Glee star Naya Rivera passed away in 2020

Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has opened up about her death nearly five years on.

The Glee star died saving her and Dorsey’s then four-year-old son, Josey from drowning in July, 2020. The pair’s boat had drifted away when they were swimming in Lake Piru in California, with Josey at risk of going under.

Her body was discovered a few days after, with an incident report into Rivera’s death stated that she had drowned due to the exhaustion from pushing her son back onto the boat (via The Hollywood Reporter).

In the interview with PEOPLE, Dorsey opened up about various heartbreaking aspects to the tragic incident.

The actor, who married Rivera in 2014 before getting divorced in 2018, said that her death was something he still deals with.

He said: “When it happened, I just found myself shaking my head, like, ‘I can’t believe she’s gone. It’s still so surreal every day.”

One particular aspect, however, was especially heartbreaking.

Dorsey spoke about how Josey has struggled with one thing from the day, saying: “Something he’s said over and over is that he was trying to find a life raft, and there was a rope, but there was a big spider on the rope, and he was too scared to throw it. I keep reassuring him, ‘Buddy, that rope wasn’t going to be long enough’.”

The heartbreaking revelation was shared along with Rivera’s final words, with Dorsey saying: “He said that the last thing she said was his name, and then she went under, and he didn’t see her anymore.

“It just rocks my world that he had to witness her last moments.”

Rivera’s death lead to a wrongful death lawsuit against Ventura County, which was filed by Rivera’s estate via Dorsey on behalf of their son in 2022.

According to Sky News, they claimed that the boat she had rented did not have the proper safety equipment or features, calling her death ‘utterly preventable’.

The lawsuit also highlighted the lake’s ‘deadly history’, citing that over two dozen people had died since 1959, and claimed there was not ‘a single sign anywhere’ which warned ‘of the lake’s strong currents’, according to PEOPLE.

Ventura County responded by saying her death was not their fault and that she had declined to wear a lifejacket, which they say had been put on the boat.

Ultimately the lawsuit was settled, with lawyer, Amjad M Khan, saying in a statement: “Through this settlement, Josey will receive just compensation for having to endure the drowning of his beloved mother at Lake Piru.

“Though the tragic loss of Josey’s mother can never truly be overcome, we are very pleased that the monetary settlement will significantly assist Josey with his life beyond this tragedy.”

Though this is Dorsey’s first sit down interview since Rivera’s death, he has posted multiple statements to Instagram and other social media in the time since.

He said in one post: “This is so unfair… there’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts. I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it.

“You were just here…We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair.”

Naya Rivera’s Son Tried to Save Her with a Rope While She Was Drowning – His Dad Reveals What Stopped Him

New details have emerged about Naya Rivera’s tragic drowning at Lake Piru in 2020. Her young son, Josey, made a brave attempt to save her—but something unexpected got in his way. His father, Ryan Dorsey, recently shared what truly happened that heartbreaking day.

Naya Rivera’s death on July 8, 2020, left many unanswered questions. Known for her role as Santana Lopez on “Glee,” Naya had taken her son on a boating trip at Lake Piru. When the boat was found adrift hours later with Josey alone and asleep, panic set in.

Authorities launched a large-scale search, but it would take five days to recover her body. While Josey survived, his memories of that day gradually surfaced. Recently, his father revealed new details about those terrifying moments—how his son wanted to save his mother, and what stopped him.

Naya’s Final Moments

It started as a joyful afternoon at Lake Piru. Naya rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon outing with her 4-year-old son, Josey, at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. According to the investigation, mother and son swam together after counting from one to three and jumping into the water.

But as they swam, the boat—unanchored and not equipped with flotation devices—began drifting away. Naya noticed the boat moving farther from them and told Josey to swim back. He recalled how he grabbed onto “the tanks” on the side of the boat and pulling himself around until he could climb back aboard.

Naya, a 33-year-old actress, helped him onto the boat, but she never made it back herself. According to the incident report, Naya likely drowned from exhaustion while trying to get Josey to safety. He later recalled seeing his mother raise her arm, shouting “help” before disappearing beneath the surface.

Although she was in good health, reports noted that Naya had a history of vertigo, which could have worsened in the water, making it difficult for her to stay afloat. What Josey did next shows how quick-thinking and brave he was for a child so young. But despite his courage, he wasn’t able to help his mom.

Josey’s Brave Attempt to Save His Mom

When his mom didn’t resurface, Josey started looking for a way to help. He found a rope on the boat and thought he could throw it to her, but he couldn’t. According to his father, Ryan Dorsey, Josey hesitated when he saw a large spider on the rope.

Too scared to touch it, he froze. “Something he’s said over and over is that he was trying to find a life raft,” Ryan said. “I keep reassuring him, ‘Buddy, that rope wasn’t going to be long enough.'” Even though his dad comforts him, Josey still struggles with guilt over that moment.

Josey later recalled that before they entered the water, his mom counted down with him, “One, two, three.” The next time he heard her voice, she was calling out his name in distress. Naya’s body was discovered five days later.

The events of that day left a deep mark on Josey. As time passed, he began sharing more details about what happened at the lake. “He said that the last thing she said was his name, and then she went under, and he didn’t see her anymore,” Ryan shared. He admitted that what his son witnessed that day “just rocks my world.”

The heartbreaking reality of Josey witnessing his mother’s final moments is something Ryan said he will always carry with him. While his son’s resilience is undeniable, Ryan admits the experience changed everything about how he approaches fatherhood.

Life After the Tragedy

In the days following Naya’s death, Ryan focused on helping Josey adjust to life without his mother. He took his son back to his home state of West Virginia to escape the constant attention in Los Angeles. It was a chance for them to find some peace and adjust to life without Naya.

When they returned to California, Naya’s younger sister, Nickayla, moved in to help care for Josey. She stayed for about a year, providing the stability he needed during a turbulent time. Ryan credited her for being a huge support, saying, “She held it down and kept that consistency.”

For Ryan, reminders of Naya are everywhere. “So many songs make me think about her,” he said, noting how music can instantly bring back memories. And then there’s Josey—talkative, curious, and determined—just like his mother. “He’s definitely his mama’s son,” Ryan commented. “He doesn’t know a stranger. He’s such a happy kid.”

Honoring Naya’s Legacy

Although life has moved forward, Naya’s memory remains a constant presence for her loved ones. Now 9 years old, Josey has grown into a confident boy who still carries his mother’s spirit. On what would have been her 38th birthday, Ryan shared a touching tribute on Instagram.

“Thoughts every day about how it went wrong,” he wrote. “I shake my head often still in disbelief. They say time heals all, but all is not grief.” For those who’ve followed the family’s tragic story, Josey’s strength and resilience have left a deep impression.

Social media users often comment on how much he reminds them of his mother. “He looks just like Naya,” one person wrote. Others called him “a stunning young man” and said, “His mama is shining down from heaven and so proud.”

When news broke that Josey had tried to throw a rope to save his mom, the emotional responses were overwhelming. “My heart is broken for him,” one commenter shared. “I hope he doesn’t feel like this is his fault because it’s not at all.”

Another wrote, “That poor baby… while there is no way to fully heal from watching your mom die, I’m praying that he’s doing better.” One user added, “My stomach hurt reading this. That poor baby.”

To help Josey stay connected to his mother, Ryan created a memory book filled with photos and stories about Naya. The book sits by Josey’s bed, and during the holidays, he often looks through it, reflecting on the time they shared.

“It’s hard trying to explain things that you can’t really make sense of, no matter what age you are,” Ryan admitted. Music is another way they honor her. Songs she loved—and those she sang on “Glee”—bring back vivid memories of happier times.

Among them are Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” and Post Malone’s “Sunflower,” which Ryan said always reminds him of her. He and Naya tied the knot in 2014 and were married for four years before finalizing their divorce in 2018.

According to court documents, the former couple agreed to share joint custody of Josey and waived spousal support. Nearly five years after Naya’s tragic death, her story remains one of heartbreak, bravery, and resilience. For Josey and Ryan, the loss was life-changing.

For Ryan, the message he shared in his tribute to Naya Rivera says it best, “Be kind to the ones you love. You’ll never know when you give your last hug.”

Hollywood legend nears deal to be cast as Dumbledore in new Harry Potter series

Fans have had very little details about the new series

It might feel like fans have been waiting forever (and still have an age to go) for the next instalment of the Wizarding World.

But rumours and talks have helped fuel the anticipation as it continues to build up for the new Harry Potter series.

And while very little about the TV run has actually been confirmed so far, a Hollywood legend is said to be nearing a deal to be cast as Professor Albus Dumbledore.

Following in the footsteps of Richard Harris, Jude Law, and Michael Gambon, it seems John Lithgow will be next to play the Hogwarts head teacher.

Known for a long, varying list of roles such as playing Dick Solomon in 3rd Rock from the Sun, Arthur Mitchell in Dexter, and voicing Lord Farquaad in Shrek, he could next be the most powerful wizard.

The two-time Golden Globe winner is reportedly in final negotiations to play Dumbledore, sources have told Deadline.

When approached for comment on this pretty exciting news, HBO declined to comment but said in a statement to LADbible: “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumour and speculation.

“As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalise deals.”

And while we still don’t quite know for sure who will be in the series, we can be pretty safe in saying Daniel Radcliffe won’t be reprising his role as an 11-year-old Harry Potter.

The star hasn’t totally rejected the idea making an appearance himself, he hasn’t been particularly optimistic about the chances.

The TV run of the popular stories is apparently designed to span over a decade and comes from creator Francesca Gardiner and director/executive producer Mark Mylod.

When it was originally announced, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, Casey Bloys called it a ‘faithful adaptation’ of the novels which will ‘dive deep into each of the iconic books’.

Harry Potter TV series rumoured cast

Again, we still don’t really know who is going to play who in the series, but with Lithgow seeming pretty likely right now, there’s a list of stars rumoured to join him.

Bad Sisters star and co-creator Sharon Horgan is rumoured to play Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall, while Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein has been mentioned for Rubeus Hagrid. As for Harry Potter’s evil aunt Petunia, Brit Pheobe Waller-Bridge may be filling those shoes.

Meanwhile, it’s also been doing the rounds that Paapa Essiedu could step into the role of Professor Severus Snape in the upcoming series. Sources confirmed this possibility with Variety, but it is said The Lazarus Project actor is yet to formally accept the role.

Serena Williams’ Husband Reacts to Her Super Bowl Dance Years After Responding to Drake’s ‘Groupie’ Diss

Serena Williams brought unexpected star power to this year’s Super Bowl halftime show with a memorable dance. The move instantly sparked buzz online, with many celebrities sharing their excitement. But as many celebrate her cameo, they also recall the tense history between her, Drake, and her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

During Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance, Serena Williams surprisingly joined the dancers. The moment quickly gained attention and brought back memories of her similar dance that sparked controversy over a decade ago.

It also reminded many of Serena’s complicated history with rapper Drake, who famously jabbed her husband, Alexis Ohanian, in 2022. Her husband’s response at the time drew widespread praise with his latest reaction showing whose side he’s on.

Serena’s Super Bowl Dance Sparks Celebrity Praise

Serena’s cameo with her dancing the crip walk quickly drew attention, with several celebrities praising her online. Her sister Venus Williams proudly commented, “You did that!!!” Tamar Braxton wrote, “Ate that sis [sic],” while John Legend reacted with fire emojis. Jamie Foxx penned, “Legend.” Lincoln, another commenter, posted, “We see you.”

The crip walk wasn’t just a dance — it was a meaningful reference for Serena. She first performed it after winning gold at the 2012 Olympics, a move that received mixed reactions at the time. Some criticized it as inappropriate, while others saw it as a bold expression of her identity.

Over the years, this moment has symbolized her deep connection to her Compton roots and hip-hop culture. However, her latest performance held a different significance.

Drake’s 2022 Diss: ‘Serena, Your Husband’s a Groupie’

For some, Serena’s dance brought to mind a different public moment involving her and rapper Drake. In 2022, Drake took a jab at her husband, Alexis, in his song “Middle of the Ocean,” rapping, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie.”

The lyric seemed to allude to the couple’s high-profile relationship and hinted at lingering tension from the past. Drake and Serena’s connection dates back to 2011. They were rumored to be dating at the time.

The speculation returned in 2015 after being spotted at several events, including Serena’s tennis matches. While they never confirmed their relationship, Drake referenced her multiple times in his music, notably in his 2013 song “Worst Behavior.”

The diss in “Middle of the Ocean” marked a sharp turn, directly referencing Serena’s marriage to Alexis, with whom she has two daughters. Though the line surprised fans, Alexis’ response turned the situation into a triumphant moment for the tech entrepreneur.

Alexis’ 2022 Response

Alexis wasted no time responding to Drake’s diss. A few days after the song premiered, he shared a photo of himself with his daughter watching Serena play.

His caption read, “The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”

His response subtly reclaimed the term “groupie,” turning it into a badge of honor. Alexis’ words made it clear that he wasn’t bothered by Drake’s lyrics but had fully embraced his role as Serena’s biggest supporter.

Alexis’ Super Bowl Reaction

Fast forward to 2025, and Alexis once again supported Serena during the Super Bowl. After her crip walk, his reaction was brief but positive, posting on social media, “Pretty fantastic halftime show.”

Though simple, his comment was a subtle nod to Serena’s standout moment and reflected the same supportive attitude he displayed in 2022. Interestingly, Serena’s dance accompanied Kendrick’s Grammy-winning diss track, “Not Like Us.”

Kendrick’s Feud with Drake Takes Center Stage

The song “Not Like Us” wasn’t just a hit. It was the final chapter in Kendrick’s highly publicized feud with Drake. Their rivalry had simmered for years, with both rappers exchanging increasingly personal diss tracks in 2023.

The track topped the Billboard charts and earned Kendrick five Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year. It became one of his most successful songs, further fueled by controversy after Drake filed a lawsuit against Kendrick’s record label. Despite the legal battle, the song’s popularity still grew.

Serena’s Super Bowl appearance was also a bold reminder of her cultural influence, while Alexis’ quiet support reinforced his role as her biggest fan. Whether facing public jabs or celebrating her victories, Alexis remains proudly by her side.

Why Donald Trump Left So Early and ‘The Worst Part of the Super Bowl’

The sitting U.S. president made history by attending the Super Bowl. One aspect left him less than pleased despite the excitement, and he shared what soured the experience.

Donald Trump attended Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans but departed before the fourth quarter. While his decision to leave sparked curiosity, he later shared what stood out as “the worst part of the Super Bowl.”

The president’s departure may have left questions unanswered, but the match delivered a decisive outcome. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs, securing a 40-22 victory.

Fans at home had multiple viewing options, some at no cost, while those in attendance paid a premium. The most affordable seats — located in the upper levels of the Superdome — started at $2,920 on StubHub and $3,000 on Ticketmaster, with some priced as high as $5,000.

Ticket packages sold by the NFL began at $6,700, offering perks such as meet-and-greets, tailgate parties, and complimentary food and drinks. On average, a ticket cost $8,076 in the weeks leading up to the match, according to CBS Sports.

The most expensive seats, near the Chiefs’ sideline, ranged from $8,650 to $12,000, though prices had peaked at $22,663 just a week earlier.

While the Eagles’ triumph and ticket prices captured attention, the halftime show became another major talking point. Kendrick Lamar’s performance drew widespread interest, especially amid speculation surrounding his feud with Drake.

Trump’s attendance also made history, as he became the first sitting president to be present at a Super Bowl. He was photographed standing for the national anthem alongside New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson and his daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Despite his historic attendance, Trump’s early departure did not go unnoticed. The businessman and former 45th president left before the end, sparking a debate across social media.

One X user remarked, “Donald Trump just left the Super Bowl early after watching KC get walloped after saying he was rooting for them. So much winning.”

Another referenced Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce’s comments about playing before the president, “Imagine saying ‘it’s an honor’ for Trump to watch you play at the Super Bowl only for him to leave early cause y’all was getting beat so bad. LOOOOSSEEERRRRRR [sic].”

Others shared similar sentiments, with one posting, “thinking about travis saying it’s an honor to have trump at the super bowl just for him to leave halfway through the game because they were playing so badly [sic].”

One user argued“President Trump gives reporters enough to write 100 stories a day—you don’t need to misrepresent what happened. He was always slated to leave early.”

Another noted the logistics of his exit, “Imagine the security nightmare for Secret Service if he stayed until the end and left at the same time as everyone else [sic].” A separate post called out Mail Online’s description of Trump’s departure as “mysterious,” dismissing the characterization as exaggerated.

While opinions varied on the president’s early exit, some criticized the cost to taxpayers for attending only part of the game. However, records show that his White House schedule had him departing at 8:05 p.m. Central Time, meaning his early departure was planned in advance.

The decision was part of a carefully coordinated operation that allowed him to become the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. Ensuring the safety of a high-profile figure in a massive venue poses significant challenges, which is why presidents often avoid large-scale public events.

When they do attend, security measures from the U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement can disrupt normal proceedings.

To minimize logistical hurdles, it is not uncommon for presidents to leave before an event concludes. Otherwise, stadium security would need to hold back an audience of nearly 80,000 until the president had safely exited.

While Trump’s early departure drew attention, he found a rule change on the field the most frustrating. After the game, he criticized the NFL’s new kickoff rules.

Implemented this season for player safety, the updated rule stops the kicking team from advancing until the receiving team touches the ball. While aimed at reducing collisions, it has drawn criticism — including from Trump, who reaffirmed his stance post-game.

“The worst part of the Super Bowl, by far, was watching the Kickoff where, as the ball is sailing through the air, the entire field is frozen, stiff. College Football does not do it, and won’t! Whose idea was it to ruin the Game?” he wrote in a Truth Social post.

In previous years, the collision often caused injuries on special teams. Now, kickoff units start five yards apart between the receiving team’s 35- and 30-yard lines and can’t move until the ball is caught.

According to the NFL’s operations website, the rule was introduced “to address the lowest kickoff return rate in NFL history during the 2023 season and an unacceptable injury rate on kickoffs.” The Competition Committee will review its renewal in 2025.

However, Trump’s criticism of the new kickoff format is nothing new. During an appearance on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, he voiced his disapproval to hosts Jim Gray and Bill Belichick, “[…] I watch football now and I see that kick off, and it looks weird to me. That thing looks weird, coach,” he told Belichick.

The New Yorker added, “I don’t know. I hope you like it, but I think it hurts the game. I think when you have something good, you don’t change it. I don’t see why it’s safer. Why is it safer? They’re still crashing.” Trump stated that if the coach approved of the rule, he was fine with it.

However, recalling his initial reaction, he questioned the change, saying he had watched it for the first time weeks earlier and thought, “What the hell are they doing to football?” Despite the controversy surrounding the new kickoff rule, the recent game itself made history for other reasons.

Philadelphia’s win marked the second Super Bowl title and stopped the Chiefs from becoming the first team in NFL history to secure a three-peat. The NFL championship delivered more than just a decisive Eagles victory — it became a spectacle of historic moments, off-field drama, and heated debates.

From Trump’s unprecedented attendance and early departure to Taylor Swift’s mixed reception and Kelce’s struggles on the field, the night stirred conversation beyond the final score. Meanwhile, the president’s criticism of the NFL’s new kickoff rule added another layer to the post-game discourse.

While the Eagles celebrated their championship win, the Chiefs fell short of making history, and the reactions surrounding the event ensured that its impact would linger well beyond the game itself.

‘Virgin River’ Star Callum Kerr’s Mother and Stepfather Found Dead in Their Home – Cause of Death Revealed

The actor’s mother and stepfather died under unclear circumstances, though the mayor stated it was “clearly a homicide.”

Callum Kerr’s parents, Andrew and Dawn Searle, were found dead on February 6, by a neighbour in the hamlet of Les Pesquiès, Villefranche-de-Rouergue, in south-west France. The police are conducting further investigations to determine the circumstances that led to their tragic demise.

As for now, post-mortem examinations have revealed that Andrew, 62, passed away from hanging, while Dawn, 56, died from head injuries caused by both blunt and sharp objects. The couple’s bodies were discovered around 12:20 p.m. on February 6, after a neighbor went to check on them when they missed a scheduled dog walk.

The mayor of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Jean-Sébastien Orcibal, told media houses that the cause of death remains unclear. However, he noted that the deaths were “clearly a homicide.”

On the other hand, Nicolas Rigot-Muller, the region’s public prosecutor, confirmed that both had died violent deaths but it was too early to classify either as homicide. Nicolas emphasized that all possibilities remained under investigation.

Jean-Sébastien, who officiated the couple’s wedding, recounted being notified about the discovery of Andrew and Dawn’s bodies around midday. Authorities swiftly secured the property, ensuring no suspects remained inside.

The mayor divulged that the tragedy has left the quiet community in shock as crime in the area is rare. He added that the couple was well-known locally, having embraced life in France by running a gîte and frequently socializing with neighbors.

Andrew, who spoke fluent French, and Dawn were described as warm and sociable, often stopping for conversations during their daily walks with their pedigree dogs.

Prosecutors in Rodez have also spoken out, issuing a statement that read, “The investigation is ongoing, particularly to determine whether the tragedy resulted from a domestic crime followed by suicide or involved a third party.”

The police have also shared more details, noting that Dawn, who was found outside the couple’s home with a severe head injury, was partially undressed. Nearby, a box of jewelry was discovered, but no weapon linked to the wounds was found.

Firefighters responding to the neighbor’s distress call said Andrew was located at the back of the house with no visible defensive injuries. CCTV footage, shared on social media had captured Andrew purchasing lottery tickets just hours before his tragic and violent death.

Now, Toulouse Police is carrying out investigations with further toxicology tests being conducted. Authorities noted that the couple’s home appeared to have been superficially searched, with cash still present in the couple’s bedroom. The area surrounding the couple’s home has been secured as investigations continue.

Still, authorities have not yet opened a criminal case or established a leading theory on the pair’s deaths. Dawn, originally from Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders, and Andrew, who was from England, had been living in Musselburgh near Edinburgh before marrying in France in 2023. Prosecutors stated that they had resided in the Aveyron region for five years.

Andrew’s LinkedIn profile indicates he had a background in financial crime prevention, having worked at companies such as Standard Life and Barclays Bank. Investigators are exploring the possibility that Andrew may have been targeted by someone with a criminal past, due to his previous work. This could be a potential individual he had a role in bringing to justice.

Dawn and Andrew’s family are now in mourning. Dawn is the mother of actor and country musician Callum Kerr, while Andrew is his stepfather. Callum released a statement on Instagram, which reads, “At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother Dawn Searle (nee, Smith, Kerr), with Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle.”

The statement noted that the family is requesting privacy as they grieve and are not available for media interviews or comments. They promised to provide updates later on.

Callum is known for starring in “Virgin River” and “Hollyoaks.” He has also released a couple of country songs. The actor was close to his mom and in 2023, he walked Dawn down the aisle as she married Andrew at a ceremony in France.

He was proud of the special moment, writing, “Not many people can say they walked their own mother down the aisle. What a pleasure. I love you mum. Congrats to Dawn and Andy on their wonderful wedding day and here’s to a tremendous life together for the happy couple 🥂.”

In 2021, Dawn traveled to Austin, Texas, to visit her son. They were thrilled to spend time together, capturing moments as they explored the city. He shared a glimpse of their day on social media, posting two photos with the caption, “Showing this Scottish / French girlie around town #mum 💙.”

Aside from their families, Andrew and Dawn’s neighbors are also mourning their deaths, sharing their shock and sadness. Johan Herault, who runs a local tour company, remembered them as kind and welcoming, with a deep appreciation for nature. “I often spoke with Andrew about fishing in the local area and our dog,” said John.

He added, “My wife was very good friends with Dawn. She is from New Zealand and liked speaking English with them. We often went to see them. They lived near the mayor.”

John also remembered frequent conversations with Andrew about his work in the UK with the police. “He never mentioned that he was in any danger. This is an incredibly calm and peaceful area. It doesn’t make any sense,” he acknowledged.

Another villager described how the entire community was shaken, recalling how the couple had recently visited her farm to buy meat. She expressed her distress over the uncertainty surrounding their deaths, saying it had left her unable to sleep.

Husband speaks out after witnessing wife being killed by hippo

A grieving husband has spoken out after he tragically witnessed his wife being killed by hippos while on a safari.

Lisa Manders, 70, was on a dream trip with her husband, Craig Manders, when she was attacked and killed by the animal, per the Daily Mail.

The mother of three suffered “catastrophic injuries” and died moments after the attack, according to the lawsuit filed against African Portfolio, the company that organized the trip.

Craig Manders expressed his devastation in a statement, criticizing the safari guides for allegedly failing to warn them about the dangers posed by the wild hippo.

“Had we understood the dangers posed by the hippopotamus, we never would have agreed to be in such close contact while on foot,” he said.

He further claimed that Lisa was left exposed to the deadly animal without proper protection.

“The idea that we were unwittingly exposed to such an extreme danger, a danger made even worse by our tour guides leaving Lisa alone on foot with nothing between her and such a deadly animal, is nothing short of astonishing,” he added.

The couple had traveled from the U.S. to Zambia on May 31, 2024, for a ten-day safari. Five days into their trip, they joined a “bush walk” guided by safari staff.

According to the lawsuit, the tour guides “knew or should have known that the close presence of the wild hippopotamus to participants in the Bush Walk posed an immediate and extreme danger, due to the known tendencies of hippopotami to be highly unpredictable, territorial, and aggressive in such circumstances.”

Despite this, the lawsuit alleges that at least one armed guide left the area before the attack, leaving Lisa and others unprotected.

The hippo then charged out of the water, heading straight for Lisa.

“She was unable to escape and the hippopotamus violently attacked her, grabbing her by its mouth, lifting her off the ground, shaking her entire body, and crushing her head and body with its bite,” the lawsuit states.

African Portfolio has denied responsibility, calling Lisa’s death a rare and tragic event.

The lawsuit argues that the Manders were “neither fully aware, nor adequately warned” about the risks of being near the water. It also claims they were “negligently encouraged… to approach the water and stand on the bank” to observe and photograph the hippo.

Craig’s attorneys say the attack was “entirely preventable.”

Slager of Slager Madry LLC told NBC News: “Interacting with the natural world in the wilderness can be an incredibly rich experience. But wilderness guides and tour operators like African Portfolio carry the responsibility to ensure basic safety precautions are taken to ensure customers visiting the African wilderness are not unnecessarily exposed to extreme dangers.”

Lisa is remembered as a loving wife and mother who cherished cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

“Lisa was the best mother and wife anyone could ever hope for,” Craig said.

She is survived by her husband, her children—Casey, Trevor, and Mackenzie—her brother, Paul, and her granddaughter, Lulu.

“Her violent death is a devastating loss not only for our family, but for our community,” Craig added.

Elon Musk’s son joined him alongside Donald Trump in the Oval Office

Elon Musk spoke to reporters in the Oval Office alongside Donald Trump earlier this week, but it was the Twitter owner’s son that created all the headlines.

While Musk was responding to journalists’ questions – in particular about his claim the US government was planning to send $50 million in condoms to the Gaza Strip, which appears to be incorrect – his son, X AE A-XII, was causing chaos.

He was seen interacting with the 47th POTUS in between picking his nose like any four-year-old would do so, but it’s the kid’s conversation with Trump that has a lot of people talking.

Exactly what Musk’s son said to Trump is speculative, but that hasn’t stopped folks on the likes of Twitter and TikTok discussing what might have been said.

One person on the former believes X AE A-XII tells Trump ‘You’re not the president and you need to go away’, which is certainly impressive as I don’t think I even knew what a president was when I was four.

Meanwhile, a fellow Twitter user thinks Musk’s son said ‘I want you to shush your mouth’; certainly brave to say to the president of the United States!

“While Elon didn’t even knew what he was saying, the kid knew it better,” the social media user added.

Perhaps the most outlandish speculation surrounding what X said was detailed in a video uploaded by the user @tizzyent on TikTok.

The claim states Musk’s son told the president ‘I want you to shut your f**king mouth’, which would certainly be the most wild if true.

I think we’d know X AE A-XII’s true thoughts on Trump if this theory were to be true, and it would be the complete opposite of what his father thinks of the president.

There is very much a difference of opinion as to what people online think the four-year-old said.

“Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT ‘please forgive me, I need to pee,'” another person speculated.

As for what Musk was doing in the room while this was going on, he was asked by a reporter to publicly correct a statement he made about sending $50 million worth of condoms to Gaza in the Middle East, when it was actually Gaza in Mozambique.

“How can we make sure that all the statements that you said were correct, so we can trust what you say?” the journalist subsequently asked.

The Tesla founder, who also forefronts the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), replied: “Some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected.

“I mean, you know, we will make mistakes, but we’ll act quickly to correct any mistakes.”

Family who were involved in Tesla car crash shocked after they were forced to pay Elon Musk’s company $23,000 in damages

The family from China has since appealed the decision after two members ended up in hospital

A family who were involved in a car crash when the brakes on their Tesla allegedly failed have since been ordered to pay the electric car maker more than $23,000 in damages.

Zhang Yazhou, from China, was in the passenger seat of a Tesla Model 3 with her father in the driver’s seat as they approached a red light in February 2021.

As any sensible driver would, Zhang said her father stepped on the brakes – only to allegedly realize nothing was happening.

Zhang takes action against Tesla

After traffic police investigated the crash, it was determined that Zhang’s father was at fault because he hadn’t maintained a safe following distance. However, the daughter hit back as she insisted the brakes had malfunctioned.

She filed a complaint with a local market regulator in the hope of getting a refund and compensation, and requested Tesla send her the pre-crash data from the car – but the company refused.

Describing herself as ‘burning with anger’, Zhang put a banner on her car which read ‘Tesla brake failure’ and positioned it in front of the Tesla dealership in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province. She told her family’s story through a bullhorn, but Tesla still refused to hand over the data.

Tesla fights back

In response to Zhang’s lawsuit, Tesla filed a suit of its own claiming that Zhang had damaged the brand by deliberately spreading false information. The company, which is worth $1.05 trillion, asked for 5 million yuan ($684,000) in damages.

Facing pressure from regulators, Tesla released the data from Zhang’s car, but allegedly did so publicly, including Zhang’s vehicle identification number.
