The content creator urged others not to make the same mistake she did with her diet

A content creator found out that a meat-only diet isn’t the healthiest option, in one of the hardest and most unforgiving ways possible.

The TikToker took it upon herself to practice the diet when she was in university, but paid the price with a trip to the hospital.

Eve Catherine, from Dallas, USA, has over 49,000 followers on her account, with her story about how her carnivore diet caused her to end up in the hospital going viral with over 154,000 views.

But with the diet being backed by celebrities such as Joe Rogan, the social media influencer is determined to spread word that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

As explained by Harvard Medical School, the carnivore diet can be hazardous to your health, despite being a popular ‘keto’ option for those looking to lose fat.

In fact, it can result in you having high levels of LDL cholesterol, known as bad cholesterol, as animal fat mostly contains saturated fat.

It can also lead to impaired kidney function.

A carnivore diet usually consists of meat, poultry, eggs, seafood, some dairy products, and water.

Vegetables, fruits, or any greens for that matter, are off limits, which is why it’s known as the ‘zero carb’ diet.

Eve explained that she was in her ‘era of being a carnivore’, saying in the video: “I was eating a New York strip steak every single night my senior year of college. In the morning, I would eat two or three eggs.

“I would eat this specific type of yogurt that had 19 grams of protein in just one cup. Any snack that I had or anything had to be protein-centric,” she pointed out.

While a regular physical indicated that she had high protein levels, things started to go downhill as she thought she was going to die after seeing blood in her urine.

After being taken to the Emergency Room, she revealed that she was ‘screaming’ when she went to the toilet, as she passed a kidney stone.

Despite this, Eve was made to wait.

Kidney stones can be caused from excess waste product and forms in the ureter, which connects your kidneys to your bladder, according to the NHS.

In a painful process, your body will try to pass it out when you pee – kidney stones can also lead to infections or malfunction of the organ if untreated.

After finally seeing a doctor, he questions if it’s just her period, which she rejects, explaining that she passed a kidney stone moments before.

“He does the X-ray thing to make sure there’s not anymore. I had to be put on morphine because it hurt so bad,” she recalled.

Diets with high protein can cause the body to excrete more calcium through urine, and the excess amount of calcium can cause the body to make uric acid, and too much of this can result in the build up of uric acid stones in the kidneys.

Kidney stones can also be formed from excess calcium and oxalates from plant-based foods and the body.

Eve concluded the video, urging viewers: “Don’t eat too much protein, OK?

“Don’t neglect your fiber intake.”

Kidney stones are common in the UK, with more than one in 10 people suffering with the condition.

Man who threw his ex-wife over side of cruise ship in 'perfect murder' was caught after key detail discovered

The murderer was jailed 14 years after his crime

A man who was said to have committed the ‘perfect murder’ when he threw his ex-wife over the side of a cruise ship was caught after a key detail was discovered.

This murder, committed by Lonnie Loren Kocontes, was the focus of a Channel 5 documentary The Push: Murder on a Cruise Ship, airing last night, March 13.

Kocontes, a lawyer, killed his ex-wife Micki Kansaki in May of 2006.

Whil

he was an initial focus of investigations, the lawyer would not be caught for seven years.

Kocontes had thrown Micki Kansaki overboard on a cruise ship for financial gain, hoping to gain access to her almost £800,000 fortune.

In addition to this he hoped to sell her home for profit.

The pair had divorced prior to her death, but had recently reconciled and were making plans to get remarried.

Kocontes and Kansaki had made one another the executors of each other’s estates.

Julie Sanarita, the niece of Kansaki, told Dateline: “He said he was going to change, he was going to work less, and things were going to be better. She was just so happy.”

The man claimed that he had taken a sleeping pill on May 25, waking the next morning to find his ex-wife missing.

This, however, was found to be a lie as he was eventually discovered to have murdered her.

A statement from the Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer called the lawyer’s murder the ‘perfect crime’, but revealed one key detail led to his arrest.

He said: “Despite all of his painstaking planning to pick the perfect ship, the perfect room and the perfect time to commit a murder, the fact that he strangled her before throwing her overboard gave us the very evidence to convict him of murder.

“She couldn’t breathe in water because she was dead long before her body ever hit the ocean and when authorities found her, her cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation – not drowning.”

Kocontes told police: “I can’t rule suicide out. When she would be sad and she would drink, she talked in general terms wishing that she were dead.

“She’s talked about wanting to kill herself in the past.”

An FBI investigation into the death began when, in 2008, Kocontes tried to to move nearly the full sum of money in Kansaki’s bank account into his own.

He was arrested in 2013 and sentenced to life in prison in 2020, 14 years after her murder.

The Push: Murder on a Cruise Ship can be watched online on Channel 5.

Greenland’s PM slams Donald Trump amid further threats USA will take country ‘one way or another’

Greenland’s incoming Prime Minister and current leader have hit back at President Trump’s claims

Greenland’s Prime Minister has once again hit back at claims from Donald Trump that the nation will be taken over by the USA.

Mute Egede, known also as the Premier of Greenland, has responded to claims from the US President that he would take the country ‘one way or another’, while incoming Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has also shared his opinion on the comments.

When speaking in a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump told the press that the country needed Greenland for ‘international security’.

He claimed: “Well I think it will happen, I’m just thinking, I didn’t give it much thought – but I’m sitting with a man who could be very instrumental.

“You know Mark, we need it for international security, not just security, but international.”

However, Rutte replied: “When it comes to Greenland, I don’t want to drag NATO into that,” adding that his focus is on the Arctic and that ‘certain Arctic countries working together on this under US leadership’ is key.

Earlier this month, Trump also told Congress: “We strongly support your right to determine your own future. And if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.

“We will keep you safe. We will make you rich. And together we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before.”

He then highlighted: “We need it really for international world security. And I think we’re going to get it. One way or the other, we’re going to get it.”

Reluctance has come from Greenland and Denmark, the latter of which Greenland is an autonomous territory under.

The incoming Greenland Premier, Jans-Frederik Nielsen, has now released a firm statement about the American President’s claims, saying: “Trump’s statement from the US is inappropriate and just shows once again that we must stand together in such situations.”

Nielsen’s Demokraatit party won Greenland’s parliamentary election on Tuesday (11 March).

In his victory speech, he powerfully claimed: “We don’t want to be Americans. No, we don’t want to be Danes.

“We want to be Greenlanders, and we want our own independence in the future. And we want to build our own country by ourselves.”

Current leader Mute Egede echoed these sentiments, saying ‘Kalaallit Nunaat is ours’ (Kalaallit Nunaat is the Greenlanders’ name for their country), explaining: “We don’t want to be Americans, nor Danes; We are Kalaallit. The Americans and their leader must understand that.

“We are not for sale and cannot simply be taken. Our future will be decided by us in Greenland.”

Egede would later add: “The U.S. president has once again aired the thought of annexing us.

“Enough is enough.”

He also said in a statement that Trump hasn’t showed Greenlanders ‘respect’ since taking office, even claiming: “The recent things that the American president has done mean that you don’t want to get as close to (the US) as you might have wanted in the past.”

Greenland have widely remained against an annexation throughout Trump’s plan to take the nation of 56,000 over.

Joe Rogan admits he'll never discuss simulation theory with his wife and kids as 'he's convinced'

Joe Rogan made the admission to his podcast guest Andrew Schultz

Joe Rogan might be into universe origin theories, but he has insisted his wife is not.

On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host welcomed on comedian and regular guest Andrew Shultz.

During the show, however, the Flagrant presenter was ever-so-slightly bemused by Rogan’s simulation theory that his wife Jessica Ditzel and two daughters apparently wouldn’t understand.

The MMA enthusiast, 57, got married to former cocktail waitress and model Ditzel, 49, back in 2009.

Opening up about his theory, Rogan asked Schultz: “How do you feel about this world that we’re living in, this world that seems more and more like it’s not real? More and more like it’s a f**king simulation?

“There’s something more to reality than what meets the eye, there’s more to it than what you can put on a scale or what you can put a ruler to. There’s more to this thing.

“This thing’s made out of like, some very bizarre energy that’s attached to consciousness, that’s what I think.”

The stand-up then asked Rogan to further explain what he’s going on about.

“It’s inevitable that one day they will achieve a simulation that is indiscernible from reality. No doubt about it,” Rogan went on. “They’ve gotten real close.

“Is that the ultimate progression of technology? Is the ultimate progression of technology transcending physical reality and becoming completely digital life?

“So if that is possible, how do we know that it hasn’t already happened? How can we know if it hasn’t already happened?”

Schultz then suggested that we wouldn’t know either way when Rogan continued to hypothesise that if the world ‘is scripted, it would be filled with a lot of s**t that’s exactly like what happened’.

“Trump would get shot in the ear and say ‘Fight, fight, fight,’ you would have Elon Musk at the inauguration looking like he’s on another planet,” he added.

“I think that the actual way that things happen and work is dependent entirely on the level of consciousness the people have that are experiencing it.”

Rogan’s colleague eventually asked what his wife and kids would think about the whole thing.

“No, that’s too weird to talk to kids about,” he laughed.

“You know my wife, she’d be like, ‘What the f**k are you talking about?

“If she wants to talk about something like that, she’ll bring it up.

“Like if she wants to talk about something heavy, it’s not like I wouldn’t talk about something heavy with her, but generally like I come home from work, she’s been with the kids she’s doing this and that, we eat dinner, we have fun, ‘How was school?,’ have a good time, maybe we’ll watch a little Severance together.”

What stranded NASA astronauts are doing on the International Space Station as Elon Musk rescue is delayed

Astronauts Sunita ‘Suni’ Williams and Barry ‘Butch’ Wilmore have been left in space for a little while longer

They thought they were almost home. But Barry ‘Butch’ Wilmore and Sunita ‘Suni’ Williams have been left stuck on board the International Space Station (ISS) for a little while longer.

Having headed to the ISS back in June 2024, they were only meant to stay on board the vessel for a week.

Fast forward nine whole months and the veteran astronauts remain looking down on planet Earth as they whiz around the planet in the US Orbital Segment of the ISS.

Living a life of zero gravity 400 kilometres from the world below’s surface, it’s been quite the ride for Williams and Wilmore. The time to come home nears, though. Just not quite yet.

Why has their return to Earth been delayed?

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who heads up SpaceX, said they were moving the pieces behind the scenes to bring both Wilmore, 62, and Williams, 59, back to Earth as soon as possible.

A date was finally put on the cards, with the joint NASA and SpaceX Crew-10 mission given a launch date of Wednesday (12 March) and a return to Earth date of Sunday.

But Wednesday came and went, and the Crew-10 mission remained grounded after being postponed by a hydraulic issue. The next launch window from Florida is Friday evening (14 March), with a potential return being Monday (17 March).

What have Williams and Wilmore been up to on the ISS?

They’re astronauts so you won’t be shocked to know they have been using their time to carry out work in line with their expertise.

This has included a number of experiments, with the ISS effectively a laboratory orbiting Earth. Hello science.

One major experiment the duo have been undertaking relates to an ultrasound machine on the ISS, using the technology to see how space affects the human body.

It’s not all as interesting as that, mind. Some of their work has focused on general maintenance of the ISS, which is approaching its end of service lifespan.

At that point, Musk’s SpaceX is set to crash-land it back into Earth’s oceans.

But until then, Williams and Wilmore have been doing task such as taking inventory of food supplies on the ISS so NASA knows what there is and what needs bringing up on the next cargo mission. They’ve also been working on the toilet system, with Wilmore some what of a handyman repairing his local church back in the USA.

Astronaut health worries

When they do finally come back to Earth, Williams and Wilmore will need some time to physically adjust after spending months without gravity on their bodies.

The duo have been taking part in daily exercise on the ISS to keep their muscles and skeletal systems robust, with a NASA spokesperson previously telling LADbible: “All NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station undergo routine medical evaluations, have dedicated flight surgeons monitoring them, and are in good health.”

However, exercise won’t be enough to negate all impact as weakened bone density loss is common among astronauts, as well as muscle waste in arms and legs. Your heart isn’t exempt from this, with it having to do much less work to pump blood due to no resistance in the form of gravity.

Alan Duffy, an astrophysicist at Swinburne University, said their eventual return is a ‘research project in itself’ to see just how they are impacted physically.

Simulation shows terrifying reality of how deep the sea really is as people make shocking realisation

YouTube channel MetaBallStudios has shared a 3D animation demonstrating just how deep the sea is compared to different lakes and seas

To find out that the deepest known point in the ocean is around 10,935 meters (35,876 feet), frankly, isn’t that interesting.

However, viewers have been left stunned after YouTube channel MetaBallStudios shared a 3D animation of the deepest part of the ocean, using the depth of different lakes and seas.

One person called the video ‘an absolute masterclass in cinema storytelling’ as it demonstrates the deepest known point located in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean.

For context, the peak of Mount Everest is around 8,848 meters (29,026 feet) above sea level.

One viewer commented: “The deepness is scary. Imagine going out over the deepest point of the Mariana Trench and jumping into the water and just floating for a few minutes.

“Hell no. You are closer to an airliner flying above you than you are to the bottom below you.”

“The human mind really isn’t built to be able to comprehend these kinds of numbers very easily, but your presentations bring it all into perspective,” a second penned.

“When I first heard the deepest part of the ocean is 11km deep it didn’t seem like much,” a third added.

“But when I started watching videos about the ocean, the pressure, the unusual species, it kept getting terrifying. An 11km straight dept into nothing but water is actually unimaginable.”

Journalist James Nestor, who is the author of ‘Deep: Freediving, Renegade Science, and What the Ocean Tells Us about Ourselves’, explained in his 2014 book what it’s really like to be so deep in the water.

“At three hundred feet, we are profoundly changed. The pressure at these depths is nine times that of the surface. The organs collapse,” he wrote.

“The heart beats at a quarter of its normal rate, slower than the rate of a person in a coma. Senses disappear.

“The brain enters a dream state. At six hundred feet down, the ocean’s pressure—some eighteen times that of the surface—is too extreme for most human bodies to withstand.

“Few freedivers have ever attempted dives to this depth; fewer have survived. Where humans can’t go, other animals can.

“Sharks, which can dive below six hundred and fifty feet, and much deeper, rely on senses beyond the ones we know.

“Among them is magnetoreception, an attunement to the magnetic pulses of the Earth’s molten core.”

He noted that ‘eight hundred feet down appears to be the absolute limit of the human body’.

The victim was allegedly kept in sickening conditions for over 20 years

Police have explained why the ‘house of horrors’ victim never told anyone what was happening to him while his stepmum allegedly kept him captive.

The 32-year-old finally escaped the tiny room in Waterbury, Connecticut, he had been locked away in for over 20 years after setting the house on fire in February.

When responders arrived at the scene, he was found in a ‘severely emaciated condition and had not received medical or dental care during this time’. With Kimberly Sullivan evacuating the blaze safely, the man revealed he had started the fire, adding: “I wanted my freedom.”

He went on to accuse the 56-year-old of holding him captive since he was around 11 years old.

Sullivan was arrested earlier this week, facing a number of charges including assault, kidnapping, and unlawful restraint.

Authorities have since revealed more harrowing details of the allegations against her, which she denies.

Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said in an interview that it’s ‘probably one of the worst acts of inhumanity’ he’s ever seen.

According to the affidavit, when a detective asked the man why he never told anyone what was happening to him, he said he wanted to, but feared ‘the constant threat of longer lock downs and further diminishment of food’.

He recalled how his father used to let him out of the 8-by-9-foot room on weekends and he’d occasionally be allowed to work in the garden.

And after his dad died, Sullivan’s captivity of him allegedly worsened, giving him two sandwiches and the equivalent of two small bottles of water a day.

The affidavit says the man ‘describes a life of being mentally conditioned by the woman’.

“He stated that the threat was that he would ‘not see the light of day’ if he told anyone and, knowing that he had little time out of his room to that point, it was not something he could risk,” it added.

With state officials in 2005 finding a home-schooling plan adequate for the victim, Spagnolo said there wasn’t any contact with law enforcement or other officials in the intervening years.

The chief added that a uncle grew concerned at one point after visiting at Christmas and seeing the stepson looking ‘skinny, meek, and mild-mannered’, with Sullivan intervening when he tried to talk to him.

“The family pushed him [the uncle] away,” Spagnolo said. “He’d ask questions, he tried to reach out over time, but he never received any response.”

He added: “There was a lot of inaction by the people closest to the victim. That’s really hard to judge. We all have families. We all understand how domestic situations work. It seems like this went on for quite a long time and Kimberly was very successful hiding this from the public eye and even her family’s eyes.”

Tim Peake reveals unexpected health impact of being in space as stranded NASA astronauts return delayed

A British astronaut has explained what the stranded astronauts might expect to experience upon their return to Earth

British astronaut Tim Peake has explained the health effects of being stranded in space after news broke of Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore’s return being delayed.

The NASA astronauts stepped foot aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time in June 2024, for what was meant to be an eight-day mission, though they have been left stranded in orbit for nine months.

Williams, 59, and Wilmore, 62, headed up on the Boeing Starliner capsule, which ran into some technical issues, before being deemed unsafe to take the pair back.

After spending close to a year in space, you’d expect a plan to be in place to bring the astronauts back, but this has been delayed (again).

The American space explorers are still looking down at our blue planet and waiting for news on their return, after their original target date of 12 March has come and gone.

President Donald Trump, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and NASA have been working to find a way to bring the astronauts home as soon as possible, after they were meant to return to Earth on Sunday (16 March).

The Crew-10 mission was postponed due to a hydraulic issue, with the next launch window from Florida suggested to be this evening (14 March).

A joint NASA-SpaceX mission, it was intended to fly four crew members to the ISS, allowing Williams and Wilmore to return to normality – and gravity.

SpaceX have since stated that the hydraulics on one of the clamp arms are being looked at by engineers, as they were concerned with whether it would open fully during launch.

While Williams called the ISS her ‘happy place’, before adding she missed her family and dogs, Wilmore also said he was prepared to stay up for months at a time if necessary.

But how much of an effect does staying up in space for that long actually have?

“We’re still finding out about the longterm effects of spaceflight… we do an hour and a half/two hours of fitness as well,” he said about the process.

Peake explained: “But we also know that our skin ages, our eyesight changes and [that] we’re more prone to blood clots.

“These are relatively new things that we’ve found out. I guess the longest effect is the radiation dose, as that’s hard to quantify what the effects will be,” he said.

Speaking about his time onboard the space station, he also added that you get ‘the equivalent of eight chest x-rays a day’ while onboard, highlighting that ‘it’s not trivial’.

Despite being stranded up in space for so long, Williams revealed that she has learnt a lot while on the ISS, especially about our planet.

“It opens up the door to making you think a bit differently,” she said, adding: “It’s the one planet we have and we should be taking care of it.”

Kimberly Sullivan denies the sickening allegations against her

Kimberly Sullivan was arrested earlier this week after a 32-year-old man started a fire to escape and get ‘freedom’.

The victim set the home on fire in February, with responders finding him in a ‘severely emaciated condition’ before he accused the 56-year-old of keeping him captive since he was about 11-years-old.

Sullivan has been charged with assault in the first degree, kidnapping in the second degree, unlawful restraint in the first degree, cruelty to persons, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.

But as sickening details of this case are revealed, the woman has denied all allegations.

While police say the victim feared telling anyone about the situation due to her threats of the consequences, Sullivan was apparently stunned by the accusation.

Her attorney, Ioannis Kaloidis, says she ‘completely maintains her innocence’.

“These allegations are not true. They are outlandish. She was blown away when she heard these allegations,” Kaloidis said, per NBC Connecticut. “We look forward to being able to vindicate her and show that she’s done nothing wrong.”

He also said Sullivan never locked her stepson in a room, calling the allegation ‘absolutely not true’.

As an affidavit describes how the victim was kept in a 8-by-9-foot room with neighbours once spotting a ‘little boy’ in the window, police said: “Detectives determined that the victim had been held in captivity for over 20 years, enduring prolonged abuse, starvation, severe neglect, and inhumane treatment.”

But Kaloidis continued: “She did not restrain him in any way. She provided food, she provided shelter. She is blown away by these allegations. It is shocking and what’s more shocking to me? It’s how somebody can (be) falsely accused of such a thing.”

Sullivan’s attorney claimed her husband (who reportedly passed away in January 2024) dictated how his son would be raised.

Police say the victim’s father was in a wheelchair prior to his death due to medical reasons.

Kaloidis said: “We think as the evidence comes out, you’ll see that she’s not the villain she’s being made out to be, absolutely not.”

The attorney added that the allegations ‘seem to be based on the words of one individual and one individual alone’.

“I did not see anything in the warrant to indicate any independent evidence to corroborate these allegations. We’ll see how they stand up at trial,” he added.

With a police chief saying it is ‘one of the worst acts of inhumanity’ he’s ever seen, Sullivan’s next court date is set for March 26.

Rancho Izaguirre was secretly used as a site for systematic human rights abuses

An ‘extermination camp’ discovered in Jalisco might help uncover what happened to the 120,000 Mexican people who have ‘disappeared’.

Rancho Izaguirre, spanning approximately 10,000 square meters in Teuchitlán, may have been used as a training camp for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

Photos posted online show hundreds of discarded shoes and clothing items, as well as bullet casings from high powered rifles, and even charred bones.

One letter read: “My love, if some day I don’t return, I only ask you to remember how much I love you.”

The Warrior Searchers of Jalisco group, who are on the lookout for the missing Mexicans, uncovered the camp last week after receiving a tip, according to the Los Angeles Times.

However, it remains a mystery why nothing else has been done since the site was first investigated in September 2024.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the institution was allegedly in operation for over 10 years.

During that time, criminal gang members would coerce people to join the group, training them up to become killers.

Indira Navarro, the leader of the Warrior Searchers group, told the outlet that one woman said she had been held against her will there for three years.

Non-compliance was reportedly met with severe punishment or death.

Detention zones

There were specifically designated areas which would confine abducted individuals.

Testimonies from survivors suggest that new arrivals were often beaten with wooden planks, and any resistance or attempts to escape were met with immediate execution.

One section of the ranch, known as ‘the butcher shop’, was where prisoners were forced to dismember human bodies.

This practice was intended to desensitise individuals from violent activities.

“They didn’t teach us how to do it, so it was up to each person. There is not a day in which I do not think of it and there is not a day in which I am not tormented by it,” a survivor said. “I couldn’t even sleep but, at that moment, I had to do it in order to survive.”

Clandestine crematoriums

The group also discovered cremation furnaces, which are likely to have been used to dispose victims’ bodies. Photos show skeletal remains concealed beneath layers of brick slabs.

“They tortured us every day just to instill fear. The first thing they did once you arrived to the ranch —after taking away your clothes— was to beat you up with wooden planks,” a man who was captured there for two weeks said.

“Once you moved on to real guns there was no excuse to say no. If they sent you to get toilet paper or asked you to torture your partner you had to do it. There were no second chances given,” another added.

Who are the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)?

The CJNG came into power in Mexico in the late 2000s as a part of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Over the years, they have developed a reputation for aggressive tactics and violent confrontations with Mexican security forces and rival cartels.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said: “The first thing we have to do in that case is investigate, because the images are obviously painful, we really need to know what happened there before anything else.

“That’s why it’s important that there is a coordinated investigation, and obviously determining who is responsible.”
