Heartbroken mother speaks out after daughter was killed and cut into 200 pieces by husband

Holly Bramley was stabbed by her husband, Nicholas Metson, in 2023

Warning: This article contains discussion of domestic violence and animal abuse which some readers may find distressing.

Holly Bramley’s mother has spoken out about her daughter’s horrific murder in a recent interview.

In March 2023, Holly, 26, was killed by her husband, Nicholas Metson, who dismembered her body into 224 pieces and with the help of his friend, Joshua Hancock, the two disposed of her remains in the River Witman in Lincolnshire, UK, which were later discovered by a passerby.

At Metson’s trial in 2024, Lincoln Crown Court heard the ‘barbaric’ details surrounding Holly’s murder, as the court heard that Metson had stabbed her at least four times in their bedroom before storing her remains in the kitchen larder in their shared flat before calling Hancock to offer him £50 ($61) for help with a ‘job’.

Metson, 28, was arrested and charged after police realised he’d lied to them about his wife’s disappearance. He initially denied the murder, however, at his trial, he plead guilty, leading to a minimum sentence of 19 years and 316 days in prison, the BBC reports, while Hancock was sentenced to three years and three months in prison as well as a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years for an unrelated crime.

Having previously branded Metson an ‘evil monster’, Holly’s mother, Annette Bramley, has now spoken out in an interview, saying that she knew Metson ‘would kill’ her daughter.

“I knew he would kill her.” she told The Daily Mail. “I told police he would murder her; I told anyone who would listen. Her family could all see it, but nobody could stop it.”

According to Annette, Metson, who had been seeing Holly since she was 17, isolated her from her family by making her believe they didn’t love her and moving her 50 miles away from their home without telling them.

“She was young, and I would say quite naïve – vulnerable even. She had a child-like innocence to her that he used to his advantage,” Annette said.

While she kept details of her relationship with Metson mostly to herself, Annette recalled when she ‘turned up at our door devastated’ and told her mum that he had ‘killed their puppy’ by putting the dog ‘in the washing machine’ and turning it on.

“Holly found the dog and managed to break open the washing machine and pull it out, but he took the dog off her and put it in the shower with the water over its face until it drowned.” she said, adding: “I can’t explain how terrified I was for her safety. I begged her to never go back.”

Annette soon learnt of other alleged cases of animal abuse committed by Metson, including drowing three kittens, putting Holly’s hamster in a food processor and murdering a cat before burying it in the front garden.

Scared for her daughter’s safety, she attempted to speak to police numerous times, however, Holly refused to file a complaint against Metson.

“It still plays on my mind why she would have gone back to someone who inflicted acts of such unimaginable cruelty on her animals.” she said, adding that she was ‘thankful’ the pair had never had children.

“To me, the animal abuse is such an obvious precursor to the fact that he would one day act out these barbaric practices on a human – but nobody would listen, least of all Holly.” she continued.

The BBC reports that before her death, Metson had Holly ‘in a headlock’ before she bit his arm ‘in a desperate attempt to escape his grasp’.

He also used her social media accounts after her death to trick her family and friends in to thinking she was still alive.

Judge Simon Hirst told Metson at his sentencing: “The cause of death cannot be established given how you treated Holly’s body after you killed her.”

LeBlanc’s character, Joey, was a struggling actor with a lovable personality, known for his comedic timing, dim-witted yet endearing nature, and his famous catchphrase, “How you doin’?” Joey was the ultimate ladies’ man, combining good looks with an innocent charm that made him a fan favorite from the get-go.

2004 – 2006

After “Friends” ended in 2004, LeBlanc attempted to continue the story of Joey Tribbiani with the spin-off series, “Joey.” While the show aimed to capture the same magic that made “Friends” a hit, it struggled to find its footing.

Running from 2004 to 2006, “Joey” only lasted two seasons before being canceled due to disappointing ratings and a lack of critical acclaim.

During these years, LeBlanc faced personal struggles that made the period even more difficult. He was going through a painful divorce, and the pressure of trying to keep the show afloat amid his personal turmoil added to his stress.

“My marriage was maybe doomed anyway, I don’t know,” the actor shared. Amidst this, his young daughter was diagnosed with a health issue, compounding the emotional burden he carried.

Sadly, the challenges didn’t end there. The actor also had to deal with betrayal from within his inner circle when a nanny sold a story about his daughter’s condition to the media.

LeBlanc described this period as one of the darkest times of his life, feeling torn between his duties as a father and his commitment to making “Joey” a success.

The actor often found himself struggling to be funny on set while his mind was preoccupied with concerns about his daughter’s health and the chaos in his personal life.

Despite these challenges, LeBlanc persevered, reflecting later on how these experiences shaped him. “But I got through it. Don’t they say, ‘What doesn’t kill us, only makes us stronger?'” he shared.

2007-2011

After the cancellation of “Joey” in 2006, LeBlanc made the unexpected decision to step away from the entertainment industry entirely. For five years, he remained out of the spotlight, taking a much-needed break to focus on his personal life.

Reflecting on this period, LeBlanc admitted, “For years and years, I barely left the house. I was burnt out. I wanted to not have a schedule, not be somewhere. I was in a position to do that.”

LeBlanc described this time as a dark chapter in his life, one where he almost reached the brink of a nervous breakdown. “My agent was bummed. Most actors call their agents and say, ‘What’s going on?’ I’d call mine and say, ‘Please lose my number for a few years,'” the actor revealed.

However, in 2011, LeBlanc made a surprising comeback, as a fictionalized version of himself in the series “Episodes.” “None of it’s me. Even the parts that are me, are not me,” LeBlanc cryptically explained.

LeBlanc’s return in “Episodes” showcased his natural comedic talent, something that had always been a core part of his personality. “I like to laugh. I’ve been like this my whole life. I have funny bones. If there’s ever any kind of tension, I’ll always be the one to try and be funny to loosen things up,” he shared.

2015 – 2016

By 2015, LeBlanc had stepped back significantly from the hustle of Hollywood. After his initial return with “Episodes,” the actor found himself grappling with the toll that years of fame and constant work had taken on him.

2017

After eight years of embodying his unique character, it was time for LeBlanc to say goodbye to “Episodes” in 2017. Reflecting on his time with the show, LeBlanc expressed gratitude, saying, “I’ve just been so, so lucky to be a part of it.”

As “Episodes” came to an end, LeBlanc quickly transitioned into another major role in the sitcom “Man with a Plan.” However, in 2020, the series was canceled, marking the end of another chapter in LeBlanc’s varied television career.

In 2022, LeBlanc made one of his last public appearances before retreating from the spotlight once again. The actor sported a distinguished look that combined his signature casual charm with a touch of mature elegance.

2023

In 2023, the entertainment world was rocked by the unexpected passing of Matthew Perry, LeBlanc’s close friend and former co-star from “Friends.” Although LeBlanc had remained out of the public eye throughout the year, he took to social media to pay a heartfelt tribute to Perry.

“It was tough when Matthew [Perry] was battling his addiction. And there were certain times that we didn’t all agree on things, but the good times far outweighed those times,” LeBlanc revealed during an interview.

2024

In 2024, LeBlanc was spotted out and about, marking his first public appearance after a long absence from the spotlight. However, the actor appeared noticeably different.

LeBlanc’s hair, now significantly more silver, reflected the natural progression of time, and his beard also carried the distinguished look of age.

The actor was seen with a fuller figure, a stark contrast to his leaner days as Joey Tribbiani. LeBlanc’s recent appearance quickly sparked a flurry of reactions online, with fans and commenters divided in their opinions.

“🥶🤔 what did he [go] through. Death of his friend might have affected him,” one person shared. Another typed, “Not looking good for being 57 yr old. Needs to change his diet.”

However, others defended LeBlanc, with one person commenting“He is just heavier.” Another added“I think he looks awesome!” A third shared“He looks great still!”

“Why, cause he has gained weight and has grey hair!!! Guess what, these celebrities are human, and they age just like the rest of us,” another social media user said in response to claims that LeBlanc looked “unrecognizable.”

Matt LeBlanc’s journey from the charming Joey Tribbiani to his recent return to the public eye reflects a life marked by immense highs, personal struggles, and a desire for privacy. While his recent appearance sparked mixed reactions, it serves as a reminder of the natural passage of time and the enduring impact of his work.

Experts reveal seven foods you should never cook in an air fryer as it could be major 'safety risk'

Lots of people use their air fryers every day, but certain foods should be kept far away

Experts have spoken out about seven foods you should never cook in an air fryer if you want your food to be safe and, well, edible.

Air fryers have changed the game when it comes to getting hot, crispy food on your plate in a short space of time, but there are some items the magical machine isn’t best suited for.

A series of experts opened up on the foods to avoid putting in your air fryer for an article on Martha Stewart’s website, and some of them might surprise you.

Light foods

I’m not talking about the metaphorical ‘something light’ when you’re trying to eat healthily here, but rather foods that are physically light in weight – think a single slice of toast with cheese, or a tortilla you’re looking to crisp up.

Air fryers work by circulating hot air to cook your food, and if you’ve come across any videos featuring transparent air fryers recently, you’ll know how this can impact a light piece of food.

If your food is too light, it could completely fall apart in the air fryer and potentially even cause issues to the device.

Holly Nilsson, a cookbook author, explained: “Foods that are very light, such as single tortillas and kale chips, can fly around and get caught in the elements.”

Cakes

As tempting as it might be to try and get the perfect sponge with the help of an air fryer, recipe critic and cookbook author Alyssa Rivers has warned against the idea.

Rivers warned that cakes cooked in an air fryer tend to dry out quickly, adding: “The fast-moving air often makes them rise unevenly, so you end up with lopsided treats.”

Definitely not what you want if you’re considering yourself to be the next winner of The Great British Baking Show.

Popcorn

A spontaneous movie night calls for popcorn, and what better way to get it than chucking some kernels in the air fryer? Well, apparently a popcorn maker or the stovetop – basically just the traditional ways.

Air fryers aren’t the best for popcorn, as Nilsson pointed out they typically won’t get hot enough to pop the kernels. On the off chance yours does, there’s a strong possibility the corn will pop right into the heating element, creating a safety hazard.

Raw Grains

Following on from the popcorn problem, we also have grains like rice, pasta and barley.

All of these items are intended to be boiled in water to soften them, so sticking them in an air fryer won’t have any positive results.

Rivers explained: “Air fryers can’t cook rice or pasta because they’re not meant to boil water, which grains need to absorb and soften.”

Whole Roasts

This might be one of the most surprising warnings, as many people have praised the air fryer for its ability to cook meals suitable for the whole family.

Unfortunately, however, Rivers has warned that most air fryers aren’t big enough to properly cook large pieces of meat, and instead would result in an uneven cook.

Rivers has warned that some parts of the meat could be undercooked – an outcome that could result in food poisoning if you ate it without noticing.

Food with wet batter

A lot of videos online show air fryer fans making their own fried chicken by creating the batter and popping it into the device, but Rivers had warned that battered foods like tempura could actually end up making a bit of a mess in the cooker.

“Instead of turning golden and crispy, wet batters drip down through the basket, leaving you with a soggy, uneven mess,” the author explained.

Tough Cuts of Meat

The air fryer is great for cooking food quickly, but that’s not necessarily a pro when we’re talking about meats like stewing beef or ribs.

Nilsson pointed out that these kinds of cuts ‘benefit from low and slow cooking to break down the tough tissue and make them tender’.

Nilsson advised instead braising or slow-cooking these kinds of meats, though she noted: “Ribs can be finished in the air fryer with a brush of BBQ sauce for a little sticky char.”

So there you have it. Happy cooking!

Her rise to fame came unexpectedly, and she considers herself “fortunate” for the twist of fate that launched her career. Despite her success, she has faced significant challenges, including a life-threatening diagnosis.

This actress became a TV icon after starring in an ’80s hit show, for which she received two Emmy nominations. Her successful career brought her into the life of a fellow actor who tragically passed away.

The actress’s path to stardom, shaped by a mix of talent and unexpected twists, took a significant turn in the late 1970s. While committed to a Broadway production of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” a newspaper strike in New York disrupted plans for out-of-town shows.

This fortunate timing allowed her to take on the pilot for “Hart to Hart,” a project that would become a defining chapter in her career. “I will be forever grateful to whichever union caused the strike and allowed me to work on the pilot,” she expressed in an interview once.

Her time on “Hart to Hart” cemented her status as a beloved figure in Hollywood, but her personal life was equally compelling. At just 19, she met Oscar-winning actor William Holden at a dinner party, though their romance didn’t begin until 1972, after years of chance encounters.

Their relationship was deeply rooted in shared passions. “We both had curiosities about people, places, history, art and wildlife,” she revealed in her memoir “One From the Hart.” Early in their relationship, Holden introduced her to Kenya, a journey that proved transformative.

However, their relationship faced difficult moments. In Los Angeles, the actor experienced a severe health scare after drinking, and her swift intervention likely saved him. Though friends urged her to step away, she chose to remain by his side.

“I opted to stay the course,” the Hollywood native reflected, guided by her unwavering dedication. Their time together, though challenging, brought meaningful milestones. Holden was sober for six years during their nine-year relationship, the longest in his adult life.

The profound loss of Holden was a reminder of the remarkable life he lived, both on and off the screen. Known for iconic roles like “Stalag 17,” he also nurtured family bonds, supported wildlife conservation, and even assisted the CIA.

“Fame did not interest him,” his daughter, Virginia Holden Gaines, once shared, highlighting his humble nature. Holden’s partner founded the William Holden Wildlife Foundation to honor his legacy by promoting wildlife conservation and sustainable practices in Kenya.

Honoring Holden’s memory through her conservation work, she also found room for new beginnings in her personal life. At 21, she married actor Gary Lockwood in 1966, but their relationship faced challenges.

Lockwood’s control over finances led to risky investments in coastal land and Malibu properties, both of which suffered due to development restrictions, leaving them with significant debt.

Reflecting on the aftermath of their divorce in 1972, she said, “I was 28 and I had nowhere to live. Luckily I was young enough to bounce back. Not everybody does.”

After rebuilding her life, she found love again with French businessman Patrick de la Chesnais. Their marriage, marked by time spent apart as he lived primarily in France, lasted six years before ending in divorce in 1999.

Although she has no children, she cherishes her role as a godmother. She also takes pride in her connection to Holden’s family, noting with joy that his niece and granddaughter have joined the board of the wildlife foundation created in his honor.

Neurosurgeon details the firsthand effects he’s seen alcohol have on the brain

Alcohol can cause a host of serious health complications

A neurosurgeon has shared the effects alcohol has on the brain after seeing it for himself.

Dr Brett Osborn, Section Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Florida, has addressed a new advisory issued by US Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy.

On Friday (January 3), Dr Murthy raised the alarm about how alcohol can increase a person’s chances of developing cancer and is calling for alcoholic beverages to come with a health warning.

“Alcohol is a well-established, preventable cause of cancer responsible for about 100,000 cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths annually in the United States – greater than the 13,500 alcohol-associated traffic crash fatalities per year in the US – yet the majority of Americans are unaware of this risk,” he said in a statement.

“This Advisory lays out steps we can all take to increase awareness of alcohol’s cancer risk and minimize harm.”

Now Dr Osborn has praised Dr Murthy’s recent advisory and said: “It’s about time.”

While some of the oldest people in the world have linked wine to their longevity, Dr Osborn insists that there aren’t any health benefits that come with drinking booze.

“I know the age-old adage that you can have a drink or two a day and it’s good for your heart – no, it’s not,” he told Fox News.

“It’s not good for your heart. It’s not good for your brain. It’s not good for your waistline.”

Dr Osborn has seen the damage it can cause to your brain firsthand.

“We know that people who drink have bad brains,” he said. “I actually operated on one two days ago.”

He was referring to a patient with alcoholism who had a fall in recent days, leading to a blood clot.

The clot required surgery, but Dr Osborn didn’t have an optimistic assessment for the man.

He said: “By virtue of the fact that he is an alcoholic… he’s going to do poorly.

“These patients, just in general, their organ systems in general, they’re dysfunctional, they’re malfunctioning. And ultimately, it portends to a bad outcome.”

While Dr Osborne is an advocate for abstaining from alcohol, he understands that people can’t just go cold turkey.

Instead, he’s urging people to try decrease their booze intake by 50 percent. That way, they can ‘gradually just taper off’.

Dr Osborn went on: “I don’t want it in my practice. I don’t want it for my patients. I don’t use it myself. It’s bad. Get rid of it.”

I Lost My Family Heirloom Ring Before Dinner – But It Led to the Most Memorable Night for My Son and His Girlfriend

Losing my heirloom ring an hour before dinner with my son’s girlfriend was the last thing I expected. Yet, that night didn’t just end with a lost-and-found story. It turned into the most unforgettable evening for Ethan and Sophia.

You’d think hosting a family dinner would be simple, right? Not when you’re me.

I’m Amy, a mom of two—Ethan (23) and Claire (28)—and the keeper of a cherished family heirloom: a ring that’s been passed down for three generations.

I never imagined that ring would spark such chaos, let alone create a moment we’d never forget.

Being a mom of two grown kids and a wife to my wonderful husband, Dave, has been my life’s greatest joy.

Claire, my oldest, is fiercely independent, already carving her path in life. Ethan, my baby boy, is a charming young man with a kind heart. Watching him grow has been bittersweet. He’ll always be my little boy, even as he steps confidently into adulthood.

Recently, Ethan dropped a little bombshell over dinner.

“Mom, Dad,” he began, fidgeting with his fork, “there’s someone I want you to meet.”

My heart swelled.

“Oh? Who’s the lucky girl?” I asked, barely able to contain my excitement.

“Her name’s Sophia,” he replied with a smile. “We met in college. She’s amazing, and I want her to meet you guys.”

Dave chuckled, clapping Ethan on the back. “Well, it’s about time you brought someone home.”

“Of course, we’d love to meet her,” I said, wiping away a tear. “Invite her over this Saturday. We’ll have dinner as a family.”

The look on Ethan’s face was something I’ll always remember. He was so happy to hear our approval.

“Thanks, Mom. She’s going to love you guys.”

From that moment, I was on a mission.

Saturday couldn’t come fast enough. I wanted everything to be perfect—not just for Ethan, but for Sophia, too.

Dave teased me about going all out.

“You’re setting the bar high, Amy. Future mother-in-law goals,” he joked.

But I didn’t mind. Seeing Ethan happy was worth every effort.

I planned a delicious menu and decided to make fruit punch, Ethan’s favorite. Claire even agreed to come early to help. It was going to be a special night.

I couldn’t wait to meet Sophia and see how she and Ethan fit together.

Little did I know, my excitement would soon turn into panic over a missing family treasure.

Saturday morning arrived, and I was already in the kitchen, prepping for dinner when Claire walked in. She swung open the door, her usual lively self, with her purse dangling from her shoulder.

“Hey, Mom!” she called out, kicking off her shoes by the door. “You’ve been up since dawn, haven’t you?”

“Guilty as charged,” I said with a chuckle. “There’s still a lot to do, so I’m glad you’re here.”

Claire set her purse down on the counter and peeked into the oven. “Smells amazing already. You always overdo it, Mom.”

“Well,” I said, grinning, “it’s not every day your brother brings someone special home to meet the family.”

Claire laughed, grabbing an apron. “True. I can’t wait to meet Sophia. She must be something if Ethan’s this serious about her.”

“She is,” I said, smiling softly. “He really likes her. You know how picky he’s always been. It’s sweet to see him so excited.”

Claire nodded, heading toward my bedroom. “I need to use your bathroom. Be right back, and then I’ll help with everything.”

“Take your time!” I called after her.

While Claire was in the bathroom, I diced vegetables and marinated the chicken. Dave wandered into the kitchen, coffee mug in hand.

He leaned against the counter, watching me for a moment. “Look at you, playing the perfect host,” he teased.

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t start with me.”

He smirked. “I’m just saying, you’re going all out. You’ve got future mother-in-law written all over you.”

“Dave…” I warned, but I couldn’t help laughing.

He kissed my cheek and took a sip of his coffee. “You love it. Admit it.”

I smiled. “Of course I do. I just want everything to go smoothly.”

Just then, Claire returned from the bedroom.

“Okay, let’s do this!” she announced, tying her hair back. “Tell me what needs doing.”

“Could you dice the fruits for the punch?” I asked, pulling out a bowl of fresh strawberries, oranges, and apples.

“On it,” she said, washing her hands before getting to work.

As she sliced and diced, she hummed a tune under her breath. I couldn’t help but smile as I watched her. There was something comforting about having my daughter in the kitchen with me, especially on a day like this.

“All done, Mom,” Claire said as she handed me the sliced fruits.

“Great,” I said. “I’ll garnish the drinks with them.”

“Hmm…” Claire began. “Actually, Mom… I’ve been eyeing a dress at the mall. If I leave now, I’ll be back in time to help before dinner. Is that okay with you?”

I waved her off. “Go! Everything’s pretty much ready anyway.”

“Are you sure?” she asked, already heading for the door.

“Go get your dress, Claire. I’ll finish up here,” I assured her.

She grinned. “Thanks, Mom! You’re the best.”

After she left, I did the final touches and went to my bedroom to get ready.

I opened my jewelry box, scanning my collection. But as I reached for my heirloom ring, my heart stopped.

It wasn’t there.

Panic set in immediately. That ring wasn’t just any ring. It had been in my family for three generations.

I tore through my drawers and rummaged through the jewelry box again, hoping I’d just overlooked it. But it was gone.

“Dave!” I yelled, my voice shaking.

He rushed in, eyebrows raised. “What’s wrong?”

“I can’t find my ring,” I stammered. “It’s missing. My heirloom ring! I wore it last night, and now it’s gone!”

“Okay, calm down,” he said. “We’ll find it.”

“I’ve looked everywhere,” I said, running my hands through my hair. “It’s gone.”

“Let’s search the whole house,” Dave suggested. “Maybe you took it off somewhere and forgot.”

For the next hour, we turned the house upside down. We checked every corner of the house, but there was no sign of my ring.

Dave placed a hand on my shoulder. “It’s probably in the backyard. I’ll call the guys from work who have metal detectors. They’ll help us.”

I nodded, trying to keep it together.

An hour later, two men with metal detectors were scouring our backyard when Claire returned from the mall.

She stepped inside and froze.

“What the heck happened here?” she asked, staring at me.

I sighed, exhausted. “I lost my heirloom ring.”

“The ring?” Claire’s voice faltered, and I noticed her face pale.

“Yes, the ring. Why?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “Do you know something?”

Claire quickly shook her head. “No… no, of course not. I’m just… surprised.”

But there was something in her expression. A flicker of guilt.

By the time Ethan and Sophia arrived, the house looked like a disaster zone, and I was still holding out hope we’d find the ring before anyone noticed.

I forced a smile as I greeted them. “Welcome! Come on in.”

As they walked past the metal detector guys in the backyard, I cringed. This was going to be an interesting dinner.

I tried to focus on being a gracious host, but my eyes kept drifting toward Sophia.

She was lovely, polite, cheerful, and clearly nervous.

I stole glances at Ethan, too. He was doing his best to keep the conversation light, but even he couldn’t ignore the lingering tension in the air.

“So, Sophia,” Dave began, his voice warm. “Ethan tells us you’re a writer. What kind of things do you write?”

Sophia perked up a little. “Mostly short stories. I’ve been working on a novel, but it’s a slow process.”

“Slow?” Ethan teased, grinning at her. “She’s being modest. She’s already got a publishing deal lined up.”

Sophia blushed. “It’s just a small deal…”

“That’s fantastic!” I said, trying to inject some enthusiasm despite my distracted mind.

“Yeah, Mom,” Claire chimed in, giving me a pointed look. “Not every day you meet a soon-to-be-famous author.”

I shot her a warning glance, silently reminding her that I wasn’t in the mood for teasing. She quickly looked away and sipped her fruit punch.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly—until it wasn’t.

We’d just finished our meal, and everyone was relaxing with drinks, chatting about Ethan and Sophia’s college days. That’s when it happened.

“Oh my God,” Sophia suddenly gasped, staring into her glass of punch. Her hand shot out, fishing something shiny from the bottom.

It was my ring.

“This is… this is a ring!” Sophia stammered, holding it up for everyone to see. Her eyes darted to Ethan. “Ethan! Are you—are you proposing to me?”

My heart skipped a beat.

“What? No! I mean… not like this!” Ethan blurted out. “I didn’t… I wasn’t planning to—”

Sophia looked completely stunned, her hand shaking as she held the ring.

Dave coughed awkwardly. “Well, this is unexpected.”

“That’s Mom’s ring!” Claire said. “We’ve been searching for it all day!”

The room descended into chaos. Sophia was mortified, Ethan looked like he wanted to crawl under the table, and Claire looked too shocked.

“Family meeting!” I declared, ushering Dave, Ethan, and Claire into the kitchen, leaving Sophia sitting at the table, still clutching the ring.

“Okay,” I said, crossing my arms. “Can someone please explain how my heirloom ring ended up in the punch?”

Claire was the first to speak. She took a deep breath, guilt written all over her face.

“Mom… I think it’s my fault.”

Ethan’s jaw dropped. “Wait—what?”

Claire winced. “I… I wore the ring earlier today. When I went to the bathroom, I saw it sitting on your dresser, and I thought it would go well with my outfit. I was just going to try it on for a minute…”

“Claire!” I exclaimed, my heart pounding. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I panicked!” she confessed. “When I came back from the mall and saw the mess, I realized I must’ve lost it. I thought maybe it fell off at the mall. I didn’t want to say anything and make things worse.”

Dave shook his head, letting out a low whistle. “And it ended up in the punch?”

Claire shrugged, looking sheepish. “I must’ve dropped it while I was slicing the fruit. I didn’t even realize it.”

I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Claire… you should’ve said something.”

“I know. I’m sorry, Mom.” Her voice softened. “I really am.”

I took a deep breath, my frustration melting away. It was hard to stay mad when I knew she hadn’t meant to cause trouble.

“It’s okay,” I said, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Just… no more sneaky jewelry borrowing, okay?”

She nodded. “Deal.”

I turned to Ethan, who was still wide-eyed and staring at the ring in Sophia’s hand.

“Look,” I said gently. “This might not be how you planned it, but Sophia clearly adores you. Why not take this as a sign? If you truly love her, this could be the perfect moment.”

Ethan blinked, processing my words. Slowly, a smile spread across his face.

“You know what? You’re right,” he said.

He revealed that he was already planning to propose to her, and had even chosen a ring online.

He explained he wanted to introduce her to her family first to see our reaction.

We all told him that we would be glad to have Sophia as a member of our family.

When we returned to the dining room, Sophia was still sitting there with the ring in her hand.

I smiled warmly. “We were just teasing you, Sophia. But Ethan does have something to say.”

Ethan took the ring from her hand and got down on one knee.

“Sophia,” he said, his voice steady. “Sorry for the prank. But the truth is, you mean the world to me. Will you marry me?”

Sophia’s shock melted into joy. “Yes! Yes, of course!”

I almost cried as I watched Ethan slip the heirloom ring onto Sophia’s finger.

Dave hugged me, whispering, “Well, that’s one way to propose.”

And I couldn’t help but laugh, thinking that losing my ring might’ve been the best thing to happen to our family.

Disney fans have just realized who Andy's mom from Toy Story really is

Fans have been shocked to make the discovery

Disney fans reckon they’ve worked out who Andy’s mom from Toy Story really is.

The nostalgic movie series has been capturing hearts since the release of its first instalment in 1995.

The beloved animated franchise is the third-highest-grossing of all time, raking in $3.3 billion worldwide.

And while we’ve all watched Andy grow up in emotional scenes over the years, I bet his mom’s childhood has never crossed your mind.

Well, fans reckon Andy’s mom is actually the star of another popular children’s movie.

Ever wondered what Andy's mom's backstory was? (Disney)

Ever wondered what Andy’s mom’s backstory was? (Disney)

One eagle-eyed fan took to social media to highlight the clever ways multiple Disney movies appear to be linked.

Instagram user @asheleysspam posted a video showing how Toy Story, Bugs Life, Turning Red, Inside Out, and Monster’s Inc seem to belong in the same universe.

While you might not think they’re interlinked, Asheley sure did provide the receipts, and she realized that Andy’s mom is actually the sweet kid from Inside Out.

You can’t deny it – Riley from Inside Out looks just like Andy’s mom as a child.

They both have fair hair and blue eyes, and even their bone structures are super similar.

Surely, that’s not just a coincidence…

The theory runs even deeper than appearances, though, as Asheley shows there’s a moment from Inside Out where Joy pulls up a little happy memory orb from Riley which shows her going down a slide as a toddler.

Could Riley grow up to be Andy's mom? (Disney)

Could Riley grow up to be Andy’s mom? (Disney)

Asheley checked the playground in Toy Story, and guess what? It’s the same slide set!

If that’s not enough to convince you, there’s even more proof.

Asheley linked Boo from Monster’s Inc through a blurred poster in Inside Out on Riley’s bedroom wall, which appears to match the boyband group from Turning Red.

Then, there’s a character in the film about puberty who looks like a slightly older version of Boo, wearing purple.

It goes full circle when Asheley pulls up a scene in Toy Story showing a kid in nursery who also looks like Boo.

Naturally, people on social media had a lot to say about the theory – and not everyone agreed.

One person wrote: “yo WHAT,” as another said: “NO WAY THATS CRAZY.”

But some were cynical, as one person suggested: “Or maybe, hear me out … Disney wanted to take shortcuts and reused assets?”

Another wrote: “Disney movies are all connected in some sort of way and yes they reuse many things.”

In fairness, Asheley could just be pointing out the classic Disney ‘Easter Eggs’, which is just like a little nod to each film in other movies.

Maybe it’s not that deep after all…

Another issue people pointed out was that the movies’ timelines don’t actually match up.

A user on Reddit clarified in a similar thread which asked if the two characters were the same people as they look very alike.

This user pointed out the difference in technology, writing: “Riley has a laptop in the movie, meaning it probably takes place around now-ish. So that would mean that Toy Story takes place in around 2035ish? Not very likely.”

A three-year-old throws tantrums and begs his mother not to go to daycare. Worried, she goes in unannounced and what she sees shocks her.

“No, mommy, no!” Johnny threw himself on the floor and started screaming. Marla Evans sighed. Not again! She looked at her watch. If he threw a full tantrum, she would be late yet again.

She gazed at her three-year-old with exasperation. Johnny had been going to daycare for two years and always loved it. For the last week, out of the blue, he’d been making a scene, begging Marla not to take him.

She’d spoken to her pediatrician, and the doctor had told her that toddlers often went through the ‘terrible threes.’ “Stop it!” Marla heard herself scream, then she saw the look of fear in her son’s eyes. Something wasn’t right.

Marla sat down on the floor next to Johnny and coaxed him into her lap. He sobbed, pressing his little face against hers. Marla decided this was more than a tantrum, but what could be wrong?

“Honey,” Marla said gently. “I’m sorry. Mommy didn’t mean to snap.” She rocked him until he stopped crying and asked gently, “Why don’t you like daycare anymore?”

Raising a child is about setting and respecting boundaries.

Johnny shivered in her arms and whispered, “I don’t like!”

“But why, sweetie?” Marla asked. “Are the other kids mean?” But Johnny wouldn’t answer. Marla sighed. “Baby, mommy needs to go to work, but I tell you what… I’m going to come and get you from daycare early today, OK?”

Johnny sat up in her lap. “No lunch?” He looked up at her anxiously. “No lunch, mommy?”

Lunch? The worried mom frowned. What was happening with her son?

Marla dropped Johnny off after promising she’d fetch him before lunch. He walked into the daycare quietly but threw Marla a pleading look that left her heartbroken.

She went to work and asked her boss for the afternoon off to deal with a personal issue. Thankfully, her boss was a mom too and understood!

Marla was determined to get to the bottom of Johnny’s reluctance to go to daycare. She decided to drop in — not before lunchtime as she promised Johnny — but during the meal.

Johnny’s daycare didn’t allow the parents into the children’s playrooms or the dining room, but each door of the facility had a large, clear glass window. Hopefully, Marla would be able to see what — if anything — was going on.

When she arrived, the receptionist told her the children were having lunch. Marla walked to the dining room and peered in. The kids were all sitting at their tables, eating.

A teacher or an assistant supervised each table. Marla quickly spotted Johnny. There was a woman Marla didn’t recognize sitting next to him.

As Marla watched, the woman picked up Johnny’s spoon, scooped up a portion of mashed potatoes, and pressed it against his lips. “Eat!” she cried. Johnny shook his head violently, his mouth firmly closed, tears running down his cheeks.

“Open your mouth and eat!” the woman said angrily. Johnny was looking deeply distressed. The woman cried, “You are going to sit here until you clear your plate!”

Marla saw a small portion of mince, mash, and vegetables left on Johnny’s plate, and she knew her son. Johnny was not a big eater; she never pushed it when he told her he’d had enough.

Johnny opened his mouth to protest, and the teacher quickly pushed the spoon in. Marla saw her son choke and sputter. She’d had enough! She opened the door and stormed in.

“Get away from my son!” she cried.

The woman looked up, and her mouth hung open. “Parents aren’t allowed in the dining room!” she cried.

“Then they should be,” Marla said, reining in her anger. “Can’t you see Johnny’s had enough? He’s a healthy boy, but he is not a big eater. As an educator, you should know how traumatic force-feeding a child can be.

“Being forced to clean up the plate is an old-fashioned notion. You should be aware of the statistics and the causes of obesity and eating disorders in children.

“And one of them is making food an issue! My little boy is an active child, and if he feels he’s had enough, you need to respect that and not force him to eat.

“As for shoving food into a child’s mouth in that way, it is reprehensible! You should certainly know better. These children are not puppets for you to manipulate at will!

“They are little people with needs and a will of their own. If you don’t respect their boundaries, you teach them they don’t deserve respect. I don’t think that is a message you want to pass on!”

For illustration purposes only | Source: Unsplash

“That’s a pity,” Marla said crisply. “Because if this happens again, I will ensure you are out of a job! I’m not sending my son to daycare to be brutalized!”

Marla walked over to Johnny and tenderly wiped his mouth. “Come on, honey,” she said gently. “Mommy promised you a treat this afternoon!”

Marla had a long talk with Johnny, and there was no tantrum the next morning. Over the next few weeks, she popped into the daycare at lunch times just to keep an eye on things.

The teacher never forced Johnny to eat again, and the boy recovered his good humor and enthusiasm.

  • Children and their boundaries should be respected. Johnny’s teacher was teaching him that adults had the right to impose their will on children against their welfare.
  • Raising a child is about setting and respecting boundaries — theirs and ours. A child whose boundaries are not respected is insecure and has low self-esteem.

Woman whose face is 'melting off' her head speaks out about living with the condition

Sharanjeet Kaur has been living with a tumor on her face for 23 years

An Indian woman whose face is ‘melting’ has revealed what life is like living with the condition.

Sharanjeet Kaur was just 15 years old when a tumor started to develop on her face but was unable to garner the funds to pay for the expensive treatment.

The 38-year-old lives with her husband in Phagwara, a city in the Punjab region of northern India – roughly 85 miles from the Lahore, the capital city of Pakistan, which to put that into comparison is around the same distance between Philadelphia and New York City.

While treatment to ‘fix’ her condition is available, Kaur and her husband are still in no position to splash out on it – despite it now leaving her physically blind.

“I had a tumor on my face at 15 years old due to which one of my eyes was completely damaged,” she shared.

“I cannot see even from my other eye. I have had to face many problems because of that.

“Despite not having eyes, I do all the household work very well.”

Kaur went on to explain how her husband is also blind but his disability hasn’t prevented him from getting a job.

She continued: “My husband is also blind but he also does all the work well.

“My family and my husband are very poor and they cannot afford my expensive treatment.

“The doctors say that the treatment of me and my husband will cost a lot but we do not have any means of earning, so we cannot get the treatment done.”

Tragically, the tumor that has been growing and has left Kaur’s entire face disfigured and appearing as if it were ‘melting off’.

Elsewhere in India, a woman became the first female on the planet to don a man’s hands – and noticed some shocking changes since the transplant.

Eight years ago, 18-year-old Shreya Siddanagowder lost both her arms below the elbow after she was involved in a horrific accident while riding the bus.

However, instead of dwelling in self-pity – which would be completely understandable – it has become ‘the making’ of her.

After trying prosthetic hands, Siddanagowder explained that it ‘didn’t work for her’, and so in 2017, she underwent a 13-hour transplant operation performed by a whopping 16 anesthesiologists and 20 surgeons.

The donor of her hands was a 21-year-old who was tragically killed following a collision on his bike.

Speaking about her hands in a 2019 Facebook video from the MOHAN Foundation, an Indian organ donation and transplantation charity, Siddanagowder urged viewers to appreciate their hands because they are ‘one of the greatest assets you can ever have’.

“My real mom still lives here,” my stepson whispered one night. I laughed it off, until I started noticing strange things around our home.

When I married Ben, I thought I understood what it meant to step into the life of a widower. He had been so devoted to his late wife, Irene, and he was raising their seven-year-old son, Lucas, all on his own.

I respected the deep love he still held for her, knowing it was tied to the memory of his first love and Lucas’ mother. I wasn’t here to replace her, just to create a new chapter for all of us.

The first few months as a family were everything I had hoped for. Lucas welcomed me warmly, with none of the hesitation I had feared. I spent hours playing games with him, reading his favorite bedtime stories, and helping him with schoolwork.

I even learned to make his favorite mac and cheese exactly how he liked it — extra cheesy with breadcrumbs on top.

One day, out of nowhere, Lucas started calling me “Mom,” and every time, Ben and I would catch each other’s eye with proud smiles. It felt like things were falling perfectly into place.

One night, after a cozy evening, I was tucking Lucas into bed. Suddenly, he looked up at me, his eyes wide and serious. “You know, my real mom still lives here,” he whispered.

I chuckled softly, running my fingers through his hair. “Oh, sweetheart, your mom will always be with you, in your heart.”

But Lucas shook his head, clutching my hand with an intensity that made my heart skip. “No, she’s here. In the house. I see her sometimes.”

A chill prickled at the back of my neck. I forced a smile, brushing it off as a child’s imagination running wild. “It’s just a dream, honey. Go to sleep.”

Lucas settled down, but I felt uneasy. I pushed the thought aside, telling myself he was just adjusting to a new family, a new normal. But as the days passed, small things around the house began to unsettle me.

For starters, I’d clean up Lucas’ toys, only to find them later exactly where I’d picked them up. Not just once or twice, but again and again.

And the kitchen cabinets — I’d rearrange them the way I liked, but the next morning, things were back in their old places, like someone was trying to undo my touch on the home. It was unnerving, but I kept telling myself it was just my mind playing tricks.

Then, one evening, I noticed something I couldn’t explain. I had moved Irene’s photograph from the living room to a more discreet shelf in the hallway. But when I came downstairs the next day, there it was, back in its original spot, perfectly dusted as though someone had just cleaned it.

I took a deep breath and decided to discuss it with Ben. “Are you moving things around the house?” I asked one evening, trying to sound casual as we were finishing dinner.

Ben looked up, grinning as though I’d told a silly joke. “No, Brenda, why would I? I think you’re just imagining things.”

He laughed, but there was something in his eyes — a hint of discomfort or maybe reluctance. I couldn’t place it, but I felt an invisible wall between us.

A few nights later, Lucas and I were working on a puzzle on the living room floor. He was focused, placing the pieces with his little tongue poking out in concentration, when he suddenly looked up at me, eyes wide and sincere.

“Mom says you shouldn’t touch her things.”

My heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean, sweetie?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady as I glanced toward the hallway.

Lucas leaned in, lowering his voice. “Real Mom. She doesn’t like it when you move her things,” he whispered, glancing over his shoulder like he expected someone to be watching us.

I sat frozen, trying to process what he was saying.

The way he looked at me was so serious, like he was sharing a secret he wasn’t supposed to. I forced a smile, nodded, and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “It’s okay, Lucas. You don’t have to worry. Let’s finish up our puzzle, alright?”

But that night, as Ben and I lay in bed, my mind raced. I tried to tell myself it was just a kid’s overactive imagination. But each time I closed my eyes, I’d hear Lucas’ words, see the way he’d glanced nervously toward the hallway.

When Ben was finally asleep, I got up quietly, heading to the attic. I knew Ben kept some of Irene’s old things in a box up there. Maybe if I could see them and find out more about her, it would help me understand why Lucas was acting this way.

I climbed the creaky stairs, my flashlight slicing through the dark, until I found the box tucked in a corner, dusty but well-kept.

The lid was heavier than I expected, as though it had absorbed years of memories. I pulled it off and found old photos, letters she’d written to Ben, and her wedding ring wrapped carefully in tissue. It was all so personal, and I felt a strange pang of guilt going through it.

But there was something else. A few items looked freshly moved, almost as if they’d been handled recently. And that’s when I noticed it: a small door in the corner, half hidden behind a stack of boxes.

I froze, squinting at the door. I’d been in the attic a few times but had never noticed it. Slowly, I pushed the boxes aside and twisted the old, tarnished knob. It clicked, opening into a narrow room dimly lit by a small window.

And there, sitting on a twin bed covered in blankets, was a woman I recognized immediately from the photos. She looked up, her eyes wide.

I stepped back, startled, and stammered, “You… you’re Emily, Ben’s sister, aren’t you?”

Emily’s expression shifted from surprise to something else — a quiet, eerie calm. “I’m sorry. You weren’t supposed to find out this way.”

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. “Why didn’t Ben tell me? Why are you up here?”

She looked down, smoothing the edge of her blanket. “Ben didn’t want you to know. He thought you’d leave if you found out… if you saw me like this. I’ve… I’ve been here for three years now.”

“Three years?” I could barely process it. “You’ve been hiding up here all this time?”

Emily nodded slowly, her gaze distant. “I don’t… go outside much. I prefer it up here. But sometimes, I get restless. And Lucas… I talk to him sometimes. He’s such a sweet boy.”

A chill ran through me. “Emily, what are you telling him? He thinks his mother’s still here. He told me that she doesn’t like it when I move things.”

Emily’s face softened, but there was a trace of something unsettling in her eyes. “I tell him stories sometimes. About his mother. He misses her. I think it comforts him to know she’s still… present.”

“But he thinks you’re her. Lucas thinks you’re his real mom,” I said, my voice breaking.

She looked away. “Maybe it’s better that way. Maybe it helps him to feel she’s still here.”

I felt my head spinning as I backed out of the room, closing the door behind me. This was beyond anything I could have imagined. I went straight downstairs, finding Ben in the living room, his face immediately full of concern when he saw me.

“Ben,” I whispered, barely holding it together. “Why didn’t you tell me about Emily?”

He went pale, his eyes darting away. “Brenda, I—”

“Do you realize what she’s been doing? Lucas thinks… he thinks she’s his real mom!”

Ben’s face fell, and he sank onto the couch, his head in his hands. “I didn’t know it had gotten that bad. I thought… I thought keeping her here, out of sight, would be best. I couldn’t leave her alone. She’s my sister. And after Irene passed, Emily wasn’t the same. She refused to get any help.”

I sat beside him, gripping his hand. “But she’s confusing Lucas, Ben. He’s just a child. He doesn’t understand.”

Ben sighed, nodding slowly. “You’re right. This isn’t fair to Lucas—or to you. We can’t keep pretending like everything’s fine.”

After a few moments, I whispered, “I think we should set up a camera, just to see if she’s really been leaving her room. To know for sure.”

Ben hesitated, but eventually, he agreed. We set up a small, hidden camera outside Emily’s door that night.

The next evening, after Lucas had gone to bed, we sat in our room, watching the footage. For hours, nothing happened. Then, just past midnight, we saw her door creak open.

Emily stepped into the hallway, her hair loose around her face, and stood there, looking at Lucas’ bedroom door.

Then Lucas appeared, rubbing his eyes, and walked toward her. Even on the grainy screen, I could see his little hand reaching for her. She knelt down, whispering something to him, her hand on his shoulder. I couldn’t hear the words, but I saw Lucas nod and say something back, looking up at her with that same, earnest expression.

I felt a wave of anger and sadness I couldn’t quite control. “She’s been… she’s been feeding his imagination, Ben. This isn’t healthy.”

Ben watched the screen, his face drawn and tired. “I know. This has gone too far. We can’t let her do this to him anymore.”

The next morning, Ben sat down with Lucas, explaining everything in simple terms. He told him that his Aunt Emily was sick, that sometimes her illness made her act in ways that confused people, and that his real mom wasn’t coming back.

Lucas was quiet, looking down at his little hands, and I could tell he was struggling to understand. “But she told me she’s my mom. You can’t send her away, Dad,” he murmured, his eyes filling with tears.

Ben hugged him tightly, his voice thick with emotion. “I know, buddy. But that was her way of trying to help you feel close to your mom. She loves you, just like we do. And we’re going to help her get better.”

Later that day, Ben arranged for Emily to see a doctor. The process was painful; she protested, even cried, but Ben stayed firm, explaining that she needed help. Once she was admitted to the hospital, the house felt quieter, almost lighter.

Lucas struggled at first. He’d ask about Emily, sometimes wondering if she was coming back. But gradually, he began to understand that what he’d believed wasn’t real, and he started to make peace with the truth.

Through it all, Ben and I grew closer, supporting each other as we helped Lucas cope.

It wasn’t the journey I expected when I married him, but somehow, we’d come out stronger on the other side, bound together not just by love, but by everything we’d faced as a family.

If you loved this story, here’s another one for you: When Ruth entered her in-laws’ house, she sensed something was wrong. The unsettling silence and her father-in-law’s strange text were just the beginning. But when she followed a mysterious noise to the attic and unlocked the door, nothing could have prepared her for what she found.
