The series has an almost-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes

People are raving about a Netflix series, and it’ 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes backs up the positive reviews.

Netflix has over 2,500 TV series and, while choice is great, sometimes having too much choice can be an problem as well.

We’ve all endlessly scrolled through the streaming platform in a bid to find the perfect show, but fellow TV fans have done the hard work for you and found your next watch.

With the buckets of content Netflix adds to its service on a weekly basis, there’s a chance you might have missed some of its old (but gold) content — one example being this series from 2019.

Natasha Lyonne stars as the lead in the series (Netflix)

Called Russian Doll, the series stars Orange is the New Black favorite Natasha Lyonne.

The synopsis for the series, as per IMDb, reads: “A cynical young woman in New York City keeps dying and returning to the party that’s being thrown in her honor on that same evening. She tries to find a way out of this strange time loop.”

Anyone else getting Groundhog Day vibes?

Season one dropped in 2019, with a second following suit in 2022.

In the years since its debut, people have taken to Rotten Tomatoes to rave about Russian Doll, with one viewer hailing it as ‘hidden gem’.

Giving it five stars, they penned: “Bit of a ‘hidden’ gem in the way that I’ve never heard anyone really talk about it even though it’s been on Netflix’s front page.

“Witty, thoughtful, great acting and dialogues. I went in with no expectations and happily surprised.”

Another said of the show: “This mind bending comedy-drama is as addictive to watch as it is cleverly twisted, in all the best ways though.”

Someone else gushed about Russian Doll and Lyonne’s performance, writing: “Probably the most impressive TV show I’d seen in a long time. Excellent writing and Natasha Lyonne is amazing.”

Meanwhile, another fan went as far as branding the Netflix series as a ‘perfect masterpiece’.

Further noting that Russian Doll hasn’t been on people’s radars enough, a different reviewer said that it’s series ‘that deserves way more recognition’.

In regards to a third series of the well-loved show, it’s yet to be confirmed if it’s happening.

Addressing the matter last year, Russian Doll director Leslye Headland told Collider: “I haven’t heard anything [about season three happening].”

She went on: “I don’t know if it’s because Natasha’s doing Poker Face now. I don’t know if it’s gonna become a schedule thing, but I haven’t heard anything from Netflix about it.”

Brian Laundrie’s parents break silence following release of Netflix documentary about Gabby Petito’s death

American Murder: Gabby Petito is currently available to watch on Netflix

Brian Laundrie’s parents have spoken out following the release of Netflix docuseries American Murder: Gabby Petito.

The devastating killing of 22-year-old Gabby Petito at the hands of her fiancé Brian Laundrie is currently back in the headlines thanks to the release of Netflix’s new series which promises to delve into the details behind her final days.

In August 2021, US vlogger Petito and Laundrie were stopped by police in Moab, Utah following reports of a domestic disturbance. The pair were separated by police for one night.

Two weeks on from the altercation and Petito would be declared missing, while Laundrie quietly returned home to his parents’ house in Florida, with the last sighting of the pair together being in the state of Wyoming.

Her body would later be recovered near local camping spot, with her death confirmed to be strangulation and blunt force trauma.

A month later, Laundrie’s remains were recovered alongside a confession note stating that he’d killed Petito. His cause of death was determined to be suicide.

Following the release of American Murder on Netflix, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie have now issued a statement via their attorney Steven Bertolino, claiming the three-part series is inaccurate.

“The documentary was what we expected,” Bertolino’s statement read. “One perspective depicted as the ‘truth’ as seen through their lens. Similar to Republicans and Democrats fighting it out lately. Each side believes their perspective is correct. Hard to see through the lens of the other with all the noise and distrust.

“The documentary contained many inaccuracies, incorrect juxtapositions of timelines, and misstatements and omissions of fact — perhaps deliberate to capture their ‘truth’, perhaps due to simple error.

“We all know Brian took Gabby’s life and Brian then took his own as well. Let the parents of both Gabby and Brian mourn and remember them in peace.”

Director Julia Willoughby Nason, who was part of the team who worked on the series previously told TODAY that Laundrie’s parents had been approached about to documentary but declined to be involved.

“They didn’t want to participate, and we respect that. This is a very difficult story,” she said of their decision.

Meanwhile Petito’s family have since spoken out about the documentary – which tracks the story of the 22-year-old’s disappearance through interviews, video footage and text messages – revealing they struggled with the use AI to recreate her voice in the documentary. It’s understood that Petito’s parents had consented to the use of AI to recreate her voice.

“I think it’s weird and because we know her actual voice, [it] is a little off. It’s just hard to hear,” Nichole Schmidt told the Independent of the decision.

Father is desperately trying to change legal name of his toddler called 'Unakite Thirteen Hotel’

The child received the bizarre moniker due to an unfortunate mix up

A US father is desperately trying to get his young daughter’s name changed after a bureaucratic mix-up means she is currently ineligible for healthcare.

For most parents, naming their little one should be the culmination of weeks spent scouring baby books and crossing names off of lists.

But for Nebraska father Jason Kilburn, his young daughter’s name has proven to be an absolute nightmare for both parent and child.

Due to a legal error, Jason Kilburn's daughter is legally named Unakite Thirteen Hotel (KETV)

Due to a legal error, Jason Kilburn’s daughter is legally named Unakite Thirteen Hotel (KETV)

Born in November 2022, Kilburn’s daughter is called Caroline Elizabeth but is listed in legal records as Unakite Thirteen Hotel.

So how does a child end up with a birth certificate with reads Unakite Thirteen Hotel in the first place?

According to Kilburn, the unusual moniker is a ‘computer generated name’ created during the complicated events of her birth.

Caroline was born in the neighbouring state of Iowa and immediately placed into foster care after her birth. Kilburn, who’d been in an on and off relationship with the child’s mother, later learned of her existence and sought custody.

According to an interview Kilburn gave to NBC News, Caroline’s mother doesn’t have any rights over the child and also faces allegations of neglect and drug problems.

However, the issues didn’t end with Kilburn gaining custody of Caroline.

Instead of a birth certificate, Caroline had been given a certificate of live birth – a document which records that a person is medically alive – which precedes a full birth certificate – where she’d been named Unakite Thirteen Hotel.

Kilburn is still trying to get his daughter’s name changed, as she is currently without a birth certificate and social security, and is therefore ineligible for healthcare.

“It’s like she’s a ghost,” he explained to the outlet.

“It’s been very, very taxing.”

The mix-up has also placed financial strain on Kilburn, as a check-up with the doctor currently cost him hundreds of dollars.

“It’s not like I’m trying to pull something here,” Kilburn said of the limbo Caroline was in.

“This is stuff she’s entitled to as any American is.”

Kilburn is currently working with an attorney to hopefully resolve the matter, who described his situation as ‘a circuitous, bureaucratic loop’.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has since responded by telling NBC that children’s information is ‘confidential’, but added that they are working with Kilburn the matter.

“DHHS is working with the child’s father’s attorney to resolve this issue. The Department cannot go into any further detail,” the statement read.

“Each state is responsible for all vital events that happen within the state including births and deaths as well as the registration of the event, the certificate, and any amendments or corrections needed.”

John Lithgow's casting as Dumbledore confirms Harry Potter series will break major JK Rowling rule

Could the Hogwarts be getting a transatlantic cast?

John Lithgow’s casting as Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series has already broken a major rule of JK Rowling’s when it comes to bringing the Wizarding World to life.

After months of speculation, Lithgow seemingly confirmed that he would be taking on the role of the Hogwarts headmaster in an interview with ScreenRant, saying he was ‘very excited’ for the challenge.

“It was not an easy decision because it’s going to define me for the last chapter of my life, I’m afraid. But I’m very excited,” Lithgow said, adding that he’ll be 87 at the end of the series.

The news is yet to be confirmed by series creator HBO, who told the outlet ‘will only confirm details as we finalise deals‘, however, Lithgow’s confirmation follows months of speculation that he’d been linked to the role.

Fans have also been quick to point out that Lithgow playing the Hogwarts professor will break one of the rules which author JK Rowling had the adaption of the films — which was to have a cast of exclusively British actors.

The rule was confirmed by casting director Janet Hirshenson, who previously told Huffington Post in an interview that Robin Williams had been turned down due to his American nationality.

“The ‘only British’ rule was so important that Robin Williams was even turned down to play Hagrid…Robin had called [Columbus] because he really wanted to be in the movie,” he explained.

“But it was a British-only edict, and once he said no to Robin, he wasn’t going to say yes to anybody else, that’s for sure. It couldn’t be.”

The role of Rubeus Hagrid would famously go to Robbie Coltrane.

However, eagle-eyed viewers will be quick to point out the ‘100% British rule’ wasn’t exactly accurate, given the fact that numerous stars, including Evanna Lynch, Domhnall Gleeson and Devon Murray, all hail from Ireland.

Two US stars would also end up making it into Harry Potter, with Eleanor Columbus and Verne Troyer playing the role’s of Susan Bones and Gringotts Bank goblin Griphook respectively.

Zoë Wanamaker, who plays the role of Quidditch teacher Madam Hooch, was also born in the States but grew up in the UK.

Griphook would end up being voiced by Filius Flitwick actor Warwick Davis to get around the US accent issue, while Columbus – who is the daughter of director Christopher Columbus – was limited to a non-speaking role. She would later be played by Emma Jayne-Corboz in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Columbus would later open up on his daughter’s brief cameo in the film, revealing that she worked for around 80 days.

“She worked about 80 days. But she never spoke because you know the rule was if you’re not British, you can’t speak,” he said.

Fortunately, Lithgow will have plenty of experience to draw upon when getting into character, as he previously used a British accent, while playing Winston Churchill in The Crown.

Aimee Lou Wood granted career-first control by intimacy coordinator before her age gap sex scene aired

Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood is currently starring in The White Lotus

Aimee Lou Wood experienced a career-first with the control she was given by an intimacy coordinator before her age gap sex scene aired this week.

Perhaps best known by many for playing Aimee Gibbs in Sex Education, the 30-year-old is currently starring as Chelsea in the third season of The White Lotus.

She’s the partner of Rick (Walton Goggins), as the pair seem to be on odd terms with one another as they turn up for a ‘holiday’ at the Thailand resort. But towards the end of Monday’s (24 February) episode, we got to see a bit of a softer side to their relationship.

During earlier parts of the two episodes so far, the couple with a 22-year-old age gap, seem to bicker with the very positive Chelsea often calling him ‘old’ and ‘grumpy’.

But in this sex scene, things are far more gentle and intimate as the Wood’s character sits atop of Goggins as he pulls down her top.

With the actor nude on camera, he slowly undresses her, stroking and kissing her breast before they start kissing as it cuts to the next scene.

And Wood has since opened up about filming the scene as she said the intimacy coordinator, Miriam Lucia, followed her and Goggins’ lead.

“She’s so informed by us. She’s like, ‘You tell me your vision for this scene, and I will make sure that we can execute that in a safe way where everyone’s happy,’” the star told ELLE.com.

So, the actors essentially ‘designed’ their characters’ sex scenes in the show with Wood saying intimacy coordinators’ are ‘absolutely essential’ on set.

When it came to playing Chelsea and Rick, the Daddy Issues star explained: “We were like, ‘This is what we think should happen. This is why we think it’s important.’

“Because we don’t see a lot of tenderness from Rick to Chelsea the rest of the time.”

She added that they wanted to make sure when the characters are physical and intimate, that we get to ‘see the love’.

“We don’t want it to be like a fucking gratuitous [sex scene]. We wanted it to be very tender,” Wood said.

The actor then had a career first when Lucia showed her the scene afterwards to get her approval.

Recalling the conversation with the intimacy coordinator, Wood explained: “[She said,] ‘I just want you to watch it. And I want you to know that if you are not happy, we can change it.’

“That was the first time that had ever happened, that someone had straight away been like, ‘Come in this room and watch it.’ She’s like, ‘Obviously it’s your body.’ It’s still a big deal. Nudity is still a weird thing.”

Plus, creator Mike White offered to cut anything out that the star wasn’t comfortable with.

You can watch The White Lotus on Sky Atlantic and NOW, with new episodes airing on Mondays.

Jack Black reveals what ‘Tenacious D’ means and where he got the band name from while ‘high with Kyle Gass’

‘I think we were just really stoned’

If you’ve ever been curious as to how rock duo Tenacious D got their name, then prepare to be enlightened.

School of Rock legend Jack Black and musician Kyle Gass formed the duo in 1994 – and the rest is history…

Their world tour was dramatically canceled last year when Gass made an ill-judged jibe about Donald Trump’s assassination attempt while on stage in Sydney, Australia.

With future ‘creative projects’ put on hold, Black reassured fans the duo would reunite ‘when it feels right’.

More than six months on, Gass appears to be taking matters into his own hands, having announced a 14-date European tour this spring.

He’ll be joined by guitarist John Konesky and vocalist Mike Bray – so no sign of a Tenacious D reunion just yet.

Anyway, if you reckon you already know the origin of the duo’s moniker, then think again.

Despite what their 2006 movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny claims, sadly, the duo weren’t born with matching butt cheek birthmarks, forming their iconic name. I hate to be a killjoy…

However, I’m sure fans won’t be fazed to know the rock-n-roll duo came up with the name Tenacious D while ‘really stoned’.

A few years back, Black sat down with US sports journalist Bill Simmons on his Grantland show and told him how the name Tenacious D was actually conceived.

He said: “We were deep into the Lakey lakes [LA Lakers] in the late 80s and early 90s, and we were jamming a lot at Kyle’s apartment and watching basketball and jamming and getting high, and we were thinking ‘what would be the best name for a band?'”

He continued: “And for some reason we were laughing so hard at the idea of a band being called Tenacious D.

“[Commentator Marv Albert] would say ‘playing some tenacious defense’, I don’t know if he ever said ‘tenacious d’, we might have made that abbreviation for him.

“I just think we were really stoned.”

So, the name actually means tenacious defense – with tenacious meaning ‘to keep a firm hold of something’, of course.

In fact, the band let the audience of their first ever live show pick their name – kind of.

As an opening act at Al’s Bar, Los Angeles in 1994, Black and Gass gave concert-goers the options of: Tenacious D, Pets or Meat, Balboa’s Biblical Theater, or the Axe Lords Featuring Gorgazon’s Mischief.

While Tenacious D never won the public vote, Black reportedly admitted to ‘pushing it through’ anyway.

If Gass’ favorite had been picked, the band would be known as Axe Lords Featuring Gorgazon’s Mischief.

Doesn’t quite have the same ring as Tencious D, though, does it?

Ruby Franke was convicted on four counts of child abuse last year

Warning: This article contains discussion of child abuse which some readers may find distressing

Chad Franke, the eldest child of convicted child abuser Ruby Franke, has spoken out for the first time about his childhood with the former YouTuber.

Franke, 43, and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt were convicted of four counts of aggravated child abuse. The pair were arrested in August 2023 after Franke’s son, who was then 12-years-old, escaped through a window and fled to a neighbour’s house.

Both Franke and Hildebrandt will serve between one to 15 years for each count they were convicted of.

Ahead of the release of expose documentary Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, which premieres on Hulu on 27 February, Franke’s eldest son Chad and ex-husband Kevin have spoken out about their experience in a new interview with PEOPLE.

“I definitely hate the things she did,” Chad said, revealing that he currently has no contact with his mother and ‘doesn’t plan to anytime soon’.

While he doesn’t rule out having contact with Franke in the future, the 20-year-old added that she wouldn’t ever be a mother or grandmother figure in his life.

“It’s hard,” he said. “But when I go home, I [don’t] feel like anyone’s missing… it doesn’t feel wrong not having her in my home and that’s okay. I feel like [I’m] in a good spot.”

Chad also opened up about having to move out of his family home and away from his younger siblings. “I was also required to move out of the house and never contact my siblings and never go back home,” he explained.

The 20-year-old then revealed that concerned neighbours had reached out and offered to buy him a car after noticing he was relying on a bicycle in order to get to school and work, an offer he was told to decline by Hildebrandt.

“Jodi, she wanted my to live a very physical, straining and mental straining life while I was out there,” Chad explained, clarifying that he was 17 and living alone at the time. “That was her mindset when it came to repentance… That was a really hard year, physically and emotionally.”

Chad is second of Franke’s children to speak publicly about his experience with the mum-of-six, with eldest child Shari previously speaking out about what it was like to grow up in-front of the camera

Recalling how events such as buying her first bra were captured on camera, Shari said: “I was 18, and we went bra shopping, and she was filming it, I was like, ‘This is kind of weird and inappropriate’.”

Woman who dismissed 'harmless' ulcer down to being run down given shock cancer diagnosis

Woman who dismissed 'harmless' ulcer down to being run down given shock cancer diagnosis

It took weeks before she learnt the reason why

A woman who had dismissed a ‘harmless mouth ulcer’ ended up receiving a shock cancer diagnosis.

Helen Keough had noticed the ulcer underneath her tongue last summer and believed it was due to her being ‘busy and run down’.

Explaining it ‘just felt like ulcer pain’ without ever considering it could be a sign of cancer, she said she’d been to the pharmacy for it and it ‘kept going for a bit and then coming back again’.

However, the 44-year-old began to get concerned when it didn’t just clear up after a few months. She says the GP told her to go to the dentist, where they filed her teeth down as it was thought they were irritating her tongue.

“But four weeks later it was getting so much worse,” Keough explained. “It got to the point where it was waking me up at night and it hurt to eat. It was just so sore. I was losing weight at the time and was very tired.”

She was then referred to hospital for a biopsy but claims she had to wait to receive her results, revealing the sore was in fact a tumour.

“By the time I got my results and was told it was cancer, it had been four weeks,” the Chelmsford woman said. “I didn’t fall apart or anything, it was very much ‘what are we going to do next?’ I didn’t really understand how aggressive it could be.”

Keough then sought a second opinion at a private hospital, where she was told it was stage-two tongue cancer and she needed to have her lymph nodes removed.

She ended up undergoing an operation to have 6cm of her tongue removed followed by a recovery period where she needed to learn how to talk and eat again.

“The surgery was extremely hard to get through. Because tests show this cancer has a very high chance of coming back, they want to give me radiation just in case anything was left behind,” the woman added.

She now urges others to advocate for themselves (Kennedy News and Media)

Having ended up undergoing a tracheotomy and skin graft surgery to make a new flap for her tongue, she is now urging others to always advocate for themselves.

“Radiation for head and neck cancer is life-altering, more so than surgery,” Keough said. “If the GP, dentist, or hospital had done their job, I could’ve had this dealt with straight away and not been at the stage of facing radiation.”

The woman reckons if she hadn’t gone for a second opinion, she ‘would’ve been dead within a year or two’.

So, claiming she was ‘let down at every turn’, she added: “Now I’m telling everyone if you spot anything in your mouth that doesn’t go away naturally in a few weeks to go to your GP.”

Diane Sarkar, Chief Nursing and Quality Officer for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are very sorry that Helen’s care fell below the standard she should expect. We are in contact with her and investigating the issues raised. This is an open complaint and we continue to keep Helen informed and are providing support.”

Large bruise on Donald Trump's hand explained as worrying photo sparks health fears

Not even the fake tan could hide this one

A large bruise spotted on Donald Trump’s hand has been explained after fears for the president’s health went viral.

At 78-years-old, Trump is currently the oldest president to be inaugurated in the White House, beating his predecessor Joe Biden by around 160 days. Trump would regularly make fun of Biden’s age and capability to lead the country – frequently referring to him as ‘Sleepy Joe’ – however it would appear the former businessman may not be immune to the effects of aging either.

Rumours began to circulate about whether or not the 78-year-old was as fighting fit as he claimed after a large bruise was spotted on his hand during a meeting with French leader Emmanuel Macron this week.

Trump met with the Macron in the White House’s Oval Office on Monday (24 February) to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine; however many people were more intrigued by the large discolouration on the president’s hand and wondered if his body was already showing strain from leadership.

“Some photos over the lasr [sic] few months show bruising on Trump’s hand. Maybe bruising from an iv. Always seems to be on the same hand,” one person wrote on X.

“That’s the kind of IV bruise you get when you’re on blood thinners. What are they pumping him with,” a second person questioned, while a third wrote: “This is the second time I have seen this. Are they hiding something?”

Meanwhile others were quick to point out that Trump is close to 80-years-old and that older people bruise easily due to thinning skin.

To be fair my grandma also has bruises on her hands at age 79 and has had them for years. It’s just something that happens when you’re old and trump is OLD,” a fourth person weighed in.

Concerns over the bruise have since made their way back to the ears of the White House, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt claiming the injury was down to the fact that Trump is a busy man.

“President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other president in history,” she said, via LBC.

“His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day.”

“President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day,” she added in a second statement.

Trump is certainly no stranger to a crushing handshake, with the US president going viral once again after being photographed awkwardly grappling with his French counterpart’s hand during their meeting.

The star was performing his new love track

Viewers are slamming Will Smith for an ‘inappropriate’ act with singer India Martínez onstage.

The pair were performing their song ‘First Love’ with Marcin at the Premio Lo Nuestro awards on 20 February in Miami as they got pretty up close and personal.

While Will has been married to Jada Pinkett Smith for over 27 years, she revealed in 2023 that the pair have actually been separated since 2016.

The star said it isn’t ‘a divorce on paper’ and remain married but are in more of a ‘partnership’.

But fans still think it’s ‘inappropriate’ for how flirty his performance was with Martínez at the Spanish-language awards show which honours Latin music.

Will danced up close to the star for the romantic song, in an appearance that really had the energy of a noughties R&B performance of a singer and rapper teaming up.

And it’s probably important to remember, it was a performance, and in that sense, a performance featuring an actor.

The Fresh Prince star seemed to be in his element with the Spanish singer who, at one point, kept singing into the mic as she placed her hand on the back of his head, pulling his face in close to hers.

Some viewers reckon the pair kissed at this point, but it does seem like Martínez was still singing, so it would have had to be a very, very quick peck.

Fans said he was ‘living life’ and they ‘love to see it’ as one commented: “Go ahead Will live your life bro!”

And in one backstage snap, the singer seemed to have jumped into Will’s arms, wrapping her legs around his waist as he hugged her back and smiled.

But this didn’t sit right with everyone, as some fans said it was ‘inappropriate’ and said he’s ‘the worst’.

However, one pointed out: “This man is an actor and has kissed plenty of women who is [sic] not his wife, he is a paid entertainer this is legit his job.”

Plenty defended the allegation they ‘kissed’ too, as they said: “If you actually look. You can tell the attempt was a joke. They never actually kissed. The 2nd attempt when she came back still no kiss he leaned his forehead down as to get their lips further apart and backed away.”

While others joked: “We Don’t Talk About Jada – We just Watch Will’s Newest Entanglement Live!!”
