This A-list actor and his ex-girlfriend, Varunie Vongsvirates, were together for nearly five years. The details surrounding their split remain private, but it’s known that she worked as a business development representative for American Addiction Centers.
Even before the little girl was born, questions arose about her parentage. In June 2018, while Vongsvirates was pregnant, the actor voluntarily took a paternity test. The results indicated that he could not be ruled out as the father.
Lyla’s Birth
Vongsvirates shared her pregnancy journey with the world on Instagram. In June 2018, she posted an ultrasound picture, revealing her daughter’s name would be Lyla and that she was due in three months.
Despite the paternity test, the actor remained distant. In November 2018, an insider revealed to Us Weekly that he was refusing to meet his daughter. The source claimed that he had even gone to court to state he wanted no visitation or custody of her.
While the official paternity test results were kept private, Vongsvirates remained hopeful that her ex-boyfriend would eventually form a connection with their daughter.
As Lyla grew, her resemblance to the actor became even more apparent. Vongsvirates occasionally shared photos of her daughter on Instagram, and the likeness was undeniable.
In one picture from November 2019, Lyla’s light-colored hair and the shape of her eyes were strikingly similar to the actor’s. Another post, celebrating Lyla’s third birthday in October 2021, further highlighted the strong family connection.
Years passed, and the situation remained unchanged. In a 2021 interview with the Daily Mail, Vongsvirates revealed that the actor still hadn’t met Lyla. She shared that she had pleaded with him to be a part of her life to no avail.

Active Role in His Sons’ Lives
While Wilson remained absent from Lyla’s life, he was actively involved with his two sons. In an August 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he spoke about the boys, then aged 11 and 8, and how he shared custody and attended their sporting events.

Years earlier, in a 2017 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” he proudly showed off photos of his boys in costumes and discussed his parenting style.
Owen Wilson described himself as a bit old-fashioned because he placed great importance on manners. He even shared a picture of his goddaughter, London. However, he made no mention of Lyla.
The actor’s decision to remain uninvolved in his daughter’s life is puzzling in comparison to his public embrace of fatherhood with his sons. It’s also an unfortunate reality for Lyla, who is denied a relationship with him, but ultimately, Wilson has a right to choose his future.
