Julia Wandelt was arrested yesterday after flying to the UK

A 23-year-old Polish woman who went viral online after claiming to be missing child Madeleine McCann has been arrested after flying in to the UK.

According to MailOnline, Julia Wandelt had flown into Bristol from the Polish city of Wroclaw yesterday (19 February) and was reportedly planning on meeting a friend in Cardiff.

However Wandelt and her friend, who is said to be in her 60s, were arrested by police upon the Polish national’s arrival into the country.

Leicestershire police has confirmed that two women were arrested after landing in Bristol, with a force spokesperson issuing the following statement to LADbible: “Last night (Wednesday 19 February) two women were arrested at Bristol Airport as part of an ongoing investigation.

“A 23-year-old woman from Poland and a 60-year-old woman from Wales were arrested on suspicion of stalking involving serious alarm/distress. They both remain in custody and enquiries are continuing.”

The spokesperson added that the two women are yet to be formally charged.

Leicestershire Police’s statement comes after Wandelt’s representative Surjit Singh Clair revealed the news of her arrest to MailOnline with the following statement: “I’m trying to find out what’s happened but it appears Julia has been arrested at Bristol Airport this evening just after she got off the plane.

“The police have reportedly arrested her on an allegation of stalking and harassing the McCanns.”

Wandelt became famous online in February 2023 after appearing on Instagram under the handle @IAmMadeleineMcCann.

Three-year-old Madeleine disappeared from her family’s hotel apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz region in 2007, with her story going on to become one of the most famous missing person’s cases in modern history.

Numerous theories about what happened to the Leicestershire toddler have emerged over the years, however no concrete evidence has been found in regards to her disappearance.

After making the account Wandelt would go on to do a number of interviews regarding her claims to be missing Maddie, including an appearance on Dr Phil.

Wandelt also appeared on an episode of Break The Ice podcast to claim that she had similar scars to the missing child as well as memories about the abduction.

However a DNA test taken by the 23-year-old later revealed that she was in fact ‘100% Polish’.

Wandelt’s legal representative and psychic medium, Dr. Fia Johansson, previously told Radar Online that Wandelt had undertaken a DNA test in 2023 and the results disproved any links between her and the McCann family.

“The results of this test showed that she is absolutely 100 percent from Poland,” Dr Johansson said.

“She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian, but the test results show she is Polish.”

Wandelt later apologised to Kate and Gerry McCann in January 2024, stating that she ‘never meant to hurt anyone’.

“It’s as if he’s playing to the GoFundMe website”

People are questioning whether or not Drake has any genuine fans after seeing the signs displayed at one of his Australian concerts.

Fans holding up signs in hopes of catching their idol’s attention isn’t anything new at concerts, however it’s the nature of the requests which are raising eyebrows online.

The Canadian rapper’s Australian tour seems to have made it into the headlines for every reason but music, with the 38-year-old seemingly rumbled by fans for his role in a drone video promoting a gambling company.

In this story, Drake had finally made it onstage to perform, only to be overshadowed by fan behaviour at his Sydney show.

An image shared on social media by Complex, taken from behind the singer, showed fans of the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker begging for cash to pay for holidays, cars, hospital bills and more.

Examples of Drake’s fans begging for money

“Help me buy an engagement ring,” read one of the signs, while another fan held up the following message: “Papi help pay off my mum’s mortgage.”

The picture has since gone viral online as people were shocked to see the shameless behaviour from fans.

“Do they like his music or are they all just there begging for money,” one person replied to the image.

“When did signs become just people asking for s**t,” a second person wrote, while a third added: “It’s as if he’s playing to the GoFundMe website.”

“All they do is look at me, see me as opportunity,” another penned, referencing a lyric in Drake’s recent song ‘When He’s Gone’ with PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Why do Drake fans ask for money at concerts?

In all fairness to Drake’s fanbase, they didn’t all wake up one morning and decide to be cheeky en masse — as the rapper previously decided it was in God’s plan to hand out fistfuls of cash to lucky souls in the right place at the right time.

In his Anita Max Win tour across Oceania alone he’s promised $30,000 and VIP seats to a pregnant woman he spotted in the standing area as well as handing about another $30,000 to a fan hoping to quit their job at McDonalds.

Which equals around £23,783 or £15,165, depending on whether Drake is signing checks in American or Australian dollars.

This isn’t including the one lucky couple who decided the concert was the perfect spot for a romantic proposal, as Drake congratulated the pair with a free honeymoon and $25,000 for good measure.

Proving that it does pay to be cheeky sometimes.

Encouraged by Drake or not, the idea of fans attending a concert with the hopes of coming away with more money in their pockets still paints a grim image of the state of our music industry, summed up by one fan who wrote: “Drake aside (literally replace him with any celeb), this is one of the most genuinely dystopian photographs I’ve seen in recent months.”

Plans are revealed as family give in to pressure to sell $11,000,000 house after developers built a neighborhood around them

Agents from Ray White Robertson were able to tempt the family into selling up their Eight Mile Plains home

The owners of a sprawling home who have tried to fight off developers have finally caved after a hefty neighborhood was built all around them.

A family in Brisbane, Australia, brushed off housing developers when they tried to buy their 1.21 hectare home on Gaskell Street for $8 million some years ago.

Since then, dozens upon dozens of houses have cropped up around them as developers were given the green light by the local authority to build a whole new neighborhood in the fast-growing suburb of Eight Mile Plains where homes go, on average, for $1.5 million.

The home is the equivalent to almost three football fields (Ray White Robertson)

But the family’s estate, which spans almost three American football fields, proved a sticking point for the development as aerial photographs show a single brick house on a huge slice of luscious green land.

It sits in stark contrast to the hundreds of homes gathered around it and has been described as the ‘last remaining development site’ – and it’s a good job the family clung on as they’ve now managed to sell the premises for a whopping $11 million.

The landmark deal was secured by Ray White Robertson agents John Heng and JJ Macalino, who said the property had been acquired by the children of a couple who died a few years ago.

Mr Heng added: “They held it for a few years.”

“They did well holding out,” he continued. “When we first went to market we were looking for about $8 million.”

Aerial footage shows there are dozens of homes gathered around the property (Ray White Robertson)

The plan is to now build up to 26 new homes on the site, ranging from 300 square meters to 600 square meters.

And according to realestate.com.au, every new home that is listed for sale in Eight Mile Plains attracts an average of 1,644 interested buyers.

The listing on Ray White Robertson adds: “Without doubt this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the largest and best remaining land sites available in this established and very popular neighbourhood.

“Accessible from Gaskell Street, and backing all the way to Bordeaux Street, which runs directly behind, this enormous 1.21 hectare (12,100sq m) site is an absolute rarity and offers amazing development potential.”

The victory of stubbornness in this case is reminiscent to that of another Australian family in Sydney, who show no signs of backing down to developers anytime soon.

The Zammits have point blank refused to sell their 20,000 square meter (two hectares) home and plot of land, even for eye-watering sums.

The tenacious family have rejected offers of $50 million while their home, rather awkwardly, sits amid an endless new-build development of houses.

However, if they sold, it’s estimated the parcel of land could make way for 40 to 50 properties, each going for a million dollars or more.

As a result, the family told those who wish to level their property and throw up loads of expensive houses on the site to keep ‘dreaming’… Iconic.

He plays a former president after a deadly cyber attack is launched on the US

A new thriller series has just landed on Netflix and has got Robert De Niro leading a star-studded cast.

This is Zero Day, which stars De Niro as George Mullen, a former US president who is called on to help calm things down after the US is hit by a devastating cyber attack.

Thousands of people die, everyone panics after getting the message ‘this will happen again’ from the hackers and the nation turns to De Niro’s respected elder statesman for answers.

“That’s the spine of my character in the show,” the celebrated actor said of his new TV role. “Don’t dodge anything. Don’t play games. Be honest about what’s going on so that the public knows what’s going on.”

You can tell that Zero Day is very clearly a work of fiction, can’t you?

Mullen is put in charge of the ‘Zero Day Commission’ and tasked with finding out the source of the deadly cyberattack, having to navigate a crisis-stricken world where disinformation lurks around every corner.

De Niro said that ‘right now, our actual world is scarier’, but if you want to get lost in this story there are plenty of stars for you to be dazzled by.

Joining De Niro is Black Mirror star Jesse Plemons as Mullen’s former aide, Lizzy Caplan as the former president’s daughter trying to forge her own career outside his shadow, and Angela Bassett as the current US president who calls on Mullen to come out of retirement and help fix the crisis.

It’s a serious role for De Niro, with a review from the FT saying he’s ‘bringing the requisite solemnity’ in his performance, and it’s actually a first TV role for the major movie star.

De Niro is no stranger to the serious, though for a while he did gain a bit of a reputation as a great actor who said yes to some bad roles.

Emma Raducanu breaks down in tears on court over ‘fixated’ man in the crowd

She described it as a ‘difficult experience’

Emma Raducanu has said she will be ok after a ‘difficult experience’ at the Dubai Tennis Championships after she was approached by a man displaying ‘fixated behaviour’.

The tennis star started hiding behind the umpire’s chair two games into her match against Karolina Muchová on Tuesday (18 February), with play stopped as she discussed the situation with the official.

A man was eventually removed from the court, with Raducanu appearing to use a towel to wipe away tears before returning to the match.

The man who was removed had reportedly given Raducanu a letter the day before the match, and was then spotted in the front few rows of the crowd early into her match against Muchova.

Raducanu was also comforted by her opponent, who went on to win the match, before play resumed.

The British tennis star took to social media afterwards to thank people for sending supportive messages and praised her opponent for ‘being a great sport’.

She said: “Thank you for the messages of support. Difficult experience yesterday but I’ll be okay and proud of how I came back and competed despite what happened at the start of the match.

“Thank you to Karolina for being a great sport and best of luck to her for the rest of the tournament.”

Raducanu has previously faced a stalker, who in 2022 was handed a restraining order after he walked 23 miles to her house and stole her father’s shoe as a souvenir.

The WTA has released a statement on the matter, saying: “On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was approached in a public area by a man who exhibited fixated behaviour.

“This same individual was identified in the first few rows during Emma’s match on Tuesday at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and subsequently ejected. He will be banned from all WTA events pending a threat assessment.

“Player safety is our top priority, and tournaments are advised on security best practices for international sporting events.

“The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support.

“We remain committed to collaborating with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players.”

The Dubai Tennis Championships said they ‘fully support’ the decision to ban the man from all WTA events.

The Lawn Tennis Association has been in contact with Raducanu and her team, saying that it ‘highlights issues around safety that all players, but female players in particular, can face’.

Stephen King put the show among his favourite ever

When it comes to a seal of approval for a TV show, there are few names around that carry as much weight as Stephen King.

The writer is behind some of the most iconic novels and films of all time, but is also one of the few people held in such esteem that will regularly let you know the TV and movies they have been digging.

One detective drama in particular is beloved by King, who labelled it one of his all time favourites, and you can watch it on Netflix.

While King’s approval does help, it is not one that necessarily needs it, with the series sitting at 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and widely considered one of the best British shows ever.

The series in question is Life on Mars, and it is a sci-fi detective drama that features on a number of best shows of the 21st century lists, and can be watched right now in full on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

The Guardian had it in their top 100 shows of the century, Vice had it in their top 50, and The Independent called it the best show of 2006.

Life on Mars has a simple yet mind-bending concept for those who don’t know it – a Manchester policeman in 2006 gets into a car crash.

When he wakes up, he finds himself still a policeman, but in 1973.

John Simms starred in the show (BBC)

John Simms starred in the show (BBC)

The show starred John Simm, Philip Glenister, and Liz White, and eventually got its own spin-off starring Glenister and Keeley Hawes.

The BBC show ran for two iconic seasons, both of which sit at a perfect 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. A reboot called Lazarus, which was set to close the book on the story of Simm’s Sam Tyler and Glenister’s Gene Hunt, was announced back in 2020, but plans for it were crapped three years later.

King tweeted about the show in 2020 saying: “One of my favorite shows of all time. The kind you go to when you’re feeling sad.”

Dorian Lynskey said in their review of season one for Empire Magazine: “Life On Mars’ bedrock is its deft, thought-provoking recreation of a very different Britain, an eloquent confirmation of novelist L. P. Hartley’s famous line, ‘The past is another country.'”

The show is highly regarded (BBC)

The show averages a whopping 8.4 on IMDb, with viewers just as obsessed with the series as reviewers.

One 10/10 review read: “I rarely watch TV, but I was absolutely hooked to Life on Mars.

“It was intelligent and humorous, more than I can say for most of what is on TV today!

“The plots are good and they really do portray the 70s as it was.

“This is the best TV drama I have seen in years – don’t miss it!”

Margaret Howe Lovatt was initially tasked with trying to teach dolphins to speak English

A dolphin trainer whose aquatic student ended up ‘falling in love’ with her during their lessons has admitted to giving the animal a helping hand when it began to feel aroused.

There’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d write today.

The bizarre task was taken on by Margaret Howe Lovatt after she began working alongside John Lilly; an American neuroscientist who had opened a lab with financial backing from NASA as he sought to nurture closer relationships between humans and dolphins.

During her time in the lab, Lovatt spent three months living with one particular dolphin, named Peter, as she strove to try and achieve one of Lilly’s dreams: teach the animals to speak English.

According to The Guardian, she explained: “I chose to work with Peter because he had not had any human-like sound training and the other two had.”

The research was scientific, but things became complicated after Lovatt realized that Peter was ‘very, very interested in [her] anatomy’.

Andy Williamson, who looked after the animals’ health, noted that dolphins ‘get sexual urges’, so Lovatt initially tried to help Peter by putting him back with two other female dolphins at the facility.

However, eventually it became too disruptive to continue transporting Peter to be with his female companions, so Lovatt took matters into her own hands. Literally.

Lovatt began to relieve Peter herself, ‘manually’.

Speaking in a BBC documentary, she explained: “It was just easier to incorporate that and let it happen. It was very precious, it was very gentle. Peter was right there, he knew that I was right there.”

Lovall went on to explain that while the act might have been ‘sexual’ on Peter’s side, that was not the case for her.

However, she added: “Sensuous, perhaps.”

“t would just become part of what was going on, like an itch – just get rid of it, scratch it and move on. And that’s really all it was,” she said. “I was there to get to know Peter. That was part of Peter.”

Though Lovatt was still focused on her research, she admitted her encounters with Peter began to overshadow the experiment – particularly when a story about them appeared in Hustler magazine.

“It’s a bit uncomfortable,” she said, looking back. “The worst experiment in the world, I’ve read somewhere, was me and Peter. That’s fine, I don’t mind. But that was not the point of it, nor the result of it. So I just ignore it.”

The 19-year-old was found dead after a Christmas Party

A coroner has weighed in on the death of Jaysley Beck, a 19-year-old soldier who was found dead after being sexually assaulted by her superior.

The coroner concluded that the sergeant played ‘more than a minimal part in her death’.

Her body was discovered in December 2021 at the barracks of her British army base in Wiltshire, UK.

This came months after she had made a formal complaint about the behavior of a colleague.

The inquest heard how Gunner Beck had filed a complaint against Battery Sergeant Major Michael Webber in July 2021, after an adventure training exercise at Thorney Island, near Emsworth in Hampshire.

The 19-year-old also reportedly told a friend that ‘something happened that night.’

In the inquest, according to a PA report, Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg said “I find on the balance of probabilities that the complaint should not have been dealt with by minor administrative action, by following this route it breached Army policy as it was a sexual assault carried out on a 19-year-old Gunner by a middle-aged man of senior rank and was recorded merely as inappropriate behaviour unbecoming of a warrant officer.”

In addition to this, the coroner reflected on the alleged ‘intense period of unwelcome behavior’ she received from her line manager, bombardier Ryan Mason.

The coroner explained Mason had sent 1,000 messages to Gunner Beck in October 2021 and 3,600 in November.

The teen said her boss was 'stalking' her (Family Photo/PA)

Rheinberg said: “It’s difficult to imagine the extent of the adverse effect that this must have had on Jaysley, a very young woman with problems of her own.

“Jaysley described the bombardier’s conduct as creepy and ultimately as frightening.

“Rightly or wrongly she felt he was tracking her by her phone, the bombardier denied this and I find it unlikely.”

The youngster reportedly became ‘freaked out’ by her ‘obsessive’ and ‘psychotic’ boss’, exacerbated by the bombardment of messages.

The inquest further heard there are three more ‘contributory factors’ to her death, including the ‘significant strain’ of a relationship with a married colleague, an ‘unfaithful’ previous partnership and an ‘unhealthy approach to alcohol’ and ‘binge-drinking’.

Summing up the inquest,Rheinberg said: “She was sufficiently terrified to flee the scene (after an incident), hide in the toilets, take refuge in the car and remain on the phone (to her colleague).”

He added: “How Jaysley’s complaint was handled played more than a contributory part in her death.”

President Trump teased that there are ‘hundreds of billions’ in DOGE savings

US taxpayers could be getting a hefty payout should Donald Trump go ahead with his proposed plans.

The Department of Government Efficiency (often referred to as DOGE) was created by the Trump administration last month.

The organization – which is working with SpaceX founder Elon Musk – was created to ‘dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies’ — and it’s safe to say it’s done just that.

DOGE has apparently got a lot in savings (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

DOGE has apparently got a lot in savings (Andrew Harnik/Getty Images)

What has DOGE done so far?

Since its creation, DOGE has reportedly made $55 billion in government cuts.

As per the DOGE website, this sum has been saved from ‘a combination of fraud detection/deletion, contract/lease cancellations, contract/lease renegotiations, asset sales, grant cancellations, workforce reductions, programmatic changes, and regulatory savings’.

In a recent update, DOGE said on Twitter that it had ‘terminated 18 grants for $226mm to Comprehensive Centers’, which is likely to have contributed to its $55 billion savings figure.

It’s believed that Musk has set himself the challenge of trying to save $1 trillion in annual cost cuts for the country.

What has Trump said about the DOGE savings?

Speaking yesterday (February 19), President Trump said DOGE’s savings pot is ‘incredible’.

“The numbers are incredible, Elon, so many billions — hundreds of billions,” he teased. He did not give an exact figure to back up the DOGE website’s claims of having saved $55 billion, however.

Trump continued to say of what they might do with the dividends: “There’s even under consideration a new concept where we give 20 percent of the DOGE savings to American citizens and 20 percent goes to paying down debt.”

How much might Americans get from DOGE?

Musk is said to have proposed the idea of giving $5,000 to every taxpaying American.

Dubbed the ‘DOGE Dividend’, the proposal was first put forward by James Fishback, CEO of investment firm Azoria, who has been acting as an outsider advisor for DOGE, says Forbes.

Tweeting the concept earlier this week, Fishback said: “American taxpayers deserve a ‘Doge Dividend’: 20 per cent of the money that Doge saves should be sent back to hard-working Americans as a tax refund check.

“It was their money in the first place! At $2 trillion in Doge savings and 78 million tax-paying households, this is a $5,000 refund per household, with the remaining used to pay down the national debt.”

Musk went on to respond to the suggestion, saying he would ‘check with the president’.

As for when Americans might get the check, part of the proposal shared on social media read: “79 million American households will receive a $5,000 check next summer because of President Trump’s bold leadership.”

NYU College Republicans President Resigns After ‘Inappropriate’ Remarks About Barron Trump

The president of NYU’s College Republicans stepped down from her role after speaking about Barron Trump’s life on campus. Following her resignation, the organization has attempted to recruit the president’s son.

Kaya Walker, president of New York University’s (NYU) College Republicans chapter, has resigned after allegedly making “inappropriate” remarks about President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump.

Kaya’s exact words about her fellow NYU student were, “He’s sort of like an oddity on campus,” adding, “He goes to class, he goes home.” Her remarks were featured in a Vanity Fair article published this month, while America First (AF) Post shared Kaya’s words and image on X.

The night before Donald’s second inauguration on January 20, 2025, conservative activist CJ Pearson, 22, hosted a party to honor influencers who supported the president. The following week, CJ received an email from NYU journalism student Julia Diorio.

Julia was interested in interviewing CJ for the Washington Square News, but given his ties to Barron, he quickly advised her not to approach him. However, his concern was unnecessary, as Julia had never seen the 18-year-old freshman despite his status as NYU’s most famous student.

Still, she had grown accustomed to friends and family asking about Barron, an NYU’s Stern School of Business student. As the arts editor of the school’s newspaper, Julia and her colleagues rarely covered his presence on campus.

On the other hand, Kaya was somewhat bothered by the attention surrounding him. She believed he deserved a more typical college experience. The student even recalled one of her professors joking about Barron, saying, “He doesn’t really belong here.”

In a February 17 announcement regarding Kaya’s resignation, the College Republicans of America said their former president’s statement “does not align with the values and principles” upheld by their organization.

Their statement continued, “Though Vanity Fair and The Independent unfairly framed what was said, upon review, we still found it to be inappropriate.” Kaya submitted her resignation on February 16, with the organization formally inviting the 6’7″ famous freshman to join them in “reshaping the Republican Party.”

According to the New York Post, Kaya was “forced to resign” for her comments. Social media users were divided on the issue, with one person writing, “She shouldn’t have been forced to resign. I bet he is an oddity indeed.”

Another user, reacting to the news, said, “They forced her to resign? I knew something was about to happen.” Someone else asked, “Would you trust people like this? She immediately ran to the press.”

One person questioned Kaya’s statement, writing, “‘Oddity’. [sic] He literally just goes to college and goes home like a normal person.” Meanwhile, a Barron supporter noted, “He’s a good kid. A very focused young adult. I suppose that is an oddity in today’s culture.”

Defending the president’s son, an X user stated, “He’s has [sic] a big target on his back. If other students can’t see the risk taken for him to have normalcy by going to college they aren’t paying attention. Look at the volatility on college campuses these days, trust no one.”

One person was upset by Kaya’s remarks and said, “She should mind her own business.” Another questioned, “Well she joked that professors say he doesn’t belong there. Why would she target him or speak to the press about him?” Believing Kaya’s intent was opportunistic, another user wrote, “Not the way to get your name in the paper.”

Since the announcement of her departure, Kaya has spoken to the New York Post, and she admitted, “I’ve been killing myself trying to support the conservative movement.”

The college senior continued, “I’ve put my everything into building up my chapter,” and added, “I built [attendance] up exponentially. It’s been insane, especially this past year. We’ve seen such a rise in membership and had such a great time.”

The president’s youngest child was first seen on campus on February 4 — his first public appearance since his father’s inauguration. During his New York outing, Barron wore a cream-colored sweater over a white polo shirt.

He paired the look with black pants and black-and-white Adidas sneakers while carrying a backpack. Though his behavior appeared normal, netizens focused on his appearance, with some making harsh comments about his hands.

Instagram users quickly shared their thoughts, with one person mocking, “He’s got baby hands awwww.” Another responded, “Just like daddy.” Many echoed the sentiment, with a third noting, “He has tiny hands too☝️,” while another user added, “[He’s] got his daddy’s hands.”

“He’s got small hands like his dad,” commented someone else, while another netizen laughed, writing, “Little hands 😂.” After seeing Barron’s images on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person joked, “Look at those lady hands lol. [sic]”

Another Instagram user pointed out additional similarities between Barron and his father, stating, “He looks like young Trump on maximum settings 😅💪🇺🇲.” One Instagrammer wrote, “Lookin like his daddy 😊,” while an X user praised him, saying, “Looking good. I like how he is dressed! Very impressive young man!”

For his first day back on campus, Barron was escorted by a security detail from Trump Tower. He and his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, primarily reside in the building rather than the White House.
