She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal in “Maria.” This marks her ninth Golden Globe nomination, with three previous wins under her belt from the late ’90s to 2000 for “George Wallace,” “Gia,” and “Girl, Interrupted.”

In a candid interview, Angelina shared the intense journey she underwent to transform into Maria. It took seven months of vocal training to perfect the role, with her own vocals intertwined with real-life recordings of Marias’ iconic performances.

Angelina’s recent appearances come just a week after she and Brad, 61, reached a final settlement in their long-running divorce. The settlement brought an end to over eight years of legal proceedings. The couple officially closed the chapter on their separation when Angelina signed off on their divorce on Christmas Day 2024.

The necessary paperwork was filed by the actress with her choosing not to seek spousal or family support from Brad. The former couple shares six children: Zahara, Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

In a statement from Angelina’s lawyer, James Simon, he explained that the process began more than eight years ago when the actress filed for divorce. He mentioned that she and the children moved out of the properties they had shared with Brad, and since then, Angelina has focused on finding peace and healing for her family.

James further added that while Angelina is “exhausted,” she is “relieved this one part is over,” emphasizing that the settlement is just a small step in a long process that began years ago.

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Though their marriage lasted just two years, they had been together as partners for nearly a decade before tying the knot.

Their relationship began on set in 2004 while filming “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” However, their romance didn’t become official until 2005, as Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Following the divorce filing, Angelina accused Brad of physically abusing one of their children. He denied the allegations and was later cleared after an investigation.

Brad sued Angelina Jolie for selling her share of the property to a Russian oligarch’s company without his approval. He claimed this violated their agreement. While Brad recently won a legal round in the case, the fight is far from over. Both sides are now engaged in a back-and-forth dispute concerning claims related to a non-disclosure agreement.

The “Paradise City” star took to Instagram to share the heartfelt photo with his children, captured outdoors against a wintry background. For the occasion, John and Ella wrapped up warmly in dark jackets and scarves, while Benjamin opted for a casual look in a short-sleeve navy T-shirt.

John captioned this post, “Happy new year from the Travolta family.” The actor shares Ella, and Benjamin, with his late wife, Kelly Preston, who passed away in July 2020. Fans were thrilled to see the trio ringing in the new year together, with many highlighting their striking family resemblance.

One fan remarked, “Daughter is just as beautiful as the mother and boy copycat his dad.” “Beautiful❤️. Ella looks like mom and Ben definitely looks like John. 💕,” another fan echoed similar sentiments. Compliments flowed in, with one fan noting, “Beautiful daughter she looks like her mother, with her handsome brother, and dad.”

More people highlighted Benjamin’s resemblance to John, “His son is looking more like John everyday. What a good looking family,” while another concurred“Benjamin looks just like his dad.” However, one user with a different view chimed in, “That young man looks so much like his mom! A very handsome guy for sure! 🙂.”

Ella’s features captivated more fans, with one saying, “Ella definitely looks like the mom. But has John features as well! Boy looks like him strong Genes !! Sleep Well Kelly 🕊️.” Someone else shared their detailed observation, “😍 she has his eyes he has his smile!!! Beautiful children😍.”

Another fan pointed out, “She really is her father’s daughter, twinning.” “His daughter looks just like him,” one person agreed. Another admirer gushed“Your daughter is your twin and your son looks like your wife ❤️❤️😘.”

One fan marveled at Benjamin’s growth while wishing the family a splendid 2025, “Wow…your son grew so much…he is unrecognizable. Handsome fellow. Happy New Year, John. 🥳.”

John Travolta and his kids hold each other closely having experienced the loss of more than one close family member. The actor lost his first-born child, Jett Travolta, in 2009. His sudden death shocked the family deeply. Jett tragically died at the age of 16 while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas.

The family’s lawyer at the time, Michael Ossi, shared that Jett suffered a seizure at their vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Police spokeswoman Loretta Mackey reported that the teenager was found unconscious in the bathroom by a caretaker around 10 a.m.

Jett, who had a history of seizures, had hit his head in the bathtub and was rushed to Rand Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

John keeps the memory of his late son close to his heart, often sharing heartfelt tributes on what would have been Jett’s birthday. In 2022, he posted a touching photo with the caption, “My dearest Jetty, I miss you more than words can say. I think about you every day. Happy Birthday. Love, your Dad.”

Another devastating loss hit the family on July 12, 2020, when Kelly died after a two-year battle with breast cancer. A family representative announced that the actress had chosen to keep her health issues private but was supported by close family and friends as she underwent treatment.

The rep paid tribute to Kelly, writing, “She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched.”

Since the passing of his wife, John has remained a steadfast presence in his children’s lives, offering them unwavering love and support through every moment. When Ella first started writing her music, she looked to her dad for guidance.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ella had recorded several voice notes on her phone, capturing song ideas and melodies she had created, often using her ukulele. After crafting a few, she felt it was time to share them and chose to play them for her father.

Ella recalled her dad’s response, “He was like, ‘Oh, wow, you should really finish these. You should finish these songs, and then, you could record demos of them or something.'” This encouragement from her dad made the “Little Bird” singer focus more on her music.

The 24-year-old also gets advice on the entertainment industry from her dad. “I run things by him a lot. He’s a complete role model for me and one of the biggest things also that he does is he’ll give me advice. The best advice that I’ve gotten obviously is from him,” she shared.

Even so, Ella appreciates that her father gives her the freedom to make her own decisions, trusting her instincts and allowing her to take the lead. This bond she shares with her dad extends to her brother. Benjamin listens to Ella’s songs before they are released and shares his opinions with her. “They’re so supportive,” she gushed.

Today, despite the challenges they’ve faced, Ella, John, and Benjamin continue to share a strong and loving bond, supporting one another as they navigate life together.

The Top 5 Treatments to Get Rid of Blackheads

The Top 5 Treatments to Get Rid of blackheads

Do you have blackheads on your nose? Chin? Forehead? If so, you’re not alone. Blackheads are one of the most common skin problems in the world. But what are they, and how can you get rid of them? In this blog post, we will discuss everything you need to know about blackheads – including what they are, how they form, and the best treatments for getting rid of them. Stay tuned – we will be discussing each of these treatments in detail in the next few paragraphs!

What You Need to Know About Blackheads

Blackheads are a type of acne characterized by small, dark-colored bumps that form on the skin. They are caused by a build-up of oil and dead skin cells in the pores of the skin, specifically hair follicles. When this happens, the follicles become clogged and the blackhead forms. Blackheads can also form as a result of heavy sweating and/or the use of cosmetics.

It is important to note that blackheads are not pimples. The main difference between a blackhead and a pimple is that pimples are caused by bacteria alone, while blackheads are not. Blackheads form when pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, while pimples form when the pores become clogged with bacteria. Pimples are also red in color and can be accompanied by swelling, while blackheads are small and dark-colored.

healthy skin vs skin with blackhead

Although blackheads most commonly form on the face, they can also form on the:

  • arms
  • back
  • chest
  • neck
  • shoulders

Some people are more prone to developing blackheads than others. Some risk factors for blackheads include:

  • hormonal changes (during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, etc.)
  • certain medications (steroids, birth control pills, etc.)
  • greasy cosmetics
  • oily skin
  • a humid climate
  • a build-up of sweat and bacteria on the skin

How to Get Rid of Blackheads – Top Five Best Treatments

Now that we know what blackheads are and what causes them, let’s discuss the best treatments for getting rid of them. The best treatment for you will depend on the severity of your blackheads, as well as your skin type. Here are five of the most effective treatments:

Facial:

A facial is a great way to get rid of blackheads. It involves cleansing, exfoliating, and extracting the blackheads from the skin. Facials can be done at home or at a spa, however facials performed at a med spa generally obtain more dramatic results with less skin irritation. The benefits of a facial are two fold. For starters, facials exfoliate the dead skin cells to prevent blackheads from occurring. Additionally, existing blackheads are also carefully extracted, or removed, during a facial. Facials are one of the best ways to get rid of blackheads.

Laser Therapy:

Laser therapy is a new treatment for blackheads that uses lasers to target and destroy the build-up of bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells that causes blackheads. It can also reduce inflammation to alleviate current breakouts and helps to prevent future breakouts by reducing oil production. Finally, laser therapy helps stimulate collagen to minimize the appearance of acne scars. Overall, laser therapy is a safe and very effective way to get rid of blackheads with little to no side effects.

Before having laser therapy, you will need to temporarily avoid sun exposure. A topical numbing cream will be applied to your skin before the procedure. The laser therapy treatment itself takes about 20 minutes. You will be lying down and the dermatologist will use a handheld device to direct the lasers onto your skin. You may experience some mild discomfort during the treatment, but most people find it to be quite tolerable.

blackhead skin peel treatment

Chemical Peels:

Chemical peels are also an effective treatment for blackheads. A  superficial chemical peel is a treatment that uses a chemical solution to remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This solution will cause the top layer of skin to peel off, taking the blackheads with it. Superficial peels are ideal for treating mild to moderate acne. Medium peels can also be used, however this type of peel is deeper and extends into the dermis layer of the skin. As a result, however, medium peels can be used to reduce blackheads, as well as the appearance of acne scars.

Microdermabrasion:

Microdermabrasion is another effective treatment for blackheads. Microdermabrasion is a treatment that uses a special machine to exfoliate the skin and remove the dead skin cells. One type of microdermabrasion is known as the diamond-peel treatment. The diamond-peel treatment uses laser-cut diamond tips to remove dead skin cells while also using a vacuum mechanism to stimulate the production of new skin cells. This treatment is especially effective for getting rid of blackheads because it provides a customized approach to exfoliating your skin.

During a microdermabrasion treatment, the therapist will use the machine to exfoliate your skin. This will cause the top layer of skin to peel off, taking the blackheads with it. This normally does not cause any discomfort and can be completed within 20 minutes.

Microneedling:

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is another effective treatment for blackheads. Microneedling is a new, minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to puncture the skin. This causes the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, which helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and acne scars, including blackheads. Unfortunately, old blackheads can form scars. Luckily, microneedling can be used to effectively eliminate or minimize the appearance of these scars.

During a microneedling treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the skin and a needling pen or device will be moved over the surface of your skin. The microneedles will pierce the skin and create a series of micro-injuries. This triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin. The entire treatment takes about 20 minutes.

In Conclusion

In this blog, we have discussed everything you need to know about blackheads – including what they are, how they form, and the best treatments for getting rid of them. If you have blackheads, we hope that this blog has helped you to understand more about them and has given you some ideas on how to get rid of them!

How to Get Rid of Blackheads on Cheeks

How to Get Rid of Blackheads on Cheeks

Removing blackheads

Blackheads, a type of noninflammatory acne, are extremely common. These develop as a result of dead skin cells and oil that get clogged in your pores. The affected pores stay opened, allowing for oxidation at the surface — this is what gives blackheads the dark color they’re notorious for.

While blackheads can occur anywhere, cheeks are especially prone to this type of acne. If you’ve had a tough time getting rid of blackheads on your cheeks, read on to learn more about possible solutions and treatment measures.
Using salicylic acid

Salicylic acid works by drying out sebum and dead skin cells. This not only helps break up pores that’re already clogged, it can also help to prevent blackheads from forming.

Salicylic acid is available in cleansers, toners, and astringents. Some moisturizers and serums also contain salicylic acid. As a rule of thumb, choose only one product with salicylic acid. Too much can dry out your cheeks, making your pores more noticeable.

Exfoliate (gently) with the right products

Exfoliation is a process that removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. The process has a bad reputation for acne-prone skin. While exfoliation can aggravate inflammatory acne, it’s a must-have for noninflammatory acne like blackheads and whiteheads. Weekly exfoliation can help keep dead skin cells at bay while also removing debris in your pores.

Exfoliants can come in the form of:

  • salicylic acid, also called beta-hydroxy acid
  • alpha-hydroxy acids (citric, glycolic, lactic acids)
  • fruit enzymes

The key to making exfoliants work for your cheeks is to massage the product gently. Rubbing too hard can cause irritation and more noticeable pores.

Use moisturizing or mattifying masks

In addition to weekly exfoliation, using a mask two to three times per week can help keep your pores clean. Clay-based masks tend to work best for oily skin. These have mattifying effects because of their ability to remove excess oil and dirt while also removing blackhead-related gunk. With regular use, the pores on your cheeks may look smaller, too.

Apply topical vitamin A products

Widely used in anti-aging products, retinoids may also be useful in treating blackheads on the cheeks. These vitamin A derivatives work by cleaning out hair follicles in your pores while also creating a more even skin texture. Such effects may also be helpful for acne scars and stretched-out pores.

Exfoliate with chemical peels

Chemical peels work by removing the outer layer of skin. When used regularly, you may have cleaner, more toned skin after several weeks.

While primarily used for uneven skin tone and wrinkles, chemical peels may help cheek blackheads by removing dead skin cells and reducing the appearance of enlarged pores. An over-the-counter chemical peel may be enough to do the trick, but you can also talk to a dermatologist about clinical-strength options.

Keep your skin hydrated

Don’t leave your skin out to dry, even if you’re battling frequent blackheads. The right balance of moisture can help decrease the presence of dead skin cells, which are the earmarks of blackhead formation. The key is to drink plenty of water. Then find a water-based moisturizer to use on your face.

Professional extraction

Squeezing blackheads is off-limits, though you might have heard of how extraction tools can be used at home to help unclog your pores. While seemingly harmless, extraction tools can damage your skin when used incorrectly. This can leave your cheeks red, irritated, and cut — all of which can end up being more noticeable than the original blackheads you just got rid of.

If you’re interested in extractions, see an aesthetician or a dermatologist who can do it for you instead.

5 things that affect blackheads

Blackheads result from clogged pores. Still, there are other factors that can encourage blackheads to form on your cheeks.

Genetics

Unfortunately, if your parents have oily skin, you’re likely to have it, too. The excess sebum in your pores will then make you more prone to blackheads. You may have more blackheads on your cheeks if you have enlarged pores on this area of your face. The right skin care habits can help you balance out these genetic dispositions so you won’t have as many blackheads.

Picking at your skin

While we know that picking our skin is bad for us, it’s still so tempting to squeeze stubborn blackheads. This will do little to get rid of deeply embedded blackheads, though. Even if you do successfully pop a blackhead or two out of your cheeks, this can damage your pores.

This results in enlarged pores due to stretching and inflammation, potentially leading to a vicious cycle of even more blackheads in the future — not to mention acne scars.

Using pore-clogging products

Cleansers, exfoliants, masks, and moisturizers are useful for many skin types. However, when it comes to preventing blackheads, not just any product will do.

At the very least, use oil-free, noncomedogenic products. In layman’s terms, this means that the products won’t add more oil and clog your pores. Using thick creams and oily makeup will clog your pores, increasing the risk for blackheads on your cheeks and the surrounding area.

Using overly harsh products

With oily products off-limits, you might be inclined to use products that’ll completely strip the oils from your skin. However, this will do more damage than good. Harsh ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide are designed for inflammatory acne — think pustules and cysts — and not blackheads.

Using these types of ingredients will dry out your skin, which makes your sebaceous glands panic and secrete more oils. In turn, your cheeks may see even more blackheads. Instead of drying out your face, the key is to make sure your skin has the right balance of moisture.

Sleeping in your makeup

When dealing with blackheads, one of the worst things you can do is sleep in your makeup. Your cheeks are perhaps more vulnerable to the effects of residual makeup than the rest of your face. There’s not only leftover foundation, but there could be blush, highlighter, bronzer, and setting powder to boot.

Make it a priority to take off your face at the end of each and every day before cleansing — your cheeks will be cleaner for it.

Make it a habit

Treating and preventing blackheads on your cheeks can take time. But with the right skin care regimen, you can help prevent their occurrence while also gradually working the gunk out of your pores.

If you continue to experience enlarged pores on your cheeks along with subsequent blackheads, see a dermatologist. They may recommend different products or professional-grade treatments, such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, to help you get rid of those pesky blackheads. Like other things involving your body’s natural processes, managing and preventing blackheads is about consistency and good habits.

RIP Noble Steed

Real life donkey Perry who ‘inspired’ Eddie Murphy’s character in the Shrek movies has passed away.

Miniature donkey Pericles – a.k.a. Perry – passed away at the age of 30 after being diagnosed with an incurable condition, his sanctuary announced in a post to social media.

Perry’s inspiration for Shrek

The first of the iconic franchise was released in 2001 and stars not just ogres Shrek (Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz), but noble steed Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) too.

And it’s reported the movie took inspiration from real-life donkey Perry when creating Murphy’s character.

Perry was originally brought to California in 1997 as an emotional support animal for polo ponies but ‘instead of calming them, he nipped at them,’ Barron Park Donkey Project’s website reveals.

The donkey was subsequently re-homed in Barron Park where he ended up being visited by animators from Pacific Data Images – ‘a local company contracted by DreamWorks for the 3D animation’ – in 1999.

It’s reported the animators ‘visited the pasture and observed Perry, especially his movements and gait, to learn how donkeys move’.

“Unfortunately, although Donkey was a hilarious and well-loved star in Shrek, Perry is not mentioned in the movie credits,” the website adds.

And sadly Barron Park Donkey Project has since revealed Perry has gone to pastures new.

Perry’s passing

Barron Park Donkeys took to Instagram on January 4 to share the news of Perry’s passing. The post reads: “In loving memory Petty. June 1994 – January 2, 2025.

“Perry came to the Barron Park donkeys in 1997 as a young and feisty three-year-old companion to Miner Forty-Niner.

“Throughout his long life here, Perry captured the hearts of the Barron Park community, and far beyond, with his beautiful soulful eyes, his sweet and gentle disposition, his amiable stroll to the pasture gate to greet his visitors, and of course his contributions to the movie Shrek – as the motion model for the Donkey character in the movie.”

The Barron Park Donkey Project revealed Perry passed away after ‘suffering increasingly from a condition known as laminitis’ – a condition which affects the hooves, causing inflammation which ‘is not curable’ – adding handlers spent ‘many hours’ with him ‘petting him, cradling him, singing to him and telling him that he was and always will be loved’.

The project praised Perry for ‘delighting’ people with appearances at events and daily walks and being a ‘beloved member’ of the community and noted ‘memorial plans will be announced soon’.

And it’s not taken long for fans of the donkey and Shrek films to flock to social media to pay tribute.

Paying tribute to Perry

One Twitter user wrote: “RIP Perry! The Shrek series was awesome…”

“Damn didn’t even know about Perry, RIP you rock star,” another added.

A third commented: “Aw, I’m sorry to hear that. RIP Perry.”

“Happy trails Perry,” a fourth wrote, while a fifth resolved: “RIP NOBLE STEED!”

Woman who found deepfake porn of herself online left 'traumatized' by what she had to do to remove the videos

A woman discovered x-rated photographs and videos of herself online which she’d never taken or created

A woman has opened up about the long-lasting impact finding deepfake pornography of her online has had.

Kirsty Pellant and two other women ended up getting in contact after one realized there was a fake x-rated profile of herself and the other two women as well.

The trio then managed to work together to figure out which mutual friend they all shared – who was also linked to the fake profiles too – and identify the man behind the horrifying scam.

Discovering the deepfake pornography online

Pellant received a Valentine’s Day card through her door in 2017 and later received a message from a stranger online asking why she didn’t show up to their date – she had no idea what the person was on about.

She revealed to The Times the stranger messaged her saying: “I am guessing you might be inundated with emails from XHamster’s guys.”

XHamster is an adult entertainment site that allows content creators to message with users and the stranger told Pellant he’d seen explicit images of her too.

Pellant was left dumbfounded – a 44-year-old school safeguarding officer, she had never even dreamt of setting up a profile on an x-rated site or shared any explicit images of herself. However, a search of her name alongside the word ‘porn’ seemingly revealed otherwise.

Exposing the perpetrator

Pellant’s search online revealed not just images but seemingly videos of her engaging in sex acts too – deepfakes.

ESafety Commissioner’s website explains: “A deepfake is a digital photo, video or sound file of a real person that has been edited to create an extremely realistic but false depiction of them doing or saying something that they did not actually do or say.

“Deepfakes are created using artificial intelligence software that currently draws on a large number of photos or recordings of the person to model and create content.”

In Pellant’s case, it was deepfake pornography – and she wasn’t the only woman targeted by the perpetrator either.

A woman got in touch with Pellant and another victim and the trio managed to hone in on a friend they – and their fake profiles – shared, exposing their Pellant’s former colleague Jon Bates as the creator behind the deepfake pornography and reporting him to the police.

Bates – a teacher and former soldier – was ultimately sentenced to five years in prison and handed a ten-year order banning him from contacting any of the women he violated.

The lasting impact

Pellant says she was ‘traumatized’ by having to go through so many x-rated sites to find all of the videos and images of herself to report them and have them removed.

It also left her unable to leave the house alone ‘without fear,’ her career in a school ‘completely tarnish[ed]’ too given the sexual nature of the deepfakes.

She reflected: “It was everywhere. It completely tarnishes your reputation and you have no control over it. It has been devastating.”

Pellant hopes speaking out about what happened to her raises awareness of the crime and helps others who’ve experienced similar feel better supported.

She resolved: “I’ll never be the Kirsty I was before this. It changes you. I am trying to turn this into a positive and help others with their trauma.”

Spider Man director reveals how Tom Holland beat 1,500 actors for the role at just 19

He fended off a healthy amount of competition nine years ago

Tom Holland’s career has gone from strength-to-strength having made his break when he was just 14-years-old.

Yes, in the 2012 hit movie The Impossible, which is based on a true story following a family vacationing in Thailand when one of the world’s deadliest tsunami crashes down on them, Holland was just a young teen. Although when it was finally released he was 16.

But in the space of just five years, he managed to land one of the most sought after roles in cinematography… at least at the time, and he was just 19-years-old.

Now, reflecting on the Brit’s audition, Anthony Russo explained how Holland was up against more than 1,500 fellow actors worldwide who all fancied their chances of becoming Peter Parker – including Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend and fellow Hollywood star, Timothée Chalamet.

Russo, who alongside his brother Joe Russo, directed Captain America: Civil War – the film in which Holland’s Spider-Man first featured in the multiverse – and knew almost instantly that Holland was the man for the job.

But he actually got the job while director Jon Watts was casting for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Speaking to Men’s Health, Watts said: “He just was so young and sweet, and just charming, and then in the audition, he did a full backflip, like a standing backflip, in addition to being really great on tape.

“It was like watching a video of the real Peter Parker.”

Yes, epically Holland went the extra mile in his virtual video casting, instead of just learning his lines and donning a New York accent, he entered the shot with a series of backflips with him being an avid gymnast.

Russo added: “He was all the things that reminded me of what I loved about Peter Parker as a kid.

“And he was a movie star. He had that movie-star quality. The charisma, the confidence, the energy.”

But apparently, time has done a number on his body, with the 28-year-old confessing that one of his younger cousins asked him to do a backflip, and, of course, he did… but he regretted doing so.

“I actually did land it, but I pulled every muscle in my stomach,” he told the magazine.

“For weeks, I couldn’t laugh because my stomach was so sore.”

Yeah, I’m not sure Holland will be doing all his own stunts for too much longer – lord knows how Tom Cruise manages it!

James Spader stars in the gripping series that spanned 10 years

Crime fans quite literally can’t get enough of a series that’s been praised as having the ‘single greatest opening to a show’ ever.

It’s a bold claim, especially since no one can have seen every show opening in history, but people are standing by their views when it comes to this particular series.

Starring James Spader, Diego Klattenhoff, Megan Boone and Harry Lennix, among others, the series follows an FBI profiler named Elizabeth Keen (Boone) whose life gets upended when a criminal named Raymond Reddington (Spader) suddenly turns himself in after evading capture for decades.

After years on the run, Reddington insists that he’ll only speak to one person: Elizabeth.

The show premiered on NBC on September 23, 2013, with an action-packed episode that’s earned a rating of 8.10/10 on IMDb. In the Spader’s opening minutes, his character casually strolls into the FBI’s headquarters in Washington DC and is forced to kneel on the ground as officials pull out their weapons.

As the opening episode goes on, viewers learn Reddington had traveled to the bureau to hand himself in and give information on a crime committed by a Serbian man named Ranko Zamani (Jamie Jackson).

It might have been more than a decade since the episode aired, but it continues to be praised by fans, with some going as far as to claim it as ‘one of the best ever’.

If your interest is piqued and you want to judge the opening episode – and hopefully the rest of the series – for yourself, you can find all 10 seasons on Netflix under The Blacklist.

You can watch the trailer for the first season – including the wild opening scene – below:

“I will never forget the Iconic moment that was the pilot episode of THE BLACKLIST!,” one fan wrote on Twitter 10 years after the show first aired, while another added: “One of the best pilot episodes of all time … #blacklist.”

Comprising a huge 218 episodes and 10 seasons, The Blacklist makes for a perfect bingeing show. During its time on air, the series scooped up a Creative Arts Emmy Award and two Golden Globe nods.

It finally reached its conclusion in July 2023, but many fans are already going back for a re-watch.

Praising the series on Facebook, one user wrote: “Seriously, it’s one of the strongest and greatest series openings ever. Anyone who’s seen this show, especially this scene, will get what I mean. It’s an epic start that pulls you into the story, the characters & especially Raymond Reddington.”

“Brilliant series, I’m watching it again for a third time,” another wrote.

Puppy 'saved owner's life' after chewing his toe to the bone while he was sleeping

The bulldog pup became the unexpected hero of the hour

A puppy was lauded for saving his ‘owner’s life’ after chewing his toe to the bone while he was sleeping.

Dog owners will know their pets will chew anything they can get their paws on, which can be a bit of a nightmare when the dog is munching on the tickets for that gig you were meant to be going to next week.

However, they can sometimes come to some use for their biting habits.

David Lindsay loves his pup, Harley, a bulldog; and this floppy-eared friend looks totally harmless, but that all changed one time as David was sleeping.

When he was having a little nap on the couch, his pooch decided to strike on an unexpected area.

“I was asleep on the couch when my wife walked in and shouted, ‘Dave, the puppy’s chewing your toe!” he recalled.

“My puppy had near enough chewed my big toe off! It chewed down to the bone and cracked it.”

Now, most people would wake up if a dog started sinking its teeth into your foot, but David didn’t notice one bit.

“Because of all this, I discovered that my foot is completely numb, I can’t feel anything,” David explained.

The dad-of-five, from the UK, immediately rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital after waking up to find his toe in pieces and was put on intravenous antibiotics to stop an infection caused by the dog bite from spreading to his bone.

Doctors also conducted CT scans for his fractured toe and discovered that David had not one, but two blocked arteries – which is why he couldn’t feel anything.

The findings meant that David’s entire leg could have been in danger of needing amputation if the blood supply wasn’t returned.

Thanks to Harley’s decision to chow down on his foot, doctors could get to work and repair it before things got crazy.

Instead of being annoyed at his dog for chewing his toe to bits, David was grateful and adored Harley even more for it.

He claimed that the dog had ‘done [him] a favour’ by chewing his toe, and made clear he has no plans to get rid of the pup because of it.

“I’m waiting to find out if they can put stents in. I’ll be keeping the dog,” he said.

“I’ll try to keep my toe too, but if not I told the doctor to cut it off and I can take it home for him!”

David had to stay in the hospital for more than a week after Harley chewed his toe, but was eventually reunited with his dog.
