The JetBlue flight had just landed in Florida when the bodies were discovered

Authorities have launched an investigation after two dead bodies were found on a plane shortly after it landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

The JetBlue flight had taken off from JFK airport in New York on Monday (January 6), and landed in Florida that evening.

According to FlightAware.com, the flight took off shortly before 8pm local time and arrived in Florida at 11:10pm, approximately 28 minutes later than scheduled.

After the plane was on the ground at the airport, two bodies were found inside the landing gear of the aircraft.

News of the discovery was confirmed by a spokesperson for JetBlue, who said in a statement: “On Monday evening, January 6, at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLHIA), two individuals were found in the landing gear compartment of one of our aircraft during the routine post-flight maintenance inspection. Tragically, both individuals were deceased.”

The names of the two people found on the plane have not yet been confirmed, with the spokesperson saying that their identities and the circumstances surrounding how they ended up in the landing gear of the plane are still under investigation.

“This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred,” the spokesperson added.

Images from the scene shared by Florida news reporter Alex Browning showed a Broward County Sheriff’s van outside the airport in the wake of the incident.

According to CBS News, a medical examiner also joined sheriff’s deputies at the scene, which was centered around the airport’s Terminal 3 – the terminal home to JetBlue.

The plane had had flown out of Chicago and landed in Hawaii on Christmas Eve, after which officials found a body in the ‘wheel well of the main landing gears’.

“The wheel well was only accessible from outside of the aircraft,” United Airlines said in a statement, while a spokesperson for the Maui Police Department told Hawaii News Now authorities had launched an investigation to determine how the person had come to be inside the compartment.

Maui police said no additional information about the United Airlines discovery was immediately available.

Two death row inmates refusing to sign Joe Biden's deal to have their execution revoked for shocking reason

Shannon Agofsky and Len Davis were among 37 inmates whose sentences were commuted

Two death row inmates with the chance to have their death sentences commuted by President Joe Biden have decided not to sign the paperwork to move ahead with the offer.

Whose sentences did Joe Biden commute?

Shannon Agofsky and Len Davis are among a group of 37 federal inmates whose death sentences were commuted by the POTUS just before Christmas, when he announced that the prisoners would have their sentences reclassified to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Biden’s decision came as part of his belief that America must ‘stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level, except in cases of terrorism and hate-motivated mass murder’.

Following the commutation order, inmates must sign paperwork accepting Biden’s decision – but Agofsky and Davis are refusing to do so.

Why are Agofsky and Davis in prison?

Agofsky was originally imprisoned after being convicted of the 1989 murder of bank president Dan Short. In 2001, while incarcerated, he was convicted in the death of a fellow inmate, and a jury recommended a death sentence.

Davis, a former New Orleans police officer, received a death sentence after being convicted in the 1994 murder of Kim Groves, who had filed a complaint accusing him of beating a teenager in her neighborhood.

Prosecutors claimed Davis had hired a drug dealer to kill Groves, and he was charged with violating Groves’ civil rights.

Now the two prisoners, who are inmates at the U.S. Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, have filed emergency motions to seek an injunction which would block Biden’s commutations, arguing it could actually put them at a legal disadvantage.

The reasoning behind their decision comes from the scrutiny that is typically given to death penalties in comparison to life sentences, because both Agofsky and Davis are hoping to appeal their cases for major reasons: they have claimed they’re innocent.

Why do Agofsky and Davis want to keep their death sentences?

As both Agofsky and Davis hope to appeal their sentences, remaining on death row would allow their cases to undergo a legal process known as heightened scrutiny, in which courts look for errors in the cases to ensure no mistakes have been made before an inmate’s death.

Agofsky’s motion explains: “To commute his sentence now, while the defendant has active litigation in court, is to strip him of the protection of heightened scrutiny. This constitutes an undue burden, and leaves the defendant in a position of fundamental unfairness, which would decimate his pending appellate procedures.”

“The defendant never requested commutation. The defendant never filed for commutation,” the filing continues. “The defendant does not want commutation, and refused to sign the papers offered with the commutation.”

Meanwhile, Davis argued that he has ‘always maintained that having a death sentence would draw attention to the overwhelming misconduct’ he has claimed took place during his case.

Davis has claimed there was 'misconduct' in his case (WWLTV)

Are Agofsky and Davis innocent?

Agofsky, who is now 53 years old, has hit back on both his original murder charge and the conviction of the 2001 in his motion.

As well as disputing the 2001 death, he is trying to ‘establish his innocence in the original case for which he was incarcerated’.

Davis’ motion states that he has ‘always maintained his innocence and argued that federal court had no jurisdiction to try him for civil rights offenses’.

Will the inmates be able to get out of Biden’s order?

Though there is paperwork involved in the commutations, Dan Kobil, a professor of constitutional law at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, told NBC News that having a death sentence restored is challenging.

In 1927, a Supreme Court ruling determined that ‘the convict’s consent is not required’ for a president to grant reprieves and pardons.

As they fight to keep their death sentences, Davis and Agofsky have asked a judge to appoint them a co-counsel.

Blackhead Removal: 9 Steps to Get Rid of Blackheads on the Face

Blackhead Removal: 9 Steps to Get Rid of Blackheads on the Face

Blackheads, also known as comedones, are one of the most common skin disorders. They are caused mainly by increased sebum production, which ca clog the pores, especially in the face, neck and torso. The accumulation of sebum and increased oiliness can also cause skin inflammation and infection, leading to the appearance of acne. For this reason, it is essential to start treating blackheads early and with a specialized professional.

Some care, such as washing the skin with cold water and mild soap, exfoliating and using natural products to reduce skin oil, such as green clay, are recommended to achieve healthier and more uniform skin. These methods can help to remove blackheads and prevent the appearance of pimples.

Cosmetic treatments, such as deep skin cleansing, chemical or crystal peeling and microneedling, also help to reduce the appearance of blackheads. They are normally indicated when daily care is not enough. It is essential that these procedures are recommended by a dermatologist or a professional specializing in advanced cosmetics.

How to remove blackheads at home

To remove blackheads, it is important to be very careful, as incorrect techniques can lead to skin damage.

To remove blackheads at home, you can follow these steps:

  1. Wash your face with cold or warm water and neutral soap.
  2. Exfoliate the skin, using light circular movements for about 3 minutes. Then rinse the exfoliant from the skin with warm water.
  3. Apply steam to the skin for about 5 minutes, repeating this technique until the skin is very moist.
  4. Wrap the tips of your index fingers with sterile gauze and, using light movements, bring your fingers close to the blackhead you want to remove.
  5. Apply light pressure to the blackhead, without causing redness or irritation to the skin.
  6. Carry out the procedure a maximum of 2 times on each blackhead you want to eliminate
  7. Wash your face with warm or cold water to eliminate the sebum present on the skin.
  8. Apply a tonic to the treated area with a cotton pad.
  9. Apply specific sunscreen for each skin type.

If it is not possible to remove all the sebum present in the blackheads, discontinue the procedure and seek help from a qualified professional, who will perform the appropriate technique.

You should not try to remove or squeeze blackheads with your nails, as this can damage the skin and lead to infection, as nails are typically a source of dirt and impurities.

Essential daily care for blackheads

Regular, daily care is essential to combat the appearance of blackheads and keep your skin hydrated and healthy for longer. You should consider the following to prevent and treat blackheads:

1. Wash your face daily

Washing your face every day is essential for reducing skin oiliness and eliminate blackheads more quickly. This can also help to unclog pores, and also prevent new blackheads and pimples.

To clean your skin correctly, use running water and a mild facial soap or cleansing lotion, specific to your skin type. Apply to the skin using gentle circular movements with your fingertips for about 3 minutes. Then, rinse off the excess water with a soft towel, without rubbing the area.

It is important to be careful not to wash your face more than twice a day, as this can dry out the skin and lead to more oil production, causing more blackheads, inflammation or skin rashes.

2. Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliation is essential to eliminate dead cells, present in the first layer of the skin. It also helps to reduce oiliness and sebum production. The small granules that are found in exfoliants, or natura exfoliants, like brown sugar, coffee grounds or salt, stimulate blood circulation and deeply clean the layers of the skin, eliminating blackheads more quickly. It is recommended to exfoliate at least once a week.

Also recommended: Sugar Scrubs (and Other Natural Exfoliant Recipes to Make at Home)tuasaude.com/en/sugar-scrubIngredients:

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, salt or coffee grounds
  • 1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil

How to prepare: mix the ingredients in a clean, dry container until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Then, apply to the area to be treated with light circular movements for around 5 minutes. It is important to pay attention to the most sensitive areas of the skin, especially below the eyes, to prevent injuries. Finally, remove the exfoliant with cold or warm water and pat dry with a soft towel. You can perform this exfoliation at least once a week.

3. Apply steam to the skin

When steam is applied to the skin, it causes the pores to dilate. This humidifies the skin, increases blood circulation and facilitates the absorption of the active ingredients present in creams and masks. All these factors play a role in the removal of existing blackheads, and also prevents the appearance of new ones.

To perform the technique, pour boiling water into a basin, and hover your face over it, without touching the water. You can additionally cover your head and the bowl with a towel. This vaporization must be done for 5 minutes, before starting to remove blackheads.

4. Apply a green clay mask

Green clay is a powerful cleansing agent for combination or oily skin, as it has antioxidant properties. It helps to eliminate toxins present in the outermost layer of the skin, in addition to gradually removing impurities and excess oil that could cause new blackheads.

A green clay mask can be made by mixing 2 tablespoons of clay with ½ cup of filtered water or iced chamomile tea, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Apply the mask to the area you want to treat and leave it to act for around 30 minutes. Then, rinse off with cold water.

This mask should be applied once a week.

5. Apply a relaxing aloe mask

Aloe vera is a great option for oily skin with blackheads. It has nourishing, regenerating and moisturizing properties, helping to remove oil and impurities and preventing the appearance of new blackheads.

Also recommended: Aloe Vera: 12 Health Benefits, Side Effects & Contraindicationstuasaude.com/en/aloe-vera

How to prepare: To make this mask, remove the gel from the inside of the aloe leaf and apply it directly to the skin to be treated. Leave it to act for 30 minutes. You can add 5 drops of chamomile oil, lavender oil or rosehip oil, as essential oils help to soothe and regenerate the skin. Then remove the mask with cold or warm water, and pat dry with a soft towel. Because of its relaxing effect on the skin, this mask can be done right after the clay mask, once a week.

6. Use a natural toner

A toner is a substance that helps eliminate deeper impurities from the skin, which have not been removed by water, soap or cleansing lotions. They also reduce oiliness and help control the skin’s pH, which can play a role in removing blackheads.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of iced chamomile tea
  • 5 drops of tea tree oil

How to prepare: mix the ingredients in a clean, dry container and then, using a cotton pad, wipe over the skin until all dirt is removed. You do not need to wash the skin with soap and water afterwards. This natural astringent can be used not only to eliminate impurities, but also to remove makeup at the end of the day.

7. Apply sunscreen daily

It is essential to apply sunscreen daily to avoid blemishes on the skin from acne scars. Sunscreen helps to protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays, which can cause skin aging, oiliness and increased sebum production.

Hey, we all have our off days – or perhaps Netflix’s Squid Game decided to go a bit more meta with the second season?

Netflix’s Squid Game has been ‘exposed’ online for a mistake within the second season.

Look, we all have our off days, and it happens – take Game of Thrones’ Starbucks cup accident for example. Or perhaps Netflix was simply going for a more meta approach when it came to the second season of the hit South Korean survival game?

Alas, while some fans have been honing in on various hidden details, and another ‘fascinating’ spot which ‘totally changes’ your perception of the first episode, others have apparently been taking to social media over a mishap which occurs in episode seven of the second season – let’s give the team a break, eh?

Warning: Spoilers for Squid Game season two ahead.

It didn’t take long for the second season of Squid Game to launch viewers back into the Games. Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is forced to head back into the arena after his plan to confront the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) and put an end to the games once and for all goes askew.

Many fans of the show have already binge-watched their way through the entire second season since it first dropped on December 26, 2024.

However, what many may not have spotted – which other eagle-eyed viewers have – is a slight error in episode seven, occurring at the 22:39 mark – as one Twitter user has so kindly pointed out in a post to the platform yesterday (January 6).

The editor's face when they spot the mistake (Netflix)

The clip shows the moment players are fighting back against the Pink Guards – also known as Pink Soldiers, or Masked Men.

It’s a frantic and tense scene – guns firing left, right and center, guards falling and others fleeing for cover.

Yet one observant viewer noticed a person in the background who looks like they don’t quite belong in the scene – a camera person.

The user wrote: “Lmaooooooo squid game got exposed.”

And it’s not taken long for others to weigh in.

“Tired Editor detected. He / she must be exhausted during the shift. Terribly sorry for that,” a second added.

A third commented: “His job be okay, if you hadn’t pointed it out no one would have noticed.”

“POV: When you’re so immersed in Squid Games but suddenly see a cameraman casually chilling mid-scene,” a fourth wrote.

Best Ways to Remove Blackheads from Your face at Home with Its Prevention Tips

Best Ways to Remove Blackheads from Your face at Home with Its Prevention Tips

  • Clogged pores that are exposed to air can oxidise and turn black, which is what causes blackheads.
  • Blackheads can be avoided with a good skincare regimen that includes washing, exfoliating, and using non-comedogenic products.
  • Blackheads can be successfully removed with at-home treatments like steam, masks, and blackhead extractor instruments.
  • For severe situations, there are professional treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and manual extraction.
  • Avoiding heavy makeup, eating a balanced diet, and utilizing the right skincare products are examples of preventive methods.

What are Blackheads?

Blackheads, which frequently can present themselves as tiny, dark spots on the skin, are a common skincare issue that many individuals encounter. They usually appear on the nose, forehead, and chin, places where the skin is more likely to be oily. These bothersome imperfections are a form of acne that arises from clogged hair follicles filled with a mixture of dead skin cells and oil. The dark appearance of blackheads is a result of their open nature, which allows the contained debris to oxidize when exposed to air, setting them apart from whiteheads.

Blackheads are a moderate form of acne, but they can still be difficult to manage. If left untreated, they can cause irritation and enlarged pores, in addition to altering the appearance of the skin. Regular washing and exfoliation are two good skin care habits that can help stop and lessen the appearance of blackheads. A balanced diet and the use of non-comedogenic products can also help manage these recalcitrant skin issues. A dermatologist’s advice may also offer specialized ways to deal with blackheads and enhance the general health of your skin.

How do Blackheads Form?

Blackheads arise due to the accumulation of dead skin cells and sebum, an oily material secreted by the sebaceous glands in hair follicles. Oxidation results from the clogged pore being exposed to air while it is left open. The blocked substance turns black as a result of this oxidation, hence the term “blackhead”.

Understanding Blackheads

It’s crucial to comprehend blackheads in order to treat and avoid them. Blackheads are not brought on by dirt; rather, they are the result of oil oxidation and dead skin cells stuck in pores. This means that overwashing or using harsh scrubs can actually make blackheads worse by irritating the skin and causing an increase in oil production.

What Causes Blackheads?

Blackhead formation is caused by a number of factors:

  • Excess Oil Production: Pore blockages may result from sebaceous glands that are overactive.
  • Dead Skin Cells: Improper shedding of dead skin cells can cause them to build up and clog pores.
  • Hormonal Changes: Changes in hormones, especially during puberty, menstruation, or when taking certain medications, can increase oil production.
  • Specific Skincare Items: Too thick or oily of a product might clog pores.
  • Diet: Blackheads and acne may be exacerbated by a diet heavy in dairy and sugar.
  • Genetics: Because of the makeup of their skin, some people are genetically susceptible to developing more blackheads than others.

How to Remove Blackheads From Nose at Home

Blackhead removal at home is safe when done with the appropriate methods and supplies:

  • Steam your face: Steam facilitates pore opening, which makes blackhead removal simpler. For around ten minutes, place a towel over your head and bend over a bowl of boiling water.
  • Employ a blackhead extractor tool: This method can help get rid of blackheads without harming the skin. After each usage, thoroughly clean the instrument.
  • Regularly exfoliate: Use a mild exfoliant containing glycolic or salicylic acid to remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores.
  • Use pore strips: These can temporarily remove blackheads in the nose. Apply the strip after wetting your nose, allow it to dry, and then peel it off.
  • Clay masks: These can be used to remove impurities from the skin and absorb extra oil.

Masks for Blackhead Removal

Blackhead removal masks are skincare treatments that unclog pores and cleanse the face of excess oil and pollutants to help get rid of blackheads. Usually, they have chemicals like salicylic acid, charcoal, or clay that tighten pores and suck out impurities, leaving skin smoother and clearer.

Using these masks regularly can help prevent blackheads from developing in the future. Let’s explore some of the blackhead removal masks.

  • Charcoal Mask: Charcoal masks are a great way to remove oil and debris from pores. Your nose will benefit from a charcoal mask applied, let to dry, and then peeled off.
  • Clay Mask: Clay masks help absorb extra oil and clear up pores, especially ones that contain kaolin clay or bentonite.
  • Honey and Cinnamon Mask: Combine honey and cinnamon to make a sticky paste. Apply it to your nose, then rinse it off after ten to fifteen minutes. Cinnamon enhances blood circulation, and honey provides antimicrobial qualities.

Professional Blackhead Removal Techniques

Blackhead removal can be accomplished professionally using various methods, including chemical peels, laser therapy, vacuum suction, and manual extraction. However, to reduce the possibility of scarring or skin injury, these procedures should only be carried out by qualified experts.

It is advised to get advice from a dermatologist or esthetician to decide the best course of action for specific skin types and issues.

  • Chemical Peels: Salicylic or glycolic acid-based chemical peels can help exfoliate skin and get rid of blackheads.
  • Microdermabrasion: This treatment uses a specialized tool to exfoliate the epidermis, removing dead skin cells and clogged pores.
  • Professional Extraction: Using sterile instruments, dermatologists or qualified estheticians can physically remove blackheads.

How To Prevent Blackheads From Nose

To prevent blackheads on the nose, regularly cleanse the skin with a gentle cleanser, exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, use oil-free products, avoid touching the face frequently, and keep the pores clean by using non-comedogenic products.

Additionally, regularly moisturize and use products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help prevent blackheads from forming. Here are some methods for the prevention of blackheads.

  • Cleanse Twice a Day: To get rid of extra oil and grime, use a mild cleanser.
  • Avoid Heavy Makeup: Opt for non-comedogenic makeup to prevent pore clogging.
  • Employ Products Without Oil: Choose skincare products that are non-comedogenic and oil-free.
  • Exfoliate Regularly: Regularly exfoliate your skin to get rid of dead skin cells. Use exfoliating products.
  • Hydrate: Skin, even oily ones, requires hydration. Use a moisturizer that is light and oil-free.
  • Refrain from Touching Your Face: Contact with your face can cause clogged pores by transferring oil and grime from your hands to your face.
  • Keep Up a Healthy Diet: Drink lots of water and cut back on sweets and dairy products.

My Neighbor Kept ‘Accidentally’ Taking My Packages – So I Left Her a Special Christmas Gift

My packages kept vanishing, and my sweet neighbor Linda always seemed to “find” them. I tried to be patient, but when my limited-edition Christmas ornament went missing, I’d had enough. So, I left her a special holiday gift she’d never forget.

There’s something infuriating about seeing your name on a package and realizing someone else opened it. But when it happens over and over? You start plotting.

I moved to this neighborhood for peace, not package wars. But thanks to Linda, that’s exactly what I got.

When I moved into this neighborhood three months ago, I thought it was the fresh start I needed. My eight-year-old son Mike and I had been through a lot.

Parting ways with my husband had been hard, but that’s a story for another time.

We found a cozy little house on a quiet street, not too far from a park. It was peaceful, safe, and perfect for us.

Every morning, Mike and I would walk to the park, enjoying the crisp air and the friendly atmosphere. I remember thinking, This is it. This is where we’ll finally be happy.

And we were. For a while.

The house was great, the neighbors seemed nice, and life was starting to feel normal again. Until I met Linda.

Linda lives next door, and she seemed lovely at first. The day we moved in, she was at my doorstep with a tray of cookies and that big, neighborly smile you see in holiday commercials.

“Welcome to the neighborhood!” she chirped. “I’m Linda, from next door. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

“Thank you so much!” I said, genuinely touched by her warmth. “It’s been a crazy week, but we’re finally settling in.”

Linda beamed. “Moving is always stressful, but you’ll love it here. And if you ever need a hand, I’m just a knock away.”

She was chatty and sweet, and I appreciated having someone to talk to in those first few days. She even offered to keep an eye on the house when I was out.

“You know, packages can go missing if they sit out too long,” she mentioned casually. “I’m happy to grab them for you if I see anything on your porch.”

It sounded like a thoughtful gesture at the time.

At first, everything seemed normal. But then things got weird.

It started with a missing package. An educational toy I’d ordered for Mike. I remember coming home from work and not seeing it on the porch, even though the delivery confirmation said it had been delivered.

Maybe it got delayed, I thought.

But when it didn’t show up the next day, I decided to ask Linda if she’d seen anything.

“Hey, Linda,” I said, knocking on her door.

She answered with that same wide smile. “Meredith! How are you?”

“I’m good,” I said, a little sheepishly. “I’m wondering, uh, did you happen to see a package on my porch yesterday? It was a toy for Mike, and it’s gone missing.”

Linda’s expression didn’t falter.

“Oh! That? I think the delivery guy must’ve mixed things up and left it at my door by mistake.” She stepped back into the house and returned with my package.

It was OPENED.

“I just opened it and was wondering who it might be for,” she said with a light laugh, handing it to me.

I stared at her, confused. The package had my name and address clearly printed on it. There was no way she didn’t know it wasn’t hers.

“Thanks,” I said, forcing a smile. “Next time, feel free to just leave it on my porch.”

“Oh, of course!” she chirped. “I’m always happy to help.”

I walked away, trying to shake off the weird feeling. But deep down, something wasn’t sitting right.

And then it happened again.

And again.

Each time, Linda would return my packages opened, with the same innocent giggle and excuse, “Oh, sweetie, I thought it was mine!”

At first, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. But after the third time? I knew better. Linda wasn’t confused. She was stealing them.

Initially, the packages she took were small. It was annoying, but not something that would make me completely lose it.

But then, bigger and more expensive items started disappearing.

The first major one was a pair of boots I’d ordered. I was beyond excited about them. Winter was creeping in, and I’d been saving up for weeks to get myself something nice.

When the tracking app showed them as delivered, I rushed home from work, only to find… nothing.

I knew where to go.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked on Linda’s door. This time, I wasn’t going to be so polite.

“Hey, Meredith!” she greeted me with her usual bubbly smile. “What can I do for you?”

“Hi, Linda. I’m just wondering… did you see another package on my porch today? A box with boots?”

Linda tilted her head like she was deep in thought. “Hmm… Let me check!”

She disappeared inside, and I could hear her rummaging around. A few minutes later, she reappeared, holding my box.

Of course, it was already opened.

“I didn’t realize this wasn’t for me!” she said with a giggle. “I thought it was that jacket I ordered.”

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm.

“Right,” I nodded. “Well, thanks for bringing it back.”

“Oh, no problem, sweetie! You know, these delivery guys really need to be more careful. They mix things up all the time!”

I walked away, fuming. At this point, it was obvious she was lying. She knew what she was doing. And she didn’t care.

But the final straw came a few days before Christmas.

I’d ordered a limited-edition ornament for my mom. She collects Christmas ornaments, and this one was special. It was hand-painted and hard to find. When the tracking said it had been delivered, I rushed home, excited to wrap it up and surprise her.

But the porch was empty.

Furious, I checked the tracking details again. Delivered to front porch at 12:34 p.m. I was home by 1:00.

There was no way it could’ve disappeared that fast.

I stormed over to Linda’s house, not bothering to hide my frustration.

She opened the door, smiling as if nothing was wrong. “Oh, hi there! Can I help you?”

“Have you seen a package for me today?” I asked, struggling to keep my voice calm.

Linda feigned confusion for a moment. “Oh! Let me check.”

She returned with the box in hand, already opened. The ornament inside was unwrapped, as if she’d been admiring it.

“I didn’t realize this wasn’t for me!” she giggled.

That was it. Her smug little smile told me she wasn’t sorry at all.

I decided right then and there.

If Linda loved stealing my packages, I’d give her one she’d never forget.

Linda had crossed the line one too many times. It was time to teach her a lesson.

So, I came up with the perfect plan. A glitter bomb.

After putting Mike to bed one night, I sat at my laptop and ordered a spring-loaded glitter bomb kit. Ironically, it was one of the few packages Linda hadn’t intercepted.

When it arrived, I couldn’t stop grinning as I put it together.

The kit came with a spring mechanism that would shoot glitter everywhere the moment the box was opened.

And to add a personal touch, I included a note inside that read, “If you’re reading this, you’re a thief. Next time, I’ll call the police. Happy holidays!”

To make the package look even more enticing, I wrapped it in festive paper and wrote my name and address clearly on the front. Then, I placed it on my porch in plain view.

Now, all I had to do was wait.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long.

A few hours later, I spotted Linda casually strolling down the street, pretending to admire the Christmas lights. She slowed down as she passed my house, glanced around to make sure no one was watching, and then swiped the package.

I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. Gotcha.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of screaming.

I peeked out my window and nearly burst out laughing.

Linda was standing on her porch, covered head to toe in glitter. Her hair sparkled like a disco ball, and her clothes were ruined. She looked like she’d been dipped in glue and rolled in a craft store.

She was furiously shaking the box, trying to get the glitter off, but it was no use. Glitter sticks to everything.

Moments later, she stormed over to my house, clutching the box like it was a live grenade.

“HOW DARE YOU!” she yelled, pounding on my door.

I opened it with my sweetest smile. “Oh, Linda! Did you accidentally take my package again?”

“You think this is funny?” she spat, shaking the glitter-covered box at me.

I crossed my arms. “Funny? No. Satisfying? Absolutely.”

She stammered, clearly struggling to come up with an excuse. But I didn’t give her the chance.

“You know, Linda, if you don’t want surprises like this, maybe you should stop stealing my packages,” I said, keeping my tone calm and pleasant. “Consider this a holiday warning. Next time, I will call the police.”

She wanted to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth. Finally, she turned on her heel and stormed back to her house.

Word spread quickly around the neighborhood.

Turns out, I wasn’t the only one Linda had been targeting. Several other neighbors came forward, sharing similar stories of “lost packages” that magically reappeared after they confronted her.

Some of them had been too polite or nervous to call her out, but after my glitter stunt, they felt emboldened.

As for me? I haven’t had a single package go missing since.

Sometimes, a little sparkle is all it takes to set things right. Happy holidays indeed.

Robert Loren Bacon was last seen by his family on December 27 at a resort in Michigan

A 52-year-old father who went missing during a family holiday in Michigan has since been found having passed away.

On December 27, Robert Loren Bacon disappeared from where he and his family were staying at the Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth.

He was reported missing to police on December 30 and search efforts were immediately launched.

Bacon’s ex-wife Melissa McLenna told WNEM on December 27 Bacon arrived at the hotel at around 6:40pm, and ‘went to the hotel room to change out of his shoes and slides’.

She says he was going to meet one of their daughters – aged 13 and 15 – down by the pool area, however, Bacon had reportedly told one of his children he needed to ‘move his car’ first ‘because he was on the further entrance from where their room was’.

McLenna also told Centre Daily Times Bacon said he was ‘going to his car to get something’ too.

But the dad never came back, last seen around 7:20pm.

McLenna continued: “From there, they have video showing him going to the fun center after leaving the hotel room, never coming back to his car. They don’t have any video showing he exited the building. However, there are exits without cameras.”

Bacon’s car remained parked in the lot of the Inn on January 1 and when police searched the vehicle, McLenna says nothing seemed out of place.

Bacon’s phone had been turned off since December 27 and it’s reported he had his keys, wallet and phone on him.

However, police have since confirmed they’ve discovered the dad and confirmed his passing.

On January 4, the Frankenmuth Police Department confirmed divers discovered Bacon’s body after a five day search aided by Frankenmuth Fire Department Drone/ATV Unit, Saginaw County 911, Michigan State Police Technical Services Unit, Lapeer County Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police K-9 unit assigned to MSP Dive Team Unit, Southeast Michigan Dive Group, the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Medical Response and the Saginaw County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The father’s body was found during a search of the Cass River near Heritage Park, police say, as reported by MLive.

The police statement reads: “The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning, but a final determination will be made by the Saginaw County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Bacon’s death is ongoing.”

McLenna said in a post to Facebook: “I have no words to describe how we feel we are so sad I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped look for Robert thank you to all that prayed for us and that are continuing to pray for us.”

Sahir House – which The Vivienne raised awareness of in their final post to Instagram – said: “For more information, please email us at info@sahir.org.uk or call 0151 673 0192. Let’s continue to support one another, just as The Vivienne would have wanted.”

The Matlock star stared straight down the lens as she tore up her speech

Kathy Bates wasted no time in ripping up her acceptance speech after she lost out on an award at the 2025 Golden Globes.

The 76-year-old actor, who is known for her work in titles like Titanic, Misery, American Horror Story and The Office, was nominated at the Golden Globes in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama for her role in the CBS series Matlock.

Bates faced some tough competition as she went up against Emma D’Arcy for House of the Dragon and Keira Knightley for Black Doves, as well as Maya Erskine, Keri Russell and Anna Sawai, but the actor clearly had hope as she’d apparently scripted an acceptance speech.

Bates made this clear to viewers watching the show, but not because she went up on stage and read it out.

Instead, Bates showed off her speech when the winner of the award was revealed, and she learned she’d lost out to Sawai for her performance in Shōgun.

Cameras at the ceremony showed the reactions of the nominees as Sawai was announced as the winner, and while all five remaining actors broke into applause, Bates added a humorous – if a little awkward – flare to her reaction.

Just as the camera went to cut away from her, the actor could be seen tearing up a piece of paper – presumably her speech – and dropping it to the ground, all the while looking directly at the lens.

Viewers managed to catch Bates’ reaction and couldn’t help call attention to it online, with one person writing: “Kathy Bates ripping up her speech was peak legend energy!”

“Kathy Bates tearing up her acceptance speech after losing the Golden Globe? Classic! Love her spirit!,” another fan wrote on Twitter, as a third commented: “Kathy Bates ripping up her prepared awards speech on camera – so real.”

Though Bates didn’t manage to secure the win for her role, she’s previously spoken about the impact Matlock has had on her life, especially as an actor in her mid-70s.

Speaking to CBS last year, she said: “All of the sudden, I got this script, and I thought, ‘Oh wow. I’ve got to do it.’

“That was also a big deal for me about being invisible. There’s so many women my age who really do feel invisible, and these years are difficult to put that despair at bay to get through everyday. I think if I wasn’t doing this show, I might feel the same way. But it’s all changed overnight.”

Sawai’s win in the category was one of many for Shōgun, which also scored awards for Best Television Series — Drama and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Drama Series.
