The UK’s Jeopardy! host is appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show tonight (22 March) and on the programme he spoke about how he got that particular gig.
He explained that when he was over in the US he had dinner with his agent who asked him what he did when he wasn’t in front of the camera or preparing to be so.
Fry gave the explanation, and in doing so gave a reason why you’ve not seen him and Spencer out in public living the sort of raucous, raving lifestyle you’d expect of the former host of QI.

Rather than busting a move in some club, glowsticks clutched in the 67-year-old’s hands, it seems that Fry is much more of an early to bed sort, and if he’s not out partying with his husband then he’s not going to be pictured out partying.
“My husband and I, we don’t go to Hollywood parties much, we have an early supper, watch Jeopardy! go to bed,” Fry said of the response he gave to his agent as to what he did when not on TV.
It was actually this conversation that helped Fry get his latest game show gig as his agent asked him about the UK’s version of Jeopardy!, only to learn there wasn’t one.
A couple of weeks later Fry got the call telling him hosting duties were his.
As for his relationship with Spencer, 37, the pair tied the knot in January 2015 and they don’t tend to make public appearances.
They’ve occasionally stepped onto a red carpet together but it’s been a while since that happened, though Fry did post on Instagram earlier this year to commemorate their anniversary, writing: “Ten happy years to the day since we were joined in marriage. I’m a lucky man.”

Elsewhere in his life, back in January he appeared on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and won £250,000 to be shared between two charities.
To earn his money Fry needed a bit of assistance from host Jeremy Clarkson to answer the £250,000 question, then attempted to double his money but decided against it after his Phone-A-Friend Richard Osman didn’t have enough time to work out a long question.
Sadly, Fry would actually have got it right had he gone with his gut but as he said ‘you don’t want to let the charity down’ once you’re on that sort of money.
He was also asked whether he’d star in the upcoming Harry Potter TV remake, having narrated the audiobooks and professed a trouble with saying the sentence ‘Harry pocketed it’, though JK Rowling disputes his claim that he asked her to stop putting it in the books.
Fry said he’d ‘certainly consider it’, but as far as he knows hasn’t been approached for a role.
