Wade Wilson looks a lot different these days than he did in his 2019 mugshot

This article contains discussions of violence which some readers may find distressing.

A string of shocking images show the dramatic evolution in the appearance of ‘Deadpool killer’ Wade Wilson since his arrest in 2019.

The double murderer, who shares a name with Ryan Reynolds’ popular Marvel character, is currently on death row in Florida.

The inmate was sentenced to death after being found guilty of murdering Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, on 7 October, 2019.

Wilson, 30, horrifically strangled Melton to death at her home in Cape Coral, Florida, before stealing her car and later luring Ruiz inside of the vehicle after he asked for directions.

He then strangled the 43-year-old, hurled her out of the car, and ran her over repeatedly.

Wilson then continued his crime spree by attacking his former girlfriend, Melissa Montanez, 41, until he eventually called his father to confess.

He was arrested the following day and has remained behind bars ever since, but now sits on death row awaiting execution after 10 out of the 12 jurors voted for him to receive the death penalty.

It’s been more than five years since Wilson was first arrested, and the killer looks unrecognisable in new images which have been circulating of him.

When he was first apprehended by authorities, Wilson sported a few tattoos on his neck and arms, but he didn’t have any on his face (see the above picture).

But by the time he was put on trial for the murders of Melton and Ruiz, he had a host of terrifying inkings – including a Joker-like mouth tattoo, the digits 666, the words ‘Bred for war’, and swastikas.

Wilson’s lawyer Kevin Shirley explained last year that his client had ‘created his appearance while in custody awaiting trial’.

“He has never expressed his reasons,” Shirley told Newsweek. “Mr. Wilson is very intimidating but he also appreciates good representation.”

Regardless of the new inkings which cover Wilson’s skin, the killer looks drastically different these days in comparison to his 2019 mugshot.

A series of selfies which he took on a tablet given to him during his time at a Lee County jail from 2023 to 2024 have emerged, according to the New York Post.

The snaps were shared online by vlogger Melissa Jade on YouTube and these images were obtained via a Freedom of Information request, according to the Daily Mail.

The outlet reports that the prison-issued tablet takes a photo every time the inmate uses it – and in one, Wilson is seen sporting significantly longer hair while a thick bandage is wrapped around his forehead.

He appeared to sport shorter hair and looked bloated in another, while he was also missing some teeth.

It was previously reported that Wilson was receiving thousands of messages from admirers while behind bars, while public records stated that authorities had to reject 163 ‘inappropriate’ images from senders.
