Supermarket chain Aldi have commented on the odd sightings of M&S’ Colin the Caterpillar in their shops

Confusion has swept across the British public as a number of Colin the Caterpillars, a Marks and Spencer staple, have started appearing in Aldi supermarkets.

I know what you’re thinking – this is absolutely blasphemous, Aldi is Cuthbert’s turf, and these Colins are overstepping their territory. Or maybe it’s just a good laugh.

But photos have gone viral on social media, and it’s not just the friendly-faced cakes taking the attention – there’s an extra accessory.

Colin's got a cloak (X)

Colin’s got a cloak (X)

That’s right, the dessert boxes are sporting some ominous cloaks. But they’re not any old cloaks, as X account Super TV shared the photos, suggesting that they represent something.

They wrote: “Colin the Caterpillar from M&S has started appearing in a Traitors cloak hiding amongst Cuthbert’s in Aldi’s around the country???”

Apparently, they are sort of ‘Traitors’ in their own way, in an ode to the popular BBC TV series with their unique green cloaks, rather than the traditional black.

Brits seemed tickled by the cameos, with one commenting: “Sometimes I love this country and things like this are why,” with another adding: “This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week,” with a laughing emoji.

The appearances of Colins up and down the UK has made headlines, but Aldi have now released a statement in response to the like-for-like sweet treats popping up.

An Aldi spokesperson said to LADbible: “We’re aware of the appearance of Colin cakes in various Aldi stores across the country and have seen a series of social media posts.”

Here's another imposter. Can you spot the traitor? (X)

Here’s another imposter. Can you spot the traitor? (X)

They concluded: “As big fans of The Traitors, we did recognise the cloaks, but cannot comment on whether we think this to be suitable attire for a caterpillar of his nature. But if the cloak fits…”

I guess we’ll never know how they got in there. How did they get past security?

The questions rage on.

The poor Cuthberts, someone should help them find out who the traitor is among the group.

Whether you prefer Cuthberts, Colins, Slinky, or even Wiggles, the differences between the animal-themed cakes start to stand out when you see them side by side.

With other members of the public calling the photos ‘brilliant’ and ‘clever’, it isn’t clear if it is a PR stunt or not, but it is a good laugh to see the long-lost cousins reunited – even if they aren’t aware that one of them does not belong.

All texts allegedly sent between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively that have been revealed across both lawsuits

The It Ends With Us co-stars have submitted a series of text messages to support their legal claims

Both Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively have been relying on alleged text messages to support their respective legal claims against one another.

The It Ends With Us co-stars have been locked in a bitter back and forth since late December, when the first of many lawsuits was filed.

Lively first sued the 40-year-old, who directed the film at the heart of the dispute for sexual harassment and alleging that he had attempted to orchestrate a ‘social manipulation’ campaign against her.

On New Year’s Eve, Lively then filed another lawsuit against Baldoni, this time at a federal court in New York.

As well as branding the claims ‘categorically false’ and filing a $250 million suit against The New York Times due to an article about the allegations, Baldoni fired back at the Gossip Girl alum with a lawsuit of his own.

In the 179-page document, the actor – as well as his production company Wayfarer Studios and others – laid out his complaint against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and others for damages equating to $400 million.

He accused them of civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, among other damning claims.

Deadpool & Wolverine has even been dragged into the fallout between the It Ends With Us leads, as Baldoni alleged that he was mocked with the ‘Nicepool’ character.

Lively’s lawyers have since dubbed the lawsuit ‘another chapter in the abuser playbook’ and an ‘attempt to turn the tables on the victim’, although Baldoni’s legal team maintain it is ‘based on an overwhelming amount of untampered evidence’.

To support their claims in court, both stars have included a series of alleged text messages in their lawsuits.

Here’s all the communications which have been shared as part of the suits which have stunned Hollywood.

Blake Lively’s lawsuit

In Lively’s lawsuit, which was filed months after rumours of a rift between her and Baldoni first began, she claimed that her co-star’s behaviour caused her and her family ‘severe emotional distress’.

Text messages between Baldoni, crisis publicist Melissa Nathan and publicist Jennifer Abel were obtained by a subpoena.

As shown by The New York Times, Abel sent a text in which she stated that Baldoni ‘wants to feel like she can be buried’ in alleged reference to Lively.

Nathan allegedly responded: “Of course – but you know when we send over documents we can’t send over the work we will or could do because that could get us in a lot of trouble,” adding: “We can’t write we will destroy her.”

She then sent another, which continued: “Imagine if a document saying all the things that he wants ends up in the wrong hands. You know we can bury anyone but I can’t write that to him. I will be very tough.”

On 2 August, 2024, the complaint claims that Abel sent a text saying she was having ‘reckless thoughts of wanting to plant pieces this week about how horrible Blake is to work with’.

“Just to get ahead of it,” the message added. “She’s putting us through hell.”

Three days later, Baldoni allegedly sent the publicist a screenshot of a Twitter thread accusing another female celebrity of bullying women, writing: “This is what we would need.”

Abel is said to have then told him that she had ‘spoken to Melissa [Nathan] about this’ and suggested they should ‘focus on reddit, TikTok, IG’.

Another message then allegedly showed Baldoni asking: “What is the TikTok strategy? I’d like you guys to start posting me ONLY talking about domestic violence and clips and why this movie is so important.”

From there, Nathan’s team reported that they were ‘starting to see a shift on social’ in a message sent on 10 August, according to the Daily Mail.

The PR manager herself then went on to claim that the ‘majority of the socials are so pro Justin and I don’t even agree with half of them’.

The legal complaint lodged by Lively also claims that a meeting was held during production to address her grievances and demands for working on It Ends With Us, with her husband Ryan Reynolds, reportedly in attendance.

Some of these alleged demands included: “No more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni’s alleged previous ‘pornography addiction,’ no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew’s genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake’s weight, and no further mention of Blake’s dead father.”

Lively also allegedly demanded for Baldoni to not add ‘sex scenes, oral sex or on camera climaxing’ outside of what she had agreed to prior to filming.

Another message from Baldoni reportedly saw him discuss ‘using [the couple’s] own words against them’, as he wrote: “My partner asked about flipping the narrative from this leak this AM about Ryan saying script was a disaster and he saved the movie.”

Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit

Baldoni has hit back with a lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, their publicist, Leslie Sloane and her PR firm ,Vision PR, which was filed on Thursday (16 January).

In the lawsuit – which was seen by LADbible – nine text messages were included, as which the Jane the Virgin actor alleges are proof that he has been defamed by his co-star.

When stories began to surface regarding claims that Baldoni’s camp were intentionally trying to tear The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants star down, he got in contact with his team.

Baldoni allegedly wrote: “How can we say somehow that we are not doing any of this – it looks like we are trying to take her down.”

He then later followed this up by saying: “Ok please monitor. Thing I’m more worried about is that we are planting these stories which is not true obviously.”

In another text exchange, Baldoni and his publicist were discussing a news article which speculated on the future of Lively’s career, after describing a Q&A she did for the film as ‘tone-deaf’.

The New York Times claimed in their public release of Lively’s lawsuit that Baldoni’s team was ‘revelling’ in damaging her image, while including a text exchange between his publicist and crisis publicist.

Abel was said to have wrote: “Wow, you really outdid yourself with this piece,” before Nathan responded: “That’s why you hired me right? I’m the best.”

But in Baldoni’s lawsuit, it was highlighted that prior to this, Nathan forwarded a message from a reporter telling her about The Daily Mail article before adding: “Damn. This is not fair because it’s not me, everything now looks like it’s me.”

It was also explained that after Abel said that Nathan ‘outdid’ herself, she added an upside smiley face emoji, to symbolise sarcasm or that she was joking.

An unspecified member of Baldoni’s team at The Agency Group then allegedly sent a text in response to social media backlash against Lively’s comments about ‘grabbing your friends and your florals’ on the It Ends With Us press tour which read: “Like come on. We had NOTHING to do with that.”

In another text message thread, Nathan sent a link to an article that revealed an ‘unearthed’ interview from Lively, which the media outlet said had portrayed her in an unflattering light.

Baldoni’s claim states that she wrote: “This just ran – obviously none of us knew about this either. But once media goes in, they go in. And the best thing we can do right now is be quiet.

“Let’s get through this week together. Then just move on and back to regular planning with Instagram posts and thoughtful ideas and messages. The content creators are on fire, and Justin, she handed it to them all on a plate.”

Other texts from 2 June, 2023, submitted as part of the lawsuit see Lively tell Baldoni that she is ‘just pumping in my trailer if you wanna work out our lines’, to which he responded: “Copy, eating with crew and will head that way.”

The messages were included in Baldoni’s lawsuit to counter the sexual harassment claims, as she willingly asked him to come into her personal space, at least once, after claiming invasions of privacy.

He also responded to claims that he showed photos of his wife naked, saying that it was actually a birthing video.

Text messages also allegedly show him telling Lively: “Just hired intimacy coordinator who I LOVE. Will set you up to meet/FT with her next week for intro,” and a thumbs up emoji.

She responded: “I feel good. I can meet her when we start 🙂 thank you though!”

This alleged exchange was included to counter claims from Lively that Baldoni would ‘improvise’ intimacy on set.

As the premiere approached, Baldoni allegedly sent a text in a group chat which read: “Long story but we won’t be in the same room – I was asked to not even come to premier. I can figure it out.”

He claimed that Lively cut her own version of the movie, undermining his influence on the film as director – and addressed his treatment at the premiere in a leaked voice recording.

One of the editors then claimed that they no longer wanted to go to the premiere in a text exchange, before Baldoni confirmed he was now going to attend, but claimed he would be kept away from Lively while there.

Baldoni is alleged to have wrote: “Well, if you decide to change your mind last minute, let me know and let’s figure it out together.

“I’m just gonna be there that’s just different timing and holding areas and theatres and all the things you can imagine. It’s still our film.”

The editor then responded saying: “It would be very hard for me to sit and watch the ‘final’ film for the first time at the premiere. Just cheer for us when our names come up! Sending all love.”

Expert issues urgent warning over carnivore diet after influencer shares the impact it had on her after six years

Carnivore diets are all the rage online – but how safe are they?

A diet which allows you to cut out eating fruit and vegetables in favour of meat and dairy may sound like fiction dreamed up by a stubborn teenager; however, it is in-fact a very real health trend being adopted by a growing number of adults.

But just how safe is the carnivore diet?

One person who’s built a huge following out of only consuming the two food groups is Bella, a former vegan who goes by the username @steakandbuttergal on social media.

In recent videos, Bella has credited her diet for regulating her menstrual cycle and improving her mental health.

“I haven’t eaten a single carb, piece of fruit or vegetable in six years and I’m not dying of low energy, nor have,” she tells her 421,000 Instagram followers in the clip.

Bella isn’t the only person to implement such a drastic diet, with several women interviewed by US magazine Women’s World also claiming to have lost as much as 145 pounds from eating only animal products.

Phrases such as ‘#carnivorediet’ or ‘meatfluencers’ on social media platforms are also filled with people claiming the lifestyle has improved their physical and mental health, with media personalities such as Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and others all championing meat filled plates.

However, it’s important to note there is currently very little clinical evidence – with a survey being conducted via social media on 2029 participants in 2020 – or supporting arguments in favour of a carnivore diet, despite individuals supposedly seeing short term improvements.

And several dieticians and nutritionists have even spoken out against eating such a restrictive diets, citing concerns about vitamin deficiencies and increased cholesterol.

“Instead of completely restricting yourself to a carnivore diet or a vegan diet, I would recommend concentrating on diversity and variety,” Reema Pillai, private nutritionist at Dietitian Fit, told LADbible.

Pillai went on to explain that eating only animal product ‘is not a healthy diet to maintain long term for the general population’ due to the exclusion of key nutrients.

One of these key nutrients is fibre, which Pillai explains can only be found in plant foods.

“There are numerous health benefits linked to the regular consumption of fibre including regular bowel health, reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, improved cardiovascular health and reduced risk of some types of cancers.” she said.

“Therefore, removing fibre from the diet is dangerous and will increase the risk of a multitude of health conditions, including heart and liver disease.”

The nutritionist went on to explain that complications from following restrictive diets may take years to show up, which could explain why promoters of the diet haven’t reported experiencing any adverse health impacts.

“Many of those who follow a carnivore diet are oblivious to health issues for a long time,” she said.

“For someone who is young and maintains a healthy body weight, cholesterol levels may not seem elevated until years into the future, where the extra consumption of saturated and trans fats has lead to a build up of plaque in the arteries, causing severe increases in cholesterol.”

Pillai continued: “Unless you have been advised to follow a certain restrictive diet by a qualified health professional, consider the overall diversity and quality of your diet before deciding to severely restrict food intake.”

Looks like the best – albeit the most boring – piece of diet advice you can do is play it safe and follow the food pyramid blu-tacked to the wall of our school classrooms.

What does the NHS say?

Guidance from the NHS, a healthy and balanced adult diet should consist of at least five portions of fruit and vegetables, high fibre foods such as potatoes, rice or bread, dairy (or dairy alternatives), a source of protein and unsaturated oils.

Consumption of eating red or processed should be limited to 70g of either per day, with Cancer Research UK warning that processed and red meats are carcinogens which have been linked to an increased risk of bowel cancer.

The footballing legend has died aged 84, his family said in a statement

Former Manchester United star Denis Law has passed away at the age of 84, his family has announced in a statement.

The Scottish legend ‘fought a tough battle’ before his death, according to his loved ones who shared the sad news on Friday (17 January) evening.

A statement issued by Law’s relatives read: “It is with a heavy heart that we tell you our father Denis Law has sadly passed away.

“He fought a tough battle but finally he is now at peace. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to his wellbeing and care, past and much more recently.

“We know how much people supported and loved him and that love was always appreciated and made the difference. Thank you.”

Law was the last surviving member of the ‘United Trinity’ – which also included George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton – who helped United become the first ever English club team to win the European Cup in 1968.

The former footie ace – who bagged 237 goals for the club during his 11 year tenure – was known as ‘The King’ by fans thanks to his prowess on the pitch.

His scoring record throughout his 404 appearances puts him third on United’s all-time list, behind only Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Law, from Aberdeen, Scotland, won two league titles with the team and was also a member of the European Cup-winning side under Sir Matt Busby in 1968, when the Red Devils became the first English club to lift the trophy.

In a statement shared regarding his passing, United said: “Everyone at Manchester United is mourning the loss of Denis Law, the King of the Stretford End, who has passed away, aged 84.

“Our deepest condolences go out to Denis’s family and many friends. His memory will live on forever more.”

Two statues dedicated to Law already stand at Old Trafford, one of which is situated on the Stretford End concourse, while the ‘United Trinity’ monument sits outside the stadium.

Despite his small physique, the striker excelled thanks to his electric-pace and fearless attitude throughout his 18-year sporting career – which included spells at Huddersfield, Manchester City and Torino.

Law, who was capped 55 times by Scotland, made his senior debut aged 18 in 1958, before he made his first record-breaking transfer to Man City in 1962.

His move to Italian club Torino in 1961 was also unparalleled at the time.

The forward and keen fisherman, who remains his country’s joint all-time leading scorer with 30 goals alongside Kenny Dalglish, ended his career for good in 1974.

Law is the only Scottish player to have won the Ballon d’Or award, which he was bestowed with in 1964.

Tributes for the footballer have been flooding in from fans on social media.

Former Man U teammate Brian Kidd also shared his condolences, according to FourFourTwo editor Andy Mitten.

Reiterating the former-striker-turned-coach’s tribute, Mitten wrote in post on X: “He was slight, with the heart of a lion. An unbelievable finisher, he scored every type of goal.

“‘He said to me: ‘If you’re ever wide, don’t look up, put the cross in early. If I’m not there it’s my fault’. He was usually there.

“‘Sir Matt loved him. We all did. He was the King of the Stretford End’.”

People 'can't sleep' after seeing Interstellar fan theory that could completely change entire movie

Despite being released in 2014, fans are still arguing over theories to do with Interstellar’s ending

A theory on the emotional ending scene of Interstellar has been doing the rounds online, with fans unable to agree on it.

The 2014 sci-fi epic stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and even a young Timothée Chalamet among others.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the mind-bending flick features some of the most iconic scenes in movie history, with McConaughey in particular putting in one of his most memorable acting performances to date.

But here we are, 11 years on, still arguing about theories to do with its ending. Spoilers ahead, if you hadn’t guessed.

The attention to detail in Interstellar is unmatched, from Nolan growing his own 500-acre corn field for a scene, to the ticks on Miller’s planet equating to a day on Earth, and even ensuring that animations of a black hole were as accurate as possible.

The animation took 100 hours per frame to render, with the help of a seasoned physicist.

But in the final scene, NASA pilot Joseph Cooper (McConaughey) completes his mission to find a new planet for humans to live on after Earth is ruined. He then manages to communicate with his daughter, Murph (Chastain), back on Earth while in ‘the tesseract’, using Morse code on the wristwatch he gave her before leaving for his mission.

She is then able to complete Dr Brand’s (Michael Caine) solution, and when he escapes the tesseract, he wakes up in a station orbiting Saturn and is reunited with Murph who is now on her deathbed.

The ending scene might not be real, apparently (Paramount Pictures)

The ending scene might not be real, apparently (Paramount Pictures)

With the iconic score playing in the background, the old Murph claims that she knew he would return ‘because my dad promised me’, in one of the more emotional scenes in the film.

But according to one YouTube user, the scene never happened as they claimed: “Coop never made it back. Murph never saw her dad again. It’s all there.”

They suggested that it was a figment of Coop’s imagination as he instead dies floating around in space.

The user explained: “What do we hear on the soundtrack as he is left floating in space after the tesseract collapses? The high-pitched beep of a life support machine registering death. (We also hear it when Professor Brand dies.)

“What do we see when Coop wakes up in hospital? That he is in a long tunnel with a light at the end. People who have come back from near-death experiences report seeing a light at the end of a tunnel.”

They also recalled that Dr Mann told Coop that your children is ‘the last thing you see before you die’.

Don’t give up hope yet though, because not everyone is on board with this idea.

Was Coop really imagining all of this? (Paramount Pictures)

In reply, another user wrote: “Did his ghost steal the ship at the end too which he used to travel towards Amelia? The people at the station is people he doesn’t know. Why see them in his ‘tunnel of light and death’?”

They continued: “Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it true. It is CANON that he made it back, and what you said is not, even if it was interesting and compelling, it is not fact.”

This user then said that the suggestion was ‘simplistic and shallow’, as we were showed the real ending.

A third simply responded: “Damn now I can’t sleep in peace.”

I personally believe the ending I was shown and will sleep well tonight.

The Traitors star reveals how he kept fellow contestants identities secret as they attended his real life wedding

The secrecy doesn’t just stay while the cameras are rolling

If there’s one thing you can count on The Traitors for, it’s cover ups and mystique – and that doesn’t end when the cameras stop rolling.

Of course, that’s the name of the game, however, that doesn’t mean fans haven’t tried their hardest.

A number of theories have been thrown about regarding the contestant’s relationships with one another – with some speculating there might be a hidden marriage or sibling relationship amongst this year’s cast, though these have since been shut down.

And it seems that secrecy doesn’t stop there as one of the BBC show’s contestants admitted that he had to come up with backstories when some of his fellow stars came to his real-life wedding.

While on The Traitors: Uncloaked, Alex was asked about having both Lisa and Linda at his nuptials, but given that he’d met them off a game show, he had to think of a way to explain their presence at his big day.

Alex revealed that he came up with backstories for some of his fellow contestants (BBC)

Alex revealed that he came up with backstories for some of his fellow contestants (BBC)

He explained: “We came up with this elaborate backstory about when they were holidaying one time in Scotland and put all this effort.”

Host Ed Gamble said: “Oh, of course, because nobody at the wedding could know who they were!”

Alex said: “Yeah, [the wedding] was in September! I was like ‘Linda, don’t spoil this one! Come on!’

“So we had this whole story and we were feeling really nervous that someone was going to ask, but nobody even asked!”

When a fellow panellist pointed out that Lisa was a vicar and could have been at the wedding in another capacity, Alex was dumbfounded.

“It’s only just occurred to me!” he admitted, to which Ed interjected: “And Linda’s a retired opera singer! She could have done the reception!”

Well, are you really friends if you don’t officiate and sing at your pal’s wedding?

Alex continued: “The best thing is, a couple of months after, me and Linda were in the back of a taxi. And she went ‘You know, it must have been such a good day, your wedding’.

Some have suggested that Alex and Lisa look like they could be related (BBC)

Some have suggested that Alex and Lisa look like they could be related (BBC)

“And I went ‘Linda, you were there’. She was like ‘Oh, yes!’ She’d literally forgotten she was at my wedding!”

I guess ‘a day to remember’ isn’t a universal experience after all.

Alex and Lisa have been tight knit throughout the show, so much so that some have questioned whether they were actually related.

Whilst appearing on The Traitors: Uncloaked, Alex revealed he’d gotten a text from his sister asking: “Why do you look more like the priest on The Traitors than our mum?”

He saw the resemblance: “And it’s so true! I thought ‘There’s been a swap in the hospital’.

“We need a DNA test done now.”

Man records moment he gets stung by 'most venomous creature on Earth' that can 'kill in minutes'

George Kourounis decided to see how well he could cope after being stung with the underwater creature’s venom

Despite what the cartoons you watched as a kid might have led you to believe, it turns out that jellyfish might not be as cute and squishy as they seem.

In fact, a certain faction of these marine animals are actually regarded as one of the most venomous creatures on earth, which can kill within a matter of minutes.

So, you’ll want to avoid these lot at all costs…however there’s just a slight problem when it comes to spotting them – box jellyfish are pretty much invisible.

But keep an eye out all the same, as your survival isn’t guaranteed if you get a sting from one of the cnidarian invertebrates, which get their name from the cube-like shape of their bell.

Although George Kourounis was well aware of all of this, he decided to find out how he’d fare against the venom from an Australian box jellyfish (known as chironex fleckeri), which is considered to be among the most deadly in the world.

The Quebec-born adventurer, 54, has done his fair share of shocking stunts over the years, including going inside of the terrifying Darvaza gas crater, which has been dubbed ‘the door to hell’.

He certainly has some thick skin, having documented natural disasters across the globe and chasing some of the most severe storms the world has ever seen.

But people were still stunned that the Angry Planet presenter was willing to purposely put himself through excruciating pain, risk paralysis and gamble with his life by stinging himself with a box jellyfish.

George Kourounis stung himself with one of the most venomous creatures on earth, the box jellyfish (YouTube/George Kourounis)

In a video originally shared to his YouTube channel in September 2012, Kourounis explained that he was conducting the wacky experiment on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

The former audio engineer was joined by Ben Cropp, who he described as a ‘renowned underwater filmmaker’ who had been ‘researching remedies for the box jellyfish venom’.

According to the TV star, the expert’s method for trying to find a remedy for the toxin involved ‘getting stung stung over and over, on purpose’ – so naturally, Kourounis wanted to try it too.

Discussing the sea creature he was going up against, the daredevil said: “This highly venomous and nearly invisible predator is the scourge of Australian beaches, stinging scores of swimmers over the years.”

According to National Geographic, the box jellyfish evolved to produce its fatal poison so that it could ‘instantly stun or kill prey’ without causing too much damage to its ‘delicate tentacles’.

Up to 15 of these tentacles – which can reach 10ft in length – grow from each corner of their bells and each one of these have around 5,000 stinging cells.

These are brimming with their highly-potent venom which contains toxins that attack humans hearts, nervous system and skin cells – causing many victims to go into shock and die within minutes.

Interestingly, the tentacles – which leave significant scars on those who survive – are not triggered by the box jellyfish’s sense of touch.

Instead, the marine animal can detect the presence of a chemical on the outer layer of its prey, which lets them know a meal is nearby.

Although it might just look like a 'translucent blob of goo', the adventurer found out it was a lot more threatening than it appears (YouTube/George Kourounis)

The underwater beasts are pale blue, making them almost transparent in the ocean, with Cropp explaining that they were ‘very hard to see’ in the shallow water.

“Really, really really hard,” he said. “In fact, [they are] almost invisible over the sand.”

Kourounis then quizzed the expert on whether he believes the jellyfish are ‘the most dangerous creature on the planet’, to which he replied: “Yes. Their venom is more powerful than anything.”

The duo then managed to catch one of the almost undetectable jellyfish in the water, which Cropp noted had ‘lost some of its tentacles’.

However, according to Kourounis, this didn’t do anything to ease the pain which overwhelmed him after he stung himself with it.

“This will ruin your day at the beach,” he told viewers. “It doesn’t look like much – a translucent blob of goo. But it can see, it can sense that you’re there and it has some of the most toxic venom in the world.

The heart-racing footage then showed how Cropp placed the tentacles against the Angry Planet host’s bare arm while explaining: “The poison then travels just under the skin and slowly works its way up to you.

“But the initial pain – people go into shock and sometimes just don’t come out of it.”

Seconds later, Kourounis admitted he could already feel the effects of the venom and began complaining that his arm had started ‘stinging’ violently.

“You can really feel it building up,” the thrill seeker said before dousing the sting in Cropp’s uncertified antidote – which didn’t work very well, prompting the lads to turn to another tried and tested solution.

“We’ll put him out of misery and give him some some vinegar,” Cropp continued. “And you can be liberal with it, real cheap.”

Experts advise those who suffer a box jellyfish sting to immediately exit the water, alert emergency services and to apply vinegar, hot water, or baking soda to the sting if possible.

According to the Emergency Care Institute of New South Wales, the severity of the sting severity depends on ‘the number of stinging cells that fire, which depends on the amount of tentacle contact with skin’ and ‘the potency of the injected venom, which depends on the species’.

It warned: “In an adult, severe envenoming occurs with several metres of tentacle-to-skin contact. In a child, severe envenoming has occurred with just over one metre of tentacle-to-skin contact.

“Severe envenoming results in life-threatening systemic effects, characterised by cardiovascular collapse and death within 20 to 30 minutes.”

Minutes after pouring the vinegar on the sting site, Kourounis then pointed out that the area had ‘started to raise up’ and that some ‘bumps’ had began to appear.

But he appeared to be coping pretty well with the venom apart from that.

Signing off the short video, Kourounis then added: “Box jellyfish, one of the most dangerous creatures on the planet. Hurts like hell. I don’t think I’ll try that again anytime soon.”

‘Once-in-a-century’ discovery made at Pompeii after lying under rock for 2,000 years

A rare discovery has been made in Pompeii, revealing how rich Romans used to live

A ground-breaking discovery has been made in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, almost 2,000 years on from being completely covered in ash.

The wealthy city had 10,000 to 20,000 residents in its hay day, though following the two-day eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, it was preserved under a layer of ash.

Most residents were able to escape during the first phase of pumice rain – which lasted 18 hours – though over 1,100 bodies have been discovered on-site.

Many items from the time were found at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with preserved skeletons, such as coins, jewellery, and silverware.

It may have been discovered in the 16th century, with excavations beginning in the 18th century, but more and more continues to be found out about the ancient area.

Archaeologists have now discovered a private bathhouse, which could be the largest in the city, featuring hot, warm and cold rooms, fancy artwork and even a huge plunge pool.

The Roman-equivalent of a spa, it is located in the middle of a grand residence that has been unearthed following an excavation over the past two years, as reported by the BBC.

Speaking to BBC News, Dr Gabriel Zuchtriegel, director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, explained: “It’s these spaces that really are part of the ‘Pompeii effect’ – it’s almost as if the people had only left a minute ago.”

It is part of an entire block, featuring a laundry, bakery and a large private house, believed to be owned by one wealthy individual, potentially influential politician Aulus Rustius Verus.

“There are just a few houses that have a private bath complex, so it was something really for the wealthiest of the wealthy,” Dr Zuchtriegel highlighted. “And this is so huge – it’s probably the biggest bath complex in a Pompeiian private home.”

The lucky users of the bathhouse would have changed in a vibrantly decorated changing room featuring a mosaic floor, making their way to the hot room, relaxing in the bath and enjoying its sauna-like warmth, before heading to the brightly-painted warm room.

Here, oil was rubbed into the skin before being scraped off – think of it as Roman skincare.

Then, they would enter the cold room, featuring red columns and a plunge pool big enough for 20-30 people to have a dip, as Dr Zuchtriegel said that it was popular to socialise and have some wine here in the summer.

Dr Sophie Hay weighed in on the complex as a ‘once-in-a-century discovery’, while also revealing the darker side of the Roman era.

A furnace would sit under the hot room, while a boiler room would also be located behind the hot room, with conditions being almost unbearable for slaves.

“The difference between the sumptuous life of the bathhouse, compared to the furnace room, where the slaves would be feeding the fire toiling all day,” Dr Hay highlighted. “A wall is all that could divide you between two different worlds.”

As the excavation nears its final weeks, more historical discoveries continue to be made. When it is done, it will be opened to the public to explore.

Two skeletons were also found in the house, with analysis of the pair revealing the shocking events following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, as one of them, a woman, was holding onto jewellery and coins.

Trying to protect themselves in a small room, they were brutally killed as a mix of superheated volcanic gas and ash, also called a pyroclastic flow, made its way through Pompeii.

Despite all the discoveries made, a third of the city still lies underneath the volcanic debris, though this new excavation, the most extensive in years, has provided more information about Roman life.

The archaeologists have been followed by a BBC documentary team for a series called Pompeii: The New Dig, which is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Mac Miller fans left emotional over heartbreaking lyric on new album released six years after his tragic death

Mac Miller fans left emotional over heartbreaking lyric on new album released six years after his tragic death

There isn’t a dry eye in the house when Balloonerism is playing, according to Mac Miller fans

We all knew that Mac Miller had a way with words, but fans weren’t prepared for just how moving the songs on Balloonerism would be.

It’s the second project which the late and great rapper’s estate have released posthumously, following his tragic death in 2018.

The 14-track album was ‘of great importance’ to the music star from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to his family.

It’s been released today (17 January) in tandem with a short film on Prime Video which is ‘based on the lyrics and music’ of Miller, with proceeds from all screenings going to the Mac Miller Fund.

A statement announcing the release of Balloonerism back in November said that Miller – real name Malcolm James McCormick – had been working on the album around the time he dropped his eleventh mixtape, Faces, in 2014.

His estate explained that dropping the album was a priority for the ‘Nikes on My Feet’ hitmaker, as he had already ‘commissioned artwork for it’.

“We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist,” the statement continued. “Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing ‘Balloonerism’ was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present and official version of the project to the world.”

And today, seven years after his untimely passing, listeners have finally been gifted with some new Mac Miller tunes.

It’s been music to the ears of longtime fans, who have applauded the late rapper for being so ‘ahead of the times’ despite recording the tracks over a decade ago.

But that is also the reason why people have been left so emotional after listening to Balloonerism.

Throughout the album, Miller makes many references to both life and death – but it’s the latter which has tugged at the heartstrings of his supporters.

A lot of social media users have been commenting on how his lyrics are quite haunting in hindsight.

On ‘Funny Papers’, Miller says that he ‘didn’t think anybody died on a Friday’ – which is the day that he was found unresponsive at his LA home.

He died on 7 September, 2018, from an accidental drug overdose, with a toxicology report finding a mix of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol in his system

Miller’s track ‘Tomorrow Will Never Know’ is also littered with references to his eventual passing, with lines such as, ‘See living and dying are one and the same’ leaving an impression on fans.

Taking to Reddit to share their thoughts on the song, one person said: “You guys…this album. Absolutely incredible. And so gut wrenching. He talks about death so f**king much…and then the last freaking song gave me goosebumps.”

Another added: “Damn this song hits hard at the end. The silence is almost deafening after the last dial tone,” while a third wrote: “This song has me f**ked up. The phone ringing. It’s so haunting.”

Other poignant lines appear on Balloonerism on songs such as ‘Rick’s Piano’, where Miller asks, ‘Is there a heaven?’ and ‘What does death feel like?’

Other Redditors said they were left in tears after hearing these lines, with one saying they ‘felt like someone punched them in the stomach’ upon their first listen.

“About to cry to it now after the 100th listen,” another commented, while someone else wrote: “Fighting tears on the subway ride to work listening to this.”

Miller also dropped another tear-jerker with his track ‘Do You Have A Destination?’, which saw him rap: “I gave my life to this s**t, already killed myself.”

He then continues: “Am I okay? F**k no. Just so nuts, so, need to let the drugs go. Tryna find heaven, I get high but never come close.”

It’s safe to say that Miller – who first began recording his own music at the age of 15 – has managed to stir up some emotion among his fans with the posthumous project.

As well as hailing the rapper’s ability to perfectly articulate his thoughts and feelings, fans have praised him for being so blunt and raw with his bars.

But whether you’re ‘cheesin’ from cheek to cheek’ or crying while listening to Balloonerism, the album is definitely a reminder of what a huge loss the music world suffered after Miller’s death.

Zooey Deschanel gives a sad answer after being asked whether she ever watches Elf

The actress has been upfront about why the film isn’t on at her house around Christmas time

If there’s one thing that most of us have in common, it’s that we don’t like watching ourselves back.

For most of us, it might be down to finding our own voices irritating or not liking how we look.

But for Zooey Deschanel, popping on the 2003 film Elf is off-putting for a whole other reason.

For millions of people, the Will Ferrell movie is appointment viewing around Christmas time.

But for Deschanel, who co-starred in the holiday classic, it’s not something she’s in a hurry to watch.

The New Girl actress was being interviewed by Us Weekly, when the topic of holiday traditions came up.

When the host asked if she had turned Elf viewings into a yearly occurrence, Deschanel quickly denied this.

She said: “No! I don’t watch myself in anything, I feel like that might be narcissistic of me.”

What Christmas film gets regular circulation in the Deschanel household then?

Meet Me in St Louis is a favourite of mine,” she admitted.

This is in reference to the 1944 film starring Judy Garland.

Referencing her partner, Jonathan Scott, the 45-year-old said: “Jonathan watched Elf each year before we met.

“It’s not that I won’t let him watch it, but if someone has me on a TV, I’m probably running away.”

This raises the question – how many times has she seen the film which has delighted millions around the world?

“I watched it once at the premiere,” she admitted.

“It was really good. I just don’t like…watch myself.”

Deschanel clarified that she did watch each episode of New Girl when they aired, so that she could adjust her performance if she felt it was lacking in one episode.

However, she has a policy of avoiding her own films.

Considering this includes beloved flicks like 50 Days Of Summer, Almost Famous and Bridge To Terabithia, I think she might be missing out.

So what holiday traditions does Deschanel participate in, if not streaming her own work?

Well, this is where her career as a singer in the group She & Him comes in handy.

She said to Us Weekly: “I love singing Christmas carols, I love singing harmony.

“And I have a lot of friends who are really good singers.

“I do really enjoying singing as a group, and my favourite part is being with family and getting to connect.

“I love watching movies on Christmas and getting cosy, and I love that.”

Just don’t pop on any of the Trolls movies, whatever you do.
