NFL replaces ‘End Racism’ written into end zone with ‘Choose Love’ before Trump’s arrival at Louisiana stadium

Donald Trump is due to give himself a term report on his contentious first three weeks in office at tonight’s Super Bowl while becoming the first sitting president to attend the NFL’s title game between the Philadelphia Eagles and two-time defending championship-winning Kansas City Chiefs.

The US president was expected to arrive at the Caesars Superdome, where the game will be held in New Orleans at 3.50pm, according to the White House, and appear on the field about 4pm when he will be joined by House speaker Mike Johnson and New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson.

Trump arrives in New Orleans as the NFL replaces “End Racism” with “Choose Love” written into the end zone. The inscription had been in place since the racial justice protests that followed the 2020 murder of George Floyd by a white police officer.

Trump had campaigned against NFL players “taking the knee” before kickoff in a symbolic gesture against racism, a practice that has been discontinued.

Alvin Tillery, a politics professor and diversity expert at Northwestern University, told the Associated Press that the NFL’s decision to remove “End Racism” slogans was “shameful” given that the league “makes tens of billions of dollars largely on the bodies of Black men.”. Tillery said the league should explain who it was aiming to please.

In a statement before heading to New Orleans from his home in Florida, Trump said he was looking forward to joining fans for a sense of national unity and patriotism.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce told reporters it is “pretty cool” that Trump would attend the game on Sunday, but it is not known how pop star Taylor Swift, also attending the game, may interpret her beau’s endorsement.

Trump battled Swift’s perceived Democratic leanings throughout the 2024 presidential campaign. Two months before the vote, Swift said she planned to vote for Kamala Harris “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”.

Trump retorted with, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” in a post on his Truth Social platform.

No photo description available.

“The coaches, players, and team staff on the field tonight represent the best of the best in professional football, but they also embody the best of the American dream,” he said.

Trump also noted the 14 deaths and 35 injuries from the truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day: “We remember that 14 families will be missing a loved one who was tragically murdered during a senseless terrorist attack while celebrating the New Year on Bourbon Street.”

A White House official said Trump will meet with family members of the attack who will be honorary coin toss participants just before the big game.

Trump added that the game was an annual opportunity to transcend differences, saying that the Chiefs and Eagles’ coaches, players, and staff “represent the hopes and dreams of our nation’s young athletes as we restore safety and fairness in sports and equal opportunities among their teams.”.

T-Mobile Plays Down Super Bowl Celebrities, Dials Up Elon Musk’s Starlink Technology By Brian Steinberg Plus Icon T-Mobile-Super-Bowl-commercial Courtesy of T-Mobile T-Mobile just dialed back its connection to celebrities in the Super Bowl. The telecommunications giant ran a 60-second commercial in the first quarter during Fox’s broadcast of Super Bowl LIX that was bereft of the marketer’s usual touches. All of the people that are in our spots are friends of T-Mobile,” says Katz, referring to Panay Films. “These guys are close partners with us. and don’t just show up and read scripts on the day that we shoot. They actually help us create the concepts.” The alliance with Starlink, which provides broadband to rural and remote areas all around the globe, may surprise audiences. The company is a division of Musk’s SpaceX, and Musk has managed to insert himself into President Donald Trump’s efforts to narrow the U.S. government. “If you want to solve this problem” of getting connectivity to remote areas, says Katz, “it requires a very large constellation of satellites, and Starlink is the only one in the world that can deliver on that.” He adds that Starlink “had more launches last year than the rest of the world combined.” No doubt, T-Mobile will apply all the usual tests of advertising effectiveness to its new service that it does to its usual array of stars. If the new offering rates high in measures like recall and likability, perhaps it will return to the Big Game next year.

Fans think Kendrick Lamar took aim at Trump with subtle lyric change during Super Bowl performance

Fans believe Kendrick Lamar took a swipe at President Donald Trump with a subtle lyric change during his halftime Super Bowl performance last night.

The rapper headlined the much-anticipated sport events entertainment on Sunday (9 February), performing his biggest hits in front of the New Orleans crowd.

Whether it be Serena Williams making a cameo on stage, or Samuel L. Jackson making a surprising appearance, Lamar’s halftime show was certainly action-packed.

As fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the ‘hidden meanings’ behind Lamar’s halftime show, others believe the rapper took aim at President Trump with a subtle lyric change in one of his tracks.

“Kendrick Lamar seems to have changed his lyrics to take a shot at Trump, who is also in attendance at the superbowl tonight…” one person wrote on social media.

They added: “What did he mean by ‘The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy?'”

A second added: “‘THE REVOLUTION IS ABOUT TO BE TELEVISED. YOU PICKED THE RIGHT TIME, BUT THE WRONG GUY’. Kendrick Lamar.”

While a third remarked: “‘The revolution boutta be televised you picked the right time but the wrong guy’ IN FRONT OF DONALD TRUMP IS CRAZY KENDRICK IS HIM.”

It was sketches with Pulp Fiction star Jackson that also had fans talking while watching the Super Bowl halftime show, with some suggesting he was criticising Trump in the process.

One of the interludes from Jackson saw him telling Kendrick that ‘he’s too ghetto’ before adding: “Yes! America wants slow chill music.”

Lamar’s comments come after President Trump ordered all US government staff working on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) schemes be put on immediate paid administrative leave.

The president is accelerating his plan to dismantle DEI plans, having revoked the Executive Order 11246 (1965) and sending the message that government employees responsible in the Department of Labor will see their DEI programs removed ‘immediately’ while they face paid leave, The New Republic reports.

The law was designed to protect workers from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.

Advocates for it have long argued it presents a level playing field for underrepresented minorities such as LGBTQ+ people.

Trump’s order aims to stop companies hiring candidates on the basis of race and sex.

The order states: “As a part of this plan, each agency shall identify up to nine potential civil compliance investigations of publicly traded corporations, large non-profit corporations or associations, foundations with assets of 500 million dollars or more, State and local bar and medical associations, and institutions of higher education with endowments over 1 billion dollars.”

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts and Fiancee Bry Burrows' Relationship Timeline

Jalen Hurts is ready for his do-over.

The Philadelphia Eagles are playing in their second Super Bowl in three years on Feb. 9—and their opponent is once again the Kansas City Chiefs, the Patrick Mahomes-led team that defeated them in 2023 by the heartbreaking score of 38-35.

But that was then and this is now.

“Next question,” Hurts said with a small smile when the Eagles quarterback was recently asked what his most vivid memory from that game was.

Not that the 26-year-old isn’t fired up as the Eagles look to deny the Chiefs a historic championship three-peat in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

“You’re motivated by any time you come up short in anything, having that perspective of just trying to learn from all your lessons,” Hurts explained during a Jan. 31 press conference. “No shortcoming is bigger than another, you just want to learn from them all.”

Meanwhile, his M.O. is the same advice he gives his teammates who have never played on football’s biggest stage before: “My approach is just to take it a day at a time,” he said. “It starts with the preparation throughout the week, being diligent with the work, putting the time in, putting forth the effort—so when it’s time to go out there and go, you feel prepared.”

Wise words from a quarterback who’s been up and down the field a few times.

In addition to having the perspective that comes with time and experience, Hurts is also headed to the big game this year with a fiancée in his cheering section: He got engaged to sweetheart Bryonna “Bry” Rivera Burrows at the beginning of the 2024 season.

So the Chiefs can have former Eagles fan Taylor Swift.

Hurts met Burrows at University of Alabama and they dated on and off through his transfer to University of Oklahoma, where he played one season before being drafted by the Eagles in 2020.

The fans who’ve been rooting for them ever since noticed a big diamond on that finger when she cozied up to her QB on the sideline when the Eagles played the Packers Sept. 6 in São Paolo, Brazil. And the super-private athlete, who had previously shared with Essence that he was “spoken for,” confirmed their suspicions a couple weeks later.

Though there may have been a little interference along the way, Hurts told the publication in 2023 he “knew a long time ago” that Burrows was the one. “I mean, to this point in my life, that’s an irreplaceable feeling. I think that’s what allowed us to get to where we are now.”

So while he takes his job seriously—”In the end, it’s a business trip,” he said of the mission at hand—Hurts isn’t all work and no play.

After growing up near Houston, Jalen attended University of Alabama from 2016 to 2018 before being displaced by Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

He later transferred to the University of Oklahoma for the 2019 season, then entered the 2020 NFL draft.

Before competing in Super Bowl 2023, Jalen was asked about facing critics in his career. “I had a purpose before anybody had an opinion,” he said during a Feb. 9 press conference. “It’s not about anyone else.”

When reporters remained silent, the quarterback added, “Y’all know y’all liked that one.”

Kendrick Lamar, Super Bowl 2025

Kendrick Lamar wore an “a” chain during his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance on Feb. 9. See why fans think it was a diss towards Drake amid their ongoing feud.

Watch: Super Bowl 2025: Kendrick Lamar Disses Drake During Halftime Show Performance

Don’t turn your TV off until you’ve seen Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.

Halfway through the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9, the rapper took the stage at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome. And fans couldn’t help but notice how he appeared to throw shade at Drake amid their ongoing feud.

One of these disses seemed to be in the form of the “a” chain Kendrick was wearing—which some social media interpreted as a nod to the “A minor” lyric in his five-time Grammy-winning song “Not Like Us.”

“KENDRICK WEARING A LOWER CASE ‘a’ DIAMOND CHAIN FOR A MINOR ?????” one follower wrote on X. “MY KINDA OF HATER. Holy s–t.” Added another, “Did Kendrick wear a lowercase ‘a’ diamond necklace for ‘A minor’ lmfao.” Chimed in a third, “Kendrick Lamar really wore an a minor chain while performing they not like us at the Super Bowl lmao.” In “Not Like Us,” Kendrick raps lyrics like “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young” and “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.”

Drake has denied the allegation of being with underage women. On his own track “The Heart Part 6,” the “God’s Plan” rapper says, “I never been with no one underage but now I understand why this the angle that you really mess with / Just for clarity, I feel disgusted, I’m too respected / If I was f–king young girls, I promise I’d have been arrested.”

He later adds, “Drake is not a name that you gon’ see on no sex offender list, Eazy-Duz-It / You mentionin’ A minor, but n—as gotta B sharp and tell the fans, ‘Who was it?’”

However, the chain wasn’t the only way Kendrick appeared to troll Drake. During his performance of “Not Like Us,” the 37-year-old looked straight at the camera as he rapped, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young.” And when Kendrick rapped the “A minor” lyric, the crowd joined in.

The Grammy winner also had Serena Williams at one point join him on the stage (the tennis star dated Drake over a decade ago). Other stars who made an appearance during Kendrick’s performance include Samuel L. Jackson and SZA.

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially secured their win at Super Bowl LIX, and some people forked out thousands of dollars to be in on the action.

Sure, you could have grabbed some wings, whipped up a dip, and sat down in front of the TV at home, but for some fans, that just wasn’t quite good enough.

Ticket packages including a pre-game party, an open bar and a ticket to the game started at a staggering $6,700, but that’s far from the most expensive experience that was available to in attendance at the Caesars Superdome, where the Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Philadelphia Eagles.

What tickets could you get for the Super Bowl?

The official On Location website had a range of experiences available, including separate Eagles and Chiefs Super Bowl packages, a chance to sit on the 50-yard line, and post-game field access.

Its cheapest package, titled ‘Touchdown Club Premier’, allowed fans to choose their exact seat in the stadium, attend a pregame party, dine with an open bar and chef-curated cuisine, enjoy appearances from ‘NFL Legends’, and listen to live music from Ludacris & The Revivalists.

On the flip side, the most expensive package cost $28,945 for a single occupancy room, or $18,445 per person for a double occupancy room.

What was included in the all-inclusive package?

Catchily named the ‘Hotel Monteleone Official Ticket + All-Inclusive Weekend Experiences’ package, this particular offering included not only a ticket for fans to attend the actual game, rather than watching the NFL at home, but also a three-night hotel stay, a party, food, and a whole host of other perks.

The football

Let’s start with the most important part of the Super Bowl – the actual football. In the package, guests enjoyed:

  • A ticket to the Super Bowl
  • Elevated pregame and postgame experiences including parties on the Super Bowl campus, live entertainment, and appearances by NFL legends
  • A photo op with the Vince Lombardi Trophy before it was handed to the winner of the Super Bowl

The food

All of those activities obviously required some fuelling, so the package of course included some tasty dishes up for grabs throughout the weekend.

  • The On Location Lounge was open throughout the afternoon on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and offered beer, wine, and light bites for guests
  • A New Orleans Jazz Brunch on the Saturday morning featured New Orleans culinary and spirit tasting
  • A chef-curated menu featuring New Orleans favorites and tailgate fare, as well as ‘unlimited well brand spirits’

The hotel

The excitement of the big game might have stopped fans from getting much sleep, but at least they had a place to try and rest! The package included a stay at the Hotel Monteleone – ‘one of the last great family owned and operated hotels in New Orleans’.

  • Hotel stays ran from Friday-Monday
  • The hotel is located less than a mile from the football stadium
  • It features an on-site restaurant and bar, a fitness center, and a spa

The extras

As if all of that wasn’t enough, there were a few extra things thrown in too.

  • A dedicated concierge team to ensure fans had an exceptional Super Bowl LIX experience
  • A bespoke gifting experience

Hopefully the perks will have softened the blow for any Chiefs fans!

Donald Trump announces new tariff on all countries importing specific items into US as trade war escalates

President Donald Trump revealed in a briefing on the way to the Super Bowl that he plans to impose new import tariffs on specific items entering the United States.

Yesterday (February 9), the Philadelphia Eagles put an end to the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat dreams by snagging the Super Bowl LIX trophy with a solid 40-22 victory.

Among the 73,000+ NFL fans in attendance at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans was Trump, 78, who flew to the sporting event from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida via Air Force One.

Selena Gomez deletes video crying over new move by Donald Trump

Aboard the aircraft, the 47th President of the United States told reporters that plans were in motion for him to impose 25 percent tariffs on any steel and aluminum products coming into the country.

“Any steel coming into the United States is going to have a 25 percent tariff,” he told reporters on the aircraft.

When asked to clarify whether the penalties would impact aluminum imports, Trump simply responded, ‘aluminum, too’.

The Apprentice icon also said that ‘reciprocal tariffs’ would probably be announced on ‘Tuesday or Wednesday’.

According to the Associated Press, this means the US would impose import duties on products in cases where another country had already levied duties on US goods.

“If they are charging us 130% and we’re charging them nothing, it’s not going to stay that way,” Trump explained.

Sky News reports that, following Trump’s announcement, share prices in steelmakers in Asia were mostly down on Monday (February 10), apart from those with operations in the US.

The recent conversation regarding trade penalties comes just days after the Republican politician said tariffs on the European Union (EU) would be implemented ‘pretty soon’.

“They don’t take our cars, they don’t take our farm products, they take almost nothing and we take everything from them. Millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products,” he said, via the BBC.

“I wouldn’t say there’s a timeline, but it’s going to be pretty soon.”

French President Emmanuel Macron has since questioned why Trump had made ordering tariffs on the EU one of his ‘top priorities’.

“Is the European Union your first problem? No, I don’t think so. Your first problem is China, so you should focus on the first problem,” the 47-year-old said in an interview with CNN.

Macron also warned that the metal duties announcement could harm US citizens.

“It means if you put tariffs on a lot of sectors, it will increase the costs and create inflation in the US. Is it what your people want? I’m not so sure,” he explained.

When asked if he was willing to go ‘head-to-head’ with the businessman, Macron quipped: “I already did so, and I will did (sic) it again.”

Trump has also previously threatened to put 25 percent import taxes on all goods from Canada and Mexico.

“Anybody that loves and believes in the United States of America is in favor of tariffs. They should have never ended, in favor of the Income Tax System, in 1913. The response to tariffs has been FANTASTIC!,” he added on his social media platform Truth Social.

However, he implemented a 30-day pause on these tariffs earlier this month after Mexico and Canada retaliated by issuing their own counter-tariffs.

As well as announcing the new metal tariffs, Trump used his flight onboard Air Force One to sign a proclamation declaring February 9 as the first-ever ‘Gulf of America Day’.

The initial order came just weeks after the father-of-five ordered the Gulf of Mexico to be renamed following his inauguration in Washington last month.

“Make America great again, that’s all we care about,” said Trump, before remarking the pen he used to sign was ‘famous now’.

Following the thrilling Chiefs vs. Eagles showdown and speculation from netizens about the couple’s possible breakup, Kelce addressed a different hot topic during the game’s opening night—whether he and Swift were ready to take their relationship to the next level.

As reported on February 5, Kelce was asked if he would propose to Swift at Super Bowl LIX. His response left fans buzzing with mixed opinions.

Kelce had playful responses for journalists eager to know if he was ready to take the next step in his relationship with Swift. One reporter directly asked Kelly, “Are the rumours true? Are you proposing to Taylor at the half? At halftime,” to which the footballer answered, “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

He was later asked twice in a row whether he planned to give Swift a ring. Amused by the repeated questioning, he told reporters, “Man, back to back, you guys are crazy.”

Travis Kelce never gave a direct response to the proposal question, a move that has stirred chatter from fans. One person claimed that Kyle had no interest in marrying Swift, suggesting that he would have proposed already if he did. A user who believed marriage simply wasn’t in the cards stated, “That’s a big no.”

Another fan speculated that Swift had no plans to marry Kelce and suggested that he was aware of it, which is why he avoided the topic. Others questioned whether a proposal at such a high-profile event would even be desirable. One argued that most women wouldn’t want that kind of public moment.

Meanwhile, a fan who hoped an engagement was on the horizon believed it was the right time to make things official. However, others felt there was no need to rush, emphasising that the couple seemed happy as they were.

Some people felt the timing of a proposal should be private and hoped it wouldn’t happen during the Super Bowl. A few sided with Kelce for avoiding the topic; as a fan remarked, “Dude that is private information. I don’t blame him for dodging the questions.”

Kelce was more forthcoming about other questions concerning his relationship with Swift. When asked about the upcoming game, he acknowledged the challenge of being apart from his girlfriend during the playoff season.

He admitted that, although he wasn’t there to support her during that time, he believed the time apart played a role in their success. The 35-year-old athlete also reflected on how both of them value the tangible aspects of their relationship and expressed that the connection they share is undeniable.

Kelce also discussed his desire to keep up with Taylor Swift’s work ethic. He laughed, “I better hold up my end of the bargain, right?”  adding, “I mean, if she’s out here being the superstar she is, never taking no for an answer, and always working her tail off, I better match that energy for sure.”

On a lighter note, Kelce shared his favourite dish that Swift makes when asked what meal of hers would fill him up for the big game. He said, “She is quite the cook. I would say, man, I’m a breakfast guy. Her pop-arts are unbelievable, man. Her homemade pop-tarts are unbelievable.”

Kendrick Lamar sang his hit song ‘Not Like Us’ during the halftime show and left people shocked

The 37-year-old rapper performed his Drake diss track and fans have lost it.

“KENDRICK IS CURRENTLY PERFORMING NOT LIKE US,” wrote one excited Twitter user.

Another added: “Crazy tease then proceeded to do it absolute masterclass.”

A third typed: “WHEN HE SMILED AT THE CAM WHEN HE SAID DRAKE KILT ME.”

Drake is currently suing Universal Music Group – the umbrella company of both his and Drake’s record labels – over Kendrick’s song ‘Not Like Us’, claiming it is defamatory.

The two music stars have long been beefing it out, but their feud came to a head last year when both Drake and Kendrick dropped diss tracks about one another.

Kendrick released ‘Not Like Us’ on May 4 after Drake dropped his song ‘Push Ups’ a few weeks prior.

But Kendrick’s track ended up being the winner in terms of streaming numbers and has amassed over a billion Spotify streams, while ‘Push Ups’ has around 170 million.

The lyrics for ‘Not Like Us’ reads: “Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one/To any b**** that talk to him and they in love/Just make sure you hide your lil’ sister from him/They tell me Chubbs the only one that get your hand-me-downs.”

“I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue” – Kendrick Lamar

“And Party at the party playin’ with his nose now/And Baka got a weird case, why is he around?/Certified Lover Boy? Certified p*dophiles/Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, Dot, f*** ’em up/Wop, wop, wop, wop, wop, I’ma do my stuff.

“Why you trollin’ like a b****? Ain’t you tired?/Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.”

While rapping during the halftime show, Kendrick notably left out the most controversial lyric from the track.

One person took to Twitter, commenting: “They let him sing it, but they didn’t let him say the word, which is pretty funny lol.”

At halftime, the Kansas City Chiefs were losing by a monster score of 24 to nil, in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs are hoping for an unprecedented three-peat, which has never been done before.

We’ve seen the Chiefs and Eagles face off in the final only once before, and that was two years ago when the Chiefs triumphed against their rivals in an epic bout.

The Chiefs left it late again that day, winning by 38 to 35 – with 17 of those points coming in the final quarter, where the Eagles could only muster eight.

Creepy Recording Of A Beluga Whale Mimicking Human Speech Has People Terrified

Creepy Recording Of A Beluga Whale Mimicking Human Speech Has People Terrified

Animals are capable of some truly fascinating things, but this might be one of the creepiest discoveries yet—people are unsettled after hearing a beluga whale attempt to mimic human speech.

While most of us accept that we can’t communicate with animals the same way we do with other humans, there are a few exceptions.

Some species, like parrots, have the ability to imitate human speech remarkably well, sometimes even learning phrases and full sentences.

Imagine the shock of hearing a beluga whale underwater making sounds that bear an unsettling resemblance to human speech.

A video from 2012 has resurfaced on social media, and instead of being amused, most people are downright horrified by what they hear.

Although the news anchors in the clip described the beluga as cute and friendly, the general reaction online has been anything but reassuring.

See the eerie footage for yourself:

One YouTube user reacted to the bizarre video, writing: “It pulls up the bloody, terrifying beluga whale picture, basically saying, ‘I will consume your soul’.”
Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out: “The female reporter: ‘He looks kinda friendly’.”

Another viewer admitted: “The thumbnail literally made my SOUL jump out of its body for a second.”
Someone else couldn’t help but laugh at the contrast between the reporter’s reaction and the unsettling image, saying, “I laughed so hard when she said ‘he looks kind of friendly’ right as that terrifying picture came up.”

One person attempted to explain why this happens, noting: “It makes sense if you think about how the beluga is only mimicking what he can hear.”

Yeah, I don’t want to hear this thing speak like a person ABC News
“The only times human speech would be audible to him is likely when someone is in his enclosure, underwater, and with scuba equipment in their mouths. If you’ve ever gone swimming and tried to talk, it sounds exactly like that.”

If you thought this was just an isolated case, you’d be mistaken…

Earlier this year, an audio recording from 2018 resurfaced, revealing an orca imitating human speech in a similarly eerie way.

The recording was part of a scientific study published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society: Biological Sciences.
Researchers from Germany, Spain, the UK, and Chile worked together to document their findings, confirming that orcas have the ability to mimic human language.

Discussing the significance of this discovery, Josep Call, a professor in the evolutionary origins of the mind at the University of St Andrews and co-author of the study, spoke to CBSN.

He explained: “It tells us that they are flexible vocal learners, and their flexibility is not only in their vocal domain but also in their motor domain.”

Adding to this, he noted, “They can also copy body movements; we knew this from before, but now we know that they can also copy sounds and sounds that are not in their natural repertoire.”
