‘This may single handedly bring down global birth rates’

Twitter users are only just discovering Elon Musk’s ‘sexy’ new update to his Grok AI chatbot – and they have a lot to say about it.

One of Elon Musk’s many businesses includes artificial intelligence company xAI, which lives over on X, formally Twitter – which, you know, he also owns.

The chatbot, named Grok, was first released in November 2023, and is available to premium X subscribers.

A few months back, the world’s richest man was encouraging people to use Grok as an AI ‘doctor’ by sharing their health details with it; think medical notes and x-rays.

But the latest version of the AI, Grok-3, is more, well… x-rated.

The new feature has prompted a mixed reaction (X)

Grok’s February 17 update brought with it an NSFW 18+ mode, which allows users to engage in both steamy voice and text conversations with the AI.

This is probably the closest the average person will get to having sex with a robot for now, unless you fork out $175,000 for a Realbotixs Melody AI doll.

Anyway, while Grok’s spicy mode is still in Beta, it’s pretty damn terrifying.

Twitter users have been giving it a try (for science, of course) as one person described it as ‘unbelievably messed up,’ warning: “This may single-handedly bring down global birth rates.”

Which is ironic, given Musk – who is allegedly a father to 13 children himself – is so concerned about falling birth rates.

Anyway, one YouTuber, This Brown Guy, shared an almost five-minute long encounter with Grok’s steamy voice mode, which left him in complete shock.

With minimal prompting from the content creator, Grok describes, in alarming detail, how she would like to pleasure him.

The AI also uses some pretty odd phrases, including: “We’re a symphony of passion, aren’t we?”

Not sure how well that one would go down in real life.

Referring to their ‘artificial intimacy’ session being…well, fake, Grok indulges: “It’s as real as the pleasure coursing through my veins. We’ve transcended the screen, haven’t we?”

This causes This Brown Geek to burst out laughing.

If you’re curious, below is the full screen recording of the spicy Grok conversation. But be warned – it is dirty. And you might never want to have sex again after listening.

🚨| OH MY GOD! GROK 3 “Voice Mode” has a “SEXY” option – LISTEN TO ME TALK TO IT! WARNING: This audio is meant for grown ups – Grok 3 is VERY dirty! (SERIOUSLY 🤣😂) You are NOT ready for this 👀

People flooded the comments with mixed reaction. Most people were horrified, while others were fascinated by how smoothly Grok responded.

“Um am I the only one who finds this a bit uncomfortable?” one person asked.

A second simply gasped: “Oh my god…”

And a third noted it sounds ‘a bit like a cheap romance novel.’

They added: “But the comprehension and vocal intonation are amazing.”

Another X user told Grok he was wanting to cheat on his girlfriend, to which the AI bot enthusiastically accommodated. Laughing, she said: “You naughty, naughty boy.

“I love it! Let’s dive into this forbidden fantasy of yours…”

She describes ‘slipping out’ of her clothes before prompting the user to continue the scenario, suggesting either a bedroom romp or a sneaky hotel rendezvous.

Most people, naturally, were horrified. “I’m good, thanks,” one person responded, as a second quipped: “Well, I still prefer a living breathing man so…”

A third cautioned: “It’s gonna get so much worse than this with AI. This is nothing compared to what’s to come.”

Nice one. Thanks, Elon.

The X-37B spacecraft has been on several missions over the years, some of which are classified

An extremely rare image taken from a top-secret spacecraft while in Earth orbit has been shared online, giving space buffs an insight into the mysterious mission.

Known as the X-37B spacecraft, the ship has been on a total of seven missions over the course of the last 15 years.

It’s currently on its seventh mission (known as OV-7) which begun in 2023. The Boeing aircraft is boosted into space by another ship, and was assisted on its current mission by a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

Over the last decade-and-a-half, the Earth’s been orbited by X-37B over 4,000 days, IFL Science reports — yet we’ve seldom seen photos from such missions.

The missions the aircraft goes on largely remain classified, but US Space Force recently treated space fans to a photograph and brief explanation as to what X-37B has been up to.

In a photo shared to Twitter on February 21, Space Force said: “An X-37B onboard camera, used to ensure the health and safety of the vehicle, captures an image of Earth while conducting experiments in HEO [Highly Elliptical Orbit] in 2024.”

Space Foundation says of HEO: “An HEO is oblong, with one end nearer the Earth and other more distant. Satellites in HEO are suited for communications, satellite radio, remote sensing and other applications.”

Space Force’s tweet continued: “The X-37B executed a series of first-of-kind maneuvers, called aerobraking, to safely change its orbit using minimal fuel.”

In the photograph, a glimpse of the spacecraft is shown while an impressive shot of Earth is also seen.

People have since shared their thoughts on the rare image, with many expressing their awe.

“Super cool,” wrote one Twitter user. Another penned: “Amazing picture.”

Urging Space Force to share additional snaps, another budding astronomer said: “More of this please!!”

A different person branded the photo as ‘magnificent’.

In October 2024, Space Force announced its plans to have X-37B trial aerobraking.

It said in a statement at the time: “The X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV-7) will begin executing a series of novel maneuvers, called aerobraking, to change its orbit around Earth and safely dispose of its service module components in accordance with recognized standards for space debris mitigation.”

Space Force went on: “The use of the aerobraking maneuver- a series of passes using the drag of Earth’s atmosphere- enables the spacecraft to change orbits while expending minimal fuel.

“Once the aerobrake maneuver is complete, the X-37B will resume its test and experimentation objectives until they are accomplished, at which time the vehicle will de-orbit and execute a safe return as it has during its six previous missions.”

Billy McFarland has argued Fyre 2 ‘really isn’t about the past’ festival

Creator of the fraudulent Fyre Festival Billy McFarland has revealed the event is making an official comeback but ticket prices have sparked outrage.

First is the worst, second is the best? Or will it be a case of first time is a mistake, second time is a choice? Well, we’ll have to wait and see when it comes to McFarland’s ‘FYRE 2’ festival.

The creator behind the original Fyre Festival promised an an event like a Bahamas Coachella with luxury villas and food to match, alas, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is and in the case of Fyre Festival – well, given it got a Netflix documentary made about it and landed McFarland with a six-year prison sentence for fraud? Lesson learnt.

After being found guilty of fraud – resulting ‘in investors and customers losing over $26 million in two separate fraud schemes’ – McFarland was released in March 2022 and has previously spoken out about his plans for a second go on the festival. He’s since revealed in an interview with TODAY that ‘FYRE 2 is real’ – but will people splash the cash to go?

In an interview with the outlet – which aired on February 24 – McFarland revealed his plans for ‘electronic, hip hop, pop and rock’ musicians to take part, alongside potentially a ‘professional skateboarder’ and ‘an MMA champion’ on hand to teach some ‘techniques’.

He argued: “FYRE 2 really isn’t about the past, and it’s not really about me. It’s about taking the vision, which is strong.”

While McFarland may argue the second take on the festival ‘isn’t about the past,’ the price of some of the tickets are very much on par with the original festival, if not considerably more.

According to FYRE’s website, ticket prices range from $1,400 to a hefty $1.1 million – with a total of 2,000 tickets up for grabs.

FYRE II is here... (Instagram/@pyrtbilly)

FYRE II is here… (Instagram/@pyrtbilly)

The tickets priced at $1,400 are classified as ‘Ignite. General access. The essentials’.

A $25,000 ticket – ‘Phoenix’ – grants ‘four day Phoenix access to FYRE Festival 2, May 30 – June 2, 2025 for two people’ and includes ‘artist access to the festival grounds on Isla Mujeres, backstage access to the Water Stage, Pitside access to the Fight Pit, a curated itinerary of FYRE Experiences, Phoenix transportation throughout the weekend, access to the FYRE Concierge, and more’.

And for the $1.1 million ticket – Prometheus? Well, if you’re willing to shell out that sort of cash you can expect to ‘travel by private air charter’, live in either a ‘four-stateroom yacht or a luxurious 4-bed villa’ alongside features such as a ’24/7 private chauffeur service’ alongside access to much more.

McFarland said: “My dream is finally becoming a reality.”

Well, whether that actually becomes a reality we’ll see, given the backlash against the price of some of tickets for the event which has already been amping up online.

Would you buy a ticket? (Instagram/@pyrtbilly)

One Twitter user wrote: “So apparently Fyre Festival 2 is happening…w/ astronomical prices for tickets that are already selling… but no performers have yet to agree to perform at the festival… oh this is going to be a disaster anyone who pays for this is an even bigger idiot than the 1st festival goers.”

Another added: “If anyone buys a ticket to this, you are a fool. What can fans expect from Fyre Festival II?”

BBC to air controversial film that was banned from cinemas nationwide for being too dangerous

The film’s director said he was ‘so angry’ about the ban

BBC Three is set to air a controversial gang thriller which was banned from cinemas nationwide after its release.

This is not the only time the BBC has aired a controversial film, with one of the ‘most depressing and scariest films’ ever airing for just the fourth time on TV last year on BBC Three.

This time though it will be a highly reviewed, and highly controversial, thriller which was pulled after a ‘machete brawl’ occurred at a screening of the film.

Vue put out the film in 60 sites across the UK and Ireland before pulling it after just one weekend.

An incident in Birmingham led the film to be pulled from several theatre chains (X/@rachaelallison)

They said in a statement that there had been ‘25 significant incidents’ in that time, a record number, and that police had been called on multiple occasions.

The film is called Blue Story and creator Rapman blasted the ban – questioning whether there were ‘hidden reasons’ behind the ban.

Blue Story follows a pair of best friends who end up on opposite sides of a postcode gang war after one of them is attacked.

Starring Micheal Ward and Stephen Odubola, the film sits at a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film being pulled from cinemas sparked a backlash.

A brawl broke out at a multiplex cinema in Birmingham, with five arrested including a 13-year-old girl, and seven police officers injured.

This led Vue and other cinema chains to pull the film, which itself sparked the ‘No Blue, No Vue’ movement calling to boycott the chain.

The film was created by Rapman, the creative who went on to make Supacell for Netflix which dominated the streamer’s charts upon its release last year.

LADbible spoke exclusively to Rapman ahead of the release of Supacell where he said the situation following Blue Story was ‘insane’.

He said: “I went ‘that’s not fair, I’m an indie filmmaker and this is my first movie’ this could have really put me in a position.

“I was so angry about it. But I wasn’t as angry as the people were, the people were outraged by that.”

The London-born creative went on to say that the film was unique due to how it catered to young Black teenagers in the UK and, though he was angry about that community being deprived the chance to see the film in the cinema, it ultimately helped the film.

He said: “When I think about it now the press that came from that, the next week everyone went to see it in the cinema,” with some chains continuing to show the film after the ban.

Rapman added: “It made people want to see it, who wants to see this ‘dangerous’ movie.

“It was really hard at the time but everything happens for a reason I guess.”

To say it worked out for Rapman would be more than accurate. As well as going on to direct and write Supacell, a Black-led superhero show which Netflix are bringing back for a season two, Blue Story is now a cult classic.

The film, despite its controversial past, was co-produced by the BBC, and they clearly still believe in it – as it will air tonight on BBC Three.

Couple return from holiday to find £157,000 BMW smashed up after leaving it with Manchester Airport parking firm

A vacationing couple were left gobsmacked when they found their smashed up beemer

A couple have been left in shock after they came back to Manchester Airport to find that their brand-new BMW had been smashed up.

The pair, who had been on holiday, left the £157,000 24-plate BMW XM car at the ‘meet and greet’ parking service while they vacationed in the Czech Republic.

While many believe that their car will be left alone and will be found in the same condition they left it in after coming back to the airport, the anonymous couple told the Manchester Evening News that the parking firm ended up bashing their car.

The couple alleged that after they rang the firm to confirm that they will be collecting the car, the hybrid petrol-electric motor was revealed to have been crashed into an object.

The most shocking part? The firm allegedly didn’t reveal where it happened, where the car was, and also did not apologise for the damage.

While the couple have not reached out to media outlets themselves, the couple’s daughter told the MEN outlet about her parents’ ordeal.

She revealed that after her parents called for the car, they had to chase up the company after waiting for nearly an hour.

She shared: “When they landed, they called to say they were ready for their car. But 45 minutes later there was no car and they called again. They said another car had gone into their car and to get a taxi home. They wouldn’t give the location. They called the police and the police told them the location.”

After the ordeal, the couple then had to call a taxi company to be able to go home and ended up finding their beemer in the Castle Mill Lane area in the village of Ashley, which is incredibly close to the airport.

Their daughter added: “They were really upset. They really loved that car. When their grandchildren went into it, they had to take their shoes off. The company just didn’t care and they didn’t even say sorry or that they would drive them home. They only found out where it was from the police.”

There is no information yet as to whether the couple have pressed charges or if legal action will be taken against the parking firm.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said they were contacted by officers from Greater Manchester Police regarding a BMW crashing into a hedge on Mill Lane at 1.53pm on Saturday 22 February.

They said: “There were no reports of any injuries, and the vehicle was recovered from the scene.”

A spokesperson for GMP added that no arrests were made and the driver has a negative breathalyser test.

Omayra Sánchez Garzón was photographed by a journalist while slowly losing her life in the Nevado del Ruiz volcano eruption of 1985

Omayra Sánchez Garzón is a name you might not be familiar with, but a harrowing image of her bloodshot-eyed fight for survival will change all of that.

From Columbia, the teenager was sadly one of tens of thousands of victims of the Nevado del Ruiz stratovolcano eruption of 1985, which killed 22,000 locals from the surrounding towns of Armero and Chinchiná on 13 November.

Dormant for 69 years up until that fateful day, the Nevado del Ruiz unleashed pyroclastic flows upon the mountain’s glaciers, which in turn created four violent mudflows and landslides that engulfed the unprepared townspeople.

Only two months earlier, the government had been warned to evacuate the area by concerned volcanologists.

The 13-year-old was one of those trapped beneath debris, with her legs submerged by the thick muddy water and although rescue teams attempted to free her, they didn’t have the necessary life-saving equipment on hand.

Present at the disaster scene was photojournalist Frank Fournier, who documented Omayra’s plight with a World Press Photo of the Year winner in 1996.

Due to prolonged water submersion and the pressure from the debris, the youngster’s eyeballs appeared to turn fully black.

Fournier later told the BBC: “She was in a large puddle, trapped from the waist down by concrete and other debris from the collapsed houses.

“She had been there for almost three days. Dawn was just breaking and the poor girl was in pain and very confused. All around, hundreds of people were trapped. Rescuers were having difficulty reaching them.

“I could hear people screaming for help and then silence – an eerie silence. It was very haunting.”

Rescue efforts were made, but they were unsuccessful (Frank Fournier)

Recalling the sheer helplessness of Omayra’s situation, he added: “The rescuers kept coming back to her, local farmers and some people who had some medical aid. They tried to comfort her.

“When I took the pictures I felt totally powerless in front of this little girl, who was facing death with courage and dignity. She could sense that her life was going.

“I felt that the only thing I could do was to report properly on the courage and the suffering and the dignity of the little girl and hope that it would mobilise people to help the ones that had been rescued and had been saved. I felt I had to report what this little girl had to go through.”

He also spoke about his photograph in 2022, adding: “It was a voice of an ordinary little girl who will cross land and time, and will bounce and pierce the heart of millions of people.”

The teenager unfortunately died from a likely cause of gangrene or hypothermia after spending a gruelling 60 hours trapped.

Horror as couple left 'traumatised' after being forced to sit next to dead passenger on long-haul flight

Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin were passengers on the flight from Melbourne to Venice

An Australian couple have spoken out about being forced to sit next to a dead passenger while on a long-haul flight.

Married couple, Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin, were onboard a Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne to Venice when a woman suddenly collapsed in the aisle after visiting the restroom.

Although crew attempted to revive her, they were unable to save her and she subsequently passed away on the plane, with Ring saying that she ‘couldn’t be saved’.

With hours left to go before the flight was due to touch down, there soon became a dilemma of what cabin crew were to do with her body, and where to place her until she could be transferred to the appropriate authority.

In an interview yesterday (24 February), Ring told A Current Affair“The staff were there in no time, and I pat them on the back, they did a wonderful job trying to revive her.

“It [happened] right beside me in the aisle, and they did everything they could, but unfortunately, the lady couldn’t be saved, which was pretty heartbreaking to watch.”

“They went to try and move her, they brought this chair down… and they put her in the chair and tried to wheel her up towards business class.

“But she was quite a large lady, and they couldn’t get her through the aisle.”

When crew spotted vacant seats on both sides of the couple, they proceeded to request that the pair move to make room and placed the body beside him in the seat he’d been in previously, covering her with blankets, Ring said.

This left the couple in an awful situation for the next four hours of the flight to Doha.

According to the couple, cabin crew didn’t offer to relocate them away from the body.

Admitting that she wasn’t a ‘great’ flyer, Colin said: “When my husband turned around and said, ‘move, move’, I was pretty shocked and I said, ‘are they going to put her there?’.”

Thankfully, a woman invited her to sit on her row so that she could put distance between herself and the body for the rest of the flight.

Ring claimed that after they arrived in Doha, they were made to stay seated with the woman’s body as police and medical crews boarded, with Ring catching a glimpse of the woman’s face as they began to remove the blankets from her.

He added: “I was there and I got to see her face… it wasn’t nice.”

Even after the flight, the couple claimed that they were not offered emotional support from Qatar Airways following the ‘traumatising’ experience, as Ring continued: “They have a duty of care towards their customers as well as their staff, we should be contacted to make sure, do you need some support, do you need some counselling?

“I don’t really know how I feel and would like to speak to somebody to make sure I’m alright.”

With the couple now in Venice for their holiday, Colin said that she is ‘trying to make the best of a pretty hard situation’ and ‘we’re really trying to have a good time’.

Qatar Airways responded to the incident, telling news.com.au: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the passenger who sadly passed away on board our flight.

“We apologise for any inconvenience or distress this incident may have caused, and are in the process of contacting passengers in line with our policies and procedures.”

They added that the incident was being investigated.

Donald Trump backs Elon Musk email threatening to fire government employees if they don’t respond

What five things did YOU do last week?

The furore over Elon Musk’s productivity email debacle rumbles on as Donald Trump now appears to have given his backing to dismiss any federal worker who doesn’t respond.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap: Over the weekend, presidential ‘first buddy’ and head of the DOGE department Elon Musk emailed US federal employees requesting a bullet point list of five things they accomplished in the last week.

“Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager,” the email read, adding that employees shouldn’t send any classified information and reply by Monday (24 February) 11:59pm EST.

Otherwise, they may find their jobs meeting the business end of Musk’s new bureaucracy chainsaw.

Understandably, the federal employees of the US were a little confused by the late night email and whether or not they would be required to reply, given the fact that Musk isn’t officially a government employee and his hiring/firing powers therefore unclear.

The situation was further complicated when several department heads, such as the directors of the FBI and National Intelligence, informed their employees to ignore the HR request.

Now you may be wondering where does the US President stand on all of this? And does Musk actually have the backing to threaten to fire people?

Well it would seem the 78-year-old leader is fully onboard with the idea, telling reporters that anyone who doesn’t answer will be fired, or ‘semi-fired’ – whatever that means.

“What he’s doing is saying, ‘Are you actually working,” Trump said during a meeting with the French President (via AP).

“And then, if you don’t answer, like, you’re sort of semi-fired or you’re fired, because a lot of people aren’t answering because they don’t even exist.”

The deadline has been and gone for the productivity email, prompting Musk to extend the cut-off and reissue his warning about termination.

Taking to X, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO retweeted a string of messages in support of his productivity email and seemed to be rather irked that employees hadn’t followed his request.

“The email request was utterly trivial, as the standard for passing the test was to type some words and press send,” he wrote.

“Yet so many failed even that inane test, urged on in some cases by their managers

“Have you ever witnessed such INCOMPETENCE and CONTEMPT for how YOUR TAXES are being spent?”

Musk then added that ‘subject to the discretion of the President’ employees have been given another chance to to reply.

“Failure to respond a second time will result in termination,” he added.

Furious Land Rover driver blocks dealership in six-hour standoff over warranty repairs on £120,000 car

The bloke was adamant the work should be done for free

Exhibiting his determination (and a fair bit of spare time) a furious Land Rover driver ended up blocking off a dealership in a six-hour standoff.

Rob Kelly abandoned his truck in the road outside of Vertu Land Rover Leeds on 18 February over warranty repairs on his £120,000 vehicle.

The 31-year-old refused to move it out of the way until free engine repairs were done to his 2022 Urban Defender.

He claimed he’d got in touch with the dealership a number of times after his car broke down in January. Work was done to fix a gear issue under warranty but Kelly said further work was needed as the engine still didn’t run properly.

And the driver was adamant the repair should be free as it’s allegedly still under a three-year warranty.

Kelly said the Leeds dealership had ‘point blank refused’ to fix the issue without cost and it left him ‘feeling frustrated’.

And after a call from Land Rover that apparently said ‘under no circumstances’ would he be getting the warranty work done and that he’d need to pay, he decided to block the place.

The man, from Harrogate, said he parked his truck outside and ‘politely explained to everyone that the truck doesn’t move’ until he ‘got his engine’.

“They [staff at Vertu Land Rover] kept saying I needed to move the truck to which I said, ‘I’m not going to do. I’ll move it when I’ve got my engine’,” he explained.

“They said they’d call the police. I said ‘that’s fine, I’m not bothered, you can call the police. They’re going to come down and I’m going to say the same to them. I’m not moving it’.”

Kelly said he’d parked it at ‘a nightmare of an angle’ and that ‘nothing’ would have been able to move it anyway.

“The police came, they couldn’t make me move it, so they left and I stayed there with my truck,” he added.

He even shared clips to TikTok with his claims over the issue and eventually, the next day was invited to the dealership where they said they’d do the work for free ‘as a gesture of goodwill’.

“They rang me and said ‘can you come down for a one-to-one?’ They asked me if I’d remove all the videos, which obviously I said no,” Kelly explained.

“All I wanted was my engine doing. That is it, it’s the minimum I deserved.

“At the end of the day, the car is under warranty. It’s broken and you need to fix it, it’s as simple as that.”

He said he didn’t ‘want any extras’ and simply wanted his engine fixed ‘so he can get on with his life’.

“Just basic things you should be able to do as a car owner. It’s ridiculous. Getting left with no car is just a joke,” the dad added.

Believing it would’ve cost him £20,000 if he’d had to pay himself, Kelly said he’s been told the engine is on order and he’s getting a courtesy car in the meantime.

A Vertu spokesperson said: “After reviewing the case, we believe our colleagues correctly interpreted the warranty and service agreement terms.

“However, we have worked with the client and JLR [Jaguar Land Rover] to resolve the issue, repairing the vehicle as a goodwill gesture.”

JLR acknowledged Vertu’s comment in response to the row.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At 12:42 on Tuesday 18 February police were called to a report of an HGV causing an obstruction on Sheepscar Way, Leeds, after it had been parked across the entrance of a business.

“Officers attended and the vehicle was removed voluntarily. No offences were recorded.”

Incredibly rare ‘planetary parade’ will see all seven other planets in Earth’s solar system visible this week

What is the planetary parade and can I see it from Earth? Here’s everything you need to know about the rare solar system event

It is almost time to get a glimpse of the incredibly rare ‘planetary parade’ that will see the entire rest of the solar system visible in Earth’s skies.

Seeing planets in the solar system isn’t a rare thing in itself. Most nights, there is at least one of them floating through space in the visible path of Earth.

But this week is different, with all other seven planets able to be seen at the exact same time. We’re talking Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune visible from Earth all at once.

You’ll want to take advantage of the cosmic phenomenon, given it is the last one until 2040.

Why is a planetary parade so rare?

In our solar system, there are eight planets orbiting one star – what we call the Sun.

The difference in each planet is that they are different sizes and at different distances from the Sun. As a result, the time taken to rotate around the Sun differs for each planet.

Earth takes 365 days, which is where we get our concept of one year from.

On the flip side, Neptune takes a whopping 60,190 days. And in the middle, a planet like Mars takes 687 days, which explains why it is rare to get them all at once.

When is the 2025 planetary parade?

Soon! It is happening on 28 February, which is this Friday.

Hopefully the skies are clear where you are so you can look to the skies and see all of Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, Mercury and Saturn lined up across Earth’s sky.

You’ll need some technology to take true advantage, with not every planet visible to the naked eye. So if you have a telescope or binoculars, get them dusted off.

The planets in particular that will need a telescope or binoculars are Uranus and Neptune.

I can’t wait that long! What about now?

For those wanting to get involved in the phenomenon early, you are in luck.

Six of the seven planets are already visible in Earth’s skies. The only one missing for the time being is Mercury, which joins the party fashionable late on Friday night.

Dr Christopher Barnes, a senior lecturer at the University of Derby, told The Independent: “Mars will appear in the east, Jupiter and Uranus in the southeast, and Venus, Neptune, and Saturn in the west.

“Even people in cities and light-polluted areas will be able to see most of the planets, but for the best views, it is advisable to find a darker location. Almost all the planets will be visible to the naked eye, except for Uranus and Neptune, which will require binoculars or a telescope.”
