Thomas Turgoose previously said that ‘everyone involved in This is England is family to me’

The British actor may go down as one of the most talented in history, but he’s also known for his caring nature and support for others in the industry.

The 51-year-old is known to have supported actress Jodie Comer, also from Liverpool, early in her career, to the point where she thanked him in her BAFTA speech in 2019.

Graham, who is the star of new Netflix hit series Adolescence, had to wait for his career breakthrough, finding it in 2006 with his role as Combo in This Is England.

Following his role in the drama, he would go on to star in huge films such as The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and The Irishman, among other notable titles.

But apart from starring in hit films and TV series, the actor is also known for developing strong relationships with cast members on his projects.

One of these actors was Thomas Turgoose, who played Shaun Fields in This Is England.

Aged just 13 at the time, he played a young boy that became involved in a gang of skinheads, of which Combo (Graham) was part of.

While he starts out by idolising the gang member, his violent and racist nature is eventually realised by the teenager.

Away from the screen though, Turgoose was undergoing a troubled time at home, as his mother Sharon passed away due to lung cancer.

As a result, the film was dedicated to her, as he recalled on a 2021 episode of the Private Parts podcast, adding: “Stephen Graham promised my mum he’d look out for me.

“Everyone involved in This is England are family to me.”

Following the tragic loss, he was set to move in with his estranged father, before Graham and Meadows offered to give him a home.

“When my mum died I moved in with my dad and I didn’t know him, so Shane Meadows and Stephen Graham were going to adopt me if things didn’t work out with my dad,” Turgoose explained.

Despite the rocky period, Turgoose went on to star in further instalments of the film series; This Is England ’86 in 2010, This Is England ’88 the year after, and This Is England ’90 in 2015.

But his life could have very nearly gone another way entirely.

Turgoose claimed that he was destined for prison before landing the role as Shaun, revealing: “I was destined for prison. Shoplifting things I didn’t need.

“There was a hardware store in Grimsby that I used to steal spray paint from for no reason.”

The actor eventually married his long-term partner Charlotte Revell in 2018, and invited several This Is England co-stars, including Graham.

In a post on Instagram, the 33-year-old shared a photo of himself and his bride with his co-stars, simply captioning it: “Family.”

What Sean 'Diddy' Combs said to Kanye West in phone call 'he didn't know was being recorded'

The two rappers enjoyed a conversation while Diddy awaits his criminal trial from behind bars.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Kanye West have been shooting the s**t over the phone as the former awaits his sex trafficking and racketeering trial from prison.

It comes as the College Dropout rapper and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian continue their feud over a new track (titled ‘Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine’) featuring Combs and their 11-year-old daughter North West.

West, who sparked outrage with some Ku Klux Klan-style clothing earlier this month, is reportedly restricted from releasing the song as Kardashian has trademarked the child’s name.

In their conversation, which was recorded at an unknown date and allegedly without Combs’ knowledge, according to The New York Post, the 55-year-old had some strong opinions for West to digest.

A video obtained by The Shade Room sees Combs telling the 47-year-old: “When I get out there, man, I want to see you f*****g tear down the stadiums. I need to see you back on that stage, f*****g actually rapping and f*****g performing and everything. I be dreaming of that s**t.”

Combs was reportedly dialling in from the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York, where he is currently being detained.

The music mogul, 55, has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, and is currently scheduled to face trial in May 2025. He’s denied all of the charges brought against him and pleaded not guilty to the three felony charges.

“Tell you real from the frontline. This s**t is wicked, wicked, wicked, so you be careful. You can’t do nothing for just… I need you out there, you hear me?” Combs added in the call.

“I hear you, yes, sir,” replied West, as the disgraced music mogul reiterated: “And have some f*****g fun. Get behind the mic, have some fun. Chop up them samples, get back on your hit man vibe. Have some fun, get back to smiling!

“F**k these other motherf*****s. They are wasting your time. Wasting your motherf*****g time. So, put that love in your heart, man, and enjoy yourself.”

Inspired by this passionate call to arms, West noted it was ‘time for me just to grab the mic again and get back on’.

“I love music again,” he revealed.

“Jump into your bag. We gonna have years and decades to fight these motherf*****s. Right now, enjoy your life,” Combs encouraged him. “This is coming from me, from God to you. Enjoy your life. Fall back in love like when you was making the beats. Have a good time and say, ‘F**k the world and all the bulls**t’ man.”

Referring to his multiple criminal charges that could result in more than 15 years behind bars, Combs later moaned: “This s**t is f*****g sad. I’m Puff Daddy in jail. When I get out and I get that f*****g freedom, woo. I am not caring about nothing but motherf*****g being happy. And I want you to feel that.”

He then thanked West for taking care of his children in the aftermath of his arrest last September.

The most shocking revelation from declassified JFK files as Trump releases 'truth'

There were some explosive finds in the declassified JFK files

Declassified files in relation to the assassination of former president John F Kennedy have been released following an order from Donald Trump.

Kennedy was shot by a sniper while riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza on 22 November, 1963, in Dallas, Texas.

He was famously in a convertible limousine with his wife Jacqueline, Texas Governor John Connally, and Connally’s wife Nellie.

Shots were fired from the Texas School Book Depository building and Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested and taken into custody.

Two days before his trial, he was killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby.

While some people reckon Trump’s batch of JFK files were a bit of a letdown, here’s what we do know from the archived material.

Amid the countless conspiracy theories surrounding Kennedy’s death, Trump has made good on his promise after releasing 1,100 files of 31,000 pages on the US National Archives and Records Administration’s website.

Although the vast majority of the National Archives’ collection has previously been released.

There may have been a second shooter

The most shocking find is the evidence which supports the long-standing theory of there being a second shooter involved.

It’s thought that Oswald fired three shots in 8.6 seconds, however, ballistic reports and testimonies in the files claim that a shot may have come from an elevated area ahead of the president’s motorcade.

House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) said in 1979 that there was a ‘high probability’ of a second shooter based on acoustic evidence.

Theories have argued that the second shooter was located on the ‘grassy knoll’, which is the small, sloping hill in Dealey Plaza where Kennedy was assassinated.

CIA involvement

A memo from November 1963 which has now been declassified has revealed how a CIA officer expressed alarm over Oswald’s activities.

Oswald married a Russian lady in the Soviet Union, in 1961, and had also visited Soviet and Cuban embassies in Mexico City weeks before the assassination.

The gunman also happened to be a former Marine who defected to the Soviet Union before returning home to Texas.

According to the files, it has been suggested that higher-ups dismissed the concerns.

Mafia involvement

Wiretaps transcripts show the mob discussing the need to ‘take care of Kennedy’.

This comes after Michael Franzese, a former mafia captain, has long suggested their involvement.

“If I had to take a lie detector and swear to it – what I heard my entire life from people in the know – there was definitely mob involvement,” he said on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

He claimed that Oswald’s killer Jack Ruby ‘was totally mobbed up’ and that he had ‘cops on his payroll’.

Trump’s promise to release other files

“I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest and the release of these records is long overdue,” he said.

“And although no Act of Congress directs the release of information pertaining to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I have determined that the release of all records in the Federal Government’s possession pertaining to each of those assassinations is also in the public interest.”

Jessie Hoffman Jr died by nitrogen infusion on Tuesday (18 March).

Trigger warning: this article contains mentions of an execution and rape, which may distress some readers.

A murderer named Jessie Hoffman Jr met his maker in a controversial fashion this week after spending 27 years on Louisiana’s Death Row.

Convicted in 1998 for raping and killing Mary ‘Molly’ Elliott in the first-degree, he was finally put to death on Tuesday (18 March) via nitrogen hypoxia, a banned method for euthanising cats and dogs, as it’s said to cause severe distress.

The crime took place in New Orleans, with Hoffman Jr initially abducting his victim from a parking lot before assaulting and shooting her.

This was the first execution of its kind in the US state, although the criminal’s legal team had hoped to prevent it at the eleventh hour with the help of a court ruling. This claimed that nitrogen ‘substantially burdens’ a demonstration of Hoffman Jr’s Buddhist faith by denying him the chance to meditatively breathe as his last seconds of life ticked by.

Hoffman Jr’s case gets even more significant though, because his final words marked a rare moment in death row history.

The 46-year-old death row inmate is apparently a Buddhist now, and death by gas would interfere with his beliefs (Jessie Hoffman Legal Team)

Despite an almost three-decade incarceration, in which the inmate will have no doubt contemplated a life wasted, this resulted in precisely no final statement or food.

Commenting on her client’s unconventional punishment, attorney Cecelia Kappel noted: “Jessie no longer bore any resemblance to the 18-year-old who killed Molly Elliott. The State was able to execute him by pushing out a new protocol and setting execution dates to prevent careful judicial review and shrouding the process in secrecy.”

Meanwhile, his victim’s husband Andy Elliott shared: “There is relief that this long nightmare is finally over but also renewed grief for Molly and sadness for Mr. Hoffman’s family, whose nightmare began when mine did and who’ve also had to go through nearly 30 years of this gut-wrenching process through no fault of their own.”

According to eye-witnesses of the execution, Hoffman Jr began to experience ‘convulsive activity’ upon its commencement, yet they each concurred that nothing seemed out of the ordinary when scrutinised against the protocols.

Chief of Operations at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Seth Smith, was present at the scene and went on to confirm Hoffman Jr’s spasms.

He perceived these convulsions to be an “involuntary response to dying”, with Hoffman Jr apparently unconscious at the time.

Hoffman Jr was pronounced dead at 6.50pm local time, with the gas flow taking 19 minutes to end his life.

J.K. Rowling appears to take huge swipe at Harry Potter stars in ongoing feud

The British author doesn’t seem to be a fan of the child stars’ later work

It appears that J.K. Rowling still holds a grudge against the stars of the Harry Potter franchise, if her latest tweet is anything to go by.

The author, 59, seemed to take a huge swipe at Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in a savage post shared to X last night (18 March).

It’s no secret that Rowling no longer sees eye to eye with the trio who brought her Wizarding World to life in the eight Harry Potter films.

She told the child stars they ‘can save their apologies’ in April last year – suggesting there is no hope of them ever burying the hatchet – after they criticised her controversial views.

It all started back in June 2020 when Rowling shared several social media posts which a lot of people deemed as transphobic – including a host of Harry Potter actors.

In response, Radcliffe apologised for the ‘pain’ caused by the rhetoric and said he hoped it wouldn’t ‘taint’ the films for fans in an open letter for LGBTQ+ organisation, The Trevor Project.

“It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgender and non-binary people, not invalidate their identities,” the 35-year-old said, while adding that the fallout with Rowling was ‘really sad’.

However, Radcliffe said he didn’t ‘owe’ the author anything simply because she penned the books which inspired the Harry Potter films, explaining that he hadn’t spoke to her in several years.

Watson took to X to share her support for the trans community, telling her followers: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.

“I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”

Grint also said in a statement at the time: “I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men.”

In an interview with the Times two years later, he added: “I liken JK Rowling to an auntie. I don’t necessarily agree with everything my auntie says, but she’s still my auntie. It’s a tricky one.”

Well, it turns out that aunt has still got a few more things to say, Grint.

Rowling appeared to reignite her feud with the Harry Potter actors yesterday with her response to a tweet which asked: “What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?”

Quoting the original post, the author added: “Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible,” alongside three laughing emojis.

Obviously it doesn’t take a genius to work out which threesome she was referring to, but social media users still filled in the blanks for anyone struggling.

A few even replied to the post with pictures of Radcliffe, Watson and Grint in their Hogwarts get-ups.

One person commented: “A cute girl, a boy with glasses, and a boy with red hair come to mind. Their names escape me, since I haven’t seen them in anything for quite some time.”

Another wrote: “Savage.”

A third added: “JK I had to read this four times to understand the shade.”

The President promised the latest batch of JFK files would be a real page-turner

A host of people who were looking forward to pouring over the latest declassified documents discussing JFK’s assassination have been left a bit disappointed.

President Donald Trump announced another 80,000 pages of material would be made public on Monday (17 March), but according to readers, it’s been a bit of an anticlimax.

The 78-year-old leader promised that the information would be ‘very interesting’, while claiming that no details in the docs would be redacted.

During his appearance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Trump said: “We have a tremendous amount of paper. You got a lot of reading. I don’t believe we’re going to redact anything.

“They’ve been waiting for that for decades. And I said during the campaign I’d release them, and I’m a man of my word…so tomorrow you have the JFK files.”

Tomorrow has been and gone, and true to his word, the declassified documents were published by the National Archives last night (18 March).

Trump vowed to make information pertaining to three of the most high-profile assassinations on US soil – President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King – public back in January.

People hoped the documents would reveal some new information about JFK's murder (Bettmann/Getty Images)

He said it was an important step towards ‘restoring transparency and accountability to government’, telling Americans that ‘everything will be revealed’.

The murder of JFK has long been the subject of conspiracy theories, as not everyone is completely convinced by the official version of events.

The 35th President of the US was shot in the head by Lee Harvey Oswald on 22 November, 1963, as he drove through Dallas, Texas, in an open-topped car.

Oswald was then shot dead two days later by nightclub owner Jack Ruby – and people were hoping to find out some new information from the docs about the historic event.

But those who have had a flick through the 80,000 pages in the latest batch of JFK files reckon they were a bit of a letdown, difficult to read, and faded.

Despite Trump pretty much guaranteeing that the archives would be a real page-turner, people have all been sharing the same complaint online.

Taking to social media, one person said: “I’m quickly going through the JFK files to see if we would get everything unredacted like promised. We have not.”

Another added: “Most of these documents were marked ‘safe’ for declassification YEARS ago. There is nothing here. Where are the ‘exempt’ and ‘excluded’ JFK files?”

Despite Trump's big promises, readers have been left disappointed (Win McNamee/Getty Images)

A third wrote: “Today, the final 80,000 JFK assassination documents were supposed to be declassified. Instead, we got a pathetic trickle – just over 1,000 files, most of them already known, heavily redacted, or long marked for release.

“A smokescreen of transparency, carefully curated to reveal nothing of substance.”

While a fourth commented: “I was told repeatedly these were going to be unredacted…”

Others were a bit more complimentary, including the likes of Republican congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who led the task force to declassify the JFK files.

She shared a post on X explaining she was excited to read a ‘CIA IG report from whistleblowers alleging that the CIA hid information from Congress’ about the assassination.

Luna claimed that the information was concealed because ‘it implicated them’, adding: “We were given this as a tip and there is actually a document we are currently tracking down.”

Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, also praised the President for declassifying the files in a social media post.

She wrote: “President Trump is ushering in a new era of maximum transparency. Today, per his direction, previously redacted JFK Assassination Files are being released to the public with no redactions.

“Promises made, promises kept.”

People were quick to flood her replies with examples of the multiple redactions which are in the JFK files.

The documents include hand-written notes, typewritten reports, and photocopies – but historians don’t expect a host of new revelations to emerge.

But 80,000 pages is a lot to comb through, so the jury is still out on whether the document dump was worth it at the moment.

Mum of four Ashleigh Ellerton received the heartbreaking prognosis after developing a rare complication

A mother of four has revealed that she has just three months left to live after previously being told she was ‘too young’ to have breast cancer.

In March 2020, 29-year-old Ashleigh Ellerton was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a small lump in her right breast. Initially dismissed by her GP, Ashleigh persisted and was eventually sent for further testing at a breast clinic.

She was then diagnosed with the disease, which impacts one in seven women during their lifetime, and underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a mastectomy.

29-year-old Ashleigh Ellerton received the heartbreaking prognosis after being diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease (SWNS)

Recalling the moment she was diagnosed with cancer, Ashleigh said: “The words came out of his mouth, but it was sort of like they didn’t. The only thing I could think of was that we had just booked a family holiday.

“It was almost like it wasn’t happening to me. It was happening to someone else and I was just watching it.”

Ashleigh would receive an all-clear in December 2020 and married Simon a year later.

Despite the initial positive results, Ashleigh remained convinced that her cancer would return and in 2022, doctors discovered it had spread to her liver.

“I was convinced that the cancer was not finished with me,” she said.

“I told my nurses who had come to my wedding that my cancer was going to come back in my liver.”

In September 2024 Ashleigh would receive another round of devastating news after she began to suffer with bad headaches and mood swings, which led to her being diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease.

According to Cancer Research UK, leptomeningeal disease is when cancer cells spread to thin layers of tissue which cover the brain and spinal cord. Prognosis differs from patient to patient and is dependent on factors such as how quickly the cancer is growing, as well as how it responds to treatment.

For Ashleigh, this meant that she was out of treatment options and now had just months left to live.

She is now focused on making memories with her four children (SWNS)

Now focused on making lasting memories with her children – who are aged 11, 10, nine and five – the former carer said: “They are the reason I fought so hard and for so long, there is nothing in the world I do that isn’t for them. I do believe they are the reason I am still here.

“I am making memory boxes, writing cards so they have birthday cards with my writing.

“It is about making sure I have prepared the kids for life without me.”

Her mother has also set up a GoFundMe for the family, with the goal raising funds for the children to make lasting memories with their mother. The family have since received over £11,700 from kind strangers, which has allowed Ashleigh and her children to visit places such as Harry Potter World, Disneyland, London and on the Polar Express, places she’d planned on taking them when they were a little older.

“I didn’t have the privilege of waiting until then to enjoy it with them,” she added.

Driver left stunned by unexpected note they received after finding huge dent on their car bonnet

There was a tragic ending to the story

We’ve all had to deal with dodgy drivers at some points in our lives – and if you haven’t, then you’re probably the dodgy driver in question.

Unfortunately, for those people that worship their cars, an accident is always potentially around the corner, as one Manchester lad found out when his beloved BMW was written off after a crash, despite him being in another country at the time.

No matter how safely you drive, there’s always a risk of damage, particularly if you have one of these three colours of car – as that also seemingly increases the chances of an accident, according to the RAC.

But one lad on Reddit was shocked to discover that his parked car had suffered a particularly large dent, and the reasoning behind it was one of the strangest you will ever see.

Posting on the social network, one user caught the attention of thousands on the site after sharing a picture of his car, but it was the note that he was left which prompted the discussion.

It read: “I am very sorry about your hood. My cat fell off my 14th floor balcony and landed on your hood.

“Please call at [blurred contact information]. Again, I am so sorry.”

It restores your faith in humanity slightly when someone takes the time to write a note after something so devastating, and fortunately the two were able to sort things out, which isn’t often the case when car owners are left with damage this substantial.

The note (Reddit)

The note (Reddit)

Naturally, when the user confirmed that he had spoken with the cat’s owner, there was more concern for the feline than the four-wheeler, but he later shared a tragic update in the replies.

He said: “No it did not [survive]. I was on my way to work when I saw the note and hood.

“I called the owners who were understandably going through it. The cat smashed the hood, bounced and landed about 15 or so feet from the truck.

“Apparently the cat had been given medication that could cause dizziness. The owners didn’t think about how every night the cat would walk the ledge of the balcony.

“It lost balance and that was that.”

Sadly, the cat didn’t land on its feet on this occasion. Given the sadness surrounding the situation, the car owner was very sympathetic. He suggested that the pet owner had suffered the ‘real loss’ and confirmed that his insurance would cover the car’s damages.

Urologist reveals one scientifically proven way to instantly enhance your sex life in the bedroom

Dr Rena Malik has explained how to increase satisfaction in the bedroom with a simple method

A urologist has revealed a scientifically proven way to enhance your sex life, and it’s pretty simple.

Dr Rena Malik is a urologist and pelvic surgeon who regularly shares educational videos about urologic and sexual health.

Over on her YouTube channel, Dr Malik shared a video about how to use yours and your partner’s erogenous zones to increase satisfaction in the bedroom – and it’s proven to work.

Citing the research, Dr Malik explained that in a study from 2018, a number of couples were asked to practice touching one another at different speeds and in different areas of the body.

While one was asked to be the ‘giver’, the other was assigned the role of ‘receiver’.

“They recruited 19 romantic couples and one partner was assigned to be the giver and the other was the receiver,” Dr Malik explained.

“Givers were instructed to give two types of touch, either slow stroking at around 3cm per second or fast stroking at around 18cm per second to the neck which is considered an erogenous zone and the forehead which is a non-erogenous zone.”

Dr Malik explained that the study’s results were pretty clear – stroking on the erogenous zone and at a specific speed led to greater pleasure in the bedroom.

“They found that slow stroking touch on the erogenous was significantly more pleasurable than the faster touch or touching the non-erogenous zone,” she explained.

Explaining why the findings were so important in terms of sexual pleasure, Dr Malik added: “The human body has specialised nerve fibres they are called C-tactile afferents and they help the brain differentiate a more gentle dynamic touch and they respond best to a gentle stroking touch applied at a specific velocity of 1-10cm per second.

“This is like the typical speed people use when they’re caressing or stroking a person that they want to be intimate with.

“And in particular this CT optimal touch activates the brain regions that are involved in processing emotions and feelings.

“So you’re creating this neural pathway that perceives certain types of touch as pleasant and even erotic, and this might be an important mechanism by which humans can differentiate between emotional and erotic touch.”

Dr Malik explained that taking the time to explore your own and your partner’s erogenous zones could lead to a better sex life.

“Take time to find out your and your partner’s erogenous zones and use them to enhance sex,” she added.

Cosmonaut who spent 437 days in space had particular reason for refusing to be carried out of landing capsule

Russian cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov walked from his space capsule as unaided as he could for one very particular reason

A Russian cosmonaut who holds the world record for the longest time spent in space for one trip revealed why he refused help to walk when he landed back on Earth more than 14 months after lift off.

With stranded NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams currently on their way back to Earth, one Russian cosmonaut spent significantly longer in space and managed to leave his landing capsule without assistance.

Valeri Polyakov is one of the biggest names to ever be a part of the Soviet space program and its successor, the Russian Federal Space Agency.

A cosmonaut for the Russians from the early 1970s until the mid 1990s, he made history after journeying to the Mir space station in 1994 where he spent 437 consecutive days floating around the planet.

It’s a world record to this day, with Polyakov circling the planet more than 7,000 times during this experiment that began in January 1994 and ended in March 1995.

Heading to the Mir space station on board the Soyuz TM-18, the entire purpose of Polyakov’s journey in to the cosmos was all to do with health and future experiments off planet that could be on the horizon for space agencies around the world.

While up there, Polyakov exercised for two hours a day to compensate for there being zero gravity and therefore, zero pressure on his muscular and skeletal systems to maintain their integrity and density.

He would then do more than two dozen experiments on his own body, looking at his diet in space; how his blood and nervous system reacted to zero gravity; and how his immune system held up.

Bizarrely, Polyakov also grew 2.5 inches while in space after his spine straightened out without gravitational force on the skeletal system.

But when journeying back to Earth, he had a rather uncomfortable trip given that his chair and re-entry gear had been a bespoke fit for him when he was 6ft 2.5in and not the 6ft 5in he was upon return.

After landing in the steppe of modern day Kazakhstan, Polyakov was tracked and located by Russian space officials.

With the door to his landing capsule opened, he made the decision to walk out of the spacecraft on his own accord despite being offered help as he got used to the force of gravity on his body once again.

He walked out and sat himself down at a nearby chair in which he lit a cigarette and enjoyed an alcoholic beverage. A glass of brandy, to be precise.

The reason for this? To show he was physically fine after such a long period in space – providing hope for future long trips in to space, such as an eventual journey to Mars if Elon Musk and SpaceX get their way.

Polyakov said: “That was pretty much the goal of the flight. I had to show that it is possible to preserve your ability to function after being in space for such a long time.”

Polyakov retired as a cosmonaut three months after landing on Earth, calling it a day in June 1995.

In total, he spent 678 days in space on his two trips off of the planet, spending his later years working as the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Public Health in Moscow.

In this role, he was in charge of the medical aspects of long-duration space missions; something he was well experienced in.

Polyakov died at the age of 80 in September 2022, with Russian space agency Roscosmos announcing his passing on its website.
