As we enter 2025, you know what that means – there’ll be new movies and TV shows for us to welcome the New Year.
That doesn’t mean to say that 2024 didn’t leave us out to dry, as many viewers were raving about a ‘unbelievable’ thriller and a true crime series that involves Barack Obama, an Elvis impersonator and a poison plot.
Netflix also ended the year by adding a hospital drama from 2018, which UK viewers were unable to watch – until now.
The NBC show recently arrived on Netflix (NBC)
The show is called New Amsterdam, and follows Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Egghold) who joins one of the oldest public hospitals in New York as a medical director.
Unlike his predecessors, Goodwin is set on making some changes, rustling some feathers and doing all he can to remove bureaucracy, address neglect and ensure better care for its patients.
As you can imagine, the show often deals with sensitive subject matter and this has really resonated with some viewers, and some have gone as far to call the show ’11 out 10′.
One Twitter user joked: “My name is Rob and I’m a telly addict. I’ve just found New Amsterdam on Netflix. See you in a few weeks!

Another commented: “I introduced the wife to New Amsterdam on Netflix last night. I’ve seen most series already but 2 episodes in it already hits me in the feels.”
“Such a good series with so many heart string moments. I won’t lie though (no spoilers) I’m already prepping the tissues.”
Someone else commented that they ‘can’t get enough of this series’, while a fourth said: “New Amsterdam on Netflix 11 out of 10.”
A fifth viewer had high praise for the show’s overall premise, calling it an ‘amazing’ watch.
On Rotten Tomatoes, there isn’t a Tomatometer rating and it does hold a rather meh 50 percent popcorn meter rating. However, on IMDB, the show boasts a solid 8/10 following over 52,000 reviews.
