Excitement quickly ramped up for a Gallagher-themed announcement while some even joked it was the doomsday for the brothers to split up again.
But it’s actually the reunion of another iconic pair as LADbible can exclusively announce James Buckley and Joe Thomas as Liam and Noel in Oasis: The Reunion: The Movie.
Complete with some serious brows, slightly dodge Manchester accents and a staple parka, the pair have got together for a very special Comic Relief sketch.
Probably a little less serious and a whole lot funnier than what Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is whipping up for the actual brothers’ tour, James and Joe will also be joined by a host of stars as they replicate those famous faces.

Announcing the Red Nose Day sketch today (17 March), this exclusive first look photo is undeniably a comically uncanny mirror of the one shared by Oasis when they announced their reunion last year.
And it’s been an ‘amazing’ thing for the pair to get to do – especially James.
“I don’t think I’ve made any secret of the fact that I’m an Oasis super fan,” he says. “So, getting to be Liam Gallagher for the day is my ultimate fantasy really.”
Although, there’s been one big hurdle for the stars – those pesky, unshakeable, Gallagher brother essential, Manc accents.
“I’m not good at any northern accents, not good at accents whatsoever – I can barely do my own,” James jokes.
The cast had a group meeting to help create the sketch so people could ‘throw out some ideas’ and while he usually ‘never has any ideas’, he figured he needed to chip in.
“The only thing I did say was that we need to maybe include a joke that acknowledges how bad the accents are.”
Although, Joe says that’s not been helpful for him, as his accent is even worse than James’.
Questionable accents aside, though, it’s been a bit of a treat for the stars to do an Oasis and have their own little reunion for Comic Relief – and is of course a treat for us fans too.
They do admit it’s ‘weird’ being back together again but they’re both ‘used to it’ and used to each other’s weirdness.
“I love how weird you are, and any excuse to do something with you, I’m always up for,” James tells his co-star, who adds: “We don’t really get an opportunity to.”

Well, even if we’ll have to keep waiting for that reunion, at least we’ve got the two of them back together for this upcoming Comic Relief sketch.
And ramping up the funny, they’ll be joined by an impressive list of cameos from Vernon Kay, Mickey Flanagan, Melvin Odoom, Tasha Ghouri, Martin Lewis, Roisin Conaty, Hugh Dennis and even Piers Morgan will be popping up as a Ticketmaster villain.
