Trump Orders Plans for ‘Large Scale’ Work Force Cuts and Expands Musk’s Power

President Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday directing agency officials to draw up plans for “large scale” cuts to the federal work force and further empowered the billionaire Elon Musk and his team to approve which career officials are hired in the future.

The order gives the so-called Department of Government Efficiency vast reach over the shape of the Civil Service as the Trump administration tries to sharply cut the number of employees working for the federal government. It states that, aside from agencies involved in functions like law enforcement and immigration enforcement, executive branch departments will need hiring approval from an official working with Mr. Musk’s team.

Each federal agency, with some exceptions, will be allowed to “hire no more than one employee for every four employees that depart” after a hiring freeze is lifted, according to Mr. Trump’s order. New career hires would have to be made in consultation with a “DOGE Team Lead,” the order stated. It also said that agencies should not fill career positions that Mr. Musk’s team deems unnecessary unless an agency head—not a member of Mr. Musk’s initiative—decides that those positions should be filled.

The “work force optimisation initiative” was signed by Mr. Trump shortly before he and Mr. Musk spent roughly 30 minutes defending the drastic overhaul in front of reporters in the Oval Office. Mr. Musk, the world’s richest person, has moved rapidly to force change in Washington, an effort he asserted on Tuesday would benefit the public.

In the first three weeks of the new Trump administration, Mr. Musk’s team has inserted itself into at least 19 agencies, according to a tally by The New York Times, where it has begun identifying programs to cut.

Ricky Starks already has a new home with NXT.

Starks made a surprise appearance on Tuesday’s episode of NXT, entering the arena through the crowd in Orlando. Starks declared NXT needed a star like him, declaring his intention to call Tuesday nights home.

“It’s obvious you know who I am. If NXT is the future of professional wrestling, well, guess what? You need an Absolute Superstar of the Future! If this is the hottest brand, well, you need the hottest free agent around, baby,” Starks said.

Starks said he was there to flip NXT upside-down. He knows fans have been asking when the revolution would be televised again, borrowing from his catchphrase. Well, that’s why he’s there, Starks noted.

Ricky Starks’ road to WWE

Ricky Starks appeared on NXT just one day after he became a free agent. Starks had been under contract with AEW but had not appeared on AEW TV in several months. Starks’ last appearance on AEW programming was in March 2024.

AEW reportedly picked up an option year on his contract, extending it into 2025. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that Starks’ AEW contract was set to expire in the spring. Earlier this year, Starks began taking independent bookings. He also reportedly asked for his release, but his request was denied by AEW.

Ricky Starks was asked about his absence from AEW television in a November interview with Chris Van Vliet. He recently confirmed he has not been injured and didn’t know the true reason for being kept off of AEW TV, but would love to know why.

Ricky Starks isn’t sure why he was kept off of AEW TV, but he wasn’t injured

“Beats me. I could have 1,000 theories about what’s really going on,” Starks told Insight. “The fact of the matter is that if I don’t have a definitive answer, I can’t just make up an answer for people and just assume. Would I love to know the exact reason? For sure. Do I have speculations about why? Absolutely. But that does nothing to speak on things that I speculate on; it does nothing for the situation. So I think it’s just a matter of, it sucks, it’s been a very cold day here in Austin. It’s been a very cold day. May have been cold for the past nine months, not sure. But thankfully, I have a sweater, and I’m always ready to keep the warmth going.”

“March was my last match. I’ve been home; I’ve been healthy. Never was injured. I did have a stinger,” Ricky Starks continued. “[It happened] in that match against Top Flight in March. I got immediately checked out, and everything was fine, but I was just concerned at the time. So that happened, and then I was just home. That’s kind of where it’s been at. I’ve just been home.

“It’s kind of a mindf*ck because I’m in my prime and it sucks when you’re on such a momentum, riding the wave, doing work and doing stuff, and then to just be at home for so long, you’re kind of like, whoa. It kind of throws it off. I am not meant to be at home. I’m not meant to be a homebody in this current phase of my life. I’m not meant to be just chilling at home and doing not the thing that I’ve been busting my ass to do for the past 13 years.”

A Canned Tuna Recall Is Hitting Costco, Trader Joe’s, And Others

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a notice about a voluntary recall of canned tuna fish sold at several grocers. The recalled tuna is sold under the Genova, Van Camp’s, H-E-B, and Trader Joe’s brand names and is made by Tri-Union Seafoods. The manufacturer discovered defective pull-tab lids, which led to the recall.

These defective cans have the potential to leak or allow bacteria to contaminate the product. The bacteria they are concerned about is clostridium botulinum, a potentially fatal toxin. This toxin leads to a type of food poisoning known as botulism, which attacks the body’s nervous and respiratory systems, causing paralysis or — even worse — death. At this time, no cases of illness have been reported.

This recall affects tuna sold in 27 states at various grocery stores. Costco — which had a recall on almost 80,000 pounds of butter last fall — Trader Joe’s, Harris Teeter, Publix, H-E-B, Kroger, Safeway, and Walmart are all retailers who have been ordered to pull the offending tuna off of their shelves. The stores and states that are affected, product names, codes, and use-by dates are all listed on the FDA’s recall notice.

What To Do If You Have The Recalled Tuna

If you purchased the affected tuna, return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund, or discard it. Do not eat it under any circumstances. Additionally, Tri-Union Seafoods can be contacted directly for a retrieval kit via the information provided on the FDA website.

Sometimes, events that lead to botulism can occur long after the food has left the manufacturing plant: for instance, cans that have been dented in transit or in the store itself. Dented cans should always be discarded or brought to the attention of the store manager to avoid the risk of food poisoning.

Botulism is the same toxin that affected Snapchill canned coffee in 2024, which also led to a voluntary nationwide recall. Voluntary recalls are a way for manufacturers to be proactive when a food item has a chance of being contaminated, avoiding serious illness for consumers and lawsuits for the company.

Insane amount it reportedly cost for Donald Trump to attend the 2025 Super Bowl

President Donald Trump was in attendance at the Super Bowl yesterday, but it might have cost an arm and a leg to get him there.

The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans was absolutely rammed as the biggest sporting event in the U.S. took place.

For the average sports fan it is a very pricey day out, which is presumably why you see so many A-list celebs in attendance.

But the President himself decided to watch the game, which saw the Philadelphia Eagles absolutely dominate the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ahead of the event, Trump released a statement expressing his enthusiasm for attending: “I look forward to joining the fans in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX to cheer on two great teams – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles – as they battle for the National Football League’s Vince Lombardi Trophy.

“The coaches, players, and team staff on the field tonight represent the best of the best in professional football, but they also embody the best of the American Dream.

“Their hard work, dedication, and tenacity is admirable, and their individual journeys are as inspiring as the drive and determination that has led them to this extraordinary moment.

“They also represent the hopes and dreams of our Nation’s young athletes as we restore safety and fairness in sports and equal opportunities among their teams.”

The statement went on: “Football is America’s most popular sport – for good reason – it fosters a sense of national unity, bringing families, friends, and fans together and strengthening communities.

“This annual tradition transcends our differences and personifies our shared patriotic values of family, faith, and freedom heroically defended by our military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders.

“We value their devotion to protecting our great Nation and salute their selfless service.”

But what are the costs involved in getting the POTUS to such a large event?

One Threads user alleged: “Trump attending the Super Bowl will cost taxpayers an additional 4 million dollars.” The claim sparked discussion, with one commenter questioning whether the president is permitted to take personal time away from office.

On Twitter, estimates were even higher. One post broke down the supposed costs: “Secret Service: $7M to $10M. Air Travel and Motorcade: $4M-5M. Stadium Security Upgrades: Additional metal detectors, bomb sweeps, security checkpoints: $2M. Local Law Enforcement: Overtime & personnel: $1M. Trump’s Super Bowl attendance: $15 to $20M. Where’s DOGE?”

“DOGE” refers to the Department of Government Efficiency, a newly established agency led by Elon Musk, aimed at cutting government spending through job reductions and wage bill reductions.

Despite these claims, no official sources have confirmed the actual cost of Trump’s attendance.

The 37-year-old rapper took the stage at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, headlining one of the most-watched musical events of the year, with special guest and longtime collaborator SZA, as well as guest appearances from Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.

The night saw the Philadelphia Eagles triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs with a host of stars in attendance, including Taylor Swift who was brutally booed by the audience.

One attendee who got quite a different reaction was President Donald Trump, who emerged to cheers from the crowd.

The sentiment didn’t seem to be echoed by Kendrick, however, as fans pointed out one particular lyric he changed – which appeared to be a dig at Trump.

They tweeted: “Kendrick Lamar seems to have changed his lyrics to take a shot at Trump, who is also in attendance at the superbowl tonight… What did he mean by ‘The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy’?”

Others added: “‘The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy.’ -Kendrick Lamar. Yeah, he didn’t vote for Trump, no wonder MAGA is furious..”

Another commented: “Kendrick knew Trump was in attendance and he still did that. Epic.”

One viewer referred back to Trump’s inflammatory comments about DEI (diversity equity, and inclusion) hires following the Washington D.C. American Airlines crash as Samuel L. Jackson took to the stage dressed as Uncle Sam, writing: “Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime site. Can’t wait for Trump to say it’s ‘DEI’.”

In one sketch featuring the veteran actor, he was seen telling Kendrick he’s “too ghetto: before adding: “Yes! America wants slow chill music.”

It comes after President Trump ordered all US government staff working on DEI schemes to be put on immediate paid administrative leave, having revoked Executive Order 11246 (1965).

The law was designed to protect workers from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, with advocates believing it helps to level the playing field for underrepresented groups.

Tony Roberts dies at 85

Actor Tony Roberts, who was best known for appearing in Woody Allen films, has sadly passed away at the age of 85.-

The beloved stage and screen actor’s daughter, Nicole Burley, confirmed her father’s death to The New York Times.

She also revealed that Roberts died at his Manhattan home due to complications of lung cancer.-

Roberts was destined for showbiz from an early age as his father, Ken Roberts, was a well-known radio and television announcer.

“I was raised in the middle of a lot of actor talk,” he told AP in 1985, cited by The Mirror. “My cousin was Everett Sloane, who was a very fine actor. My father’s friends were mostly actors. I’m sure that in some way, I needed to prove myself in their eyes.”

The late Hollywood star attended the High School of Music and Art in New York before continuing his studies at Northwestern University in Illinois. There, he built a career that lasted decades.

Roberts starred in several Broadway productions like How Now, Dow Jones, Sugar, and an adaptation of Some Like It Hot. He also played opposite Dame Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria, marking her triumphant return to Broadway.

His stage work earned him two Tony Award nominations – one for How Now, Dow Jones, and another for Play It Again, Sam – a role he also reprised in the film version.

While Roberts enjoyed success on Broadway, he became widely recognized for his on-screen roles, particularly in Woody Allen’s films.

He starred in Play It Again, Sam, Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, Radio Days, Stardust Memories, and A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy.

Despite their strong working relationship, Roberts acknowledged the downside of being closely associated with Allen’s work.

Speaking to The Los Angeles Times in 1997, he reflected: “I was always so vividly the guy Woody wrote, that everybody in the business – casting agents, for instance – would think of me that way…The persona I was for Woody is a hard thing to break out of.”

Beyond Allen’s films, Roberts appeared in TV series such as The Four Seasons, The Lucie Arnaz Show, and made guest appearances on Murder, She Wrote, and Law & Order.

In his 2015 memoir, Do You Know Me, the award-winning actor reflected on his long and fulfilling career: “I’ve never been particularly lucky at card games. I’ve never hit a jackpot. But I have been extremely lucky in life.”

“Unlike many of my pals, who didn’t know what they wanted to become when they grew up, I knew I wanted to be an actor before I got to high school,” he added.

Laleska Alexandre, a popular Brazilian influencer, has tragically passed away aged 28.

Alexandre was the CEO of marketing agency Agência Laleska Alexandre and led two fashion brands, La Vestiaire and La Brand Brasil, per the Daily Mail.

She had gained a following of 26,000 on Instagram, where she described herself as a digital creator.

Alexandre passed away on Wednesday in Juazeiro do Norte after developing septic shock, according to Brazilian news outlet O Globo.

The social media personality had been diagnosed with a tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA), a severe complication of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) that primarily affects sexually active women of reproductive age, as described by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Her cousin, Karízia Temóteo, told CNN Brasil that Alexandre had been admitted to the emergency room on Sunday with severe cramps.

She was later transferred to Cariri Regional Hospital for emergency surgery, but “it was already at an advanced stage.”

According to the NIH, TOAs are characterized as “an inflammatory mass in the fallopian tubes and ovaries, often filled with pus, typically resulting from an ascending infection of the upper genital tract.”

Symptoms commonly include fever and abdominal pain, with the risk of severe complications such as sepsis if the abscess ruptures.

Her wake was held on Thursday in Juazeiro do Norte, CNN reported.

Tributes poured in from friends and followers on social media, mourning the young influencer’s sudden passing.

“I love you forever, I will remember you as the sweet, faithful, determined, hard-working girl who never gave up in the face of adversity, who always tried her best,” a friend wrote.

“So beautiful, striving for her goals. I will always love you friend,” another added.

Fans also expressed their shock and sorrow in comments on her posts.

“I am in shock. What happened to her? How sad, Lord!” one user wrote, while a second added: “May God comfort all her family and friends! Very sad!”

“How sad, so young. It is such a shock,” another fan shared.

This isn’t the only recent story of a Brazilian influencer who has tragically passed away at a young age.

Brazilian auto influencer Ricardo Godoi died at the age of 45 while undergoing a back tattoo procedure.

Godoi, known for his passion for luxury cars and engaging content, had just arrived for his tattoo appointment on January 20 in Santa Catarina, Brazil, per the New York Post.

The procedure, which involved general anesthesia, was set to cover his entire back.

According to reports, the session had barely begun when Godoi suffered cardiac arrest shortly after being sedated.

The influencer, who had more than 225,000 Instagram followers, had posted about the appointment earlier that day, assuring fans he would resume his regular content soon.

An Instagram post confirming his passing stated that Godoi died at noon on the same day. Authorities have launched a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his sudden death.

“He was quickly checked and a cardiologist was called in to try to revive him, unfortunately without success,” the tattoo studio’s owner said in a statement published by the Daily Mail.

Fans are convinced that they know the savage hidden meaning behind the ‘A’ chain Kendrick Lamar wore during the Super Bowl halftime performance.

In case you missed it, the 37-year-old rapper delivered a show-stopping performance during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.

The 12-minute set was packed with hit songs like ‘Squabble Up,’ ‘Not Like Us’ ‘Humble,’ and ‘DNA,’ as well as guest appearances from Tennis icon Serena Williams, musician SZA, and award-winning actor Samuel L. Jackson, who portrayed “Uncle Sam”.

The performance was rich in cultural and political symbolism as dancers dressed in red, white, and blue formed a divided American flag, and Lamar’s interactions with Jackson’s “Uncle Sam” character added layers of satire and critique.

One moment that had fans buzzing was Lamar’s performance of Not Like Us – his scathing diss track aimed at Drake.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the ‘Money Trees’ rapper was sporting an ‘A’ pendant while delivering the now-infamous line: “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophile.”

Social media quickly erupted with theories about the significance of the chain, with many convinced it was a nod to the lyric “A minor” from the track.

“Rewatched the performance and just realized Kendrick’s necklace……is in the shape of the chord A minor. This man is a f***** genius, I can’t,” one user on X wrote.

Another fan exclaimed: “KENDRICK WEARING A LOWER CASE ‘a’ DIAMOND CHAIN FOR A MINOR ?????” while a third pointed out the significance of Lamar’s diss track reaching such a massive audience: “The Grammys AND the Super Bowl screaming ‘A MINOR’. Kendrick wants this in the history books.”

The brutal line has ignited a legal battle between the Canadian rapper and Universal Music Group (UMG).

According to BBC, the 38-year-old sued UMG, which represents both rappers, accusing them of prioritizing “corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists” by releasing the track.

Just hours before Lamar’s electrifying halftime show, Drake’s team issued a fresh statement regarding the lawsuit, slamming the label for allegedly downplaying serious allegations under the guise of entertainment.

“UMG is masquerading as a champion of artistic freedom by calling its actions merely ‘entertainment’, but there is nothing entertaining about pedophilia or child abuse in the real world,” the statement read, per Vibe.

“We are confident that the evidence we will ultimately present at trial—including information we’ve already learned and continue to receive since filing the lawsuit—will expose UMG’s gross prioritization of its own corporate profits and executive bonuses over its exclusively signed artists’ well-being and the truth,” they added.

A Cybertruck owner has issued a warning to fellow drivers after a horrid crash

A Cybertruck owner has issued a warning to fellow car lovers about making the same ‘mistake’ after he experienced a terrifying crash while using a self-drive feature.

While some fans of Elon Musk’s cars will argue it’s the future of the industry, there’s no doubt we’ve heard of many problems involving Teslas in recent months.

Recently, we’ve had a Tesla owner with more than 250,000 miles reveal ‘one of the worst things’ about it, while another owner was forced to pay a massive $14,000 repair bill after buying it.

Now, an owner of the Cybertruck has been involved in a massive crash while using the vehicle’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature.

Jonathan Challinger, who is based in Florida, took to Twitter to describe the crash in a now-viral thread.

He wrote: “Soooooo my @Tesla @cybertruck crashed into a curb and then a light post on v13.2.4. Thank you @Tesla for engineering the best passive safety in the world. I walked away without a scratch.

“It failed to merge out of a lane that was ending (there was no one on my left) and made no attempt to slow down or turn until it had already hit the curb.”

With his awful crash, Johnathan has issued a warning to others so they can potentially avoid making the same mistake.

“Big fail on my part, obviously. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Pay attention. It can happen. I follow Tesla and FSD pretty closely and haven’t heard of any accident on V13 at all before this happened. It is easy to get complacent now – don’t.

“@Tesla_AI how do I make sure you have the data you need from this incident? Service center etc has been less than responsive on this.

“I do have the dashcam footage. I want to get it out there as a PSA that it can happen, even on v13, but I’m hesitant because I don’t want the attention and I don’t want to give the bears/haters any material.

“Spread my message and help save others from the same fate or far worse.”

Many have flocked to the comments section of the viral Twitter post to provide their thoughts.

One person penned: “I see a lot, and I mean a lot of issues here. First of all, it’s dark. People don’t like driving in the dark, or in the evening because that’s when all the drunks and weirdos come out. Secondly, it looks like it was raining out. Lastly, that is not a parking spot, and is likely the reason your beautiful Cybertruck is being towed!”
