What Demi Moore, 61, Has Done to Her Face to Look Like She’s ‘Aging Backwards,’ According to a Cosmetic Doctor

Demi Moore exercised and dieted rigorously while starring in her earlier movies. Now, she’s comfortable with her appearance, but occasional self-doubt slips in. Comparisons of her looks from a few years ago to now aim to discredit her claims of never undergoing cosmetic surgery.

In her latest movie, Demi Moore addresses themes like aging, self-acceptance, self-hate, self-esteem, and more. The actress is no stranger to criticism about her looks, and while she has faced it before, a doctor recently added to the scrutiny.

Moore is an actress, director, and producer born on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. She is well-known for starring in films such as 1990’s “Ghost,” 1993’s “Indecent Proposal,” and 2003’s “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.” As she approaches her 62nd birthday in November 2024, Moore seems to be aging in reverse.

Her latest role, in 2024’s psychological horror “The Substance,” showcased her youthful looks. Ironically, the two-hour, 21-minute movie centers on a celebrity, Elisabeth Sparkle, whose fame fades with age. She then takes an illegal, cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger and improved version of herself.

The substance transforms Sparkle into a self-absorbed but youthful version of her older self, who then threatens to destroy them both. French writer and director Coralie Fargeat shared what kind of actress was necessary for this role.

She explained, “The part needed to be embodied by an actress who was a symbol herself.” Fargeat noted that she recognized, “Those kinds of actresses would be frightened by jumping into something that confronts them with their own phobias.”

What made Moore ideal, however, was that she’d already faced the fears her character battles, including the self-hatred and turmoil they bring. The director felt that the actress was suited for the role because “she has processed all that in a peaceful way.”

Yet, there are contrasts between the star and Sparkle; the character strips away layers of herself seeking men’s approval, while at 61, Moore is at ease with herself. Fargeat emphasized that the film taught an important lesson: chasing something you believe is better can lead to losing what you already have.

Moore also explained her motivation for taking the role. In an interview, she said, “What you described is what moved me when I read the script, because it was such a unique way to be exploring this issue of aging, of societal conditioning, of what I also see as the pressure of the male-idealized woman that we as women have bought into.”

She appreciated seeing a physical representation of the self-inflicted violence in our thoughts, as people often attack themselves and distort things. The actress believes there is power in understanding that we have the option to make different choices for ourselves.

To keep things light, she added, “And for those who aren’t looking for such a deep message, it’s just entertaining.” Despite her work confronting her body image fears, she is still human and sometimes judges herself harshly. In the past, she’s been accused of altering her body through cosmetic surgery.

Moore’s Struggles with Aging and the Criticism She’s Gotten over the Years

In a recent interview about her latest film, Moore was taken aback when her stylist, Brad Goreski, sent her photos via text. The actress showed her humanity when she tensed up while viewing the images on her iPad.

When her interviewer inquired if anything was wrong, Moore replied, “I’m not perfect. Sometimes I’ll look at a photo and think, ‘I look old,’ or whatever.” Yet, she shared how she copes, saying, “But I’ve learned to deal with it.”

Making the film didn’t dramatically shift her views on aging, but it deepened her appreciation for who she is. She further explained, “One of the biggest themes of my career is challenging preconceived ideas and limitations.”

Now, Moore feels she is in control of her own story rather than having it dictated by her age. She expressed her disagreement with society’s tendency to define how someone should look or act based on age.

The actress stated, “Your 60s is not what your 60s used to be. There’s a part of me that’s enjoying figuring it out as I go along.” She revealed that her 40s brought more career challenges than she faces now.

At that time, her identity in Hollywood was unclear as no one knew what to do with her. She elaborated, “I wasn’t 30, but I wasn’t 40 in a way that people could comfortably identify me as a mother, etc. There was no place for me.”

When she starred in movies like “G.I. Jane” and “Striptease,” she was consumed with exercise and diet, not only because the roles demanded it. But, after “G.I. Jane,” she felt burnt out and decided to stop working out.

Explaining her decision, she said, “I realised I needed to come from the inside and find a sense of peace. I realised being thin did not equal happiness. [sic]” The star ultimately discovered that she feels and looks her best when she’s happy and doesn’t overexert herself.

Despite her insights, the media’s perspective is different, with reports claiming she spent $3 million on a new body. These false rumors frustrated Moore, who felt battling the tabloids only “perpetuates the myth.”

Things hit a peak when several tabloids alleged she had cosmetic surgery on her knees. The rumors made her question if she should be concerned about her knees. During an interview, the reporter even checked for scars and found none.

Moore remarked, “It’s not just my knees. They say I’ve had multiple face surgeries.” In 2007, while getting a facial, rumors surfaced claiming she was undergoing extensive surgical procedures.

The star has repeatedly insisted she has never had work done on her face, a fact her interviewer confirmed. Additionally, the actress has never undergone liposuction, and speaking to “Today” about being in her 60s, she expressed, “I feel like this is the most exciting time of my life.”

She explained that with her children now adults, she has the “most independence and autonomy to really re-define where I wanna go.” Though she’s unsure what that path will look like, she’s excited to be on it.

Demonstrating the attention Moore receives for her appearance, a doctor recently compared photos of her from 2019 to September 2024 to highlight her transformation. He also mentioned the cosmetic procedures he suspects she’s had.

Moore’s Transformation over Recent Years

On October 28, 2024, Dr. Jonny Betteridge, an aesthetics doctor and founder of JB Aesthetics, shared an analysis on Instagram detailing Moore’s transformation over the last few years. He remarked that she “looks like she’s aging backwards.”

Referring to a 2019 photo, he observed, “Some characteristic signs of aging to the face and neck with skin laxity and volume loss being the predominant features,” with volume loss as the primary concern, according to Betteridge.

Betteridge pointed out, “Notice how her face has changed from how we saw it a few years ago to now, a much more lifted and tighter appearance. These features are likely attributed to a deep plane face and neck lift.”

He then shared a video from the same period, zooming in on her ear to display what he claimed was a surgical scar, possibly from a facelift. Betteridge also noted that her “eye area has a much smoother contour, and her eyelids are also more visible.”

The doctor attributed these changes to an upper and lower blepharoplasty, a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids. He suggested that this is why Demi Moore now appears youthful and wrinkle-free around her eyes.

Betteridge, who offers non-surgical treatments like skin care, Botox, and dermal fillers, believes Moore’s transformation is an example of how skillful plastic surgery can refresh a person’s look without altering their natural appearance.

Seeing the actress during her movie’s premiere, netizens rushed to leave their opinions on her looks. One person said, “She looks younger than her daughters. Magnificent. 🥰.” Siding with Betteridge, an Instagram user claimed, “Demi’s plastic surgeon is a magician.”

Someone else wrote, “Demi and Denis are both super hot. And not for their age just objectively hot. But both are styled/dresses ridiculously. Demi trying to be 25 years old and Denis in, what looks like, an entirely thrifted outfit. [sic]”

One skeptic bluntly added, “WELL PLASTIC SURGERY HELPED,” while another remarked, “Demi being 61 and looking more beautiful than all of her daughters 😂.”

A sixth person who supported the actress noted, “It’s crazy how good demi looks. And she’s the mother of all 3! [sic]❤️❤️❤️.”

Amid online reactions and recent remarks from a cosmetologist, Moore commands the spotlight. In November 2024, she turned heads at the London screening and Los Angeles premiere of the Paramount+ series “Landman.”

13 Women Who Prove Living Razor-Free Is Absolutely Amazing

When you Google “When did women start…” one of the top suggestions is “When did women start shaving?” While hair removal has deep historical roots, more young women are now embracing body hair as a symbol of strength and confidence. Let’s take a look at how these brave women are challenging beauty standards and owning their natural selves.

1. “I love my arm hair but sometimes I feel self-conscious.”

2. “Nothing like the breeze on your leg hair.”

3. “I have more armpit hair than my husband.”

4. “You don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.”

5. “4 years of self-love.”

“I still remember the first comment my mom made above me shaving my armpits at 13 & I was confused as to why she felt the need to comment on my body. It carried a heavy weight & I would continue to shave despite the sensitivity my armpits would have. It was only once I moved out and that I felt confident enough to stop shaving. I now have two step daughters — both have made comments about my body hair which led to a talk about how everyone has body hair & people shave for different reasons — it’s not up to you to decide how other need to portray themselves. Body positivity starts at a young age and carries a weight that not a lot of people realize.” © alisuraus / Reddit

6. “I don’t shave at all anymore.”

7. Drew Barrymore caused a stir back in 2005 during New York Fashion Week when she stepped out confidently.

8. Model Ashley Graham got real about postpartum life in 2020, sharing a selfie in a tank top and disposable underwear, proudly showing off her grown-out armpit hair.

9. “Normalizing dresses and hairy legs.”

10. “Stopped shaving my moustache.”

11. “First time wearing shorts fully unshaven.”

12. “My younger self would be so obsessed with me now and tbh that’s all I care about.”

13. “Feeling lovely and feminine in my body hair.”

Bonus

In 2008, Professor Breanne Fahs gave her female students an assignment to grow out their body hair and reflect on the experience. She later had male students shave their legs. The project highlighted how deeply ingrained the expectation of female hair removal is.

Participants often felt shame, low self-confidence, and even social exclusion. However, Fahs also noticed growing feelings of empowerment and resistance. As Fahs notes, body hair is connected to gender and power, and its visibility can be a powerful tool for change.

Trump and giveaways: What Musk spent $270M on during the election

Musk has been tapped by Trump to reduce federal budget spending.

Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk spent over a quarter of a billion dollars to help get President-elect Donald Trump back in the White House, according to newly released campaign finance records.

The billionaire tech mogul spent over $270 million of his own money through two super PACs that promoted Trump’s candidacy and other Republicans, including one that appeared to refer to deceased liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, according to filings released Thursday night by the Federal Election Commission.

Musk spent roughly $240 million on his pro-Trump super PAC America. The PAC was created after Musk endorsed Trump in July, which made Musk the single largest political spender in the shortest period of time.

Half of the PAC’s money came in the final weeks of the election and in the weeks following the election, and by Nov. 25, the PAC only had $2 million left in the account, according to the FEC.

Much of the money was spent on direct mail, canvassing and phone calls, the PAC’s filing showed.

The filing also showed a total of nine $1 million payments given to nine individuals labeled as “spokesperson consultant,” which appeared to be the swing state voters that won Musk’s controversial daily $1 million prize.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner sued the PAC in October contending Musk was running an illegal lottery in Pennsylvania.

Common Pleas Court Judge Angelo Foglietta denied an injunction request a few weeks later after an attorney for the PAC testified that the giveaway wasn’t random, despite Musk’s claims that they were.

The PAC also reported roughly $433,000 in legal bills paid to THE GOBER GROUP PLLC, according to the FEC.

A new filing showed that Musk was the sole funder of a pro-Trump super PAC named RBG PAC, giving $20 million to the group in the final weeks of the election. The PAC used the initials of former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and ran online ads featuring women who claimed Trump would endorse potential national abortion bans.

Trump has long boasted about his role in ending Roe v. Wade by taking credit for nominating three of the six conservative justices who voted to overturn the case in 2022.

Clara Spera, Ginsberg’s granddaughter, chastised the PAC in a statement to the Washington Post stating it “has no connection to the Ginsburg family and is an affront to my late grandmother’s legacy.”

Earlier in the election cycle, Musk had written big checks to groups supporting House and Senate GOP, including $12.3 million to two super PACs supporting Senate GOP candidates, and another $1.3 million supporting other down-ballot Republicans, according to FEC filings.

In all, Musk spent at least $273 million in support of various Republicans up and down the ballot at the federal level.

Musk has been tapped to co-lead, along with Republican businessman and failed presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, an outside advisory board called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to cut as much as $2 trillion from the federal budget of what they called waste.

The pair met with Republican leaders on the Hill Thursday to discuss their proposals including removing remote work options for federal workers.

Caelan McDonald is making nearly £15,000 thanks to a £150 Christmas gift

A 17-year-old who is raking in almost £15,000 a month has opened up about how his life has changed thanks to a simple Christmas present from his mum.

Caelan McDonald’s life was about to change forever when he was gifted a £150 Cricut Joy by his mum Karen Newsham, 49, two years ago.

It’s essentially a digital drawing, cutting and printing machine, which is currently on sale through various Black Friday deals.

The Cricut Joy is pretty versatile as it can cut through a variety of materials, including vinyl, fabric, cardstock and adhesive sheets.

Small in size, the device is able to make cards, invitations, labels and such.

However, in 2022, Caelan used it to print transfers which he stuck on glassware and acrylic. After he started sharing them on Facebook he got commissions for personalised items.

At the start of the year, he was selling 200 personalised items a month, creating each product at home, working three hours a day after school. He’s now quit school to invest in bigger industrial printers.

Since July, he’s sold a whopping £74,000 worth of products on TikTok shop and other platforms.

The teenager is now a full-on entrepreneur, working 16 hour days, six days a week, and on track to make £100,000 worth of sales by the end of the financial year.

His best line for Christmas is a bauble featuring personalised angel wings.

“It’s 100 percent the best Christmas present I ever got – it’s the gift that keeps on giving,” he said.

“I never imagined it would get to this point.

“If you’d have told me last year that this would happen I’d have just laughed.

“It kind of started accidentally.

“In June I thought ‘I’ll just give it a try’, and it’s gone crazy.

“Now I’m so busy I hardly ever stop.

“The last few months have gone so fast it feels like they’ve been about two seconds.

“I just invest everything back into the business, but it’s nice to be able to update my phone or iPad when I want or need to.”

Caelan currently sells 2,500 a month, with individual transfers selling between £1.20 and £3.50, and £100.

He purchased a £4,000 UV printer in January 2024 and has since invested £30,000 in two more printers.

Karen, who works in hospitality, said: “I’m incredibly proud of him, and so glad he’s followed his own journey.

“I worried and wanted him to stay in education, but he was very unhappy and spending hours travelling in the cold when he wanted to be working.

“By June he had a really clear idea of what he wanted to do so we took some advice and I thought it was worth letting him try.

“He’s always been entrepreneurial. He’s great at selling, and listening and responding to his customers, and knowing what’s on trend.

“He’s extremely hard working and he’s certainly taught me a lot.”

The change impacts tonight’s (7 December) episode

Ant and Dec have announced a major change ahead of the penultimate episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here – and fans are not happy.

The grand finale of the ITV reality series is now in touching distance, with just four celebrities remaining in the jungle and ready to take on the iconic Celebrity Cyclone trial.

However, fans who are keen to not miss out watching the action live might want to double check their Saturday evening plans, as hosts Ant and Dec have confirmed a major change to this evening’s schedule.

What time will I’m A Celeb be airing tonight (7 December)?

I’m A Celeb… famously has the primetime 9pm slot, allowing the show to pull in as many viewers as possible without ending too late for anyone looking to turn in early for the night.

However, tonight’s penultimate episode has been pushed back half an hour in order to accommodate the reboot of the apparently classic gameshow You Bet! (no, I haven’t heard of it either), with Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby.

The altered schedule means that I’m A Celeb will now start at the slightly later time of 9:30pm and finish at 10:35pm. A half an hour pushback doesn’t seem like too big of a deal in the grand scheme of things; after all, it is a Saturday night.

Well, fans are nonetheless upset by the change.

“9.30pm start tomorrow gunna be a late night,” one person complained on X, while another added: “9.30??? PM??? You’re having a laugh.”

Who are the final four contestants on I’m A Celeb 2024?

For those willing to fight off sleep for that extra half an hour, the penultimate episode of I’m A Celeb… will likely be a must watch of the season.

Following the double elimination of podcaster GK Barry and soap actor Alan Halsall, that leaves Coleen Rooney, Reverend Richard Coles, Oti Mabuse, and Danny Jones are this year’s final four celebrities.

The group will spend the episode taking on the famous Celebrity Cyclone challenge – which is arguably one of the highlights of the entire season – before one more camper is sent packing ahead of Sunday’s grand finale.

Unhappy with how the eliminations have gone this year? A psychotherapist recently explained why fan favourites such as Tulisa and Maura Higgins fell short of making it to the final episodes.

Speaking to LADbible about viewer reactions to eliminations, psychotherapist James Lloyd put the surprising eliminations down to a combination of the ‘bystander effect’ as well as ‘the sheer diversity of likeable personalities this season’.

The debut of the edible creation entitled "Comedian" at the Art Basel show in Miami Beach in 2019 sparked controversy and raised questions about whether it should be considered art -- Cattelan's stated aim.

Chinese cryptocurrency businessman Justin Sun, who last week purchased a $6.2 million art piece consisting solely of a banana duct taped to a wall, ate the banana on Friday in a move he bragged about on social media.

“Many friends have asked me about the taste of the banana,” Sun wrote in a post on X alongside a video of him eating the multimillion-dollar Maurizio Cattelan piece called Comedian.

“To be honest, for a banana with such a back story, the taste is naturally different from an ordinary one. I could discern a hint of what Big Mike bananas from 100 years ago might have tasted like,” said Sun, the founder of the cryptocurrency platform Tron.

Big Mike bananas — a common translation of the flavorful Gros Michel banana variety — were once ubiquitous and have now become virtually impossible to find.

Sun wrote that as thanks to Shah Alam — the 74-year-old Bangladeshi fruit stand employee who originally sold the banana for just 25 cents — he would purchase 100,000 bananas to be distributed for free to Alam’s customers.

Speaking to the New York Times, however, Alam noted a number of logistical issues with Sun’s proposal.

The profit on bananas is relatively low, Alam told the paper — only about $6,000 on a purchase of 100,000 bananas. And Alam is an employee of the fruit stand, not its owner.

His salary of $12/hour during his 12-hour workday, which affords him a shared basement apartment in the Bronx, would not be affected by a bulk novelty sale.

This is not Sun’s first venture into multimillion-dollar bids. In 2019, he won a $4.8 million bid to have lunch with Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. In 2021, he put up $28 million to be among the first passengers on Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft, though that trip was ultimately canceled.

The Aquaman actress, 38, is already a mother to a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige, who will soon become a big sister.

News of the pregnancy was revealed by Amber’s representative, who told People: “It is still quite early in the pregnancy, so you will appreciate that we do not want to go into much detail at this stage.

“Suffice to say that Amber is delighted both for herself and Oonagh Paige.”

Amber welcomed Oonagh on April 8, 2021, and shared the news of her daughter’s birth three months after she was born.

She told her followers on Instagram that she had “decided I wanted to have a child” four years prior and “wanted to do it on my own terms”.

Amber added at the time: “I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.

“I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”

Amber has kept her followers updated with sporadic posts about Oonagh, keeping her daughter largely out of the limelight and calling herself “just the mom and the dad”.

The actress had previously been married to Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, however, their relationship ended with a much-publicized court case.

Johnny had sued Amber for defamation in a live-streamed trial in Virginia over the summer of 2022, with the jury deciding in his favor.

The case had come about after Amber had written an article about being the victim of abuse, and though she hadn’t named her ex specifically, Johnny’s camp had argued it was implied that her claims were about him.

Following the contentious legal battle, Amber later moved overseas to Madrid, Spain, where she now lives a quieter life outside of Hollywood.

After the trial, she told NBC News’s Savannah Guthrie in June 2022 that she was looking forward to focusing on her family, adding: “I get to be a mom, like, full time, you know? Where I’m not having to juggle calls with lawyers.”

Sources told the outlet that her decision to move to Spain was because she found the scrutiny around the trial “overwhelming”, explaining: “The trial was beyond stressful, and she wanted to start fresh.”

They added that Amber “has new energy and is focused on things that she loves,” while another source commented: “She’s independent and smart. She needs to heal.”

An American woman whose case sparked misinformation about immigrants eating pets has been sentenced.

Allexis Ferrell, 27, was convicted after authorities in Canton, Ohio, reported she had attacked a cat.

On August 16, Canton police responded to a call about a woman reportedly smashing a cat’s head with her foot and attempting to eat it, as reported by BBC News.

Officers found blood on Ferrell’s feet and fur on her lips.

Ferrell is a U.S. citizen, and the incident occurred about 170 miles (270 km) from Springfield, Ohio, home to a significant Haitian community.

The case was among several cited in false online narratives accusing Haitian immigrants of harming pets.

These rumors gained traction on social media and were eventually echoed by President-elect Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.

During a September presidential debate, Trump stated: “In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in, they are eating the cats.”

When pressed by CNN, Vance defended the claims, saying they were based on “first-hand accounts of my constituents” but did not provide evidence.

He also remarked: “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

Despite Ferrell’s U.S. citizenship, online posts falsely described her as an immigrant, fueling anti-Haitian rhetoric.

Canton Police clarified to the BBC that they had “not dealt with any complaints of Haitian immigrants at all.”

Similarly, Springfield Police refuted the claims, stating: “There have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.”

Ferrell pleaded guilty to charges of cruelty to companion animals and was sentenced on Monday.

Additionally, she received an 18-month sentence for violating probation linked to a prior child endangerment conviction.

During sentencing, Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione expressed outrage.

“This is repulsive to me. I mean, that anyone would do this to an animal. I can’t express the disappointment, shock, [and] disgust that this crime has brought to me,” he said.

Despite the unfounded allegations, officials and community leaders in Springfield have worked to dispel the rumors, emphasizing the Haitian community’s contributions and the lack of credible evidence supporting the claims.
