She rose to fame for her undeniable talent in front of the camera, earning acclaim for her performances in notable films. Behind the scenes, however, she was battling the relentless pressures of maintaining a leading-lady image.

From Stardom to Industry Battles

This icon emerged as a most versatile Hollywood actress in the 1960s, captivating audiences with unforgettable performances in films like “Midnight Cowboy” and “Once Is Not Enough.”

Her talent and determination earned her critical acclaim, including an Emmy win in 1974 for her role in “The Shape of Things.” Despite the accolades, she faced constant scrutiny from an industry obsessed with image and perfection.

In a 2015 interview, she reflected on her career and the significance of her achievements. When asked whether her Golden Globe, Emmy, and Academy Award nominations would carry more weight if she received them in today’s industry, she replied candidly, “No, I don’t think so.”

Still, the actress admitted that winning the Academy Award in 1975 for “Once Is Not Enough” would have been a career-defining moment. Instead, the honor went to Lee Grant for “Shampoo.” The “Sara” star laughed as she recalled Grant’s gracious words on Oscar night, “Well honey, I’m older.”

Amid her professional journey, this actress also found love with a young Michael Douglas. The pair first crossed paths while filming “Summertree,” and their connection was instant. She described him as a “handsome colt,” brimming with youthful charm.

Their romance blossomed into a seven-year relationship, one that was unconventional yet deeply meaningful. True to the free-spirited ethos of the 1970s, they even held a hippie wedding in her agent’s backyard — a simple ceremony without rings or formal vows.

Marriage, she explained, wasn’t necessary in their bohemian lifestyle. “At that time, it wasn’t the thing to do,” she said. Although their relationship eventually ended, it remained an integral chapter of her life.

While her personal life garnered attention, she also grappled with the immense pressure to maintain a flawless image. The entertainment industry’s unforgiving standards often overshadowed her immense talent, forcing her to confront insecurities about her weight.

A self-professed compulsive eater, she found herself struggling to meet Hollywood’s demands to be thin. Her love for pasta and indulgent meals at her mother’s Dallas restaurant, Mario’s, clashed with an industry that prioritized appearance.

Determined to reclaim her career and confidence, the actress enrolled in UCLA’s Optifast program, losing 37 pounds in just six weeks. The transformation not only revitalized her physically but also reshaped her perspective.

“Since losing all those pounds, I feel a lot better psychologically as well as physically,” she once said. However, the experience also exposed the harsh realities of the industry.

“I’ve been told dozens of times they want me to be thin for my roles. The people who count in this business demand it. Producers, and the public, I guess, want their actresses to have the siren, sexy look,” she remarked.

The Hollywood star acknowledged that being heavier had cost her roles, noting, “No actress ever lost a role because she was too thin.” Her humor remained intact, though, as she joked about the extremes of Hollywood’s beauty standards, calling herself Bulbous Brenda during her heavier days and Reedy Wilma after her weight loss.

Though the challenges were taxing, she eventually found peace in prioritizing her well-being and embracing her individuality. As the years passed, she adopted a more reflective outlook, no longer feeling the need to prove herself to anyone.

Instead, she embraced the wisdom and grace that came with age, inspiring fans and earning admiration for her timeless beauty and confidence in her 80s.

This next chapter of her life would demonstrate that her legacy was far from over, as she continued to captivate and inspire with every passing year.

Embracing Life with Confidence and Grace

After decades of navigating the highs and lows of the entertainment industry, Brenda Vaccaro reached a point where she no longer felt the need to prove herself. Reflecting on her career, she acknowledged that while opportunities for actresses her age were scarce, she had made her mark.

“If you say my name, people will know who I am and what I do,” she said, addressing the respect she had earned over the years. She humorously compared competing for roles at her age to “a bunch of Italian widows sitting in chairs in a room,” all leaping at the chance when a job became available.

While she admitted she would still love to work, she added with characteristic grace, “If it comes, that’s fine. If it doesn’t, I’m marching on.” Vaccaro’s confidence extends beyond her career and into her views on aging.

The actress has a refreshingly youthful mindset, rejecting the notion of feeling her years. “I don’t think of age, I just don’t,” she shared. “And I sit up in bed after I have a birthday and I go, ‘But I feel 15.'” The passage of time puzzled her occasionally, but she accepted it with humor, asking herself, “Where did it go? Did it really go, all those years?”

However, while she embraces her youthful spirit, Vaccaro doesn’t shy away from the realities of aging. She speaks candidly about the inevitable losses and changes that come with time. “I feel as life changes and you get older there are two things you really have to accept. One is loss, and the other is changes,” she said.

The “Midnight Cowboy” star acknowledged the heartbreak of losing loved ones and the challenges of physical changes like arthritis or needing a hip replacement. But she approaches these moments with dignity, focusing on acceptance. “[…] These things have to be accepted with grace,” she emphasized.

Despite life’s difficulties, the actress, who just turned 85, radiates positivity. Laughing about how far she had come, she once remarked, “I’m having such a good time.” In 2021, she posted a stunning photo of herself on Instagram, captivating fans and followers alike.

“Ageless beauty 🙌,” one person commented in reaction to the post. “Who’s that classy, elegant, amazing woman???” another shared. A third wrote, “So beautiful 😮😍.”

Brenda Vaccaro’s journey is a testament to her resilience, humor, and self-acceptance. Despite the challenges she has faced over the years in a demanding industry, she refused to let anything define her or diminish her outlook on life, proving that confidence and beauty are timeless qualities.

Netizens are praising Steve Guttenberg for stepping in to help first responders amid the Pacific Palisades brush fire.

As the severe Pacific Palisades fire rages on, first responders continue rescue and relief efforts. Lending a helping hand is Hollywood star, Steve Guttenberg, 66, who was recently seen speaking to a KTLA 5 news reporter about how residents in the area can assist.

After evacuation orders were placed in effect for civilians northeast of Merrimac Road, northwest of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, and south to Pacific Coast Highway, residents have been leaving their homes.

However, they have been met with slow traffic along Palisades Drive and Sunset Boulevard near Highland Village, as several fire trucks are also in the area with crews battling against the raging flames.

Springing into action to assist with the obstruction caused by cars that some residents have left behind on Palisades Drive, Guttenberg, who lives nearby, has been trying to move vehicles and is urging individuals to leave their car keys behind.

Guttenberg explained that many people are treating the area as some sort of parking lot, which is further hindering critical rescue resources from gaining access to the location.

“If you leave your car [behind], leave the key in there so a guy like me can move your car so that these fire trucks can get up there. It’s really, really important,” remarked the “Police Academy” actor.

Guttenberg also pointed out that he has friends who are currently unable to evacuate due to the blockage on Palisades Drive caused by the aforementioned.

“I’m walking up there as far as I can, moving cars. There are families up there, there are pets up there. There are people who really need help,” added Guttenberg.

The “It Takes Two” talent also highlighted how instrumental it is for people to rally together during this challenging time and urged, “Don’t worry about your personal property. Just get out. Get your loved ones and get out.”

According to KTLA 5, initial reports about the fire came on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) around 10:30 a.m. Thus far, the fire has expanded to over 1,260 acres from 200 acres (by 12:30 p.m.).

The Pacific Palisades brush fire began after a red flag warning for a vast portion of Southern California had been issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Winds of up to 60 mph continue to fuel the flames, making firefighting efforts increasingly difficult. Authorities have warned that the fire’s extreme behavior, including spotting over long distances, poses a significant threat to nearby communities.

In response to the growing threat, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency to assist communities affected by the Palisades fire. He called on the residents to stay alert, take precautions, and follow emergency instructions.

Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for 15 zones in Los Angeles. Residents in LOS-Q0767, MAL-C111-A, MAL-C111-B, RMB-U030-A, SSM-U010-A, SSM-U010-B, TOP-U001, TOP-U002, TOP-U003, TOP-U004, TOP-U005, TOP-U006, TOP-U007, TOP-U008, and TOP-U009 must leave immediately for their safety.

For evacuees, an evacuation center has been set up at the Westwood Recreation Center, located at 1350 South Sepulveda Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90025. This shelter provides resources and temporary relief for residents displaced from their homes.

Additionally, several major roads in the area are closed due to the wildfire and evacuation efforts. These include Southbound Pacific Coast Highway at Las Flores Canyon Road, Southbound Pacific Coast Highway at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, and Coastline Drive and Southbound Pacific Coast Highway.

Drivers are strongly urged to avoid these areas and monitor updates from CHP-West Valley for the latest road closure information.

Firefighters from CAL FIRE, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the Los Angeles City Fire Department are working tirelessly to contain the fire. Both ground crews and aerial resources are being used to slow its spread and protect homes, infrastructure, and lives.

Man who used AI to apply to 1,000 jobs while he was sleeping wakes up to shocking results

Man who used AI to apply to 1,000 jobs while he was sleeping wakes up to shocking results

Finally a good use of AI technology

A man on Reddit has claimed his job search was changed massively after he created an AI bot.

A person on Reddit revealed through the use of an artificial intelligence bot they made that ended up making their job search a whole lot easier.

The cherry on top is that the AI bot did all the hard work while he was sleeping soundly in his bed.

The user, who has since deleted his name after posting on the ‘get employed’ board, revealed that he was able to get more than 50 interviews.

They revealed the AI did most of the heavy lifting and would rewrite his CV and cover letter while applying for jobs that he was a fit for.

They wrote: “I created an AI bot that: Analyzes candidate information, examines job descriptions, generates unique CVs and cover letters for each job, answers specific questions that recruiters ask, automatically applies to jobs.

“And all of this while I was sleeping! In just one month, this method helped me secure around 50 interviews. The tailored CVs and cover letters, customized based on each job description, made a significant difference.”

Explaining his thinking, they stated that AI is already changing the recruiting industry and highlighted that many jobs are using AI bots themselves to weed out candidates.

They also claimed that the bot that they used helped ‘effectively passing through automated screening systems.’

Which admittedly can only be a good thing.

The user claimed the bot got him around 50 interviews (Getty Stock Image)

The user at least made it clear that he is aware of the ethical considerations in this approach to getting a job.

He wrote (well who knows if he used AI or not): “Observing this technological revolution, I can’t help but reflect on the profound implications for the world of work. “While efficient, the automation of job applications raises questions about the very nature of professional relationships.

“We face a paradox: as we seek to optimize the selection process, we risk losing the human element that often makes a difference in a work environment. The challenge ahead is not just technological, but also ethical and social.

“We’ll need to find a delicate balance between the efficiency of artificial intelligence and the richness of human interactions. Only then can we build a future of work that is not just productive, but also fulfilling and meaningful for everyone.”

This move did prove to be divisive on social media with some suggesting the user is making it clear that they like to cut corners, however, others praised the user for their ingenuity and said it was all fair if companies were using AI to get rid of candidates.

What do you think? Is this just smart thinking or a dishonest practice.

Man left with third-degree burns after police pinned him to the ground in record heat

The man, who said his skin peeled off, was hospitalized for a month

Warning: This article contains graphic images

A man claims to have suffered third-degree burns after police officers pinned him to the scorching ground in a record heatwave.

Michael Kenyon, from Phoenix, Arizona, claims he was pushed, held and ‘cooked’ on the ground by police officers on July 6 last year, in the peak of a summer heat wave.

The 30-year-old said that when officers lifted him from the asphalt, his skin melted, peeled away and fell to the ground, causing third-degree burns on his face, arms, chest and legs and left him with no skin above his knees.

Kenyon’s attorney, Bobby DiCello, shared the shocking surveillance footage of the incident to CBS News, which showed him talking on his cellphone while walking a parking lot before Phoenix officers pull up in a truck.

Two officers approach Kenyon as he puts away his phone and they then attempt to handcuff him, which is when a struggle breaks out.

Two more cops are called for backup and the video appears to show the four officers pushing and holding Kenyon on the ground for more than four minutes in a move which DiCello said ‘defies all reason’.

The attorney told the news outlet: “They held a man – another human being – on a surface so hot that it caused his skin to bubble and boil.”

Kenyon’s injuries were immediately apparent once he was lifted from the asphalt as police called paramedics to attend to his burns.

Separate phone footage captured from a nearby balcony also shows Kenyon shouting out: “Please, please, I can’t move, I didn’t do anything”, KGUN reports.

DiCello said Kenyon then spent more than a month in hospital to recover from his injuries that have ‘disfigured’ and ‘scarred him for life’.

The lawyer also said officers kept Kenyon handcuffed from a hospital bed and have since filed a notice of claim for $15.53 million – or he will sue the city in federal court.

The claim accuses the police department of a lack of training and of unconstitutional practices and creating a violent culture, according to the Daily Mail.

The temperature that day was 114 degrees, with the asphalt estimated to scorch between 180 and 200 degrees.

The red-hot summer saw Phoenix endure 100 days back-to-back with at least 100 degree temperatures.

In a statement to CBS News, Phoenix police said they were responding to a call regarding a theft when they made contact with Kenyon.

“The man struggled with police, which resulted with him being taken to the ground on the hot asphalt,” the statement reads. “The man sustained burns to different parts of his body from the time he was on the ground.”

Kenyon later told ABC 15 that he believed officers stopped him in the parking lot because his roommate had reported a theft from their home across the street.

He alleged officers spoke to him in a ‘mean, hostile way’ and that he had tried to talk to them reasonably while sitting down on another person’s truck before he was taken to the ground.

“And I think that’s when like five people were on me… And I’m just screaming for help. And I’m thinking this is literally [how] George Floyd was literally like’, he continued, explaining how he thought it was ‘the end’ while the pain felt like ‘going through Hell and Hades’.

The force has since said the Professional Standards Bureau is investigating the incident.

Roman was captured in the Ukraine-Russia war for more than two years

A family who believed their son was dead for two years actually learned he is alive after spotting him in a photograph.

Valeriia Biletska and Roman Biletskiy were told their 25-year-old son, Roman Jr, died two years ago after he was captured in the Ukraine-Russia war.

The parents, who have found refuge in Bonney Lake, Washington, after fleeing the conflict in February 2022, told KIRO 7 News that Russian soldiers had captured Roman in Mariupol when he re-joined the army to defend his country.

Roman was reportedly defending civilians in the war-ravaged city in May 2022 when he was taken.

Russia’s assault on Ukraine forced the parents and their seven children to flee their hometown in Kherson to Poland.

The parents said that, while they were happy they got their children to safety, they felt ‘guilty’ leaving their eldest son behind.

Valeriia said: “I realized that we are not going home soon on the first day when we arrived to the United States. We were very happy that we got our children out of this danger that they are not hearing explosions.”

The father added: “We made a decision to go to the United States when we were in Poland.

“It was very hard for me to make this decision. But I understood in that moment, we probably won’t go back to Ukraine soon and I was worried for my son, but as a man, I respected his decision.

“I knew he was a warrior. I knew he’s strong. I was sure that he could take care of himself although I was worried.”

The family said they later received a letter from the Ukrainian government, informing them that their son had been killed in action.

Valeriia said ‘as a mother’, she felt the news couldn’t be true, believing still that he was alive.

Then, miraculously, the family spotted a photograph shared by Ukraine’s media on Monday, which showed their son sitting at the back of the bus.

Roman has apparently been freed from a Russian prison.

His mother said: “I felt like I was reborn again. It was like seeing the sun for the first time. I was very happy now that he’s safe. He’s not in danger.”

Roman Jr then managed to call his elated parents, saying: “Mom, don’t cry. Mom, I’m at home.”

His release appears to come as part of a prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine, which saw almost 190 Ukrainians freed, from military personnel to guards and civilians, according to the Associated Press.

Valeriia is now planning on flying back back to Ukraine to reunite with her son and bring him back to the US, according to a fundraiser.

The fundraiser also claims Russian soldiers took over their town, killing their sister-in-law and torturing their three-year-old nephew.

The family also said Roman is still recovering from significant injuries he has sustained during the war.

Lisa Kudrow finds note from Matthew Perry inside 'Cookie Time' jar from Friends set 20 years after filming finished

The Friends star opened up about the emotional find

Lisa Kudrow has revealed how she found a note from the late Matthew Perry inside the infamous ‘Cookie Time’ jar from the Friends set, 20 years after filming wrapped.

Over a year on from Perry’s death, and his Friends co-stars are still dealing with the loss.

Perry died at the age of 54 from the effects of ketamine on 28 October, 2023. Contributing factors in his death also included ‘drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (used to treat opioid use disorder)’, a medical examiner ruled.

The actors all keep Perry’s memory alive and constantly talk about their late friend, with Kudrow recently sharing that she stumbled across an old note that Perry had penned to her.

As a wrap gift, the Chandler Bing actor gave Kudrow the ‘Cookie Time’ jar from the Friends set, and he even put a note inside the jar, which Kudrow forgot about until recently.

Speaking recently to Drew Barrymore about it on her TV show, Kudrow – who is promoting her new Netflix series No Good Deed – said of the infamous cookie jar: “Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode. I had recently found the note that he had in it for me.

“I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.”

Kudrow didn’t reveal what the note said, but the sweet anecdote sparked Barrymore to say: “Timing is everything.”

Since Perry’s passing, Courteney Cox, who played his on-screen wife in Friends, said that the 54-year-old still ‘visits’ her.

Speaking on CBS News Sunday Morning last year, Cox shared: “I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years. He visits me a lot, if we believe in that.”

Revealing more about her spirituality, the Cougar Town star went on: “I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew. I feel like there are a lot of people that, I think, guide us.

“I do sense — I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”

Five people have been charged in connection to Perry’s death. The defendants include two doctors, Perry’s personal assistant, and two other dealers.

One of the doctors, Mark Chavez, has pleaded guilty to one federal count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

Chavez will be sentenced in a Los Angeles court in April.

Jaahnavi Kandula was fatally struck by a police car in January 2023

It’s been two years since the death of Jaahnavi Kandula, and the officer driving the police vehicle that hit her has been fired.

In January 2023, the 23-year-old college student was struck by a car driven by Seattle cop Kevin Dave.

Another officer, Daniel Auderer, was fired in relation to Kandula’s death last year, but Dave was only dropped from the force on Monday (January 6).

While Auderer was not directly involved with the incident, disturbing bodycam footage heard him laughing after learning that Kandula was dead.

Wrongly stating that the student was 26, he said that she had ‘limited value’.

Auderer had been dispatched to determine whether Dave was impaired when he hit Kandula, according to NBC News.

He was let go from the force in July 2024 for his ‘callous laughter’ regarding Kandula’s passing.

Nowm Dave has been fired as well, after the Seattle Office of Police Accountability found he had violated four department policies.

Speaking about Dave’s recent dismissal, interim police chief Sue Rahr said in an email to employees: “I believe the officer did not intend to hurt anyone that night and that he was trying to get to a possible overdose victim as quickly as possible.

“However, I cannot accept the tragic consequences of his dangerous driving.”

The email went on, as per CNN: “His positive intent does not mitigate the poor decision that caused the loss of a human life and brought discredit to the Seattle Police Department.”

His firing comes after he and the police department were slapped with a huge $110 million lawsuit from Kandula’s family back in September.

The wrongful death and negligence lawsuit suit, filed in King County Superior Court, alleges that Kandula ‘experienced terror, severe emotional distress, and severe pain and suffering before dying’ from injuries suffered when she was struck by Dave’s speeding Seattle police SUV at an unregulated crosswalk, says The Seattle Times.

Dave was driving 74 mph in a 25 mph zone at the time of the incident, knocking Kandula nearly 137 feet.

The officer performed CPR on her after she was struck, but the college student later died at Harborview Medical Center.

The trail is set to begin in September of this year – a year on from the suit being filed.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, offering glimpses of cherished memories she, her husband, and their two children shared with their beloved late adopted pet.

Meghan Markle announced on January 7, 2025, that her beagle, Guy, has died. Fans who have experienced the pain of losing their own cherished pets have shown an outpouring of love and support. They have mourned alongside her and shared in her grief.

In an emotional clip on Instagram, Meghan shared heartwarming moments of Guy bonding with the family, including playful times at the beach, relaxing in the kitchen, enjoying the garden, and lounging together.

In the caption of the video, she opened up about how Guy first came into her life. In 2015, she adopted Guy, from a kill shelter, County Animal Shelter, in Kentucky, where he was facing only a few days to live.

The Duchess noted, “I swooped him up….and fell in love,” adding, “They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy.’ And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

Meghan recalled how Guy had been with her through every chapter of her life. She reminisced about his presence during her time on the legal series “Suits,” her engagement and wedding to Prince Harry, and even as she stepped into motherhood. The Duchess is a mom to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

Guy, she noted, was always by her side, sharing in all her milestones and joys. “The quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” Meghan divulged.

The 43-year-old also narrated the sad health issues Guy endured shortly before her move to the UK. After a terrible accident, he underwent multiple surgeries and was confined to a clinic for months. Doctors doubted Guy would ever walk again. However, Meghan said that with the care of Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, his team, and her late-night visits to Surrey with Harry, Guy made an incredible recovery.

She gave deep gratitude to Noel, Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, her current vets, and her supportive community for their unwavering care for Guy during his challenging journey. “Thank you for loving him so,” she gushed.

Meghan shared that she decided to go public with the news of Guy’s passing because he will appear in her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” She added, ” I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too.”

Her grief, as profound as her love for Guy, was evident as Meghan wrote, “I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”

Meghan concluded her heartfelt tribute by expressing deep gratitude for the years of unconditional love she received from Guy. She called him “My sweet Guy,” adding, “You filled my life in ways you’ll never know ❤️‍🩹.”

As the news of the passing of Meghan’s beloved rescue spread online, fans flooded social media with words of comfort and empathy for the family.

One user acknowledged the difficulty of losing a lifelong companion, “It’s so horrible to lose a pet especially one that’s been with you through every stage of your life. feel for meg and harry and archie and lilli 🤍 [sic].”

A fellow dog lover and rescue pet owner remarked, “My heart is with their whole family. Having been owned by rescue Beagles, it’s a love that can’t be explained. Prayers for their healing….🙏🏻♥️”

Another person noted the sadness of the timing, “Sad. He was going to be part of her new show. 😢 Sad.” Guy will be featured in the first season of “With Love, Meghan.” In the trailer of the lifestyle series, he makes a cameo, lounging comfortably in his dog bed as Meghan cooks in the kitchen.

More fans have sent the Duchess heartfelt messages, with one writing: “I am sending my deepest condolences your way, losing a pet is such a painful experience. Pets are part of the family! 🐶🕊️🥺”

Another user wrote a simple yet poignant message, “Prayers for loss of fur baby.” In a touching show of support, someone commented, “Meghan and Harry, your hearts are beautiful. God loves you.” Finally, a brief but empathetic message read, “Know how hard that is, so sorry.”

Guy lived an eventful life with Meghan Markle. His journey is traced back from the kill shelter, County Animal Shelter in Kentucky to Ontario’s, A Dog’s Dream Rescue, where Meghan first met him.

According to Dolores Doherty, the founder, and owner of A Dog’s Dream Rescue, County Animal Shelter reached out to them to see if they could adopt Guy and they readily took the beagle in.

Dolores, who started the rescue in 2010, then received an email from Meghan a few weeks after they took in Guy. Meghan discovered the rescue through Petfinder and reached out, requesting to adopt a beagle. She noted that with the breed’s energetic and gentle nature, it would be a perfect fit for her.

Dolores then sent her an adoption application, which Meghan quickly filled out and returned it just 10 minutes later. She was impressed by Meghan’s quick response, which she rarely witnessed. Hence, Dolores felt Meghan’s genuine interest in adopting and invited her to an upcoming adoption event at a local pet store.

True to her word, Meghan attended, and as soon as she arrived, she was drawn to Guy. After a trial walk with him, she instantly became smitten. After Meghan and Harry met in 2016, Guy moved to the UK alongside the Duchess.

She shared this in an interview in 2017, adding that Guy was adjusting well to life in the UK. “Well, I have two dogs that I’ve had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups. And one is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is — yes he’s in the U.K., he’s been here for a while,” divulged Meghan.

In the UK, Guy got to live his own fairy-tale life. He was once spotted sitting alongside the late Queen Elizabeth, who loved dogs.

As Meghan mourns the loss of Guy, she continues to advocate for adoption over purchasing pets, a stance she has long maintained. In her Instagram message, she shared her support for the #adoptdontshop movement, encouraging others to consider giving rescued animals a chance at a loving home.

The loss of Guy comes just ahead of the launch of Markle’s highly anticipated lifestyle series, set to debut later this month. A few days back, social media lit up with reactions following her announcement of the show, “With Love, Meghan.” Fans and critics alike didn’t hold back in sharing their opinions. The result was a fiery online debate.

Meghan’s new venture premieres on Netflix on January 15, 2025. The promotional cover image for the series exudes elegance, perfectly setting the tone for the series. Meghan is captured in a stunning sleeveless long dress that flows gracefully. The outfit accentuates her natural poise. Set against a lush green backdrop, the “Suits” star radiates joy as her hair cascades down her shoulders in soft waves.

At the focus of the image, a wooden table holds a vase bursting with vibrant flowers, some of which she delicately arranges in her hands. Her bright smile, paired with the inviting and serene atmosphere, is enough to draw viewers in.

The trailer for “With Love, Meghan” also gives a delightful glimpse into the inviting world Meghan has created. It opens with Meghan in her garden, dressed in a casual outfit and apron, harvesting fresh produce. The scene transitions seamlessly to her kitchen, where she prepares ingredients for a meal, embodying her love for crafting simple joys.

“I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it,” Meghan shares. The mom of two is seen slicing into a stunning homemade three-layer cake adorned with strawberries and separated by layers of rich cream. Her voiceover reflects her passion for making meaningful gestures. She also speaks of how much she enjoys creating thoughtful treats for others.

The trailer highlights the vibrant atmosphere of the series. For instance, it shows Meghan laughing with friends like Mindy Kaling, sharing homemade drinks, and ice creams, and having heartfelt conversations. It even reveals Meghan’s foray into beekeeping, as she is shown harvesting honey with evident joy.

As lively and celebratory as the series appears, with its color, good vibes, and emphasis on food and fun, Meghan notes warmly, “We’re not in the pursuit of perfection.”

The Duchess adds, “We’re in the pursuit of joy. Love is in the details.” This sentiment shines through in a tender moment with her husband, Prince Harry, who wraps her in a loving embrace as they enjoy drinks together in their sunlit garden.

The trailer has left some viewers enchanted, offering a heartfelt promise of love, laughter, and genuine connection in every episode. However, other people feel like a lifestyle series has been overdone, with most sharing why they wouldn’t tune in.

One unimpressed viewer bluntly shared their stance, “Dont [sic] wanna watch it, will put dislike button on it.” Another user echoed a similar statement, “Defiantly not watching.” A harsher critic dismissed the show outright, “Wont [sic] be watching. Just a money grabber.”

Taking the critique a step further, someone showcased a deeply personal disdain, “No one I know will be tuning in. Can’t stand someone who is two faced [sic] and turns their back on not one but two families.” Another dismissive comment highlighted a user’s frustration with the perceived content of the series, “Just flashing her rich, privileged life.”

Others found the concept unoriginal, with one person quipping, “Martha already did this. Next,” a reference to lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart’s past ventures. Martha’s TV series “Martha Stewart Living,” ran from 1996 to 2004 and gave users tips on cooking, gardening, and flower arrangement.

However, not all reactions were negative. A fan offered their support, “Congratulations Meghan I will be watching. It sounds great 👍.” Another supporter celebrated Meghan’s efforts, “Meghan is thriving and happy, and doing good things. If anyone has a complaint on this. They are in fact tools 😒.”

A more open-minded commenter added a dose of reality to the heated debate, “I’ll tune in and have a look I can’t believe how many people personally know this couple and go on what other people say and all your families must be perfect.”

Meghan’s eight-episode lifestyle show is not just a reflection of her personal transformation but also a significant element of the $100 million Netflix partnership she shares with Harry. Filmed in Montecito, California, the series features appearances by other notable guests aside from Mindy, such as Roy Choi, Alice Waters, and other renowned chefs and close friends.

Mindy was excited when Meghan asked her to be part of her show. She revealed in an interview that her friend texted her when Mindy was two months postpartum. “The Office” star was thrilled about the chance to hang out with Meghan and eat great food.

However, as much as Meghan’s show reflects the idea that she is inviting her friends and viewers into her home, media reports have revealed that the scenes were shot in a place that isn’t her own. The show is filmed in a huge estate two miles from where the Duchess lives with her husband and two kids.

This mansion, owned by Montecito’s influential Cipolla family, is worth $8 million and consists of eight acres of avocado trees and lemon groves.

The owners of the 4,500 sq ft home, Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, are famous philanthropists. The residence boasts four bedrooms and four bathrooms, featuring elegant French doors that lead to a patio, a lush lawn, and magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.

Therefore, while Meghan is offering viewers a glimpse into her life, it’s important to note that this is not her personal residence. Instead, she’s choosing to share the joys of gardening, friendship, and entertaining in the luxurious home of the Cipolla family, all while keeping her own home private.

Even so, this is not Meghan’s first venture into the lifestyle brand space. In 2024, she launched American Riviera Orchard, a brand that focuses on home, garden, food, and general lifestyle products.

Furthermore, Meghan has been gradually returning to social media, sharing glimpses of her life. In 2025, she made her comeback on Instagram by launching a new account on New Year’s Day, debuting with a beach video reportedly filmed by Harry. Her fans are eager to see what comes next for her.

This particular type of ‘energy’ from men can be really off-putting, according to women

Women have revealed the one major trait men may think makes them more attractive, but really doesn’t.

It might be a new year, but the last time I checked, the world of dating is the same old minefield…

From endlessly scrolling through the dating apps to navigating the complexities of a new relationship, it can all get a bit disheartening – regardless of gender.

Not to mention Valentine’s Day is a mere few weeks away, reminding us singletons how truly, well, single we are…

And while February approaching might inspire us to date more, it’s import to not settle for the sake of it – after all, it’s technically still cuffing season.

Dating is even more difficult if you're not being your true self (LuckyBusiness/Getty Images)

Dating is even more difficult if you’re not being your true self (LuckyBusiness/Getty Images)

We’re told we should be our true selves while dating in order to find a real match.

But it’s understandable that some of us might adopt a slightly more animated persona to combat jangling nerves on the first few dates.

But, as the woman of Reddit have revealed, there’s a particular sort of personality trait some men might develop which is a total turn off.

Taking to the social media site, one person posed the question: “Women, what isn’t nearly as attractive as lot of guys think it is?”

Some 1,200 people responded, but there was one answer that – ironically – dominated the responses.

Women have said men who exhibit this trait make them feel 'unsafe' (Getty Stock Image)

Topping the thread was ‘alpha’ energy, which is typically used to describe ‘the most dominant, powerful, or assertive man in a particular group’.

Now, this doesn’t just mean a confident man who can make conversation – oh, no.

Alpha males are known to take it to the extreme – think: ultra-dominant, toxic-masculinity – the type that controversial influencers like Andrew Tate teach men they need to be in order to attract women.

I’m sure the majority of people don’t really believe these types of ‘alpha’ males really exist – but the majority of comments on the Reddit thread elude to their textbook characteristics.

A second person explained: “Being persistent and showing dominant energy when we’ve already said we aren’t interested even after we maybe were at first,’ as a third reckoned: “Acting like an ‘alpha’ just makes me feel like I’m not safe alone in a room with you.”

A fourth explained: “Acting macho. I want a man with emotional intelligence, not a man that punches a wall to show he cares.”

Another woman agreed that being too dominant in conversation was a turn-off, adding: “It annoys me to my core when men don’t let other people, especially women, have the floor.”

But she added that ‘men who ask questions and really listen are super attractive,’ explaining: “It shows they’re emotionally aware and engaging.”

The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has left thousands scrambling for safety, with elderly residents evacuated in little more than their nightwear and socks. Sadly, as powerful winds grounded aircraft and flames spread uncontrollably, it seems this fiery battle is far from over.

The Palisades Fire erupted with a fury that left residents fleeing for their lives, some without shoes or basic necessities, as fierce winds fueled the flames and created chaos in evacuation zones.

What started as a manageable blaze quickly spiraled out of control, forcing more than 30,000 people from their homes and leaving officials warning that the worst was “yet to come.”

The fire ignited around 10:30 a.m. near Piedra Morada Drive and, by early evening, had scorched nearly 3,000 acres. Driven by relentless winds, it grew at a staggering pace, burning the equivalent of over one football field a minute and jumping highways as residents scrambled to escape.

The intense winds — with gusts expected to reach as high as 80 mph — grounded firefighting aircraft, making it nearly impossible to contain the blaze. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart confirmed that air support had to be halted by 8 p.m. due to unsafe weather conditions.

Firefighters were left to battle the inferno from the ground, facing extreme fire behavior and unpredictable flames. The scene was eerily reminiscent of past California wildfires, particularly December’s Franklin Fire, which devastated the same region.

This time, traffic jams made the evacuation process even more perilous. Many residents abandoned their cars on congested roads, opting to run to safety on foot.

Firefighters pleaded with people to park their cars on the side of the road or leave their keys behind to allow emergency vehicles to pass. But many vehicles were left in the way, forcing crews to bulldoze cars off the streets to clear a path.

The unfolding disaster wasn’t limited to the Palisades area. In neighboring Los Angeles County, the Eaton Fire threatened Altadena and Pasadena, prompting emergency evacuations at a local elderly care facility.

Workers at The Terraces at Park Marino assisted living community rushed to evacuate around 95 residents, many of whom were in wheelchairs or on gurneys.

Video footage captured harrowing scenes of seniors bundled in shawls and thin gowns, some without shoes, sitting in a 7-Eleven parking lot as fire officials worked to secure safer accommodations.

The gravity of the situation escalated as officials warned that this fire event was far from over. UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain cautioned that the combination of strong winds and dry conditions created a recipe for disaster.

Governor Gavin Newsom echoed these concerns during an update. He stated that fire crews had been strategically positioned in areas of high fire risk, anticipating that the Palisades and Eaton Fires might not be the only blazes firefighters would need to tackle.

“We are anticipating — hopefully we’re wrong — but we’re anticipating other fires happening,” Newsom said, acknowledging the state’s vulnerability to wildfire outbreaks during extreme weather events.

Local authorities and fire departments worked tirelessly to mitigate the damage and ensure the safety of residents. The city of Santa Monica coordinated with the Los Angeles Fire Department, deploying mutual aid to assist with firefighting efforts.

Santa Monica officials remained on high alert, monitoring developments as winds continued to pose a significant threat overnight. Pasadena’s Vice Mayor, Steve Madison, urged residents to avoid the Rose Bowl Stadium parking lots.

His office posted an update on social media, writing in part, “Please be advised the Rose Bowl Stadium parking lots will be used tonight and in the coming days as a command post for Pasadena Fire and Police.”

The Palisades Fire has already caused significant damage, but with conditions expected to worsen, officials fear that more destruction lies ahead.

The National Weather Service issued a “particularly dangerous situation” warning for Los Angeles and eastern Ventura counties, which remains in effect until Thursday.

The warning cited extreme fire danger due to the combination of strong winds and low humidity — a perfect storm for wildfire outbreaks.

Swain explained that while the strongest winds were expected Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, the fire danger would remain high throughout the week due to the increasingly dry vegetation.

Swain highlighted how the wind event would have a prolonged impact on vegetation, increasing fire risk as the week progressed. “The vegetation will become progressively drier the longer the wind event goes on,” he explained.

He predicted that the driest conditions would occur toward the end of the wind event, increasing the likelihood of additional fires breaking out.

“Some of the strongest winds will be at the beginning of the event, but some of the driest vegetation will actually come at the end, and so the reality is that there’s going to be a very long period of high fire risk,” Swain added.

The dangers posed by the fires also extended to firefighters on the front lines. Crews faced a grueling battle, often unable to rely on air support.

Instead, they resorted to hand tools and hoses, trying to contain the rapidly advancing flames while navigating treacherous terrain.

The winds not only fueled the fires but also made it difficult to predict the flames’ path, forcing firefighters to remain vigilant and adapt to the fire’s unpredictable movements.

Among those raising awareness was actor Steve Guttenberg, who was seen spreading the word about evacuation orders and urging residents to take the fire seriously.
