Miss Teen USA Kadance Fredericksen Dies at 18 – Details

A bright future full of promise was cut short when a devastating crash claimed the life of a teenage girl, leaving her community in shock and mourning.

Kadance Fredericksen, the reigning Miss Teen USA and a high school senior from Baker, Florida, has tragically passed away at 18. She was killed in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in Santa Rosa County on Monday afternoon (February 17, 2025).

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the Munson area on Highway 4 at Hurricane Lake Road.

Fredericksen’s vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer driven by a 56-year-old man from Milton, who sustained minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that Highway 4 at Hurricane Lake Road was temporarily shut down following the accident.

Officials advised motorists to seek alternate routes while the Florida Highway Patrol conducted its investigation. There is no estimated timeline for when the road will fully reopen.

Fredericksen, a student at Baker School, was set to graduate soon. Just a week before the tragic accident, she shared on Instagram that she had received a scholarship.

In her February 7 post, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity, writing, “I am incredibly grateful to be selected as a recipient of this year’s Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation $40,000 Scholarship. This generous support will help shape my future and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams.”

Beyond her achievements in pageantry, Fredericksen dedicated her life to helping children in need. During an interview in April 2024, she shared the mission behind her initiative.

“‘Kada’s Promise’ is my organization I started in 2017 to deliver teddy bears and blankets to children who are abused, neglected, or homeless, to be able to provide them that comfort and support that they need and deserve,” expressed Fredericksen.

Fredericksen’s commitment to this cause was deeply personal. She revealed that she, too, had suffered from abuse and neglect at the hands of her biological mother and stepfather.

“When I was little, I was abused and neglected by my biological mother and stepfather. During those times, the only thing I had to call my own was a stuffed animal I received as a gift years beforehand,” she said. “Now that I’m in a safe home with a safe family, I learned I wasn’t the only kid that went through that.”

Her organization’s website details her journey, explaining how she endured hunger, homelessness, and grooming as a young child.

Her biological father and stepmother later gained custody, providing her with a loving and stable home. In 2017, her stepmother formally adopted her, and she joined her older sister and baby brother, finally feeling safe and valued.

Fredericksen believed that small acts of kindness could make a difference in a child’s life. She explained the significance of teddy bears, saying, “To me, a teddy bear means a friend that is always there no matter what. It symbolizes security, comfort, and hope.”

Her efforts through “Kada’s Promise” had a global reach. By 2024, she had distributed more than 12,000 teddy bears and blankets to children facing trauma.

In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, she teamed up with Miss World Wide International, Kirsten Regalado, to send 300 teddy bears to the Philippines.

Her dedication to service extended beyond her nonprofit. In 2024 alone, she logged 210 hours of volunteer work. Her commitment was widely recognized, and in 2019–2020, her hometown of Crestview awarded her the title of Citizen of the Year for her outstanding contributions to the community.

Fredericksen’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As news of her tragic death spread, tributes poured in from her school, pageant community, and family, all honoring the remarkable young woman she was.

Baker School, where Fredericksen was a senior, expressed their grief in a heartfelt Facebook post on February 18, 2025.

“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the tragic loss of Kadance Fredericksen, an exceptional young woman, senior at Baker School, and founder of ‘Kada’s Promise,'” Principal Michael J. Martello wrote.

The post highlighted her impact on the community, calling her a “beacon of light” known for her kindness and tireless advocacy for children in need.

The school acknowledged the emotional toll of her passing and assured students and staff that counseling services would be available to support them during this difficult time.

The Miss Florida USA pageant organization also paid tribute to her in an Instagram post, calling her “a true light in this world.”

They described her as “ambitious, driven, kind, and a leader among her pageant sisters.” The post encouraged the community to cherish each day and honor Fredericksen’s memory by continuing to spread the warmth and positivity she embodied.

“Forever our Queen,” the message concluded, alongside a dove and prayer emoji.

Her family also shared their heartbreak, revealing to News 5 that Fredericksen had recently been accepted to nine colleges and dreamt of becoming a veterinarian.

They described her as “absolutely perfect” and someone with “the whole world at the palm of her hands.”

Her untimely passing has left her community in mourning. As investigations continue, family, friends, and supporters remember Fredericksen for her achievements, ambitions, and the bright future ahead of her.

Aaliyah

Aaliyah’s life was tragically cut short on August 25, 2001, when a plane she was traveling on crashed shortly after takeoff in the Bahamas. At the time, the singer was on the island to film the music video for her song “Rock the Boat.”

The small Cessna plane, which was carrying Aaliyah and eight other passengers, crashed moments after departing Marsh Harbour Airport. The aircraft was reportedly overloaded with luggage, and there were concerns from the ground crew about the excessive weight.

Despite these warnings, the passengers insisted on bringing their belongings and the plane took off. Dr. Giovander Raju, the pathologist who performed autopsies on Aaliyah and several of the other victims, testified at a coroner’s inquest in Nassau.

He revealed that Aaliyah had died from severe burns and a blow to the head caused by the crash. “Aaliyah went into such a state of shock, even if she had survived the crash, recovery would have been near impossible,” Dr. Raju stated.

His findings also indicated that Aaliyah had a generally weak heart. Additionally, there were several theories about Aaliyah’s condition before boarding the flight.

Witnesses claimed she was not feeling well on the day of the flight and had complained of a headache. It was also reported that she had been given a pill, and after taking it, she fell asleep before boarding the plane.

Mara Schiavocampo, a senior investigative correspondent, recounted, “She was so deep in sleep that she may not have even been aware that she was on the airplane.”

In the aftermath of the crash, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) revealed that the plane’s pilot, Luis Morales III, was not authorized to fly the aircraft.

Morales had falsified his qualifications, and it was discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics at the time of the crash.

The investigation pointed to several factors that contributed to the crash, including an unauthorized pilot, an overloaded plane, and the pilot’s impairment. The findings only deepened the tragedy, as the accident was ultimately preventable.

Aaliyah’s death sent shockwaves through the music world, leaving fans and colleagues devastated. She had accomplished so much at 22 and was on the cusp of even greater success.

She emerged as a major force in R&B during the 1990s. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Detroit, Michigan, her smooth voice and charismatic stage presence made her a standout.

Her debut album, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number,” released in 1994, helped launch her into stardom. The album, produced by R. Kelly, introduced Aaliyah’s unique blend of sultry vocals and youthful charisma, but it also sparked controversy due to her personal relationship with R. Kelly.

Kobe Bryant

On the morning of January 26, 2020, Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and six other passengers boarded a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.

They were on their way to a youth basketball tournament at Kobe’s Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, about 85 miles away.

Along with them were assistant basketball coach Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and her daughter, Payton, and baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter, Alyssa. The flight was piloted by Ara Zobayan, an experienced aviator who had flown Kobe on previous trips.

Fifteen minutes after takeoff, the pilot requested clearance to enter Burbank airspace despite poor visibility. Thick fog covered the area, forcing him to ask for special visual flight rules (VFR) permission, which allows pilots to navigate through low-visibility conditions.

Air traffic congestion required the helicopter to circle for 11 minutes before being allowed to proceed north toward Van Nuys Airport. As they continued flying, the clouds remained dense, making navigation more difficult.

At approximately 9:44 a.m., the aviator told air traffic controllers that he was climbing to 4,000 feet to get above the cloud cover. However, instead of gaining altitude, the helicopter slightly ascended before banking left and rapidly descending.

One minute later, it crashed into a hillside, killing everyone on board. The National Transportation Safety Board determined that the accident resulted from spatial disorientation, a condition where a pilot loses awareness of their actual position.

This phenomenon can make a pilot believe they are climbing when they are actually descending. Anthony Brickhouse, a former NTSB investigator, described the dangers of flying in poor visibility.

“When you have clear skies and good visibility, you can see what you need to see. But unfortunately, when you’re in clouds, sometimes physiologically, your brain, based on your inner ear, you kind of get confused,” he noted.

Investigators closely examined the weather that day, compiling a 394-page meteorological report. Photos and videos showed heavy fog and low clouds covering the hilltops, limiting visibility.

Both the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Police Department had grounded their own helicopters that morning due to unsafe conditions.

Despite this, the pilot proceeded with the flight. Lawsuits later filed by Kobe’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, and other victims’ families argued that the helicopter should never have taken off under such dangerous circumstances.

While the Sikorsky S-76B had a strong safety record and had previously carried the basketball icon — who sent one of his last messages to fellow baseball icon Nancy Lieberman — on multiple occasions, it lacked key safety features.

The helicopter did not have a flight recorder or a terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), which alerts pilots when they are dangerously close to the ground. The Federal Aviation Administration requires TAWS in medical helicopters but not in commercial ones like the one Kobe was flying in.

On February 9, the NTSB held a hearing to discuss the crash and to consider recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future. The loss of Kobe, his daughter, and the other passengers devastated fans worldwide, serving as a heartbreaking reminder of the risks of flying in unsafe conditions.

Lech Kaczyński

On April 10, 2010, a plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczyński, his wife, Maria, and several senior political, military, and cultural leaders crashed while attempting to land in western Russia. There were no survivors.

The tragedy shocked Poland, as it claimed the lives of many of the country’s most influential figures in an instant. Lech had been a controversial figure both in Poland and on the world stage.

His conservative views appealed to many traditionalist and rural voters, helping him secure the presidency in 2005 as a candidate for the Law and Justice Party.

For a time, he and his twin brother, Jarosław Kaczyński, held significant power in Poland’s government, with Lech as president and Jarosław as prime minister from 2006 to 2007.

Born in 1949, Lech’s political career took shape in the late 1970s when he joined the anti-government movement. He and his brother were instrumental in helping Solidarity leader Lech Wałęsa win Poland’s first post-Communist presidential election in 1990.

However, their alliance with Wałęsa later dissolved due to political disagreements. The crash not only took the life of Poland’s president but also left the nation reeling from the loss of many of its top officials. The impact of the tragedy extended beyond Poland, influencing its political landscape and relations with Russia.

John F. Kennedy Jr.

John F. Kennedy Jr. died on July 16, 1999, when the plane he was piloting crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. The accident also claimed the lives of his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, 33, and her sister, Lauren Bessette, 34. John was 38 years old.

That evening, John planned to fly from New Jersey’s Caldwell Airport to Martha’s Vineyard, where Lauren would be dropped off. From there, he and Carolyn intended to continue on to Hyannis Port to attend the wedding of his cousin, Rory Kennedy.

Earlier in the day, he had spent time at the office of his political magazine, George, before meeting Lauren at 6 p.m. for the drive to the airport. Carolyn arrived separately by car service. By the time the plane took off at 8:38 p.m., the sun was setting, and the hazy conditions had worsened.

John was flying a Piper Saratoga, a more advanced aircraft than the Cessna he had previously piloted. Though he had begun instrument training, he was not yet qualified to fly using only cockpit instruments — a crucial skill for navigating poor visibility.

As he followed the coastline of Connecticut and Rhode Island, conditions remained challenging. When he began his descent toward Martha’s Vineyard, his flight pattern became erratic, a sign of spatial disorientation.

Experts later determined that John had likely entered what is known as a “graveyard spiral,” a deadly phenomenon where a pilot, unable to see the horizon, unknowingly enters a downward spiral.

“The airplane makes a spiral nose down…kind of like going down a drain,” explained Jeff Guzzetti, president of Guzzetti Aviation Risk Discovery. “The plane went into one final turn and it stayed in that turn pretty much all the way down to the ocean.”

The aircraft crashed into the water roughly seven miles from Martha’s Vineyard. The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that the accident was caused by John losing control of the plane due to spatial disorientation, with haze and darkness contributing to the disaster.

Guzzetti later reflected on the tragedy, saying, “In the end, it’s a cautionary tale for any private pilot to understand your own personal limitations.”

It is believed that John and Carolyn faced numerous challenges within their marriage, which became more pronounced in the weeks and days leading up to their tragic death.

One significant stressor was the impending death of John’s closest cousin, Anthony, who was battling cancer. John was also struggling to secure new financing for his political magazine.

Carolyn, on the other hand, grappled with the challenges of living in the global spotlight. John had grown used to media attention throughout his life. However, she found the constant surveillance invasive and terrifying at times.

“‘When will we stop having to have every night be about going out to promote the magazine or look for advertisers?’ And [John] felt like, ‘When are you going to be able to handle the press, because it’s not going to go away?'” she continued.

There were rumors of infidelity and lingering resentment, including Carolyn’s reported frustration with the fact that John had never introduced her to his mother before she died on May 19, 1994.

Attending Rory’s wedding in Hyannis Port was supposed to be a final bid to mend their strained relationship. Sadly, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette never made it.

Users React to Picture Hanging Outside the Oval Office

Eagle-eyed netizens spotted a surprising detail in President Donald Trump’s redecoration of the Oval Office. A framed newspaper cover featuring his Georgia mugshot has sparked criticism and debate online.

During a recent gathering between President Trump and other politicians, an image on a wall outside the White House’s Oval Office caught public attention. The framed newspaper photo left some netizens in shock.

According to the New York Post, the image — a mugshot of Trump — appeared on the publication’s front page. The 47th president has faced legal troubles, which led to the infamous booking photo, yet he appeared unfazed by its display.

The publication speculated that Trump might view the mugshot as a source of motivation as he embarks on his second term. The image is displayed in the office of his secretaries, located between the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room.

It hangs in an area frequently used as an entrance for guests. The sight of the mugshot drew strong reactions from netizens, including one who approved of the display, writing, “Oh yeah love it. This should be on a stamp 👏👏.”

Sharing the same sentiment, another person added, “Now that’s having a good sense of humor!! 👏😂.” Meanwhile, an Instagram user described the move as “Epic!!!!! 😂😂.” However, not everyone was impressed. A Facebook user commented, “I wouldn’t want that on display.”

Others were more critical, including one who remarked, “Omg. We live in a time in which we are proud of the things we should be ashamed of.” An unimpressed observer stated, “I would expect nothing less from him,” while another, confused by the choice, asked, “But why?”

Dan Scavino, Assistant to the President and White House Deputy Chief of Staff, shared a video showcasing the mugshot on Valentine’s Day. His footage provided viewers with a look at the Oval Office under Trump, captioned, “WELCOME TO THE BEAUTIFUL OVAL OFFICE.”

The handout photo, initially seen on February 14, 2025, in Washington, D.C., was provided by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Trump’s mugshot was originally taken on August 24, 2023, at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, during his booking.

The day after the image was taken, the president defiantly shared the mugshot alongside a link to his website. In April 2023, he appeared in court to face a 34-count felony indictment. The charges were partially related to his involvement in a scheme to suppress allegations of extramarital affairs that surfaced during his first White House campaign.

Trump is the first former US president to face criminal charges. In early January 2025, he was sentenced to no punishment in his hush-money case, allowing him to return to the White House without concern for jail time or fines.

After his January 20 inauguration, Trump began his second term by revamping the Oval Office. Among the most notable additions was the return of his famous Diet Coke button. The button allows him to summon his favorite beverage with a single press.

Columbine High School Shooting Survivor Anne Marie Hochhalter Dies – Details

A survivor of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting has died, her former principal announced.

Former Columbine High School principal Frank DeAngelis confirmed that Anne Marie Hochhalter passed away on Sunday, February 16. Anne Marie was 43.

“My Columbine Rebel Family. It is with great sadness and sorrow that I share with you that Anne Marie Hochhalter passed away … of natural causes,” Frank said in a statement to Fox News.

Anne Marie was one of 23 people injured in the April 20, 1999, attack at Columbine High School. She was shot in the back and chest while eating lunch with friends in the cafeteria. The shooting, carried out by twelfth graders Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, left 12 students and a teacher dead before the gunmen took their own lives.

Despite her injuries, Anne Marie remained active in her community and was admired for her resilience. Frank described her as a “pillar of strength.”

“She was an inspiration and exemplified never giving up,” Frank added. “Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. She will be missed but never forgotten. Rebels for Life. We love you Anne Marie Hochhalter.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Anne Marie’s passing comes after she publicly reflected on the 25th anniversary of the Columbine shooting. In an April 2024 Facebook post, she shared how this milestone had been her most healing yet.

“25 years have gone by but it doesn’t seem that long,” she wrote. Anne Marie, who struggled with PTSD, was unable to attend the 20th-anniversary ceremony in 2019 but was there for the 2024 vigil.

She described how, for the first time, she could focus on positive memories from her teenage years. “No bad memories have affected me this time. It’s like my heart has wanted to flood my mind with happiness instead of trauma,” she remarked.

She recalled moments before the shooting, such as playing basketball, watching music videos, and spending time with friends. At the vigil, Anne Marie felt connected to those lost in the tragedy, especially when the song “Over the Rainbow” played.

“I looked at the empty chairs and suddenly felt all of them sitting there, with smiles on their faces, wanting us to remember the good times. The happy memories,” she explained. “They would want us to remember and laugh at their silly goofy antics when they were alive, instead of focusing on how their lives sadly ended.”

In a 2004 interview with People, Anne Marie recounted the tragic moment at her school. She had just stepped outside for fresh air when she heard a popping noise behind her.

Moments later, she was struck by a bullet in the back, initially mistaking the pain for a paintball gun. A second bullet hit, tearing a critical vein. “I was bleeding to death,” she said. “It didn’t look bad on the outside, but inside it felt wrong.”

Quick medical intervention saved her life. The ambulance arrived just in time, and surgeons at the hospital, who had been prepared for an unrelated heart procedure, operated on her immediately. “If the ambulance had come two minutes later — even two minutes — I would have died,” she recalled.

Surviving the shooting was only part of her struggle. In October 1999, just six months after the attack, her mother, Carla Hochhalter, who had been battling bipolar disorder, died by suicide.

Anne Marie later reflected on both tragedies, drawing a parallel between her mother’s state of mind and that of the Columbine shooters. “I don’t think she knew what she was doing…which is kind of like Eric and Dylan — I don’t think they knew what they were doing,” she said.

Through the years, Anne Marie found support in her faith and meaningful relationships. One of those connections was with Sue Townsend, the stepmother of Columbine victim Lauren Townsend. Their bond provided comfort and healing. “When I look at Anne Marie…I feel Lauren smiling on me,” Sue recalled.

Anne Marie also made a public statement of forgiveness in February 2016, when Dylan’s mother, Susan Klebold, prepared to release a book and appear on the show “20/20.”

In a Facebook post, she expressed appreciation that Susan planned to donate the book’s proceeds to mental health causes, a subject that deeply resonated with her after her mother’s death.

She also recalled receiving a letter from Susan and her husband in 1999, in which they expressed deep sorrow over their son’s actions. “It was genuine and personal,” Anne Marie wrote, contrasting it with the brief, impersonal note Eric’s parents sent.

The Klebolds’ letter to Anne Marie expressed deep sorrow for their son’s actions. They acknowledged the immense pain she and her family had gone through and said they had been following her recovery. They were relieved to hear that she had been able to move to a rehabilitation facility.

Although they had never met, they recognized that the tragedy had forever connected their families. They ended by offering a heartfelt apology for Dylan’s role in the attack and the suffering it had caused her.

They also expressed their struggle to comprehend their son’s role in the tragedy. “It is still terribly difficult for us to believe that the son we knew could play a role in causing harm to you and others. The reality that he shared in the responsibility for this senseless tragedy is beyond our comprehension. We offer our love, support, and service as you and your family work to gain control over your lives,” the letter read.

Despite the pain she endured, she chose to let go of resentment. “I have no ill-will towards you. Just as I wouldn’t want to be judged by the sins of my family members, I hold you in that same regard,” Anne Marie said to Susan.

She ended her letter by emphasizing the importance of forgiveness, recalling a friend’s advice that bitterness only harms the person holding onto it. She concluded her post, “I have forgiven you and only wish you the best.”

Her story highlights the lasting impact of school shootings. Decades after Columbine, similar incidents continue, including the Antioch school shooting in January 2025, where students recounted their experiences.

In one clip Wilson shared on Instagram on January 26, her hair cascades down to her lower back. Despite the dimly lit street, the video still highlights the natural shine of her blonde hair, which is full of volume and catches the eye effortlessly.

Such clips attract fan comments, praising the hair’s beauty, as one fan wrote, “The hair 🔥🔥🔥🔥.” Curious about her secret, someone asked, “How is it so healthy or look so healthy?! Teach me ur ways.”

She captioned the post, “Brb gonna go blind my enemies with my hair ✨,” sparking admiration from fans. One excited fan envisioned her future on-screen, “Honestly, your hair looks amazing. If you’re into acting, you could play Rapunzel or Aurora (both have your hair).”

Another admirer noted“It is a literal crime you’re not starring in shampoo commercials.” Another fan declared“Your hair is magnificent.” A third user enthused“Gorgeous.”

In another recent TikTok clip, Wilson opened up about learning about her step-sibling through social media rather than from her family. However, instead of the conversation centering on her revelation, fans were once again captivated by her hair.

One person gushed“Your hair 😍” Another fan admitted“I’m so jealous of your hair length.” Lastly, another fan urged Wilson, “This is very off topic but pleaseeee make a video on how you take care of your hair it’s gorgeous and so healthy for that length [sic].”

Despite the flood of compliments about her stunning hair, Wilson has yet to reveal the secrets behind its impressive shine and volume. Fans continue to wonder how she maintains such healthy, long locks, eagerly waiting for her to share her haircare tips.

Beyond beauty discussions, Wilson has spoken about her strained relationship with her father. As a transgender woman, she has been open about their estrangement, with both addressing it publicly. In interviews and social media posts, Musk stated that she was “not a girl.”

“I lost my son, essentially,” Musk noted, adding that she was “dead, killed by the woke mind virus.” He also claimed he had been “tricked” into approving gender-affirming medical treatment for her at 16. Musk added that he was told Wilson might commit suicide.

Wilson, however, refuted his claims, describing him as an absent father who was unkind to her for being queer and feminine. She asserted that Elon Musk was fully aware of his decision when consenting to her treatment, even if he hesitated initially.

Wilson recalled that in 2020 when she was 16, she sought treatment for severe gender dysphoria but needed parental consent under California law. While her mother was supportive, she said Musk was initially resistant.

She spent months messaging him about it, but he insisted they discuss it in person. By then, she believed their relationship was already strained. When she finally met with him and presented the medical forms, she said he reviewed them multiple times, once in her presence and again privately, before signing.

She emphasized that he was fully aware of the treatment’s effects and was not misled in any way. Wilson started with puberty blockers before transitioning to hormone replacement therapy, describing the treatments as essential for her well-being and many other transgender individuals.

She expressed concern that access to such care often requires individuals to present themselves as being in extreme distress to gain approval. She felt that Musk unfairly judged her situation based on his risk perception. The expectation to prove the severity of her struggle, she said, felt deeply unsettling.

Furthermore, according to her, Musk’s remarks on her have gone too far, prompting her to speak up. “I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged, which I’m not going to do, because if you’re going to lie about me, like, blatantly to an audience of millions, I’m not just gonna let that slide,” she declared.

Wilson and her twin brother, Griffin Musk, were born to Musk’s first wife, author Justine Musk. Following their parents’ divorce in 2008, they split their time between homes in the Los Angeles area under shared custody.

However, Wilson recalled that Musk had been largely absent from her life, leaving her and her siblings in the care of their mother or nannies despite the custody arrangement. From an early age, she felt unsupported by her father, describing him as cold, quick-tempered, “uncaring and narcissistic.”

She recounted an instance during a childhood road trip, which she later realized was more of a promotional event for one of his cars. Throughout the journey, she said he frequently lashed out at her, particularly over the pitch of her voice, making her feel berated and humiliated.

Wilson also claimed that Musk pressured her to suppress her femininity, discouraging her from expressing traits he deemed too soft or delicate. Even in elementary school, she said, he urged her to deepen her voice to make her appear more masculine.

Musk hit back, claiming that Wilson was “born gay and slightly autistic.” He added that as a child, she exhibited certain stereotypes, such as a love for musicals and an enthusiastic use of the word “fabulous!” when describing clothing.

However, Wilson refuted these anecdotes, saying they were inaccurate, though she acknowledged that she displayed other traditionally feminine traits during her childhood. She also criticized her father’s portrayal of her early years.

Wilson stated that he had little knowledge of what she was like as a child because he was largely absent from her life. The limited time he was around, she said, was marked by relentless harassment over her femininity and queerness.

“He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That’s generous. He had half custody, and he fully was not there. It was just a fact of life at the time, so I don’t think I realized just how abnormal of an experience it was,” she opened up.

Wilson also expressed frustration at being reduced to a simplistic stereotype, suggesting that Musk’s comments reflected his broader views on queer individuals and children.

She described experiencing two coming-out moments in her life, first as gay in eighth grade and later as transgender at 16. Still, Wilson did not remember Musk’s reaction to her initial coming out, and by the time he learned about her gender identity, she was no longer in his household.

The pandemic had begun, and she was living exclusively with her mother, whom she credited for being a strong source of support. “I love her a lot,” she gushed.

In recent years, Musk has aligned himself with conservative politics, actively opposing policies that support transgender individuals. He announced plans to withdraw his businesses from California in response to a state law preventing schools from forcing transgender students to disclose their identities to their parents.

On X, he has repeatedly criticized transgender rights, including medical treatments for minors and the use of pronouns that differ from those assigned at birth. He has also amplified anti-trans rhetoric and supported criminalizing healthcare providers who offer gender-affirming care to minors.

Following his acquisition of X, formerly Twitter, in 2022, he removed protections for transgender users, including a policy against deadnaming. Deadnaming is the act of calling a transgender person by an incorrect name. The name could have been given at birth or one they no longer use.

In light of this, Wilson, now a college student pursuing language studies, has chosen to distance herself from him. In 2022, she legally petitioned to change her name in California, formally severing ties with her father.

The court filing read, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.” Wilson now emphasizes that she is an adult, whose life should be defined by her own choices and not her father’s.

Jack Nicholson, 87, Makes a Rare Public Appearance at ‘SNL50,’ Introducing Adam Sandler’s Musical Tribute to the Show

Netizens were pleasantly surprised to see Nicholson make a rare public appearance during “SNL50,” as the beloved star has kept away from the spotlight for some time.

On February 16, 2025, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars stepped out in style to attend “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” in New York. Seated among them in the audience was legendary actor Jack Nicholson, 87, who garnered widescale attention online for his appearance. Many social media users marveled at how long it’s been since they have seen him in public.

“The Shining” star exuded an effortlessly cool vibe as he sat in his seat, dressed in a sleek all-black ensemble that commanded attention.

Sporting a New York Yankees beret, Nicholson completed his signature look with dark, tinted sunglasses and a neatly groomed salt-and-pepper beard. The Academy Award winner radiated a laid-back charisma, smiling as he enjoyed the star-studded celebration of “Saturday Night Live’s” five-decade legacy.

Not only was he there to enjoy the show, but Nicholson also had the pleasure of introducing fellow industry heavy hitter Adam Sandler’s musical tribute.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler,” announced the film icon, which was met by applause from the crowd and Sandler, who shouted, “Let’s hear it for Jack baby! Jack made it out tonight! Love you, brother.”

The “Grown Ups” actor then began strumming his guitar and singing. He sang a comedic song about the history of “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL”) filled with humorous anecdotes from stars who have been a part of the popular sketch comedy’s story.

“Everyone in this room has something in common. All of our lives were changed by this show. Everyone in this room has something else in common. None of us were allowed to use the little bathroom in Lauren’s office,” sang Sandler.

His entire performance revealed many more memorable occurrences that have happened throughout “SNL’s” 50 seasons.

Upon seeing Jack Nicholson at the event, social media users flocked to comment sections to express themselves. “Was legit shocked. He looks way better than I thought,” asserted a Reddit user, while another chimed in with, “My jaw dropped! Like…that’s gotta be the first public appearance he’s made in years right?”

Someone else praised, “Good for him. He didn’t look like he was doing well a few years ago and now he looks like he hit the rewind button on age.”

A fellow supporter echoed a similar sentiment, “How glad I am to see him looking healthy! Been trying to check him out in google [sic] once in a while just to make sure he’s alive! Love him!!!!” More comments like this one ensued, with yet another person opining, “Jack looks pretty solid wow.”

“I was happy (and surprised) to see him! Then I looked up how old he is and it became even more special,” added someone else, while an admirer noted, “Jack looks awesome 🙌🏼.” Another fan expressed, “Nice to see Jack Nicholson looking healthy and with-it [sic] in the audience #SNL50.”

As many online viewers pointed out and alluded to, the “As Good as It Gets” talent’s appearance at “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” was particularly noteworthy because it has been quite some time since he stepped into the spotlight.

Reports from 2023 stipulated that Nicholson was so removed from the public eye that he resorted to living a secluded life of solitude in his 3,303-square-foot mansion. The estate is located on the renamed street “Bad Boy Drive,” which reportedly got its name from Nicholson, Marlon Brando, and Warren Beatty’s notorious ways.

Brando sold the property to Nicholson for $5 million in a deal completed in 2005. The outside of the home has been captured in viral photos that show the property’s perimeter and sprawling balcony and patio. However, since Nicholson steers clear of social media, very little is known about how the inside of the house looks.

Since his 2021 sighting at a Lakers game, Nicholson was spotted peering out on the balcony of his mansion. In April 2023, the actor was snapped by paparazzi while enjoying some morning air on his balcony. Images show him with messy hair and dressed in a baggy orange T-shirt and blue sweatpants as he sat on a chair looking out toward the sky.

An unnamed close friend of Nicholson’s was worried about his friend never leaving his house. The close source pleaded with Nicholson to at least “pop out” of his home from time to time to reassure his friends and family that he was doing ok.

According to the Daily Mail, the film star would sleep until 1 p.m. and drink milk to “soothe his stomach.” Nicholson also spent his days playing golf and tending to his art collection, which stayed on a property next to his house. At the time of the reports, the “Ironweed” actor remained stationed at his sprawling Mulholland Drive mansion, which he has had since the 70s.

The house boasts four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a pool. Nicholson’s family had repeatedly been attempting to get him to sell his mansion, where he lived alone. The desire had been to get Nicholson to downsize and move to a “more manageable place in Beverly Hills.”

Aside from discussing his secluded life back in 2023, reports had also indicated that Nicholson had allegedly been suffering from dementia. Friends of the Hollywood icon had expressed concern over his reclusive nature, stating they are worried about his deteriorating health.

Sources close to Nicholson had said he did not want to “face reality” concerning his rapidly declining health. “Jack and I have been friends for years, and he doesn’t leave his house anymore. I think his son and daughter are looking after him now. The Mulholland Drive community is pretty close-knit, and they are all worried about him,” voiced a source at the time.

Another close family friend of Nicholson’s confirmed the star’s youngest son to be his father’s close confidant and dependent.

“Jack’s in touch with certain relatives – especially Ray, his protégé, who he’s so proud of – but his socializing days are long gone. It’s really sad to see such a super-talented actor like Jack go out this way,” divulged the source at the time.

In January 2023, conservative commentator and journalist Bill O’Reilly weighed in on Nicholson’s dementia speculation. In a since-deleted message penned on X, O’Reilly had falsified the claims about Nicholson’s alleged diagnosis, saying that the assertions were nonsense. O’Reilly went even further to vilify the Daily Mail, calling them the worst tabloid.

Nicholson had neither confirmed nor denied the reports that came out about him concerning his health. However, years after they came out, the actor seemingly proved them wrong with his recent appearance on “SNL50,” where he looked sharp and dazzled the crowd and online viewers with his enigmatic energy and charisma.

Police in the UK are desperately trying to crack down on phone theft, after seizing 1000 stolen mobiles in a week at the start of February.

The problem is particularly bad in London, which has been branded the ‘phone snatching capital of Europe’.

Plain-clothed officers are being used in an attempt to catch thieves, as well as helicopters tracking stolen devices.

Given the significant problem, people on social media have been hunting for things they can do to minimise the risk.

And one tech expert has provided some insightful advice on TikTok.

Alex EZ, a Los Angeles-based tech reviewer, has shared five things that people can do to better protect their iPhones while they are locked.

Warning viewers, he said: “People can access things on your iPhone even when it’s locked. Let’s fix that.”

Best of all about his advice, is that it only takes five seconds.

Starting off the five-step process, Alex prompted people to go to their Settings, and scroll down to Face ID & Passcode.

He added that within that, viewers should scroll down to the section which is labelled ‘allow access when locked’, and this is where his five tips can be actioned.

Firstly, he said: “Turn off Control Centre. If someone steals your iPhone, they can quickly disable Wi-Fi and airplane mode, making it harder for you to track your phone.

“Next, toggle off Siri. Disabling it prevents others from activating Siri and asking for information and making calls.”

He then urged viewers to turn off the Reply With Message function, which enables anyone with your phone to send a text.

Alex continued: “Anyone can respond to messages from the lock screen of your phone, so turning this off keeps your conversations private.”

Next, he asked people to turn off their phone’s wallet.

He added: “Turning it off ensures no one can make payments or access stored cards.”

His final tip included turning off the Accessories function.

“This is so that unauthorised USB accessories can’t connect, which can help protect against hacking attempts using USB ports,” he explained.

But viewers and tech gurus in the comments were quick to tag on another tip to his helpful list.

One commented: “I’ve Face ID also, so no one can get into my phone; but this’s handy to have & know.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger reveals how much his shocking incest White Lotus storyline character is inspired by his family

Patrick Schwarzenegger reveals how much his shocking incest White Lotus storyline character is inspired by his family

The White Lotus actor opened up in a new interview about how his new character is inspired by his family

Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold, has spoken out about the storyline of his character in White Lotus, and how much it’s inspired by his own family.

Schwarzenegger stars in the newest season of the HBO show as Saxon Ratliff, appearing alongside Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Michelle Monaghan.

The son of the Hollywood legend has been the talk of the town after the first couple episodes, in particular due to his shocking incest storyline and full-frontal nudity in the show.

While there is of course no influence of incest within Schwarzenegger’s family, there is one aspect that played a role in influencing his character – weird rich people families.

The White Lotus focuses in large part on the uber-rich, leading an interviewer to ask what insight he got from being around people with a ‘lot of privilege, or [he was] around families that had this sort of wealth’.

He responded to this by saying: “I think there are similarities and crossovers there, except this family is so far away from what my family was growing up—or probably any normal family is.

“But whenever I read a script or a character, I always try to think about the where, when, and why about the character, and what his relationship is to different individuals, and the background and the backstory that he’s from.

“You try to think of different similarities or differences that you have in your own personal life: things you can draw on and through to bring elements of this character to life.”

He went on to address elements of the storyline he related to, saying: “There was a storyline that I related to, and resonated with, of living in the father’s shadow.

“This character had a very successful family, a very successful father.

“He worked under his father; he was always trying to make a name for himself, make a path for himself, was constantly vying for his dad’s attention and acceptance and approval.

“I wouldn’t say they’re directly the same as mine, but there are definitely elements of it that I could draw upon.”

Patrick may be predominantly known as the son of Arnie, but this is a moniker he looks set to shed as his career has begun to heat up over the last few years.

The star appeared in Gen V, Amazon’s The Boys spin-off series, which received positive reviews across the board.

In addition to this, and now The White Lotus, he is set to star alongside Al Pacino in the upcoming Billy Knight.

His role in the new season also earned him praise from his famous father.

Arnie said in a post on Instagram: “I was so pumped to take a break from filming to celebrate @patrickschwarzenegger at the White Lotus Season 3 premiere.

“What a show! I could claim to be surprised to find out he has a nude scene, but what can I say – the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Don’t miss it this Sunday – trust me.”

Jack the Ripper sent a disturbing letter to journalists in which he mocked police in London

The infamous letter written by Jack the Ripper in which he mocked police in London trying to identify him has resurfaced after his identity was reportedly ‘revealed’.

Terrifying the streets of Whitechapel in 1888, the Ripper murdered and mutilated the bodies of at least five women. Targeting prostitutes living in the slums of London’s East End, he shock and fear running through the community as darkness fell every night.

Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly were all murdered by the Ripper between the dates of 31 August and 9 November.

And while his identity has finally been revealed through a reported ‘100 per cent DNA match’, it doesn’t take away from the genuine fear he struck in to the minds of women across London during this murderous streak.

‘Dear Boss’ letter from Jack the Ripper

The seriousness of the situation was heightened when Jack the Ripper himself allegedly sent a letter to journalists at the Central News Agency in London.

Dated 25 September, 1888, it was published after the first two murders and days before the Ripper struck twice on the same night.

In it, the killer mocks police and their inability to catch him as well as reveal his sinister intentions, including mutilating his next victim and sending her body parts to detectives ‘for fun’.

The Ripper almost seems fuelled by his kills so far, saying he ‘shant quit ripping them’ until he is arrested.

What did the letter actually say?

The letter in full reads:

“Dear Boss,

“I keep on hearing the police have caught me but they wont fix me just yet. I have laughed when they look so clever and talk about being on the right track. That joke about Leather Apron gave me real fits. I am down on whores and I shant quit ripping them till I do get buckled. Grand work the last job was.

“I gave the lady no time to squeal. How can they catch me now. I love my work and want to start again. You will soon hear of me with my funny little games. I saved some of the proper red stuff in a ginger beer bottle over the last job to write with but it went thick like glue and I cant use it. Red ink is fit enough I hope ha. ha.

“The next job I do I shall clip the lady’s ears off and send to the police officers just for jolly wouldn’t you. Keep this letter back till I do a bit more work, then give it out straight. My knife’s so nice and sharp I want to get to work right away if I get a chance. Good Luck.

“Yours truly, Jack the Ripper.

“Dont mind me giving the trade name. PS Wasnt good enough to post this before I got all the red ink off my hands curse it. No luck yet. They say I’m a doctor now. ha ha.”

DNA match

It comes as researcher Russell Edwards says he has found a ‘perfect’ DNA match for the Ripper while working with Jari Louhelainen, a biochemist at Liverpool John Moores University.

The duo took a DNA sample from a shawl recovered from the scene of one of his victims, Eddowes.

Edwards said the results identified ‘Aaron Kosminski’, a barber from Poland who emigrated to London, as the man behind the murders.

He was a suspect at the time but was never formally charged.

To firm up their research, the duo located a living relative of Kosminski, who was happy to be DNA tested against the shawl. There was a positive match with Edwards now thinking he has finally cracked the case.

His legal team are now asking for an inquest to be opened to present their evidence, with the families of the victims also asking for answers.

BBC true crime doc reveals how horrific murder was solved after 35 years thanks to cigarette butt

The murder of Mary McLaughlin is the focus of a BBC documentary airing tonight

Mary McLaughlin died on 26 September 1984 and was found strangled to death in her own bed six days later.

Eventually, her murder was solved due to advancements in DNA technology and a cigarette butt left at the scene of the crime.

Her killer Graham McGill would be back behind bars the next day, but wouldn’t face justice for her death until 2021, following a DNA discovery in 2014.

She was killed at 58 (BBC)

McGill was a serial sexual offender who was out on a scheme called ‘Training for Freedom’, away for a period from his prison more than 50 miles away.

He was on the last day of his approved leave, and was due back behind bars the next day, police none the wiser. Less than a month after her killing, McGill walked free from prison.

The case will be explored in BBC’s Murder Case: The Hunt for Mary McLaughlin’s Killer which first aired this year on BBC Scotland and will air tonight at 9.00pm.

Mary’s body was found by her son face down on a bare mattress, having been strangled to death with a dressing gown cord.

She was 58 at the time of her death, a mother of eleven, and police were unable to find a suspect.

McLaughlin was out at the pub on the day of her murder, with McGill reportedly having followed her home.

The pair struck up a conversation and he offered to walk her home, with prosecutor Alex Prentice saying: “Mary McLaughlin was someone who was friendly and trusting and I would suggest that ultimately brought about her death.”

It is believed the ‘violent’ assault carried out by McGill was sexually motivated.

Despite more than 1,000 statements being taken, police had no idea who had done it until, in 2014, a new DNA testing facility was opened.

Investigating officers reopened the case, with particular focus put on a cigarette found at the scene.

It stuck out due to the fact that it was not the brand she would usually smoke, and was sent off for testing.

The butt was found to be a direct match and, although investigators were perplexed as he was in prison at the time of the killing, they realised he had been out that night.

He was ultimately charged and, in 2021, sentenced to a minimum of 14 years in prison after a trial in which he denied killing her.

The judge said of the case when passing his judgement: “She was 58 when she died and you were 22. You are now 59.

“Her family has had to wait all that time in order to discover who was responsible for that act knowing that whoever did it was probably at large in the community.

‘’They had never given up the hope that someday they would find out what had happened to her.

“They have been deprived of her love and companionship.

“It is due to the perseverance of police authorities, and in particular the forensic biologists, that your guilt could be demonstrated.”
