The mammoth Rogfast tunnel is scheduled to open in 2033 and will become the world’s longest and deepest road tunnel – costing £36billion, the project will half the time it takes to drive across a crucial European route Work to construct the world’s longest and deepest road tunnel is underway – and it’s set to cost a whopping £36billion.

The record-breaking project, dubbed The Rogfast, is currently pencilled for opening in Norway in 2033. The 16mi, 1,300ft-deep underwater route will run between the municipalities of Randaberg and Bokn in Rogaland county, in turn making travel between Norway’s southern and northern cities much easier.

Currently, Randaberg and Bokn are separated by a large body of water. You can only cross between the two on a ferry. In linking these two places with an underwater road, the Rogfast will half the amount of time it takes to travel across Norway on the E39 coastal highway.

The E39 highway between Kristiansand and Trondheim currently takes 21 hours and stretches 680mi. This project will shave off just 30mi but will save 11 hours by cutting out the need for ferries. The Rogcast will help millions of people commute to the cities of Stavanger and Bergen, situated along the E39 highway. Despite being the world’s longest and deepest underwater tunnel, it will take just 35 minutes to drive across it.

According to The B1M, the Norwegian government will fund around 40% of the project. The rest is to come from a £30 toll on the underwater road, with 6,000 vehicles expected to use it every day.

Rogfast project manager Oddvar Kaarmo said: “The port at Mortavika is quite exposed and in the winter, ferries sometimes have to divert to another port.

“Once the tunnel is finished, we will not have to rely on good weather to keep the roads open. About half a year after the last drill and blast, we have to deliver the project, so we have to get a lot of work done simultaneously. It’s more about logistics than tunnelling.”

Norway’s Lærdal tunnel is currently the longest underwater road in the world. It spans 15 miles and connects the municipalities of Lærdal and Aurland in Vestland county, crucially providing a ferry-free route between the capital Oslo and Bergen. It cost nearly £90million to complete and was opened in 2000.

Visitors can drive through it and take in the fjord in Flåm before returning via the Aurlandsfjellet plateau on the Snow Road between Aurlandsvangen and Lærdalsøyri. the road is said to be quite a journey.

Work has already begun on the project

Travel guides and experts from Visit Norway say this is an opportunity not to be missed.

It was lauded by tourism bosses on the site who said: “This is an opportunity to experience the mountain from both outside and in! If you have time, you should visit the 800-year-old Borgund Stave Church in Lærdal, one of the most visited and photographed stave churches. ”

Sarah’s family have spoken out to raise awareness

A mother-of-two suddenly died earlier this year after taking ‘skinny drops’ to combat weight loss caused by a previous cancer battle.

Sarah Thompson, 34, from Connah’s Quay in Wales, was tragically found dead at home by her teenage daughter in September.

She had been recovering from throat cancer, which led her to struggle with her weight.

Sarah was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and had her voice box removed, leaving her needing a tube in her neck to help her breathe.

As a result, it became difficult for Sarah to exercise and she started to feel ‘depressed’ about how she looked, her sister Gabriella revealed to ITV News.

Sarah began looking into weight loss drops after failing to meet the NHS eligibility criteria for licensed weight loss medication, leading her to discover ‘fat burning serum’.

She purchased the drops during the summer and very quickly shed over four stone, giving her ‘a lot more confidence’.

But five weeks after Sarah began taking the drops, she became unwell, suffering with vomiting and struggling to keep down food or liquid.

Days after these symptoms occurred, Sarah was found dead in her bed by her 16-year-old daughter.

Gabriella said of her sister’s tragic passing: “I wouldn’t wish this pain upon anyone. My sister was young, she was 34-years-old. She had her whole life ahead of her, she had so many things planned. She had ambitions – but she’s not going to be able to do that.”

Sarah’s loved ones are still waiting for test results to confirm the official cause behind her death, but believe the drops were to blame.

Her family have certain the 34-year-old would not have taken the drops if she knew the risks involved.

Gabriella said: “As much as she wanted be skinny, I don’t think she would’ve taken them if she knew exactly what was in them, and there was a risk of her never seeing her children again. I know she wouldn’t have.”

North Wales Police told ITV News that they attended at the time of the report and have submitted all necessary paperwork to the coroner.

A government spokesperson said: “Every death from the misuse of drugs is a tragedy for those who have lost their lives, our thoughts are with their friends and families.

“Through our mission driven government, we will take preventative public health measures to tackle the biggest killers in society – including drug misuse – and better support people live longer, healthier lives.”

REPORT: Elon Musk Emerges As Front-Runner

Elon Musk looking on.

Elon Musk (Kent Nishimura/Getty Images)Elon Musk has emerged as a betting favorite to take over as the new owner of a struggling AFC franchise.

After winning the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump named Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy the co-leaders of the Department of Government Efficiency. As if the Tesla, Inc., X/Twitter and SpaceX head man isn’t busy enough as is.

Of course, a prominent and influential business figure like Musk can never be too tired to add more expenditures to his lifestyle. He has an estimated net worth of over $300 billion, after all.

According to the latest betting odds at Bovada, Elon Musk now has the second-best odds to replace Woody Johnson as the owner of the New York Jets. Johnson has owned the struggling AFC East squad since 2000. According to Forbes’ valuations for 2024, the team is worth $6.9-billion.

Johnson has become the target of criticism amid a disastrous 2024 Jets season that was full of hope. But the first healthy season with Aaron Rodgers has been a disaster, with the Jets near the NFL basement at 3-8.

Though Johnson hasn’t expressed any interest in potentially selling the Jets, it only takes one can’t-miss offer. And with over a quarter of a trillion dollars in his bank account, Elon Musk could easily give Johnson a lucrative offer that couldn’t be turned down.

Elon Musk As The Jets Owner Would Be Can’t-Miss Content

Musk is one of the most polarizing figures in the world, especially ever since he acquired Twitter and re-branded it to “X.” Now imagine if this man became the owner of a big-market NFL team like the Jets, who have been a non-stop circus since their last playoff appearance in 2020.

It’s safe to say that the vast majority of Jets fans would welcome a change in the ownership chair. Would they want someone like Musk in charge? It depends which Jets fan you ask, but the headlines would really write themselves.

Riley Gaines recently reacted to a high school student protest against the alleged presence of a trans athlete. The students have been penalized for their protests by the school administration.

A few weeks ago, a student at Martin Luther King High School lost her varsity spot to an athlete who is reportedly a biological male. The students protested against the school administration by wearing T-Shirts that proclaimed ‘Save Women’s Sports.’

Gaines reacted to this development by posting on her Instagram story. She wrote:

“Crazy that students are being punished for what 99% of people know to be true….. Keep standing tall @jadeynn_lynn and the other MLK HS students!”

Gaines also posted a short description about what the protesting MLK High School students had to face.

“Heartbreaking.

– MLK HS compared a shirt two girls wore that said “Save Girls Sports” to wearing a swastika

– 150+ students wore the same shirt to school to support the girls

– The school punished the students by issuing dress code violations & barring them from attending class

Riley Gaines has been campaigning for the exclusion of trans athletes from women’s sports since 2022. She initially gained public attention for her campaign against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who tied with Gaines for fifth place at the 2022 NCAA Swimming Championships.

Recently, Riley Gaines had organized a ceremony for a high school volleyball team for boycotting their match. Stone Ridge Christian High School had boycotted their divisional volleyball tournament game against San Francisco Waldorf over the reported presence of a trans athlete on the opposing team.

A month later, Gaines met with the students, expressing her support for their decision. She posted on her X timeline:

“3 weeks ago, Stone Ridge Christian School in CA BOYcotted their state championship semifinal match because the opposing team had a male, prematurely ending their season. Today, I spoke to the student body & honored their courage. 100% of sane people recognize them as champions.”

Gaines posted another tweet, where she added:

“They may technically have a loss on their record, but 100% of sane people recognize them as the true champions. #BOYcott”

Previously, Riley Gaines had supported the campaign against the San Jose State Spartans over the presence of Blaire Fleming, who is reportedly a transgender. Gaines supported the five educational institutions that boycotted their matches in the NCAA Mountain West Conference League over the presence of Fleming.

He said he ‘blacked out’ in a rage

An unhappy customer was caught on camera crashing his new Subaru through the front doors of a car dealership in a rage on Monday, with the incident since going viral.

The Utah man, identified as Michael Lee Murray, ploughed his Subaru Outback into the Tim Dale Mazda Southtowne dealership in Sandy earlier this week in an apparent stand-off with the dealership after staff refused to honor his demands.

The footage shows the car careering through the doors and into a reception desk while staff narrowly dodged its path and flying shards of glass.

Tyler Slade, platform manager at the store, told KUTV it ‘sounded like a bomb went off’ when the car came smashing through the glass.

The video which has been shared on social media shows the aggravated 35-year-old driver got out of the vehicle, shouting: ‘I told you motherf*****s’, as he slammed the car door.

Staff members could be heard discussing calling the local police department to which Murray said: ‘Call the cops, they got nothing’.

The team said the crash made a loud 'explosion' (

KUTV)

The man removed his jacket, rolled up on his sleeves and seemingly attempted to leave the shop before coming back to ask if there was ‘anybody under the car’.

When it was determined there was no one trapped under the Subaru, Murray took his jacket and walked out.

Staff were then tasked with turning the car off – and faced the messy aftermath as the store was littered with debris, estimated to cost thousands of dollars of damage.

The violent outburst came as the disgruntled customer purchased the car and attempted to return it just hours later.

He demanded his money back and reportedly told police that the dealership sold him ‘a lemon’, Newsweek reports.

The man was visibly angry (

KUTV)

It was when his refund request was denied by the team that the peeved man warned staff he would drive the Subaru through the front doors, and that’s just what he did.

However, Murray said he was driven to such extreme measures in a blind moment of rage and hinted to Inside Edition he might have some regret over how he handled the spat.

Murray explained: “I was just really angry, I was upset about my money.

“I kind of blacked out for a second.

“I know I probably shouldn’t have done it but I guess I hit a breaking point.”

Sandy police booked Murray into custody at Salt Lake County Jail where he was charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanours for reckless endangerment and economic interruption.

In the booking affidavit obtained by Newsweek, officers wrote his vehicle ‘was completely inside the building’ and wiped out the store’s front doors with it, leaving ‘glass shattered all around’.

Fragments of the door and door frame also hit and damaged another car in the shop, with the carnage estimated to be around $10,000.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the crash, though employees reported having to dodge the oncoming car.

Murray was released from custody on Tuesday.

Elon Musk reveals that his relationship with actress Amber Heard

Nothing hurt Elon Musk more, according to his biographer, than his relationship with Amber Heard. Even more than his tense relationship with his father, billionaire Elon Musk claims that his relationship with actress Amber Heard caused him the greatest pain.

Elon Musk’s biographer said the most painful thing in the billionaire’s life was his relationship with Amber Heard.

Walter Isaacson said on Kara Swisher’s podcast that “nothing hurt him more than that relationship.”
Isaacson said the relationship was fraught with “storm and turmoil” that was “part of the attraction.”

Elon Musk’s biographer said the billionaire’s relationship with the actor Amber Heard hurt him the most — even more than Musk’s fraught relationship with his father.

“The storm and turmoil that both sides tell me about, this is not a matter of dispute, that was part of the attraction,” Walter Isaacson said on the latest episode of the “On With Kara Swisher” podcast. “Part of the theme of this life is this person is attracted to drama and storm. When things are calm, he surges — he buys Twitter or whatever. So, this is true of the relationship with Amber. Nothing hurt him more than that relationship.”

Musk and a lawyer for Heard did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Musk and Heard dated on and off after bonding at the 2016 Met Gala. They took their relationship public in April 2017 before announcing their breakup a few months later. They continued seeing each other after their split before breaking up again in 2018.

Isaacson spent two years shadowing Musk for the biography, which hit shelves last week.

The book described a “psychological turmoil” in many of Musk’s romantic relationships. It recounted Musk’s and Heard’s first meeting: She asked if she could visit SpaceX a year after the two worked on the action film “Machete Kills,” Heard as a star and Musk as a consultant.

Isaacson also documented the explosive fights in their relationship, writing, “She and Musk would stay up all night fighting, and then he would not be able to get up until the afternoon.”

In the biography, Heard said she loved Musk “very much” but that “Elon loves fire and sometimes it burns him.”

When Isaacson asked Musk to explain his tumultuous romantic history, the billionaire replied, “I am often a fool, but especially for love.”

The Canadian musician Grimes, Musk’s ex with whom he shares three 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, told Isaacson for the biography that Musk “associates love with being mean or abusive” in part because of his relationship with his father, Errol Musk.

Musk has said his father bullied and demeaned him throughout his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood. In 2017, he told Rolling Stone his father was a “terrible human being” who had done “almost every evil thing you could possibly think of.”

Errol Musk has denied berating his son.

Musk’s first wife, Justine Wilson, to whom he was married from 2000 to 2008, has spoken about their relationship.

“There is a combative element to him,” she told Isaacson. “I don’t think you can be in a relationship with Elon and not argue.”

“When you’re from a dysfunctional background or have a brain wired like his,” Wilson told Isaacson, “intensity takes the place of intimacy.”

In a move that has stunned fans and  celebrities alike, Oprah Winfrey, the queen of media, has announced her plans to leave the United States following her upcoming appearance on The View. The 70-year-old media mogul, who has long been a household name in the U.S. for her influential talk show and philanthropic work, revealed her decision in an exclusive interview earlier this week, citing a mix of personal and professional reasons for the drastic move.

Oprah Winfrey Gives Surprise Speech at DNC Night Three

A Surprising Announcement

The news came as a shock to millions of her followers who have seen Oprah as a permanent fixture in American culture. Known for her career-defining The Oprah Winfrey Show, which ran for 25 years, and her ongoing ventures in the entertainment and business industries, Oprah’s decision to leave the country has sent waves through the media world.

In a brief statement made after announcing her participation in an upcoming episode of The View, Oprah explained that the combination of growing international projects and her desire for a more peaceful life had led her to consider leaving the U.S. for good.“After much reflection, I’ve realized that it’s time for me to embrace a new chapter,” Oprah shared. “I’ve had the privilege of a remarkable career in America, but the next step for me involves focusing on the global community in a more hands-on way.”

The ‘View’ Appearance: A Key Moment

Oprah’s appearance on The View, set to air next month, has fueled much of the speculation surrounding her decision. The popular daytime talk show, known for its diverse panel of co-hosts and hard-hitting discussions on current events, will provide Oprah a platform to share insights about her life, career, and future endeavors.

But while her appearance is highly anticipated, many believe it might mark a pivotal turning point in her career, one that could signal her shift away from mainstream American media. Speculation has arisen that Oprah’s decision to leave the U.S. is tied to a desire to focus on expanding her philanthropic and media projects abroad.

“I’ve always believed that the world is much bigger than the borders of one country,” Oprah said during the interview. “I’ve spent my life in service to others, and I think it’s time to take that mission globally.”

The Global Focus

Oprah has hinted at a growing interest in international projects, particularly in regions where she feels her influence could make a significant difference. From her work with educational programs for young women in Africa to her international book club, Oprah has already shown a deep commitment to causes beyond the U.S.

Sources close to the media mogul have suggested that Oprah is eyeing several new ventures in Europe and Asia, particularly in countries that are experiencing rapid social and economic growth. “Oprah’s been feeling like she needs a change in perspective,” said a source familiar with her plans. “She’s always been someone who seeks out new opportunities to learn and grow, and the next chapter of her life may involve being a global citizen in ways that we haven’t seen before.”

A Mixed Reaction

The announcement has drawn mixed reactions from both fans and industry insiders. Supporters of Oprah have expressed understanding and admiration for her decision, praising her for continuing to follow her instincts and expand her horizons. Many of her followers on social media have wished her well and expressed excitement over her new direction.

However, some critics argue that Oprah’s departure from the U.S. marks the end of an era for American  television and media. Oprah has long been a symbol of American success and influence, and her exit from the U.S. could signal a larger trend of cultural figures distancing themselves from the country’s current political and social climate.

“It’s sad to see her go, but at the same time, she’s earned the right to do whatever she wants with her life,” said one fan. “She’s been a powerful voice for women, for equality, for change. If she feels it’s time to move on, we have to respect that.”

What’s Next for Oprah?

As Oprah prepares for her The View appearance, the world will be watching closely to see what comes next for the media mogul. Her legacy in American media is undeniable, but her decision to leave the U.S. may signal a new phase of her life that focuses more on global impact and less on American fame.

Oprah has said she will continue her media ventures in some form, but she plans to focus less on American television and more on international collaborations. Whether it’s through global philanthropy, new television projects, or her ever-expanding network of connections, Oprah’s next moves are sure to leave an indelible mark on the world.

For now, fans can look forward to her appearance on The View, where Oprah will likely shed light on her decision to leave the U.S. and offer a glimpse into what the future holds for her beyond the American media landscape.

As Oprah embarks on this new journey, one thing is certain: no matter where she goes, her impact will continue to resonate around the globe.

Algeria’s Imane Khelif, left, fights Italy’s Angela Carini in their women’s 66kg preliminary boxing matchJohn LocherAP

The controversy surrounding the Algerian boxer, Imane Khelif, continues to rage on at the 2024 Olympic Games as Riley Gaines weighs in by saying her fights are, “glorified male violence against women.”

Khelif, who was banned from a previous boxing competition after being told she has XY (male) chromosomes, has been permitted to compete by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) although the board has not revealed which categories were met.

Despite being born female, the Algerian welterweight is said to have unusually high testosterone as part of a disorder of sexual development, which can also cause women to have XY chromosomes too.

So Khelif has been very controversially received and she won her first fight under controversy too as Italy’s Angela Carini quit inside 46 seconds of the first round and Gaines, vocally against transwomen in female sports, has quickly reacted.

“After 46 seconds and a few hits to the face by a male, Carini forfeited the fight,” Gaines, who is opposed to trans athletes in sports, posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “Call me crazy, but it’s almost as if women don’t want to be punched in the face by a male as the world watches and applauds.

“This is glorified male violence against women.”

Gaines added: “Carini broke down in tears and explained in an interview that she had never been hit so hard before. Heartbreaking. She’s a hero to all for backing out.”

Why did Carini quit the fight?

Khelif, who has nine losses through 54 fights, delivered two sharp punches to Carini‘s face within 30 seconds of the first round and immediately the Italian walked away to head to her corner and tried to fix her headgear.

The bout then resumed but Carini withdrew and handed Khelif the injury and said in the post-fight that she never felt a punch like the one her opponent has delivered before at the North Paris Arena in the 154lb weight category.

“I wasn’t able to finish the match,” Carini told BBC reporters. “I felt a strong pain to my nose, and I said [to myself] for the experience that I have and the maturity as a woman that I have, I said I hope my nation won’t take it badly.

John LocherAP

“I hope my dad won’t take it badly – but I stopped, I said stop for myself. It could have been the match of a lifetime, but I had to preserve my life as well in that moment.”

“I didn’t feel afraid, I don’t fear the ring. I don’t fear taking the blows. But this time there’s an end for everything, and I put an end to this match, because I wasn’t able to [continue].”
