The guy attempted to let a 20ft long, 18-stone anaconda eat him alive

Most people might do a sponsored marathon or bungee jump to raise awareness about something close to their heart, but this guy opted to be eaten by a giant snake.

Who would be mad enough to do this, I hear you ask? That would be American conservationist, Paul Rosolie.

As you probably know, the Amazon rainforest is drastically decreasing in size, with it having lost around 20 percent of its area over the last five decades.

While the data is bleak, some positive changes are being made and deforestation fell by almost 50 percent in 2023, BBC News reported at the time.

But deforestation has long been an issue in the Amazon, so Rosolie made it his life mission to try and save it.

He’s done lots of things to try and help it, but there’s one act that he did back in 2014 that Rosolie will probably go down in history for.

In a bid to raise money to help save the rainforest, the conservationist offered himself up as a 20ft long, 18 stone (114kg) green anaconda’s dinner.

The stunt featured on an episode of the Discovery Channel series Eaten Alive, and the footage was spine-chilling.

Rosolie and his team tracked down the giant anaconda in the Peruvian Amazon.

So he’d survived the ordeal, engineers created a carbon-fibre suit for Rosolie so that he wouldn’t be crushed by the snake.

Also, so the suit wouldn’t irritate the anaconda’s insides, the suit was streamlined and doused in pig’s blood.

Rosolie had a mic in the suit too so that he could stay in constant communication with his time, who were stood on the sidelines as he waited to be consumed by the huge reptile.

“The last thing I remember was seeing the snake’s mouth open, straight at my face, and then everything went black,” Rosolie recalled of the horrifying moment.

The snake was 20ft long and a whopping 18 stone (Discovery Channel)

He continued to tell Today after the experiment: “It was like being caught in a wave. I was wrapped up, and you just feel that crush.

“For over an hour, I was being constricted.”

Rosolie’s team constantly checked in on him to make sure he was OK until eventually, he felt like the snake was properly consuming him so he had to tap out.

There was some controversy after the episode showing the stunt aired, but Rosolie insisted that the snake was never in harm’s way and that a veterinary team was on hand at the time to ensure this.

Safe to say that this isn’t something to try at home, kids.

  • Sam Elliott’s wife, Katharine Ross, celebrated 84!
  • Now Ross has made peace with their only daughter after litigation and misunderstandings.
  • Sam explained why their 39 years of marriage worked.
Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross are one of Hollywood’s couples that managed to make their relationship work, as they had been married for 39 years in early 2024! Reaching so many years as a United States celebrity was quite the feat.

The actor was famous for starring in movies like “The Big Lebowski” and “Tombstone.” Sam, well-known for his bushy mustache and love for acting as a cowboy, military character, and biker, also appeared in the 2015 television series “Justified” and “The Ranch.”

In 1978, the actor and his future wife met while filming the movie “The Legacy” in London, where they played a couple. The star even got to do voice-over work as the forest fire-prevention mascot “Smokey Bear!”

His long history in the entertainment industry made him and others one of Hollywood’s most well-known leading men. Almost a decade earlier, the “A Star Is Born” actor, featured in the movie with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper as Bobby, had a small role in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

However, he never met Katharine on the set. In 2015, he explained that he didn’t talk to her back then because she was the leading lady. Sam described himself as a “shadow on the wall” and an extra compared to Katharine.

Fate did bring them together, and they fell in love, and by 2018, the couple was dividing their time between their Oregon and California homes. The actor confessed that marriage was work but worth it.

He said their relationship lasted because they had a “common sensibility.” However, another thing that played a significant role in their longevity was that they also worked at being together and the past issues that they couldn’t just walk away from, adding that things progressed well:

“Through mutual love and a mutual respect.”

The star believed that determination was essential and noted how there were valleys and peaks, but one had to push forward. The couple knew how to make an effort, take the time, and give the commitment to make their relationship everlasting.

In 2017, Katharine’s husband also felt that their love for each other made their marriage work. The “Mask” actor shared how he’d wanted two things: a movie career and a marriage and a family.

Sam could get everything he wanted, but things weren’t always smooth between his wife and their daughter. Katharine had misunderstandings with their only child, but that’s all water under the bridge now.

Katharine Made Peace at 84 with Their Only Daughter after Having Problems and Litigation

On January 29, 2024, Katharine turned 84! In September 2022, it was revealed that the actress had gotten a restraining order in 2011 against her and Sam’s daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, after she allegedly stabbed her repeatedly.

“The Graduate” star, then 71 when the incident occurred, said Cleo, then 26, had “verbally and emotionally abused” her even as a little girl. Cleo allegedly became increasingly violent at age 12 or 13, and things eventually came to a head with the attack.

Katharine filed the protective order without the help of an attorney, and it wasn’t clear what had caused the altercation. However, on Christmas Day in 2022, the mother and daughter pair appeared to have made peace.

Cleo uploaded two Instagram pictures of her and Katharine bonding while building a puzzle together. Sam’s daughter explained in the post’s captions that she and her mother loved participating in the activity together.

It seemed the pair had buried the hatchet and were on better terms by the time Katharine turned 83. Sam didn’t appear to have any issues with Cleo and had what looked like a smooth sailing relationship.

Sam Loves Walking with His Daughter near Their Malibu House

In 2017, Sam revealed that he “just really love[d]” being with Cleo, then 32. “The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot” actor said it didn’t matter what they were doing; he enjoyed it regardless, but what he loved most was taking walks with his singer/songwriter daughter.

The father-daughter pair would take walks along the beach searching for rocks near his Malibu home. In December 2008, it was revealed that the then-24-year-old Cleo would be releasing her first solo album.

Katharine’s only child was going to drop the album at the end of January 2009, a few years before their significant fallout. It was said that the musician’s influences were her “polar-opposite musical training and preferences.”

Being an only child, “The Good Dinosaur” actor’s daughter learned how to play the flute and studied some guitar in school. Despite learning to play different instruments, Cleo always considered herself a singer.

Cleo [Rose Elliott] once shared that classical opera was the best way to warm up one’s voice if one wanted to sing rock music.

Luckily, her famous parents always encouraged all her musical goals. Katharine and Sam’s daughter revealed that she had all of her parents’ old vinyl records and shared some of her favorite albums.

Cleo said she thoroughly enjoyed “Heartbeat City” by The Cars, “Eat a Peach” by the Allman Brothers, and some good ol’ Led Zeppelin. The singer also revealed how much she loved some of Madonna’s older stuff.

Sam’s daughter spent three years studying at Malibu High and then attended Colin McEwan High School. By the time she graduated from her second high school, Cleo had already found her life’s calling.

The musician trained as a classical singer with her teacher, Charity Chapman. Cleo once shared that classical opera was the best way to warm up one’s voice if one wanted to sing rock music.

She credited the music genre for not losing her voice whenever she “rocked out.” “The Stepford Wives” actress’ daughter started singing as a young girl while getting encouragement from her grandmother and preferred live performances compared to recording.

A hazing incident involving University of Missouri student Danny Santulli had devastating consequences

A teenager’s ‘pledge dad’ sent a chilling four-word text message following a near-fatal hazing incident.

In 2021, Danny Santulli started at the University of Missouri. The teenager had his whole life ahead of him, and was wanting to join the fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta (commonly referred to as Fiji).

But there was a gruelling process to join the frat house, which reportedly included Santulli being ordered to do things such as climb inside a trash can full of broken glass – something that led to him being hospitalized.

His sister Meredith, who was also a student at the University of Missouri, had urged her sibling to leave the fraternity, but Santulli refused.

Two days later, the young man was left fighting for his life.

On October 19, Santulli took part in something known as ‘Pledge Father Reveal Night’ where new recruits would formally receive a mentor from the ranks of older members (also referred to as a pledge father), Colombia Missourian reported.

The pledges, Santulli included, were reportedly forced to drink copious amounts of hard liquor and ultimately the then 19-year-old was discovered inside a car experiencing a cardiac arrest and with alcohol poisoning.

His blood alcohol level nearly six times the legal limit.

On the fateful night, Ryan Delanty was appointed at Santulli’s so-called pledge dad, and he sent a harrowing text when his ‘son’ fell ill.

According to court documents, Delanty sent a text to his friend saying: “My son is dead.”

The family’s attorney, David Bianchi, saw security footage of the event and said that Delanty handed Santulli a bottle of alcohol for him to drink through the night.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Bianchi said: “[In the videos] We see one of the fraternity members putting a tube in Danny’s mouth with a funnel at the other end and pouring beer down his throat while Danny is in the middle of consuming an entire bottle of vodka. That’s on the video.

“They were given their family bottle of alcohol and then they drank from it and they took them upstairs and for the next two hours, they drank and drink and drink.”

Fast forward to May 2024 and Delanty pleaded guilty to misdemeanor hazing and misdemeanor supplying alcohol to a minor.

He went on to be sentenced to six months behind bars.

Meanwhile, Santulli has been left unable to walk, talk and see – and now needs round-the-clock care after suffering severe brain damage.

His mother quit her job to become her son’s primary carer.

The actor has a twin brother named Michael Kutcher, who suffered from health issues so much that Ashton was willing to him his heart. Find about the twins’ relationship and how they supported each other.

Ashton also starred in the 2000 comedy film “Dude, Where’s My Car?” a box office hit. He also starred in the 2003 romantic comedies “Just Married” and “My Boss’s Daughter.”

The actor also created and produced a TV series titled “Punk’d” and was the host for eight out of ten seasons. In 2004, he starred in the lead role of the psychological film, “The Butterfly Effect.”

In the years that followed, Ashton starred in more romantic comedies like “Guess Who,” “What Happens in Vegas,” and “No Strings Attached.”

From 2011 to 2015, he played Walden Schmidt in the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” In 2013, he portrayed Steve Jobs in “Jobs,” a biographical film about the Apple founder.

Besides acting, Ashton is also a venture capitalist. He co-founded A-Grade Investments, a venture capital firm. In 2015, he announced A-Grade Investments’ successor, Sound Ventures.

Besides the companies, Ashton has also invested in several tech startups and over 60 companies, including Skype, Airbnb, Path, etc.

Ashton and actress Mila Kunis started dating in 2013 and got engaged in February 2014. In October 2014, she gave birth to their first child and daughter, Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher.

In July 2015, the couple tied the knot. They welcomed their second child and first son Dimitri Portwood Kutcher in November 2016. Ashton, Kunis, and their kids live in a sustainable farmhouse in Beverly Hills that they and architect Howard Backen designed.

ASHTON AND HIS TWIN BROTHER

Ashton and Michael’s bond began at birth, as they were born fraternal twins. However, Michael was born notably smaller than Ashton. Also, he was hardly responsive and struggled to breathe.

Despite those circumstances, he made it through thanks to his indomitable instinct to live and the work of outstanding medical staff. When Michael was 13, he struggled with developmental issues and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy before entering Kindergarten.

During Michael’s childhood, he had the love and support of his family members, including Ashton’s. His family taught him the value of his health and how to make the best of his circumstances.

Unfortunately, when Ashton and his twin brother were 13, Michael was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy. The condition caused his heart to grow four times the size of a normal one.

Doctors initially told Michael he had three to four weeks to live. However, his life expectancy was shortened to 48 hours after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Before finding a heart donor, Ashton wished he could give his heart to his twin brother. In a chat with Us Weekly, Michael recalled the moment of Ashton’s generosity. He said:

“It’s just … I can’t find the words. It’s a connection that you can’t explain. In all seriousness, we’re just very connected.”

Michael also said, “It’s an honor or deep appreciation and a deep love for someone who would sacrifice that for you,” before concluding that he could not put words to it.

Surviving another death scare opened Michael’s eyes to the fragility of life and inspired him to take charge of a future he once believed he would not have. During his chat with Us Weekly, he revealed a pivotal moment for Ashton. Michael told him:

“Every time you look at me, every time you feel sorry for me, in a way, you make me less. You make me less.”

Michael believed he was who he was for a reason – a significant part of that reason was for him to be outspoken and use his platform to advocate for disability and organ donation.

MICHAEL WAS ANGRY WITH ASHTON

Despite Michael and Ashton’s close relationship, there was a time the former was angry with his twin brother, who has been a robust support system for him throughout the years.

Several years ago, Ashton, meaning well for his twin brother, revealed that Michael had cerebral palsy on national television. However, Michael was mortified following the revelation as he had spent most of his life trying to hide his disorder. He told “Today Parents:”

“I was very angry. Very angry. I remember speaking to him about it. I didn’t want to be the face of cerebral palsy. I never talked about it.”

However, Michael’s anger towards his brother soon dissipated into gratitude as Ashton’s revelations helped change his life’s trajectory. He said Ashton did him the biggest favor he has ever done because he allowed him to be himself.

A few months after Ashton’s revelation, Michael received a call from a woman in Iowa, asking him to speak at a gala about living with cerebral palsy.

The woman had a five-year-old daughter named Bella, who had a severe form of the disease and could not talk, and despite Bella’s disabilities, she smiled so brightly.

After meeting Bella, Michael could not stop thinking about her. She made him realize that he had to let go of his shame about his condition and advocate for people like her.

There and then, Michael was ready to tell his story and knew that he would have a significant reach with a brother like Ashton.

Michael works directly with The Cerebral Palsy Foundation and Donate Life as an advocate and public speaker. He has worked on a national level to raise awareness for local and national fundraising initiatives.

Ashton paid an emotional tribute to his twin brother while receiving the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award in 2017. He said Michael’s struggle with cerebral palsy taught him that loving people is not a choice and that people are not actually all created equal.

Ashton explained that everyone is created incredibly unequal to each other in their capabilities – what they can do, how they think, and what they see.

However, he said that everyone has an equal capacity to love one another, and his brother taught him that. “The Butterfly Effect” star said he spent many years feeling bad about his and Michael’s inequalities. However, the latter frowned against it.

Ashton and Michael have had remarkable journeys individually; however, they are always there for each other. Thankfully, they have achieved so much in their lives and inspired people through their actions.

The compatibility update comes into force on New Year’s Day

Technology is forever evolving and, if I’m honest, it’s pretty darn hard to keep up with.

I mean, if you’d have told me 10 years ago that Apple would release its Vision Pro headset that allows people to interact with digital content and apps in their physical space, I’d have laughed you out of the room.

With the fast developing world of technology speeding up as each year passes, it’s no surprise that some people have given up trying to keep up with the latest releases.

However, if you’re hanging on to a particularly old cellphone and you’re a frequent WhatsApp user, then it might be time for you to bite the bullet and invest in a new model.

Why, I hear you ask? Because several older devices won’t be able to access WhatsApp services from tomorrow (January 1) onwards.

The app is making changes to its compatibility with operating systems – Android KitKat OS in particular.

Those who still have KitKat – which was released over 10 years ago – on their phones won’t be able to use WhatsApp in 2025.

However, if you still use KitKat and are able to update your device to a more recent OS, then you might just be safe, Metro Online says.

Some of the Android devices that will be affected by the change include:

  • Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
  • Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014
  • HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
  • LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
  • Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

And it’s not just Android devices that will be affected; later in 2025, older iPhones will be too.

From May 5, iPhones still using iOS 15.1 or earlier versions will no longer be able to access WhatsApp.

Some devices that will still use this iOS include the iPhone 5s; iPhone 6; and iPhone 6 Plus.

In light of the news regarding Androids and KitKat, some people have taken to social media to share their surprise that WhatsApp was still compatible with the server after all these years.

“Holy sh*t they were still supporting KitKat,” someone said on Reddit.

Others joked that if your device still uses KitKat, then it was probably time for an upgrade anyway.

A Redditor quipped: “If you’re running android that old, you might as well just use public Twitter posts to communicate because that phone is about as insecure as it can get.”

Man Kicks Out Brother After He Brought His Kids to His Wedding – Story of the Day

Man Kicks Out Brother After He Brought His Kids to His Wedding – Story of the Day

Shutterstock

I kicked my brother out of the wedding hall after he went against my decision and brought his kids to the wedding. But I’m not ashamed of it. I think it was the right decision.

My wife, Laura, and I got married days ago, and we had decided to keep the wedding children-free. To be honest, I thought that was the best decision. So when I was sending out the invites, I made sure the message was clear to everyone.

To some extent, I was sure that everyone would respect my decision and won’t bring their kids to the wedding. But there was one person I wasn’t sure of, and that was my 36-year-old brother David.

David got married at a young age and has four kids. Like every parent, those kids mean the world to him, so he takes them everywhere he and his wife go.

And trust me when I say that the kids are with him everywhere because I hadn’t witnessed even one family event in twenty-eight years of my life when David and his wife attended an event without them.

So, unlike other guests, I gave the wedding invite to him in person and even read it out loud to make sure David didn’t miss the little note at the bottom. “Kids are not allowed. Sorry for the inconvenience,” I finished reading.

“Child-free, huh?” David added in a sarcastic tone.

“Well, yeah. I think that’s the best decision!” I replied instantly.

David glared at me. “Are you out of your mind, Richard? My kids have never been excluded from any event, big or small, let alone their own uncle’s wedding!”

“I’m sorry, David,” I said after a little pause, “but it’s already been decided, and everyone has to follow the rules!”

David didn’t say anything after that. I thought he was pissed at me, so I was about to apologize again, but then he spoke up. “I get it, man, no children means no children, no worries. I won’t bring my kids!”

I was relieved David didn’t get into a fight about it and seemed to accept the rule. However, I had a hard time believing he would agree to my request so quickly. Who’d have guessed my suspicions would turn out to be true?

A week later, the wedding day came. Almost everyone in the family arrived except David and his wife. I began thinking David was furious with me because I had refused to let him bring his children to the wedding.

So I decided to phone him and apologize. But just as I was about to dial the number, my best man informed me that David and his children had arrived.

I was burning with anger, and I went straight to meet him at the entrance. I greeted the kids and asked my sister-in-law to take them back to the car. When they left, I lashed out at David.

“You can’t enter, David,” I said. “Kids are not allowed in here!”

“Calm down, Richard,” David retorted. “It’s not like your wedding will be ruined because of my kids. Why are you acting like that?”

I was furious. “Acting like that?! Didn’t I tell you about it before?”

“You did, Richard, but I didn’t think you were serious. They’re just kids, after all. You’re not going to kick me out of the hall just because I didn’t follow the rules, right?” David responded.

“Well, I can. GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, David! ” I yelled at the top of my voice.

David looked at me angrily. “You’re a lunatic, I swear. I mean, who does that to their brother?”

“I don’t want to explain anything to you now. Please leave!” I almost yelled at him.

“You know what, Richard? You’re an awful uncle and brother for sure, but you’re a simp too! I’m sure it’s your lovely Laura who has brainwashed you like this! If I were in your place, I wouldn’t have married a pathetic woman!” David said and walked away.

I was even more enraged by David’s snide remarks about Laura, and I wanted to stop him and lash out at him once more. However, our last quarrel was humiliating and loud enough for all guests, including my in-laws, to gaze at us.

My mother had to step in to calm the situation by persuading me to let it go and invite David and his family to the wedding. But I stood firm in my refusal. I was adamant about my decision and paid no attention to what others had to say.

But since that day, everyone hated me and sided with David, claiming I betrayed him and his family by acting coldly towards them when all they wanted to do was celebrate the occasion with my wife and me.

My father was furious with me for potentially and permanently destroying my relationship with David, his wife, and their children by excluding them from my wedding. David will never forget that day, he said. But first, let me explain why I did it.

I used to work for Laura’s dad’s company. He and his wife tragically died in a car accident. I was just one of the employees attending the funeral when I saw Laura for the first time.

A few days after the funeral, as I was on my way to the cabin, I met Laura at the office. She had come to collect some documents.

When I saw her, all I could think of was how sad she was during the funeral. So I asked her if she was doing well. I don’t know why but after talking to her that day, I felt like I wanted to learn more about her.

Luckily, we began meeting each other often, especially after Laura took over her dad’s position and came to the office every day. And before we realized it, we were in love.

Laura had returned to regular life somehow, but her trauma from her parents’ death remained severe, and she was undergoing treatment for that. Laura’s therapist had warned me not to do anything that might cause her mental distress.

We had gone to see a gynecologist just a few weeks before the wedding because Laura wanted to talk about her health issues and see if there would be any complications with her pregnancy. Sadly, it turned out that Laura could never become a mother.

If Laura knew this, she wouldn’t be able to bear it because she wanted to give birth and have a family. So I decided to hide the truth from her until her therapist gave me the green light. But Laura learned about it, and as I had expected, she was devastated.

I decided not to allow children to attend our wedding because I knew Laura would be even more upset if she saw them. She had even planned a court wedding because she didn’t want such a lavish wedding after receiving the sad news. But I knew she always wanted the wedding to be like this since she talked about it from the beginning of our relationship.

You can hate me for what I did, but I love Laura, and I will do anything to keep her happy.

What can we learn from this story?

  • Sometimes you have to lose something to gain something. Richard ruined his relationship with his brother because he wanted to save Laura from further depression.
  • If you love someone, you stay with them through the good and bad. Just as Richard stayed by Laura’s side every time.

Olympic winners reveal 'rough' condition of their medals just five months after the 2024 Paris Games

Winning a medal is a highlight for any athlete, and you would expect it to last a lifetime

Olympians have shared their disappointment over the state of their medals, just five months after the 2024 Paris games ended.

Winning a medal is the peak of an athlete’s career, and you would think that an Olympic medal would last a lifetime.

But many of the winners have been complaining about the quality of the medals they received, just months after the games.

They have been sharing images of the less-than-perfect medals, showcasing how much they have deteriorated just months after receiving them.

Two of the bronze medallist French swimmers have shown how badly the medals are aging.

Clement Secchi and Yohann Ndoye-Brouard won bronze in the the 4×100-metre medley relay.

“Crocodile skin,” wrote Secchi, as his teammate joked it looked more like something made 100 years ago instead.

One commenter wrote: “It looks like it was dipped in the Seine.”

Another added: “Those from Paris 1924 are in better condition.”

One was even more scathing about the event as a whole: “I’m afraid the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris were a total failure, and the question of medals was probably one of its least problems …”

“France doesn’t even know how to print coins anymore…” criticised one viewer.

However, not everybody felt it was the fault of the Olympic organizers.

“Why are you holding and wearing it? Get it cleaned professionally and then put it in an air tight case. It’s just natural patina,” said one.

Many commenters were saying it it natural due to the material used for bronze medals.

“Total nonsense. That’s patina what is shown. It’s the natural process of oxidation and corrosion of bronze due to lack of maintenance and cleaning of the metal. Color transformation and texture changes due to patina is seen on the medals. Stop complaining!”

The two French swimmers weren’t the first to complain, as other athletes have expressed their unhappiness over the quality of the medals.

Members of Team USA also shared their unhappiness.

Team USA Olympic skateboarder Nyjah Huston said: “Alright, so these Olympic medals look great when they are brand new.

“But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and then letting my friends wear it over the weekend, they are apparently not as high quality as you would think.

“I mean look at that thing, it’s looking rough. Even the front is starting to chip off a little. So I don’t know … Olympic medals, you gotta maybe step up the quality a little bit.”

British diver Yasmin Harper also said her bronze medal was ‘tarnishing’.

“There’s been some small bits of tarnishing. I think it’s water or anything that gets under metal, it’s making it go a little bit discolored, but I’m not sure,” she said back in August.

Each medal includes a piece of original iron from the Eiffel Tower.

Organizers told the Daily Mail: “Paris 2024 is aware of a social media report from an athlete whose medal is showing damage a few days after it was awarded.

“Paris 2024 is working closely with the Monnaie de Paris, the institution tasked with the production and quality control of the medals, and together with the National Olympic Committee of the athlete concerned, in order to appraise the medal to understand the circumstances and cause of the damage,” the spokesperson went on to say.

A woman who was kicked out by her rich father at sixteen for taking up with a poor man ends up living on the streets with her four children after her husband died.

Steve Walton was far from thrilled when his butler told him that Pastor Morris was waiting to see him. He was tired after a long flight from Singapore and in no mood for the man’s lectures or pleas for support for the community.

He had the pastor shown in and waved an impatient hand at his greeting. “Get on with it, man!” he snapped. “What is it that you want this time?”

“Mr. Walton, I saw Susan,” the pastor said quietly, and Steve’s heart nearly stopped. His only daughter had left his house nearly fifteen years before, never to be seen again…

“Susan?” Steve cried anxiously. “Where? When? How is she?”

“I was in Los Angeles, helping out a friend who has a mission among the homeless and that’s where I saw her,” the pastor said.

“She was a volunteer? Did you tell her I’ve been looking for her?” asked Steve.

“No,” Pastor Morris said gently. “She wasn’t a volunteer, Mr. Walton. She’s homeless. She and her children are living in a car.”

Steve found himself so dizzy he had to sit down. “Homeless? My Susan? Children?” he gasped.

“I’m afraid so,” the pastor said. “And she wouldn’t even listen to me when I told her to come home.”

“But why?” asked Steve angrily. “She’s not with that loser anymore, is she?”

“Her husband passed away three years ago, Mr. Walton,” the pastor explained. “And she told me she wouldn’t bring her children into a house where their father is despised.”

Steve Walton felt that old familiar wave of rage sweep through him. Fifteen years later, Susan was still defying him! He remembered the scene in his study, and Susan’s steady eyes looking into his as he ranted.

“Pregnant at sixteen, and by the GARDNER!” he’d screamed. “Well, we are going to have THAT taken care of, and HE’S fired! You will never see that man again!”

“THAT is my baby, daddy,” Susan had said in a tremulous voice. “And HE is the man I love. I’m going to marry him.”

“You marry that man and you’re on your own, Susan, do you hear?” Steve shouted furiously. “No more money, nothing! You marry him and you get out of my house!”

Susan had looked at him with tears in her eyes. “I love you, daddy,” she’d said. Then she turned around and walked away. Even though Steve had set detectives to find her, no one had been able to trace her.

“How many children?” he asked Pastor Morris.

“Four,” the pastor said. “Three girls and a boy. Beautiful children.”

Steve picked up his phone and spat out orders for his plane to be readied. “Pastor, would you come with me to Los Angeles, take me to my little girl?” he asked quietly.

The pastor nodded, and within two hours, the two men were on board Steve’s private jet winging their way south. There was a limo waiting for them, and the pastor directed them to a parking lot outside a large mall.

At the furthest end of the lot, a pickup truck was parked, with a tent set up at the back. Pastor Morris had told Steve that when Susan’s husband died in a work accident, the insurance company had refused to pay out and the bank foreclosed on the mortgage.

Susan had piled the children and their few belongings into the old pickup. She worked at the mall as a cleaner. She and the children used the mall’s facilities and bought whatever was leftover at the restaurants at the end of the night.

Still, she had managed to keep the four children fed, clean, and in school. As the two men approached the truck, they heard cheerful voices and laughter. Then two children tumbled out of the back.

The biggest girl, about fourteen, was laughing as she tickled a boy of about seven. The children stopped and gaped at Steve and Pastor Morris. “Mom!” the girl yelled. “That old preacher friend of yours is here!”

A well-remembered voice asked from inside the tent, “Preacher Morris?” Then Susan climbed out and Steve could see the shock in her face when she saw him standing next to the pastor.

“Daddy?” she asked, and her eyes filled with tears.

Steve was shocked. His daughter was barely thirty-one, but she looked much older. Her face was worn and lined with worry and suffering, her hands coarsened by hard work.

“Susan,” Steve cried. “Look at you! Look at what HE did to my princess! I wanted so much for you! And you married that loser! What could he give you? Poverty?”

Susan shook her head and said, “He loved me, daddy, and he gave me 4 beautiful children. He died, and I had nowhere to go, but I’ve done what I can for my children. I will always love the father of my children, daddy, just like I’ve always loved you.”

Steve found that he had tears running down his face. “Forgive me, Susan,” he sobbed. “Please forgive me. Come home, I want you all to come home with me. Let me help you take care of the children!”

Steve found himself holding his weeping daughter and knew that everything was going to be alright. Susan introduced him to his three granddaughters, then she placed her hand on the boy’s shoulder. “And this,” she smiled, “is little Stevie!”

“You named him after me?” Steve asked, astounded. “After what I did?”

That afternoon, they all flew home to Texas. It was the beginning of a better life for all of them.

What can we learn from this story?

  • Love and accept your children unconditionally. Steve was furious with Susan for loving a poor man and made the biggest mistake of his life by losing his daughter.
  • Don’t judge people for their wealth or influence. Steve hated his son-in-law because he was poor, but he was a loving husband to Susan and a dedicated dad.

‘He died a hero’, his heartbroken mother has said

The chilling final words of a young man who was reportedly ‘shot in the head’ by his own father while protecting his pregnant fiancée have been revealed.

Kevin Ward had stopped by his father’s home in High Ridge on Christmas Eve when the pair reportedly became embroiled in a heated argument which resulted in a fatal gunshot to the head, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The 26-year-old and his pregnant fiancée, Kaitlyn, were due to celebrate Christmas at Kevin’s mom’s house, Katherine Ward, but decided to briefly visit his father, Harold Luster, having made the trip home from St. Louis.

However, Kevin tragically didn’t make it to his mom’s for the holidays.

The incident reportedly unfolded as Kevin and Harold argued over cheating allegations relating to Katherine – and the 61-year-old allegedly initially pulled a gun out on Kaitlyn.

The Kansas City Star reports that Harold suspected Kaitlyn had been ‘withholding information’ and said to the fiancee, ‘do you wanna get shot?’

From there, the situation escalated. Kevin told her ‘to run and call 911 if something happened’ as he stepped in and tried to calm the situation.

CCTV footage from a neighbor’s home shows a flash went off and a victim falling to the ground with an apparent injury to the head.

When police and emergency services arrived at the scene, Kevin was found deceased with his hands in his pockets.

Harold has since been charged with first-degree murder and armed with criminal action.

He has been jailed without bond.

Now, court documents reveal the chilling final words Kevin uttered before he was fatally shot.

Speaking to his father, he reportedly said: “You’re not going to shoot her”, to which Harold allegedly replied: “You wanna get shot instead?”

Kaitlyn then claimed to see her soon-to-be father-in-law shoot a single shot at Kevin’s head before he collapsed to the ground.

Kevin’s heartbroken mother has since spoken out about the traumatic loss of her son in her appeal for justice.

“A senseless act took my baby away from me”, Katherine said to KSDK on Friday, before recounting some details of the altercation.

She continued: “[Harold] and another family member had been arguing prior, that did not have nothing to do with Kevin.

“He was already worked up over that incident.”

The mom also claimed Harold had called her during the heated argument and could hear her son saying: ‘Dad, why are you doing this? I don’t deserve this’, before he ended the call.

“Kevin died with a gunshot to his forehead and his hands tucked in his pockets”, she continued, “He was ultimately going to shoot Kevin’s fiancée and Kevin sacrificed himself, he was the hero that night.

“He would rather die than have her and that baby taken.”

When Jason’s estranged parents show up demanding the house he left behind, Alice is thrust into a battle she never expected. Grieving and determined, she agrees to consider their claim, but only if they can answer the one question that haunted Jason until his final days.

There are moments in life that change everything, and for Jason and me, that moment happened when we were 17. I’ll never forget the day he showed up at my door, eyes red from crying, with nothing but a backpack and a broken heart.

His parents had thrown him out like he was nothing, without even giving him a proper reason. My mom didn’t even hesitate; she took one look at him and knew. From that day on, he was part of our family.

We leaned on each other through all the awkward years of high school and the stress of college. I went into HR because, well, people are complicated, and I liked figuring them out. Jason? He was a genius with computers, always able to make sense of the things I couldn’t.

We were a team, balancing each other out perfectly. Then, four years ago, life hit us with the worst blow imaginable.

Jason was diagnosed with bone cancer. It was like the universe decided we’d had too many good years, and it was time to even the score.

But even then, we stayed strong. I picked up more hours, handled the mortgage on the house Jason had bought, and kept us going.

And Jason, in his quiet, stubborn way, held onto this hope that maybe his parents would come around. But they didn’t.

Jason’s funeral was barely a month ago, and I was still drowning in the grief of it all when his family came knocking. The very people who had abandoned him when he needed them most were now standing on my doorstep like they had every right to be there.

I remember opening the door, my heart in my throat, not knowing what to expect. But I certainly wasn’t expecting this.

Susan, Jason’s mom, looked at me with this fake sweetness that made my skin crawl.

“Alice, dear,” she began, her voice dripping with insincerity, “we were so sorry to hear about Jason. It must be so difficult for you, living here all alone.”

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. What could I possibly say to her? She wasn’t here for Jason. She never had been.

Charles, his dad, didn’t waste any time. “We need to talk about the house,” he said, his tone cold and businesslike. “Jason was our son, and this house should be ours now.”

The words hit me like a punch to the gut. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “What do you mean, ‘yours’? Jason bought this house, and I’ve been paying the mortgage. It’s in my name.”

That’s when their lawyer, who had been standing off to the side like some silent executioner, decided to chime in.

“Legally speaking,” he began, his voice smooth and practiced, “as Jason’s next of kin, his parents have a rightful claim to the property. Without a will, the law generally favors the immediate family.”

“You think you can just come in here, after all this time, and take his house? You didn’t care about him when he was alive, and now you want what was his?”

Susan’s face hardened, the facade cracking just a little. “Alice, we’re his family. Blood is thicker than water. Jason would have wanted us to have this house, to keep it in the family.”

I could feel the anger bubbling inside me, but I forced myself to stay calm.

“Jason put this house in my name over a year ago, after he got sick. We knew this might happen, and we made sure everything was legal. You don’t have a claim here. If you want this house, you can buy it from me for the price I paid Jason plus the four years of mortgage payments I made on it.”

Charles stepped forward, his voice low and threatening. “You know we can’t afford that, you selfish little… you know well that Jason would’ve wanted us to have this house. You transfer the mortgage to our name, and we’ll take over the payments. That’s my best offer. We’ll fight you in court if we have to.”

I met his gaze, refusing to back down. “You do what you have to, Charles. But before you go charging into court, there’s something you should know.”

They all froze, a flicker of uncertainty passing over their faces. Good. Let them feel a fraction of the fear they’d caused Jason to feel all those years ago.

I turned and walked over to the sideboard in the living room, opening a drawer that had become far too familiar over the past month. Inside was a single envelope, worn and creased from being handled so many times.

I held it up, the weight almost crushing in its simplicity.

“This,” I said, walking back toward them, “is what Jason left to you. It’s his final letter.”

Susan’s eyes lit up with something I couldn’t quite place — hope, greed, desperation, maybe all three. “A letter?” she asked, her voice trembling. “What does it say?”

I handed the envelope to her, watching as her fingers trembled slightly as she took it. “Why don’t you read it and find out?”

She hesitated, then slowly opened the envelope, pulling out the single sheet of paper inside.

As she began to read, Charles and Jason’s brother, Mark, leaned in, their expressions a mix of anticipation and something darker.

But that hope in their eyes soon dimmed, replaced by cold, hard anger. Jason’s letter wasn’t what they had expected.

“I’m sorry,” Jason had written, “that I wasn’t the son you wanted me to be. But I’ve learned to forgive you for the pain you caused, and I hope one day you can forgive yourselves, too. I wish things could have been different, but I’ve made peace with what is.”

The room was silent as they finished reading, the weight of Jason’s words hanging heavy in the air. For a moment, nobody spoke. They just stood there, staring at the letter like it was some cruel joke.

Finally, Susan looked up, her face twisted with something that might have been grief but was more likely disappointment.

“This… this isn’t what we expected,” she said, her voice flat.

I couldn’t help the bitter smile that tugged at my lips.

“No, I suppose it isn’t. You came here thinking you could claim what wasn’t yours, that you could somehow make up for the years you lost with him by taking something from me. But all Jason left you was his forgiveness. And honestly, that’s more than you deserve.”

Charles clenched his fists, his anger palpable. “You think you’re so righteous, don’t you? Sitting here in his house, pretending like you were the only one who ever cared about him.”

I took a deep breath, steadying myself.

This was the moment I had been dreading and preparing for in equal measure.

“No, Charles, I don’t think I’m righteous. But I do know that I was there for Jason when you weren’t. I was the one who held his hand when he was scared, who made sure he had a home when you turned him out. And if you want to take this house from me, you’re going to have to give me something you’ve never given Jason: an honest answer.”

They all stared at me, their anger momentarily silenced by the gravity of my words.

“Why did you cut ties with your own son? Why did you ignore his attempts to reconcile? If you can answer those questions honestly, without lies or excuses, I’ll consider your request. But if you can’t, then you have no right to anything he left behind.”

The silence that followed was thick and suffocating. Their lawyer shifted uncomfortably, glancing at them like he wished he were anywhere but here.

Susan’s eyes darted around the room, looking anywhere but at me, while Charles seemed to be searching for the right words, his mouth opening and closing as if the truth was stuck somewhere deep inside him.

Finally, it was Susan who broke the silence, her voice a whisper. “We were… He didn’t want to do what we wanted, and we… we thought it was better that he’d live without us.”

Her words hung in the air, hollow and empty, devoid of any real remorse.

They knew it, too. I could see it in their faces, the dawning realization that there was no justification for what they had done, no excuse that could erase the pain they had caused their son.

I shook my head, a sad smile tugging at my lips. “That’s not good enough. It’ll never be good enough.”

The lawyer, sensing the futility of their situation, stepped forward, clearing his throat. “I think it’s best if we leave, Mr. and Mrs. Miller. There’s nothing more to be done here.”

They looked at him, then back at me, and for the first time, I saw something in their eyes that wasn’t anger or entitlement. It was defeat. Pure and simple.

Without another word, they turned and walked out of the house, their footsteps echoing in the quiet hallway. I followed them to the door, watching as they got into their car and drove away, the weight of what had just happened settling over me like a blanket.

As I closed the door behind them, I felt a mix of sorrow and relief, a strange combination that left me feeling empty and full simultaneously.

Jason was gone, but in the end, I had protected his memory and legacy from those who didn’t deserve it. And that, at least, was something.

With a final sigh, I locked the door, the sound of the deadbolt sliding into place a quiet affirmation of everything I’d fought for. The house was mine, no; it was ours. And I would carry Jason’s memory with me in these walls and my heart for as long as I lived.
