Donald Trump met the FIFA president on Friday ahead of the US hosting the World Cup next year

Donald Trump has provided a bizarre response to the impact his newly-imposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico will have on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

President Trump’s presidency so far has been dominated by executive orders, with the 47th POTUS signing off countless tariffs since returning to the White House.

The tariffs have been introduced to tackle what the White House has described as an ‘extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including deadly fentanyl’.

Countries such as Canada and Mexico have felt the brunt of Trump’s tariffs, creating somewhat of a trade war between the nations.

Meanwhile, Canada is imposing 25 percent tariffs on CA $155 billion of US goods, while Mexico is planning to take similar steps.

Amid the tensions between leaders, the US, Canada, and Mexico are planning to jointly host the 2026 World Cup.

And Trump announced on Friday (March 7) that he is creating a task force to prepare for the summer soccer tournament.

The task force has been set up to oversee logistics and security for the massive sporting event next year, with Trump heading up and vice president JD Vance assisting.

“This order underscores President Trump’s commitment to showcasing national pride, hospitality, and economic opportunity through sports tourism,” the White House said in a press release.

Trump was asked by reporters about hosting the World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico with whom they are locked in a trade war, and the president’s response was certainly an interesting one.

“I think it’s going to make it more exciting,” he said. “Tension’s a good thing.”

Eleven cities in the US will host games for the tournament. They are: Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Also on Friday, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that Canada has been ‘ripping us off for years’ and is now considering hitting back with a tariff 10 times harsher than the 25 percent already placed on Canadian products.

It came just a day after offering a one-month reprieve on the initial tax of imported goods.

Speaking of the changes that have been made to the markets after signing off the orders, Trump said: “I’m not even looking at the market.

“A lot of them are globalist … companies that won’t be doing as well because we’re taking back things that have been taken from us years ago. We’ve been treated very unfairly.”

Donald Trump loves a game of golf

Donald Trump’s penchant for golf is racking up a pricey bill for taxpayers, according to reports – and it turns out there’s an explanation behind the eye-watering sum.

President Trump has been in office for nearly 50 days, and to say it’s been eventful is an understatement.

The Republican president accused President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy of ‘gambling with World War 3’ in an explosive meeting, while his tenure has been dominated by executive order after executive order.

Away from the pressures of the job, the 47th POTUS is known for having a round or two of golf.

Trump is believed to have played golf on 13 of the 48 days his been back in the Oval Office.

And according to an Independent report, this pastime is costing taxpayers an eye-watering sum of money.

According to HuffPost, the US leader has played ten rounds at the private Trump International West Palm Beach and three times at Trump Doral since returning to Washington DC.

Trump Doral is an 800-acre resort east of Miami International Airport, and as for Trump International West Palm Beach, that features a 27-hole golf course just five minutes from the Atlantic Ocean.

The president is a golf lover, there’s no doubt about that – but that is coming at a cost to the taxpayer.

The Washington Post reported in 2019 that his travel to the Sunshine State to play the sport would cost taxpayers $64 million.

Come October 2020, Robert Reich, author and former Labor secretary, calculated that Trump had actually cost taxpayers an eye-watering $141 million.

HuffPost has looked at figures from a Government Accountability Office report published in 2019 to allege the president’s golf trips have probably cost American taxpayers more than $18 million this year.

The reason why Trump’s rounds of golf cost the taxpayer so much is because he is understood to fly to the golf courses in Florida using Air Force One.

And on top of that, you’ve got additional costs incurred by patrolling law enforcement and explosive-sniffing dogs.

Before Trump took office for the first time in January 2017, he pointed out how often Barack Obama would take to the golf course during the Democrat’s time as president.

“We pay for Obama’s travel so he can fundraise millions so Democrats can run on lies. Then we pay for his golf,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump, who has previously described golf as a ‘passion’ rather than a game, owns 12 Trump Golf properties in the United States, two in Scotland, and one in Ireland and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Man who won the lottery 14 times reveals basic maths he used to beat the system

Stefan Mandel said the method could be understood by anyone

Ah, the dreams of what you’d do if you won the lottery. It’s enough to help get you through a shift at work, bickering with your colleagues over the desk over the best things to do with the winnings.

Maybe you’re the kind of person who’d donate most of the money to charity or perhaps you’d be straight on a plane and out of the UK to head to Australia.

But whatever it is you dream of, you probably only ever imagine winning the lottery once.

Whereas this bloke managed to win it a whopping 14 times. Now imagine what you could do if you won the jackpot over and over.

It almost seems impossible, especially with it being so hard for you to win it just once.

However, Stefan Mandel used some basic maths to ‘beat the system’ rather than us lot relying on luck and our mum’s birthday.

The Romanian mathematician came up with a genius method, leading to him and many others bagging a fortune.

Teaming up with a group of investors to form a syndicate called the International Lotto Fund, Mandel targeted a series of lotteries globally.

In an old interview on YouTube, the economist explained his theory, which he called ‘combinatorial condensation’.

“Theoretically, anybody can buy all the possible combinations,” he said. “Any high school boy or girl can calculate those combinations.

“Nobody has ever developed a logistical system to lodge such a large amount of play slips. We were the only winners and that was it.”

He figured it all out. (Getty Stock)

So, take the lottery in Virginia, US, for example. Mandel calculated that with players picking six numbers from one to 44, there were 7,059,052 combinations to choose from.

And to make matters even more favourable with this particular game, players were allowed to print their play slips/coupons at home, meaning Mandel and his group could do so without alerting suspicion – even though what they were doing was totally legal.

In February 1992, on top of the $27 million jackpot, they took home $900,000 in additional prizes for the tickets placing second, third, fourth and so on.

This plan alerted the suspicions of the authorities, with an investigator in Australia contacting the Virginia Lottery to tell them not to pay out.

They claimed Mandel and his syndicate were involved in money laundering. However, they found that the team had done nothing wrong.

Mandel is now said to live in Vanuatu, having ‘retired from the lottery’. Speaking to Romanian newspaper Bursa back in 2012, he said: “I’m a man who takes risks, but in a calculated way.

“Trimming my beard is a lottery: There is always the possibility that I’ll cut myself, get an infection in my blood and die — but I do it anyway. The chances are in my favour.”

Family left horrified after spotting scary detail in background of beach photo

If there’s one thing you definitely don’t want to spot when going for a dip, it’s this…

A family got one hell of a shock after taking a photograph on the beach only to realize there was an alarming sight in the background sparking an appeal for information.

If there’s one thing you don’t ever want to see while on the beach – or even more so, in the sea – well, there’s a few things I can think of.

However, one family’s photograph from their day out on a beach between Bonbeach and Chelsea in Melbourne, Australia, reveals one of the number one sights which would likely send you running for your towel, fleeing and never visiting the beach again.

SES Chelsea Unit took to Facebook to share the images last year. The images show one photograph, with the second more zoomed in, revealing what appears to be a dad and child playing on the beach, another parent and their child behind, alongside a dog and two men standing further into the water.

Oh and if you hadn’t already spotted, it’s made sure to circle what appears to be a fin lying not far from all the people pictured too.

The caption to the images reads: “As many of you would be aware, yesterday, we posted about a shark sighting, just off the beach, between Bonbeach and Chelsea.

“Well later, we received a message from a family, who follow our page, who were at Carrum Beach, earlier in the morning. It was their little ones first visit to the beach, and the gentleman’s partner grabbed a couple of snaps to record the day.

“Later, when they got home, and looked at the pictures, they noticed something in the shallow water, just behind them, was this our shark?”

Does that look like a shark to you? (Facebook/ SES Chelsea Unit)

Does that look like a shark to you? (Facebook/ SES Chelsea Unit)

SES Chelsea Unit explains that when they saw the pictures, they weren’t ‘sure’ what the sighting was so contacted several places for their opinions.

“They all agree that although they can’t confirm it’s a shark, they can’t say that it’s not,” the post continues. “So, what do you think. The family are very genuine, and in fairness, they’re the first to admit that they’re not sure what they snapped, but they certainly would like to know. So if anyone has any genuine ideas of what it might be, please let us know.”

And it didn’t take long for people to weigh in with suggestions.

One Facebook user said: “Possibly the banjo shark around Stefan’s ankles that same day?”

“Let’s say it’s a 20cm dorsal fin, for size percent based on bronze whaler that’s only a 1.5 – 1.8m shark. If it’s a 30cm dorsal that’s a 2.3 – 2.6m shark which on one that big would be a belly to bottom of dorsal height of about 45cm swimming in 60cm of water. So a 1.8m shark of that species with a fairly slender belly could easily go unnoticed and would have been far too small to take a German Shepard let alone a person,” another added.

Yeah, no thanks (Getty Stock Images)

However, a third commented: “A dog… it’s a dog.. Ps banjo sharks are not actual sharks, they are a Ray.”

A fourth said: “I mean this is not a small shark, but a baby whale. Shark is not that dark. Something is.”

“It’s the back of someone’s head who is laying down in the shallows,” a fifth theorized.

And a final simply resolved: “Better to be safe than sorry.”

Amanda Seyfried admits her ‘boobs fell out’ in front of A-list celebrity during award show in new interview

Seyfried ended up having to improvise when she went up on stage

Let’s be honest, it simply isn’t a Hollywood awards show without some kind of viral moment, comical mishap or awkward exchange.

From hosts like Nikki Glaser making iconic jokes about the stars to Adrien Brody throwing chewing gum at the Oscars, this year’s season has provided plenty of things to chat about and memeify online.

But Amanda Seyfried has just given us a blast from the past as she admitted her ‘boobs fell out’ at an awards show two years ago while she was with a fellow A-List celebrity.

The star recalled the moment during her recent press for the upcoming TV series Long Bright River where she plays a Philly police officer.

“My boobs fell out of my dress at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards,” she told PEOPLE. “I was wearing this amazing vintage dress. I made my stylist dress up in it before I went just for fun.”

At the awards that year, she picked up Best Actress in a Movie/Miniseries for The Dropout and was embodying golden girl in a Dior Haute Couture gown.

“It was kind of sewn together and it started truly falling apart, literally falling off of me on the red carpet, and I think there were even interviews where I’m saying it’s breaking off,” Seyfried recalled.

She’d said to one reporter on the red carpet that it ‘keeps ripping’ and ‘keeps breaking’ as she promised she wasn’t ‘kidding’. Seyfried even joked she was going to take it off but it was so ‘beautiful’.

And it seems she certainly wasn’t kidding about the state of it as things ended up taking a turn while she was chatting to Glen Powell in a corner near her table.

“We were joking around about something and I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart,” the Mean Girls star explained.

But thankfully, Powell of course acted like a top bloke and handled the situation pretty well while they ‘both screamed’.

“And like the gentleman he is, he covered me. He didn’t look… I think. None of us were expecting that, but that dress had truly just given up,” Seyfried said.

But while Powell helped her out in that moment, she had to get up on stage to accept an award so ‘ended up wearing someone else’s jacket’ to cover up.

“Because, well, it would’ve just been my boobs,” the star added.

Saturn’s rings will disappear this month as scientists reveal reason why

Fear not though, Saturn’s rings will come back into view

Saturn’s rings will disappear later this month, and there’s a very bizarre reason why, which has been explained by scientists.

Taking you way back to science classes at school now, but you may have learnt that Saturn is made up of chunks of ice, as well as rock and dust.

It was astronomer Galileo Galilei who discovered the gigantic rings way back in 1610 and they have been observed and looked at ever since.

At one point, scientists believed that it would take approximately 300 million years for them to disappear completely.

In fact, data collected by NASA’s Cassini spacecraft back in 2017 revealed it’s expected to actually take 100 million years for the rings to disappear permanently.

Saturn’s rings will melt away thanks to the Sun’s UV radiation and other meteoroids colliding with the rings and causing the ice particles to vaporise.

Of course, scientists are predicting that to be far in the future, but from later this month, Saturn’s iconic rings will no longer be visible from Earth.

This is set to happen in two weeks on March 23, but what is the actual science behind it?

Saturn’s rings can normally be seen with a small telescope, but the planet will soon tilt in a way that means the rings will be out of view.

IFL Science reports the ‘angle of tilt’ will ‘drop to zero when it gets to 23 March, 2025’, but fear not, the rings will later return to our view.

Such phenomenon takes place every 29.5 years, which is the time in takes for Saturn to orbit the Sun.

On top of this, scientists remain perplexed by large smudges – dubbed ‘spokes’ by NASA – appearing on Saturn’s rings every 15 years or so.

Experts and scientists are now working hard to garner a deeper understanding of exactly what is going on.

NASA planetary scientist Amy Simon said: “Thanks to Hubble’s OPAL program, which is building an archive of data on the outer solar system planets, we will have longer dedicated time to study Saturn’s spokes this season than ever before.”

As for seeing Saturn’s rings again, scientists say the rings will be at its brightest and best to see from Earth on 21 September, but be warned that they will disappear once more in November.

Sub on ocean floor comes into contact with deep-sea monster that predates dinosaurs in chilling footage

It was the first time the OceanX submersible had tagged a sea animal

The ocean is a mysterious place, and if you have a fear of the deep waters, this video will probably make it worse.

Footage of a submersible capturing some intriguing footage of a pre-historic sea animal has resurfaced, as it was making its way across the ocean floor.

The OceanX sub captured something so shocking that scientists that were working on it were left speechless – and it even made history.

If you’re made to feel uncomfortable by some GoPro footage that’s posted online of what may lay in the distance underwater, then this viral video will leave you shell-shocked.

It’s also a lot weirder, as we get to be up close and personal with the animal in question.

Originally posted on the OceanX YouTube channel in 2020, the short video captures the moment that explorers made the ground-breaking discovery.

In the description of the video, the company states that it partnered with the Cape Eleuthera Institute to become the first ever submersible to tag an animal.

“Our objective was the deep-sea shark, the bluntnose sixgill,” it explained.

“This ancient species predates most dinosaurs, and is a dominant predator of the deep sea ecosystem.”

FSU Marine Lab’s Dr. Dean Grubbs was the lead scientist on the mission, and succeeded in achieving the goal.

Grubbs let the team to become the first ever to put a satellite tag on the elusive species of sharks on the sea floor, with scientists in the past only able to do so by bringing them up to the surface.

The team did this on the sea floor, and the footage also shows how shocked the men were in the sub.

Spotting the shark swimming around it, one of them said: “Oh, wow!”

“Look at the width of that thing!”

Attempting to get her in the prime position to tag, they were hesitant to tag her when she was belly-side, waiting for her to get closer.

Which she did, pushing her nose up against the side of the submarine, glancing up at the intrigued scientists, even seeming to roll her eyes as she swam away.

The scientists couldn’t believe just how big the female shark was, pointing out that she was larger than average.

Her species usually grow up to 20-feet in length, but rarely anyone has been so up close and personal with one before.

The species predates most dinosaurs, meaning they have roamed the seas for tens of millions of years.

People were just as in awe in the comments section.

One user said: “If not the size, this shark’s eye alone would have given me a straight heart attack.”

Another commented: “That eye close-up was wicked.”

A third put: “Scientists, ‘Whoa.’ That’s when you know it’s serious.”

Friends actor Matt LeBlanc admitted that he could be a ‘professional nothing’

Actor Matt LeBlanc is best known for playing Joey Tribbiani on NBC hit sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004, but what about his career afterwards?

After Friends wrapped its 10th and final season, LeBlanc was the only star of the ensemble that agreed to a spin-off, titled Joey.

It saw the lovable character move to Los Angeles from New York, after all of his friends began their new lives, pursuing his acting career.

The sitcom ran for two seasons before being cancelled, and many don’t know what LeBlanc did after this.

While many may know him for his time in sitcom Episodes or as host of Top Gear in the 2010s, there’s a sizeable gap from his time as Joey to his resurgence over the last 10 to 15 years.

In a TikTok that has gone viral recently, his hiatus was finally explained, through clips of LeBlanc on talk shows revealing what his thinking was.

The 57-year-old actor was first clipped on Scandinavian TV show Skavlan, explaining: “My plan was, it was 10 years of Friends, and then I did two years of Joey, and then I said, ‘Right, I’m gonna take a year off, I wanna take a year off and just relax.’

“I had such a good time, I said, ‘I’m gonna take another one,’ right? And then that one was even better. So I said, ‘Maybe one more!’ And then it turned into five or six years,” he admitted while giggling to himself.

The American actor then revealed that his ‘favourite thing in the world to do’ is simply ‘nothing’.

I’m sure many of us can relate.

It’s easier said than done for the star though, who is estimated to still earn £16 million per year from Friends.

He went on: “It’s so easy.

“There’s no rules! ‘What are you gonna do today?’ I’ll tell you — nothing. Pretty simple.”

Another clip was part of the TikTok, this time with LeBlanc appearing on Conan, telling the SNL alumni host: “I should be a professional nothing. Because I think I would like to do not a f***ing thing. That’s what I would like to do. Just nothing. Nothing. Zero.”

Conan said he had to get something done, though the actor disagreed, clarifying that while he may wake up early some days, ‘it’s just not having to go somewhere or someone else telling you what you have to do’.

Users on social media loved LeBlanc’s care-free attitude too, as one wrote: “I can relate. Matt Leblanc is my spirit animal.”

Another added: “If I had his money, I would do exactly the same,” while a third joked: “He is Joey Tribbiani in real life, but with money.”

A different user pointed out: “So refreshing seeing someone really not caring about chasing more and more fame. Just chilling with his Friends cheques rolling in.”

Eerie final moments of man ‘who never left bar on CCTV’ but is still missing today

Nobody knows where he went

Almost 20 years ago, a man disappeared and has never been seen again, even though CCTV footage from the last place he was seen appears to show that he never left.

During the early hours of 1 April, 2006, Brian Shaffer was seen walking into the Ugly Tuna Saloon in Columbus’ University District in Ohio, US.

He’d been out on the town with fellow student William ‘Clint’ Florence to celebrate them completing their exams, and had already been to the Ugly Tuna as they’d been bar-hopping throughout the night and come across a friend of Clint’s who drove them back there.

CCTV showed Brian Shaffer going up an escalator to return to the bar at around 1:15am.

Earlier into the night, at 10.00pm, Shaffer rang his girlfriend, Alexis Waggoner, to confirm their upcoming trip to Miami.

He told her he loved her as she was going away to visit her parents before coming back to meet with him on the following Monday.

Both Waggoner and his parents believed he was going to propose to her on their trip, but it never happened.

At 2.00am, the med student was seen for the last time as he was spotted in footage chatting with two women outside. It seems to show that he walked back in but no one could find him.

Call attempts from both Florence and Reed proved unsuccessful, and they went home once the bar shut, assuming he must have left himself.

Shaffer’s dad also tried to call him over the weekend, but every attempt went unanswered and he ended up missing his flight on the Monday morning.

In the first days of his disappearance, up to 50 police officers were searching for him at any one time, with his friends and family all being questioned, while everyone that undertook a lie detector test passed – except his roommate, who reportedly refused to part take in one.

He disappeared at around 2am and nobody knows where he went (Facebook)

He disappeared at around 2am and nobody knows where he went (Facebook)

And the two women Shaffer was spotted on CCTV with claimed they were not asked to take tests.

Waggoner said she tried to call him everyday, but it went straight to voicemail. Although, on one night in September, it apparently seemed to ring three times, but his service provider said it may have been a glitch with the system.

With his phone not being GPS enabled, authorities also couldn’t find its location.

While the final CCTV of Shaffer appears to show him walking offscreen and towards the bar entrance, the camera could have missed him, and the exit leads straight to a construction site.

Theories suggest he may have disappeared on purpose, perhaps changed his clothes or left to the construction site.

His family, however, insist that he had no motive to do so.

Several years ago, a man pictured in Tijuana, Mexico appeared to share a resemblance to Shaffer but the FBI concluded it wasn’t him.

The images caught attention from thousands of Reddit users after being shared on the platform

North Korea is a country famously shrouded in mystery, especially since it sealed itself off at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, but one social media user claimed to get a unique insight into the nation with the help of a drone.

About a year before North Korea welcomed – and then promptly restricted – Western tourists from visiting for the first time in five years, one drone owner took to Reddit to claim they’d managed to fly their device over the border from China into North Korea.

They shared the images they’d caught online, alongside the caption: “Drone pics of North Korea, I was in China, my drone flew across the border.”

(Reddit/u/XiaoHao2)

(Reddit/u/XiaoHao2)

The images are indeed taken from the high perspective of a drone flying over a metropolitan area, and they quickly caught the attention of intrigued users hoping to get an insight into the notoriously secretive region.

The post has received more than 145,000 upvotes, and features images of a large building which is decorated with pictures of Kim Il-sung, the founder of North Korea, as well as Kim Jong-il.

Users have noticed that the streets in the images appear to be eerily empty, especially for what looks to be a large city. It’s unclear what time the images were captured, but it’s clearly light outside.

In some of the images, people can even be seen on the ground looking up and pointing at the drone as it flies over.

Reddit/u/XiaoHao2

Sharing their thoughts, one person wrote: “Am I tripping or is there no street drainage at all? Definitely no traffic lights. Looks like a concrete model of a city.”

A second said: “It’s interesting how the uncanny valley exists for inanimate things as well. This is close enough to being an actual city that it’s disturbing.”

Above all though, one of the most common responses to the images wasn’t about their content at all, but about the person who captured them.

Reddit users pointed out the person controlling the drone could likely have got in serious trouble for infiltrating the border, with one writing: “That seems like a dangerous game.”

Other users questioned exactly how the user had apparently managed to cross the border so easily, writing: “Guy singlehandedly invaded N. Korea.”

Another joked: “If this random dude with a drone from a store can this easily spy on North Korea, imagine the intel the US has. US intelligence are probably like ‘wait s***, we spent hundreds of millions on spy satellites and could have just used a f****** $500 drone?'”
