And it is all to do with pyramids. Right now, more than 110 of the four sided structures from Ancient Egypt have been discovered by scientists studying the period of time that spans roughly 3,000 years.

Now, a long time historic assumption relating to Ancient Egypt’s pyramids has been debunked by archaeologists after a discovery in the Tombos area of modern day Sudan, then known as Nubia.

South of modern day Egypt, the region of Africa was conquered by Pharaoh Thutmose I around 1,500 BC, with Ancient Egypt ruling the region for the next four centuries.

What have archaeologists discovered in Tombos pyramids?

Investigating a burial site at the ancient village of Tombos, archaeologists have re-written their own rule book when it comes to pyramids.

It has long been thought that pyramids were for those of the highest status in society, and for those with a lot of money to fund such a burial.

But Tombos has now suggested that lower class workers were also granted a spot in the tombs of pyramids in Ancient Egypt.

Sarah Schrader at Leiden University in the Netherlands, has been working hard at the site for the last 10 years.

Through her work, Schrader has discovered what people in the Tombos pyramids got up to in real life.

And from analysing their remains, there was a real mix of the type of people in there.

What the pyramid remains tell us

The skeletons in the pyramids were a mix of people who hadn’t done much labour-intensive work in their lives. But at the same time, some remains showed signs of really busy work lives.

“Our findings suggest that pyramid tombs, once thought to be the final resting place of the most elite, may have also included low-status high-labor staff,” the study on the find says, published in the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology.

Schrader said that ‘at first we didn’t quite understand what the data meant’, adding: “I think we have assumed for far too long that pyramids were just for the rich.”

Some have suggested that the high-activity remains belonged to nobles who kept in good shape, but Schrader isn’t convinced by this theory, saying archaeological evidence from across Ancient Egypt hints that those of elite status had quite strictly different activity patterns from non-elites.

By the time that Tombos went under the control of Ancient Egypt, it was at the height of the civilisation.

But during this height, royalty had moved away from being buried in pyramids as their favoured location once dead.

Instead, it was a shift to rock-cut tombs like what you can find if you visit the Valley of the Kings.

London-born Carlo Acutis, who had always showed a strong devotion to God, died at the age of 15 from leukaemia in 2006.

Acutis will be honoured into sainthood by the Catholic Pope in upcoming months. He earned the nickname ‘God’s influencer’ for his tech-savviness, sometimes also being referred to as the ‘patron saint of the internet’.

During his life, the young man set up a website named ‘The Eucharistic Miracles of the World’, in which he would catalogue ‘Christian-related miracles’ from around the world.

A six-year-old boy also inexplicably recovered from a rare pancreatic condition after touching a relic of Acutis, which was recognised by the Vatican in 2020.

Carlo’s spirit was also attributed as having performed a second miracle for saving the life of a woman in 2022. Valeria Valverde suffered severe head trauma from falling from her bicycle, and needed intense surgery for her injuries.

However, after her mother made a pilgrimage to the teen’s resting place, Valverde reportedly quickly recovered, and CAT scans showed that her her haemorrhage had disappeared. She also inexplicably regained speech and mobility despite the seriousness of her injuries.

This was once again acknowledged by the Vatican in 2024, and Pope Francis approved his ‘canonisation’, set for 27 April, 2025. This is the official admission of a dead person into sainthood, according to the Roman Catholic Church, and he will be the first ‘millennial saint’.

Before he died, his final wish was to be laid to rest at the Sanctuary of the Spoliation in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore.

As reported by Aleteia, the web designer’s body has been encased in a wax layer moulded to look like Carlo before he died.

Supporters visited the church in Assisi earlier this week, which also included a gift shop with souvenirs and mementos of ‘God’s influencer’.

His mother Antonia, 57, said that ‘having a child like Carlo was special for me’.

She told The Times that her son started to read the Bible and ask ‘very profound questions’ following the death of her father.

“Carlo told me he saw my father who asked him for prayers, and he started to pray a lot for dead people. He was only five,” Antonia admitted.

“We lived in the centre of Milan, a town full of beggars, and he would stop and say, ‘I have everything, a bed and meals, and these people are suffering with nothing’.”

Aged nine, he said, ‘Mama, can I buy some sleeping bags for them, some blankets?’

“He made us save money. If I bought him a pair of shoes, when he already had a pair, he would say, ‘I don’t need new shoes, there are people who are starving, why don’t we save it to give to the poor people?’” she explained.

“He was older than his age, not a child of nine years old when he was nine, he was very mature.”

At school, Carlo’s mum said he was ‘very bright and nice’, would often ‘defend bullied people’ and protect ‘classmates that were shy or reserved and had problems getting on with others’.

Carlo passed away from leukaemia at just 15 years old, saying in the hospital that he was ‘happy to die’, as he had ‘lived my life without wasting a minute on those things which do not please God’, as per the Catholic Herald.

“During the funeral, the church was so full that a lot of people had to remain outside,” Antonia added.

“Many of these people were the migrants and they were all friends of Carlo.”

The four-part series premiered on Netflix last week (13 March) and has since shot to number one on the streaming platform’s viewing charts, as well as highlighting the dangers which extremist content can have on young people’s minds.

Starring This Is England’s Stephen Graham, the series follows a devastated father who learns that his 13-year-old son Jamie (Owen Cooper) has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his female classmate.

Top Boy’s Ashley Walters features as a detective, while A Thousand Blows’ Erin Doherty plays the child psychologist who interviews Jamie.

Adolescence has since been widely praised by both viewers and critics for its raw depiction of incel culture, the online ‘manosphere’ and how teenagers are utilising slang terms and emojis to discuss potentially violent ideas.

The series has also dominated conversations over the past week, with one observant viewer pointing out how the series cleverly foreshadows Jamie’s guilt from the first episode.

Sharing the observation on TikTok, user @kashi_ibbotson shared a clip which depicted the moment the startled teenager is arrested on suspicion of murdering his classmate.

In the shot we see Jamie place his hands outwards as he’s being apprehended by armed police, with one hand hovering above a tear in the wallpaper which resembles the blade of a knife.

For the first time viewer, the moment wouldn’t stick out too much, as we’re not aware if Jamie is actually responsible for killing his classmate.

However, anyone aware of the series’ conclusion may notice how a small detail on the teenager’s bedroom wall foreshadows his guilt.

“This cannot have been an accident. The level of detail in this show made it a masterpiece,” she added in the caption.

Ibbotson wasn’t the only person to notice the detail either, with one person writing: “Every detail is immaculate in this programme,” while a second commented: “I kept looking at the tear on the wall. It bothered me, but I didn’t put that together! Brilliant!!!”

Meanwhile a third user pointed out how the tear in the wallpaper would later crop up in the final episode when the boy’s father Eddie (Graham) breaks down in tears while sat in his son’s bedroom.

“And the very last scene when the dad is on his bed is like the knife in his back,” the viewer pointed out.

It is a matter of fact that you need a valid passport to leave the United Kingdom through airports or international ferry terminals (that includes on cruise ships).

Verifying your identity and nationality, they allow you to travel in to another country that you are not a citizen of whether that be for tourism, studying abroad, going on a religious pilgrimage, or a business trip.

With processing times for a passport taking around three weeks when not in peak periods, it is something you don’t want to leave to the last minute due to the how much more it costs you.

And now, the costs of getting said passport in those scenarios is set to go up.

In what would be the third cost increase in two years, plans have been lodged with the UK Parliament about the cost of getting your hands on a valid passport.

If approved by politicians, the money you’ll have to part with to get a passport is set to increase by roughly seven percent.

How much will a passport cost?

As it stands, the fee for a standard passport application in the UK is £88.50 for adults and £57.50 for children.

But under the new plans, these costs will increase to £94.50 and £61.50, respectively.

Postal applications are going up from £100 to £107 for adults and £69 to £74 for children.

Those wanting the one day premium service are looking at paying £222 up from £207.50 for adults. For children, that’ll be £189 up from £176.50.

The fee for a standard online application when applying from overseas for a UK passport will rise from £101 to £108 for adults and £65.50 to £70 for children. And overseas standard paper applications will increase from £112.50 to £120.50 for adults and £77 to £82.50 for children.

What will the passport costs pay for?

According to the HM Passport Office, the new fees ‘will help the Home Office to continue to move towards a system that meets its costs through those who use it, reducing reliance on funding from general taxation’.

“The government does not make any profit from the cost of passport applications,” it says.

“The fees contribute to the cost of processing passport applications, consular support overseas, including for lost or stolen passports, and the cost of processing British citizens at UK borders.”

When will the new passport prices come in?

According to national reports the prices have already been given the nod of approval by Ministers in Westminster.

They’re not expected to come in to law from 10 April, meaning Brits only have a few weeks left to get their passport applications in before the new costs are implemented.

The Sun reports that the move will ‘likely spark a surge in applications of passengers whose passport is nearing expiry and want to beat the increase’. So if you need to renew, make it quick.

The movie features Lawrence’s first ever fully nude scene in her career, a decision she says led to ‘everyone in her life’ questioning if she was sure.

Despite this, the Hunger Games star went through with it and the movie was incredibly well received.

The film in question focuses on Lawrence playing a 32-year-old who is tasked by a 19-year-old’s parents with dating their son and taking his virginity before he goes to college.

Called No Hard Feelings, the R-rated romantic comedy features Lawrence alongside Andrew Barth Feldman, Matthew Broderick, Natalie Morales, and even a pre-The Bear and Fantastic Four– fame Ebon Moss Bachrach.

Releasing in 2023, the movie got 70 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and an average rating of 86 per cent from audiences – not bad.

The movie marked the first nude scene of the star’s career, saying in an interview with Variety: “Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?

“I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.”

The scene in question wasn’t a sex scene or even something particularly racy for the most part but was a nude fight scene.

No Hard Feelings marked the first time Lawrence was fully nude on screen, but she went 90 per cent of the way there in the 2018 film Red Sparrow.

The movie, in which the X-Men First Class star played a seductive Black Widow-esque spy, features scenes in which she is for the most part nude, but with camera trickery, a few choice parts are hidden.

This was the first time the actor stripped off for a scene, which came after a horrific incident for her.

Photos of Lawrence were involved in the horrific 2014 celebrity phone hacking scandal that led to nude photographs of various celebs being leaked.

Speaking about the decision to disrobe for Red Sparrow in 2018, Lawrence said to 60 Minutes: “I realise that there’s a difference between consent and not.

“I showed up for the first day, and I did it, and I felt empowered. I feel like something that was taken from me, I got back, and I’m using it in my art.”

She went on to continue this in No Hard Feelings, which releases on Netflix tomorrow in the UK and Ireland.

Devan Coggan said in their review of the film for Entertainment Weekly: “No Hard Feelings is a welcome addition to a dwindling genre — and a reminder that Lawrence is one of Hollywood’s best (and funniest) leads.”

People can’t stop talking about the hard-hitting series which made it’s debut on Netflix last week, hence why it’s shot to the number one spot in the UK’s top ten.

While it tackles serious issues such as incels, the online ‘manosphere’ and toxic masculinity head on, there are also some subtler moments in Adolescence to analyse too.

And we’re not just talking about how production managed to ‘get a camera through’ a pane of glass or the hidden meanings behind emojis which protagonist Jamie (Owen Cooper) uses.

Although some viewers might have not clocked onto the significance of this moment, a host of people have been pointing out that the 13-year-old is offered only half a sandwich in episode three.

The murder suspect, whose parents are played by acting legends Stephen Graham and Christine Tremarco, is sitting down with psychologist Briony (Erin Doherty) when she presents 50 percent of a butty.

To make matters even worse, it’s filling is cheese and pickle, which Jamie isn’t a fan of.

The pair have a chat while the teen is being held at the young offenders facility and Briony decides to offer him the snack, as well as a hot chocolate with marshmallows.

This selection of refreshments might seem like a minor detail to some, but it turns out it’s a lot more significant than you might think.

Don’t worry if you didn’t cotton onto it though, as a host of Brits took to social media to complain that they didn’t have a clue about what was going on either.

Taking to Reddit, one person said: “Why did the psychologist on Adolescence make that disgusting cheese and pickle sandwich?”

Another added: “I’m so stuck on the pickle sandwich! I know he was obviously losing his composure. But at the beginning he said he hated pickles. And then he loses his fake composure has a couple tantrums.

“Tries to intimidate and then just sits down and eats the pickle sandwich!”

So, was Briony simply a few sandwiches short of a picnic, or did she purposely only offer half of one with an unfavourable filling to Jamie?

According to psychologist Dannielle Haig, the move was an attempt to gain an understanding of Jamie’s thought process and responses.

“The half-sandwich, particularly the fact that it contains something Jamie dislikes, could be a way of testing his response,” the expert told Tyla.

“Does he push it away? Does he eat it to be polite? Does he comment on it? These reactions provide insight into his personality,” Haig said.

“If he simply tolerates it without complaint, it may suggest a history of feeling powerless and being accustomed to having things done to him rather than for him.”

Haig explained that if he had outright refused the sandwich, it could have ‘indicated defiance’ or perhaps a ‘need to exert control in a situation where he has very little power’.

“It’s a clever way of gauging how Jamie sees himself in relation to authority figures and whether he feels able to assert his own needs,” Haig added.

So, why did Briony go the whole hog with the hot chocolate and add some marshmallows on it for Jamie then?

“Everything in a psychological assessment is deliberate; small actions can tell you a great deal about a person’s mindset, and this is no exception,” Haig continued.

“The hot chocolate is a comforting, almost maternal offering. It’s something associated with warmth, safety, and childhood, a stark contrast to the harsh reality of Jamie’s situation.

“By giving it to him, the psychologist may be trying to create a sense of familiarity and ease, making it more likely that he will open up.”

Jeniffer Castro was a bank employee hailing from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, but gained notoriety on social media after she was filmed deciding to stand her ground onboard a GOL Airlines domestic flight in December 2024 when asked to change seats.

In the video, she can be seen refusing to move as other passengers asked her to move from the window seat where she’d been assigned.

A crying toddler can also be heard in the back as they wanted to sit there, however, the 29-year-old didn’t budge.

The clip sparked several debates online, with some citing plane etiquette while others believed she was within her rights to stay put.

Following the viral incident, she has sued the airline and revealed on the Cola Mais podcast that ‘measures are being taken’.

As well as all the attention, Castro also claimed she was forced to quit her career in the aftermath, alleging that she had become the target of several ‘attacks’, and in the months following the video, the former banker has shared her side of things.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Castro admitted that she ‘could never have imagined’ what was to come after the video, which she said was not filmed by the child’s mother but rather another passenger, did the rounds online.

She claimed: “What should have been just an ordinary flight turned into an extremely embarrassing situation, exposing me unfairly and causing consequences that affected both my personal and professional life.

“I was the target of judgments, attacks and speculation from people who don’t even know the full story.”

She said that the child cried a lot throughout the short-haul flight, which she said was ‘understandable when travelling’, even if it was ‘uncomfortable’.

“What surprised me was the fact that a person who had nothing to do with the situation started filming me without permission, insulting me and trying to publicly embarrass me simply because I didn’t want to change seats,” she continued.

Admitting that she was in ‘complete shock’, Castro had no idea that a seemingly ‘simple’ event could have such a big effect, adding: “Professionally, my life has changed a lot, so much so that today I am no longer in the field I worked in before.

“I was a banker. In my personal life, at the height of the repercussions, I practically didn’t leave the house.”

She has luckily landed on her feet though, as the Brazilian has over two million Instagram followers and has secured some brand deals through her newfound fame.

Despite this, she’s pressing on with plans to sue GOL airlines for distress and damages, even though flight attendants didn’t get involved onboard, as well as the passenger who’d filmed her.

Castro sited the ‘huge embarrassment’ as a reason for her suing the airline, highlighting that it ‘should never have reached this point’.

“This lawsuit is not just about reparations, but also about setting a limit on this type of behaviour,” she explained, clarifying that no action would be taken against the child’s mother, only those that ‘violated’ her privacy.

“We gathered all the necessary evidence and took the appropriate measures against whoever filmed me. We all have rights, and they must be respected, regardless of other people’s opinions.” she added.

Castro didn’t reveal how much she was suing for due to ‘judicial secrecy’, however, and said that she hopes that this lawsuit will set a new precedent when it comes to public shaming and exposing people against their will.
