Country music star Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, share a love story marked by their passion for family and philanthropy.

The couple’s connection began in 2001, when the singer invited his future wife to star in the music video for his song “I’m Gonna Miss Her.” He had been smitten with her years earlier after seeing her performance in the 1991 film “Father of the Bride.”

The couple later exchanged vows in March 2003 and built a family together, welcoming their first son, William, nicknamed Huck, in 2007, followed by their younger son, Jasper, in 2009.

Parenting their boys has been a rewarding experience, as Brad shared in an interview, “So far they’re pretty good,” while expressing pride in the young men his sons were becoming. Originally constructed in 1925, the residence underwent thoughtful renovations that brought modern convenience while maintaining its historic character.

Among its standout features were a cozy kitchen with stone floors and a charming breakfast nook, a detached garage with a bonus room above, and a stone patio adorned with a vine-covered pergola. The property also offered stunning views, making it an idyllic retreat.

The family’s time in their first home was filled with unforgettable memories, but their connection to the house remained even after moving on. The Paisleys sold the Pacific Palisades property in September 2013 for $2.5 million.

Tragically, in January 2025, the same home was destroyed in the devastating California wildfires that swept through the area.

Brad also reminisced about preparing their first nursery, taking birthing classes with friends like Kevin Nealon and Susan Yeagley, and enjoying neighborhood walks to local spots like Gelson’s and Starbucks. Following the fires, he expressed, “That beautiful old house burned last night. As did most of that community. So many good people displaced, devastated and cast out all over LA.”

While acknowledging the scale of the tragedy, he encouraged his followers to find ways to help, adding, “Mostly right now I just want to mourn the loss of a town. And acknowledge the beauty and the memories of what it was. It is all so tragic and sad.”

People have been wondering if Donald Trump’s decision not to put his hand on the Bible while being sworn in has had any impact on his oath of office.

Yesterday (January 20) marked a historical day for the White House as Donald Trump returned to office for the second time, becoming the 47th President of the United States.

The inauguration ceremony in Washington has already caused a stir on social media, as eagle-eyed viewers didn’t skip a beat spotting some seemingly strange moments.

From First Lady Melania Trump’s excessively large hat which allowed her to ‘dodge’ a kiss from the president to Elon Musk’s thumbs up next to Barron Trump before later being accused of making a ‘Nazi salute’ – something he has denied.

Now, another snippet from the ceremony has gone viral where Trump is being sworn in during his oath of office.

Donald Trump didn’t put hand on Bible during oath

The tradition of swearing on a Bible dates back to George Washington, who actually kissed the scriptures after taking his oath, but as Trump raised his right hand to ‘solemnly swear’ to commit to the position and ‘serve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States’, his left hand strayed away from hovering over the two Bibles his wife held in front of him.

He had a family Bible, given to Trump by his mother, and a Bible used by the 16th President Abraham Lincoln used in his own inauguration in 1861. But apparently, Trump didn’t touch either of them, despite doing so in his first inauguration in 2017.

Many have since been left wondering if Trump’s choice not to touch the holy texts has had any impact on his oath and how the Bible actually factors into the whole affair.

Taking to Twitter, an apparent Trump supporter wrote: “Great. Just great. No hand on the Bible.

“Melania tried to get it close to him but Roberts and Trump didn’t notice.

“Now we get four more years of people saying he’s not president, and four more years of people saying he’s the AntiChrist.”

It’s not clear why Trump decided not to put his hand on the Bible.

Does Trump not putting his hand on the Bible have an impact on oath?

Physically touching a Bible is not actually mandatory or a legal requirement – the Constitution simply requires the president take the oath before assuming office, religious text or not.

Speaking to Reuters, Jeremi Suri, a University of Texas history professor and presidential scholar, revealed there is no practical impact if a president declines to swear on a Bible or historical document.

Suri said: “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president has to connect this to God in any way. The oath is to the Constitution.

“I don’t think it has any bearing on him taking the oath.”

The academic also added that the Constitution allows any incoming president to either swear or attest, meaning it is ‘open to someone who is an atheist’.

Long-standing tradition

But that hasn’t stopped Trump’s predecessors from following the tradition to a tee, including Joe Biden, who used a Bible that had been in his family since 1893.

In some instances where the Bible was not used, US presidents used other texts: John Quincy Adams, the sixth president, placed his hand on a book of law, while Lyndon B. Johnson used a Catholic prayer missal that was found on the plane that transported John F. Kennedy’s casket after his assassination, reports The New York Times.

Trump has also referenced God during his inaugural address, commenting that he was ‘saved by God’ to ‘make American great again’.

Policy recognising only ‘two genders’

The president signed an order which will make it an official policy that there are only ‘two genders’.

The policy reads: “Agencies will cease pretending that men can be women and women can be men when enforcing laws that protect against sex discrimination.

“These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

The order will also bring to an end ‘wasteful’ government programmes which promote diversity and inclusivity, as well as ‘defending women from gender ideology extremism’.

Free speech

The president accused the previous administration of ‘trampling free speech rights by censoring Americans’ speech’ and vowed to restore freedom of speech.

The order states it will ‘ensure that no Federal Government officer, employee, or agent engages in or facilitates any conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen’ and will ‘end censorship of protected speech’.

Leaving the World Health Organisation

The president accused the organization of fumbling the COVID-19 pandemic and said the US would no longer be ‘ripped off’ by it.

While signing a document to have the US leave the health agency, Trump said: “World Health ripped us off, everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

TikTok ban

As expected, Trump signed an executive order which hits pause on the US’ ban of the popular app, allowing time for an ‘appropriate course forward’.

“I guess I have a warm spot for TikTok that I didn’t have originally,” he said.

January 6 pardons

Trump’s loss in the 2020 election led to the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in turn resulting in the arrests of a number of Trump supporters.

And as anticipated, the president has wasted no time in issuing pardons for offenders. Trump said he’s pardoned around 1,500 people and issued six commutations.

Immigration

Trump has issued a slew of immigration-related policies during his first day back in the White House as he declared illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border a national emergency.

Trump has already gotten started on reversing several Biden-era immigration orders and has plans to send US troops to help immigration agents and restrict refugees.

The president has also got the wheels in motion to prevent children of immigrants in the US illegally from having citizenship.

Speaking at his inauguration, he said: “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”

Restoring the death penalty

Calling capital punishment an ‘essential tool for deterring and punishing those who would commit the most heinous crimes’, Trump signed an order which will ensure states have enough lethal injection drugs for executions.

“The Attorney General shall pursue the death penalty for all crimes of a severity demanding its use,” the order says.

Renaming the Gulf of Mexico

Following through on his promise during a press conference earlier this month, Trump has now ordered the Gulf of Mexico to be called the Gulf of America.

“President Trump is bringing common sense to government and renewing the pillars of American Civilization,” the executive order said.

Despite the order, it won’t change how it is named globally.

Energy policy

Trump has vowed to ‘unleash American energy’, promising to export US energy globally as he signed the order amid what he describes as a ‘national energy emergency’.

“America is blessed with an abundance of energy and natural resources that have historically powered our Nation’s economic prosperity. In recent years, burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations have impeded the development of these resources, limited the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens,” the order states.

The order will also reverse Biden’s ban on drilling in Alaska as Trump declared America ‘will be a rich nation again’.

Cost of living

In the order, Trump vowed to issue ’emergency price relief’ to Americans aimed at lowering housing prices and availability and creating ’employment opportunities for American workers’.

Trump will also ‘eliminate harmful, coercive “climate” policies that increase the costs of food and fuel’.

Drug cartels

Trump has said drug cartels will now be classified as terrorist organisations.

“International cartels constitute a national-security threat beyond that posed by traditional organised crime,” the orders says.

Federal workers

Federal employees have now been classified as political hires – a move which in theory would make them easier to fire.

Trump also declared a federal hiring freeze which will reduce the size of federal government.

Within the first 24 hours of being sworn in as the President of the United States for the second time, Donald Trump has wasted no time signing off on multiple executive orders.

Halting the TikTok ban

The White House website states: “To fulfil those responsibilities, I intend to consult with my advisors, including the heads of relevant departments and agencies on the national security concerns posed by TikTok, and to pursue a resolution that protects national security while saving a platform used by 170 million Americans.

“My Administration must also review sensitive intelligence related to those concerns and evaluate the sufficiency of mitigation measures TikTok has taken to date.”

The ban has subsequently been paused ‘for a period of 75 days’ to allow Trump’s administration to ‘determine the appropriate course forward’.

Official policy that there are ‘only two genders’

The order’s title reads: “Defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government.”

The policy recognizes ‘two sexes, male and female’ and states them as not being ‘changeable’ but ‘grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.

“Each agency and all Federal employees shall enforce laws governing sex-based rights, protections, opportunities, and accommodations to protect men and women as biologically distinct sexes.

“Agencies shall remove all statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications, or other internal and external messages that promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology, and shall cease issuing such statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications or other messages. Agency forms that require an individual’s sex shall list male or female, and shall not request gender identity. Agencies shall take all necessary steps, as permitted by law, to end the Federal funding of gender ideology.”

‘Restoring’ death penalty

The order accuses Biden’s government and judges who oppose capital punishment of ‘efforts to subvert and undermine capital punishment defy the laws of [the] nation, make a mockery of justice, and insult the victims of these horrible crimes’.

Trump’s order states: “The Government’s most solemn responsibility is to protect its citizens from abhorrent acts, and my Administration will not tolerate efforts to stymie and eviscerate the laws that authorize capital punishment against those who commit horrible acts of violence against American citizens.”

The policy adds: “It is the policy of the United States to ensure that the laws that authorize capital punishment are respected and faithfully implemented, and to counteract the politicians and judges who subvert the law by obstructing and preventing the execution of capital sentences.”

Ending radical and wasteful government diversity, equity and inclusion’ programs

The order states: “The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military.

“[…] Pursuant to Executive Order 13985 and follow-on orders, nearly every Federal agency and entity submitted ‘Equity Action Plans’ to detail the ways that they have furthered DEIs infiltration of the Federal Government. The public release of these plans demonstrated immense public waste and shameful discrimination. That ends today.

“Americans deserve a government committed to serving every person with equal dignity and respect, and to expending precious taxpayer resources only on making America great.”

Reversing 78 of Biden’s ‘harmful’ executive actions

The executive order accuses the previous administration of embedding ‘deeply unpopular, inflationary, illegal and radical practices within every agency and office of the Federal Government’.

It continues: “The injection of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI) into our institutions has corrupted them by replacing hard work, merit, and equality with a divisive and dangerous preferential hierarchy.

“Orders to open the borders have endangered the American people and dissolved Federal, State, and local resources that should be used to benefit the American people.

“Climate extremism has exploded inflation and overburdened businesses with regulation.”

Pardoning Capitol Rioters

Under the section titled ‘Ending the Weaponization of the federal government,’ the White House’s page states: “The Department of Justice even jailed an individual for posting a political meme. And while the Department of Justice has ruthlessly prosecuted more than 1,500 individuals associated with January 6, and simultaneously dropped nearly all cases against BLM rioters. “

Trump accuses the past administration of ‘inflicting political pain’ rather than ‘pursuing actual justice or legitimate government objectives’ against Americans who ‘spoke out against previous administration’s actions and other Americans who were simply exercising constitutionally protected rights’.

The order links to a presidential action pardoning multiple individuals ‘convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025’ alongside granting ‘a full, complete or unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events’ on the same day too.

The White House’s website states: “This proclamation ends a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.”

Free speech and federal censorship

“Over the last four years, the previous administration trampled free speech rights by censoring Americans’ speech on online platforms, often by exerting substantial coercive pressure on third parties, such as social media companies, to moderate, deplatform, or otherwise suppress speech that the Federal Government did not approve. Under the guise of combatting ‘misinformation,’ ‘disinformation,’ and ‘malinformation,’ the Federal Government infringed on the constitutionally protected speech rights of American citizens across the United States in a manner that advanced the Government’s preferred narrative about significant matters of public debate.

Blocking refugees

The order suspends the US Refugee Admissions Program ‘until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States’.

“The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security may jointly determine to admit aliens to the United States as refugees on a case-by-case basis, in their discretion, but only so long as they determine that the entry of such aliens as refugees is in the national interest and does not pose a threat to the security or welfare of the United States.” it says.

Limiting birthright citizenship

If a ‘person’s mother was unlawfully present in the US and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth’ or ‘when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth’ then the person is not ‘automatically’ given the ‘priceless and profound gift’ of ‘the United States citizenship’.

‘Securing’ borders

The order states: “Over the last four years, the United States has endured a large-scale invasion at an unprecedented level. Millions of illegal aliens from nations and regions all around the world successfully entered the United States where they are now residing, including potential terrorists, foreign spies, members of cartels, gangs, and violent transnational criminal organizations, and other hostile actors with malicious intent.”

The order calls upon the Federal Government to ‘act with urgency and strength’ to secure the border and ‘protect the American people from the disastrous effects of unlawful mass migration and resettlement’ including constructing ‘temporary and permanent physical barriers’ and deploying personnel.

Protecting American people against invasion’

The order accuses Biden’s administration of letting ‘millions of illegal aliens’ cross the borders.

“Many of these aliens unlawfully within the United States present significant threats to national security and public safety, committing vile and heinous acts against innocent Americans. Others are engaged in hostile activities, including espionage, economic espionage, and preparations for terror-related activities.” it says.

“Many have abused the generosity of the American people, and their presence in the United States has cost taxpayers billions of dollars at the Federal, State, and local levels.

“Enforcing our Nation’s immigration laws is critically important to the national security and public safety of the United States. The American people deserve a Federal Government that puts their interests first and a Government that understands its sacred obligation to prioritize the safety, security, and financial and economic well-being of Americans.”

The order seeks to tighten the ‘visa-issuance process’ to ‘ensure that those aliens approved for admission into the US do not intend to harm Americans’ or the ‘national interests’.

“More importantly, the United States must identify them before their admission or entry into the United States.”

Cartels named as ‘foreign terrorist organizations’

The order states: “It is the policy of the United States to ensure the total elimination of these organizations’ presence in the United States and their ability to threaten the territory, safety, and security of the United States through their extraterritorial command-and-control structures, thereby protecting the American people and the territorial integrity of the United States.”

United States foreign aid

US foreign development assistance will be paused for 90 days and no assistance will be given until ascertained that its ‘fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the US’ and is ‘aligned with American interests and in many cases antithetical to American values’.

‘America first policy’

The order’s purpose and policy states: “From this day forward, the foreign policy of the United States shall champion core American interests and always put America and American citizens first.

“As soon as practicable, the Secretary of State shall issue guidance bringing the Department of State’s policies, programs, personnel, and operations in line with an America First foreign policy, which puts America and its interests first.”

‘Restoring accountability to policy-influencing positions’ in federal workforce

The White House’s website states: “Article II of the United States Constitution vests the President with the sole and exclusive authority over the executive branch, including the authority to manage the Federal workforce to ensure effective execution of Federal law.

“A critical aspect of this executive function is the responsibility to maintain professionalism and accountability within the civil service.

“This accountability is sorely lacking today. “

Punishing ‘election interference’

The order accuses ’51 former intelligence officials’ of coordinating with ‘the Biden campaign’ to ‘issue a letter discrediting the reporting that President Joseph R. Biden’s son had abandoned his laptop at a computer repair business’.

It then lists a number of individuals, revoking ‘any current or active clearances’ and reinforced anyone who holds ‘government-issued security clearances should not use their clearance status to influence US elections’.

US leaving the World Health Organization (WHO)

The order accuses who of ‘mishandling’ the COVID-19 pandemic alongside ‘other global health crises’.

The executive order continues: “The WHO continues to demand unfairly onerous payments from the United States, far out of proportion with other countries’ assessed payments.

“China, with a population of 1.4 billion, has 300 percent of the population of the United States, yet contributes nearly 90 percent less to the WHO.”

Withdrawing US from Paris climate agreement

The executive order argues the US has ended up involved in ‘international agreements and initiatives that do not reflect [the] country’s values or [its] contributions to the pursuit of economic and environmental objectives’.

“Moreover, these agreements steer American taxpayer dollars to countries that do not require, or merit, financial assistance in the interests of the American people,” it states.

Subsequently, it states its intentions for The United States Ambassador to the United Nations [to] immediately submit formal written notification of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’.

National energy emergency

The order accuses the ‘previous administration’ of having ‘driven [the] Nation into a national emergency, where a precariously inadequate and intermittent energy supply, and an increasingly unreliable grid,’ the US now ‘requi[ring] swift and decisive action’.

Assessments will look at transportation and infrastructure alongside endangered species and the nation’s energy supply and clean water act.

‘Unleashing American energy’

The order accuses ‘burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations’ of ‘imped[ing] the development of’ America’s ‘abundance of energy and natural resources’ and limiting ‘the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens’.

“These high energy costs devastate American consumers by driving up the cost of transportation, heating, utilities, farming, and manufacturing, while weakening our national security,” it adds.

“This Executive Order establishes the Department of Government Efficiency to implement the President’s DOGE Agenda, by modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity.”

‘Unleashing’ Alaska’s natural resources

The order plans to use Alaska’s ‘vast lands and resources’ for the benefit of the US, tapping into its ‘abundant’ supply of ‘energy, mineral, timber, and seafood’ to ‘raise the prosperity of our citizens while helping to enhance [the] Nation’s economic and national security for generations to come’ by creating ‘high-quality jobs’ and delivering ‘price relief’.

‘Restoring names that honor American greatness’

For example, the ‘renaming of Mount McKinley’ and the Gulf of America. The order states: “It is in the national interest to promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation and ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes.

“The naming of our national treasures, including breathtaking natural wonders and historic works of art, should honor the contributions of visionary and patriotic Americans in our Nation’s rich past.”

Javon Brown, 48, died after the altercation

A man suffered a fatal heart attack after reportedly confronting thieves who ‘open fired’ at him.

Javon Brown, from the King’s Forest neighborhood in Atlanta, had woken up as usual for work at 4:30am on Friday (January 17) when he and his wife, Tasha, heard ‘noises’ and ‘scraping’ coming from outside as well as an alarm blaring from their pickup truck, reports Fox 5 Atalanta.

Tasha said she could see from her window that it appeared two young people were on their driveway on King George Lane and were ‘breaking into his truck’ in an apparent attempt to steal it.

The father-of-three then sprung into action, grabbing his gun to try and scare them off.

His widow recounted how the 48-year-old stood ‘yelling down the driveway’ at the trespassers to leave his property and his truck.

Then, she claimed she heard gunshots as the suspects started firing shots.

“I have three small children at home,” Tasha continued. “So I was trying to hustle them to safety.”

While taking cover, she said the whole time she was worried if Javon had been hit by a bullet.

Neighbors corroborate the story, telling Fox 5 that they woke to a thundering of bullets in the early hours.

A neighbor said: “I was asleep, probably around 4:30 or so, and I heard gunshots – maybe eight or nine. It was coming from two different directions.

“I just thought it was too close and laid back down.”

While police said Javon didn’t suffer any gunshot wounds, he tragically died after the altercation as his wife helplessly tried to save his life.

Tasha said the alleged burglars ran away but as Javon came back into their home, he only managed to say a few words before he collapsed to the ground.

She said: “He was able to speak. He was not hit. But then he went into cardiac arrest over the shock.

“He dropped down. I did CPR. I called 911 until I couldn’t feel my arms and hands, but it wasn’t enough.”

By the time medics and police arrived at the scene, Javon was found deceased inside the doorway of his home, authorities said.

The Atlanta Police Department say officers are collaborating with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office to investigate further.

And while the suspects remain at large, Tasha is left to pick up the pieces from the sudden tragedy.

“You work so hard. You do the right thing,” the heartbroken widow said to reporters.

“You take care of your home and take care of your family and someone feels entitled to come and try to take it from you.”

Beckett, the chairman of the EITC, is more than a little confident and is expecting a ruthless and easy victory, only to fail at the final hurdle and be killed.

Beckett’s ship, the Endeavour, is destroyed as it is fired on both sides by the Captain Jack Sparrow-led Black Pearl and William Turner-led Flying Dutchman in a wild and chaotic end.

The reason this scene proved so iconic for fans was Beckett’s, face of pure disbelief and shock as he walked through the deck of his exploding vessel.

One Twitter user perfectly encapsulated the charm the scene had and commented: “That’s what makes his death satisfying imo. He has the ‘big guns’ & should have the advantage but ultimately his pride is his undoing.”

It seems wild to me that some of the most wicked people on the planet are given whatever they want for their last meal.

Yet, in 12 of the 19 states that allow capital punishment, they are – and the heinous Gary Carl Simmons Jr took advantage of that as he ordered a 29,000-calorie meal before he was executed by way of lethal injection at the Mississippi State Penitentiary.

In August 1996, the grocery store butcher murdered 21-year-old Jeffrey Wolfe when he and his girlfriend drove from Houston to Mississippi to collect a drug debt believed to be in the region of $12,000 and $20,000.

When Wolfe arrived at the house, he was met by Simmons and his accomplice Timothy Milano, who told their victim they did not have the money for him.

An argument arose and it ended in Milano fatally shooting Wolfe with a .22-caliber rifle, meanwhile the despicable men caught Wolfe’s girlfriend, hog-tied her and locked her in a footlocker before Simmons later raped her.

Court documents said he told her that ‘her life depended on how well she performed sexually’, before throwing her back in the box.

He then went to the bathroom where he used his meat carving knives from his place of work to dismember and gut Wolfe’s body in the bathtub, before scattering his remains in an alligator-infested bayou in 1996.

Almost 20 years later, in June 2012, Simmons finally faced his punishment.

For his final meal he requested so much that it could have fed a few dozen people.

From Pizza Hut he ordered a medium Super Supreme Deep Dish pizza, double portion, with mushrooms, onions, jalapeño peppers and pepperoni; pizza, regular portion, with three cheeses, olives, bell pepper, tomato, garlic and Italian sausage.

He wasn’t finished there as he also ordered 10 8-oz. packs of Parmesan cheese; 10 8-oz. packs of ranch dressing; one family size pack of Doritos nacho cheese flavour; eight oz. jalapeño nacho cheese and four oz. sliced jalapeños.

Then from McDonald’s he ordered two large strawberry shakes; two 20-oz. cherry Cokes; one super-size order of McDonald’s fries with extra ketchup and mayonnaise; and two pints of strawberry ice cream.

It is unclear if he ate the entire meal, however, ninety minutes before his execution, at a press conference held at 4.45 p.m. the Department of Corrections claimed he had eaten about half of his meal and sampled everything but the fries, a local blog reported.

So, how did he get caught?

His victim, who he’d caged in a footlocker, managed to escape from the box and run to a neighbor’s house where she called police.

Following his arrest, Simmons was convicted in August 1997 for kidnapping, rape and capital murder, and was sentenced to death.

“He knew the youth vote,” Trump said. “We won the youth vote by 36 points. And he was saying, ‘Dad, you got to go out and do this one and that one.'”

The new leader of the nation – who had an awkward moment with his wife Melania at his inauguration – made a string of big announcements on stage.

But it’s remarks made by his youngest child which have sparked a discussion online, as Barron had quite the strange exchange with Biden.

The 18-year-old, who is studying at New York University, was seen shaking hands with the outgoing leader and his Vice President Kamala Harris after his dad was sworn in.

Footage appears to show Barron and Biden grinning at one another as they lock hands, however, the 82-year-old’s expression dramatically changed a few seconds later.

The cheery look on Biden’s face vanished after Trump’s son appeared to lean towards him and utter a few words.

Whatever Barron said – which currently remains a mystery – it didn’t seem to make the former President very happy.

The Democrat’s big grin quickly fell after the 6ft 7inch teenager made the mystery comment, so inevitably, this has sparked a ton of speculation on social media.

People are desperate to find out what the pair were chinwagging about in the footage which has gone viral.

One person said: “Where is the lip reading lady???”

Another wrote: “Not sure what he said but wiped the smirk right off his face.”

A third added: “That boy means business.”

Policy recognising only ‘two genders’

The president signed an order which will make it an official policy that there are only ‘two genders’.

The policy reads: “Agencies will cease pretending that men can be women and women can be men when enforcing laws that protect against sex discrimination.

“These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

The order will also bring to an end ‘wasteful’ government programmes which promote diversity and inclusivity, as well as ‘defending women from gender ideology extremism’.

Free speech

The president accused the previous administration of ‘trampling free speech rights by censoring Americans’ speech’ and vowed to restore freedom of speech.

The order states it will ‘ensure that no Federal Government officer, employee, or agent engages in or facilitates any conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen’ and will ‘end censorship of protected speech’.

Leaving the World Health Organisation

The president accused the organisation of fumbling the COVID-19 pandemic and said the US would no longer be ‘ripped off’ by it.

While signing a document to have the US leave the health agency, Trump said: “World Health ripped us off, everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

TikTok ban

As expected, Trump signed an executive order which hits pause on the US’ ban of the popular app, allowing time for an ‘appropriate course forward’.

“I guess I have a warm spot for TikTok that I didn’t have originally,” he said.

January 6 pardons

Trump’s loss in the 2020 election led to the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in turn resulting in the arrests of a number of Trump supporters.

And as anticipated, the president has wasted no time in issuing pardons for offenders. Trump said he’s pardoned around 1,500 people and issued six commutations.

Immigration

Trump has issued a slew of immigration-related policies during his first day back in the White House as he declared illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border a national emergency.

Trump has already gotten started on reversing several Biden-era immigration orders and has plans to send US troops to help immigration agents and restrict refugees.

The president has also got the wheels in motion to prevent children of immigrants in the US illegally from having citizenship.

Speaking at his inauguration, he said: “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”

Restoring the death penalty

Calling capital punishment an ‘essential tool for deterring and punishing those who would commit the most heinous crimes’, Trump signed an order which will ensure states have enough lethal injection drugs for executions.

“The Attorney General shall pursue the death penalty for all crimes of a severity demanding its use,” the order says.

Renaming the Gulf of Mexico

Following through on his promise during a press conference earlier this month, Trump has now ordered the Gulf of Mexico to be called the Gulf of America.

“President Trump is bringing common sense to government and renewing the pillars of American Civilization,” the executive order said.

Despite the order, it won’t change how it is named globally.

Energy policy

Trump has vowed to ‘unleash American energy’, promising to export US energy globally as he signed the order amid what he describes as a ‘national energy emergency’.

“America is blessed with an abundance of energy and natural resources that have historically powered our Nation’s economic prosperity. In recent years, burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations have impeded the development of these resources, limited the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens,” the order states.

The order will also reverse Biden’s ban on drilling in Alaska as Trump declared America ‘will be a rich nation again’.

Cost of living

In the order, Trump vowed to issue ’emergency price relief’ to Americans aimed at lowering housing prices and availability and creating ’employment opportunities for American workers’.

Trump will also ‘eliminate harmful, coercive “climate” policies that increase the costs of food and fuel’.

Drug cartels

Trump has said drug cartels will now be classified as terrorist organisations.

“International cartels constitute a national-security threat beyond that posed by traditional organised crime,” the orders says.

Federal workers

Federal employees have now been classified as political hires – a move which in theory would make them easier to fire.

Trump also declared a federal hiring freeze which will reduce the size of federal government.

The Tesla tycoon, 53, joined a string of celebrities and politicians in Washington on Monday (20 January) to show their support for the new President as power officially changed hands.

Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the USA and made a powerful speech laying out his promises as leader – which garnered a viral reaction from former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

But his big day has been marred by controversy after Musk made a series of movements which many people have deemed as ‘fascist’.

As well as being seen making a bizarre gesture after Trump confirmed his pledge to send US astronauts to Mars, the Space X boss later appeared to make other strange motions.

The billionaire has found himself in hot water as viewers watching the inauguration claim he made a ‘Nazi salute’ during his speech.

While on stage at the Capitol One Arena, Musk was seen excitedly discussing the prospect of planting an American flag on Mars.

He then thanked the crowd for helping secure Trump’s victory against Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, praising the audience for ‘making it happen’.

Musk then appeared to thump his chest, before his right arm shot up in an angular motion towards the sky.

The businessman then turned away from the audience and replicated the gesture, this time towards a US flag which was draped over the stage.

“My heart goes out to you,” Musk then told supporters. “It is thanks to you that the future of civilisation is assured.”

During live coverage of the event, CNN anchor Erin Burnett was heard saying: “Standing ovation for Elon Musk. By far the biggest reception of the day. You saw him come out with that odd-looking salute.”

Her colleague Kasie Hunt also pointed out that the gesture ‘was evocative of things that we have seen through history’ and ‘not something you typically see at American rallies’, the Independent reports.

Discussion about Musk’s movements also erupted across social media, including on his own platform, X.

Many people have suggested the gesture was similar to a Nazi salute.

One person said in a post on X: “Elon Musk just did a Nazi salute on national television.”

Another wrote: “WTF?? What did Elon Musk just do??”

A third added: “THERE’S NO WAY ELON MUSK DID A SIEG HEIL AT TRUMP’S INAUGURATION.”

According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a Nazi salute is defined as ‘raising an outstretched right arm with the palm down’.

What has Elon Musk said about the gesture?

After receiving a host of backlash on social media, Musk has now spoken out about the controversy.

In a post shared on his platform X today (21 January), he responded to a user who shared a screenshot of one of his own former tweets.

In May 2022, Musk shared a tweet saying: “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.

“But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican. Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold…”

Alongside the screenshot, the social media user wrote: “The salute hoax is just another part of the ‘dirty tricks campaign’.”

Quoting the post, Musk wrote: “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

Another user asked to ‘retire the calling people a Nazi thing’, to which Musk responded: “Yeah exactly,” alongside a yawning emoji.

Don’t get me wrong – everyone loves a Wetherspoons, but to actually get the name tattooed on your body? That’s some next-level stuff.

But the idea hasn’t fazed super fan Tasha Bentley at all, who got ‘Wetherspoons’ tatted across her stomach.

The Brit admitted that it stunned her family and friends, as well as those down at her local Spoons in Walkden, Greater Manchester, called The Bull’s Head Hotel.

The 23-year-old made the decision to fork out the £500 for the permanent ink back in May 2024.

It took months to complete, with work eventually being finished in November last year.

Five inches tall, death metal font was used for the tattoo, with the finished product measuring 1.6 feet wide.

Calling her new ink ‘iconic’, the content creator was happy for it to be part of her 55 tattoos, revealing that her love for metal bands and Wetherspoon were combined in the making of her latest artwork.

As her favourite bit of ink, Bentley hopes that she can get a free whisky as a result of the tatt, revealing: “I reckon I’m one of Wetherspoon’s biggest fans now I’ve got the name on me.

“It [getting the piece finished] was on and off for so long last year, it was overwhelming.”

Admitting that she knew how bizarre it seemed, she shared: “It’s a Wetherspoon tattoo, you don’t expect that kind of feeling. I was just so happy.

“Seeing it on Facebook I knew straight away ‘that is me’. Now seeing it on my body – it’s an iconic piece. It’s my favourite piece out of all the tattoos I have.”

It turns out that her friend tagged her in a Facebook post that shared the unique design, egging her on to get it done herself.

“I wanted it as an underboob piece but because of how big it is and how my body sits it looked a mess and wouldn’t have worked,” Bentley said.

Looking back at the sessions, she admitted that she ‘hated every minute of it’, revealing it took ‘three or four sittings’ and needing a lot of numbing cream to get through the last bit.

The content creator opened up on why she loves the chain so much, citing food, friendly people and feeling ‘safe’ at their pubs as the main reasons.

“I just love it. It’s affordable, there are lots of options, people at my local are friendly and I feel safe there, especially on my own,” she said.

Talking about her love for metal music, the 23-year-old explained that she got into bands such as Green Day and Nirvana when she was 12, moving over to the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Mötley Crüe and Anthrax as she got older.

Bentley stated: “That kind of music has an iconic font so I’ve combined the two in the tattoo.”

Admitting that her family think she’s ‘weird’, Bentley says that the tattoo is growing on them, though she isn’t too bothered.

“My friends were like ‘that’s a Tasha thing to do’, they weren’t surprised that I’d done it,” she admitted.

The Spoons lover concluded: “The guys at the pub weren’t expecting it. They were just like ‘Why?’. I said ‘Because I want to and I love Wetherspoon.

“I’m now a walking advert for them, even one free whiskey would be great.”

Steph Warkotsch said she suffered sleepless nights as what she thought was a blemish left her in ‘unbearable’ pain

There’s a reason why you’re told not to mess with the spots on your face – and this woman found it out the hard way.

Steph Warkotsch ended up needing surgery and 30 stitches after interfering with what she thought was a blemish on her left cheek.

The 30-year-old explained that she first spotted the mark in October last year and presumed it was a ‘hormonal pimple’.

Although she was used to ‘having the odd spot here and there’, Steph said she knew this one ‘was out of the ordinary’ as it just wouldn’t go away.

She tried to draw it out using a face mask and a cold compress, but the blemish wouldn’t budge – and over the course of a week, it began to swell significantly in size.

“Even though I’m not prone to blemishes, I thought it was a spot,” Steph said. “But as I was trying to draw out the gland and it was only getting bigger, I started to worry.

“The pain was unbearable, and I couldn’t sleep properly because I couldn’t lie on the left side of my face at all.”

Steph headed to her GP, who prescribed her a course of antibiotics, but the spot still hadn’t shifted after four weeks. In fact, by November, it’s square footage had doubled and it was the same size as a 10-cent piece, while Steph was left to deal with a ‘constant throbbing pain’ in her face.

The mum-of-two’s GP was reluctant to attempt an extraction, so instead sent Steph for an ultrasound, which is where she finally started to get some answers.

The health councillor, from Melbourne, Australia, was informed that it wasn’t just a routine zit on her left cheek, as it was actually a deep-rooted begin sebaceous cyst in her bone and sinuses.

Sebaceous cysts are typically harmless, slow-growing bumps under the skin which are typically found on the face and are filled with ‘keratin and cell debris’.

According to Cleveland Clinic, they are usually removed during a surgical procedure to prevent it returning.

Other health professionals might make a small incision into the cyst to drain the fluid inside of it, which can help improve inflammation and swelling – but it’s not a permanent solution.

The experts also warned: “Don’t try popping or draining the cyst yourself. This could cause an infection, and the cyst will likely grow back.”

Steph later visited a skin cancer specialist, who informed her that surgical removal would be the best course of action.

She underwent the 30 minute private procedure in mid November for $450 (£229.41) and the cyst was successfully extracted – but she needed 30 stitches.

However, the surgical team reassured the mum they would ‘follow the natural wrinkle and smile line’ on her face, meaning that her ‘huge’ scar will heal ‘smoother’.

“I thought they were going to extract it, not remove it,” Steph continued. “The procedure was uncomfortable and seeing my face for the first time all stitched up was a shock.

“This is going to be on my face forever and coming to terms with that was hard. But I’m doing better and the scar is going down.”

She said she was glad she got booked in for the procedure quickly, as the ‘pain and sleepless nights were hard to navigate as a single mum’.

Speaking of the moment she saw her face, Steph said: “When I first saw my face post-surgery with a clump of stitches, I just cried.

“I thought I’d be scarred for life but it’s healing slowly, the clinic kindly instructed me on how to care for the wound.”

She documented her skin ordeal on TikTok in videos which have since gone viral, with one racking up more than nine million views.

Now, Steph wants to urge others not to mess around with any thing that pops up on their face.

“I wanted to warn others that a ‘spot’ might not be a blemish,” she said. “You should always seek professional assistance, especially when it comes to your face.”
