DVD or Blu-Ray of one of the most iconic 2000s movies is now worth a lot of money

I knew there was a reason I kept clinging to my DVDs for so long…

Turns out nostalgically hoarding all of your old DVD and Blu-Ray devices may’ve actually been worth it.

Do you remember the good old days where you used to go to a video store after school to pick out a movie to rent, having your friends over for a sleepover and maybe even treating yourself to a bag of popcorn or Häagen-Dazs ice cream?

Yep, you’re old. However, as sad as it is those days are now so far behind us, I have potential good news for you if you couldn’t bear to part ways with your DVDs – clinging onto them in a desperate bid to stay connected to your childhood – because there may be one in your collection which is actually worth a lot of money.

And this film isn’t some niche indie film that flew under the radar, it is widely considered one of the greatest in its genre.

The unfortunate truth is, despite this, in some countries you can’t stream it on any platform and you can’t buy the disks on Blu-Ray as they’re out of production.

You might be able to cop a disk if you searched on eBay but you then might have to fork over a fortune to get your hands on the disks.

Danny Boyle’s 2002 zombie apocalypse flick 28 Days Later is one hell of a film, but if you were of a mind to go and watch it now you’d hit something of a brick wall.

So you can see where we are going with this. Is it on Netflix? Nope. Depending on your country you might be able to catch it on Amazon’s Prime Video, but if you can’t, you could simply be out of luck.

So what do you do if you actually own a Blu-Ray disk of the film? Well, you can enjoy it to your hearts delight or you could look at selling it online.

If you bought it back in the day with the foresight that it would shoot up in worth, it is definitely your time to shine.

TikToker @unkn0wns0ldier11 laid out the situation, pointing out that someone over in the US was able to sell their copy for $110 because there’s no supply but demand still exists.

And it is for these very rare instances where stuff isn’t available digitally that I am such a fan of physical media.

So, go check your collection and see if you can turn over a lovely bit of profit selling the disk.

He claimed that he didn’t need much assistance after appearing in a number of intimate scenes

An actor that is famous primarily for being in several sex scenes in Netflix films has spoken about one shocking aspect of him shooting them.

Michele Morrone is best known for his breakout role in 365 Days, as well as its sequel, with the raunchy 2020 film getting a huge amount of attention for its explicit sex scenes and questionable script.

A different take on a genre that was made so popular by 50 Shades of Grey, Morrone thrived in the role, and is back playing a character with a bit more depth, but in similarly intimate scenes.

This time though, in a 2024 film that has also been distributed on Netflix, he stars opposite Megan Fox, who plays an android that looks to take control of the family, resorting to violence, after she has been hired to help around at home.

Titled Subservience, Fox is back with director SK Dale, who she worked with on Till Death, though communication between the actress and director became crucial when filming the initimate scenes between the robot and the father, played by Morrone.

The character turns to the robot for help at first when his wife falls sick, though this becomes a sexual relationship as time goes on, as the android goes as far as to blindfold Morrone’s character and put on his wife’s voice while getting hot and heavy.

Director Dale highlighted that a ‘safe environment’ was key when filming these scenes, in an interview with toofab.

In sex scenes, the actors would swap places while on top of Morrone, as his imagination took over while the android was doing the work, and explained that the scene was ‘like an action sequence and storyboarded it all out.’

Intimacy coordinators were used to ensure that everyone was comfortable, though Morrone recalled his experiences on the set of 365 Days, insisting that he ‘did not need’ one to Metro.

“I did not need an intimacy coordinator to help me… Of course, it’s an important person to have on set for the other actors and for people who work backstage, it helps us all, but personally, no, I don’t need anyone,” Morrone highlighted.

The actor went on: “I like to build up a character and a scene the way I imagined it in my mind and how I like to work the script.”

His wish didn’t come true on Subservience though, as intimacy coordinators are more or less a staple in modern-day Hollywood.

While Morrone said that prosthetics were used for scenes in 365 Days, it’s unclear how they were filmed in Subservience.

Dale went on to praise them in their involvement with the actors in the latter, saying: “What I really liked about the intimacy coordinators within the prep of it all was they would ask questions that were story driven.”

He recalled: “Like, ‘Okay, how aggressive is this intimate scene? How, how essential is it? Is there kissing? How, if there is kissing, is it kind of pashing [Australian slang for a passionate kiss] or just pecking?”

A frenzy of online detective work usually follows if a killer is on the loose but there’s an unusual silence in Brian Thompson’s case

Brian Thompson was assassinated in cold blood while walking the streets of New York. A case of this manner would usually garner support for cops in the form of some online detective work.

The UnitedHealthcare CEO was fatally shot three times from behind outside of the Hilton Hotel on Wednesday (December 4) at 6.46am in Manhattan, New York City – and the gunman remains at large.

The father-of-two was walking to an insurance conference hosted by his company when he was targeted by his killer, who was ‘lying in wait’ for around five minutes, the New York Police Department confirmed.

The 50-year-old’s assassin has since left breadcrumbs for the FBI of his movements prior to the attack as well as after it – including dumping a bag in Central Park with monopoly money and a jacket inside it.

Those breadcrumbs would usually entice internet sleuths to weigh in on the suspect’s whereabouts, but that just isn’t happening in this case.

Speaking about it per NBC News, assistant professor of computer science at Swarthmore College, Sukrit Venkatagiri explained why he believed there were fewer detectives on the hunt for Thompson’s alleged murderer.

“They don’t really empathize with who the victim is in this scenario,” he said.

“People are less motivated, from an altruistic perspective, to help this victim in this specific case.”

He suggested that the common folk found it difficult to resonate with a top official who was reportedly on a salary of $10 million.

While TikToker thatdanesguy, who has amassed two million followers on the social media platform for his internet detective work in helping to find people who have been racist online, amongst other things, explained his reasoning for opting out of working on the case.

In a three-minute video, he explained how UnitedHealthcare – which Thompson ran – denied just under a third of every claim made.

Adding: “I don’t have to encourage violence. I don’t have to condone violence by any means. But I also don’t have to help.”

Despite the rare silence from TikTokers on the case, a bounty has been placed on the killer’s head, with police stating any information leading to an arrest will result in a reward of $10,000.

Meanwhile, more information has now come out regarding the alleged murder weapon, which is believed to be a veterinarian gun typically used to put down farm animals.

It requires a reload after every single shot – which is what can be seen in the video of the murder.

Expert reveals gross reason why mosquitoes like some people a lot more than others

For some people, Mosquitoes can be almost impossible to avoid

No matter where you live in the world, it’s likely you’ve been bitten by a mosquito at some point.

There are thought to be around 110 trillion mosquitoes in the world, so it’s safe to say the insects are pretty much everywhere.

But mosquitoes don’t just bite you because they want to be annoying; they do it to get a so-called ‘blood meal’ deriving proteins from our blood to produce their eggs.

While all of us have blood flowing through our veins that will appeal to mozzies, there are additional factors that might make you more delicious to the flying bite machines.

Sweat

Sweat is one thing that can make you look juicier to a nearby mosquito. Female mosquitoes drink mammalian blood, and the best way to locate a mammal? Our sweat, of course.

Dermatologist Lindsey Zubritsky, who goes by @dermguru on TikTok, explained: “There’s actually a scientific reason for that mosquitoes are attracted to sweat and people who have a higher temperature particularly attracted to things like ammonia, uric acid, lactic acid, and so people who exercise quite a bit are more likely to get bit by mosquitoes.”

Drinking beer

Drinking a nice, cold brewski on a hot day could also draw mosquitoes your way.

“Other things that can make you more susceptible to mosquito bites is drinking a beer,” said Zubritsky. “A study found that just drinking 112-ounce cans of beer can make you more attractive to mosquitoes.”

Bacteria colonies

The types of bacteria on our skin can contribute towards the likelihood of you being bitten as well.

Zubritsky said: “The type and the number of bacteria that live on our skin can make us more or less attractive to mosquitoes also explained why we are more likely to get fit on the ankles because there’s more robust bacterial colonies in those areas.”

One thing you can do to avoid being bitten is to have very thick body hair. This actually creates a physical barrier and mosquitoes can sometimes struggle to get through.

Or, if you don’t fancy looking like Chewbacca on your next holiday, wearing long trousers can also keep you protected from any pesky mozzies.

Insect repellant can help too. Products with DEET in them are typically the best and can give as long as five hours-worth of protection.

Bet you feel itchy now.

Archaeologists believe they’ve discovered the real tomb of 'Santa Claus' but people are pointing out ‘hilarious’ detail

It’s hoped that the discovery will be ‘a significant archaeological confirmation of historical sources’

‘Santa Claus” tomb is believed to have been discovered in Turkey.

First thing to clear up is that it’s obviously not the real Santa Claus’ tomb, as he’s currently at the North Pole preparing to deliver presents to us all in time for December 25.

However, it is suspected that the tomb in question is that of Saint Nicholas, an early Christian bishop who inspired the Santa we know and love today.

For the last two years, archaeologists have been conducting a study of the Church of Saint Nicholas, which is located in the ancient city of Myra (which is now the modern town of Demre, Antalya, Turkey).

Recent excavations conducted in the church’s two-storey annex uncovered a limestone sarcophagus, Heritage Daily reports.

It measures at two meters long and was buried at a depth of 1.5 to 2 meters.

Speaking about the historic find, Associate Professor Ebru Fatma Findik from Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, said: “Our biggest hope is to find an inscription on the sarcophagus. This would help clarify the burial contents and allow us to determine the exact period it dates from.”

Findik added that ‘further excavation is expected to reveal more details in the coming months’.

Doubling down on how huge the discovery of the sarcophagus is, he went on: “This could be a significant archaeological confirmation of historical sources regarding the burial place of Saint Nicholas.”

A video of archeologists measuring the tomb has been distributed online, and it’s left everyone pointing out the same thing.

Noting the red and white striped tool that’s seen being used to measure it, one person on Twitter quipped: “Did they identify it by the giant candy cane that woman has?”

Someone else joked: “(Measuring the tomb with a candy cane yard stick) Yep this is santa alright.”

Archaeologists in Türkiye believe they have discovered the tomb of Saint Nicholas, famously known as Santa Claus 🇹🇷

“They measured it with a candy cane lmao,” echoed a third.

With this in mind, another person hailed the candy cane-like tool as ‘hilarious’.

A different person penned: “Lol she digging him up with a candy cane? On brand.”

Someone else said that ‘using a candy cane for measurements’ was ‘appropriate’ under the circumstances.

Another person questioned if there’s just milk and cookies in the tomb, and they could be right as there’s not actually any bones in there because Saint Nicholas’ remains are actually in a tomb in the crypt of the Basilica di San Nicola, Bari, Italy.

Italian merchants are said to have stolen the remains from Myra and taken them to Bari in 1087.

Man who spent 24 years in prison for murder he didn't commit gets sent back after horrifying confession

The multimillionaire made a shocking admission to his girlfriend – six years after being exonerated for a crime he did not commit

A man who spent 24 years behind bars for a false murder conviction before it was eventually overturned, has been sent back to prison, where he’ll spend the remainder of his life.

In November 1990, 78-year-old Puerto Rican businessman Domingo Martinez was robbed and murdered by way of a fatal shooting, and when the case went cold, they began to pin the blame on Shaurn Thomas.

Shaurn Thomas was wrongfully convicted of murder back in 1994 but since his release he has made a shocking confession (WPVI)

Four years later, in December 1994, a 20-year-old Thomas was wrongfully convicted of the murder and sentenced to life without parole – despite having a solid alibi to prove that he couldn’t have committed the crime.

The Innocence Project states that Thomas was already incarcerated in a juvenile jail at the time the murder was committed, and wasn’t released until later that day, when Martinez had already been murdered.

In 2017, at the age of 43, Thomas was finally exonerated thanks to the Innocence Project, and received a huge $4.1 million payout from the city of Philadelphia.

At the time he said per ABC News: “I don’t got no animosity towards nobody. What for? Life’s too short for that. You can’t get it back. I just move on forward. It’s a tragedy that happened to me, but I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.”

But it seems as though that money didn’t stretch too far, as six years later he employed one of his girlfriend’s childhood friends to sell drugs for him on the street.

Akeem Edwards took $1,200 worth of cocaine off of Thomas to sell for him, but never ended up giving him the money by January 3, 2023.

The millionaire was in the neighborhood with his girlfriend Ketra Veasy, who he met through former inmates, when he spotted the 38-year-old and jumped out the car.

Veasy then heard gunshots and Thomas hopped back into the car putting his gun in his waistband, and when he got inside, Veasy recalled how he told her ‘he’s hit, he’s down, just drive’.

On the drive back to their home in Delaware, Veasy explained how Thomas admitted that he had killed someone before.

Speaking in court, she said: “He said it’s his third homicide and he said he can’t go back to jail.”

Now, seven years on from his release, Thomas, aged 50, has confessed to the killing.

He has pled guilty to third-degree murder as well as other offences, and will be sentenced in February.

Judge Roxanne Covington couldn’t believe that Thomas, who is a multimillionaire, committed such a heinous act for such a small amount of money in comparison to his own bank account.

She asked: “Are these facts true?”

To which he replied: “Yes, your honor.”

Eminem appears to have removed controversial lyric from song in live performance after mum’s death

The rapper has removed a barbed lyric from a song during a recent live performance

Eminem’s mum, Debbie Nelson, passed away last week from complications of lung cancer at the age of 69 and it appears that the rapper is already trying to signify his remorse.

If you know anything about Eminem, you’ll know that his relationship with his mother was fraught.

In fact, the star has dissed Nelson in several songs over the years, including 2002’s Without Me.

However, during a recent concert at Abu Dhabi’s F1 Grand Prix, his performance of the song took out a line directed at his mother.

Whilst his fans continued to sing it, his decision to refrain said a lot about his intentions.

The line in question?

A simple ‘F**k you, Debbie.’

To say that the two of them had a strained relationship over the years would be putting it mildly.

At one point, Nelson even sued him for defamation after he called her out in one of his songs.

When she won $10 million in compensation, their divide deepened.

The offending line was from Eminem’s song My Name Is, in which he sang: “I just found out my mom does more dope than I do (Damn). I told her I’d grow up to be a famous rapper. Make a record about doin’ drugs and name it after her.”

In Cleanin’ Out My Closet, he went even further with his disdain for her, saying he hoped she would ‘burn in Hell’.

He also accused her of spiking his food with Valium as a child.

Reconciliation seemed to be possible after 2010, when Nelson was diagnosed with breast cancer.

He even released a song in 2013, in which he apologized to her.

Unfortunately, the truce didn’t last long and the two were back to feuding within a decade.

It’s not clear whether or not they made amends before her recent passing.

Nelson gave birth to Eminem, whose birth name was Marshall Mathers, when she was only 18 years old.

Due to her age, she struggled to keep a job.

This meant the family were constantly moving between Missouri and Michigan.

Nelson had repeatedly denied many of the accusations hurled at her by her famous son, including her alleged drug use.

At one point, she even tried her hand at musical messaging with the song ‘Dear Marshall’.

In it, she sang: “Dear Marshall, I just wanted to start by saying I still love you.

“Marshall, I did the best I could. I went without so you could have.”

However, it wasn’t all sweetness and light, as she made reference to creating a ‘spoilt and angry young man’.

It was a rocky relationship, but it has now come to an end.

TikTok star addresses Barry Keoghan cheating rumors after actor shared lengthy statement

The influencer claimed the rumors were ‘so ridiculous’

A TikTok star who sent rumors spiralling about allegedly cheating with Barry Keoghan has spoken out about the ‘ridiculous’ claims.

Despite reposting a TikTok claiming she was ‘home wrecking Sabrina Carpenter’s relationship’, Breckie Hill has shared a lengthy clip quashing the rumors.

Rumors claiming Keoghan, 32, had allegedly cheated on Carpenter, 25, after around a year of dating recently circulated online.

The pair seemed to be pretty serious about each other after he starred in the pop star’s ‘Please Please Please’ music video.

But when the rumors broke out, a source told Us Weekly that it had been ‘challenging’ to maintain the relationship while Carpenter was on tour, despite Keoghan being ‘very devoted to her happiness’.

After Hill reposted the ‘home wrecking’ clip, fans thought they had put two-and-two together, speculating that she was the woman who Keoghan allegedly cheated with.

However, in a video on TikTok, she revealed she only reposted the rumors because she found them ‘so ridiculous’.

Hill, 21, said: “I just recently got out of the hospital. I got into a skiing accident and I broke my spine.”

She continued: “Now that I’m out of the hospital, I just wanted to make this video and address these rumors that have been circulating all throughout the internet.

“To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry. I have never encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV from watching Saltburn.”

The influencer added: “I’m sorry but if I really was the one getting with Barry, why in the world would I be reposting about it? … Coming from someone who has been cheated on … I would never want to homewreck any relationship or put any girl through that pain – ever.”

Hill previously came under fire after she referred to a drink as ‘too salty’ which fans thought was a reference to Saltburn, a film which Keoghan starred in.

In the TikTok, she noted that she had ‘never gone through a worse time in her life’.

Hill also urged viewers to stop ‘tearing people down’.

Keoghan also released a lengthy statement calling out the ‘lies, hatred and disgusting commentary’ following his rumored split from Carpenter.

Taking to Twitter, the 32-year-old wrote: “I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond too.

“I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”

Keoghan added: “Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them. Thats crossing a line.

“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what.

“I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank u x.”

The Irish actor has a two-year-old son, Brando, with former partner Alyson Sandro.

James Franco explains how life has changed after being ‘cast out’ of Hollywood

James Franco stars in a new Italian drama film

Five years have passed since James Franco faced a lawsuit following accusations of sexual misconduct, and the once-Hollywood A-lister has now opened up about how drastically his life changed.

His name became synonymous with the film industry, mainly for his comedic performances in movies such as The InterviewPineapple Express and This is the End, but he also was nominated for an Oscar back in 2011 for his leading role in 127 Hours.

That life has long gone for the 46-year-old who admitted he is now trying to ‘move on’.

In many of the productions he’s featured in Seth Rogen has as well, they became an iconic duo but he too cut him off.

This came after Franco faced accusations of sexual misconduct in 2019 and at the time he claimed the allegations were ‘not accurate’ but that he didn’t want to ‘shut down’ those who ‘didn’t have a voice’.

The allegations came from two of his former students at Studio 4, his now-defunct film school, and he ended up settling the lawsuit by agreeing to pay them $2.23 million.

In December 2021, Franco confessed to sleeping with students at his acting school while appearing as a guest on The Jess Cagle Podcast, explaining that he was ‘wrong’ but that ‘it wasn’t a master plan’ – he didn’t plan to do it beforehand.

“Being told you’re bad is painful,” he said.

“But ultimately, that’s kind of what I needed to just stop going the way I was going.”

Now, speaking to Variety after his latest movie Hey Joe was just released in Italian cinemas, Franco spoke about being ‘cast out’ of Hollywood.

When asked if he thought the way he was treated was ‘unfair’, he replied: “I mean, it is what it is. I’ve honestly moved past it. It was dealt with, and I got to change.

“So that’s it, it’s over. I mean, I’ve worked in the US too. So I’m just trying to move on.”

The actor went on to explain how he used the timeout that was forced upon him to ‘pause’ and change his ‘priorities’ and now seeks alternative things to ‘fulfil him in life’.

“Ultimately, I think I’m kind of grateful because it did afford me a chance to just do whatever private work and really change what I need to change,” Franco added.

“So now that I am working, I can just be there for the project. It’s not about me trying to fill some hole with work, it’s just about, ‘Wow, I have a really great life. I’m very grateful, and I hope to serve whatever project I do’.”

Man reveals the biggest changes he’s experienced two years after quitting alcohol

The former Love Island star and doctor is celebrating a hefty stint of sobriety

He also explained how long it takes for our bodies and brains to bounce back after quitting the liquor once and for all.

Dr Alex George from Wales shot to fame after appearing on the hit British TV show, Love Island, in 2018.

Since his TV debut, the physician works to raise awareness on topics close to his heart, such as mental health and now, more recently, going teetotal.

Holly Bowles, 19, passes away in Laos after drinking contaminated alcohol

The 33-year-old shared his two-year sobriety journey on his YouTube channel, @DrAlexGeorge, and in the 30 minute clip revealed some surprising insight into what it’s like to really ditch booze for good.

Dr Alex quit for good two years ago (

Karwai Tang/WireImage)

Dr Alex started by answering how he ‘got into this mess’, saying that medics often turn to alcohol to relieve stress and pressure, though his relationship with booze turned sour over a period of six years.

He explained: “It’s something that crept up on me and I didn’t really realize how much of a problem it was until I’d stopped drinking for about six months.”

His life changed ‘dramatically’ since leaving the reality TV show as he said he started to use alcohol to ‘numb’ and ‘calm’ his nerves when attending social events – and then he suffered a traumatic event, with not only the pandemic but the loss of his brother who died at the age of 19 in 2020 to suicide.

Dr Alex said he coped by throwing himself into work – and to booze to ‘suppress’ those emotions.

It was on December 4, 2022, that the physician had his eureka moment when sat in the chair at his hairdressers as he said he looked ‘lost’, ‘puffy’, overweight, and feared he could die at 40 if he didn’t make a change.

Dr Alex admitted it took a while for his body to adjust to quitting alcohol, particularly when it came to sleep.

He explained: “It’s because, although alcohol leaves your system very quickly, the effects on your body takes many many months to change and reverse.

“One of the things that does take time is the effect on your brain. Alcohol causes cellular death in the brain. It kills brain matter.

“If we drink over a long period of time, it causes all sorts of issues. When you stop drinking […] it takes time for your brain to adapt to a non-alcohol state.”

However, once he mastered the art of ‘sober sleep’ after about eight weeks, he said the benefits are an ‘absolute game changer’.

He continued: “All of sudden, falling asleep is easier. You enter deeper sleep and wake up feeling rejuvenated.”
