I never felt so humiliated in my life,” she went on.

“And they were looking up inside me like a doctor or whatever, and I was just crying.”

When they realized that she was ‘actually a woman’, law enforcement put her in a women’s prison.

Gutierrez suspects that had she been trans, they would have placed her in a male prison.

The model, who boasts 1.5 million Instagram followers, said her nightmare began when her bag was swiped outside her hotel in Marrakesh on October 30, with her phone and her husband’s work phone inside.

But her husband still had his personal phone, so the couple tried to track their stolen devices.

The next day, a location pinged for one of the stolen phones, and they rushed to the nearest policeman to urge him to act.

She continued: “We saw these guys with the police car near the hotel and we went to contact them.

“And we don’t speak Arabic, we don’t speak French, so I was trying to communicate in English and with Google Translate.

“They were just ignoring us, so I grabbed the phone and I started to record them, to show to people: if you’re a tourist in Marrakesh and you need police, they’re just going to ignore you.

“When I did that, they handcuffed me and my husband, and they threw us in a police car and took us to the police station.”

The Brazilian embassy confirmed that she was arrested to Leo Dias, a celebrity news website in her home country.

Her husband was released after one night after agreeing to hand over the password to his phone, which was used to record the officers.

But the influencer’s ordeal was just beginning.

Gutierrez was soon moved to a holding facility which she called ‘complete hell’.

She said: “In the little room, it was supposed to be like no more than 10 girls, and it was 20 girls.

“There were bugs everywhere, flies everywhere.

“There was no ventilation, but people were smoking inside that room. Some people stayed there for like a week. How? I have no clue.”

A day and a half later, she was transferred to a large prison where she would remain until a month after her arrest.

For Gutierrez, it was her most awful travel experience – even above her journeys to North Korea and war-torn Ukraine.

She said: “I know that I’m not a person that is easy to deal with. But at that time, I did nothing wrong. I was just trying to get help.

“I was in a country that didn’t speak good English, I don’t know nobody there but my husband, so I was just trying to look for help.”

The Moroccan authorities have been contacted for comment.

The TNT show has been running for 17 seasons and is hosted by retired basketball star O’Neal, Ernie Johnson Jr., Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley.

Barkley stopping Smith in his tracks as he name dropped Jay-Z comes after the rapper was recently accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in 2000.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has vehemently denied the claims.

A statement from rapper was shared to social media after news of the allegations broke.

Part of it reads: “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.

“What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.

Buzbee himself later responded to this and insisted that his client has not requested any money.

Buzbee is representing the 120 people who have come forward with allegations about Diddy since his arrest in New York in September.

The lawyer vowed to ‘expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors’.

He added: “The biggest secret in the entertainment industry, that really wasn’t a secret at all, has finally been revealed to the world. The wall of silence has now been broken.”

Amid Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – being accused of raping a teenage girl in a lawsuit filed on December 8, a clip of Rihanna talking about the music producer has resurfaced online.

The lawsuit accuses Carter of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs after an awards show over two decades ago.

Combs is currently facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution – charges he’s continued to deny.

Carter has since denied the allegations that came to light last Sunday, accusing the lawyer who filed the lawsuit of making a ‘terrible error in judgement’ thinking that all ‘celebrities are the same’.

In the wake of the lawsuit, a video has resurfaced of Rihanna during an appearance on The Tyra Banks Show in 2005 being asked about her audition with Carter.

Rihanna auditioned for Carter’s Def Jam Recordings at the age of 16 and explained she was ‘so nervous’ before meeting the producer.

She continued: “I was shaking. But the moment i walked into the office the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming.”

The musician sang an acapella version of ‘Pon de Replay’ for Carter and he allegedly responded, saying they ‘don’t sign songs here’ they ‘sign artists’ but added they were ‘interested’ in Rihanna.

However, it’s what Carter reportedly said next which has left social media users feeling uneasy.

Rihanna recalled: “He said, ‘There are two ways to leave here. You go through the door with the deal signed or through this window, and we’re on the 29th floor’.

And it’s not taken long for people to flock online to weigh-in.

Nicole Kidman has revealed she walked away with a few war wounds after filming intense scenes for her upcoming erotic thriller.

The Australian actor, 57, said she was covered in bruises ‘all over’ her body after shooting some intimate moments with her co-star Harris Dickinson, 28.

The pair then went on to discuss how they try to leave the emotional baggage of their characters on set, rather than taking it home with them.

Kidman continued: “My brain would say, ‘Hold on. You’re hurt’.”

“So I’ve done things where they clean my chakras and pray and get out the sage,” the A Family Affair actor said.

“Honestly, I’ll take whatever so I can step into the next place free, and not scarred or damaged or wounded. Which sounds like I’m bats**t crazy, but I’m not.

“Even just a massage, where suddenly you get a beautiful touch. That’s healing, and we have to heal.

“I’m still learning not to sacrifice my body for the sake of the art, because part of me wants to. Having to value who I am, it’s a journey.”

But make no bones about it, Kidman is still buzzing that she is taking centre stage in Babygirl.

“And so much of it is the chemistry. [Director Halina Reijn] was like, ‘What about Harris Dickinson?'”

The former model, 52, spoke out about her health issues on social media after she announced on Instagram that she was returning to Cameo after dealing with them for ‘over a year’.

Fans flooded to share their well-wishes for Glanville, and now doctor and TV personality Dr. Terry Dubrow has joined in sharing his concerns.

In an interview with TMZ, the doctor suggested Glanville’s health issues are related to a microorganism which may have made its way into her bloodstream through an injection.

Dubrow didn’t specify what kind of injection could result in such symptoms, but Glanville has insisted they’re not the result of plastic surgery.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I’m so sick of the narrative that I’m sitting around having plastic surgery all the time. First of all, I couldn’t afford it if I wanted it. Secondly, no.

“This is why I’m sitting at home. This is why I’m not on red carpets. Because I don’t want to go out like this.”

Dubrow suggested Glanville go back to the doctor for a ‘proper diagnosis’, warning otherwise she could be a ‘ticking time bomb’.

“Brandi needs a diagnosis, she has to figure out if there’s a microorganism in there,” he said.

Dubrow detailed two different types of microorganisms, a microbacterium and a fungus, and stressed that they can be tough and time-consuming to treat and that they can cause more damage the longer they go without treatment.

“Every minute that that microorganism is allowed in her skin and do potential damage, she could suffer worse for it, it could be more difficult to treat and she could form more scars,” the doctor said.

Dubrow also offered Glanville to reach out to him if she needed additional help.
