A YouTuber decided to travel to four countries in four days using the cheapest available flights, with no idea where he’d end up. Sounds like fun.

British content creator Ben Morris went on a trip of a lifetime to Europe in 2022, under the premise that he travels on the least expensive flights possible back-to-back-to-back.

To make it fair, he got his flatmate to go on Skyscanner and book all the flights for him.

“I only know the first destination and the rest of them, I’m gonna find out at the same time that you guys do,” he said in his video which has three million views.

Wrocław, Poland – £10 flight from London

During his first trip, Morris went to Poland for just £10 with the aim of trying the national dish (dumplings called pierogi) and the national drink (vodka).

However, at that moment in time, it was the 2022 World Cup and Poland were playing in the first match.

If Poland won, he was going to book himself into a nice hotel, and then if they lose, he would stay in a cheap hotel.

Well, Poland drew 0-0 against Mexico and he decided to stay at a £3 hostel with ‘a good rating’.

Throughout his trip, where it was 2°C, Morris also visited the museum which he highly recommended.

Rome, Italy – £18 flight from Wrocław

Thankfully, it seemed Rome was a lot warmer as Morris said: “Highly recommend going to the Coliseum.

“You kind of have to, if you go to Rome, we only have about two hours of daylight left.

“I’m gonna hop on a Lime bike and head to Vatican City.”

The YouTuber also went and saw the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain during his stay.

“The national drink of Italy is Campari, and I’ve got a Campari spritz. I don’t know if that’s cheating,” he added.

“And for food, I’ve ordered of Ragu bolognese, which is the traditional dish of Italy. I’m pretty sure it’s just bolognese.

“Any Italians out there are gonna kill me for saying that.”

Paphos, Cyprus – £16 flight from Rome

After arriving on his 6am flight from Rome, he set out to sample the national dish of Cyprus, which is Fasolada, a bean and vegetable soup.

A lot of walking was involved in this trip, and he eventually gave up and got souvlaki instead.

As for the national drink, Zivania, it’s a strong colourless spirit made from grape pomace and dry wines, and is sometimes referred to as ‘firewater’ because of its high alcohol content.

It did not disappoint.

Tel Aviv, Israel – £58 from Paphos

“So the flight isn’t actually that cheap. It’s £58, and it’s only an hour away. The whole point of the challenge is to just get the cheapest flight to wherever it’s going,” he said.

After visiting a couple of restaurants and befriending a couple, Morris opted to call it a day.

“What an insane week this has been,” he concluded.

The Trump administration is just two days old and has already been hit with with at least four lawsuits over Elon Musk’s new occupation.

Titled the Department of Government Efficiency – or DOGE for short much like that meme of the dog which has now died and also got turned into a cryptocurrency – it’s supposed to be helping the new Trump administration find places to cut government spending.

Elon Musk, who on Trump’s inauguration day twice made a very distinctive gesture where he held his right arm up in the air to a crowd, had previously claimed that he could cut about $2 trillion in spending from the US government budget.

However, he later revised that projection down to $1 trillion in budget cuts suggesting that by aiming for two you could probably get one.

For reference, between October 2023 and September 2024 the US federal government spent about $6.75 trillion.

Musk was earmarked to run DOGE alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, who has quit the department just hours after Trump took office to leave the Tesla boss in overall control of it.

Meanwhile, the new department has already been the subject of a number of lawsuits.

The Washington Post reports that DOGE was sued mere minutes after Trump’s inauguration by law firm National Security Counselors, which claims that the department meets the standard to be classed as a ‘federal advisory committee’ and thus has a legal responsibility to take certain steps which are meant to ensure it provides the government with balanced advice that is transparent.

A second lawsuit filed by the groups Public Citizen, State Democracy Defenders Fund and the American Federation of Government Employees alleges much the same, while a third lawsuit from the groups Democracy Forward, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington also has the same argument that DOGE is going to be providing advice to the government and thus must be bound by the rules of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA).

These three lawsuits may be complicated by an executive order from Trump declaring that DOGE is operating ‘within’ the US government, meaning it would not be a federal advisory committee and thus not subject to FACA.

Meanwhile, a fourth lawsuit from the Center for Biological Diversity is also targeted at DOGE but is not picking up the group over its status.

Instead, this fourth lawsuit is seeking public records on how individuals who have claimed to represent DOGE ‘have interacted with the White House since the presidential transition began in November’.

All the executive orders Donald Trump has signed so far

Policy recognising only ‘two genders’

The president signed an order which will make it an official policy that there are only ‘two genders’.

The policy reads: “Agencies will cease pretending that men can be women and women can be men when enforcing laws that protect against sex discrimination.

“These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”

The order will also bring to an end ‘wasteful’ government programmes which promote diversity and inclusivity, as well as ‘defending women from gender ideology extremism’.

Free speech

The president accused the previous administration of ‘trampling free speech rights by censoring Americans’ speech’ and vowed to restore freedom of speech.

The order states it will ‘ensure that no Federal Government officer, employee, or agent engages in or facilitates any conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen’ and will ‘end censorship of protected speech’.

Leaving the World Health Organisation

The president accused the organisation of fumbling the COVID-19 pandemic and said the US would no longer be ‘ripped off’ by it.

While signing a document to have the US leave the health agency, Trump said: “World Health ripped us off, everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

TikTok ban

As expected, Trump signed an executive order which hits pause on the US’ ban of the popular app, allowing time for an ‘appropriate course forward’.

“I guess I have a warm spot for TikTok that I didn’t have originally,” he said.

January 6 pardons

Trump’s loss in the 2020 election led to the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in turn resulting in the arrests of a number of Trump supporters.

And as anticipated, the president has wasted no time in issuing pardons for offenders. Trump said he’s pardoned around 1,500 people and issued six commutations.

Immigration

Trump has issued a slew of immigration-related policies during his first day back in the White House as he declared illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border a national emergency.

Trump has already gotten started on reversing several Biden-era immigration orders and has plans to send US troops to help immigration agents and restrict refugees.

The president has also got the wheels in motion to prevent children of immigrants in the US illegally from having citizenship.

Speaking at his inauguration, he said: “All illegal entry will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”

Restoring the death penalty

Calling capital punishment an ‘essential tool for deterring and punishing those who would commit the most heinous crimes’, Trump signed an order which will ensure states have enough lethal injection drugs for executions.

“The Attorney General shall pursue the death penalty for all crimes of a severity demanding its use,” the order says.

Renaming the Gulf of Mexico

Following through on his promise during a press conference earlier this month, Trump has now ordered the Gulf of Mexico to be called the Gulf of America.

“President Trump is bringing common sense to government and renewing the pillars of American Civilization,” the executive order said.

Despite the order, it won’t change how it is named globally.

Energy policy

Trump has vowed to ‘unleash American energy’, promising to export US energy globally as he signed the order amid what he describes as a ‘national energy emergency’.

“America is blessed with an abundance of energy and natural resources that have historically powered our Nation’s economic prosperity. In recent years, burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations have impeded the development of these resources, limited the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens,” the order states.

The order will also reverse Biden’s ban on drilling in Alaska as Trump declared America ‘will be a rich nation again’.

Cost of living

In the order, Trump vowed to issue ’emergency price relief’ to Americans aimed at lowering housing prices and availability and creating ’employment opportunities for American workers’.

Trump will also ‘eliminate harmful, coercive “climate” policies that increase the costs of food and fuel’.

Drug cartels

Trump has said drug cartels will now be classified as terrorist organisations.

“International cartels constitute a national-security threat beyond that posed by traditional organised crime,” the orders says.

Federal workers

Federal employees have now been classified as political hires – a move which in theory would make them easier to fire.

Trump also declared a federal hiring freeze which will reduce the size of federal government.

The idea that your brain just stops working when you die couldn’t be further from the truth, according to a 2022 study published in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience.

A group of neuroscientists from the University of Tartu, Estonia ended up taking a deep dive into the brain of a patient who suffered with epilepsy.

Dr Raul Vicente and his team initially used continuous electroencephalography (EEG) to treat the patient, and to try to detect the seizures before they happened.

However, under supervision, the patient sadly had a heart attack and died.

Despite the tragic incident, the scientists went and looked at a dying brain for, supposedly, the first time ever.

“We measured 900 seconds of brain activity around the time of death and set a specific focus to investigate what happened in the 30 seconds before and after the heart stopped beating,” said Dr Ajmal Zemmar, a neurosurgeon at the University of Louisville, US, who organised the study.

“Just before and after the heart stopped working, we saw changes in a specific band of neural oscillations, so-called gamma oscillations, but also in others such as delta, theta, alpha, and beta oscillations.”

They were able to confirm that the rhythmic brain wave patterns at the time of death were similar to the wave patterns when dreaming, memory recall, and meditation.

It gave a possible explication for why people often have vivid life recall in near-death experiences.

The age old saying of ‘life flashing before your eyes’ might have some truth in it.

So, there are different types of brain oscillations (brain waves), defined as patterns of rhythmic brain activity present in living human brains.

Gamma oscillations, for example, are present when concentrating, dreaming, and in memory and information.

“Through generating oscillations involved in memory retrieval, the brain may be playing a last recall of important life events just before we die, similar to the ones reported in near-death experiences,” Zemmar added.

“These findings challenge our understanding of when exactly life ends and generate important subsequent questions, such as those related to the timing of organ donation.

“As a neurosurgeon, I deal with loss at times.

“It is indescribably difficult to deliver the news of death to distraught family members.

“Something we may learn from this research is: although our loved ones have their eyes closed and are ready to leave us to rest, their brains may be replaying some of the nicest moments they experienced in their lives.”

The director’s latest film is in cinemas now

Universal announced their plans in 2017 to create a combined universe, à la the MCU, but with their movie monsters.

This was supposed to be kicked off by 2017’s The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, which also featured Russell Crowe as Dr Henry Jekyll.

This was eventually supposed to lead to an Invisible Man film starring Johnny Depp, as well as a Bride of Frankenstein movie with Javier Bardem as the monster.

In addition, Universal announced a further slate of films, including a Wolf Man film.

Due to backlash to the announcement and the critical and financial failure of The Mummy, the studio pivoted and cancelled their plans.

Instead, several of the projects were turned into solo films, with Whannell directing The Invisible Man in 2020 (with Depp being replaced by Oliver Jackson-Cohen), and Wolf Man, which released January 17.

In addition to this, an upcoming Frankenstein film directed by Guillermo Del Toro is set to release this year starring Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Oscar Isaac.

In an exclusive interview with LADbible, Whannell revealed that both projects he was involved in took place after ‘The Dark Universe’ was canned.

When asked why he thinks the project failed, he said: “I mean, it’s interesting, because these characters individually, you know, they were never written as a team.

“Obviously, originally you know Dracula and Frankenstein, they’re these great works of literature. It’s been over the years that they’ve started to be lumped together.

“I’m sure when Frankenstein was first released as a book, there was no intention of putting it next to Dracula.

“But all of a sudden in pop culture, it seeped in so far that, you know, my kids watch these animated movies like Hotel Transylvania, where all the monsters are all together in the cast. In a weird way, culture is the thing that’s grouped them together.

“What I think about these current movies is, I actually think that each of these characters is so unique and individual that it’s, I almost think you’re doing a disservice to them to put them all together.”

He went on to add: “I don’t want to see Frankenstein team up with Dracula. I want to see a movie about Frankenstein and Frankenstein’s monster, and now that I know Guillermo del Toro is doing that movie, I’m so excited because he’s obsessed.”

Whannell revealed that, in a visit to del Toro’s house to paint monster masks, he was shown a room in the directors house that was entirely Frankenstein related, saying he ‘has this amazing office filled with artifacts’.

“His life is so devoted to the art of these that I definitely don’t want to see him kill two or three birds with one stone. I want to see his Frankenstein movie exactly. You want focus.

“Focus is best, because you, once you start putting too many people together, I feel like your focus gets split up.”

In photos of the outing, Martin wore a casual gray long-sleeved shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and a black graphic baseball cap. Johnson, 35, matched his casual style in a fitted black tank midi dress, black sneakers, and a similar cap.

The couple’s trip to India also included a cultural highlight. According to footage shared on Instagram, the pair were seen participating in a religious ceremony at Babulnath Temple, an ancient Hindu place of worship in Mumbai, ahead of Coldplay’s concerts in the country.

For the ceremony, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress wore a printed cotton suit and respectfully covered her head with a scarf. Martin also embraced the traditional attire, opting for a pastel blue kurta and accessorizing with a Rudraksha bead necklace.

Johnson and Martin have been romantically linked since 2017. Despite maintaining a low profile, their relationship has been a topic of much speculation over the years.

In December 2020, Johnson was seen wearing a large emerald ring, which sparked engagement rumors. Sources later confirmed that it was indeed an engagement ring, although the couple remained silent on the matter.

A source close to the star pair revealed in March 2024, “They got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married.” The same source added that their relationship has had its ups and downs over the years.

The actress’s father, Don Johnson, addressed the engagement rumors during a 2020 appearance on “Good Day New York.” When asked about the couple’s plans, he said, “Oh god. The soap opera star, best known for portraying Dario Hernandez in “Days of Our Lives,” tragically passed away at the age of 39 on January 16, 2025.

Francisco San Martin, who started his career in theatre shows as a child, was found dead at his Los Angeles home.

As per the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, San Martin is believed to have died by suicide and the case’s status is currently open. His passing has shocked fans, who remember him for his first soap opera role as Dario Hernandez on “Days of Our Lives.” He appeared in several episodes of this production from 2010 to 2011.

The actor also featured in “The Bold and the Beautiful,” where he portrayed Mateo, a groundskeeper, in 16 episodes. San Martin had a notable role in “Jane the Virgin” starring Gina Rodriguez. He portrayed Fabian Regalo del Cielo and appeared in Seasons 3 and 4.

San Martin was born on August 27, 1985, on the island of Mallorca, Spain, before moving to Montana, where he began his acting career in children’s theatre.

During these years, the actress’s filmography became more selective following her blockbuster hits like “What Women Want” and “Cast Away” in 2000.

“I thought, April has to want something really badly. It has to be something we can watch her go after. And I always wanted a baby very badly, so it just seemed right that she should want a baby. People have asked if it’s my story, and on the surface it is,” Helen said.

The actress also chose projects that allowed her to maintain her family life, such as “Soul Surfer,” a 2011 film she shot in Oahu, Hawaii, with her daughter by her side. “They were like, ‘Do you want to go to Oahu and bring your daughter and surf in a movie?’ I went, ‘Okay!'” Helen joked.

Her passion for theater began at the age of five, nurtured by her father, who was an acting coach and theater director. Helen often attended productions with him and vividly recalls watching the original production of “Godspell” in a church basement.

That experience, she shared, was transformative. “That was it,” she said, adding that she wasn’t sure whether she wanted to act, sing, or direct—she just knew she wanted to be part of the theater world.

However, 2016 was a year of heartbreak for Helen, as she dealt with the loss of her father. She admitted that his absence deeply affected her love for theater, saying, “Every time I see a play, I think of him, because he was always so excited when the lights began to go down. And I am, too.”

Born in New York City on February 8, 1949, to Rosalind, an actress, and Robert Kaufmann Adams, a CBS executive, this Hollywood star’s journey into showbiz seemed predestined.

Her childhood was steeped in the arts, with her father heavily involved in musicals. “My father had a tent in Michigan where he staged musicals, and we spent our summers there,” she recalled.

“In Manhattan, we lived in a townhouse and Lynne [her sister] and I slept in what was the parlor in the house. The piano was in there and we’d often wake up in the morning to somebody auditioning in our bedroom and a line of actors out in the hall,” the actress added.

“Tony and I met doing a play. We were instantly drawn to each other, but he had a girlfriend, and he was a gentleman. However misguided I thought his loyalty was, I was very impressed,” she shared.

“I was going to award shows with him [Shalhoub], and they were pushing me out of the way to get a picture of him. It was horrible. That’s when I said, ‘I’ve got to just say I’m not an actor anymore’ because at least that will feel like I’m taking charge,” the actress revealed.

“Then there was a moment when I actually said, ‘Damn it, I’m leaving.’ Sort of hoping that everybody would say, ‘You can’t! You can’t!’ And nobody did. I think it’s especially hard for someone who was really considered a beauty,” she said.

The “Days of Heaven” star continued, “It’s just very hard to suddenly become invisible when you walk on the street, not to get those looks from men — all of that stuff that you kind of take for granted and pretend you don’t care about or don’t like, but you rely on a lot.”

Yet, she embraced this new chapter, prioritizing family. She adopted a daughter, Josie, in 1988 as a single mother. After her marriage, she and Shalhoub adopted another daughter, Sophie.

“It’s such a weird thing to be a mother. Being a mother is more like being wallpaper. It’s not being the center of attention. And so I think for a woman who’s a mother, it is very hard to be an actress, to get all excited about yourself in the center seat,” she explained.

When the actress officially bid farewell to show business in the 1990s, she was in her 40s. “I tried to bring her out of retirement,” the actress’s longtime friend, actor Caroline Aaron, said.
